so dont be afraid to try different things and see what u enjoy the most and stick with that bcuz u dont wanna be forcing urself to do something that u won't enjoy/that won't give u the results that u want. if working out in general isn't rly ur cup of tea at all, thats totally okay! try going for walks or start running. maybe try out for a sport or start a style of dance. the whole point of this category is to get urself moving bcuz its rly rly good for ur physical and ur mental health, and it'll serve u in the long run. another youtuber i rly recommend for pilates workouts is madeline abeid.

if u like subliminals this is my favorite subliminal maker on youtube. their subliminals r amazing and i enjoy them bcuz they dont have music layered onto it (i like subliminals that have soothing sounds like rain or water or anything asmr). last but not least my absolute favorite manifesting coach/teacher on the whole internet, sammy ingram - literally the best manifesting guide. she rly simplifies things and her channel is full of helpful advice, success stories, challenges and her perspective on manifesting is brilliant so i rly recommend her.

journalling is honestly the best thing that i have ever done for my mental health, the ROI that i get from it is actually incredible so i highly highly recommend it. if ur someone who doesn't rly like to write a lot, use ur notes app or whatever just get the thoughts out of ur mind and onto a piece of paper/notes. i understand that sometimes when ur mental health isn't doing too well and u dont feel motivated rly to do anything (like u feel lethargic and stuff) forcing urself to do things ISNT always the answer. i rly recommend having alternate routines cuz we ask a lot from ourselves sometimes so some days, ask a little less.

give urself the break that u deserve. when u feel like crying, CRY. even if its for no reason, the body holds onto pent up emotions so when u cry u gotta CRY. with time you'll find the things that help u feel better. for everyone its different. for me, when my mental health is in a slump what helps me is : 1. doing one thing differently (i'll go for a walk maybe) 2. get ready (take a quick shower, or if i dont even have the motivation to do that i'll do a sink shower) 3. drink a cold cup of water and make myself a meal. dont ever have zero days. always give at least 1% or do at least one thing.

hygiene is so instrumental in mental health cuz like i've said before looking good -> feeling good. i make sure to get ready everyday even if im going nowhere. just bcuz the process of getting ready gives me so much momentum. smelling good gives me so much confidence bcuz im the type of person thats rly rly scared of smelling bad. im a hygiene JUNKY so im always buying soaps and fragrances. when u make self care a daily thing it'll feel so natural. dont neglect ur oral health, invest in quality products that are suited for your needs. be meticulous when it comes to ur hygiene cuz a solid routine is lowkey comforting. i rly recommend korean skincare, indian haircare, african body care, and arabic perfumes and fragrances. some of my favorite hygiene based youtube channels are : SARA BEQELE and anna renns world

TAKE. SCHOOL. SERIOUSLY. the feeling that u get when u get a good score on an assignment or test is unmatched. at the end of the day ur responsible for ur education. it's not hot to be a loser. if ur someone who struggles to stay on top of assignments, write down the assignment as soon as its assigned and at the next possible chance do it. as soon as u get home from school. reward urself for good grades and for ur accomplishments cuz ur AMAZING. study effectively instead of excessively.

pursue excellence always. find ways to motivate urself throughout the school day (for me, i always try and incorporate girliness into school cuz that motivates me) all my pens and pencils and folders are pink and i get myself ready everyday before school. cuz when i FEEL good -> i perform well. if u ever dont wanna study remind urself that studying>failing. advocate for urself, dont be afraid to ask questions cuz ur responsible for ur grade if u need accommodations or longer time to take a test (even if u dont) always set urself up to have the most time possible and the most resources. the resources that u have USE THEM. the goal of studying isn't to "mostly" know the material its to know for SURE. when u can explain something thoroughly, thats when you can know if you've studied enough.

of course for the new year and for life in general, organization is rly helpful. manage urself mindfully and intentionally. even if ur a messy person, organizing isn't difficult if u do it in a way thats right for you. for me, notion - is literally the best organizational tool. i have an agenda, calendars, school pages, and so much more.

with notion i rly organized my life on a whole other level. aside from notion, the notes app on ur phone is rly useful, when it comes to organizing ur day to day life, i think its important bcuz it helps u to maximize ur time. for planning out ur year, if u find it difficult to stay "on task" or achieve the goals that u set for urself, try this : dont see the year as 365 days, instead separate the year into 4 quarters (90 days each) and in each of those quarters choose one aspect to focus on and pour into. make sure to log and track ur progress on those goals. the idea to this is breaking things down. break down big goals -> to more digestible goals so that then its more believable for u. remember, your limitless.

if ur someone who has bad nutrition, or unhealthy eating habits in general and u wanna change that my biggest advice would be to NOT BE EXTREME. bcuz i feel like if u go fully extreme so quickly then the change isn't sustainable. take it slow. start off by introducing a fruit into breakfast and having a vegetable at dinner, then eating fruit with ur breakfast and having fruit as a snack, and eating veggies with lunch and dinner. ik it sounds repetitive and overdone but u need to be consuming ur fruits and veggies. if ur not eating it with ur meals then maybe have it in a smoothie if that works for u. take supplements for things that u dont rly incorporate into ur diet, and the key to a good diet is BALANCE. dont deny urself food that u love. life is WAY to short to be scared to eat the burger that u so desperately want. its okay to eat what ppl might consider "junk food" but everything in BALANCE and moderation. keep the 80/20 principal in ur mind. 80% of what u eat should be good for u and 20% of what u eat should be whatever u crave. DRINK WATER, dont go on extreme diets if ur not an adult and haven't consulted a doctor it does u more harm than good.

learn every single day. even if ur not in school anymore. a way to help learn and sharpen ur mind every single day is picking up a hobby that can help u do so. for me, the hobby i have is reading, reading keeps my brain sharp, it keeps me entertained, and when i read nonfiction it keeps me informed. so the hobby of reading has a high ROI. whenever u get an idea of any sort, ACT on it. u dont have to wait a billion years before acting on an idea. when u get ideas, its for a reason, ur mind is brilliant and imagine how many ideas that u wasted. thats why i recommend having a creative outlet of some sort. for me, my creative outlet is my blog where i can come and talk with you guys 🫶🏽 but ur creative outlet can be ur notes app or ur journal or ur sketchbook. just a way to get the ideas in ur brain -> onto paper.

ur never ever tied down to one version of urself, u can always change ur mind/opinion, u can create a new version of urself whenever the heck u want. remember that u have free will and that ur always in control. bcuz it is your life it revolves around you and it is your responsibility. its not something to mess around with. take responsibility for urself, ur actions, ur reactions etc.

1% of progress is better than 0%, a little is always better than nothing. ur social anxiety or ur fear of being perceived is HOLDING U BACK. forgive urself for ur mistakes, everything that ur embarrassed of in ur past let it go and LET YOURSELF LIVE. become ur own project, ur own muse and if all else fails (which it won't, you'll be fine and everything will work itself out for u even better than u could've ever imagined) love yourself unconditionally.

Hi, I know its been a minute n I don't really like that there is like one or two posts between this n my last 'i'm still alive' post. I'm sorry. I wanted to say thank you to everyone in general, but also the mfs who said some nice ass shit to me. Sorry I said some concernin ass shit n just dipped, that was pretty fucked. I never really had people care like all the people on here, so I ain't too used to havin to be more careful with the shit I do n say.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words, concern, n care. Comin back to see all of it made my fuckin heart melt. I know I'm just some dumbass postin south park shit on tumblr, but you guys are genuinely the most amazin mfs I've ever encountered. To the people who were in my inbox askin if I was still alive, I sincerely apologize for causin any stress or concern, it's not my intention. You guys are the sweetest people, and I'm sorry for doin that. I should prolly stop bein as vocal about bein so fucked, but I also like to be honest n I like sharin this shit bcuz I know mfs be goin through the same shit n bein alone in it feels fuckin awful majority of the time.

I am not well. I am doin very bad actually. There's a chance imma be forcefully medicated in the near future. Which is weird bcuz I used to always want that, I wanted to be fixed, but now I'm not sure for like a TON of reasons. One, ion wanna be changed (in a sense). If the meds take away or dull core aspects of myself, I will lose it further than I have already. Two, my parents raised me to never trust doctors or medicine, etc. Even though I do think modern medicine is a great thing, I still have my fears bcuz of how I was raised. Three, I fear the fuck outta what I will do. I know they warn that adjustment periods n shit like that can make things worse- but I literally cannot get any worse. If I do, I know I will not come out alive. Which bleeds into reason four, which is that I know, at some point, I would try n overdose. Handin me such a quick n thoughtless way to just end it is like the worst fuckin thing they could do. But whatever. Ion even know when it's gonna happen, all I know is that ion got a choice. Uhh minor update shit- my cat came back home after almost a month of bein fuckin somewhere. She came back skinny, dirty, n sick, but she is slowly recoverin n I've never been more thankful. ED is still kickin my ass, but I'm forcin myself to at least have a fuckin soup I made bcuz I can't get shit done at work if I keep faintin or gettin injured. I have little to no time to do shitfuck, but still do random shit periodically before or after work. first off, huge plug for catchingteez on youtube's excellent vocal analyses of yeosang. a lot of what i have to say about him musically is borrowed from their observations.

oh, the plight of lower voice parts in an ensemble. as a choir alto, i am well-accustomed to the experience of being relegated to singing backup/harmony like 80% of the time. i ALSO understand that the lower voice parts are soooo important for giving the choir its full, rich sound and if we WEREN'T there you'd fucking know, and we are special and amazing and god's bravest soldiers and our parts are the hardest and our tits are huge and--anyways. (what's the definition of an alto? -a soprano who can sightread ok i'll shut up). and ALSO, when lower parts DO get given the melody (approximately once every 47 business days) it's a fucking huge moment. it'll blow your tits clean off. and everyone clapped.

all this to say, not that it's necessarily right that yeo has been stuck in the backup parts of so much of ateez's repertoire (though if you are not personally involved in the production side of any group, you probably don't have enough information to know why lines are distributed the way they are and i think people should exercise caution before crying mistreatment. maybe some people just wanna dance.), but just because he hasn't always had the most prominent parts doesn't mean he's superfluous or treated that way.

i have been trying to save the in-depth vocal analyses for another post(s) but since part of yeo's core mythos among fans has been "guy who doesn't get lines" i want to do a little bit more here than i have elsewhere.

the tricky thing about idols debuting at 18 (or younger 😱) is that singing voices are usually not completely done changing by that time. voices continue to develop and settle into their true ranges into and sometimes beyond someone's early twenties. in the early days i think yeo's voice was not only untrained but also just had not settled to the point where he would be able to produce the best sound in that part of his range, and also ateez's discography just didn't really have many parts down there either. in general, his voice is quite soft and his intonation pretty dark, so when singing lower notes his voice just did not really have the power to cut through a lot of their heavier backing tracks or stand up against other vocalists with punchier voices. he ended up just getting a few lines in an awkward placement for him and when he does sing lower notes, it's often to double another singer down the octave or fill out group vocals--often to great effect! hear him doubling seonghwa in mist, and in the say my name prechorus. that said he was also always a really important part of atz's sound in all tracks, just not in the flashiest way.

also now that i've learned more about the way the writing team has members audition for who gets what part, i have other guesses as to what was going on, namely just that it may have been an issue of confidence in addition to/because of the other factors.

now part of the reason why the whole The World era is so fucking GOATed in my esteem is that is around when they finally truly started to lean on their bass section! there were some boom boom title tracks that dipped into that before but mostly just to add to the effect of being Loud. but from imo deja vu onward, i feel like the production really started to play with the deeper voices and especially yeosang's, on their own and in contrast with the higher/brighter/lighter vocals for some really cool kinda chiaroscuro effects. this both narratively serves the darker moods of the World era albums and also musically propels the group into a more sophisticated sound that is sooo satisfying.

and it paid off big time for yeo. his "five star michelin moment" (as described by catchingteez) in the halazia prechorus, fucking DUNE,

you can tell yeosang really started to come into his own around that time--as did almost everyone else to an extent, but yeo's case is particularly striking and heartwarming--and he's only continued to do more and more cool stuff musically as we've entered the golden hour era. i'm super looking forward to doing more vocal and musical analysis so i can really dig into these topics more. this also happened with other members to less dramatic degrees, but this is a post about ys so shhhh. he's just really in his element right now and i'm living for it.

let's talk about DANCING now. yeosang is just mesmerizing to watch perform. whenever he is centered i find myself so compelled to watch, just can't look away, and he often steals the show even from the background tbh. so many of my absolute favorite dance moves among ateez's repertoire involve yeosang in some way (immediately coming to mind include the smn prechoruses, his center part in deja vu, halazia ofc, everything about cyberpunk, the way he kills the bouncy limbo move, the shuffle from iomt, etc). and his choreo always matches his vocals (when he has them 🥲) extremely well? next time you watch ateez perform anything, PLEASE pay attention to yeosang, wherever on stage he may be!

finally, any discussion of kang yeosang cannot go without a mention of how he is subtly the funniest member of ateez. there is one (1) other member who is a serious contender for the title but the others try but simply can't compete. it's the quiet ones as they say. his comedic timing is unparalleled and he has this deadpan way of delivering lines that is SO FUCKING FUNNY (skip to around 1:00 in that video to see a great example). i love when he narrates vlogs. you can tell he's really smart even though he plays up being a space case. member who gets teased a lot? no. the other members are fortunate to be permitted to tease him. anyways he's such an entertaining addition to side content. i also think he is maybe the member i would best get along with irl. overall he seems pretty quiet and low-drama (i keep hearing stuff abt relationship drama but idk man i think the dude's just vibing)

Niko has been her friend since childhood, he introduced her to the beta squad, and that's when y/n and Sharky just clicked, and have been dating for 3 years. “3 times in a row is not luck but sure Niko” you reply. “If you're so sure you can beat me, why don't we raise the stakes” you propose while smirking. “How do you suggest we do that?” Niko says interested. “Whoever wins the next game, gets to dare the loser to do whatever they want and you can't say no” “Okay deal” And it starts. Mario Kart was your game, so you were not worried, but somehow Niko kept getting a bullet, and…. HE WON?!? HOW?? You sit there shocked as to what has happened while Niko now mocks you the same way you did before. “I TOLD YOU ITS LUCK” He shouts still showing you an L. You were gonna see Sharky right after hanging out with Niko. While you did have your own apartment, you liked staying over with him most days. You rang the bell, ready to do this dumb prank and get it over with. Thoughts raced through your head, the biggest worry being ‘What if he doesn't care and is okay with it’. You shake your head, focusing on the task at hand. Sharky opens the door, smiling as he sees you “Y/n, I missed youuu” he says as he hugs you. You smile but remember what you need to do. You put your hand on his chest, pushing him slightly. “Let's sit down, we need to talk”, Sharky looks at you confused “Is everything okay y/n?” You ignore him and walk and sit on the couch, this is gonna be harder than you thought. 

Sharky sits opposite you, still confused, waiting for you to explain what's happening. “I think we should break up,” you say, trying so hard not to break character. “What.” He said shocked. “Why, what happened, did I do something?” “No no, I just think it'll be better for us, you know help us focus on our own stuff cause we already don't have enough time” you reply, making some reason up “Y/n, if this is about filming, I'll stop to spend time with you, please don't do this” His voice cracking up, as his eyes are tearing up. You want to just hug him, and tell him this is so dumb, but you decide that you need to do a bit more. “It's not you sharks, it's me. Yk with all the girls liking you, I just can't handle it” This wasn't true at all. Yeah, he did get a lot of female attention, but at the end of the day, he was your boyfriend so you didn't care. “Y/n, I will delete all my socials, everything, block every girl trying anything, just please don't leave '' He's sobbing, you couldn't take it anymore. 

You get up, and hug him “I'm not breaking you with you, I love you sharks” “What?” “I'm not breaking up with you, it's just some dumb dare Niko gave me cause of a bet,” You say, stroking Sharky’s hair, calming him down. “Omg you gave me a heart attack, I was so scared” you giggled at this, shaking your head. “I'm not leaving don't worry, I love you” You kiss his head while cuddling him. “I love you too y/n, but dont pull dumb shit like this on me again” “I won't, I won't” you reply “Also Niko is getting a beating the next time we meet” “Let me help you” Both of you giggle before cuddling on the couch and falling asleep.

hey! alright so i may have done a thing

so for the past,,, idk 3 weeks? ive been going on a deep dive into spelling bee mostly to sedate my own curiosity of needing to know everything about what i'm interested in. as it turns out, there is a LOT of content with this musical, so i'm here to talk about my findings! note: i will be keeping this EXCLUSIVE to the original 2005 off broadway cast. as much as i'm a brown university girlie through and through, the original cast is where the content is. OKAY FIRST: youtube findings

a lot of small videos were made usually with logainne and leaf. you'll be quick to learn that they made the most off stage content. i have a public playlist with these videos, along with interviews, the original boot, and a few other things. the cast album isn't in it because that's audio only and i want visuals damnit. (plus its on spotify and easy to look up so.) the exception is 25apcsbmt12doc because its pretty underground and the purpose is to get word out about niche things.

second: myspace pages a lot of the spellers have myspace pages! this is like. a common thing!! only two were archived (leaf and logainne) and are able to be accessed! i'll talk about the others in a bit. they contain new information and i personally find them very interesting!

r/v club is a short film by rebecca feldman (one of the people that worked on spelling bee) that includes logainne! it can be found on her site with other short films. i believe this is the only one with her in it HOWEVER i have not checked therefore i could be wrong. it's set post-spelling bee, i believe. also jesse is in it but not as leaf.

okay, spelling bee has.... QUITE a bit of lost media. again, this will be separated into parts.

4.1: C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E

before spelling bee was a thing, crepuscule (albiet mispronounced) was an improv play made by the farm. (same group who made r/v club) a lot of the characters were similar or the same, and it has a similar premise. however, it wasn't a musical. from what i've heard, there USED to be a boot of it, however i haven't found one of my own. i would love to be corrected.

4.2 myspace pages

remember how i was going to say this was going to come up again? hi thats now. outside of leaf and logainne, other myspace accounts were made! mitch (comfortcounselor), olive (mydictionary) + (oliveostrovsky), chip (chiptolentino), marigold (marigoldconeybear) an olive and barfee joint account (ilovemydictionary), and a leaf and logainne joint account (schwartzylogan). there's also another leaf account with the very confusing name of panchspell the issue with these is that theyre not archived, so you'll need a myspace account with a verified email to view these. in the year of our lord 2024 that's not exactly an easy find, especially since verification emails no longer send. plus, one of olive's accounts is dictionary.com now so,,,, who knows what it looks like there. most also need a connection, which makes things even MORE difficult. i hate how close but out of reach these accounts are.

4.3. spelling bee game

yeah they had a game. it's on the site, and it's eternally stuck at loading characters from my experience. here's the link anyway! game

4.4 the dirty bee

oh jesus its the dirty bee. so for context, in 2006 when the show was running, a few nights were booked for spelling bee that were meant for mature audiences and were 18 plus. it's catered towards people who have already seen the bee and want something new. it was inspired by jay (panch) and putting in words or sentences researsals that were clearly for funnies because he was bored. alas it became a derivative of the musical. all we know is what an article provides (theres more than one but the one linked gives the most info) and that chip quote unquote "finished off" at my unfortunate erection according to jose. there's rumor that chip is canonically bi in it but theres no sources so,,,, can't confirm that one.

as for expecting more- absolutely 99.9% guarantee! I'm insane for them. They were in my brain for a year before I even made anything of them. Chronically.

Id love to really get into comics, but I think for my scatterbrained adhd ridden approach to everything, it may be multiple short comics showing the sequence of events instead of a single comic telling the entire story. in theory, if they're all lined up in order, the whole story will be told- but breaking it down into bite sized chunks I'm pretty convinced is the only way this'll ever leave my skull. I don't have the mental fortitude or patience or writing and artistic skill or a team for something like webtoon or a full comic- so I'm meeting in the middle lol. Symbolic YouTube videos also scratches that storytelling itch. expect more of those.

Rambling About Frog Everhood

To completely pivot from my previous posts, I want to introduce this world to Frog. Frog from Everhood. I.e. the best character in that game and imo one of the most interesting characters I've ever had the fortune of stumbling across.

Oftentimes whenever I see discussion of Frog (which isn't much given Everhood's niche nature), they often describe him as the "Anti-Sans" or "Anti-Flowey" cuz Undertale is the most common source of comparison for Everhood despite them being nothing alike. The basic gist of his character is that he guides you along subtly throughout the game purely to then convince you to kill the inhabitants of Everhood for their own good once you get the means to.

Everhood's world is basically a pocket dimension that all of humanity (or most of them anyways) was invited into by higher beings with the promise of immortality. But after billions of years, only around 50-60 people are left, stuck in a series of voids and wastelands that make up the game world. Learning this information turns the quirkiness and strangeness of a lot of what you encounter into something more bittersweet and sad, as you have the context that this is ALL these people have because they've done nothing but destroy the world built for them. It's impossible to know what sort of people the characters were when they first entered Everhood - how many different identities and lives and sagas of their immortality they went through before landing on what you see them as.

Frog alone is the one that asks you to put them out of their misery. He says they don't understand how unhappy they are after wallowing in their own misery for MILLIONS of years. It's a bit of a hard sell to make the "kill everyone" route in a game the best ending, but Everhood sells it! It really shows you what that kind of thing can do to a human brain via the mental issues a lot of the characters suffer through.

Which is what makes Frog's Wrath such a compelling fight

Frog's Wrath is probably the most well-known thing about this game, especially as its theme "Revenge" has leaked out to becoming background music in a lot of YouTube videos. But just think about that title: "Revenge." By refusing Frog, by acting as if you know better than him, you are robbing Everhood of its freedom. In his eyes, it's you not being able to stomach the now in favor of the bigger picture. And you, as the only person capable of freeing these people, are selfishly sticking to your own limited understanding of a world you barely know.

Frog knows killing you is impossible, so he tries to do the next best thing:

Make you suffer for your actions.

Frog's Wrath is THE hardest fight in the game. It's long, it's constantly throwing things at you, and even on the easiest difficulty it can be overwhelming enough to take a few hours from you. But it sells it SO WELL. Both the music and the gameplay work together in perfect harmony to sell Frog's anger and frustration, to be so close to victory and ultimately peace and yet have it torn away. Who knows how long it'll take before someone like you can finish the job?

Everhood isn't a game with deep characters - heck it's barely a few hours long - but it's a masterclass in using music and subtle storytelling to tell a really compelling saga about broken people in an even more broken world, and forcing you to make poor choices for the greater good.

Kaiju Week in Review (December 10-16, 2023)

Suit actor Kenpachiro Satsuma, who originated the roles of Gigan and Hedorah and played Godzilla in all of the Heisei films, passed away on Saturday at the age of 76. A serious performer paired with a serious Godzilla, he approached the role with near-religious reverence. Asked to give advice to Godzilla's next actor following the completion of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, he said, "Be Godzilla. Don't do anything else. Write books about playing Godzilla, talk to reporters about playing Godzilla, but don't do anything else. Just be Godzilla." His second stint as the character, Godzilla vs. Biollante, is my favorite movie of all time, and it's pretty staggering how many of its key people are gone now. Rest in peace.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters finally brought Godzilla into the present-day storyline—and finally let him enter Japanese waters in the flashbacks to 1955. (The only other time he's done this in the Monsterverse is in the debatably-canon Godzilla: Awakening.) I enjoyed the flashbacks a lot more than the main story this time, as the latter is just piling on the Ominous Pronouncements while withholding details to a degree that seems unrealistic from a Watsonian perspective. Give me a well-acted, doomed love triangle any day.

Comic book sales data is nigh-impossible to find these days, but 2022's Godzilla vs. the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers must have made bank, since it's getting a sequel! Writer Cullen Bunn and colorist Andrew Dalhouse are back, with Baldemar Rivas now handling the art. First issue's coming in April. The logline:

Worlds collide a second time as everyone’s favorite kaiju meets up with Earth’s mightiest warriors once again to take on the most fearsome monsters from both sides of the multiverse, with Rita Repulsa egging them on! This one has it all: SpaceGodzilla! Clawhammer! Tentacreep! But what exactly does Rita intend to do with their collective might, and how have her mysterious new allies, Astronema and the Alliance of Evil, given her added reach across worlds? The Power Rangers are on a mission to find out, but first…all roads lead back to Godzilla!

I recognize some of the proper nouns in there, at least!

Godzilla Minus One added even more North American theaters (from 2,540 to 2,622), but with stiffer competition in the form of Wonka, it fell to fourth with $5 million. That gets it over $30 million here; we'll see how much of a boost it gets from the holidays. The film is piling up accolades from regional critic groups, as well as a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

I'm also making my way through all the videos Toho put on YouTube when I was desperately dodging spoilers, so look forward to more Minus One gifs and screenshots.

You can put up with a recalcitrant machine for quite some time. For instance, my garage door opener hasn't gone past about 70% in the last couple decades. Adapting, learning to live with it, making compromises: it's what us human beings are good at doing. One day, though, a machine will push you just a little bit too far.

Even the simplest YouTube journey will show you hundreds of videos of people destroying unreliable appliances. Once, long ago, these were prize possessions. Trusted comrades in the fight against disorder. Slowly, as they began to age and things started feeling not-so-fresh, there was still tolerance, or at least acceptance. Getting a new one is expensive, and I can live without hot water in my dishwasher. Eventually – and no one can predict when this is – the appliance just pushed someone too far, and it was time for catharsis.

Unfortunately for all of human civilization, the indulgence of this base instinct is not done as well as it could be. Usually, these videos are low-cost, shakycam affairs, a simple drunken smash-and-giggle among bros (and she-bros, and they-bros.) What our historical record wants, nay, needs is a commitment to the total obliteration of a Maytag washer-and-dryer combo, and that's where CERN comes in.

You might be aware of CERN from all the crazy shit that the haters put in the news. They built that huge particle collider that put our world onto the wrong timeline, but they swear (of course) that it's not their fault. Regardless of whose fault it actually is (CERN's arch-nemesis, NASA?) they still do possess a particle accelerator capable of absolutely blowing the living fuck out of a partially working home appliance. And they have lots of really good slow-motion cameras to capture the moment that their victim is reduced to its constituent atoms.

Unfortunately for all of us, the damn particle accelerator broke. Yeah, I guess they only bodged it to work for the one demo, and can't figure out how to get it to be reliable. Right now, if they want to do an experiment, one of the interns has to stand inside the reaction chamber and touch two wires together, quote, "really fast" before getting the hell out of dodge. And for some reason they haven't been able to hire for that job. Maybe one day it'll be replaced by robots, which will give us a whole other host of problems to solve.

I don't think anything or at least much is going to change with the coming of the anime

twisted wonderland is way more niche then we give it credit for, I wouldn't be surprised if very few ppl will join the fandom because of the anime, from what I know and correct me if I'm wrong- it'll only be on Disney plus

Who the hell has Disney plus 😭 sure ppl can pirate but who's going to pirate an anime they've never seen a manga of (considering everyone who reads the manga has played the game and/or is already in the fandom) , at most it'll become popular through word of mouth, I know I'm going to try and get my sisters to watch it but they probably won't touch the game, some reaction Youtuber will watch it and I feel like that's where most of the new people will come from but not a lot

I don't know enough about JP fandoms and internet culture tho so maybe that will change a lot

But even if ppl do join the fandom are they really going to come over and start changing everything? is it really going to be anything we haven't seen before? I genuinely don't think so 🫠 it'll be crazy for like a month after the anime premier and then back to normal

Yeah, that about sums it up.

I said it before and I'll say it again, "the concept gatekeeps itself." There might be a few more eyes on it, but I don't expect anything more than just that: More anime influencers or whoever reacting to "What if Disney Villains were Hot Anime Guys!?" Most of the people who are into the concept are probably already here to stay. So while those who have trepidations are understandable, I also do not think that much is going to change. The most likely scenario is that it'll be like every other seasonal anime trend. Over and done with quickly. I will be very surprised if it manages to get much traction. You're also right that it being Disney+ exclusive is likely to limit its reach even more.

I'm still looking forward to it. I do hope that it's successful enough to warrant an anime adaptation of the complete story (if and when that happens).

See the thing is with streaming its going to die regardless, yes companies handing out less contracts is killing it further but its already dying at a fast rate? I'm not a stream hater either btw I really enjoy them but like. For example. 2020, 2021? When school was remote and I only ever worked mornings because of covid hours? I was clocked into that Philza 8hr stream DAILY. I was scheduling my classes around those streams so I could do homework while listening/watching. Went as far as to use my monthly speaking privilge to ask Phil what date British Daylight Savings began so I could keep my schedule clear. The second everything was no longer remote, and store hours went back to normal, I maybe caught 2, 3, maybe 4 streams in that year before I decided enough was enough about QSMP and I LOVE hardcore content.

From a company standpoint I can see why YT may not be interested in handing out streamer contracts anymore. Like Dreamie and a few others they're recognizing the Covid Number Boom is over- but unlike Dreamie, because theyre a corporation, they can't just "stick it out" and "recelebrate milestones". They have a "bottom line" to protect and they're not getting that same sweet sweet ad revenue from streams because of decreased viewer counts. Esp bc people don't just go back and watch vods unless there's a REAAAALLY good reason to. So no ad viewership there either. They're going to go back to relying on videos (and unfortunately probably shorts as well, I hate the tiktok-ification of every socmed site) to keep their ad revenue up, especially with the battle of ad blockers. I see more ad and monitization deals being handed out.

With streams (bc vod watching is lowkey practically nonexistant) not being in high demand bc of time constraints (happening while busy, timezones issues) the demands for videos will be higher as videos are ALWAYS readily available. Someone uploads at midnight your timezone? I mean it'll be there when you wake up, you won't have "missed" anything like you would have a livestream. Get a video schedule set out and you're GOLDEN- the first thing I do when I get home from work is check if a handful of youtubers have uploaded to put on to watch. If not, I rewatch some of my fav vids.

Also psychologically I actually think this is for the better of all CCs as a whole. Streaming, esp for some of the hourly requirements some of these ppl either HAVE to hit to get paid or WILLINGLY put themselves through (Tubbo) you have to wear your persona the ENTIRE time. You have to make sure you don't slip up that ENTIRE time. You have to be entertaining the ENTIRE time. You have to filter yourself because it's all live. To me this just sounds like what I do on a daily basis masking my audHD and that shit is so tiring and it's why I could NEVER be a streamer. If you're recording videos you can control what goes out. You don't have to wear whatever persona you decide to put on for 8hrs for a stream, you can record 3 hours of footage and then be done for the day, and that can either be one video or multiple depending on a lot of factors. Accidentally say your mom's name? Cut the clip. Bit isn't funny? Cut the clip. They will still have to actively filter themselves yes but for a much less amount of time. In the end CCs will have a lot more mind power that they're not using up to take care of themselves. I genuinely think it's psychologically better for them all.

It's unfortunate that the streaming industry is going to collapse this way. But also seeing how the communities heavily affected by streaming are more drama filled than communities w/o streaming, I'm lowkey hoping it's for the best. Pulling the plug like this imo is a mercy kill.

I appreciate the essay-andy-ing these are interesting thoughts! I don't think the streaming scene will collapse entirely but I do think that it will become more advantageous to be a youtuber because people have found that to be the most consistent for many years as a CC rather than streams which require a lot of additional things (like you mentioned)

And I feel like we are seeing quite a few people say they're going to prioritize youtube more in the future which seems to be the beginning of that transition

I am curious if twitch will ever try to keep certain big-viewer streamers on the platform with 'kick-style' ($$$$) contracts.

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY ANIMANIACS!!!!!

I just want to say how truly amazed I am with this show. There are very few words that can describe it. I put a few in the picture seen above, but this is barely anything compared to everything I've said. Animaniacs has changed my life in ways that many shows can only dream of. And I'm thrilled to be here today to celebrate its legacy.

I wasn't born in the 90's. I didn't grow up with this show like I know a ton of people did. I was exposed to it, mainly through the Hub Network ads for reruns, the once-in-a-while YouTube video reference, and even in fifth grade when my teacher showed us a clip of "Wakko's America" for our state capital test (which by the way I passed). I didn't acknowledge this show's presence, at least until 2020. That was a rough year, not only for me, but for everyone. Online school sucked. I couldn't see my friends. I was always crying myself to sleep and staying up late just watching videos to wash away my sadness and hurting. It was hell. I didn't have any comfort. At the absolute worst of times around October, I saw that one of my favorite channels posted a video on the trailer for the reboot of a show called Animaniacs. I was curious, mostly since I'd never heard about it before (well, I thought I hadn't). But the way the characters looked and the amount of people talking about it got me interested enough to click on the video. I listened to the reviewer's thoughts, not really understanding much, yet still being enticed to continue. I watched the actual trailer afterwards and...the rest is history.

I instantly fell in love. I watched the trailer on repeat before the reboot's release, laughing and singing along. I researched the show more and discovered a ton of voice actors I knew. I loved the characters, especially Yakko, I listened to the songs, I watched the interviews, and I talked about it constantly to my family and friends. While I didn't have Hulu, I still kept up with the reboot quite heavily. For Christmas, I got my first piece of merch, a T-shirt, and I got the first 25 episodes of the original show. I watched them on repeat with my sister and we both laughed, sang, and danced around whenever the show came on. After taking a fandom break, I got back into the show in 2021, which came with a new appreciation for Pinky and The Brain and fanfiction. Around this time, I was finally able to watch the reboot and entire original series since I got Hulu. My merchandise collection expanded, my knowledge of the show grew exponentially, and my desire to contribute to the fandom was intense. Not much has changed since then. Granted my merchandise collection is bigger, I can do impressions of a few characters, I met some of the voice actors, I joined the community on Tumblr, I actually wrote some fanfiction, and I've seen so many Animaniacs episodes now that it'll make your head spin. I'm so proud to be a super fan.

My appreciation and adoration for the Animaniacs franchise knows no bounds. It changed my life in amazing ways. And I can't believe its thirty years old today. I'm struggling to keep my emotions in right now, it's all so surreal. So, to all my followers I encourage you to give this show all your love today. It deserves it. Thank you Animaniacs. Thank you so much for everything you've done. You have made me a better individual and have fueled my love of animation for nearly three years. I hope you continue to inspire many more like me to laugh, be silly, and sing "Yakko's World" to pass a geography test. Animaniacs is the greatest show of all time, and I'll never stop saying that. hey detective how do i stop getting bored with everything i do? i can't seem to do anything anymore and it's messing with my head so badly

unfortunately anon this is a textbook symptom of depression, which can effect anyone any time. speaking from personal experience, you want to get the jump on this as soon as you can, and i advise speaking to someone you trust about this experience and seeking medical/professional intervention, as well as researching self help methods. that's all corny, i know, but they can work. depression isn't all sadness and melancholy, a lot or even all of it is unending boredom, and personally ive always found the boredom more agonizing then the sadness

or maybe it's not depression, but better safe than sorry

in the meantime, chasing little highs to keep things bearable is the best method imo, even if it's hard. some suggestions:

create a list of artsy/shitty movies to work through

smoke weed (avoid booze)

create a charcuterie board as fancy or as trashy as your heart desires (best done in conjunction with the weed)

force yourself to revisit something you were obsessed with as a child

take a weekend vacation to a city that's only an hour away

emulate some retro games

waste some disposable cash on a very specific, very out of character thrifted outfit, and wear it in public

play free online games with your friends

play free online games alone

go down a youtube rabbit hole

box dye your hair a color you think is ugly, to keep things interesting. if you hate it, you can dye it black or cut it off. it'll grow back probably

get really into one niche of music to the point where its obnoxious

look through one of the countless free archives online and start a personally curated collection (i like to go through gif cities and just download shit i like)

start a new side blog cataloging something no one cares about. like sidewalk plants, or clouds that look like clouds. squirrels you see

do all of these or none of them or whatever. it's up to you. just remember that nothing is a waste of time because the time is gonna pass anyway. if you do them, and still none of them interest you, you can at least say you did them, and that you were trying to dig yourself from out of this rut. plus they make good conversation pieces

getting through life when everything feels like nothing is about leaning into the absurd and forcing yourself to do things anyway- at least if everything's boring, you have no excuse not to try something new. worst it could be is... still boring. if it's bad at least that's an emotion to feel, and if it's good that's a win

That's how it started, but then you realize you've never got an experience with baking before, or perhaps you did but not really doing that much.

And now that you're in this situation, where you and your Beloved Kaichou, baking together.

He had way more experience than you, the way he moved around the kitchen to find what things you need to make this certain cake you wanted.

"Okay so, ..Jagiya, Do you know how to bake" He rolled up his sleeves and put on an apron on him, then on you. "No..." You can hear him stifling his laughter behind you as he tie your apron, "H, Hey! Don't laugh at me," You scolded him. Earning a small apology from him, though he's chuckling as he did.

"How about you?" You asked as you look at the preparation in front of you, a bowl, a whisk, ..other basic baking stuff that you need is displayed in front of you and him.

"I've learned about how to bake years ago, since, you know. I'm a sweet tooth, and I prefer not to spend money on them. So.." He looked over at you smiling, "So you decided to learn how to make them yourself" He smiled wider and nod his head, "Yes that's correct" he said as he now grabbing a scissor to open up some ingredients.

"Okay then-" You took a deep breath, "Teach me."

It's only been 10 minutes in, you, learning how to bake not only from Ver, but also watching videos about them.

You, kinda doubt yourself if you could get a hang of it, but Ver reassured you that it'll go well, he'll help you.

And so it began, you both started mixing the ingredients, as you whisk them, Ver went to grab the tray.

After you're done, you helped Ver pouring the dough on the cake mold. As you wait for the cake, you both decided to make icing for the cake, after you're done making the icing, you tried to grab a taste.

Ver beat you to it, before you could put your finger in your mouth, he grabbed your wrist and licked the icing off your fingers.

"Tasty~" He said and let your wrist off, pretending like he did nothing at all, "Y, You-!" You glared at him as he smiled teasingly at you. "Me?" He repeated, You smacked his arm, making him laugh as he brush his hand on your reddened cheek.

"You're so unfair." You pouted, but then laughed along with him.

After who knows how long, both of you finished making the cake along with applying the icing. You stared at the cake in front of you, nothing too much but it looks simple and it actually taste good.

You shared a plate with Ver, eating the cake together, satisfied with the result.

"Maybe we should do this more often" You said as you glance at the cake and then looking back at Ver, "I don't mind, it's fun to do it together"

You smiled at him, "Okay then, next time, we'll try to cook some food then"

the way he's obsessed with her I would bet the thoughts about their kids' hair would come later on. It would start when they got to spend more time together, he would watch attentively her hair routine, what she did before and after bed, how she washed her hair, and so on. Mick finds it therapeutic to watch her go around each step, he'll ask her questions here and there, to which she'll explain, and some time into the relationship she'll ask for him to do some of those, such as wash her hair, or help her detangle it. And I just know homeboy will be all happy she's trusting him and they're sharing yet another moment, he'll def open YouTube and start watching tutorials on how to braid, and some details that he may have let slip and he doesn't wanna keep asking her. Next thing hamilton!reader knows Mick has half of her products in his apartment because "I saw it online and well, I just wanted to save you the trouble of always bringing and taking your bottles of hair product..." and she won't tease him about it because she too got some of his stuff for her house (THIS REMINDS ME OF THAT SCENARIO YOU SENT ME FOR AN EXTRA KJSDKJGDSG) anyways, they'll end up having spa days before or after racing weeks, whenever they can, and their schedules let them, and it'll go from hair care to skincare. And when they're all fresh and smelling as good as ever, they'll lie together either in bed or on the couch, turn on their playlist, and take a nap (you can bet Lewis will pretend to be jealous about this new tradition because you two too have your hair care day every month or whenever you find a free time in your schedules).
