being an introject that's literally nothing like it's source is so odd in a system where most of the introjects at least somewhat resemble source material. my source character is someone very uh. . . aggressive. and loud. and angry, and very very competent. he's very good at what he does, and he's not very nice. but I'm. not that. I have trouble holding conversations because I'm so shy, I can't look people in the eye. I'm selective mute because i get so nervous. the difference is so stark sometimes it feels like I'm just a lookalike. I get source separation and all that, but I would rather be more like him than this. and . . . not being like him makes me feel—false in a way. I don't know. these are just thoughts.

it's actually really unfair to pressure fictives to source separate. did you ever consider that me being "the guy from the show" is part of why the system considered me a good candidate for the role? or that I like being me? or that the people I was assigned to protect are more comforted by me the closer I am to source? not to mention, forcing an alter (someone who is inherently traumatized and struggles with identity) to abandon everything they know about themself just because you think it's "problematic" for them to be attached to source is pretty unfair. 9/10, us being attached to source, using our source names, using source pictures as icons, etc. hurts no one. if you ask me, forcing fictives to separate from themselves (which is usually the only comfort we have in this world) is far more damaging and unhealthy than us simply existing as ourselves. "you aren't your source" should only apply to source actions, not the identity itself

"Real introjects don't look for sourcemates" wrong. Our irl friend (who is also a system) has a fictive from south park, and since he misses his friends he started calling 2 of that system's best friends the names of his sourcemates and acting as if they were them.

Doing sourcecalls is "a sign of faking"? If you appeared in a new universe without possibilities of going back home, you'd try to find things connected to it - even if sourcemates technically only share a face with your friends, they're still better than nothing.

So, nope, sorry to tell you. Real introjects, like anyone, miss what they had and if there's something that reminds us to it, we'll take it. And fakeclaiming us because of that is fucking stupid<3
