But until then they will be at each other’s throats
Tbh, If you aren’t Black or Asian then I don’t think it’s fully appropriate to comment on like, any of this, especially even mentioning “the being at each others throats,” part if I’m being honest, like. Black ppl as a whole don’t really have much of an issue with anyone else, it’s usually just the other way around really and for the most part, we accept everyone (sometimes to a fault,) into our space and culture. Just as long as it’s not appropriative or making fun of us then it’s like, what can you do? There will always be conversations needed to be had in order to build some kind of common ground between poc but yeah.
#black ppl can’t stop non blacks from getting locks and using a blaccent/aave or this and that but hey what can you do#rambling#tkf replies#I don’t want be put on the spot to talk about race stuff like this tbh it’s a bit 😭#anonymous#the video itself was whatever like I’ll roll my eyes because the dude probably wanted locks because he thinks black ppl look cool or he#might listen to like chief keef or whatever tf but it’s whatver like at this point my bare minimum for cultural appropriation of black folk#is to at least talk to black ppl (like do these ppl ever have any black friends or ppl they hang around before they do all of this….. not#really so it’s a bit…. odd most of the time but whatever)#they watch a few rap videos and think that is how every black person in the world must be#like just as long as they aren’t saying the n word and using aave then I can look the other way I guess I don’t have the energy#to focus on stuff like then otherwise#it’s already a hopeless and losing battle at this point but just as long as other ppl remember that black people aren’t just their silly#little makeup and fashion trend that they can slap on at any moment when they want to look cool#and that we are people with a vast amount of culture that should be respected than alright#I learned in the comments of that post that there is also a huge chicano subculture in Jp as well#the Japanese girls dress up as latina’s and everyone’s obsessed with lowriders so that’s something#that’s…. something………#regardless of how it starts it’s always nice to see people want to learn about how other people live#their lives their culture their everything#the world can be reset tomorrow and I bet you 1 million bucks that after a couple of millions of years#there would still be cultures shared and expanded upon between ppl wanting to learn grow love and share are innate to us as humans

The most embarrassing series of posts about Lawlu you will ever read: edition Dressrosa (part 6)
Two long posts in one day?? I guess I really wanted to get into "carrying Law like a bag of treasure" mini-arc that badly haha. Love is a hurricane so let's go!
Tumblr media
Luffy's back to his "I don't have time for this" antics. He wants to save Torao, there's no time to be idle or to waste, alright!
Tumblr media
Luffy's done with being patient and sticking to plans. He was interested in his life to stick to only one plan anyway, which he believes is shattered now. Too bad, Viola. You're just not Law.
Tumblr media
Luffy has enough of waiting! Faster, faster! And again, not interested in any other plans, unless they're Law's. (yes, he asks about the plan, but only to complain. He's not gonna listen)
Tumblr media
Torao's fine! Luffy looks really happy and he calmed down a bit and does he have a slight blush here or what lol. But like I told you all, he's not interested in listening to plans and idling around. He wants to go, go, go and he isn't even trying to understand what they're waiting for. This is the Luffy we all know, the "before Law" Luffy lol.
Tumblr media
To understand why Law says that the alliance is finished, we need to rewind to his fight with Doflamingo. He said that to protect the Strawhats. In case Law gets captured and loses (and he expected to be defeated), cutting his ties with Strawhats should make them all leave the country, right? After all they will have no more business here because the whole alliance was focused on Law's plan, and once that is no longer their business, in Law's mind it means they will leave. After all that's what pirates do. They don't care about countries, old allies etc.
I mean, if it was anyone else than Strawhats, Law would be right, wouldn't he? He just didn't know them well enough yet at this point. He probably thought saving kids at Punk Hazard was just a whim on their part, a precedence, and normally they would only do such things for their friends. And Law isn't their friend, neither is anyone in Dressrosa.
Tumblr media
Luffy: Omg Law I missed you so much!
Law: Not this again!
Luffy wastes no time anymore and is so, so happy to be able to rescue Law it's unreal. Meanwhile Law tries to push him away, shocked that he's here.
Tumblr media
He tries three different tactics to push Luffy away: 1. You were supposed to take care of the factory, did you do it already? 2. The alliance is no more, scram from here 3. If you rescue me, I will be your enemy!
This is probably The Moment when Trafalgar Law realized Luffy treats him as a friend, someone to risk your life for to help. Law isn't having any of that. Luffy risks his life for friends, and Law wants the exact opposite: protect him no matter what. Those two desires clash here.
Luffy almost fell for it, to be fair. But then decides he will rescue Law no matter what he's saying. He did the same for Ace in Marineford, despite Ace screaming this is not his business, so why would Law's words stop him now?
I love how Luffy calls Law selfish. I mean, he's kinda right about it. Law doesn't take into account Luffy's feelings here. And Luffy also doesn't take Law's feelings into account here. It's a battle of who will rescue the other, lol. They're so hopeless, I swear...
Tumblr media
Law's last attempt gets completely ignored. He again is dragged into Luffy's pace here and he knows it. He lost to Luffy, again. Hence why he will allow himself to "get saved" from this moment on, which I think makes Luffy actually happy - after all Ace didn't allow himself to be saved.
And yes, the "I'll kill you" is a lie. All things Ace said at Marineford to keep Luffy away were also lies. Those are all hints for us to connect the dots here. Not that anyone believed Law here anyway lol. There's just no way he would actually harm Luffy after trying to protect him for freaking two arcs now. But he would and will say just about anything, if it has even a slight chance of pushing Luffy away.
Now we have to address the elephant in the room. Does it all mean that Trafalgar Law was suicidal and actually expected Luffy to leave him to die? Well, yes and no. Yes, because he does care for Luffy more than he cares for himself, for multiple reasons (low self-esteem might be one of them actually). Let's not forget Luffy is the life he saved in Marineford. Saving lives means everything to Law.
No, because did you notice Viola magically spawned a key to Law's cuffs? Did you notice how prepared she was in this whole arc, even handing Sanji a map to secret factory, almost like she knew that's exactly the thing they're missing in their plan? Well. I think Law lied and did visit Dressrosa before. And made Viola his secret ally, a great chess piece on the board that's capable of making her own decisions and prepared in case Law needs a backup plan (remember fake cuffs in Punk Hazard? It's the same logic applied here. Law always covers ways to recover from precarious situations/possible emergencies/mistakes). In other words, getting captured by Mingo and rescued with help of his ally, was a part of his backup plan. Yes, he planned his own capture, you heard me right. It wasn't his plan A. Just a backup plan B or C.
You're welcome if that turned your understanding of Dressrosa's plot upside down. I'm always happy to deliver! Oh if you only knew how much of Law's plan was probably obscured from us. Because I don't think Viola is his only secret ally. Ofc you're free not to believe it and just accept the old truth fandom believes in, which is Law being a selfish suicidal idiot. Let's move on for now!
Tumblr media
Important to remember: this is Law's narration here. After all he's the only one in this group that knows what Doffy's birdcage is, having experienced it before. He has a clear PTSD moment about it and speaks his actual mind here. Which is him being terrified that innocent people will die, all because Law's plan went to shit. He's most likely already blaming himself for that. This is definitely not the result he wanted, which might be one more reason why his original plan was so indirect in dethroning Doflamingo. He was hoping to avoid stuff like this.
Tumblr media
Luffy taking care of Law's sword <3 Busy talking with Zoro over some stuff, meanwhile Law pays attention to Doffy's broadcast, because Luffy doesn't. Those two really fill each other's blank spots, and they do so naturally.
Tumblr media
First time Law hears that Luffy is now after Doflamingo. He reacts to it, trying to make Luffy understand that it's a dangerous decision, assuming Luffy is just swayed by emotions.
Tumblr media
And their wishes clash again. Law tells Luffy it's better to give it up and scramble. Law no longer tries to push Luffy away, he realizes he lost that battle already. But he's still not giving up on keeping Luffy safe. Ironic, considering he's practically helpless and cuffed here (but the key to the cuffs should be nearby). Just moments ago he clearly regretted the fact innocent people got dragged into this deadly game, but here he is trying to downplay it and even disregard it as not important.
Luffy's not having any of that. Either he heard his regret before and connected the dots, or he still deeply believes Law to be a good person. He expects him to want to help this country too. If Luffy doesn't doubt Law even once, no matter what Law has to say about it, why should we? Luffy's usually the best at reading people, their emotions and judging if they're good people or not. I definitely trust him when he calls someone a good person, and i think you all should as well.
What Luffy and Law are actually communicating here is this:
Law: "This is going too far, we should stop. We might lose our lives here" (as in: I don't want you to lose your life here).
Luffy: "This is no time to be worrying about that! We're already dragged in this!" Or even... "I'm not letting you give up everything just to protect my life! I will carry your wish to save Dressrosa!" (but I doubt Law understands it this way)
Of course Law is taken aback here. He doesn't understand why Luffy is so attached to this country already or why he made his final decision already (and we might also question it with him, because we saw how Luffy respected the plan before! Not even Rebecca or fake peace could sway him! And Law apparently was more aware of it than we expected him to be). It was less than a day. He will find out eventually though, because it will keep bugging him and be constantly on his mind, hence his immediate reaction:
Tumblr media
And now he finally gets it. Yep, it was because of food. And it will be because of food again in Wano. It's not the full reason, but oh god it is hilarious. Neverending cycle of suffering for Law continues on.
I guess Luffy's deep interest in Law is reciprocated after all. Law is also unusually interested in things concerning Luffy and stuff about Luffy seems to be always on Law's mind.
Tumblr media
Law already knows what's gonna happen, just by hearing "the direct one!!" answer. He still is in disbelief.
Tumblr media
Neverneding cycle of suffering. No wonder he becomes a zen monk by Wano.
Tumblr media
And it continues. He clearly doesn't enjoy the freestyle jumping off the cliff while being at someone else's mercy or being tossed around. Luckily for him, Luffy holds him tight.
Tumblr media
Considering how he was just so heavily manhandled, you can't hold it against Law here that he's kinda petty. Also Luffy's panic is adorable, he's like "oh no, I totally messed it up" which he usually wouldn't care much about, but now he's literally carrying Law with him, so it's no longer about his own safety (he doesn't care) but Law's (he cares about that a lot). And can I just point out since Luffy grabbed Law he never lets him go anymore? Yeah, he loses him occassionally, but never lets Zoro carry him even for a second. Nope, Luffy's gonna carry his own treasure the whole way all up to Mingo's castle and no one's gonna put hands on it!
Tumblr media
And I believe this to be the reason. Luffy knows that the whole Doflamingo's Family got a beef with Law, but also normal citizens would be trying to get Law, and Law is still wearing seastone cuffs so can't do much. So Luffy takes it upon himself to take care of him now! And he's so overprotective he won't let anyone else do that!
Tumblr media
And again, it's mutual. Law, despite his position, will still fret over Luffy's wellbeing all the time. My god, can they just stop being so obvious? Worry for yourself for once, Law!
Tumblr media
He worries and worries some more and doesn't even complain when he lands face first on the ground.
Special mention for Luffy caring about innocent people, because this proves to Law that Luffy actually does care deeply about things like that! By Wano Law will accept it as the truth and Luffy's general MO.
Tumblr media
I wonder how it felt when Luffy laughed while holding Law on his arm like that. Law must have felt him laughing through the vibrations in his own body. It's just... so casually intimate between them. Of course Law doesn't miss the chance to actually scold them both, because they do attract unneccessary troubles on them and they're already in bad spot. Law's worrying never ends!
Tumblr media
I just wanna point it out: Luffy is falling here, but he still holds Law close, refusing to let him go.
Tumblr media
This is here just so you can also stare at both of them lying down at the same time, because that's so rare, whenever Luffy's not on guard, Law usually is, but not here. Here they're just both little sheeps and Zoro has to step up his game instead. Maybe on some subconscious level, Law actually feels safe when Luffy carries him, because he felt safe when Corazon carried him forever ago as well.
Tumblr media
I just love how Luffy realizes what Cavendish is up to and rescues Law. And there we go, the infamous "crewmate" debate. Let's start with Luffy. Many people assume Luffy just lied here to protect Torao, because that's the easiest option. But it doesn't take into account Luffy's personality. Luffy never jokes about crewmate's status and if he calls you one, he actually means it (yes, I do believe he tried to seriously recruit zombie tree and Kinemon's legs. He was so deeply disappointed when he found out Kin's legs aren't a seperate entity!). Luffy means every word he said here and he only voices it outloud exactly because it will help keep Cavendish away from Law. And it's not the first time the "nakama" thing is hinted at:
Tumblr media
He says it here as well. "My crew's life is more important than flame-flame fruit". But at this point none of the Strawhats is in any immediate danger. Law though, is, indeed.
But when did Luffy start to think of Law as his crewmate? Punk Hazard? Dressrosa after he saw Law being shot? Well, my personal bet is right after Marineford. Because by rescuing him Law proved to Luffy he's a good person. And that's all Luffy needs to want someone as a crewmate. It does help though that he saw Law fight and must consider him really strong.
There's one interesting thing here though. Usually when Luffy declares someone his crewmate/nakama, he would pursue them no matter what. But in Law's case, he just... waits. Seems he wants Law to be the one to make the final decision, and until he does, Luffy will wait for him forever. You think I'm reaching? Watch till we get to Wano haha.
Funny thing is, Zoro caught up on that before Luffy even put it into words. Let's remind ourselves of Zoro's sword languague in Water 7 for a moment:
Tumblr media
He explains he doesn't pick sides and he draws his sword a bit and closes it again ("clicking" it) to make the point. He also gives his friends a choice: they need to decide now whether Robin is an enemy or a crewmate (original uses the nakama word). Now fast forward to Dressrosa:
Tumblr media
Zoro does the same gesture from Water 7 and it's meant for Law. He's telling him basically the same message here "choose your side, are you with us (nakama) or against us (enemy)." It's right after Luffy and Law quarrel about fleeing or staying and helping the country. Law is also a swordsman, he most likely understood the message, hence his shocked reaction, because he was faced with an ultimatum from Luffy's wingman.
And what's Law's stance on it? He clearly refused there, right? "I'm not!" but that was before he was ready to give his actual answer, so of course he would be mad, he semi-expected this is Luffy deciding things for him. He realizes just a moment later that it's actually not the case and why Luffy said it, hence he shuts up. He shares his final decision only after Zoro leaves to fight Pica and I bet you anything it was on purpose, he was avoiding giving his actual answer in front of the other. Maybe he just thinks Zoro's crazy and might indeed treat him as an enemy as the result... or maybe, just maybe, he is actually torn. I mean, he's allowed to feel confused, he just evolved from a friend to a crewmate in a matter of one hour or less.
Tumblr media
Law's hat is on and so is Luffy's, at the exact same time. Shared solidarity <3
Tumblr media
Law isn't often taken aback by Luffy, but here he is. I guess it's the first time he sees Luffy so stupidly stubborn over something and the realization hits him like a truck. Yes, Law, Luffy can be just as stubbornly petty as you, are you up for the competition? Seeing your face I would assume that's a "no" haha. He might later on.
Tumblr media
Law: Too close! (he's making a very uncomfortable expression and Jeef is leaning all over him).
Luffy: Hands off and get off!!
It looks like Luffy wants to protect Law, but actually I think he's just trying to literally push the guy off so he can win the petty competition of who reaches Doffy first. I'm sure Law appreciated Luffy pushing the guy off.
But it can be also because Luffy wanted Jeef and Abdullah to get away from his treasure that he tugged on Moocy right behind himself lol.
Should we ask ourselves another question? Why is Law allowing himself to be handled this way? There are actually multiple possible reasons for that: 1. He decided that no matter what Luffy wants he will tag along with it, there's no way he's leaving Luffy alone to face Mingo 2. He actually likes being carried around (we have Corazon to thank for that) 3. He's actually too weak in those cuffs to get himself to that palace. Which would explain why he doesn't even try to sit up while on Moocy or why his guard wasn't on around Cavendish, normally he wouldn't allow himself a mistake like that, no matter how much Luffy manhandled him. Though like I said before, I don't exclude "trust" as the partial reason as well. I just don't think it would be enough to make Law stop fretting and worrying.
The love adventures of Luffy carrying Law around will continue in next part!

Surrender
"Seems like I've won again," Villain gloats, their smile all teeth as they land near their panting nemesis.
“Oh fuck off,” Hero groans, pulling themselves up from the ground. Every bone in their body feels worn down and ancient. The past two months have taken their toll on their body. Hero brushes their fingers over their sore thigh, a huge bruise already forming along the outer side of it. “Asshole.”
“It’s your fault, sweetheart,” Villain claims, unfazed when Hero grants them with a scowl. “I thought you knew how to put up a fight.”
And no, Villain did not intend for it to sound insulting. It just came out wrong. It’s not like they did not enjoy their battles. This was their favourite pastime. What could be more fun than an intense clash with a worthy opponent?
Except, Hero did not seem to appreciate their efforts anymore. Not for the last couple of months, they did not. And that would hurt Villain’s pride if only they weren’t so confident. Hero had hoped the evident lack of enthusiasm and vigour would make Villain question things, but alas. Villain was oblivious. Blissfully so.
Hero clenches their teeth, suppressing a growl when Villain decides they didn’t take enough beating yet and charges at them again.
“How many times am I gonna have to beat you for you to understand you can't defeat me?” Villain’s tone is scornful, almost mocking. Hero is on the verge of plain eliminating them. Solely for attitude.
Oh, how they want to show Villain what they’re capable of. Give the dense little shit a taste of their own medicine and send them flying across the city straight into the hospital. A month in intensive care would do them good.
But they cannot.
“How many times am I gonna have to lose for you to realise I'm not trying to defeat you?”
The words slip out before Hero can stop them. Villain freezes in their tracks, and Hero mirrors them. Maybe this is for the better. God knows how long it would take their fool of a Villain to figure it out.
“Excuse me?” Villain looks scandalised, eyes wide open as they take a step back, hands gesturing between them. “What the fuck are we doing then? Ballet?”
“Well, you're obviously trying to beat me to a pulp,” Hero scoffs, grateful for the shock that reserves Villain from another attack.
“I’m really... not. I just want you to surrender to me.” They explain, surprised at the easiness of their own revelation. Their eyes roam over Hero’s frame, bruised and bloodied. “That leaves my question unanswered.”
“Hm?” Hero straightens, pushing off the wall and striding towards Villain, who remains frigid despite the wheels in their head, turning at an ungodly speed.
“If I'm the only one fighting to slay you,” they start, watching Hero’s every movement with caution and... anticipation? Villain shakes their head to set their thoughts in place, yet they are left floating around aimlessly. “What are you doing exactly?”
Come to think of it, Hero was much stronger than them. The only way for Villain to score a win was by outsmarting them. Which they often did, but now it felt like Hero was the one that tricked them. A revolting thought for a genius with a reputation to uphold.
“Struggling to get you to realise a thing or two,” Hero sighs in exasperation, hopeless at this point. The charming dumbass they called their archnemesis was never gonna get it, were they?
“Like?” Villain persists, refusing to admit their agitation. Hero is within reach now, and Villain struggles to keep their hands at their sides. Their fingers curl into fists to resist the urge to grasp them and demand an explanation.
“Like the fact that I've been slayed a long time ago,” Hero’s voice is a whisper as they take one last step, coming face to face with their enemy, their noses inches apart. It takes Villain a second to register the words and the meaning behind Hero’s smile. “I surrender.”
With an audible growl, they push Hero back and press them against the wall with a hungry kiss.
“Took you long enough,” Hero grins, earning a pointed look. Villain shakes their head, leaning in for another kiss before taking their idiot of a hero home to patch them up and lecture them on the virtues of oral communication.

Forever and Always and Our Will
Eonwë x reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Please don't run me down with a pitchfork, bricks, microwave, gun or axe because I hurt your bird boi :)
Warnings: war descriptions, fighting and blood, strangulation (it's all in the heat of battling), break-ups, getting philosophical and questioning Eru's will
Word: 2.2k
Synopsis: “You sound just like the rest of them, pathetic and hopeless. The exact reason why I can't stand to be around the lot of you...” those were the last words you spoke to him before your back became the last image he saw for more than five hundred years and an age.
Tumblr media
The room was filled with the howls and bellows of the great warrior Eonwë. Healers fought to strap him down to the bed as he fought to escape their grasp, begging and pleading with them to give him relief by letting him free. With a violent swing of his hand, he struck two of Irmo and Estë’s healers down, and the sound of metal clattering to the floor followed. Eonwë felt weak yet strong at the same time and hated the pity that he was being drowned in. The solicitousness from his King and the other Valar around him made his stomach convulse. He didn't want their pity or sympathy; he wanted them to set him free.
He wanted to be free to find you and return you home. He was furious with their choice of judgement—let you roam about freely without any repercussions for your actions. As much as he loved you, Eonwë believed that you deserved to be dealt with harshly. You already tore his heart out willingly the day you chose to follow your fellow Maia all for the sake of a better world and order. His stomach turned at the mere thought of his conversation with you before you walked out.
“I believe that Melkor would bring about a better world than what Eru has promised us. Look at this place, you and I both know that the future of this world is doomed as long as we're under his will Eonwë,” he flinched as you called his name. The bitterness of it rolled off your tongue like poison as you cursed him.
“The future can change Y/N, you don't have to do this. Eru's will isn't as terrible as you make it sound to be. His will is just as great as he,” he did his best to reason with your logical and illogical facts. He had no idea of what was promised to come to this world since all he sang were praise to his Creator before he descended. So, you were wrong, the future could change, it was forever changing.
“You sound just like the rest of them, pathetic and hopeless. The exact reason why I can't stand to be around the lot of you...” those were the last words you spoke to him before your back became the last image he saw for more than five hundred years and an age.
The next time you both saw was on the battlefield with Sauron. Embellished in your arrays of colours—black and red—you stood side by side with Sauron wielding your spear; never one for swords ever since he knew you. Your own crimson stained your face and clothes alongside his that you drew multiple times. Eonwë didn't know what was stopping him from taking you down, or maybe he did, but it caused him to lose more blood than ever.
Gashes to his forehead, nearly taking his eyes and to his chest in an attempt to claw out his heart. Whether you did or not, Eonwë's heart was really to fall to the ground upon the first reunion in over an age.
“Sickens me to see you fighting for hope, maybe you'll die along with it when I'm through with you...” your arms shot out to take his head off with your golden spear, coated in the rich ruby of his comrades. Mocking him with all his Elder King and God's praising and wills to drive him to a point of no return, Eonwë was falling for all your tactics. He hated the idea of someone insulting the beauty and perfection he worshipped. Part of his mind knew that you were right, this could have been avoided but it was a part of his natural fault to let things be. It wasn't as if he could fight it, reject and cast it aside. He didn't have the freedom you gave to yourself, and it was a part of his design, he had to fight.
“Gonna cry about it little birdie, go cry to your God and King about how you can't break yourself from the faults of this world and your,” catching him off guard with a kick off your foot, you brought him to the ground and clambered atop him, wrapping your dirty and grimy hand around his neck, “...freedom.”
Smaller and more agile than him, you still had strength left in your body to attempt to apply pressure around his neck while laughing and spitting your blood across his face, “Cry my little songbird, shed those tears for me and maybe I'll grant you the freedom you desire. I'll send you to a place where you don't have to worry any longer, hmm.”
He didn't have it in him to throw you off, whatever you were whispering to him weakened his body. Arms limp, legs weak and lulled to the side, wings beating on the ground and tears pricked his eyes as he watched yours filled with anger, hatred and confusion directed towards him. But it wasn't, it wasn't for him, it was at Eru.
All the life in his body was slowly being drained and he did nothing to stop you. What if because of Eru's will, he had to die by your hands, and he wasn't to resist? Was this how his life was to end, by his former love and not by Mairon? Not by Dagor Dagorath? Not by Morgoth? Just lying on the blood-stained ground, rolling around and grappling one another until the other stopped living. Even the laughter escaping your throat pushed him further into a relaxed state that refused for him to take up arms.
“Is that the best you can do,” his eyes fluttered as you leaned in, applying more pressure to bare your teeth at him hauntingly, "pathetic just like the rest of them...don't worry, when I'm through with you, they'll all come to keep you company…”
No, he couldn't lose his life so easily, he was a warrior and the best. He wouldn't let his life vanish by your hands whether he loved you or not. You made your decision, it was time for him to come to terms with his. Manwë made it clear that he would have to face you and to brace himself. Eonwë knew this, though he had come to terms with it which was why he fought. He fought to break free of the chains wrapped around his mind. The pretty chains that you planted in his head to fool him.
The tears were already running free. Fire and brimstone fell around him and you were all he saw through the tears. There was still love for you, and his heart was still beating for you, but sometimes the greatest sacrifices required the strongest will. He would push through it and defeat you, even if it meant never seeing you again for aeons, you would be healed and cured and freed from the lies you were fed. His soul would be at rest, as would be yours. Yes.
Gathering what little strength that was left in him, he used it to release a few feathers from his wings and direct them towards your clothes. Gripping the fibres and tugging, his feathers threw your body off his and into the air before you crashed into a dirt pile. A loud wheeze followed by coughing ripped through Eonwë's throat as his hands rose to grip his neck. He was begging his body to move for once, move with the agility he once possessed to take you down. Please, please.
Crawling and wheezing with bile running out his mouth, face reddened and dirty, his hands searched the blackened ground for his swords. He heard from the distance the sounds of crunching approaching his weakened figure and it terrified him. What next were you going to do? Whipping his head to the side, he observed you staggering over to him with a dagger in your hand.
Turning himself over, he fell onto his butt and curled his wings in, summoning the rest of his feathers. If he was going to fight you, he needed every ounce of protection—you were out to kill.
“If we’re gonna fight...we're gonna do this fairly,” Eonwë coughed his words as he glared at you with sorrow and venom in his eyes.
In return, your head cocked at his commanding words, “Big words from a pretty little bird boy who still has his head in the clouds!” At the end of your scream, you lunged at him, dagger raised to strike.
Eonwë rolled out of the way with ease, knocking into his sword in the process and snatching it up to rise it as you swung again to take his head. Your dagger slid off his sword and accidentally clipped a few of his feathers off prompting him to groan. It was the act that drove him to act out of rage.
“Enough!” swinging his sword to the side, and engaging in a heated fight, feathers and swords were clashing against one another in the open clearing. Not a single soul intervened in the battle between you both. Screams and shouts of profanities and slurs were exchanged but only on your end to weaken the herald. You were growing tired, as was he but Eonwë was driven to end this fight.
Spinning on your heel to drive your spear into his side, his wings came down to block, taking most of the damage. At this stage, Eonwë's wings were his shield instead of his armour and it didn't take you long to understand what needed to be done to walk away alive. If this battle was a part of Eru's will, you were hoping that you had broken free, enough to keep you alive to see the end of everything because this could be your last move. But then again, whether you lived or died, he would be traumatized from the heat of the moment.
Was the sacrifice worth it, to see him in pain for eternity and hear him curse your name?
Finding an opening when he turned his back as he spun to deflect, with a burst of energy, you lunged forward and snatched him by the base of his wings. A foot to his back and he fell into the dirt while you latched onto his wings with your dagger in hand. Eonwë didn't wish to fathom what you were about to do but he had to experience it to understand.
The pain was sharp and searing, antagonizing and heated as if a liquid fire was being poured into his veins. Clawing at the blood-stained floor, his own blood spurted from his back as you slashed messily at his wings, clipping him. Screams and cries to stop weren't saving him as he wriggled like a worm. He couldn't move with your weighted foot on him and the nightmarish laughter hovering and cornering him like prey.
How did he let this happen? How did he fall? When did you become a predator?
“I warned you I'd clip those wings for you to open your eyes...too bad, I did love your wings. Tis your fault you lost them,” walking onto his back, you became weightless, but Eonwe had no strength to throw you off, you stooped over him, “this could have been avoided you know darling.” His body shivered at the use of his old name. You knocked his helmet off and ran your grimy fingers through his white curls, smiling at its softness. It was still there.
“We could have still been if only you had listened to me and broken free, now look. You submitted to his will and lost your beautiful wings to me. It wouldn't have been that way if only...” leaning in to hover, your lips were only an inch from his face before they came down to kiss his tear-stained cheek, “I'm sorry and I love you still, but some things just have to be. The greatest sacrifices do require the strongest will...farewell my little songbird. Sing me for still, I'll be listening.”
In an instant, you were gone, and the war was over and now he was screaming out in pain from having his wings clipped. Manwë watched from the distance with hurt in his heart for his herald that was like his son. There wasn't anything that the healers could do to return his wings not even Eru was responding to his calls for a solution. Everything was silent and loud. Heavy and gloomy while hopeful and victorious. The war was won but at the cost of questioning the will of his creator. Did everything that occurred didn't have another option or path? Were you truly right? Had he followed he would have given himself easily to the dark side, but freedom was there.
Croaking your name throughout the healing halls and cursing you for your actions, a part of his heart grew distasteful and dark towards you, but another part was thankful for opening his eyes. Perhaps one day he would discover you on his own, even if it meant hunting you down, he would find you. Your heart was still beating and reaching out to him after all.

The Snow Woman of the Biscuits Room
I wonder what made Monet think Doflamingo would kill her for losing to a superior enemy.
Tumblr media
彼は追わせないわ!! "M"にもしもの事があったら ......わたしジョーカーに消されちゃう // I won’t let you go after him!!! If something happens to "M"... Joker will waste me.
She also licks her lips just like him. Guess it’s contagious.
From what is known, there is no reason for this: Doffy didn’t punish Buffalo and Baby 5 in any way for their failure to retrieve Caesar, not to mention the fact that he let enemies snatch Caesar from under his nose to save Giolla’s life, even though he risked never seeing him again.
But Monet was pretty much ready to give up her life, and I don’t even mean the detonator switch.
Tumblr media
困るわ... 子供達は"M"の大切な実験体... 私の任務は... [シーザーとその実験を守る事] // I’m in trouble... Those children are Master’s precious test subjects... My duty is... “to protect Caesar and his experiments“...
As Caesar’s assistant, Monet should’ve been well aware that the gigantification experiment was complete bullshit, and all Big Mom’s money were spent on wrestling with cabaret girls. She was an important crewmember, in fact the only Logia user, and she thought she was expected to detonate the weapon in case of emergency. Despite all this, she entered into a hopeless battle.
Tumblr media
あなたさっきから... 受けるばかりで私に刃を向けようとしないのはなぜ...!? 正直あなたには勝てる気がしてなかったけど... 案外...... そうでもないかしら? // All this time... Why’ve you been only blocking and never pointing your blades at me?! To be honest, I didn't think I could win against you, but... unexpectedly... It might not be the case?
Maybe she thought that if she failed at anything, then she was already dead meat... But in any case she was ready for death.
Well, even with all her resolve, she didn't become less afraid of it.
Tumblr media
斬られる!!! // He’ll slay me!!!
Tumblr media
バカに...... シテル...!!! // Huff... Huff... Don’t make... a fool of me!!!
The whole personality of Monet is of duality: a beautiful woman and a snow-cold monster, a warped maternal instinct and the death that awaited children at the end, a part that said goodbye to her life and a part that wants to live.
Tumblr media
体の自由が利かないんだ...!! 覇気を使われてたら死んでいた事実と... 圧倒的な強者への[恐怖]で!!! こんな勝ち方があるの...!? // She can't control her body..! It’s because of the fact she would've died if he’d used Haki... because of the fear of the overwhelmingly strong person!!! Is such a way to win even possible?!
逃が...さない...!! // I-I... won’t let you... go!!!
Her being left alive was the best scenario for the situation (not to mention herself), but she forced herself to make one last desperate attack with no chance of victory. Even if Zoro hadn't finished her off, Tashigi could’ve delivered the final blow, which she did.
Tumblr media
...あなたの... 負けです......!! // ...It’s your loss..!
But Monet somehow managed to survive and get to building C. To be honest, I don’t think Tashigi intentionally spared her, especially if we recall Tashigi’s views.
Tumblr media
こちら...... モネ...!! // This is... Monet..!
モネ...!! よく生きていたな... ヴェルゴはやられた...!! シーザーもな...... だがベビー5とバッファローが身柄を確保できそうだ. おれの見誤りだ... おまえらに悪い事をした // Monet..! It’s amazing you survived... They got Vergo..! Caesar too... But Baby 5 and Buffalo should be able to retrieve him. I misread the situation... I’ve done a terrible thing to you all...
Tumblr media
// ...But in order to ensure safety I want to waste those brats there. In lab 3... lies in wait the same weapon that destroyed labs 1 and 2 and the island 4 years ago..! If the detonator button is pressed, the only one who can survive will be Caesar, who can withstand the poisonous gas... The switch is in...
それ以上言わないで ジョーカー. はじめからそのつもりよ // Say no more, Joker. I've been meaning to do that right from the start.
It's basically a race against time with the group that will soon be able to get to Caesar and leave the island, and despite this, Doflamingo takes a long time to explain the things that should’ve been drilled into her from the very beginning. Why? There’s only one logical explanation: he thought she didn’t know. Her words shocked him, as evidenced by his "!?" after hearing them.
If she really didn't know, she would've been forced to go all the way from building B to C while wounded and probably wouldn't have made it in time. It would've made more sense to instruct her to do this long before, and yet he didn't.
This makes me remember Mr. 7 and Ms. Father’s Day in chapter 206.
Tumblr media
Crocodile gave them the job of guarding the cannon until it went off and killed everyone fighting in the middle of Alubarna, but he deliberately didn’t tell them that they would be promoted to a better world. On contrary, Doflamingo made sure Monet fully understands the consequences of detonating the weapon.
Monet wanted to be useful to her savior, so she didn’t even think about about not doing it. Perhaps she thought that she would be killed anyway, but she herself didn’t consider her life important.
Tumblr media
今その起爆スイッチの前にいる... 爆発はタンカーにまで及ぶわ. 一隻無駄になるけどいい? // I’m in front of the detonator switch right now... ...The explosion will reach the tanker. Do you mind losing one ship?
......悪いな // ...I’m sorry.
隻 is the counter for ships, and 一隻 means “one ship” - just some ship, not even Oro Jackson, meaning Monet valued her life less than one single ship (even though, again, a Logia is much more valuable).
Tumblr media
全てを道連れに...... 死んでくれ...!!! // Please die taking everything with you...!!!
了解"若様" // Roger, young master.
Why did I write “please”? Kure is a form of kudasai. Let's look at, for example, Chapter 5 (Japanese Imperatives and Force Exertion) of The English Imperative: A Cognitive and Functional Analysis, a doctoral dissertation in linguistics by Hidemitsu Takahashi from Hokkaido University (pp. 188-190):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, it was a request, not an order, but there’s is also a question of relationships. When your boss says “please print the documents”, is this an order or a request? It’s easy to guess how Monet, who considered herself not a real comrade, but just a tool, would interpret this.
This is most likely related to the image that Trebol created for Doffy specifically for this purpose.
Tumblr media
ドフィを王に掲げ部下たちに威厳を示し!! // We proclaimed Doffy the king and with this we instill awe in the subordinates!!!
Although the Donquixotes are a family, he is first and foremost their boss, who must be strong 24/7 and on whom the life and death of his subjects depends.
Tumblr media
すまん 相棒...... ......おまえとは一番古い付き合いだ. 今日まで... ごくろうだったな // ...I'm sorry, buddy... ...You go back with me further than anyone. Thank you... for your hard work until today.
ご苦労 (ごくろう) is used by superiors to express appreciation for all the work their subordinates have done. This might’ve sound heartless as the last words to a friend, but Doflamingo seemed to know that Vergo would be happy to hear just that. Him being happy in the face of death due to being praised for his service still looks very sad.
Tumblr media
That's all Doffy could do for him; there was no way for him to save Vergo, as Law left him for dead in the SAD production room, which was about to explode. Could it be that Law made Vergo unable to speak in order to put him in the same position he was in 13 years ago, when he was unable to say his last words to Corazon? If we follow the principle of "an eye for an eye", then at that moment his personal revenge to Doflamingo was completed.
Tumblr media
D棟だ. SAD製造室......!!! // It’s building D. The SAD production room!!!
It was the explosion that Monet heard.
Tumblr media
どこかで爆発だ... // There's an explosion somewhere...
Tumblr media
さよなら若様. あなたこそが海賊王になる男...!!! // Goodbye, young master.  You are the man who will become the Pirate King!!!
So much like Ace, who wanted to make Whitebeard the PK. It’s noticeable that in her last moments she didn’t think about her sister, but Sugar was still part of the crew of the man on whom Monet placed all her hopes and dreams. Come to think of it, it's like the moment Nami couldn't bring herself to say that Luffy wouldn't become the PK even when Ulti was about to bash her head in.
Monet wanted Doflamingo (with whom she may've been in love) to achieve what almost every pirate wants, but she didn’t know that he wasn’t interested in piracy at all.
Tumblr media
もうおれに望みはねェのか......!? // Is there no more hope for me?!
ハッキリ物をいわせるな ...ベラミー おれとおまえは目的が違うんだ 昔からな...!! おまえはずっと"海賊"になりたがってた ーだがおれは違う ......なんでもよかった この[世界]さえブチ壊せればな!!! // ...Heh heh heh!!! Don’t make me put it straight, Bellamy... You and I have different goals. It was so from the very beginning!!! You’ve always wanted to become “a pirate”. ...But not I. Anything is fine, as long I can fucking annihilate this world!!!
But that's a whole nother story.

hi... 🙋‍♀️ id like to know more about your mr c dies au but im unsure where to start since ive seen you mention it from time to time...
i wanna know how emiri would behave and feel in a situation like that... theres already a contrast in what emiri says and does and what michiru says and does and how they both tie into asunaro SO do you have any kai and emiri interactions in mind?
theyre both really interesting in general and its a shame they only have the frying pan interaction in the game... for now (smiles darkly)
looks at you so sweetly... here's how emiri & kai both being begrudgingly trapped in a timeloop can still win-- but that. is an entirely separate & less fleshed out au. still very fun to me though <3
in any case! :D
because of the amount of characters i'm balancing, emiri's only accepted into asunaro's inner circle only a few months after mr. chidouin has already died (she was previously quite restricted) & the conflicts have (mostly) settled down, -- however, because of his role as the leader of asunaro, there's still reference to the absence he's left; even if it's only implied through the characters surrounding her. it really formed a bit more resentment + feeling of inferiority with the thought that she was only brought in to speed up work on the death game, even if she's been intended to join for a while now...
but i digress. even after being accepted, emiri and kai are separated because of kai's position as the aide/sage of asunaro's godfather. thus, he has the privilege to the same sort of privacy that the heirs of the original hades incident were granted... but when the initial assignment he was given (surveying the chidouins) is expanded into some of the other candidates, that is when he must interact more often with the asu-agents we know, who are focused on the technological development of the death game.
i focus more on emiri w the others (mainly michiru), but... some of the key scenes i have in mind for kai & emiri specifically. smiles.
even though it takes a little working, i do find it fun specifically having emiri confront kai on the hopelessness of all he's trying to do. he finds the malicious manner in which she kills people to be in poor taste, but it's clear to her he's had to (or would) kill to keep the chidouins safe. and, sure, she'll give it to him that it's a nice gesture. but when does the bloodshed end? he knows asunaro's going to crop up again somewhere, sometime, and as long as it has its hands on the people he cares about, they're going to be held hostage. hell - even the ais... they're holding the idea of sara hostage. is there something in their bloodline that just makes them the most arrogant bastards, or is he just stupid?
emiri has... a lot of potential and is well aware of this. it's the only thing she truly does know about herself -- is that she's resilient, and can push herself past any previously imagined breaking points to prove she still has this value if she has no right to anything else in her life.
it's. difficult for her to see gashu, especially, as a reflection of what she could have if she was truly respected within the organization -- and even he's still left to the whims of what the organization needs. it's alive in its own right and devours even those who've helped it survive this long. from mr. chidouin, to those of her similar position who are killed to settle petty conflicts between the patriarchs, even to complete innocents like her partner who endure something crueler for the sake of asunaro's privacy... civilians who don't know why they were played with before they died, or even how asunaro had trapped them.
and yet kai believes he can pressure this destructive force to work for him. but she's learned from experience just how impossible it is to fight the tide. she's surviving, but kai's fighting to live. it's a losing battle, and it's almost frustrating to see him actually make progress through it when he shouldn't. emiri's only salvation is in the destruction of asunaro, but because kai's grown up within it and seen how it overcomes each attack against it, he also has an idea of how to mislead or blind it. it's been a given in his life since the beginning, so he knows how to anticipate it -- a chance she was never given because of the safety she harbored for most of her life. it's such an interestingly strange sort of exchange seeing two people who feel as if they've lost everything, including any standard for morality, now trying to recreate their lives from the ground up.
& of course... whether kai means to or not, he is making it more difficult for not only emiri, but michiru too, to make their way through asunaro without also becoming a target. which is also a source of conflict for how he treats them as compared to civilians that he can still "save" before asunaro gets to them -- which, as a thought that emiri verbally reinforces, ironically means he cannot save sara from it. even after her father's death, kai's moved in and is still putting them in danger through association + the fact that asunaro is so ingrained in who he is. the other agents have seen the worst of it, and emiri cynically believes that this is who kai 'truly' is, but. gah. even if it's untrue, the only one with the heart to counter emiri here would be michiru, because she was there for the point that kai began to change... and is still the only person within asunaro that she can say she trusts, and that he trusts in return.
... in essence: emiri resents kai for overcoming what asunaro is trying to enforce (similarly to gashu in the main game, he's breaking the new rules she's presently trying to adapt to so that she can find her standing), and yet also betraying concern as someone who's already lost her life. even if kai can navigate asunaro well -- he shows that painfully well in how he regards most other agents -- he still doesn't understand the amount of ways that asunaro can invade everyday life. even if he gets rid of the ais, of the patriarchs, of whoever and whatever else that's keeping the death game project running... how will he explain it to sara. emiri's been in that position of having asunaro's actions hidden from her, she's experienced that helplessness first-hand. does he have any idea the sort of resentment and fear he's embedded in the very people he thinks he's saving? does he even understand the guilt that will be left when asunaro finally catches up to him? he's acting like an agent, still paying into this belief that all things are a matter of equivalent exchange, of give and take, with his life being no different. but he can't live like that, and he's stifling everyone around him through surviving like this.
it's one of the first warnings, you know... sara will find out. and who knows if she'll have the heart to forgive someone like you, really. she doesn't even know you anymore, or did she ever? are you too arrogant to look past what you're doing, and ask what she wants before you arrange your grand scheme? don't you see you're no different from him?

Hi Hapo, would you mind play the OC Askbox with Aasa characters? If so I would like 10 for everyone and 15 for Sparta.
[anon is probably referring to this meme on my main blog]
10. Free Space #1: Which of your OCs would be most likely to survive a zombie apocalypse? Which would die immediately?
I'll do a handful of the major characters, I don't know offhand what the more minor characters would do and I'd have to think about that longer, haha.
I mean, [spoilers] given how the great plague of Athens really instilled this sense of hopelessness and "every man for himself" and "dont care about other people because thats how you get infected", Athens would gain a handful of points on being self sufficient (but very quickly succumb anyway and get himself in some avoidable situation)
Sparta would refuse to acknowledge it was happening but wouldn't actually have any defenses against either the zombies or the hordes of people fleeing the situation to come take his resources, and of course he would no doubt have a helot uprising to deal with on top of that so he's already single-handedly fighting a losing battle just to look cool.
Corinth geographically would be in a secure position so long as the epidemic stayed local, and if things got dicey she would probably fuck off to Sicily or something.
Persia is a great shot and so long as he has the high ground or fast wheels he'd cut right through the zombies. His tendency to keep everyone at arms length but still rely on others for support would mostly serve him well (until he went in for a kiss or a hand hold with one of his chosen few elites who are Too Brave to admit they've been infected and omnomnom)
Ionia would be like, so busy trying to find a philosophical answer to who gets infected and why and she would get bit while arguing with some guy in the agora talking about how if we are just more righteous the whole thing will pass. (and maybe it wasn't even a zombie bite, i mean, you know how cynics are).
15. Is your character's first instinct fight or flight? Is there something that could force them to do the opposite?
Sparta's first instinct is "stand there and do nothing and stare" or "don't get involved in the first place", but I guess if say, we set him up on a road trip and he gets ambushed by a wolf or bandits or something, obviously he's going to fight because he does have a rep to uphold, even if he's going to lose.
Unless he sees them from a great enough distance that he chooses a stupid long route or turns around and goes back home, of course.

[CHAPTER 7]
THE LUNCH ENDED IN SILENCE, neither of the three spoke or even hinted at doing so. Percy and Jason both realized they had hit a sore spot. Nico knew they didn't do it intentionally, they were happy to see him happy for once, to know that he had returned to smiling after spending so much time wandering alone.
Occasionally, the son of Hades looked up at the two boys, aware that he had once again gone too far. It was something he couldn't always avoid, losing his temper from time to time seemed to be inherited. "I didn't mean to raise my voice" he apologized before the two got up to go climb the climbing wall. "I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now, I just know I like what I feel. It's nice" he confided, showing a weak smile. The two looked at each other first and then at the boy, appreciating that he had opened up to them. "It's okay, we went overboard too" Jason said, nudging Percy to say something as well. "Yeah, sorry" he said quickly. Nico nodded, relieved that everything was okay between them. "Hey, why don't you come to the wall too? Let's see who wins" Jason suggested to him. "That would be me" added Percy, pointing at himself, convinced that he would be the winner. "Sure" Jason murmured, bursting out laughing the moment later. "But you fell last time we went!" exclaimed Percy, giving rise to the most comical argument between demigods. Nico was embarrassed. "I'll pass" the son of Hades said, interrupting the discussion that had degenerated into who could hold their breath the longest underwater.
The two suddenly stopped, hearing Nico's voice and forgetting why they were arguing. "Why?" asked the son of Poseidon. Nico sighed, already feeling like he would regret it. "I have to go to the infirmary" he tried not to blush, hoping the two wouldn't start building castles in the sand about what he had just said. The two boys gave each other a quick glance, avoiding asking any questions. "Okay" Percy shrugged. "If you change your mind, you know where to find us!" added the son of Jupiter, walking with his friend towards the climbing wall. Nico watched them go, pushing each other and shouting about who was better at reaching the top. They were hopeless, yet Nico was grateful they were friends.
A little later, he reached the infirmary. Finding Will wasn't a difficult task; he found him trying to transfer an amber liquid from one vial to another. The son of Hades cleared his throat, getting the boy's attention as he looked up surprised. They stared at each other for a few moments; Will didn't think he would really come. "You came!" he exclaimed, unable to avoid being surprised. Nico nodded, approaching the work table and nervously tapping his fingers. "What are you doing?" he asked, trying to take an interest in his fieldwork as a field medic. Will smiled, picking up an already sealed vial. "I'm preparing supplies for the winter" he explained. "With the war we emptied the entire cabinet" he added." Nico looked at the work he had done so far. On the table, there were vials of all sizes containing strange-colored liquids, and he wasn't sure he wanted to know what each flask contained. "Do you need a hand?" Nico asked, remembering only then that Will had asked him more than once to stay and help him roll some bandages. It seemed that the boy had also remembered, from the way he smiled. "Yes, you could help me" he invited Nico to sit down, focusing his attention on Nico's face. "Tell me what to do" the boy said, looking around, feeling completely out of place inside. "First, you could apply the labels" he asked, explaining exactly how to recognize one vial from another.
Nico followed word for word, fortunately they had all been placed in order, he wouldn't make a mistake. "Okay" he got to work soon, pulling up each vial, gluing its name on it. A veil of silence fell between the two. Every so often, Will would look up to see how the job he had assigned was going, and Nico would occasionally glance shyly at the son of Apollo, intending to ask him something that had been bothering him for days. Both continued in silence what they were doing, only the external noise from the demigods was in the background. Will had just finished another box of magic medicines, ready to be labeled and stored in the medicine cabinet.
"Can I ask you a question?" Nico asked at last, interrupting the silence that had formed between them. Will looked up, looking at the boy in front of him, bent over to apply the label. "Sure!" Nico clenched his lips, really eager to ask him on the one hand, but remained silent, prisoner of his thoughts. "No, never mind" he muttered. "It's foolish, forget it" he added, retracting what he had just thought. Will tilted his head to one side, it was really complicated to read what was going through his mind, and he considered himself good at it. "Well, I'll be the judge of whether it's foolish or not" he said, crossing his arms on the table. "Come on, what did you want to ask me?" but Nico shook his head, scolding himself for opening his mouth. However, Will didn't want to let it go, even though he had to admit to himself that sometimes it annoyed him to have to take his words with pliers. "If you wanted to ask how I manage to have such fluffy hair, the secret is to use little conditioner, it weighs them down" Will joked, eliciting a faint smile on Nico's face. "That's not it" spoke the son of Hades, masking a laugh. "Ah" said Will, as if he were really sorry he wasn't being asked that thing about his hair. "It's probably the smile" he sighed theatrically. "Everyone asks me, but it's genetic, I can't help it" he shrugged. "Not that I mind!" he added quickly. Nico shook his head, smiling too. "Neither do I" he said, faintly laughing. "Oh" said Will. "Then what is it?" he asked, thinking he could get him to talk. Nico remained silent again, sighing a couple of times and repeating to himself that there was nothing wrong with asking him. "Just don't laugh" he lifted his gaze from the vial to look at Will's face. "I promise" Will swore, raising his right hand. Nico rolled his eyes, sighing a third time. "I was wondering if we were friends" he lowered his gaze reflexively, unable to withstand the confused look Will was giving him. The son of Apollo was perplexed by that question, the answer seemed obvious to him, yet he realized that it might not be so for Nico. "Of course we are" he replied, spreading one of his beautiful and bright smiles on his face, also involving Nico who just gave a faint smile in response.

I started this like a whole week ago, it has literally nothing to do with cannon anymore, but i actually liked some parts of it so here we go.
Would you kill to save a life? Would you kill for your child?
They would. They know they would, the answer has lived deep inside them from the very beginning there is no point into trying to foul themselves or others, they answer with no hesitation.
But that doesn't mean they are ready to deal with the aftermath. No one truly is.
Maybe it all started with a kill. Maybe when resources got stolen. Maybe when a farm was burned down. Maybe it was when a mission was taken in the last possible moment. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Maybe it was rage. Maybe it was bloodlust. Maybe it was self defense. Maybe they never had a choice. Maybe it was all manipulated by a being they don't understand. Maybe it has been fated from the start.
Maybe...
Maybe...
Maybe...
Maybe...
Maybe no one remembers why it started.
Maybe they just want to desperately convince themselves they are not the ones to blame.
It doesn't matter.
It started.
(We will not play this game, Team Red's leader had said when the bloodbath began.
This is not our fight, he affirmed when they came again, we did our part. We will not thrown ourselves into the fire for the sake of people who wouldn't do the same.
And then they are gone. Hidden, deep inside their own territory, passing ghosts with unreadable expressions beneath the gas masks, refusing to engage on the rare occasion their paths cross, killing without saying a word when others tried to approach.
The Watcher lets them. This is not their fight, at least for now.)
There is no mercy. There is no peace. There is no rest. There is only despair. There is only the need to do what's necessary for the sake of their child, there is only a treat hanging over their heads, the fear of the unknow making beasts out of men.
Only one team will survive. Only one team will be able to continue fighting.
Roier shakes. He shakes and shakes and he hates it from the bottom of his soul, he hates the fighting, he hates the feeling of bathing himself into the blood of people he once called friends.
But Roier is all that Leonarda has.
A father missing, gone for so very long. The other lost to his own pain and hopelessness.
His little sister. His family. Someone has to fight for Leo and if that has to be him, then so be it, Roier will kill however stands in his way.
He will not fail another child.
It's late at night that it all comes back to Pac, when darkness falls over everything and they have to hide from the monsters.
But he knows his monster is not stopped by the darkness.
His leg burns with phantom pain in a way it has not done since the early days when the wound was fresh. He stumbles and falls more than he ever did, like he is learning how to walk all over again, he is hyper aware of every sound, has memorized the footsteps of his teams so that he knows when an enemy is approaching.
He tries to console himself, to remember Red Team will not interfere in this battle, but what good does it do? He is still there, waiting for the moment to strike. If Pac wins this, if Soulfire comes on top, it just means he will be prey once more.
It makes him sick of himself when a part of his mind whispers that losing may not be that bad. That whatever happens to them after that, cannot be possibly worse than whatever the monster using the face of a friend will do to them afterwards.
Pac shakes and shakes, hugs himself because he is alone. Fit is gone, fighting for his own team, Mike has been gone for so very long, still recovering from his kidnapping, Forever is haunted by demons he cannot understand, Bagi and Tubbo have too much on their shoulders already.
And the other people he could trust? The one who gave him a hug, who just a few weeks before Pac called family? That person is the monster he sees in the shadows.
Tubbo clings to hope so hard his hands bleed, knowing so very well that without it he has nothing. This will end in a few days, he whispers to himself like a prayer, just a few days and it will all end.
He doesn't think about the fact that Philza looks at him with empty eyes, the way he refuses to talk to him no matter how much Tubbo pleads, how he shows up without weapons and armor. He doesn't think about how Fit looks at him like he doesn't know who he is, how he has felt the cold of his sword far too many times to count. He doesn't think about how Pac is a ghost of himself, empty eyes and detached words like his mind is stuck somewhere else, how he looks at Tubbo and still doesn't see him.
He can't.
Because if he thinks about that then he will have to think about the fact that there is a possibility that things will not be alright, that his little fond family is gone, that they are too broken to be glued back together.
This will end in a few days, he repeats over and over again, a prayer and a plea into one.
No it wouldn't, Tina had finally bite out one day, shaking while red coated her face and hands. She couldn't even know whose blood it was, her's or a friend's.
Not it wouldn't, she realizes falling to her knees in sobs. It wouldn't end, it will never end, this is hell all over again.
Tina has tried so hard to not be a demon. To not be a monster. She cannot allow all her progress to be gone in the blink of an eye, she cannot allow herself to be the one thing she tried so hard not to.
Bagi is waiting for her when the night falls and Tina gathers the courage to leave.
I care about you, Bagi had whispered as she carefully put things into a backpack unable to look into anyone's eyes, I care about you and that is why I have to leave.
I cannot watch it happen anymore, she whispers to herself, I cannot watch as you destroy yourselves trying to destroy them. I cannot love what I didn't even have the chance to own in the first place.
They leave, shaking hand in shaking hand. They have no destination, no plan but to get as far away as they can, far enough that they cannot see the bodies of those they care about.
They have lost so much already. They can't let this twisted game make them lose one another too.
And at the end of it all a team stands, victorious in the eyes of the game master, hollowed inside, covered in blood that cannot be washed out, the burned ashes of their bonds scattered in the air.
"Where are our children", they ask, they beg. "Where are our children, this was all for them."
It was all for them.
There has to be meaning to all of this.
There has to be a reward at the end of the road.
There has to be a meaning to the bloodshed.
They ask, they plead, bone deep tired, struggling to hold into fragile sanity.
And The Watcher laughs.
And laughs.
And laughs.
And when he speaks they can hear the smile in his voice, the delight he is taking from their pain.
Congratulations, he says, I would clap for you if I thought you deserved it.
Congratulations, he mocks, you are the winners of the first game.
As your reward, he continues before they can react laughing once more, you will be gifted the opportunity to take two of the children home.
You will now enter the second game, the game of the winners, he explains like it's an honor, like a praise.
The rules are simple, the last one standing makes the choice, he says gleefully.
Good luck, he says as a goodbye laughter echoing.
Would you kill a friend to save your child's life?
They would.
Oh heavens they would.
But there are no winners in this game.
There is only a person standing in a pool of blood hugging their child as wails of despair cut the air like a knife, burying themselves on their mind.
There is only pain and betrayal and destroyed bonds and dead children.
There are no winners in this game.

THOSE WHO WILL NOT CRY
     VENTI
Although his wings that have soared through the vast open azure skies was as ancient as the winds that swept ever so delicately through the lands that made up Teyvat, although his curious viridescent hues have become quiet witnesses to numbers of renowned and untold tales of mortals across nations, no matter the countless years he devoted trying to cognize the mortals and their atypical behaviors, Barbatos – or Venti, as he refers to himself now – can never truly understand how so many human beings can stay in one place with one person.
Before he had even come to be the Anemo Archon, all that Venti knew was how to heed the call of the wind. To him, it was confounding how mortals do not have the similar urgency as he to follow the winds. Even when he had taken the form of his dearest friend, Himmel, and has elapsed through myriad of seasons and centuries, still he soared gently in the air, lyre in his possession as he sung melodies of his own composition and strummed symphonies for those who yearn to hear his voice, and with his braids billowing in his travel to a destination even he cannot tell yet.
One has made an attempt - and unfortunately, a fruitless one - to make sense to him why some has gone against the heed of the wind, a very peculiar decision in the eyes of someone like him. His form nothing but a mere wisp at that time, nothing but a small creature with little understanding, and he remembered he was seated on the shoulder of his companion as they perched by the edge of a mountain, legs dangling and kicking gently back and forth. They basked in the caress of the wilting warmth as the sun bid its farewell.
Himmel was humming a tune with the corners of his mouth curving up and his eyes closed, and Venti's small frame thrummed with delight at the euphony he made.
And in the serene quiet, his dear friend spoke, "Someday, you'll find yourself wanting to stay somewhere. For something, or for someone. You don't understand now, but when you come to love one thing, you'll always want to be close to their side." Himmel turned to him, a subdued smile etched across his features, and upon catching sight of the sincerity and fervor Himmel in his bright eyes, Venti cannot help but mirror his sentiments and reciprocate his smile the best he can with the body he manifested in.
"When that day comes, you'll understand why many choose to . . . stay." Venti tilted his head to the side, and Himmel let out a small chuckle once he catches on the puzzlement that he displayed in his actions. "Don't look at me like that. I know you're curious about the whole marriage thing. Who knows, maybe someday you'll find yourself a nice fellow wisp and - "
All it took for Himmel to cut his statement short and burst out in laughter was how Venti prodded against his neck as a feeble attempt to make him quiet down.
And as Himmel has predicted, Venti - in time - did understood.
Venti was able to perceive the reasonings of mortals to turn their heads away from the beckon of the wind, to live a peaceful and quaint life, some alone, and some with their spouses. Himmel had done his absolute best to explain to him the wanders which are humans, and gleefully watched as Venti attentively listened to every word he spoke.
However, at the end of the day, Venti was still a free spirit. He can never be tied down to one place, much more to another living being. He will always find himself favoring the whisper of the winds in Teyvat, adrift and letting himself go adrift.
It was after he had witnessed the life in Himmel's eyes leave, heard his last breath, the whisper of the triumph of Mondstadt in achieving freedom, and his final request as he stroked Venti's quivering figure - A sad smile has been painted upon Himmel's brims as he gazed at the smaller entity weeping under his touch, "I ask only for one last favor from you, my dearest friend. Look after Mondstadt, after our people, for me, and never let everything we've sacrificed go for naught."
Venti was still a free spirit, but with what happened to Himmel, he longed to understand how he saw the world. It seemed he understood it differently than he did. And thus, he took the form of his beloved friend, and ventured closer than he had before to mortals.
The day he found a place in The Seven, the fateful he became the Anemo Archon, Venti has not once missed an event with his people. He celebrated with them in festivities, cried with them in their sorrows, aided them in battles against transgressors or wars within their own mind. He laughed with them, ate with them, drank with them, and his love for his people grew everyday.
But still, he can never stay for too long.
Venti tried to, he really did, for his friends, as his last gift before he lets go of the pain of losing him. But cannot force himself to remain in one place if his heart kept searching for places to explore, people to meet, discover the secrets of Teyvat.
Hopelessness was beginning to gnaw inside him as hundred of years has passed, and he has already traveled through long distances and saw generation after generation of his people in Mondstadt, and yet nothing he has yet to fulfill his own promise to hos friend.
Perhaps this was the way it was supposed to be. Maybe only mortals are giving the ability to be content and stay, but the Anemo Archon was forever to be appearing and disappearing - always, always stringing along with the wind.
And Venti believed that thought of his, and it stuck to him throughout many more years in Teyvat.
Not even a dust of faith was left in the ruins of what he now thought of as a vanquished promise, marring Venti with a wound in his heart, and a doubt in his standing as an Archon. However, it was through this belief that took him by surprise when he met a rather strange woman at the last day of the Windblume Festival, and in Stormterror’s Lair, no less.
The Honorary Knight, and their odd traveling companion have long been gone after they bid him farewell and a safe travel in his return to his abode – or whatever dwelling was the closest he could denote as home – leaving Venti by himself to reminisce in the ruins of where Old Mondstadt once stood.
The heavens were a color of black dotted with stars and the moon. The wind has grown softer, as though to accompany him in this lonesome hour, leaving chaste kisses against his pallid skin. From afar, the City of Mondstadt remains lit with lanterns and plethora of flowers. Even in this distance, he can oversee the joy that exuded from the people as they celebrated the remaining hours of the festival and take in the fragrance of the flowers friends and partners exchanged with one another. It was a beautiful sight to behold if one sits in such a desolate and dark place, in the very tower that he had confronted Stormterror – no, it was Dvalin now, Stormterror has perished along with the danger of the past.
But a presence – curious, sorrowful – has intervened in the quiet evening Venti thought he had saved for himself. He stood up from the platform where he has previously perched upon and took off to take a gander in the Lair, and it did not take a moment longer for him to spot a figure nearby. There, standing on top of a boulder clad in a crestfallen expression was a lone woman. She was casting her gaze around Old Mondstadt, and the breeze blew her tears away,
Venti had never seen her before. He had met every family, every person, in Old Mondstadt, and the same was to be said to the generation that followed after them. He knew them well, recalled their quirks and appearances, and this woman has no resemblance to any of them. Has she come from another nation?
Venti made it his point to glide down and noiselessly land behind her, but it seems his efforts have failed him for this stranger spoke the second his feet made contact with the ground.
"I wonder how this place used to be." You stated, and Venti was unsure whether you have felt his presence or you were speaking to yourself.
“So, this is Old Mondstadt.” She stated in a murmur. Her voice was laced with awe, but with evidence of forlornity. “I heard rumors about what happened here, and-and the thing with Stormterror too. Archon, I wish someone would tell me the real story of the City of Freedom. Back in my home, we’re not even allowed to learn much about the Archons of other nations. It’d be foolish to just trust rumors.”
There was something about her that piqued his interest. He did not know what it was. Maybe it was the way she talked about Mondstadt, her interest in the history of his city and his people, the sincere sorrow she felt for what the fallen tyrant of Mondstadt had had done to his former subjects, and how he had forced their hands to rebellion to protect their nation.
Venti spoke before he can stop to think. “If you’d like, I can retell the story of how Old Mondstadt came to be. I’m well versed in the history of this city, so rest assured everything you’ll hear is the truth.” He carved a smile to his lips. “And I am a Bard, so you have no need to worry about me chatting your ear off. All it takes is an audience and my lyre to get me started. Of course, a private performance will cost you, but since you’re new in the city, I suppose I can – ”
His breath was taken away when the stranger turned to face him, and his words withered from his tongue. Ever seen a speechless bard? It was a sight people will scarcely see.
Could he ever compose a song to even come close to the lovely view that was before his eyes? Gleaming curious pair of eyes, a smile so eager to listen, hair flitting with the wind as his heartbeat raced –
Venti was used to captivating his audience with his songs and stories. However, this time, it was he who was captivated, and when he took out his lyre and played a sweet tune to sing the story of his beloved city, with this gorgeous woman listening to him with bright and shining eyes, Venti knew then that he wanted to play for her every song he knew, every story he saw and heard, to the end of time.
You told him your name after his song, and you came all the way from the isolated nation of Inazuma. It took him by surprise how you have confidence in him to reveal to him your identity and place of birth. Surely, not everyone will trust a stranger who has appeared out of nowhere who offered to sing them a song. But then again, Venti trusted you as quickly as you trusted him, and now it was his turn to listen as you confide in him.
You have escaped from your home nation and survived out in the seas under the heat of the sun and threat of starvation for days until a compassionate Captain from Liyue, and her crew found you and delivered you to safety. And it was after your recovery that you fled to Mondstadt, the opposite of the nation you were born in.
Venti found himself sitting down in front of you as you told him your story, sight never leaving your frame as he did so. You were no Bard, and you were no storyteller, but he cannot tell the time or noticed the sun has set as you regaled him with story of Inazuma and your life after and before your escape. He was enchanted with the way you spoke, how you looked about Old Mondstadt with saddened awe, the fervidness in your voice – Have I found myself a rival? Thought Venti, eyes softening as you went on about your admiration for the affability and generosity his people have shown you.
When you left that day, you promised to come back and when you do, you shall ask him to sing to you more of his songs. At first, Venti was hesitant to believe your promise, but to his relief and happiness, when he saw you in the same place in the ruins undoubtedly waiting for him with your eyes closed and relishing in the wind that rushed past you. Venti always came to Stormterror’s Lair to oversee what remained of his old home, but for once, his sights were held torn and you have all his attention.
Seeing you keep your promise of return made his day, but when you whipped your head to face him with a smile, waving a hand as you asked him to sit with you, Venti knew that his heart desired yours. Was it a wise decision to fall for someone you've only just met? Certainly not, but he was an Archon who had too much time but too little for those who he holds dear. He cannot afford to be unsure when his time with you was limited.
So, he decided – when the day is right and the wind is quiet, he shall make his feelings for you known.
It became a routine for the two of you to meet in Stormterror’s Lair and share your stories with one another, Venti always telling his in songs, as a Bard would. There was never a dull moment between the two of you, and every story told in the ruins were to be fascinated of. And soon, it wasn't just stories. Soon, he was finding out more about you, knowing you better until he couldn't get you out of his head.
It became a routine for the two of you to meet in Stormterror’s Lair and share your stories with one another. Venti always told his in the form of songs, as a Bard would, you will always applaud him after, to which he would respond with a melodramatic bow. There was never a dull moment between the two of you, and every story spoke in the ruins and the silence of the night was to be fascinated of.  He was learning more about you, knowing you better, until he couldn’t get you out of his mind when his head falls against his pillow.
Venti cherished these times he had with you. He knew it won't be long until you were gone. He knew his fate as an Archon – seeing loved ones perish and more to come, and the cycle continued.
He hasn't even told you about his identity.
Venti was grateful for the Traveler for pushing him to tell you about his feelings and his standing in Teyvat, but he was still uncertain. What would you say if he confessed to you? What will you say if he admits to being the Anemo Archon? Will things change between the two of you? Will you leave? Venti can’t think about that.
Venti grew worried when you didn’t come to Stormterror’s Lair one day, and then another, and his concern grew as days turned to weeks. Everyday he found himself visiting Stormterror’s Lair in hopes of seeing you waiting for him again, but he was always left disappointed. You did not mention going on an adventure or a commission, so his worry was warranted. Were you safe or were you simply sick of him?
When the day you finally appeared in the Lair, relief washed over Venti and he practically jumped off the broken tower he frequently resided and made haste towards you. But his footsteps faltered when he found no traces of a smile on your face. He can see the relief and joy, but the smile was absent. From that, Venti’s own beam wilted as he walked over to you with reluctant steps.
When he came close to you, he opened his mouth to ask how you have faired for the past weeks and question your abrupt disappearance when you said something that took him by surprise.
                                    “I know who you are.”
It felt like his entire world has stopped for a moment as he stared at you with disbelief smearing his countenance. How ever did you discover the truth? Certainly, he had similarities with his statues, but none of his people nor visitors from outside ever pieced the puzzle together.
He averted his gaze, ashamed. Why was he wallowing in shame? Or perhaps was this regret of not telling you sooner? Did you feel betrayed? Will you cast him away?
                      “But how . . . ”
“The man at the Tavern told me, Master Diluc.” You answered. “I was telling him about you, and I guess he thought I already knew of you being the . . . Anemo Archon.”
“Is that why you were gone for weeks?” Venti questioned, and when you nodded in response, he winced. He can’t help but think of the worse – She’ll leave me.
Venti looked away. “Ah, I shouldn’t be surprised. I mean, it is hard to believe someone like me is an Archon.” He laughed out, but the humor was nonexistent in his statement. “So, how do you feel about that?”
Venti let out a gasp when you threw yourself to him and enveloped him in a tight hug. Venti froze at your actions and waited for you to withdraw, but when you did not, he slowly accepted your embrace with gratefulness. He didn’t know what you do this, but he was more than happy to reciprocate your actions before he lets you go.
It won’t matter, anyway. He’ll hear the winds calling for him somewhere soon. Maybe letting you go now would hurt less in the long run.
“Are you not . . . angry?” Venti asked as he closed his eyes and rested his chin on your shoulder.
“Oh Archons, no, Venti. I could never hate you.” You assured him in a whisper and from the brokenness on your voice, Venti knew you were crying. “Those times you told me about Barbatos . . . all the stories about his past . . . everything he had gone through . . . ” You murmured, tone lowering. “ . . . you must have been so hurt and lonely.”
He didn’t know why your words shot through him. He can feel tears streaming down his cheeks as memories of his past and the continuous pain of loss and regret caught up with him. Finally, after thousands of years, his false smile was shattered.
How pathetic. He thought. An Archon weeping in front of a mortal that he is in love with. Could things get any worse?
Your hand stroked his hair, comforting him as he cried against your shoulder and in your arms.
                          “I was . . . ” He breathed out, choking as he tightened his grip around you. “ . . . it never stops hurting . . . I keep seeing Himmel, and everyone, and – ”
He couldn’t finish what he was saying and just relished in the comfort of your arms, breathing in your scent.
“I don’t understand what you’ve been going through these thousands of years, and I never will, but it’s okay now, Venti.” You whispered in his ear, and he can detect the compassion and love lacing your voice. His heart hammered against his chest. “You have me. You don’t have to pretend everything is okay. I’m here for you. I want you to be Venti and Barbatos with me, I want all of you.”
He couldn’t believe his ears. Did he hear you correctly? You want him?
Venti gently retracted himself from you, but his arms remained at your sides. “You still want me, even after I kept this from you?”
“I want you, Venti.” You clasped your hands over his shoulders, firmly looking into his eyes. “I’m not going anywhere anymore. I’m staying here, with you.”
And so, you stayed, and so did he – it was the first time he stayed, and he will never regret it.
One would think that as a renowned Bard in Mondstadt, Venti would push for a grand wedding where all people of Mondstadt are invited to wine and dine together as bards banded together to regale everyone with their music, and as the Archon who values freedom above everything else, a big part of him wanted to. But he thought of you and what you wanted. It took some time for him to deliberate over how selfish it would be for him to make you uncomfortable in your wedding day and agree a small wedding would be a much better option considering how sacred and intimate marriage is.
However, knowing you cannot simply have the Anemo Archon go against his belief, and of course because of your love for him, you have secretly devised a plan with Jean and Kaeya to invite all the citizens of Mondstadt to your reception to celebrate this joyous occasion for the two of you. There was more than enough food and drinks to feast, courtesy of Master Diluc, and you’re sure Venti will be over the moon with this surprise.
Venti had no family, and those he did consider as family were long gone, just a memory from the past. Even though it is unusual for a groom not to have a best man in his wedding day, Venti claimed he was fine without a best man. He had no doubts in marrying you. When he proposed to you, there was no touch of regret or doubt. Albeit reluctantly, you were in a mutual agreement in that matter, as well. Until, of course, an unexpected tribute arrived offering his services.
Venti was not the least nervous when the day of your wedding came. He did not waste time when he woke up and immediately got to work on his appearance. Jean was kind enough to have his wedding suit tailored for him, an early wedding gift, as she says.
Venti knew of the rule that a groom mustn’t see his bride in her wedding gown until the time she walks on the aisle. But he was just so thrilled for this day that he forgot all about it. And even if he did remember it, who in the world would stop him from seeing you? He has no best man to stop him anyway -
Venti almost choked to death when a hand came to grasp him by his the back of his collar, and he blubbered pathetically as he was thrown off balance and was dragged back to the altar.
“Who are - Master Diluc? What are you doing?”
Diluc let out a huff as he continued dragging Venti away from your house. “Stopping you from upsetting your bride. I’m sure you know that you shouldn’t see your bride in her gown before the wedding?”
“But Master Diluc, as much as I appreciate what you’re doing, you’re not in any position to - ”
“Actually, I am in a position where I’m allowed to stop you from making a mess of your wedding.” Said Diluc. “I’m your best man, after all.”
Venti couldn’t put to words how touched he was, and more so when you revealed to him after the wedding that Diluc has offered to be his best man by his own volition. As thanks, the next time Venti visited the tavern to drink, he paid for a single bottle of wine once. It wasn’t exactly ideal but considering how he had no original plan to pay Diluc for any of the drinks he will consume, this was as good as it gets.
When the doors opened to reveal you in your pretty white wedding dress, Venti swooned, and a large joyous smile stretched across his lips.
A gentle breeze swept in the altar and Venti felt his feet leave the ground briefly, floating in the air as he excitedly watched you walk down the aisle, and it took Diluc’s hand pulling him down by the back of his suit to stop him from floating up above the cathedral.
“My, my, if I knew any better, I would have thought the Archons have taken favor on me and blessed me with a beautiful bride.” Venti said once you join him in the altar and took your hands in his own. “You look beautiful, darling. I might just write another song about you.”
You shook your head, pink tinting your cheeks. “Haven’t you written enough songs about me?”
Venti inched his face close to you, his large smile altering to a soft smile. “There aren’t enough songs to tell you how much I adore you.”
The wedding went on, and when the two of you kissed, only one thing entered in Venti’s mind - I found my reason to stay, Himmel. I just hope you can see this.
The wind blew gently.
     KAEYA
Kaeya did not know what to feel when his brother has made it clear once and for all that he wanted nothing to do with him. His dismissive remarks, his heated glares, his cold and aloof treatment – he had known Diluc for so long, and his memories with him in their childhood never grew old in his mind, so it pained him to have his once bright-eyed sibling who aspired to be part of the Knight acting as though they were strangers. No, strangers would have been merciful. He acted as if the bond they had never meant anything to him, and casting him aside and seeing him under the light of contempt was the easiest decision he has ever made.
Even you were not spared from the same fate. The three of you become inseparable the day you and Kaeya were introduced to each other. You’ve done everything together, and it would be a strange sight to see one missing from the group.
When Diluc has cut ties with Kaeya, you suffered the same fate as he. You poor, poor thing – you tried your best to patch the friendship he no longer wanted to be part of, and Kaeya did not waste time running to your side and picking up the pieces Diluc shattered. It was not an easy feat for both of you to lose Diluc – he lost a brother, and you lost a good friend.
But it was because of your fall out with him that you and he become closer than ever, closer than before, if that could even be possible. The two of you support one another and you go to each other when things get difficult.
Kaeya will never admit it, and he would rather die than do, but he has loved you for many years. The moment Diluc pulled him into an unknown house, claiming that he wanted to meet someone important to him, and his eyes landed on your form with the sunrays kissing your skin, a wide smile stretching across your face, and a fake sword in your hand, his heart was taken.
You were one of the reasons he wanted to become a Knight. Diluc admitted his want to become a Knight, and you expressed the same sentiment, and of course, hearing his friend and brother say so, he became inclined of joining the Knights. I’ll get good training. He thought back then as stared at you, blushing as you braided Diluc’s hair. Then, I’ll be able to protect ( Your Name ).
Now that Diluc no longer wanted to be in contact with you than more than is necessary, Kaeya grew to be more protective over you. He knew you can handle yourself as you were a Knight yourself and wields a Vision, too, but his heart clenches at the thought of you getting hurt when he could have easily had your back, like he always did.
Kaeya didn’t knowif you had feelings for him, or for anyone, for that matter. Many times he thought of confessing to you just to rip the band aid off, but he couldn’t. He’ll keep his feelings to himself and continue being the Cavalry Captain that everyone adored, and your own personal protector.
But it was getting harder and harder to hide his feeling. Everyday he was always under the threat of falling deeper in love with you. Everyday, you always give him more reasons to love you. Waiting for him to come home after taking too long in his work, taking care of him after a nasty battle or when he’s drunk, always checking up on him even if your schedule was hectic, offering him help if you deem the responsibility given to him is too much. How much longer can he pretend that he wasn’t thinking of you everyday and every night?
He was pulled back from his train of thoughts when he felt a soft material doused in alcohol perch on the wound blemishing his skin. “Ah, be gentle, ( Your Name ),” Whined Kaeya, stilling himself to refrain from moving and delaying your nurse on his cuts.
“We wouldn’t be in this situation if you had only been careful fighting those Abyss Mages.” You reprimanded with a stern glare. “Think of this as your punishment from me. Now, hold still.”
“I was fighting Abyss Mages and came back with small wounds. How am I not careful?”
“You can be more careful.” Quipped you, and finding your chance, you pressed the cotton again his skin, causing the Cavalry Captain to hiss in pain.
“Ow, ow, ow – I said be gentle!”
“Oh, you can fight Abyss Mages but can’t handle getting your wounds treated? What a baby.”
Kaeya pouted while you pulled away from him. “My dearest ( Your Name ) doesn’t love me anymore.” He cooed. “Tell me, what can I do to make it up to you, hmm?”
You shook your head and placed your hand over his head, beaming. His heart leaped in his chest. “Stop being reckless.” You responded. “You’re the most important person to me, Kaeya. I don’t want to lose you too.”
Days and days he spent thinking of what you said. He never truly knew how he important he was to you. The thought of that had him sleeping and dreaming of you and your smiles, how the days will be if you loved him the same way he loved you, and the fateful day you owned his heart.
He had to thank Diluc for introducing him to you. He couldn’t imagine being in a world where he has no one to lean on when he lost the only family he had. You became his rock, someone he could lean on and trust. His friend who he loved more than he should have, the woman he wished to see in his arms someday.
But it will never be. He has to protect you. He is always in danger and he doesn’t want to hurt you more if he died and you two are in a relationship. And he had seen firsthand how affected you were when Diluc no longer wanted to be friends with you. He won’t let you go through the same pain if your relationship didn’t work. He loved you too much to let you suffer again.
Kaeya didn’t think he would be able to thank Diluc again after their fall out but he was mistaken.
He didn’t know the full story of what had happened the night he got shitfaced drunk in the tavern but woke up the next day to learn he has revealed his feelings for you in front of his brother, and the latter had casually mentioned it to you when you dropped by the tavern to escort him back home.
Regret and frustration welled up inside of him and he spent ten minutes walking back in you guest room, trying to explain himself and perhaps even jest about having feels for you but his preparation was all futile when you opened the door just as he was about to.
Before he can speak, you beat him to it.
“The next time you get drunk like that, you’re sleeping on the couch.” You chastised, shaking your head and proceeding to turn your back to him to return downstairs. “Freshen up, and head down. I already cooked you breakfast, so hurry up before it gets cold.”
Kaeya stared blankly at the spot you previously stood before smiling. He rushed over to the staircase and looked down to watch you descend the steps. “I won’t keep you long, love.”
His smile broadened when he saw redness rush to your cheeks.
Kaeya proposed to you in a way you expected him to propose to you. A fancy dinner at a fancy restaurant where he ordered a fancy bottle of wine and placed the fancy ring he bought into your glass. It was only because you knew him well that you have no accidentally imbibed the accessory.
Upon receiving your answer to his proposal, the first thing Kaeya did the day after is hunt down for a best man. As a popular and charming Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius, he thought it would be an easy task finding himself a best man but that notion gradually wilted as the date for your wedding approaches, he has yet to find someone to take the position.
In his pursuit for a best man, Kaeya came to realize something. His relationships with others aren’t exactly intimate. They drink and laugh together, but none of them really knew him. Kaeya couldn’t go to them with his personal problems or have their shoulders ready for him to cry on. They were good friends, but not people he would let inside his heart and vulnerability.
There were only two people who knew him behind the title of Cavalry Captain - you, and of course, his estranged brother, Diluc.
The very thought of Diluc sent a shiver down his spine. Diluc hated him and ( Your Name ). He pushed them away, treated them horridly, like they had been nothing to him but strangers with bad memories. Why would he want him to be his best man?
He remembered one day in Angel’s Share, he asked Venti if he could stand as his best man in the wedding and he swore he heard a glass dropping from behind the counter but when he turned, he saw Diluc wiping a wine glass with a blank expression. When Kaeya faced Venti once again, the excitement of being asked of such honorable position has withered and the Bard kindly declined before telling him to ask Diluc to be his best man. He did not.
Who cares about best man? The only thing important to me right now is marrying ( Your Name ).
But when the day of his wedding dawned, Kaeya was in a panic. Behind his charm was a man with a dark past, dark memories, and dark thoughts. He began doubting his ability to give you the life you deserve, began feeling insecurities he thought he had set aside.
He tried his best to remain calm, and for the most part, it worked. Everyone did not find something amiss when Kaeya was interacting with them before the wedding, but someone did, and that someone took him by his arm and dragged him a far and secluded corner after excusing him from who he was conversing with.
“Stop fidgeting with your tie, it’s beginning to bother me.”
Kaeya let out a huff. “Master Diluc, what a . . . surprise that you’re here.”
“You sent me an invitation.” The red head retaliated.
Kaeya had indeed sent him an invitation but he had no recollection of this or whatsoever. He was too wasted to remember.
“The Cavalry Captain losing his cool. Now this is a wedding just waiting to be ruined.”
It was almost like magic how the anxiety that has been eating him up vanished at his brother’s taunt. Kaeya glared at Diluc, opening his mouth to retaliate but before he can even let a single word move past his lips, Diluc turned his back to him and returned to the cathedral, leaving Kaeya in disbelief.
He let out a huff as he stared at his brother’s retreating form. “Bastard still knows me best.”
Kaeya has taken the reins over his emotions again, and he was sure he can keep his composure when you enter through the doors. But he was thoroughly mistaken as he swallowed the lump in his throat when his sight landed on you.
It felt like a dream. How can someone like you love him? In all his flaws, mistakes, and faults, how did you see him as someone you can lean on? Someone you want to spend the rest of your life with?
Surely, he must be dreaming. He’ll wake up in his bed any moment now and realize that everything had been the foolishness of his mind -
Except you continued making your way down aisle, and then you were in front of him with a veil covering your flushed face, and then he was slipping his hands in yours. This was real. You love him.
You leaned forward to him, nose brushing against his. “You look very dashing today, Kaeya.”
Kaeya chuckled. “And you look splendid today, Mrs. Alberich - oh, don’t go shy on me now.”
His smile broadened at the sight of your reddening cheeks. If it wasn’t for the priest speaking right now, he would have flipped over your veil and kiss you.
But there is plenty of time to do that. Kaeya will make sure of that.
     XINGQIU
The youngest of the Guhua Clan will rarely be seen without a novel in hand. Everyday, Xingqiu will be seen with his friends with a book near him, always different from yesterday. He had read many novels and heard stories from storytellers, but one story he will never get tired of was his story with you.
Although it may not seem like it, Xingqiu was a hopeless romantic, and he has always imagined seeking a woman to make his bride. However, it will always be something he can only imagine. As a heir of the Guhua Clan, he has responsibilities to keep and adhere, and he has willingly accepted this. Being given the freedom to choose his bride is something he cannot afford. When his father has informed him about offering him to a daughter of another prestigious clan, he has voiced his discontentment and disinclination to the arrangement but has nonetheless followed.
What a horror it would have been if he had followed through with the tiny voice inside his head saying to run away because if he did, he would have missed the chance of laying eyes on you and experiencing what many romance novels he read called – a heart skipping a beat.
It was a tiring charade of formalities and display of pristine etiquette. All Xingqiu wanted was to retreat to a secluded area and continue immersing himself in the book he has picked up from the local library. With how often he reads, the novels in his own house he has already read, twice.
And so, he did. He kindly excused himself from the dinner between the families, making up a lie about feeling unwell and needing rest, and hurried over in the fields near his place. It is not exactly rude for him to skip dinner. It is not exactly ideal for his bride-to-be to be late in an important occasion like this so why shouldn’t he exhibit the same treatment as they did to him?
When he came to the spot be frequented, he caught sight of an unfamiliar figure from afar. A girl around his age sat on the bench under the tree, in the same spot he always occupied. She wore clothes similar to the families of the clan his family are negotiating with, so it didn’t take long for Xingqiu to learn this girl was related to them. He just didn’t know what her standing was with them.
She was beautiful, he will admit, but it was the book in her hand that caught his attention. Thus, he approached her, adorning a friendly mask as to not scare her away. It is rather uncomfortable meeting strangers in the dark of the night and somewhere far from civilization.
“Her hair billowed as she stood by the precipice, golden hues dimming in the dying light as she was left disappointed for yet another century. Her tears stung her skin and her throat tightened, but another century is simply common for someone like her. She will wait for his return, even if every mountain has eroded and all that was left of her was hope.” He recited a line from the novel as he took even ambles towards the girl, and he did not falter as she turned to face him. He offered her a smile and bowed with the elegance that his family taught. “Apologies for my disruption, my liege, but I can’t help but be thrilled to see someone with such incredible taste for literature. Not many are fond of historical fiction. Well, in my case, not many are into literature.”
Her eyes appraised him with wonder as she perfected her posture. “That’s one of the lines in the book. My, even I haven’t memorized a single phrase from any of the books in my collections.” She remarked.
“I like to memorize a line or two from all the books I’ve read. It feels like a part of them will always be with me even if my memories fade in time.” Xingqiu gestured to the vacant spot beside her. “May I sit next to you?”
She let out a laugh, to which sent shivers down Xingqiu’s spine. “You may. It’s not everyday I get to speak with someone with the same interests as me.”
He gladly seated himself beside her and immediately, he was greeted with the fragrance of flowers.
The girl extended her hand to him, smilingly softly at him. “My name is ( Your Name ),” She introduced herself. “You’re probably thinking you haven’t seen me around in Liyue, and you’re right. My family is here to meet with the Guhua Clan.”
Xingqiu took her hand and pressed a chaste kiss on the back. “Glad to make your acquaintance, my lady. My name is Xingqiu from the Guhua Clan.”
Her eyebrows raised in acknowledgment. “Is that so?” She mused. “Then, I must show my sincerest gratitude for letting my family into – ”
“Ah, there’s no need for that,” Dismissed Xingqiu as he shook his head. “We’re far from the dinner they’re sharing together. No need to be so formal with me.”
Her smile brightened. “I have a feeling we’re going to get along splendidly, Xingqiu.”
Upon returning together to his house and finding an excuse as to why Xingqiu had been outside did he and ( Your Name ) learn that it was them who were destined to be married when they are of age. The disappointment of meeting his soon-to-be bride has dissipated at the revelation, leaving him filled with utmost joy and pride as to having you as his, and from the shy and gleeful smile that wandered to your lips, Xingqiu can tell you think the same with him.
It was to be expected that the two of you will have a luxurious and grand wedding. With the two of you coming from wealthy families, it was no surprise. If you have insisted for a small wedding consisting only of close relatives and friends, your parents will fear some other elite clans will perceive this as them losing power and money and will take advantage of them or simply cut ties with them. You and Xingqiu had no other choice but to respect their requests. Although Xingqiu was secretly relieved you agreed to a big wedding. For him, you deserved only the best of the best, and in this case, larger is better.
Both families came to an agreement that it would be for the best if the two of you are not to see each other for the week before your wedding day. You found nothing wrong with this arrangement. Xingqiu, however, was the opposite of you.
Many times he tried to sneak out of his house to visit you in secret but Chongyun has thwarted this attempts many times. When he goes to adventures with the Traveler, he find himself missing you in mere hours. How can he survive a whole week without communicating with you?
Oh, how foolish of him. He was now allowed to visit you but he can, however, write letters to you.
For the whole week, Xingqiu will be writing to you without ceasing. You’ll have a difficult time keeping up with his letters but you’ll always find time to respond to him. After all, you missed him just as much as he missed you.
Xingqiu woke up before the sun can call for him. He walked around in his room, breathing in and out as he tried to soothe his joy. Chongyun, who was tasked to look after Xingqiu for the whole week, woke up from the sound of his footsteps. When he stepped inside his best friend’s room, Xingqiu held Chongyun’s hands and twirled him around, startling the half-asleep Cryo user.
“I’m getting married to ( Your Name ) today!”
“I know, Xingqiu. I’ve been stopping you from visiting her the whole week.”
Your wedding was held in a beautiful garden where cherry blossoms flutter and the wind was gentle and cool.
Xingqiu always held his composure in any situations and circumstances he encountered. But he was going to admit that seeing you in your wedding dress with the cherry blossoms kissing your skin and tresses every now and then had him malfunctioning.
It took a worse turn when you finally stood before him, expectantly looking at him. A compliment, a playful jest, a seductive remark - but there was none of that.
Xingqiu stared at you, eyes shining with admiration and his lips parted in pleasant surprise.
“Xingqiu, earth to Xingqiu,” You whispered. “You there?”
It was only after you spoke that Xingqiu snapped out of his stupor.
“Get yourself together, Xingqiu.” Stated Chongyun beside him in a whisper.
It took him a while to find him bearings but when he did, Xingqiu smiled at you and pressed a kiss on your forehead.
“Beautiful, just like the first time I saw you.”
     SCARAMOUCHE
Scaramouche has dedicated his entire life to seeing through what his majesty, the Tsaritsa, desired. His life shall be nothing but a pawn for her to use in her schemes and may her will be done through him and her subjects. If she must dispose of him to make success of her endeavor, Scaramouche will gladly surrender before her eyes and bare his neck for her to cut. He will do anything she commands without a second thought, and anyone who dares get in his way will face the wrath of an incensed Harbinger.
It was all about the Tsaritsa. His entire his existence is for his majesty. It was all he ever believed in when the honor of being the sixth Harbingers was crowned over him. With that said, Scaramouche can never bring himself to admit his resolve has been altered upon his discreet visitation to the City of Freedom to conduct a more intimate investigation over the meteorites and the impact it had on the people of Mondstadt.
His skull was throbbing, his thoughts scattered, and frustration was beginning to settle inside of him. Scaramouche has just dispatched his soldiers to continue their research on the meteors after his failed attempt to eliminate the traveler. He was left alone in the tranquility of the night, with the remnants of the astrologist’s escape glittering beneath his eyes, mocking him.
“I should have acted quicker. The Traveler will continue foiling The Tsaritsa’s plans.” Mumbled Scaramouche to himself. “No matter. There will be another chance in the future to finish off the hero of Mondstadt, and I’m sure it’ll come sooner than I expect. I must prepare for that time. I can’t make this mistake again.”
A curious hum that echoed behind him had him stiffening in his place and drawing out his weapon from thin air. “Are you interested about the meteors too?” A voice asked.
Scaramouche turned around, and he found a woman standing behind him a few meters away. She has a beauty that he favors, a smile so gentle that it thawed a bit of ice in his heart, but a scowl made its way to his countenance. She’s taller than me.
She didn’t look particularly like anyone he would have any interest in knowing, and when she has introduced herself to him after he supplied her with no answer, Scaramouche predicted correctly. She was merely an ordinary folk in any ordinary city with no Vision or any skillset that could benefit him in anything.
“I must get going.” Curtly stated Scaramouche and he turned around without even bidding goodbye to the woman.
“So soon?” You asked. “I thought we could at least talk what’s been happening – about the meteors, the stars.”
Scaramouche frowned at the mention of the latter and he spun back around to meet your gaze. “The stars? What about the stars?”
                                        You smiled a secret smile. “The stars . . . they’re fake.”
Scaramouche stared at you with wonder and amusement in his dark hues. He has always believed in that notion, and only a handful came to agree with him. Now, here a lady stands before him, with nothing in particular to offer him, speaking of the truth many has rejected.
He examined you from head to toe, evaluating your form before beckoning you to come over to him, saying, “Perhaps I can spare some time to talk.”
What was supposed to be a conversation within an hour or so has extended for a day, and when you requested to accompany him back to ship docked in Liyue Harbor to continue your conversation (it surprised him but has nonetheless allowed you to tag along) about the meteors and the stars, it dragged on for weeks.
But Scaramouche would be lying if he said that was all you discussed about. There was only so much information they can relate to the subject that has intertwined their fates that it did not take long for the two of you to stray from it to favor a more civil conversation. He learned of your mundane life back in Mondstadt where you were merely another dot in the bustle of the city and he managed to extract from you valuable material regarding the Honorary Knight (in truth, you have willingly told him everything you knew about the Hero of Mondstadt and this he was very pleased with). He learned about your family, your work, your past, and your ambition to adventure throughout the lands of Teyvat even without a Vision.
He thought it was foolish of you to believe you can ever get out of your city without a Vision. There were too many enemies that a simple adventurer like you could easily be overwhelmed with. Not to mention the Fatuis that he and his fellow Harbingers has placed all throughout Teyvat. The thought of you getting hurt, especially by his own soldiers . . . it did not sit right with him.
Arriving at Liyue Harbor, Scaramouche proposed that you come with him. It is no secret that anyone who do not possess a Vision cannot survive if they were ever to embark on a journey. Hearing your desire for an adventure, Scaramouche has come to decide that as gratitude for your pleasant company and for your compliance in giving him information about the renowned traveler, he shall take you along in his voyage, showing you the grandest landscapes, granting your every need and desires, all the while keeping you at his side where he was certain you were safe.
It was all to thank you, nothing else. It wasn’t because Scaramouche knew he would find himself missing you and the comfort you bring when you leave, nor was it because he was fond of you. Yes, yes, all just to show his gratitude.
As his soldiers watched as Scaramouche led you aboard in ship with his hand interlocked with yours, they thought the same thing – Scaramouche is never the one to show gratitude to anyone. You had him smitten.
How you were able to fall in love with Scaramouche in such a short period of time is fascinating. Especially with his horrid personality.
But he was different with you. He was gentle, caring, and never raised his voice. The insults remained but there was no venom behind them. It took you quite some time to get used to his belittling remarks but it didn’t evade your perception how Scaramouche begun lessening his insults, opting for a more playful jab instead.
He proposed to you over at dinner. He had just come back from an expedition and came home to a table filled with your cooking. As the two of you are exchanging your stories of what went with your lives when you two were separated, Scaramouche placed his chopsticks away, looked at you straight in the eyes and said, “Marry me.”
How can you say no to such a romantic proposal?
Actually, you made him redo his proposal before you accepted but nobody else has to know about that.
There was no best man for Scaramouche in your wedding. The man was feared by everyone, and his fellow Harbingers hated him. Childe did insist on being his best man at one point but he almost ended up being fried by a lightning bolt. Apparently, the 11th Harbinger pestered him for a whole week trying to convince him to let him be the best man so his actions were justified - just a little bit.
You have to give it to Scaramouche. Regardless of his busy schedule and the current predicament in Inazuma, he managed to find time and opportunity to plan your wedding and marry you without having to worry about the Electro Archon and her subjects.
Scaramouche scoffed at the tradition of not being able to see you on the very day of your wedding. What good would it be? You were going to be his wife, and he wanted to see his wife. He saw himself above tradition, and visited you first thing in the morning at the day of the wedding.
It was no question Scaramouche was an authoritative man but he was more so as he prepared himself for the wedding.
His maids ran about in the room, providing everything he needed and wanted. Scaramouche was not known for being compassionate, but this was the first time they’ve been on the receiving end of his wrath. Normally, he would ignore their existence and not even bother to call them by their names but today, he was different. He acted worse than when he comes home after a failed mission.
The maids knew he was beyond frustrated with the wedding. So, they called to ask for your help.
“Scaramouche, you’re scaring the maids.” You cooed as you came up behind him and placed your hands on his shoulders.
Scaramouche let out a scoff, but you felt his frame soften. He sat before a mirror, and he gazed at your reflection as he placed a hand over one of yours. “Even they weren’t so terrible with their jobs . . . ”
“You’re making things so hard for them. And for yourself too.” You stated. “Marrying me shouldn’t be hard, should it?”
That statement set Scaramouche right, and when you left to carry on with your own preparation and the maids returned to their duties, he was more civil with them. If that’s what you want, then he can endure it.
The hour has finally arrived. Scaramouche has faced many dangers in his life, but it was only now he felt restless. What is taking you so long? He thought you wanted to marry him. Then what’s warranting your late arrival?
At that thought, you finally appeared by the end of the aisle, holding a bouquet in your hands. Everyone in the venue gaped at your beauty, and Scaramouche was thankful you had everyone gazing at you. He didn’t want them to see the dumbfounded and poorly hidden lovestruck expression that crossed his mien for a moment.
But a sense of pride also touched him.
That’s my bride.
When the ceremony begins, you and Scaramouche were seated side by side. You smiled brightly at him when you sat, but he didn’t any indication that he saw your smile and continued giving his undivided attention on the person conducting your wedding. You pouted heavily at this but said nothing and followed his actions. However, your smile returned when you felt his fingers hooking with yours. It was a small improvement, but it was intimate and loving.
Scaramouche didn’t cry in your wedding but when his arms held you tightly to his chest when evening came and two of you lied down on your shared bed, it was enough for you to know he loved you as much as you loved him.
Maybe more so.
     RAZOR
Razor rarely experience human interaction, and if he did, it would be abrupt and depending on how the communication was being dealt by both parties, it would either be Razor who parts from them first out of wariness or lacking knowledge of being social or the other would, most of the time for the reason they find it disturbing a human could act so much like a wolf. The humans Razor constantly encounter are the hunters from Springvale and due to their bellowing voices and violence against his Lupicals, he has limited his ventures to Mondstadt unless something calls for an emergency.
Other than the man who gave him his name, Razor only knew a handful of people – six of them being the Traveler, Traveler’s companion, Bennett, Klee, her big brother Albedo, and the woman he sees as his mentor, Lisa. He can only ever let his guard down when around them, though he was still a wee bit cautious of Albedo whenever Klee drags him to his camp.
He didn’t think he could meet anyone else who can consider a Lupical. That was until he met you. You were taking a peaceful stroll around Wolvendom – Archons know why you chose the most avoided place in Mondstadt to walk through – at the same time he was hunting down boars for his Lupicals.
There was no rescuing or danger involved when he met you. It was a simple encounter, to which Razor was pleasantly surprised with. In almost all occasions, when he is meeting a fellow human being, it would be under rather unusual circumstances. He met the Traveler and her floating friend when they were being attacked by slimes. He met Lisa when she has painted the skies dark as she was singlehandedly fending herself off from a mob of Hilichurls. He met Klee when she was using her bombs to fish. He met Albedo in the middle of a chaotic experiment to which resulted in an evacuation. He met Bennett when he was hanging upside down from a tree when he tried to take an apple from a high branch, and the tree was up in flames.
To say, meeting you normally was a breath of fresh air.
The two of you hit it off almost immediately, or so that is what it seems to you. Although you consider Razor a good friend even in just the few days you have met, he was still very careful of you. He had been deceived by humans before and it may be a little unfair to you since he trusted the Traveler and Bennett almost in an instant, he must first know you are trustworthy.
And indeed, you’ve proven yourself as such. Perhaps, more so than the Traveler. You have done everything to show him you have no ill intentions against him and his Lupicals – helped him in hunting for sustenance for his family even if you have to knowledge in hunting, helping him broaden his vocabulary, helping him read and write – but it was your sacrifice to protect them that made him truly open himself up to you.
An Abyss Mage has appeared out of nowhere and has wreaked havoc in their residence. Razor can feel his heart thundering as he raced through Wolvendom along with a few of his Lupicals who he had gone out with to hunt. Upon arriving at their home, Razor has anticipated to see the grass painted with red and wounded wolves whimpering in pain as others try to battle against the Abyss Mage. But to his relief, such image was not implemented into reality. Instead, he found his Lupicals sleeping soundly in their den, and the remains of the Abyss Mage has slowly evaporated in thin air. As the particles gradually disappeared, they made way for your presence to be revealed.
Razor let out a gasp when he laid eyes on you. Bruised, bleeding, exhausted, but smiling as you happily waved at him with the hand clutching your weapon.
You happily advanced towards him, tittering. Razor reached out to take your hand, and reluctantly asked of your welfare. Now he understood why humans ask how one is fairing when they are clearly unwell – they do not know what else to say.
“Why would you do that?” Razor questioned as he brought you far from his den to tend to your wounds without waking his family. “You are hurt now.”
“I can’t let an Abyss Mage hurt your Lupical.” You answered firmly, the smile you wore dissipating as you gazed into his eyes. “I might not be as strong as the Honorary Knight or Acting Grand Master Jean, but I fought well.”
What was this odd sensation he was feeling? This strong urge to protect you, to take you in his arms and never let you go – what was this? He has never felt like this before. So light, so . . . flustered. He thought this feeling would be gone after a few days, but months has passed and since then, the feeling became more prominent, stronger. All the time he could never get enough of you and there will always be that lingering trickle of pain in his chest when you have to leave for the day. Razor knew you would come back the day after when the night has gone, but it never stopped that little ache.
Razor understood that he lacked understanding of feelings, so he confided to Bennett about it. Bennett was almost as clueless as Razor about feelings – almost – but he did know when someone was taking a liking of someone in a more amorous manner. He has filled Razor about exactly what he was feeling for you, and not the kind of feeling that he has for him and the Traveler, but the kind of liking he would have towards a . . . girlfriend? (Bennett had to explain to him the meaning behind girlfriend and it was no easy task).
            “Liking someone like a girlfriend . . . ” Razor muttered, scrunching his face in puzzlement. “ . . . like a mate?”
Bennett flushed at the word but nodded. “Yes, like a mate.”
Bennett tried his best to help Razor confess to you, and this is where disaster happened. Since Razor is mostly uneducated in terms of romantic feelings, he did not feel any anxiety crawling up to him when he decided to admit his feelings to you. The problem is that he has decided to confess in a wrong time and in a difficult situation.
“You should confess to her after you’ve saved her from danger!” Exclaimed Bennett, beaming at Razor.
The latter tilted his head to the side. “Razor doesn’t . . . get it.”
“Well, in the books I’ve read, the guys confess to the girls they like in a dangerous time. I don’t know how that’s safe, but it works. But since we don’t want to hurt ( Your Name ), you’ll save her before confessing!”
Bless his innocent heart, Razor trusted Bennett’s word without a smidge of doubt. His opportunity to admit his feelings came when the two of you saw Reckless Pallad being surrounded by Hilichurls getting ready to pounce on him. The thing is you too knew your way around a battlefield and have efficiently begun fighting off the Hilichurls. Razor watched as you made quick work of rescuing Reckless Pallad and he didn’t even notice himself beginning to pout in disappointment until you were right in front of him again, worriedly gazing at him.
“Razor, what’s wrong?” You questioned, appraising him. “You’re not injured, are you?”
He shook his head. “Razor not injured.” He confirmed.
“Well, that’s good, but why aren’t you moving? We need to save that man.”
“Razor wanted to confess to ( Your Name ) by saving her.”
Razor explained the plan of his confession he conspired with Bennett, how he would save you from danger and tell you his everlasting love that he didn’t notice the redness tinting your cheeks and the wide smile stretching across your face.
Razor only took note of the phenomenon occurring on your features when he has finished elaborating his scheme. He narrowed his eyes curiously. “Your face is all . . . red. Sick?” He asked.
Razor didn’t have a chance to further speculate just exactly was ailing you before you took hold of his face and softly placed your lips against him, catching him off guard.
There was a blossom in his chest when you kissed him – this is love, right? Razor decided there and then he liked this feeling of love.
Needless to say, Reckless Pallad was left alone for the Traveler to save. Again.
Razor had no idea what weddings were. He has never heard of such thing before. The first time he did learn about it was when he was hanging out with you and the Traveler. The latter mentioned that you and him are invited in a wedding. Razor tilted his head in confusion but when he turned to ask you what it was, he froze. Your eyes were shimmering with joy and excitement. Razor liked seeing you like that.
So when you were preoccupied, Razor asked the Traveler what a wedding was. Perhaps a wedding was some sort of food that he can find in the wild?
After Traveler has explained what weddings are and the concept of marriage as well, Razor did not waste time trying to propose to you. Since he had no money to buy a very expensive ring, he asked Bennett for help to find materials so he can make one of his own. In the end, they had Wagner help them form a ring. It wasn’t exactly the best looking but when Razor showed it to you and asked for your hand in marriage (Traveler helped him with his proposal speech and had to explain that asking for your hand doesn’t mean literal), and he saw the pure joy on your face, he thought it was pretty enough for you.
Razor didn’t know you were happy mostly because he proposed to you but you didn’t tell him. He looked so proud with the ring.
Your wedding was small and only a very few people were invited. Klee insisted on being one of the flower girls and Razor almost agreed until she began spouting about bombs which will detonate in the air and will explode with flowers. Albedo advised Razor not to make her one of the flower girls because Klee, for sure, will bring flower bombs (it will explode with flowers, but the explosion is still there).
Razor chose Bennett as his best man. That was supposed to be a good thing but when the two of those pair up together, they can tend to cause a lot of chaos, unintentionally.
At the day of the wedding, nearly all the invitees refuse to enter the cathedral as they claim there was danger inside. When Kaeya and Jean came to inspect this danger they speak of, both wielded their weapons once seeing a pack of wolves huddled at the front, just before the altar, with Bennett and Razor telling them to behave.
You had to explain to Razor why it was dangerous and made people uncomfortable when there are wolves present in the cathedral. Although Razor was understandably disappointed by this, he conceded and brought his Lupicals back to Wolvendom. To make it up to him, you promised a private celebration will be held in Wolvendom with nobody else but you, him, Bennett, and of course, his Lupicals.
Razor didn’t know why Bennett seemed more nervous than him when the two of them were standing by the altar.
“I’m going to ruin your wedding, Razor! Aren’t you worried?”
“ . . . but you not ruining anything . . . ?”
When you finally arrived in the cathedral, Razor felt excitement surge in his body and he can hardly stop himself from squirming on his seat.
But he wasn’t smiling. These emotions . . . he was having a hard time comprehending them. It was good, it was nice, but it was overwhelmingly so.
He could have cried, and he almost did but when you were before him, smiling at him, he couldn’t help but smile back.
His beautiful wife, his Lupical.
Bennett was the one who cried in your wedding.
     ALBEDO
It was always a fascinating sight to see a traveler meandering through Dragonspine without minding the sheer cold or flawlessly fending themselves off from the enemies lurking around. Even Albedo has some degree of difficult in navigating his way back to his camp without the Fatui spotting him or tailing him. But it was more fascinating to see a young woman standing in the middle of a freezing lake with nothing but her trousers and her brassiere.
It was a peculiar meeting, yes, but out of the ordinary people and matters has always endeared him.
Albedo brought you to his camp as quickly as he can and asked Timaeus to hand you a cup of warm tea and a blanket. After thanking him for his kindness and consuming half of the beverage generously given to you, you introduced yourself.
You were an adventurer who came all the way from Liyue to embark on a journey to discover the harshness and secrets that laid within Dragonspine, a mountain many do not dare set foot further in. Other than the mentioned reasons, training was a top priority of yours. You claim one cannot go further in their adventure while being comfortable in their current, and he completely agrees with your statement. When Albedo questioned why you had been in the middle of a lake in Dragonspine, you answered that being able to withstand the cold was just part of your training and seeing as he had caught you shivering to close to death, it was not going well.
Albedo didn’t think he would see you again after you parted from him, but he was surprised when the next day he found you waiting for him in his camp, a smile on your face as you stand proudly and wave at him.
Something about you piqued his interest, if his interest was somehow related to how his heart accelerated whenever you come close to him to offer help with his experiment, or when his face grows hot if you offer him a compliment. He thought it was your way of showing him your gratefulness for taking care of you yesterday, so he allowed your presence in his camp, around him. Albedo didn’t expect you to visit again the next day, and the day after that, and so on and so forth. But he can’t say he disliked your frequent visitations, or your presence that always seem to be following him everywhere he went. He very much liked your company and thoroughly enjoyed listening about your adventures and everything you came across in your adventure. They were a good distraction from his experiments. Everything about you set his mind in ease.
It wasn’t long until the two of you are spending more time together alone. No experiments, no work in mind. It just the two of you keeping one another company and sharing stories about your days, and making banters here and there – whether it be in a walk under the moon, or sharing a meal in Good Hunter, or while he paints somewhere in Dragonspine.
Although Albedo was not well versed in the complexity of romance and has deemed relationships to be rather tedious to uphold, but he was knowledgeable enough to know that in the process of his growing friendship with you, he has caught feelings for you.
This has certainly brought difficulty in his relationship with you. Albedo, although never verbally admitting so, has always thought of feelings as a nuisance. In a relationship, in his own observation, disadvantages trump over advantages. He had seen the irrationality that love has caused, the stupidity. His observation led him to one conclusion – other than being friends with people, relationships is not for him.
You have put him in a challenging situation. It would have been easy to cut ties with you if you haven’t successfully infiltrated his walls and snaked your way in his heart. The very thought of pushing you away was repulsive to him. Seeing the hurt cross your features – it will haunt him for the rest of his life.
The interest he had for you was not interest at all. It was the beginning of love. He should have been more alert, and this wouldn’t have happened.
What if you returned his feelings and your relationship did not work? There was no way your friendship could be salvaged. Isn’t it much better to remain as friends than risk ruining any chance of keeping you in his life?
No, no, that would be insanely idiotic. It will eat him up. Thus, he treated his feelings for you like an experiment. Dipping carefully, testing the waters – confessing to you.
He can construct a confession that will perfectly enunciate his feelings for you while emphasizing your freedom to reject him and his desire to remain good friends with you. Surely, you didn’t reciprocate his feelings. All he needed is for you to let him down, and he will hope you can still see him the same way after.
All his preparations, however, were thrown out of the window when you beat him to confessing.
Albedo had no idea how struck his expression must have been with puzzlement, anxiety and flatter as he attentively listens to every word that leaves your lips. His heart pounded at everything you were saying – everything he adored about you, you adored about him. Being unable to speak his mind felt foreign to him. After you finished your confession, a beautiful red hue coloring your cheeks as you looked into his eyes with hopefully eyes, all he can do his open his mouth a smidge, and close, and then open again. He must have resembled a goldfish at that time.
Albedo couldn’t believe it. You loved him, and here he was expecting to be rejected and thinking relationships were a waste of time.
He was in a dilemma now. Accept your feelings as his heart desired to, or gently reject you for practicality? Having a lover would complicate his life and he will risk so many things that he were used to just to be able to keep his relationship with you fruitful. Was he ready for something like that?
This was the first time Albedo has listened to his heart. He still remembered how he cupped your face in his hands and pressed his lips against yours, muffling the gasp that tumbled out of you.
Albedo might be a stranger to romance but he is an Alchemist and risks are part of his job, and risking coming out of his comfort to be with you was something you deserve, and maybe something he deserved as well.
You knew Albedo was going to propose to you. He was always immersed in his experiments and research that you took the responsibility of tidying up his lab. It did not take long for you to find a small black box nestled in the back inside a drawer filled with haphazardly thrown papers and used pens.
Albedo knew that you knew he was going to propose to you. The two of you were taking a peaceful stroll around Dragonspine and after a heartfelt speech, he knelt down to one knee, he curiously watched as you malfunctioned right in front of him, trying to elect which route of surprise should you take before displaying a less then satisfactory theatrics of surprise.
Nonetheless, the two of you are still happy.
You and Albedo agreed that the two of you will have a small and private wedding. Klee, however, did not. She was less than thrilled to hear about that and went on a whole spiel of the reasons why you should have the biggest and most fun wedding ever, as she said.
“ - then where will a really, really tall wedding cake and Klee is going to make a bomb that will explode in the skies where it will burst out many pretty flower petals - ”
Jean promised the two of you that she will keep an eye on her at the day of the wedding.
Albedo is adamant on two things - a small wedding, and having no best man, and the latter had two reasons. Although he is highly respected in Mondstadt, there was no one he could ask to be best man, and the second reason is that he loves you and is certain that marrying you is something he wants. No doubts. He didn’t need a best man helping him in something he didn’t need help with.
Albedo was also not someone to conform to the ritual of not seeing the bride on the day of the wedding until the very ceremony, but for you, he begrudgingly followed.
On the day of the wedding, Albedo prepared himself without the help of anyone. He prepared his own clothes and had Klee braid his hair (it was a wee bit sloppy and Albedo fixed them when she had her back turned to him and gave her all the credit).
The man reached for the door to visit you but he let out a sigh when he realized that he cannot. He made a promise that today, the first time he’ll see you is when you walk down the aisle. He has to keep his promise. Not to mention Klee blocked his way and reminded him of that (tried to block).
Albedo was a patient man. Patience was nothing new to him. His research and experiments needed patience or they will ultimately fail. It came to the point where being impatient made him uncomfortable. That’s exactly what was happening when he was standing at the altar. Nobody, not even the observant Kaeya himself, can tell Albedo was beginning to lose his patience.
The day had been a little too long. He wanted to see you already. It didn’t matter if the ceremony would take a while before he can kiss you and call you his wife. He just wanted to see you again.
Albedo turned away the moment you stepped inside the cathedral. You were far from repulsive or ugly (and he can never think of you like that), but he had to cast his gaze somewhere but on you. He knew you’ll be beautiful in your wedding dress, but seeing you now with your adorable and shy smile, with Cecilia flowers in your hands, and your eyes fixated on him and only him - Albedo nearly lost his composure.
This time he was sure Kaeya saw it.
“Waah, big sister ( Your Name ) looks soooo pretty!” Klee cooed loudly, causing the guests to let out a few chuckles of amusement.
His impatience was beginning to pierce through him. The moment you faced him, Albedo did not waste time grabbing your hands, and once he did, you saw him visibly soften, as though a huge burden was lifted from his shoulders.
“What happened to you?” You asked, giggling.
Albedo returned your smile. “I’m just very happy to see you.”
The fervor that he exuded when he kissed you certainly supported his statement.
THOSE WHO WILL HIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RECEPTION TO CRY SOMEWHERE NO ONE CAN SEE THEM
     CHONGYUN
Chongyun was known for two things – being an exorcist and having a type of condition that needed his keen observation and awareness.
He has always disliked his condition. Whenever his Yang energy overwhelms, he must immediately consume an icy treat to be able to soothe his nerves. But it seems he can be thankful for it for this one time. If it wasn’t for his congenital positivity, he wouldn’t have stumbled across you, and your hundred homemade ice cream you smuggled out of your own home.
Chongyun had been hurrying to meet his friend at that day. He had just finished an exorcism somewhere in Qingce Village and was rushing to where he and Xingqiu usually meet in Liyue. He was already running late, and who knows what Xingqiu will do if he was late again. He let out a pained yelp when he crashed against your form when he made a sharp turn, and his Yang energy has never been in a more unstable state than when he saw you seated on the ground, groaning in pain, with peculiar looking containers littering the floor around you.
Chongyun had profusely apologized for his actions and assisted you in gathering all the belongings he had knocked off your possession. He felt the coldness in the small containers you once held and wondered what was inside. He hasn’t seen anything like this before. He knew his Yang energy was starting to ooze out of him but he underestimated its manifestation until you placed your hand over his forehead. He pulled back away instantly, startled by your actions, to which you immediately apologized.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” He repeated, light blue hair bobbing with his movements as he bowed his head over to you again and again, mortification palpable on his features. “I-I didn’t mean to run – ”
“No, no, I should be the one apologizing! I wasn’t looking where I was going and I put my hand on you all of a sudden – ” You were about to continue spewing apologies and explanations when you froze, concern etching across his face. “ - oh, hey, you’re really, really red. Are you okay?”
Even when it had been years since his encounter with you, he still gets embarrassed when he remembered that, and you and Xingqiu tease him about it.
He explained to you then about his condition and when you offered him a container you owned containing ice cream you made, that’s when your friendship begun. When the two of you snuck out to a secluded area in Liyue Harbor to gorge on the tons of ice cream you have once again brought out of your house despite your mother’s warnings did he know it would be a friendship that will last long. His only regret was that he introduced you to Xingqiu, and now he must endure double the teasing.
One thing he appreciated about you was how ready you were whenever you were with him. You made it your point to know what can cause his condition to act up and soothe him by your words, and always having ice cream with you. And the best part was that the ice cream you give him is always homemade, made by you. His popsicles could never compete to your masterpiece.
He never really thought of you as someone he would be romantically interested in. Sure, there were instances when his Yang energy would flare up because of having you by his side, when your smile brought upon his own, when his heart raced when you held his hand as the two of you were returning from a commission, when he gazed at you with adoration when you took care of him and fed him cold noodles when he was having a fever (he refused to eat hot noodles even in his illness). Surely, all friends do that with one another, right? And feeling this odd sensation in his chest was normal, right?
When he confided in Xingqiu with this, the boy laughed at his cluelessness. It wasn’t surprising. Chongyun did not have a lot of friends so distinguishing friendship and romance was not easy for him. The Hydro Vision holder filled him in with everything he has to know about relationships, and he used some pretty unconventional ways like giving him a too descriptive image of how a man and woman would kiss, and other explicit doings of adults.
But it did bring light one thing – Chongyun liked you, and of course how he handled such revelation was, simply put, disastrous.
His entire body felt hot, and he was stammering to the point even the ever so eloquent Xingqiu cannot understand him. Normally, when things get like this, he’ll rush over to your place and request for some of your delicious ice cream but seeing as you were somehow part of the reason for this, he had to rely on Xingqiu to take care of him.
After learning about his feelings for you, Chongyun have never been more uneasy around you, which was odd, and he was sure you’ve noticed, and yet has never dropped any comment about it.
He was always nervous around you. Blushing whenever you come close to him, jumping when you take his hand in his, stammering whenever you praise him for anything, feeling the need to run away if you ask him about how he was fairing – he has lost count just how many popsicles he has eaten just to keep his cool. He has stopped asking ice cream from you and declined any offer from you because he thought accepting your homemade ice creams could lead him to falling deeper in love with you until he couldn’t move on anymore.
Chongyun didn’t notice your growing impatience. He was so immersed in his own feelings that he didn’t take into consideration how you felt whenever he flinched away from your touch and rejected your treats.
It took Xingqiu for the growing tension between the two of you to alleviate. He made an elaborate plan to get the two of you together in an isolated place (a broom closet) and has made a claim not to let any of you go until the two of you have confessed your feelings with each other.
“Just tell me what’s wrong with you, Chongyun! Why are you acting so weird around me?” You asked him but he refused to answer you just as he refused to look at you.
You let out a sigh as you reached out to take his hand but when he pulled away from your touch, that was the last straw.
“If you don’t want to be friends with me anymore, just say so.”
Alarmed, Chongyun faced you, stuttering. “No! Of course, I want to be friends with you - I mean, I don’t want to be friends - wait, that sounded wrong, and so bad - ”
Your brows burrowed together in question. “You want to be friends but you don’t want to be friends?”
Chongyun groaned as he buried his face on his hands. It’s now or never.
                “I like you, ( Your Name ).”
The silence that followed was deafening for Chongyun. He removed his hands from his face and prepared himself to apologize and beg to continue being friends when he felt hands cup his face, and your lips pressing against his. It was a good thing you had ice cream on you even after he avoided you for weeks. He almost fainted in your arms if it wasn’t for you shoving a finger in his mouth with a scoop of ice cream.
It was one of the few times Chongyun was grateful for Xingqiu’s interest in romantic tropes because if it wasn’t for him, he wouldn’t have left that room with a blushing but happy face with you.
Xingqiu smirked as the two of you exited the room, hand in hand and redness coating your cheeks. “Well, well, well, look who - ”
“Shut up, Xingqiu,” You and Chongyun chorused. The two of you looked at each other out of surprise and then burst out laughing, all the while the Hydro Vision user stood by the side, sighing.
“Now, I have to deal with these two’s teasing.”
When Chongyun realized he was ready to propose to you after years of being together, he asked Xingqiu to propose to you on his behalf.
His best friend nearly destroyed his book from whacking the Cryo user for thinking such an inane idea could work. Not only was it not romantic, it was also inappropriate. Xingqiu had to reprimand him for an entire hour proposing that idea but being a good best friend that he is despite his mischievous streak, he vowed to help the man propose to you.
It was no easy task and there were times where Chongyun held himself back and risking yet another proposal plan. He was thankful Xingqiu was well versed with romance and everything entailed with it and knew more ways to help him. After a countless of delays, Chongyun managed to get down on one knee one fine evening by the trails leading to Liyue Harbor, spew out affirmation of his love for you in stammers, and asked for your hand in marriage.
When you accepted his proposal and adorned your finger with the ring, Chongyun discreetly showed a thumbs up to a nearby bush. About three hands popped out from the leaves, offering the same action.
Xingqiu let out a sigh as Xiangling and Xinyan giggled. “Finally.” He breathed out. “Now, time for me to be his best man.”
Of course, Chongyun chose him as his best man. Who else would be a better choice than him?
Chongyun is firm about Xingqiu being his best man but sometimes he can be a little bit . . . pushy, especially when it comes to something he believes in.
There was a tradition where he cannot see you for a whole week until the ceremony. Chongyun was mildly bothered by this arrangement but nonetheless, since you agree with it, he will respect your wishes and do the same. Xingqiu has over and over again tried to persuade him to visit you at home, and he made some interesting points why he should. He almost convinced him a few times but in the end, he refused to be lured in his trap and stopped the temptation of breaking his promise.
He missed you dearly, yes, and his patience will surely be rewarded soon.
Chongyun, as expected, was freaking out at the day of wedding. Marriage is a huge step for the both of you. You’re not going to regret marrying him, will you? What if this marriage didn’t work? He’ll lose you for you.
Xingqiu had to guide him away from the altar and to a corner for privacy. Other than you, Xingqiu was a person who had been when his condition start acting up and how it worked.
After successfully cooling him down with a popsicle, Xingqiu consoled Chongyun. “I don’t know what you’re thinking about back there but you have nothing to worry about. ( Your Name ) loves you.”
“What if it doesn’t work between us?”
“It will. I’ve seen how you two are. You’re perfect for each other. I think you already know that, and ( Your Name ) does too. Why would she accept your proposal if she didn’t think the two of you wouldn’t prosper together?”
Chongyun murmured. “Pity?”
If Xingqiu had a book with at that moment, he would have smacked Chongyun again.
Once his condition has subsided, Chongyun returned to the altar and Xingqiu stood behind him, waiting.
The moment you arrived, Chongyun can feel himself heating up and his heart pounding against his chest. It felt like his condition was acting up but he wasn’t feeling nauseous or at the edge of fainting. It was a pleasant sort of warmth, the warmth he felt when he first met you.
No. It was the same warmth that travels through his body whenever he sees you, but this time, it was stronger to the point he it almost felt like his condition.
Your smile immediately disappeared when you saw Chongyun flushed red and his eyes averting from yours.
Worry encapsulated you. “Is your condition acting up?” You asked in a whisper.
Chongyun blinked, puzzled. “What?”
Discreetly taking a gander at the audience completely unaware of your interaction, you slipped your hand under your dress and showed Chongyun was a small ice cream container.
“I brought this with me just in case.”
Chongyun decided he made the best decision of his life to marry you.
He took your hands in his and pressed a small kiss on top of one.
“Thank you, love.”
After the wedding, Chongyun immediately visited the comfort room. You tried to follow him but Xingqiu told you there was nothing to worry about, and he was right.
When he entered the comfort room, Chongyun locked the door behind him and headed straight to the sink to splash some water on his face.
One won’t be able to tell Chongyun was crying from the water streaming down his face.
He looked up at the mirror, staring at his reflection as he let out a small, and content sigh.
“I’m married. I’m married to her.” Chongyun tried to hold back his smile, but he failed. “She’s my . . . wife.”
And did it sound nice to call you his wife.
     XIAO
It was his duties to Rex Lapis, to the thriving land of Liyue, that kept Xiao grounded and his mind temporarily fleeting away from the karmic debts that weighed on his shoulders. If it had not been for the responsibilities laid down on him, he was sure to have succumb to the consequences of his bloodshed from the past long ago. It was the reason behind his creation, to serve the people of Liyue and protect them from any transgressors or anything that could potentially lead to their destruction, and it was all he knew. His existence was all for Liyue, and to seek out the desires of Rex Lapis and accomplish them no matter how difficult and by what means.
Day and night he oversees every part of Liyue and hears every call of his name and seeks refuge in Wangshu Inn. It was a cycle that has never changed ever since the gruesome war between gods has taken place in Teyvat, and all was same until that night when he heard a cry for help from a distant place, and rescued a strange maiden from the peril she found herself in.
Love at first sight disgusted him the most. He can understand, to some degree, that mortals can fall in love with people they have built a caring and trusting relationship with but falling in love with someone who one has no dust of knowledge of their identity was simply unwise and incomprehensible. And yet there he was, leaping from the precipice of a soaring mountain and securing the mortal in the middle of her fall.
Xiao had no clue why it felt like time has stopped and they have gently floated in the air as he took a gander at the woman in his arms. Scratches littered her features, and twigs adorned her mop of hair, but she still shone brighter than the stars and moon behind her.
He did not let her speak to him after he has placed her safely on solid ground and he quickly took his leave without even a glance back.
When he had painted the lands of Teyvat red with the other Yakshas, he did not blink an eye or feel a bead of sweat trail on the side of his face. But that woman has caused his chest to flutter, and he always find himself thinking back to the day he had saved her. If he had been like any other mortal which has sleep as a necessity, he would find himself thinking of you every morning and every night, longing for another chance to meet you again. What has she done to him? He already has to carry the burden of his sins, and now he must endure this painful curse she casted on him?
But it didn’t matter now. She was already long gone, for all he knows, and he doesn’t even know her name.
Xiao already came to accept that she was merely going to fleet away from his mind, a distant memory that his heart will ache every time he remembers her. He had many regrets in his lifetime, and this leaving her behind without knowing her name is one of them.
But it seems to him that Rex Lapis has taken favor of him and has graced his undeserving existence. Xiao had just exterminated a Hilichurl camp getting increasingly close to Wangshu Inn when his ears preened and his pupils dilated – that voice, the same voice that he never thought he’d hear again, was calling out for him again. He did not find the time to dispose of the monsters in a more appropriate location where they will no longer continue their venture towards the inn, and quickly made his way to where he heard her.
When he arrived, it did not take long for him to spot her standing perfectly still in front of him, hands behind her back. His eyes dilated as he took in her familiar form. Her tresses were no longer matted with twigs and mud, the scratches that once marred her skin no longer present, and a smile has replaced the cowering fear that adorned her visage before.
Xiao ignored the increasing heartbeat that drummed against his chest and surveyed the area with a flick of his spear. “There’s no danger.” He remarked after assessing the parameter, his mask dissipating into the night as he returned his gaze back at her.
She rubbed her arm as she averted her eyes from him. “I spent months trying to find you again.” The mortal woman murmured. “When all has failed, I thought back to that night you saved me, and I called – and you came.”
Xiao did not speak another word, but he was afraid that you can hear how loud his heart was racing. He needed to ignore his selfishness, he needed to leave. “If you’re not in any danger, then I’ll be leaving.”
He turned around to do as he said, but his eyes widened when he felt your hand around his wrist.
“Wait, please,” She pleaded, and when he looked over his shoulder, any resolve of leaving her again vanished. She was looking at him with hopeful and vibrant orbs. How can he ever let her down when she’s looking at him like that?
Xiao let out a sigh and turned back around to meet her properly, but her hand never left him. Were you afraid he might disappear as quickly as he did like last time?
                                    “Don’t go.”
“Why not?” Xiao questioned. “If you know anything about an Adeptus, then you understand my duties.”
She bit her lip as he withdrew her hold. Xiao missed the warmth she gave him already. “I know that but . . . ” She trailed off. “ . . . can I . . . at least know your name?”
Xiao did not give her an answer.
“Even if we never meet again, I want to at least know the name of man who saved me.” She mumbled softly. “But I’m afraid if I ever know your name, I’ll never get to think of any other man but you.”
Xiao appraised you, taking in her apprehensive frame. A mortal has fallen in love with an Adeptus? This was preposterous. He saved her months ago, and back then they shared little time together. Too little to gain feelings for him.
But still, he found himself relenting to your wishes.
“Xiao,” He answered. “My name is Xiao.”
Don’t look for another man. I’m here. I’m staying.
That’s how he met his first and last love, ( Your Name ).
Xiao has lived in Teyvat for thousands of years and is knowledgeable of the culture of mortals, one of them being marriage. He had witnessed humans bounding themselves to another, promising to cherish them, protect them, to love them. For Xiao, marriage is something far from disgusting. Although he cannot understand the need for them to be together under an oath, it was undeniable that many great things and opportunities birthed from them.
However, no matter how beautiful it is for them, it will never stop perplexing Xiao. How is it that one can look at another and know that they’re the one? Are they not afraid to be betrayed? Are humans so willing to have themselves get hurt and offer forgiveness for the sake of love? It’s confusing for him.
Not until you came along that it made sense. Every argument, every disagreement, sleepless nights, every sincere apology, every countless forgiveness, every embrace, every kiss - is this what mortals feel? If so, he’ll endure all the hardships of love if it means staying by your side, and he knew that you feel the same.
Unfortunately, Xiao is not one for marriage.
Not that he does not love you - oh Archons, because he did, deeply so - but the consequences of your relationship always hang in front of him.
It’s already a risk to let you in his heart and love someone as sinful as him, but the thought of you bearing his karmic debt terrified him.
What happens if the two of you are bound together, and under a contract that Rex Lapis will surely oversee? Will the demons that torment him sink their teeth on your pure and innocent soul? Will he see the life in your eyes wither as you strive to remain with him? And what if you try to break the contract to escape karma? Will the both of you suffer in karma and the wrath of the rock?
Xiao can’t do that to you. This is one way he can guarantee your safety. It hurts him to know he cannot marry you, and it hurt more when he saw the disappointment and pain in your eyes when he explained himself. But keeping you safe is his top priority. He deserved this punishment, he can’t put it over your shoulders too.
But that didn’t stop Xiao from imagining how your wedding could have been if things we’re a little different.
A small wedding in a place of your choice with only a handful of close friends and families. You’ll wear a gorgeous dress and walk up to where he is with the same smile you wore when he met you for the second time.
As you stand before him, Xiao could only imagine the happiness and contentment he would feel at that time.
He’ll hold you close, hear you laugh, and then he’ll press his lips against yours, sealing you to a promise that everything that he is, and everything that he has, is yours.
He’ll find himself retreating somewhere private. He didn’t want you to see him vulnerable, weak, as he cried for the first time in his life, and for the greatest reason.
He could have a chance of happiness, but he can’t.
It was all a dream.
A dream he will never achieve, a dream of yours that he can never grant.
“Xiao, you’re still awake?”
The man looked away from the moon and looked over his shoulder to see you standing by the threshold leading to the terrace. You were tired, and yet you woke up to tend to him.
“You know I don’t need sleep.”
“But you always lie next to me. What’s wrong? Something bothering you?”
Xiao did not respond, and you didn’t push any further. He adored it how you know when to prod to a subject or not. You know him so well.
After a moment of silence, you walked over to him and sat  beside him on the railing. You looked up at the moon, and Xiao slowly placed his head over your shoulder.
He felt at peace.
Xiao closed his eyes, dreaming of a day that will never come when he can marry you without anything holding him back.
     KAZUHA
Kazuha can no longer remember how long it has been since he was on the run from the shogunate. The Electro Archon and her subjects are on the hunt for Visions of every single person residing in the walls of Inazuma, and he was one of the few who refused to have their Visions confiscated from them. It seems exiling him from his homeland was no longer sufficient and the said Archon has ordered for every so-called transgressor that they banished to be apprehended and have their Visions forcefully taken from them. It was only his luck that Beidou, and the crew she captained, has taken him under their wing and he has been sailing the seas with them since then.
Has it been months? Days? Or perhaps weeks? Being away from land with nothing but the ocean to take in and his mind seemingly always preoccupied with his doubts and worries has him losing track of time.
In all honesty, he doesn’t remember the last time he stepped on dry land. Perhaps they did, but it was not a memory that has fleeted a long time ago. All he can think about was Inazuma, the threat of being having his Vision taken, and his past he buried deep within the back of his mind.
Beidou must have taken notice of his continuous lackluster attitude and has set sail for Liyue for him to take a break from the seas. This, of course, he appreciated though he insisted Beidou that she did not have to dock just for him to clear his mind.
Back at that time Beidou claimed she knew what is best for him and she should put his trust on him, and with the lack of reasons to refute her statement, Kazuha merely let out a sigh and agreed to land in Liyue.
He has never been to Liyue, or to put it more accurately, he has never stepped foot in in the few times the Crux made their return on Liyue. It wasn’t because he hated it there, but he felt more comfortable and more at home inside the ship. The furthest he has gone was on the docks to help the crew load supplies in their next sail. But now Beidou has encouraged him to leave the ship and explore, and implied being forbidden to come aboard if he refused to do as she says.
When Beidou said she knows what is best for him, maybe she was right. He must admit, even if he was still longing to return to his homeland, Liyue had many sights and delicacies to offer. But the best and most beautiful sight he saw was up on a rooftop when he was resting from hours of mindless meandering in the streets.
He played with a green leaf that fluttered over to him after it has been carried away by the wind from its tree, and he pressed his lips against it to whistle a melody. The tune was buried under the bustle of the city night but it seems that one picked it up from the terrace just below him.
Kazuha saw a girl around his age walk out to the terrace, head moving left and right, as though looking for something. Kazuha did not think much of this behavior assuming she was searching for something else, and he tore his eyes away from her and nonchalantly continued to whistle against the leaf.
“So, that was you who was making that beautiful sound.”
Kazuha casted his gaze down to see the girl on the terrace looking up at him as she leaned against the railing with her arms crossed, a gleeful smile present on her brims. He pulled the leaf from his lips as he regarded her. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to – ”
She shook her head, chuckling. “No, no, it’s fine. You can stay there.” She assured, and Kazuha eased on his spot. She stared at the leaf in his hand. “I didn’t know you can make a tune using a leaf.”
Kazuha flashed her a small smile. “It’s something only a few can do. It’s pretty hard to master.”
“And you’re one of those few.” She remarked. Silence prevailed between the two until she spoke again. “Can you play something for me?”
Kazuha was bewildered by her request. It wasn’t common to find a foreigner sitting on the rooftop of her household. One would think that their first reaction should be an accusation of trespassing and a demand for identification, but no. This girl was different, you were different.
Kazuha did not question your request, just as you have not questioned him of his place on your rooftop. Instead, he granted your wish. He pressed the leaf against his lips and blew, a tune of his own composition sounding in the air.
He watched in awe as you raised both your hands to your chest and white particles formed above your palm, creating a shape until it formed and bloomed into an elegant wooden lyre. Without saying anything else, you strum the strings along with his tune, and the people of Liyue beneath their feet are unaware of the small haven the two of them created together.
Kazuha is more than grateful for Beidou for pushing him to go to Liyue. Ever since that night, he has made constant visits to your house. Early in the morning – that’s when Beidou would barge into the barracks and force them out of their beds – he would always be the one out of the door to finish his tasks and leave immediately to visit you, a prominent smile over his face. The crew, of course, has pestered him to tell him of the reason for his constant leaving and he could only let out a sigh of relief when Beidou shooed them away from him and asked them to return to their work. She winked at him right after and whispered, “Go and hurry to your girlfriend.” To which he denied with a shy grumble before making haste to Liyue.
Liyue was brighter than the isolationist Inazuma has become, and one of the reasons Kazuha thought this was you. The Crux was like a family to him, and Beidou was like an older sister to him, but you – he has never felt more soothed than in your presence. You felt like home, and it has been so long since he had felt like he was at home. Seeing you smile, hearing you laugh, seeing how you nod attentively as he talked, your arms embracing him when he opened up to you about his past, the music you played together in perfect harmony even without practice – it was all so surreal.
Kazuha didn’t have to tell you about his growing feelings for you. He knew that you knew.
It started with a shy kiss, and then a longer one, and the two of you found solace in each other’s arms. There was no music playing, and there were no stories shared – just him with his arms around your figure and lips connected with yours. None of you dare say it but your days together were slowly coming to an end, and it won’t be long until the day comes when he has to set sail to visit neighboring nations.
But Kazuha will always come back to you, that he promises.
After a few years of frequent visiting and writing letters to one another, Kazuha has finally decided that it was time for him to propose to you. Beidou - being the supportive big sister she is to him - upon hearing of his plan, gathered her crew to help Kazuha in his objective. Everything from food, drinks, location (they chose the ship), and atmosphere, they provided. As thanks for their dedication and help, they only ask an invitation to his wedding, to which Kazuha replied will surely come even if they did not help.
The crew claimed that they shall be far away as possible from the ship so that the two of you can have your privacy, but Kazuha, and definitely you, as well, heard loud cheering from a short distance followed by a shushing Beidou when you accepted his proposal.
“I thought they said they’d be at Wanmin Restaurant - ”
“To be honest, I didn’t really believe them.”
Unlike the other boys who were hesitant of not seeing the bride for a week until the wedding, Kazuha was actually the one to push this tradition. He disliked it as much as the other boys, but Kazuha loved being able to give you his all. Not being able to see you for a week is a sure way for him to crave for your presence, and once the two of you see each other again, he’ll pour out every love and care for you then.
You were dismayed by this whole arrangement but since it is important to Kazuha, you respected it.
The crew fought for the spot of best man, but in the end, all of them got to be best man. Kazuha did not have the heart to choose one from the crew, so he had to explain to you beforehand that the almost the entire male crew of The Crux are going to be standing with him at the ceremony.
It wasn’t a common occurrence in a wedding but you allowed it. The crew was like his family to him, and if it’s going to make him happy to have them as his best men, who are you to go against it?
At the day of the wedding, Beidou was the one to fret over Kazuha’s appearance. The Anemo user tried to calm her down but after she continually tried to fix his hair for the wedding, he just sighed and allowed her.
“I can’t believe you’re going to be married in just a few hours.” Beidou remarked in the quiet after a while. “To think you were just a teenager when we met you, and our little teenager is a big man now.”
“Nothing’s going to change. I’ll just be married.” Kazuha tried to ease her worries but he knew as well there are going to be major changes. One of being concerning his frequent endeavors with the crew. Once he gets married with you, he’d want to be with you always, to settle with you. But he was so used to the sea, to be living with the crew in a ship. Can he really get used to this coming change?
Beidou let out a sigh. She placed a hand over his head, patting him gently. She would have ruffled his hair but that would waste her effort on making it as presentable as she can.
“Things are going to change, Kazuha.” Stated Beidou, beaming. “And it’s not all bad. Trust me.”
Kazuha nodded, but he was still uneasy. He was ready to give himself to you, but at the same time, he wasn’t ready to leave the crew.
This thought haunted him even in the time of the ceremony. He should be focusing on the wedding but he couldn’t.
He needed to talk to you about this. You need to know what’s bothering him.
Was it possible to feel dread for the future while also looking forward to it?
Because it felt like a gust of wind billowed his direction when his eyes landed on you. Beautiful, you’re beautiful. What else can he say?
Was he really going to marry you? Whatever did you see in him? He was a banished Ronin from Inazuma. There must be some other man more worthy of you.
But you loved him, nobody else.
“Stop gawking at me like that. You’re making me embarrassed.” You murmured, cheeks flushed. He didn’t even notice you standing before him until you spoke.
Kazuha closed his parted lips as he turned away from you. “I . . . uh . . . ” He swallowed. “You look beautiful, ( Your Name ).”
“At least look at me when you say that, Kazu-kun.”
He looked at you, breathing in before speaking. “You look very, very . . . uh, pretty.”
You laughed a little. “You look very, very handsome, Kazuha.”
You took his hands in yours and gazed into his eyes, smiling. “Things are going to change once we get married.”
A pang of uneasiness struck Kazuha.
But what you said next shocked him.
“After this, I can finally be part of the crew and join you on your adventures in the sea!”
Kazuha gawked at you again, blinking.
Everyone invited to his wedding gasped when Kazuha suddenly kissed you out of nowhere in the middle of the ceremony.
Beidou, and the rest of the crew, however, cheered loudly for the two of you.
After the wedding, Kazuha snuck away from the reception for a while. He found a tree from a short distance and sat on the branch, breathing in the cool evening air.
He caught a fluttering leaf and smiled as he gazed at it and recalled how the two of you met.
Things will change, and soon, he’ll be adventuring with his wife in the vast ocean. Oh, he has so many things to show you.

Hi so can I request for a Basilio and/or Crispin x reader please? Like maybe how they met or something, platonic or romantic, either is fine. Thanks!
Tumblr media
gif credits (@overlordofawesomeness) see their post here
how they met you headcanons: crispin, basilio (trese)
a/n: no specific ethnicity for the reader, but it is mostly assumed that the reader is of pinoy descent; I hope you all enjoy this, pls don't hesitate to add more! <3
crispin
okay so i imagine that mr. more-serious-than-his-younger-brother crispin has not really grown up to be a hopeless romantic
didn’t date, didn’t think that love is real (“it’s cheesy”/“baduy naman”), so finding his one true love hit him like a ton of bricks
sees you for the first time while working on a case with bossing, you live next to the house of the victims
really found you cute, but he didn’t get the chance to approach you because you had slammed the gates closed in front of him
he sees you again completely by accident during another case, and crispin was so surprised and thankful
he keeps trying to make eye contact with you, while you are trying not to make eye contact with the tall, muscular man who is wearing a dark suit
he finally asks you out, and you at first freak out, somehow convinced that this man is a part of a gang or is some scary rich dude who is the future ceo of his dad’s company or something
to your surprise, he picks you up (still dressed in a suit) but brings you to a small family restaurant--almost a carenderia
it is so amusing to find him so overdressed during the date, but it is a nice dinner and you two have fun talking and getting to know each other
he is so cute when asking if you wanted to hang out again, and when you say yes, he smiles so brightly
you get streetfood the next time you hang out!
at this point, crispin kinda already knows about your life story, but you still dont know his
he seems to be a little closed off about the topic, but you dont push him
crispin is gone from time to time, only texting you sporadically, but you dont question it even though you are curious, because you trust him and you may be just a tiny lil bit infatuated
when he does tell you everything about him, he prefaces it so seriously and grimly that you think he will say he doesn't want to see you anymore
instead, he sullenly tells you about his life, ending with an apology for not telling you sooner
"i was just so scared you would run away"
you tell him that you wont run away and surprise him when you throw your arms around him and kiss him
he is honestly so whipped for you oh my god
if crispin is free, he will always drop you off and pick you up from school/work
he brings you to meet his family, basilio, alexandra, hank
they accept you as part of the family, and you immerse yourself in their library, reading up information about their lives
whenever they finish a case, you would be there, having cooked nice, warm meals for them
crispin would come up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist, resting his chin on your shoulder
he would whisper, "thank you for taking care of us" and presses kisses on your cheek down to your neck
you dont go out with them on a case, even if you want to (you and crispin fight over this, but he simply insists that he cannot lose you or even see you hurt)
he keeps his words of affirmation and affections as private as possible
basilio and hank tease him a lot if he tries to show any affection towards you with them present, and it bothers him at first
but you just laugh it off, ignoring the "uyyy" and other teasing remarks
basilio laughs when he sees his twin relaxing against you on the couch, crispin's head laid on your lap, "who's cheesy now?"
to this, crispin laughs before looking up at you and kissing your hand
he whispers "i love you against your skin"
i would say that compared to basilio and his s/o's relationship, your relationship with crispin is a lot more serious, more mature
kinda have the husband-and-wife vibe even though you aren't married yet (but you both know that this will happen eventually)
crispin knows that you are the one, and is hell bent on keeping you happy and safe
secretly looks up "perfect proposal ideas" when he realizes one night just how much he loves you
always has you in his arms when you're asleep, the sound of your heartbeat, and the feeling of your breath against his skin reminding him just what he is fighting and living for
he is fighting and living for you, and the future you two are going to share
basilio
the younger and more mischievous of the two, it didn't surprise everyone that basilio is the last person to realize his love for you
he met you shortly after being adopted by carlos trese, you were a family friend and possibly another babaylan from another city/province
came to the treses for a visit and was surprised to see new members of the family
you bonded with the twins almost instantaneously, becoming best friends with them
although everyone could see that you were closer to basilio than you were to crispin, mostly because of basilio's more laid back personality
absolutely thick as thieves with him, to a point where crispin would sulk and complain that you were stealing his lil brother from him
you would all play games until you were downright exhausted, from playing house, hide-and-seek, patintero (you try not to play catch with them bc you know they're gonna use their powers anyway) and the sad days were when you had to leave
you once had a tantrum as you clung to basilio, begging him to hide you from your parents so that they wouldn't bring you home
crispin and Alexandra had to pry you away from him, and he didn't talk to them for like 2 days after you left
as you two grew older, the games lessened and you focused more on training and battle strategies
but the closeness never left
you also kinda know that basilio cares for you, and to be honest, you wouldn't say no if he ever asks you out, but he never did and that's ok
outside of his family, you are his best friend and he loves you just as much as he loves his brother and sister
but it was obvious to alexandra and crispin that when you got older, something changed in the way basilio looked at you
he kinda looks at you just a little bit longer than usual, simple touches linger here and there, the slight overprotectiveness, the little acts of love
he brings you food ("we stopped by the carenderia and they had your favorite ulam")
brings you flowers ("where did you find these arabian jasmines/sampaguita?" basilio shrugs, "bought them on the way home." "he plucked them from aling josie's garden," Alexandra tells you as she walks past the two of you)
crispin tries to tell basilio that he should definitely ask you out, because it's so clearly obvious that you both like each other, but basilio tries to deny it
"torete ka bro, please just go ahead and tell her how you feel"
and basilio kinda sits on the idea, like literally has an existential crisis trying to figure out if he loves you romantically or just platonically
so he tries to imagine his future
he doesn't think much of it, thinking that this world is going to consume him long before he would have the chance to build a life anyway, but amidst the thought of death, he sees something
just a flash of light and sounds of laughter
it's you, carrying a young girl as you smile at him, standing just in front of the gate
and basilio thinks, that's such a nice vision, coming home to you
whenever he thinks of possibly settling down and having a family, it has always been with you
it has always been with you since you were kids, and now it's still you
so when he tells you he loves you during the most inappropriate time (fighting off aswang kidnappers), you grin at him and yell "I love you too!" back
and he removes his mask for a second before clarifying, "no y/n, I am in love with you!"
you grin at him again before exclaiming, "I know! i loved you since we were like 10"
after the fight, he doesn't hesitate to bring you into his arms and kiss you
you kissed his cheek when you were kissed, absolutely out of curiosity, and you were both like "ewww that's gross" but now it's not
it was perfect, like it was meant to be
unlike crispin and his s/o, you two are pretty chill about your relationship, kinda lowkey with it too
you don't talk about marriage (yet), and ppl who see you just think you two are either together, or just very best friends
you two are comfortable with each other and know each other from the inside out
the times where his cheerful personality changes is when it involves your safety, then he becomes so much like his brother, stoic and almost scary
will not ever compromise your safety over anything
basilio grew up with you, and now he plans to grow old with you

Hi Katrin! In reference to your previous ask about Ciels final smile of Kuroshitsuji 1, I just have to ask - why do you think Ciel is unhappy in his final moments?
I think I mentioned it a long while back in an ask I sent you (where I just dumped my ramblings about book of murder in your inbox - once again, sorry about that!) but Sebastian leaving Ciel in Paris didn't feel like a rejection to me.
Of course he senses the doubts Ciel clearly has about throwing his life away and I think misunderstands it. I don't think Ciel was second-guessing his revenge, but perhaps his readiness to die.
When Sebastian leaves him, he doesn't seem angry - that much is clear. Instead, he wishes him to "forget everything and have pleasant dreams", with a rather wistful expression on his face. And what this line ends up reading as is a bittersweet goodbye from the demon - an offering for Ciel to let go of his revenge and find happiness in the afterlife with his now soon approaching death.
I think he is disappointed because at some point he started to stop holding Ciel to human standards as he would everything else, but I also don't think he's resentful of it. Ciel is human and he can't keep expecting him not to be, so it was perhaps his fault for doing so.
Not wanting to die doesn't seem like something that would suddenly make Ciel's soul undesirable to Sebastian, so there must be another reason for him to let it go. He cannot offer Ciel life, since he knows that death is readily approaching him, but he can offer him an afterlife.
This offering almost acts as a thank you for the moments of excitement their contract had given his monotone life and I believe that is why he makes it.
He sticks around to see if Ciel accepts his offer, though already expecting him to, and is there to witness the very moment the boy rejects it. Gone is the uncertainty of Abberline's death and the Paris crisis, and Ciel, the Earl of Phantomhive, returns to him - sharper, colder, more ruthless than ever. Sebastian realises his misjudgement and returns to his side, ready for the final battle. Killing an angel. It's laughably symbolic.
I think it is at some point during this battle that Ciel fully acknowledges his feelings towards Sebastian. I completely agree with you - completing his revenge did not fulfil him. I don't think he felt victorious or triumphant from it, or even the satisfaction he might have expected from it. Like you said, he probably realises how wasted his life was in pursuing such a fate, but still understands that it was the only path he would've accepted, being who he was.
But that isn't to say he was unhappy. Just because it wasn't revenge that gave him fulfilment doesn't mean he didn't find it elsewhere. The smile he gives Sebastian doesn't read to me as bitter or condescending, but actually seems quite peaceful. And the reason for that, I think, is that he doesn't fear dying by Sebastian's hand.
Those same reddened eyes and fanged smile would be the last thing he sees – and was that really such a bad way to go? He knew how and when and by whose hands he was going to die, and not everyone could say the same. What's more, at this point, I'm pretty sure he would've realised what he was feeling for Sebastian, so I don't think he would be resentful for dying at the hands of someone he loved.
Sebastian, for him, had always represented the end. And a beautiful end at that. That's why the smile seemed peaceful to me.
He lets go of the bridge. Initially, I assumed it was a mixture of blood loss and a symbolic decision to let go of life and surrender himself to Sebastian, but from your analysis I actually think your idea about him wanting a final act of rebellion is wonderful. All Ciel really wanted was to be remembered by Sebastian, so why not send him one last gift? Let him have one last surprise before it's all over. Die on his own terms - it's a beautiful idea.
He dies in mid-air. We see the exact moment Ciel Phantomhive dies and exact moment his cinematic record blossoms from his lifeless body when the blood loss finally takes him.
It's a beautiful scene, regardless of how you analyse it and I absolutely love hearing everyone's interpretations of it since they're all so different from one another. Reading your analysis in this ask was particularly wonderful to me because it was such a different take from what I was used to. I tjust hought I'd share my view on the scene so I could hear more of your thoughts on the matter. Whether it's in literature or media, watching how the tone of a scene can change as the angle from which it is interpreted switches is perhaps one of the most interesting things you can do.
(My post about Sebastian leaving Ciel in S1 & London Bridge scene for those who are interested).
Thank you for this, I really love your asks, comments, and thoughts! I agree that Sebastian leaving Ciel in S1 wasn't a rejection - I think he was resentful to an extent (he sends Ciel several very dark looks when Ciel stops him from killing the Queen and when they are riding to the hotel), and personally, I see a mix of feelings when he's watching Ciel from afar later. He's quiet and thoughtful, and I think there is a storm of conflicting feelings brewing inside him. I particularly love your words about Sebastian being willing to give Ciel an afterlife.
As for how Ciel takes it... I think he's grimly determined to see everything through. I agree that he fully acknowledges his feelings for Sebastian at this point; I also think Ciel realizes he loves him at the very end of S1, seconds before Sebastian leans closer to take his soul. I imagine the entire life flashing right before Ciel's eyes, his adrenaline spreading through him chaotically and clearing his head in a way he's never experienced before. His reservations, stubbornness, reluctance to succumb to emotions - it's all going to lose its meaning because this is it. In a few seconds, he won't just be dead - he won't exist. I think Ciel is going to see everything with startling clarity, and he'll realize, "Oh. I love you," but of course he won't say it aloud.
I agree Ciel sees the beauty and the peace in being consumed by Sebastian, but at the same time, I see misery in him in those later moments. Sorry, I can't share gifs or even good pics right now, but here are some screens to illustrate what I mean:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think he looks like in his darkest and saddest moments here. There is sorrow, bitterness, hopelessness in his eyes - he won, but it doesn't feel like it. Ciel always knew he was going to die and Sebastian was going to devour his soul, but now he is being proven right, it is finally happening, and I think he has mixed feelings on this. During their time together, he learned to enjoy life in his way. He enjoyed their games, being challenged, solving puzzles. He always knew it's temporary, but knowing and seeing it are two different things, and I don't think Ciel is as willing to die as he was before. The way he's startled when the Undertaker tell him he's going to die anyway even without Sebastian in the picture, Ciel's sudden burst of emotion when he tells Abberline that he had forfeited his future, his behavior afterward, how he was delaying the conclusion of their contract by holding Sebastian back - I think Ciel was re-assessing things.
Tumblr media
This one breaks my heart in particular. In this specific moment, I don't think Ciel doesn't want to die in general, but he doesn't want to leave Sebastian. He's staring at him with emotions he never allowed himself to feel - he's ready, but he's wistful. He wishes things could have been different in some other world, that his book could have another ending, but he knows there is no place for what ifs in his life.

Imagine Gaara comforting you when the depression and anxiety hit
Trigger Warnings: Depression, Anxiety, Swearing(?)
A/N: Hey y’all! This is my first post on this blog. I hope you all enjoy it <3 Please don’t copy any of my works. It’s all originally written and I put a lot of time and effort into my pieces. Please ask me before reposting.
————————-
You were curled up in bed staring into nothingness. The past week or two you’ve tried to keep it at bay, but you felt the ever lingering depression creeping its way in. Nothing in particular happened. It was just always there. There wasn’t a time you could remember it not being there. Sometimes it was muffled like background noise and other times the volume was turned up so loud it was the only thing you could hear. It was your constant companion following you like a shadow. And to top it all off, anxiety was right behind it. You thought about overthinking and overthought about thinking. Racing thoughts kept you up sometimes until the sun shone through the blinds.
Everyone wondered why you were so quiet at times, but they couldn’t hear the ass beating you were getting from your own mind that made it almost impossible to be in the present moment. Nor could you find the energy, the language, nor a fuck to give to even begin to explain the war going on inside you. Temari invited you out to what you thought would be a small kickback yesterday that ended up being a full blown party. Gaara, who was supposed to go with you, was inevitably called in for village business. You ended up socially tapped after just a few hours in. Although Temari was with you and you met up with some chill friends . . Although you were surrounded by people, you still felt completely alone. Although you heard the words coming out of their mouths, you couldn’t keep up with what they were saying. Although you were physically there, you weren’t there. You wanted so badly to just enjoy yourself like everyone else, but it was what it was. After pleading with your sister in law, you finally went home only to find that Gaara was still in the office. One final push that sent you
Spiraling
down
And there you were exhausted but painfully awake in the darkness of your shared room. You didn’t know how long you were lying there. There was no time, only the bottomless ocean that swallowed anything and everything you tried to drop into it. No amount of journaling, affirmations, meditation, prayer, movement, walking, entertainment, pet cuddling, food, water, medication, vitamins, herbs, epsom salt baths, incense, face masks or any of the methods you’ve tried felt tangible to you in that moment. What was the point when you didn’t even have the will to move? How could you think of going on a mission next week when you couldn’t guarantee you’d attempt to leave your room tomorrow? How were you going to take care of your hair if you couldn’t even braid, twist or put it up for the night? How could you call yourself a caring friend when you’re thinking about canceling the dinner you’ve already rescheduled twice?
“My love? Why are you still awake?”
Your husband’s soothing voice jolted you out of your inner dialogue. You hadn’t even heard him come in, too lost in the wall in front of you.
“ . . . Can’t sleep.”
You heard the sound of the door closing and hushed shuffling as he moved around the room. A few moments later, you felt his weight dip the mattress beside you. A warm arm wrapped around your middle, gently pulling you to his chest. His hand moved to intertwine with yours as he spooned you from behind.
“How did it go with Temari? Again I’m sorry I wasn’t able to go with you. I hope you had a good time.”
“It’s fine. It was fine.” you replied flatly.
Gaara caressed the back of your thumb with his own as silence filled the space between you. His lips met the skin of your shoulder and you felt your body gradually relax into his embrace. He was never one to push you when you weren’t ready to talk and always made you feel grounded back to earth with his very presence. Even amidst his many responsibilities as Kazekage, he always made sure to check in on you and provide whatever you may want or need. He would do anything for you if it meant you would feel loved, safe, balanced and happy. Gaara, sweet Gaara, was the love of your lifetimes and you, his. He knew you better than he knew himself and picked up on every detail. Your likes and dislikes. How you took your tea in the morning. Your sensitivities. Every expression. Your body language. The tone in your voice. The slightest change in your eyes. So it was no surprise that he picked up on the shift in your mood right away.
“(y/n) . . . Sweetheart, It’s alright if you don’t want to talk about it right now, but please know that I am here. I love you more than words can express. I am here to listen and support you in any way that I can. I always will be. You know that, right?”
And with that, you couldn’t stop the tears from flowing. Your body trembled as he maneuvered you to face him. He wrapped his arms firmly around you, cocooning you into the safety of his hold. You buried your face into his chest and the calming scent of earth and cinnamon enveloped your senses. Your tears and running nose wetted the shirt he wore, but he didn’t care. Soft kisses were pressed to the crown of your head as his fingers trailed up and down the length of your spine, occasionally drawing soothing circles. You turned your head to listen to the steady rhythm of his heart pressed against you before finally catching your breath to speak.
“I-I’m just so tired of fighting just to be okay all the time. I’ve been taking steps to take care of my mental health, but it still feels like it isn’t enough. It’s like one day I’m fine and a couple days later it feels like I’m back at square one. I just want to exist sometimes. No expectations. I don’t want to think. I don’t want to feel. I don’t want to do anything. I don’t want to be anything. I just want to be.”
He squeezed you gently at your words, pausing thoughtfully before responding.
“You once told me that your dream is to become the peace within and despite the chaos inside of you. The chaos all around us. You said that you wish to heal yourself and pass on healing to others. I know it is easy to lose sight of it when you’re in the midst of what feels like a never ending battle, but I wanted to remind you of it because I never want you to lose hope.”
Your eyes widened in shock and turned glassy as he continued on.
“You have brought me out of the depths of the greatest despair and have played a huge role in supporting me in healing from my past. Your love is medicine to my heart. There were times when I was lost that you reminded me to never lose sight of my dream. To never lose sight of what truly matters. Even in the most difficult times, you have always found hope where others have felt hopeless. That is one of the many reasons I love you. I am your husband, so let me be your strength when you are tired and feel you can’t go on because you are my strength, dear wife. We can get through this together. Remember that healing is a lifelong journey, not a destination. So take it one day at a time. Hour by hour or minute by minute if that’s what it takes. You’re so hard on yourself sometimes, but look how far you’ve come to be here. Right now. How much you’ve grown. I want you to know that I am so proud of you, sweetheart. I hope that you can come to be proud of your accomplishments too.”
A fresh wave of tears came over you, but for a completely different reason this time. You practically tackled your poor mans onto his back and your lips met in an intense yet equally loving kiss. His hands worshipped the expanse of your hips and time fell away. Vibrations hummed throughout your body as you pulled back to look into those seafoam green eyes. His red hair and pale complexion highlighted by the light of the moon peeking through the window. He was ethereal.
“I love you, Gaara. So much. I am so happy that you exist. Honestly when you speak so openly and directly like that I feel like my heart is gonna burst through my chest . . . fuckkkk. In a good way though! But seriously, thank you for being you. I never thought I’d be able to say this to someone without fear, but . . when I am with you, I know that I am home. You are my home, love. ”
His eyes softened before a huge grin spread across his now blushing features. Gaara didn’t smile often, but when he did it was a sight to behold. It was like feeling the warmth of a sunrise for the first time. An all encompassing glow.
He sat up and cupped both of your cheeks in his hands, tears now mirroring your own. “I couldn’t have put it better myself. Do you know how beautiful you are? Truly? Your beauty radiates from the inside out. Honestly, what have I done to deserve you?”
“Sir, have you taken a good look at yourself lately? That’s my line. Fight me. Right now.” you deadpanned playfully.
A look of genuine concern crossed over his face. His hands settled on your waist and his posture noticeably drooped.
“(y/n), I would never fight you.”
“ . . . Gaara, I was just joking. I know you wouldn’t.”
“Sarcasm?”
“Mhm.”
“ . . . Right. I should have known. I’ll do better next time.” he sighed dejectedly.
Your body shook with laughter at your man’s adorably serious face. He’s always trying his best. Only Gaara could go from holding space through your tears of sadness, to making you cry from happiness, to having you doubled over with laughter within a matter of moments just by being authentically himself.
“I love you so fucking much, my sweet Gaara.”
“And I, you. My beautiful (y/n).”
You both slept soundly that night in a tangle of limbs, not knowing where one ended or the other began. Two, who together, are one.

Wrote up the full summaries of how the games would play out in OR/AS admin AU, warning for a very long post under the cut! For a bunch of other general HC’s about the AU, check out this post!
Alpha Sapphire;
-The game remains the same all the way up until the visit to the oceanic museum. When confronted with the two grunts who serve as the battle there, they explain the plans of the team.
They mention that they want to expand the oceans for the good of Pokémon, for all live comes from the sea. One begins to mention how the boss explained to them to them how humans are corrupting it and how their team will undo that damage. The other grunt begins to agree, mentioning how this will be for the good of all Pokémon. They then ask you to let them take the parts to complete their mission. When the player shakes their head, the regular battle begins.
Once the grunts are defeated, Maxie enters the stage, glaring and yelling at them to leave if they can’t even defeat a mere child. Once they leave, he stands there for a moment in silence, before muttering ’’ ’Undoing the damage’? … ’The good of all Pokémon’? They don’t know what that means at all, the fools….“
He then walks up to you to glare at you and tell you off. He warns you that he will let you go for now, but that he won’t let you drag out ’the end to this’, and that if you try to get in their way again he’ll deal with you himself. After this, he and the rest of team Aqua leave the museum.
The entire time Maxie is on screen a Numel follows him around, and it will continue to do so any future times he appears. He will never use it in battle.
-The player encounters team Aqua again at Meteor Falls. Here they find Shelly and a grunt and the player battles Shelly, while their rival battles the grunt. After winning their respective battles, Shelly mentions their activity at Mt. Chimney. Due to their not being a rival team, they end up grabbing the meteorite from the professor without much trouble before heading off.
-At Mt. Chimney, since there is no opposing team, there are no battles happening with other members, merely the grunts standing guard and fighting anyone attempting to stop them.
After battling trough them, the player finds Shelly, Maxie and Archie all at the center of the volcano.
Here Shelly challenges the player like usual. After beating her, the player continues on to find Archie and Maxie standing around the machine attempting to transform the meteorite into a Mega Stone. Archie introduces himself to the player, laughing about how he’s already heard much about you and your habit of getting in the way of the team. Maxie remains mostly quiet throughout his speech, mainly just glaring at the player. Archie finishes his speech off saying he likes your spunk, but that he’s still the leader and this will have to be the end of your nonsense.  After this, Maxie steps forward, saying you will be facing the both of them. At this point, the rival runs in, saying they will help you.  Here the double battle against Archie and Maxie begins.
The player cannot win this battle. After getting defeated, Archie laughs and once again compliments you on your spirit, saying you’ll be able to go far with that attitude. Maxie merely shakes his head and once again tells you off, saying he warned you not to get in their way again.
Archie then goes back to finish transforming the meteorite with the machine, before Matt calls, letting them know about the orbs. He then decide to change their plans to head to Mt. Pyre instead, and gives you the meteorite.  After this, Archie leaves with the rest of team Aqua, only Maxie staying behind a bit longer. When talking to him, he asks you how you could possibly hope to stop them when you can’t even defeat them without them using mega evolution. He then goes quiet for a moment, before saying that ‘It’s hopeless’ and leaving as well.
-The scene with Latias and Matt plays out the same as in the original game.
-At the Weather Institute, when Shelly has her crisis over if the goals of their team will result in disaster, she mentions Maxie having warned Archie about this possible outcome and wonders if he was right.
After this, she questions why if he knew what would happen to the world after they awaken the ancient Pokémon he’d continue to work with them. Being upset about both what she learned and about not being able to understand Maxies motivations, she battles the player. After losing she leaves the area, mentioning she is going to talk to Maxie at Mt. Pyre.
-At Mt. Pyre, the player encounters Shelly and Maxie arguing on the stairs leading up to the top.
She questions why he didn’t tell them all about the dangers Kyogre comes with before, and he tells her he tried but Archie never listened. When Shelly asks him why he then continued to support him, he goes quiet for a while. Eventually he explains that Archie still would have been able to awaken Kyogre even without his support and that the awakening of it would have been inevitable either way. He then mentions that if the world is going to end up flooded over no matter what he does, he rather stay with his partner until the end. Shelly yells at him saying he’s lost his mind and to let her talk to Archie. He blocks her way, and she ends up leaving.
After this, the player walks up to Maxie. He asks them what they heard of that conversation, and then laughs sadly, saying that it must be incomprehensible to a child. He tells them that soon enough this world will return to the beginning of all- and the end of all that is currently. He explains that he tried to talk Archie out of it for years, having warned him of the risks over and over. He then says Archie never listened to him at all and wonders if Archie knew all along. Stating that it doesn’t matter now anymore, for all of this will be over soon, he tells the player that they will never truly be able to stop Archie either- after all, neither could he. He says that all they will be able to do is prolong this by a couple of days, a week or two at most- and that he’s grown tired of having to work towards the end of the world. He wants things over with by now- thus, he cannot let you delay things. Here he challenges the player.
After the player wins, he seems shocked. After staring at them in surprise for a while, he realises the player might actually have a chance at stopping the team for good. Not wanting to get his hopes up yet, he instead leaves them with a challenge- next time they cross paths, if they are able to beat him and Archie in battle together, he will assist them in stopping team Aqua.
Finally, he gestures towards the Numel at his side, who he introduces as a Pokémon he’s been with since he was a child. He explains that he doesn’t want to put it in danger any longer and asks you to care for it. He gives you Numel (if the players party is full, it will go to a box instead). Numel is level 10, won’t gain exp, you cannot change it’s name and you cannot change it moveset. It carries a soothe bell, which cannot be taken from it. If the player attempts to do any of the above a message pops up saying ‚That seems rude to do…’
Maxie then heals your Pokémon, tells you to be safe, and leaves.
At the top, Archie and Matt are taking the orbs. Matt stalls the player while Archie leaves with the orb to get the submarine in Slateport.
-At Slateport, the player finds Archie, Maxie and Shelly. Shelly appears to be talking to Archie about the risks of their plans with him mostly being dismissive about it and telling her not to worry so much, mentioning him being sad she doesn’t understand his plans. Maxie is standing aside quietly. The player then interrupts them.
After Archie tells the player to head to their hideout in Lilycove, he and the two admins leave with the submarine.
-At the hideout, Matt stalls the player as usual while Archie and Maxie head to the Seafloor Cavern.
-At the Seafloor Cavern, Archie and Maxie await the player at the center. Archie congratulates them for following him all the way here, and mentions that he is finally about to obtain the ancient power of Kyogre to reset the world and undo all the damage humanity has done. After his speech, Maxie tells him they should take the player on together, using their full power- including mega evolution for Archie. Archie agrees, and the double battle against them begins.
After winning, both Archie and Maxie seem amazed. Archie congratulates you on being a proper hero, but tells you it means nothing and that he will awaken Kyogre anyhow. Maxie tells him to stop and once again explains the dangers, saying this won’t create the world he wants. Archie seems saddened by him refusing to stand by him in those final moments and says that the only one who he can truly depend on is Kyogre before awakening it.
Shelly enters the scene just in time to see it awaken after having come down there on her own with diving gear and dive on one of her own Pokémon. Both her and Maxie watch in horror as Kyogre awakens and leaves for the surface.
As Matt calls to let them to let them know the situation on the surface, both Maxie and Shelly yell at Archie that the world is doomed now, and leave together with the player, saying they will do whatever they can to help stop Kyogre.
Eventually, when they are all on the surface again, Maxie mentions that Kyogre is currently probably planning on heading towards the Cave of Origin and that they must follow it there to stop it. Shelly leaves to go recruit the members of team Aqua to help.
As Archie watches the rainfall around him, starting to realise this truly wasn’t what he wanted, Maxie calls to him, asking if he’ll help them stop Kyogre. Archie seems unsure at first, mentioning that he already screwed things up too much, but Maxie yells at him that he was the one always saying ‚the nonsense pirate stuff about how a captain should never abandon his ship’ and Archie ends up agreeing to come along.
Archie apologises to the player for letting things get so out of hand and asks them to come help them at Sootopolis. After this, Maxie steps forward as well, also offering his apologies for not helping the player and failing to recognise their potential until it was too late.
Archie mentions that team Aqua will need them both there to lead the charge on Kyogre in this chaos, and they both leave.
-At Sootopolis Archie, Maxie and Shelly are waiting. Shelly hands over the Aqua Suit to the player, apologising for making them do all the hard work, but as the strongest one there and the bearer of the Red Orb, the player is the only one who stands a chance against Kyogre.
When the player heads in to fight the legendary Pokémon, Maxie mentions that team Aqua is currently instructed to help all Pokémon and people and to protect them from the current disaster.
Archie remains quiet until the end, before begging the player to save them, and apologising again.
-After defeating/capturing Kyogre, the player heads to the surface again where Archie, Maxie and Shelly are watching the power flowing out of the Cave of Origin undo the damage from Kyogre’s flood. Maxie is talking to Archie, saying that he should have tried harder to stop him so they could have avoided all of this and apologises for giving up on his hope for the future. Archie thanks him for sticking by him through it all, and apologises for not listening to reason while he had the chance. He asks Maxie if he still wishes to stay with him even if he messed up so badly already. Maxie laughs, mentioning Archie will need someone there to help him pick up the pieces and restore the damage they’ve done.
Shelly steps into the conversation, saying that Archie will always be team Aqua’s leader and that they’re all there for him as his friends.
Archie then heads up to the player, thanks them for everything and hands them the blue orb. He tells them team Aqua will still be working towards a better world for Pokémon- but in a way that won’t damage anyone else. After that, he tells the player they’ll always be welcome at their base and he, Maxie and Shelly leave.
-If the player visits the Aqua base later with Numel in their party, it will return to Maxie. He thanks you for keeping it safe, and hands you the Cameruptite.
Omega Ruby;
-The game remains the same all the way up until the visit to the oceanic museum. Here, the two grunts who serve as the battle there challenge the player to try and get the parts from them. When they lose, they first get upset, and refuse to leave. Then Archie enters the stage, laughing, and tells them they should accept defeat with a little more honor. Sending the grunts off, he walks up to the player with a gentle smile, and congratulates them on being brave enough to stand up to them.
He then explains the goals of the team to the player. He mentions that they wish to expand the land for the good of humanity, allowing them to further grow and evolve. He goes quiet for a moment, before laughing again, and asking the player if they think that sounds like nonsense. He then shakes his head, and mentions that Maxie would be able to make it sound more convincing, before further explaining that Maxie is the teams leader.
He ends his talk with the player by telling them that he’s here to help Maxie and that if they continue to get in their way, he’ll have to get more serious about stopping them. After this, he leaves, taking all remaining Magma grunts with him.
-The player encounters team Magma again at Meteor Falls. Here they find Tabitha and a grunt and the player battles Tabitha, while their rival battles the grunt. After winning their respective battles, Tabitha mentions their activity at Mt. Chimney. Due to their not being a rival team, they end up grabbing the meteorite from the professor without much trouble before heading off.
-At Mt. Chimney, since there is no opposing team, there are no battles happening with other members, merely the grunts standing guard and fighting anyone attempting to stop them.
After battling trough them, the player finds Tabitha, Maxie and Archie all at the center of the volcano.
Here Tabitha challenges the player like usual. After beating him, the player continues on to find Archie and Maxie standing around the machine attempting to transform the meteorite into a Mega Stone.
Maxie introduces himself to the player, asking him who they might be. Archie interjects, mentioning that you were the child who caused trouble for the team back at the museum. Maxie seems amused, before deciding you seem worthy of the information of what they’re doing, and explaining the machine they wish to use on the Meteorite to the player. After this, he tells you that if you wish to challenge them, you will have to face both him and Archie here. However, if you wish to leave, he’ll let you go unharmed. The player doubles down, accepting his challenge. Here the double battle against Archie and Maxie begins.
The player cannot win this battle. After getting defeated, Maxie laughs, seeming fairly relaxed. He congratulates the player on their bravery, but warns them that it could get them into trouble if they keep poking their nose into team Magma’s business like this. Archie adds a ‚Sorry scamp, ya did yer best.’ of his own.  Maxie then goes back to finish transforming the meteorite with the machine, before Courtney calls, letting them know about the orbs. He then decide to change their plans to head to Mt. Pyre instead, and gives you the meteorite. After this, Maxie leaves with the rest of team Magma, only Archie staying behind a bit longer. He stares at the player with a sad smile for a moment, before shaking his head and also leaving the area.
-The scene with Latios and Courtney plays out the same as in the original game.
-At the Weather Institute, Tabitha has his crisis over if the goals of their team will result in disaster. He mentions knowing Archie asked about a possible outcome like this once or twice, and says he needs to go to discuss this with him immediately.
Being upset about both what he learned and about worrying if Archie knew about this, he battles the player. After losing he leaves the area, mentioning he is going to talk to Archie at Mt. Pyre.
-At Mt. Pyre, the player encounters Tabitha arguing with Archie on the stairs leading up to the top.
Tabitha is questioning him why Archie isn’t more alarmed about the potential risks even though he says he believes Tabitha about them. Archie shakes his head, saying that he wants to trust Maxie.
Tabitha continues to try and argue, but when he gets no response he instead yells at Archie to let him talk to Maxie. Archie however blocks Tabithas way, and Tabitha ends up leaving.
After this, the player walks up to Archie. He asks them what they heard of that conversation and then laughs sadly, saying that it must seem weird to a wee scamp such as yourself.
He closes his eyes, thinking in silence for a moment. Then he opens them again, giving a sad smile to the player. He asks them what they would do, if the person they love the most is about to do something very stupid seeming to them- but they know it’s important to that person, and they know that person only has good intentions and only wants to help. He asks if they think that would be worth fighting against them and losing them over.
When the player doesn’t answer, he laughs again and apologising for asking such weird things. He tells them he wants to believe in Maxie, but that he knows the chances of it actually ending well are slim.
After thinking for a few moments longer, he apologises again, saying he still has a job to do and challenges the player.
After the player wins, he seems surprised, but relieved. He tells them that he’ll still be on Maxie’s side until the end, but that he wouldn’t mind the player trying to stop them, saying that’d it’d be reassuring to have someone strong such as yourself there if things truly were to go wrong. He then heals your Pokémon, tells you to be safe. and leaves.
At the top, Maxie and Courtney are taking the orbs. Courtney stalls the player while Maxie leaves with the orb to get the submarine.
-At Slateport, the player finds Maxie, Archie and Tabitha. Tabitha appears to be talking to Maxie about the risks of their plans with him mostly seeming annoyed, mentioning being upset at Tabitha questioning the good of their plans so late into things. Archie is quiet, looking down. The player then interrupts them.
After Maxie tells the player to head to their hideout in Lilycove, he and the two admins leave with the submarine.
-At the hideout, Courtney stalls the player as usual while Maxie and Archie head to the Seafloor Cavern.
-At the Seafloor Cavern, Maxie and Archie await the player at the center. Maxie laughs at seeing the player having followed them all the way here, albeit in a fairly calm tone. He tells them that now he finally has all pieces in place to raise Groudon and allow humanity to prosper and reach new heights. Smiling at the player, he tells them he’s glad to show them this moment in history and says their concern is unneeded.
When the player steps up to stop him anyhow, he mentions being a little saddened by their inability to understand his intentions, but that he will honor them with the best battle he can give instead, using their full power- including mega evolution for Maxie. Archie agrees, and the double battle against them begins.
After winning, Maxie and Archie seem amazed. Maxie seems a little distressed after, while Archie almost looks relieved. Maxie then says his ideals cannot be shaken this easily and that for the sake of humanity, he must continue on with reviving Groudon. Archie nods, apologising to the player that their victory didn’t mean much, but asking them to stand by just in case. He laughs, mentioning that that’s a fairly egotistical thing to ask of him considering he hasn’t helped the player at all, and once again says sorry. Tabitha enters the scene, dragging Shelly along, saying he asked a friend of Archie’s to help him get down here using the diving gear. He yells at Maxie to stop this, but is too late and Groudon awakens. He watches in Horror as Groudon leaves for the surface.
As Courtney calls to let them know the situation on the surface, Tabitha yells at Maxie and Archie that the world is doomed now, and asks the player to come with him to help stop Groudon. Archie stares at the ground, while Maxie seems devastated.
Eventually, when they are all on the surface again, Archie mentions that Groudon is currently probably planning on heading towards the Cave of Origin and that they must follow it there to stop it. Tabitha leaves to go recruit the members of team Magma to help.
As Maxie watches the sky burn, starting to realise this wasn’t the dream he had in mind at all, Archie calls to him, asking him what he wants to do now. Maxie seems unsure at first, mentioning that he already messed things up far too greatly. Archie walks up to him and puts his forehead against Maxie’s, saying that all they can do now is try their hardest to fix the mess they caused. After a moment in silence, Maxie agrees to come along. Archie turns to the player, giving another sad laugh, saying that he has been apologising to them a lot this journey, and that it seems like he’s going to have to again. Maxie stops him however, saying this is his responsibility and apologises to the player instead. He then turns to Archie and apologises to him as well, thanking him for not him.
Maxie then mentions that team Magma will need them both there to lead the attack on Groudon in this chaos, and they both leave.
-At Sootopolis Maxie, Archie and Tabitha are waiting. Tabitha hands over the Magma Suit to the player and mentions that their fate is in your hands now. Archie explains that while they’d rather not force this responsibility onto the player, as the strongest one there  and the bearer of the Blue Orb, the player is the only one who stands a chance against Groudon.
When the player heads in to fight the legendary Pokémon, Archie mentions that team Magma is currently instructed to help all people and Pokémon and to protect them from the current disaster.
Maxie remains quiet, before addressing the player as child, apologising, and calling them trainer instead. He says that they have  no other choice but to leave this to you and asks you to come back out alive.
-After defeating/capturing Groudon, the player heads to the surface again where Maxie, Archie and Tabitha are watching the power flowing out of the Cave of Origin undo the damage from Groudon’s drought. Archie is talking to Maxie, expressing how glad he is that they’re all safe again now. Maxie walks up to him and apologises for putting them into this danger in the first place. Archie the apologises for giving up on his hope for the future, saying that he should have tried harder to stop Maxie as well. Maxie asks if Archie still wishes to stay with him and give him a chance to start over, even after all the damage he’s caused. Archie smiles and pulls him into a hug, saying he will always be there and that they can pick up the pieces and restore the damage they’ve done together.
Tabitha steps into the conversation, saying that Maxie has committed unforgivable sins, putting all living things on this planet in danger. However, he also says that this is precisely why Maxie cannot give up now- if he wants to accept responsibility like an adult, he will need to work to make up for his faults. And that if he does, Tabitha and the rest of team Magma will continue to stand behind him to support him forever.
Maxie then heads up to the player, thanking them for everything and hands them the Red Orb. He tells them that team Magma will still be working towards a better world for humanity- but in a way that won’t damage anyone else. After that, he tells the player they’ll always be welcome at their base and he, Archie and Tabitha leave.
-If the player visits the Magma base later Archie will pull them aside. He mentions having found something he has been looking for for a long while- for the Pokémon he’s had since he was a child. He then says that he no longer feels like he can handle it responsibly and that this power is better off in the hands of the player and hands them the Sharpedonite.

"Meliodas" Zeldris growled as he took notice of the blonde in front of him. In a flash he was standing in front of you, shielding your body away from his brother, as his hand was already grazing his sword, ready to draw it out whenever needed. He finally got you back, he wasn’t gonna let you go without a fight.
"I think you have kidnapped someone from my team. I'd like her back, please" he said cheerfully, but his eyes betrayed his whole good-guy facade as the malice that was swimming in those orbs was so intense, it was hard looking away once you captured his gaze.
"Hold it!!" Galan yelled, stopping Zeldris who was about to draw his sword and strike his brother "he's my prey"
Meliodas sighed, not really interested in fighting the commandment of truth since he was here to get you back, but on the other hand, it was the perfect opportunity to test out this old-newfound power he just got back. The fight lasted only seconds as Galan had absolutely no chance at defeating the runner-up for demon king.
"I won’t repeat myself again after this, you have my friend, I'd like her back" the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins cheerful facade had now completely fallen and made way for a much more serious look as his eyes narrowed at the demons in front of him.
"What makes you think I'd hand her over so easily?" Zeldris challenged, not cowering down underneath the intense stare.
"Your powers are nowhere near fully restored, and I'm sure you felt my increase in power recently. I don’t think I have to spell it out for you, now do I?" He taunted back, making Zeldris clicked his tongue as he looked over his shoulder to look at you and his teammates. Gloxinia and Drole had taken a couple of steps closer towards you. They knew the chances of a fight breaking out were very high, especially with those two hot-headed brothers, so they wanted to make sure that if it were to happen, they’d immediately be able to get you to safety.
"Even so, you're still greatly outnumbered. Do you honestly think you can take all of us even with your newly restored power?" Zeldris asked, turning back to look at the blonde.
"No, but (Y/N) is a friend and I do not turn my back on my friends" Meliodas stated as he crossed his arms in front of him.
You saw a twitch in Zeldris body along with his fingers curling around the handle of his sword, signalling he was about to strike "Wait!"
Both brothers looked at you, but you only had eyes for Zeldris, knowing it was mostly him you had to convince. You took a step closer and placed your hand on top of the one that was holding his sword, a pleading look was visible in your eyes "let me talk to him"
"No" he refused, the kind eyes that only you got to see were nowhere to be found. He was scared, you could easily tell by his stiff posture. He was scared to lose you again. He’d rather die than live a single moment without you again.
“He won’t hurt me, nor will he take me against my will” You reasoned with him, but he didn’t budge “Zeldris”
"Fine” He sighed, knowing you were right. You squeezed his hand and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before jumping to stand directly in front of your long time friend.
"Tinkerbell! I knew you’d come" He exclaimed happily, but his smile dropped as he took notice of your troubled face. He knew he was being a hypocrite, trying to get you to leave your one true love, but at the same time, it was so different. You were siding with the bad side, but then again, was there really a good and a bad side in war? Everyone fights for what they think is right, fighting for the ones they love. No one is ever completely bad, you refused to believe that, it’s one of the many reasons why you took an interest in Zeldris in the first place.
"I'm staying here, Meliodas" you stood your ground, eyes staring straight into his green once, not cowering under his intense stare. "You of all people should know how I feel. I can’t leave him, not again."
"What about King?" he asked, he knew it was dirty to use your loyalty against yourself, but he was hopeless at this point. He didn’t want you to be on the opposite side of the battle.
You smiled softly at his nickname "Harlequin doesn't need me. He has all of you after all. How can I be the royal guard of the Fairy King when I don't even have my wings anymore? It’s better this way"
"What about Diane? Elizabeth? All the others? Do you suddenly not care about them?" He questioned, his voice falling at the end “What about me?”
“You will always be my best friend, and I’m forever grateful for what you’ve done for me, but we both know that I was never really part of the group. I should have died, multiple times, but I never did. Instead, I watched everyone I’ve ever loved die before my very own eyes. Zeldris is the only one left.” Tears glistered in your eyes as the realization of saying goodbye started to sink in.
"You know there will be no turning back after you take this route, right?" He warned, it was his final desperate attempt to get you to change your mind, both knowing that if you’d stay, the next time you’d meet was on the opposite side of the battlefield.
"I'm sorry, Meliodas," you said as a single tear finally rolled down your cheek. A soft smile still planted on your lips to show him you still held nothing but love towards the boy. The seven deadly sins captain held an understanding expression. He couldn’t be mad at your decision, he knew he should have expected it, but that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt less, he just lost his best friend “Me too”
Meliodas disappeared in thin air and within seconds, Zeldris took his place, his hand was placed on your cheek as you shakily took in a deep breath “are you okay?”
You weren’t quite sure what the answer to that answer was. Were you okay? Did you make a mistake? You just lost your best friend, the only one that had stayed by your side through all your ups and downs. Not only had you completely shattered that bond, but you had also broken alliance with the Fairy King. The very own thing that kept you going was now gone. Any hope of returning to the Fairy Kings Forest had now disappeared, and for what? For your own selfish desires? But you didn’t care. You were never selfish, you always made sure to put everyone before yourself. It was time to think about yourself.
You wiped the tears from your cheeks and wrapped your arms around the torso of your long-lost lover, basking in the familiar feeling of being home, the feeling you had to miss for over 3000 years "I am now"
