LMK!Monkey Smiling Headcanons

i have so much to update on my blogs 😔 in the meantime have monkey headcanons

Wukong no longer sees smiling as aggressive due to prolonged contact with humans. As a result, neither does most of Flower Fruit Mountain/Huaguoshan. He and most of the mountain only consider it aggressive depending on the context (ex. some of the older monkeys may "smile" at each other aggressively).

I think Wukong actually really likes making his human/non-monkey partner smile/laugh because he knows it's different for humans (granted, he does understand smiling can be complicated).

Macaque, however, DOES consider it aggressive. I heavily headcanon him as autistic so I am thinking he never understood when the mountain starting leaning into more human customs (this is a form of him not understanding social cues in my head).

This doesn't really change if Macaque has a human/non-monkey spouse. In the beginning of the relationship it can start a lot of fights if you smile in his direction 💀 eventually he WILL learn that he doesn't immediately have to go into fight mode, but he'll also super appreciate if you find other methods to express happiness w him :3

I also think he takes great care to never snarl/smile/show his fangs at his partner. Ever. The only exception might be if you're curious and ask to see them, but even then it can make him pretty uneasy. He'll probably do some sort of placating/submissive gesture during to further reassure he's not being aggressive.

Macaque IS an asshole, which is part of why he gets irked over smiling/bared teeth, but I think most of the time it has more to do with his trauma and his struggle to distinguish between real threats and miscommunications. He'll get there.

because of their differing opinions, MK is confused on how to act once he gets his monkey form. Macaque trains him more "traditionally" (with an emphasis on grooming, hierarchy, respect, etc.) while Wukong is more "modern" and easy-going. This also means Wukong and Macaque have gotten into some gnarly fights because Macaque has assumed MK was trying to be threatening/aggressive.

After this, MK picks up smiling when nervous/covering his mouth when smiling.

and eventually of course devolving into the “trans women actually have more privilege than me somehow and i feel threatened by them” which turned into “in the future i dont want to live with AMABs again” yes that second one is a direct quote there was so much more to the convo it ended our friendship quite abruptly and messily.

but my point being transmascs using their own dysphoria and their bigotry they inherited from their family as a weapon against trans women is soo much more common than you think it is. this person was supposedly a leftist and was friends with/trying to date many trans women at the time. it unsettled me how he would imply he found these women untrustworthy at the time but also he approached specifically trans women again and again looking for their patience nurturing and support even asking them for money and favors. before again pivoting and returning to the i think shes a bit TOO into me and its creeping me out.

my takeaway was basically it is your responsibility to tell trans women if they are seeing or hanging out with someone who says terfy shit behind their back. protect your community to make sure nobody has to experience that type of violence (to be clear the violence im referring to here is: someone trans or cis who wants to date/sleep with trans women but continues to imply trans women are dangerous or untrustworthy, eventually discarding each woman they bring into their life for vague reasons which all stem back to transmisogyny)

i was so distracted by how every time i tried to discuss with HIM the harm he caused he would break down cryinf about how fragile he is and all the trauma in his life and i was hesitant to let my friends know the transphobic things he said about them because i thought it would hurt them a lot (ignorant on my behalf. once i finally told my friends i realized i should have warned EVERYONE the very first time i saw this behavior) i didn’t want to seem like i was shit talking him or being rude to the women he was seeing but by the end of our friendship that was one of my greatest regrets. I personally try to honor this mistake by fucking never letting something like this slide ever again and being a reliable friend to the trans women in my life by telling them honestly if i don’t trust someone i see them associating with. that type of passivity in our communities is something that also puts trans women at risk.

since coming back to tumblr ive seen a lot of transmascs harrasing trans women here and the sense of entitlement and the need to frame trans women as a threat to your individual comfort and safety is incredibly harmful and selfish. it reminds me of that shit i watched going down two years ago with my room mate and i really don’t like seeing terf ideology spread by other trans people. check yourself and imo leave trans women the fuck alone if you are still unlearning that shit. stop inviting trans women on dates and hangouts if behind their backs youre insinuating they are untrustworthy or violent in some way. that is so evil ok send post

It’s a bit satisfying to see the war expose so many “leftists” as racist Islamophobic scumbags who only care about themselves. So many people that were big in social justice and fandom circles turned out to be hateful, self centered pricks.

It's not an apology, it's a clarification. He very directly says "you misconstrued what I said" a thing multiple people around here have been trying to say for months. He said this exact same thing in an Instagram post he made a few months ago but people lack the reading comprehension skills to follow something like that. So he said it in a TikTok video again only some people are still not understanding. And it's because they don't want to. (He has recently taken his Instagram post down, I'm guessing because he is getting relentlessly harassed.) The truth of the matter is that many people didn't take the time to understand basic facts about this situation (like what the word Zionism actually means) and the result was that a lot of misinformation spread because people were desperate to make sure their followers knew they were The Most Progressive and The Most Anti-Racist. They did not talk about this issue in a way that was culturally sensitive. They made assumptions about Noah based on anti-Semitic stereotypes and I don't even think they realize they are doing it because, again, they aren't well-informed. But every time someone twists the word Zionism to mean "pro-genocide" and makes the flying leap that anyone using that word is laughing at people dying they are falling into the stereotype that Jews are bloodthirsty. Anytime people say that any Jewish person has the wrong information in this situation and needs to education themselves about their own culture, they are believing that Jews can't be trusted. They did all of these things to Noah and they did it very easily because they are ignorant. These people essentially turned into an angry mob. I can't even count the amount of comments I saw that were basically "I hate Noah too!!! Wait, what did he do? Someone tell me!" They piled on because their peers were doing it and not because they had any clue what the problem was. It was the cool and trendy thing to do so they did it. And they deluded themselves into thinking they were saving Palestinians in the process when they actually didn't do shit for anyone. The only problem is that the people who did this didn't take the time to inform themselves before piling on. Noah didn't apologize to them because he doesn't have to. They owe him an apology though and I think the ones with larger followings are responsible for a lot of this and imo are lucky they didn't get sued for defamation. He didn't do any of the things they are accusing him. They decided for themselves what he thought and believed based on very little information and they have no right to do this to anyone. They seriously think Noah is responsible for single-handedly killing people. He's not in the military or a politician. He didn't even endorse anyone who did. This whole situation is the stupidest fucking thing in the world. They are more outraged over the bullshit they made up about him the actual political situation and it's because they don't actually care. They are using Palestinians as an excuse to say hateful things, but they aren't helping them at all. I don't think Gen Z-ers are realizing that everyone older than them is getting increasingly more concerned about the way they go about their political activism. It's a serious problem and this current political situation only highlighted problems with them that had been occurring for a while now. Relentlessly harassing any Jewish person online for not speaking exactly to your liking isn't activism. Threatening to kill people who disagree with you isn't activism. Trying to ruin someone's career because they didn't act like your parasocial bestie isn't activism. Spamming the comments of everyone's posts with Free Palestine isn't activism and it sure as hell isn't what spreading awareness looks like. That requires being well informed first. Not to mention learning how to have difficult conversations without screaming hysterically at people and shouting that they must be pro-genocide/racist/misogynist/homophobic every damn second just because they said something you didn't take the time to understand.

They need to learn to ask for a clarification before assuming the absolute worst about people. They do this to people in the fandom constantly and it's why no one decent posts here regularly anymore. They are ignorant, plain and simple. But they are so desperate for peer approval and for people to think they are the best activists ever that they don't realize how much damage they do when they behave this way.

The people still pissed at Noah were always going to be. They were always going to pick him apart because they are anti-Semitic and they made that very clear. All he is saying is that people need to understand that both Jews and Palestinians are human and stop taking sides. A thing that anyone with a shred of human decency has been saying for months. The people who haven't been saying this tend to be very young (teens and early 20s) and it's because they fell for a lot of unverified information on TikTok - something that is concerning a lot of people given that it is an election year in the US. All anyone had to do here was listen and they didn't. They are too busy trying to be morally superior to anyone to bother having an actual conversation. They still aren't listening. There was nothing wrong with what Noah said here either. But people are determined to believe that he was laughing at people dying when he wasn't. This literally never happened. They just heard a word they weren't familiar with a jumped to awful conclusions. It's not their place to educate anyone on anything. They are not qualified to do so. And I wish people were smarter about who they were reblogging and weren't so desperate to get more followers by jumping on the bandwagon. They cause so much drama in the fandom constantly by acting like this. This is just the latest example.

The people who think it's now suddenly ok to be violent and homophobic towards someone just because they perceived that person to do something they didn't like, were waiting for an opportunity. They wanted to be horrible and they think they got a reason. They didn't and there is never a reason to behave like this. But it did reveal just how many people in this fandom are horrible human beings. The people who weren't saying this directly were still agreeing with those people and were not better than them. It should have set alarm bells off in their heads that the only people who agreed with them were being vile. That should have been the first clue they were on the wrong side. I wish people learned to think for themselves better. They were clearly jumping on the bandwagon and didn't understand what was going on. And I stand by my comment from a few months ago, we would not be dealing with relentless drama in the fandom if the show had a higher rating. And I do think they need to focus more on their original adult audience again. Most of us do not feel comfortable posting regularly in this fandom when it got taken over by kids who don't understand any of the things they are upset about, but they are upset with everyone and everything constantly. No one came here to babysit.

After catching up to recent episodes, I wanted to put my two cents in with Gwen and Jon's characterization since they both share similar vibes and not enough people talk about their differences.

First of all, Jon would never have done what Gwen did in the latest episode (ep 20). They both have a knack for pissing off Avatars/Externals, but even s1Jon wouldn't have mouthed off like that to one. Jon got beat up by Avatars for asking too many questions and not minding his own business (and for being Gertrude's successor), Gwen was just being blatantly antagonistic to a someone that literally kills people with tattoos because she got annoyed that they wouldn't sign her government form.

Second of all, Gwen isn't Eye-aligned like Jon was. Unlike Jon, she isn't curious. She doesn't ask questions or go looking for answers regarding the Externals. She does exactly what she's told, which is the exact opposite of how Jon operated. She's only interested in doing her job with the end goal of taking Lena's position, for whatever reason that might be.

And lastly, Gwen is selfish. While Gwen and Jon both wanted to be taken seriously in their line of work, Jon had given up that professionalism pretty quick when he realized people were getting hurt because of it. Even when he'd lost his humanity, he'd been terrified of putting anybody through the same terror he'd been through, to the point where he'd constantly put himself in harms way because of it. Jon was a stubborn idiot, but he cared deeply for other people. He never wanted others to get hurt, even when he wanted answers. (That's why he burned Gerry's page, after all.)

Gwen, on the other hand, isn't like that. When Gwen found out from FR3-DI that her boss had literally tried to murder someone that used to work here, her immediate response was to blackmail her to get a raise. She didn't warn her coworkers, she didn't even think of the risk to her own safety - just how it could benefit her. It's the same for when Gwen met with Bonzo and the other Externals. Even though Gwen found out what had happened to the people she'd sent Bonzo after, the fact that dozens of people died because of her involvement, she still didn't leave. She felt bad about it, sure, but it didn't stop her from continuing with it. Because for whatever reason, she wants that promotion so much that she's willing to let other people to die for it.

Gwen is not like Jon, who constantly sacrificed himself for others, nor like Gertrude Robinson, where the ends justified the brutal means. Unless there's some grand reason for it, a promotion isn't worth what she's doing. Gwen isn't heartless, but she is selfish.

She's not a monster just yet, but she is painfully human.
