I see people saying having a lot of introjects is an endo thing. It is NOT.

Being an introject heavy system is normal and it has nothing to do with "endogenic systems".

It's not because some endos think being a system is all about having your favorite characters as alters to hang out with that you have to invalidate actual systems who happen to have many introjects.

They don't control it. If they have those introjects, it means they need it.

It's not because you don't share the same experience that theirs is invalid.

This is not a criteria to fakeclaim systems.

It's just another proof of how harmful endos can be.

to introjects : there will always be people out there who love, support, and accept you, no matter what your source is. whether it's "problematic", "cringe", "basic", or anything else. no matter how much or little you identify with your source. there will ALWAYS be people who choose not to judge you for things you can't control. you will always be welcome as yourself somewhere. if that place isn't where you currently are, then keep looking, because it's out there. i hope you're doing well

Introject ask game! Chapter one; fictives

Terms: how do you feel about the term fictive? Are there any alternatives you prefer?

Memory: what are your favorite memories? Are they source adjacent, au or something else? Do you have memories of something in source playing out differently?

Media: does your source have other media? Are you from one specific piece? Do you have a favourite?

Names: do you have a name different from source or a preference if your source has multiple?

Mates: any source mates in your system? Do you wish you had any or miss them?

Connection: if comfortable, how connected or separated from your source are you?

Appearance: how do you look in headspace? Is it any different from source?

Multi: if you have more than one source, what are they? Are there any you feel a stronger attachment to?

Role: if comfortable, what are your roles in the system? (Because not every fictive splits for systems comfort)

Pathological Introjects vs. Non-Pathological Introjects

Introjects are a pretty hot topic in online system communities, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about the difference between pathological introjects and non-pathological introjects, so I thought I would start this conversation!

To understand introjects and the difference between pathological and non-pathological introjects, you need to understand introjection. Introjection involves subconsciously adapting personality traits, mannerisms, vocabulary, and thoughts of other people. (It is not something that is limited to systems!)

With systems, introjects are alters that have traits from an outside source. There's two types of introjects: pathological introjects and non-pathological introjects.

Pathological introjects are alters that actually believe they are their source. They are considered pathological because the belief that one is literally their source is unhealthy, and source separation is necessary for healing.

Non-pathological introjects are alters that have some traits of their source, but don't actually believe they are their source. Non-pathological introjects can have the same name, appearance, and personality traits as their source, but they don't literally believe they are their source. They are considered non-pathological because they don't hold an unhealthy connection to their source, and don't require further source separation because of that reason.

The distinction between pathological and non-pathological introjects is important because it allows for us to better understand the necessary treatment we need to move forward and heal in a healthy and effective way.

I want to end this post by saying that every system is different, and not every introject is going to fit perfectly into these boxes. and that's okay! i also know that not every pathological introject is going to be in a place where they can safely source separate in a healthy way, and that's okay too! your recovery is yours alone, go at your own pace. 🫶

"Real introjects don't look for sourcemates" wrong. Our irl friend (who is also a system) has a fictive from south park, and since he misses his friends he started calling 2 of that system's best friends the names of his sourcemates and acting as if they were them.

Doing sourcecalls is "a sign of faking"? If you appeared in a new universe without possibilities of going back home, you'd try to find things connected to it - even if sourcemates technically only share a face with your friends, they're still better than nothing.

So, nope, sorry to tell you. Real introjects, like anyone, miss what they had and if there's something that reminds us to it, we'll take it. And fakeclaiming us because of that is fucking stupid<3

Bitches wonder why I have so many introjects and introject fragments when I don't feel like I have an identity outside of the games I play, the shows I watch, the stories I read. That I don't even feel alive unless it's through fiction. That it's impossible to separate myself from the character's point of view in the story. That I feel lost in real life, and see my relationships through the lens of the character dynamics in stories. That often times, my body doesn't even feel like mine, and I'm too tired to make it my home. I'm too exhausted to exist in reality. I feel too weak and too broken to be real. I don't feel human, ever. I just crave to be a storybook character.

And yet people continue to wonder why.

being an introject that's literally nothing like it's source is so odd in a system where most of the introjects at least somewhat resemble source material. my source character is someone very uh. . . aggressive. and loud. and angry, and very very competent. he's very good at what he does, and he's not very nice. but I'm. not that. I have trouble holding conversations because I'm so shy, I can't look people in the eye. I'm selective mute because i get so nervous. the difference is so stark sometimes it feels like I'm just a lookalike. I get source separation and all that, but I would rather be more like him than this. and . . . not being like him makes me feel—false in a way. I don't know. these are just thoughts.
