But what they do is actually super cringey to the point where it gives mc secondhand embarrassment. they're trying to be nice about it bc they love their bf, but it's super obvious that they're cringing and it's super awkward and funny (for literally everyone else). And maybe it ends with them laughing about it or something, but the idea just popped into my head and I thought it was funny.

- If there’s anything Ace loves other than you, it’s basket ball

- It makes him feel confident and like he’s the coolest guy on the planet

- And so does his boyfriend. So what amazing idea does he come up with?

- Well why not combine both?

- And that’s how you go invited to one of his games

- In his mind, this is perfect, a basketball game with his amazing boyfriend cheering him on from the sidelines, what could be more perfect?

- Or that’s how he sees it…

- He’s not doing… great per say

- In reality he’s missing passes, Bradley able to catch a pass himself, and the sneaker squeaking is starting to drive you crazy

- But you sit there really, really, trying to be supportive

- The final straw is when he takes a shot and instead of going into the basket, it comes right back at him and hits him directly in the face

- Of course you run up to him and make sure he’s okay

- But once he confirms he’s fine, you can’t help but burst into laughter

- It takes you a minute to calm down and when you do Ace is all pouty

- He’ll be mad at you for a bit but he gets over it eventually

- And once he does he admits that yeah, he was doing pretty bad

- It’s now an inside joke between the two of you, you bring it up any time you can

Deuce Spade

- Deuce’s magic is… interesting

- He can summon massive things and personally thinks that it’s really impressive

- But really, it’s only useful in certain situation and when he can actually summon something on purpose

- He thinks that it would be so impressive to use his magic in potions to help you out

- The way he imagines it, you can’t use magic and you’ll be so impressed by his abilities that you’ll thank him by showering him with affection

- Let a man dream, okay?

- What actually happens is a disaster

- He ends up summoning the usual cauldron, which makes a mess of the project the two of you were working on

- You really did try to tell him it was okay, but on the inside it feels like you’re dying

- The both of you end up having to clean the mess and have to start the project over

- The two of you bud up in his room at the end of the day, him with his face in his hands and you doing your best to comfort him just because he’s so embarrassed

- But hey, he did get that affection he wanted in the end so to him, it’s a win

Leona Kingscholar

- Leona doesn’t usually get up and do much

- As you’re definitely aware, Leona’s favorite activity is napping, especially with you

- But when spelldrive practice came up, he couldn’t waste an opportunity to show off how cool he was to his boyfriend

- And guess what? He invited you to join in with practice

- Great…

- It’s not that you don’t enjoy spending time with Leona it’s just that… you’re not very good at this sport, especially with no magic

- Everyone tried to help you out but it was clear that you were just there because Leona wanted you there

- And during practice, you had a repeat of what happened in this first spelldrive

- Frisbee to the head again

- Listen Leona didn’t know his magic was gonna go haywire and hit you

- He’s quickly by your side, making sure you’re okay

- When you finally get your bearings, thankfully not getting knocked out this time, you can’t help but start laughing

- You don’t think you’ve ever seen Leona’s face get redder

- After that practice gets called off and Leona drags you off to his room

- You’re forced to lay there for however long Leona decides to keep you

- in his words this was your “punishment for embarrassing him”

- In reality, he felt bad for hurting you, but he wouldn’t admit it because he’s all grumpy

- So you lay there, petting his hair as he hugs you close, and also with an ice pack on your currently bruising forehead

Tbh I don’t think those Ryoko Kui interview questions are horrifically Bad Like some people make them out to be. That being said, they are a bit cringey because they’re clearly referencing western fandom headcanons.

The worst response was people armchair diagnosing Kui as autistic because of her answer about Laios.

she took the questions with stride but I do think it's unprofessional and quite curt to approach her primarily as some kind of micro-celebrity instead of a storyteller. the opening question where the interviewer states "you're obviously a fan of ttrpgs" (only for her to shoot them down) was so weird- I could see how you would reach that conclusion (I assumed similar!) but there is plenty of media that invokes similar kinds of mechanics to ttrpgs. why not start by asking her a more open-ended question related to the subject to give her the bandwidth to comfortably expand on her inspiration and thought process before proceeding to engage her about things she has told you that she likes? is that not what a good interviewer does? assuming that there's little to be excavated about her artistic processes, philosophies, hobbies etc or that it's not worth inquiring much about because fans have figured it out is deeply condescending. there were only like, 4 real questions in the whole thing, and they were kind of boilerplate.

I mean, even on the subject of fandom questions- I can't imagine what kind of answers the interviewer believed they were going to get other than vagueness delivered in the tone of diplomacy? it's generally how professional artists are encouraged to handle their work when speaking with the public, especially if their work is commercial. the fact that the interviewer seemed to care the most about the fandomy stuff just made the interview feel like kind of a waste, especially when her denfamicogamer interview was much more in-depth and interesting.

So i felt like doing some reading today and decided on trying to read a modern witchcraft book i got years ago but never got around to reading. As im reading im thinking its a little cringey but whatever i can read past that, and i dont get very far in before i need to go do something else. As i am setting the book back down i glance at the author and it turns out its Skye Alexander and i am reminded of your feelings for that book. Should i bother to keep reading it or just move on to another book now?

Tbh, up to you! I have mentioned that Skye’s book was the most influential book on my craft, because it was so bad it forced me to deconstruct what I do and why.

So, if you continue reading, I highly recommend reading with a pencil in hand. Get a cheap notebook, or a nice journal, or a text document, or the notes app on your phone, or just write in the margins if you have a physical book.

When you come across parts that are cringe, don’t just cringe, take a moment to figure out why and what’s wrong with it. When you come across useful things, write those down too. Analyze them to figure out what you like about them. Do you like the whole spell? Just parts of it?

Basically, my biggest recommendation right is not to treat the book like a professor teaching you a subject, but like a dumpster dive. You can find useful stuff in there, but you gotta get good at identifying what’s just garbage, and that skill will help you get better at identifying your own garbage.

I do not even know where to start with this book!!! I think it might be my favourite read of 2024 so far! It’s been a while since I’ve read a fantasy book like this so it was nice to get back into the genre that made me a reader. I’ve been in the biggest reading slump for about a month now and this was the perfect book to get out of it! The fast paced and easy to understand plot was absolutely hooking, and something about cringey classic fantasy romance just makes me feel so warm inside. Also the plot twist?! I would have never expected that, it was literally the last thing I would’ve thought would happen in this book!

I loved her sm, it made me really happy that she was a total bad bitch and still had a traditionally femenine hobby (sewing) like wdym you killed the boy who broke your heart and you make all your own outfits??! Anyways I wouldn’t really call alessandra a ‘villain’ like the book displayed her as but I still really loved her, like this girl had almost no one in this book 😭 her dad was such an asshole and LEANDROS!!? come on man I was rooting for you. Anyways I love her sm <3

Another book man to add to my fictional boyfriend list, he probably had one of the best love confessions I’ve ever read it was so cute and amazing and just aaahhg!!! also this man was DOWN BAD for alessandra, like he really was in his knees for her fr, like the gentlemans club scene >>>> but the part where *spoilers* he thought she betrayed her made me so sad :( but tbh he had every right to feel that way I mean he’s a paranoid guy so whatever, he was basically the only good guy in this book other than rouhben.

UR SO RIGHTT about everything but specially about ada. i have never and will never understand why people hate her. she's the best character ever and it makes people mad i think!! i saw her for the 1st time when i was like.... 10 i think and i was blown away i was like this is simply the best character to ever exist and i love her. and i still feel the same way tbh she's amazing and i love and i need capcom to stop being little bitches and give her an entire game or something!!!

anyway here's a stupid little analysis about why i love re2r/re4r ada bc talking about her makes me feel insane. i know you did not ask for this but idc i love her

i love ada so much genuinely one of my favorite re characters she is everything to me. she's not a good person. objectively, she's not. on the cringey ass alignment chart that dnd players use, i'd put her at true neutral. she is self-serving. she is selfish. she does what she can to protect herself, she is not doing bad things because she is bad, but because she doesn't feel responsible for the impact she has on others.

she's 24 in a run-down raccoon city, with a mission to obtain the g-virus. simple right? but then she sees a poor, naive young man, maybe a couple years younger than her. he's no threat to her, and she feels sympathetic watching him struggle. it doesn't hurt her to help him, and so she does. it's not done out of a selfless duty to protect others. it just doesn't hurt her mission.

in exchange for saving him, he helps her. she realizes he thinks she protected him selflessly, and suddenly feels a need to push him away. she tells him he can walk away. the silence after leon says, "no chance, you're stuck with me to the end." is sooo telling.

and then he gets shot in the shoulder protecting her. so what is she supposed to do? leave him behind? she's growing attached to him by the minute, and he has done nothing to deserve being left to die. so in a moment of deciding between her selfishness and her attachment, she, for the first time, chooses to help him at her own expense. it's so pivotal for her.

but she still leaves him, and runs after annette. in the end, she wants to help, but she won't sacrifice everything for him. the fact that she gets injured and needs leon to come to her rescue tells her that she needs him too, and she's not some looming guardian angel. she's human and fallible and her injury means she needs assistance finishing her mission.

and in the end, even after she slips out of leon's grasp and falls to her 'death'. she still comes to his rescue at the end. he was never just a pawn to her. he was all she had to get the job done.

she still protects him in the shadows from that point on. and being rejected by him at the end of re4r is so soul crushing to her, you can see it on her face. he wanted to see the good in her, but there is a difference between being good because you are moral and being good because you love someone. just because she helped doesn't make her a good person to him, and that's what hurts the most.

anyway like forget about leon for a second. ada practically abandons her missions at multiple times for him. she is cold upfront to protect herself, and despite it going against her missions, she does what she can to protect who she cares about. she’s not outright cruel, but she’s calculated. she’s deadly but she’s caring and i love that about her.

plus she reminds me of myself in some ways. she’s the moon to leon’s sun in re2r and that makes me want to sob.

one phenomenon on this website that kind of baffles me is when people are like "why would you enjoy [mainstream thing] when you could be paying attention to [thing created by or starring marginalized people]", which on its own is fine and good. romoting diverse media and works that don't get the attention they deserve? sign me up!

but often those posts imply it's somehow impossible for people to enjoy both things at once (or that it's some kind of moral failing to enjoy the mainstream thing at all). that always annoys me but what's worse imo is when the two things op is comparing have absolutely nothing in common whatsoever. like you wouldn't say "why watch Parks and Recreation when you could watch Star Trek: Discovery"??? both excellent amazing shows that i adore. zero overlap in theme, tone, or genre. someone enjoying one does not indicate how they'd feel about the other, in either direction.

like this one post i saw where people were discussing The Love Hypothesis, and one person in the thread said they worked in a bookstore, and whenever someone asked where they could find The Love Hypothesis, they'd say the store didn't have any copies but direct them to Nimona instead

setting aside the fact that it's tbh just kind of obnoxious to not let someone purchase a book you personally find bad or cringey or bland (i haven't read The Love Hypothesis beyond the prologue, so i can't form an opinion just yet, but i am currently reading it because i've seen it get dragged to hell and back, but i've also seen people earnestly enjoy it, and i wanted to give it a fair shake. plus, i like romcoms), why the hell do you think someone interested in The Love Hypothesis would be interested in Nimona?

i ADORE Nimona. it is one of my favorite stories ever. i recommend it to basically everyone. but like... The Love Hypothesis is a contemporary opposites attract romantic comedy set in a college that is aimed at adults. Nimona is a young adult fantasy comedy/parody graphic novel about found family and forgiveness set in an anachronistic otherworld.

these two have exactly zero things in common. if someone hasn't read Nimona, maybe it's not because they're "wasting their time" on The Love Hypothesis. maybe they just don't like graphic novels, or fantasy, or YA!

like, obviously, do promote the works you love, and do encourage people to seek out more diverse media, esp from marginalized creators. but consider your audience. if you know someone loves chocolate bars, you wouldn't just assume they like sour patch kids.

I’m so damn done. Well, not done with the game, but done with life. I know employment is going to be hard and I don’t want to be someone’s housewife. I would have said take me to Mars but I can barely survive when temperatures drop to 16 degrees celsius and if I end up going there and surviving then that means the problems will come back to me. Sigh. 

Well, Game dev time. Since the hiatus, I literally did nothing. I did finish Kyu’s base sprites, Father Figure’s base sprites and started on Priyah’s, but I’ll be honest I haven’t done much else because classes were getting tougher and tougher until pretty much I couldn’t do anything else except eat sleep and study. I think they have the least sprites because they have no line boil (I’d like to think the line boil means they’re getting affected by the game breaking down (I’d like to think the father figure is so damn powerful and immortal he literally sleeps through all the crazy shit that happens because that’s basically all what he does in the games except for punting his kid for eating chips loudly or disturbing his sleep)). So, what am I going to do? Continue Priyah’s sprites, then maybe do Orby’s, which probably would take me a bit longer because they would have line boil. Then maybe the diner cast, because Tiny Terson doesn’t deserve his own base sprites. If there is 1 million Tiny Terson haters I am one of them. If there is only 1 Tiny Terson hater that is me. If there are 0 Tiny Person haters then I am dead.  I’ll start with making the game actually playable after all the base sprites are done because right now it’s just a sandbox with nothing to do.

I have put the demo to make you guys see what I’m talking about (it’s an HTML5 game. It’s really glitchy for some reason and some scenes for some reason can’t load the assets in smhhhhh. I’m going to make the full game downloadable when it’s out for windows because I have a feeling you can’t save on browser. Sorry Mac users. Not sorry. Also, I can't guarantee the downloadable thing at the bottom will run tbh.)

Is it exactly referencing if you’re taking like 2 lines of a song's lyrics? I don’t know but this song has been inadvertently been influencing the way I make jokes lmao deadass whenever I say anything about feeling sad this is how I expect the recipient of my message to read it like.

This song literally was what my early teens was like, like the basic lyrics that get the point across and the "emo" instrumental. Which honestly, it makes sense because this song was written by a 13 year old (which honestly, good for her). I’ll be honest, I really only miss my early teens a little bit because that's when I realized I wanted to be a game dev, but I didn't actually try making games until I was 19, which honestly thank god, because I just know I would make something angsty and cringey at 15. Well... I adore Hocus Pocus 2. If you didn't please ignore my post. I don't want to hear why it was bad. If you DID like it please let's talk about it.

I will say, I DID had two issues with the movie. One, was the fact it's been 29 years even in the movie. IT'S A MOVIE ABOUT WITCHES!! YOU CAN MAKE IT BE 30 YEARS. But whatever.

Second, the fact that in OG the book was given to them by Satan... You know, the devil. Would have been cool to allure to that somehow.

The movie was PERFECT

I had SO MUCH fun watching it. The music was amazing. I wished they had done "I put a spell on you" but honestly, "One way or Another" slapped so hard. GORGEOUS.

That being said, I have to applaud the child actors, I felt they did them real justice. I saw them and I felt they were truly the Sanderson when young, like their mannerisms? Fuck.

And lastly but not least, the young trio was good, after the trailer I was worried they would feel cringey but I think the trailer doesn't do them justice. They were good.

Tbh sometimes when people treat henry and liam like angels in the group or say things like "henry and liam are too bulliable to be bullies" it doesn't make sense to me. Bullies display different personalities and behaviors, but it sure as hell doesn't make them any less of a bully. While henriam may both have typically bullied "cringey" interests, they still do go out of this way to purposely pick on people, just in other realms of interests (like music)

And just cause they aren't as serious and demeaning as Drew, Lia, or Zoey are doesnt mean its less hurtful. Their jokey behaviors still make people feel unworthy. They make fun of people by treating them and the things they like and the person they are as a complete and utter joke, and that still makes people feel bad even if theyre goofing around while doing it. They truly are similar to drew, but the way they bully others is different

I love henry and liam but its weird to see people act like they arent guilty too (i wont say AS much as the others in their friend group but they are near their level)

so. erm. i finished if we were villains one second ago. there are tear tracks still glistening on my face. and i have Thoughts TM

to be frank i wasn't a fan of most of the book (i found the very excessive shakespeare-quoting stilted, pretentious and cringey — and i'm saying this as a person who quotes shakespeare too much for the average sane person and is very annoying about it) but something changed when i was reading act five. i then proceeded to cry through the end bit of act five and the whole epilogue.

i have no idea what i feel about it skjfksdfj i have no idea when i started caring about these pretentious ass bitches enough to cry over them, seeing that for most of the book i was just incredibly annoyed by all of them. although i am proud to say i clocked james and oliver for what they were in their first few interactions. the power of the gaydar ladies and gents

i think part of the problem was that i was comparing it to the secret history so much in my mind (which is practically literary perfection in my mind. i personally believe that donna tartt is a greek muse in disguise and should be treated as such/j) it just paled in comparison — honestly, people need to stop comparing the two or just lumping them into "dark academia" (i'm personally not the hugest fan of aesthetic-based grouping for book recs, but that's a rant for another day)

i think it's a one-time read for me. like yes it was definitely an... interesting experience but probably not good enough to reread? i don't know?? i have zero idea if you like this book or not i just know that you've read it — so apologies if i accidentally offended you or something 😭😭 i would love to hear your thoughts on it though (especially the ending)!

also i have a few other icks about the book:

- oliver and meredith getting together (that was so ???? like i lowkey hated oliver for that)

- filippa's character. it was so ?? like m.l. rio did such a bad job writing her... the idea of her character is awesome but the execution was really not, which was disappointing.

but in general i really liked it :) i read it before the secret history, so thankfully i never unconsciously compared them with eachother (which i've heard is actually really common between people who read tsh first).

i agree with you in the dark academia lumping thing sooo much. like, you often see them side by side, but the only thing they have in common is a friend group + one person dies + school setting. which really doesn't mean much considering that alot of stories are set in schools and include friend groups.

also not to mention that tsh is twice the size of iwwv 😭 idk i get so defensive when ppl bash iwwv for being worse than tsh (even tho i agree)

tbh i loved it alot but i wouldn't reread it either because the oliver and meredith parts where so 💀

My personal thought is he goes where he has an assignment. I sometimes have to write really cringe social posts for work but thankfully they’re not attached to my name. He was probably instructed to hype her up because tbh, I still believe they’re trying to make her happen.

Think about how the kardashians, TikTok influencers, and other random ass “Celebs” pop up and start being placed everywhere and nobody is asking for them and the comments are filled with hate. But do these outlets ever stop? Really think about it. Step back from the fishbowl and observe the other industry ppl who have basically been shoved into our faces without our desire. I think the media knows Fish is DOA but she’s here and unfortunately here to stay for awhile. I think people can and will continue to ignore her so that’ll be pretty funny to watch.

I’m also sure fish wasn’t rude to Jeff because I doubt she’s like openly a rude person. I’m not trying to defend her because I know people on here will feel how they feel about this girl, but she’s not going to be a brat to everyone just because people want to hate her.
