I can't tell you how much I am LIVING for your art because magically, you now managed for Mistborn Era 1, Warbreaker AND Mistborn Era 2 to do amazing fanart right around the time I'm reading the books (I'm currently on Bands of Mourning and lo and behold, you're posting amazing art!). It's honestly witchcraft and so so cool, because your artwork is not only amazing on its own but also helps me to visualise the characters and I can't express how much I love it!

Highlights from The Art of Onward book!

alright so I've decided this week for Onward Fan Art Friday that I'd do something a little different...

tbh I kind of had a hard time deciding on a theme for my 11th edition—or "up to 11" I should say—post, so hopefully that'll be decided by next week (it most probably will)

so what's this week all about you ask?

well believe it or not, I had never owned ✨The Art of Onward book✨ until yesterday! i know...crazy, right? but I found my opportunity to finally get it when i saw that it was 45% off on Amazon. so instead of paying the usual 40 bucks, I only had to pay $21! it was good deal, I'd say. but yeah I had ordered it a couple days ago, it came in the mail yesterday, and as soon as I got my hands on it I read through the whole thing, carefully looked through every page, did some excited squealing every now and again lol...cue my daily I absolutely love this film, its world, and its characters so much speech...

it took me like three hours and all I can say is WHAT A RIDE. this is such an amazing book!!

Now I've seen a good number of the art in this book from previews or elsewhere on the internet, but there are also a ton of really cool pieces in here that I'd never seen at all before that I am just blown away by! it reminded me of the amazing onward fanart I only ever see on Instagram, and in turn—the purpose of my onward fanart sharing series

so whether you own the Art of Onward book or not, tonight I'm going to spotlight pieces from within it that caught my eye, deserve more recognition, and perhaps some analyzation (this is OFFICIAL onward art after all...)

and let me tell ya, picking just 10 pieces for this wasn't easy...everything from everyone in here is SO GOOD!

Noah Klocek, Production Designer - ahhh I love this! The gang's all here! Ian and all his friends, including Kagar it looks like! I've always wanted to see a character line up of these 6! and a 3D model of Kagar too!

Madeline Sharafian, Head of Story at Pixar - ok this gives off major levels of sassy Ian and I just love it! I wonder what he's being sassy about tho...like, is he telling someone off? is he claiming he can do anything he sets his mind to with his magic? I NEED CONTEXT

Chris Sasaki, Art Director/Character Designer - awwwwww young Barley reading young Ian a storybook! emphasis on AWWWWWWWW!!! this is a very small drawing but it really doesn't matter how big it is...this is absolutely precious!

Maria Yi, Character Designer - I really love all her character drawings of Laurel, but I also really enjoy what she made here! This is something every artist needs a reminder of every once in a while: that all characters are made up of simple shapes and it's a great place to start when going about drawing them!

Kristen Lester, Storyboard Artist - 🎵 wouldn’t you like to quarter own a beautiful vacation home? 🎵 i swear...that song, and these lyrics in particular, from the deleted scene just started playing in my head the moment i laid eyes on this piece! i think cause the sirens themselves are holding contracts lol

Grant Alexander, Character Designer - this drawing seems to imply that Ian and Barley were once going to meet the pixie dusters in an actual swamp instead of the swamp-like aesthetic that ended up in the final film...but I love this idea of them hanging out in a club or bar when they're not riding their motorcycles!

Nat McLaughlin, Art Director/Set Designer - this concept looks very epic but also very dangerous at the same time...while I wouldn't want to risk being in a train accident inside a volcano, the idea of looking out a window and watching lava bubble and boil while riding in a subway sounds like a very fun attraction!

Don Shank, Set Designer, and self-proclaimed to draw and paint - OH MY GOSH KEVIN!!! Kevin from UP is in this drawing!! I love Kevin! if they were thinking of giving her a cameo at the time the phoenix was going to be the final villain that would've been interesting!

Zaruhi Galstyan, Freelance Character Designer - this is a piece from Jenny's set of pages and all I wanna say is I really love this beautiful character design! she looks like an ancient nature spirit! and now I have to ask: do these creatures exist in the onward-verse?

Dan Scanlon, the creator of all that is Onward! - who better to save for the best for last than our man Dan himself? I love all three of these drawings he made! I really enjoy drawings that visually set the scene and point out where everything is going to go, like actually pointing out with arrows who or what goes where

Hey! This is a bizarre ask but hopefully a welcome one after *gestures at the destruction and fire*. I’m completely new to the Loki/thorki fandom, having essentially come in via the exit door by watching the Loki tv series first. I was honestly just watching it for junk value to have something in the background while I knit. However, when I realized that I didn’t understand anything by the middle of Ep. 1, I went back to watch Thor 1 so I could get what was going on. And HOLY SHIT I was utterly captivated by Loki’s character in the original movie, as well as by the Loki-Thor and Odin family dynamics. I’ve now watched through the films and have been increasingly disappointed by the portrayal of Loki (since Avengers 1 frankly) save a few glimmers of good characterization here and there.

I can’t believe that I’m getting myself into another queer coded (and now more than coded wtf) “villain” with a tragic backstory who’s done dirty by the fandom at large, but here we are! I’m also super into thorki because goddamn… they sure do have a Dynamic™.

So I guess my question is, what is actually good here? I feel like I’ve been trying to fight my way back to Kenneth Branagh!Loki, and have been largely unsuccessful within canon content. Do you have suggestions for a newcomer re: fics, fanart, and meta that actually treats Loki seriously? (and thorki as well?)

And this isn't a bizarre ask at all. It was really nice to receive actually! And yeah! I'm so glad you went back and watched the originals. The TV Show character is a completely new character played by the same actor who has nothing in common with the original character (who yes is absolutely fascinating and captivating and multilayered). Honestly I just think of the tv character as Larry, Loki's dumb lookalike cousin bc they have nothing in common lol. So glad the show led to you discovering good content...and thorki. And yeah Thor 2011 is amazing! It's so underrated. If you want meta relating to that and also just gushing about the film you can def check out my Thor 2011 tag.

I know its been a long while and I’m really sorry for the long wait, I just recently got up to drawing again, was feeling practically dead like everyone this year thanks to the pandemic. The next half should hopefully come soon or in another month. I’ve been familiarizing myself with Clipstudio Paint and its 3d models which really helps speed up the process. Special thanks to my gf @gemmin8 for doing the flats yet again, I’m still amazed you enjoy flatting but grateful nonetheless.

Also I feel like I should say that as much as I still love Lapidot and will be continuing this comic I’ll still be doing fanart of other fandoms I love as well. Especially from MP100, Sense8, and Pokemon to name a few. Maybe some of mine and my friend’s Dnd characters to.

Hello! Mod here, Tataia. I’ve come to make an announcement about the-space-lady and edgy-frenchman.

From this day on, I will not be updating these blogs anymore. I will be closing the inbox and delete all unanswered asks.

Don’t worry! They will still be up, you can come back to look through everything as many times as you’d like, but don’t expect any new posts in either blogs.

Now, we all know already that these blogs have been on an never ending hiatus, and it showed no signs of updating regularly like back in the day. So, let’s have a little (okay, kind of long) chat, about how this blog came to life, and how I am happy and thankful with everything that came from it.

Feel free to not read this at all, because it is kind of a long read.

Three years ago, 2017, for the first time in the Brawlhalla history, there was a new legend leak! It was a picture taken with a phone of a monitor screen which showed the character selection screen in Brawlhalla, of the next legend in the default pose (the one that every legend has before getting their signature poses once they’re released); that was the first time everyone saw Artemis. BMG didn’t even announce her on dev streams by that point. The picture was shared in the r/Brawlhalla discord server, and, Calamari-Pop herself had tagged me to see it in one of the text channels, saying, ‘look! female Orion!’. Since I started playing the game, I’ve always been an Orion main, and once I saw Artemis for the first time, I felt like it was love at first sight.

I was instantly hyped for the character, while most people were complaining that ‘BMG had run out of ideas for new legends’, I couldn’t wait for her release, she was so beautiful, I never felt so hyped for something like I did for Artemis. I was probably the first person to make fanart for her and post it on r/Brawlhalla. People’s opinions on Artemis were very 50/50. People didn’t like her because ‘it’s just female Orion’, others genuinely liked her, and were excited to play with the next scythe legend.

I didn’t have many friends at the time who were into Brawlhalla, so for me the hype was kept mainly to myself, and of course, through my art. The picture we had of Artemis was very poor quality, so a lot of early art was missing a lot of details, but I didn’t care; I just kept drawing the only thing that was bringing me happiness.

I was a 14 year old when all of this happened, school was being very rough on me, back in the day I used to struggle so much to study, it was a pain to focus and learn, I’d always give up and go back to video games and art. My grades were horrible, I felt like my personal friendships were kind of faling apart, and so with my family. The only light at the end of the tunnel I had at the time, was the idea of making an ask blog for Artemis.

At first, I was skeptical. What if it flops? The Brawlhalla community wasn’t very active in other social medias, it was small, but everyone was close and if something big was announced, the word would spread fast. I mean, it was worth a short. Worse comes to worse, I delete the blog and move on. Ask blogs weren’t as popular as they were either.

I had claimed the URL even before Artemis was announced in a dev stream, so the blog was ready to go. I remember waiting a little more than a month when the patch of her release was finally online, and I did my move of announcing the blog in every social media I could, and so I waited for the community to show up.

And they didn’t stop coming! It was ask after ask, I was so happy, this little blog was my escape from the real world. Answering people as Artemis was honestly the most fun I was having during that year. And I could also draw her as much as I’d like! The blog was growing, and so was my audience of people who was genuinely following me for my regular art. Even when I was grounded because I did bad on a test, I still answered people with drawings made on paper.

Needless to say, this blog was definitely, a start for me in the Brawlhalla community. “Are you the person who draws a lot of Artemis?” “Yep! That’s me!” It was great, I felt like I was finally becoming someone somewhat important in a community like I always wished to, drawing what I loved, and people loved it. I even met my soon-to-be boyfriend through it!

But of course, that didn’t stop what was happening outside of the computer screen. Things were going even more downhill the more I focused on the internet and forgot about real life. It was helpless; there was no way I was passing that school year, I’d have to repeat it. My parents had decided that maybe one of the issues was that, my old school, was one of those schools that go really hard on the students, and that was not my place. So, the next year, 2018, I changed schools for the first time.

I’ve always had really bad anxiety. On the first day in the new school, you know what I did? I drew Artemis. What a surprise to nobody, but for me, this was my moment of realization, that this space lady from a fighting game, was my comfort character. This possibly canonically evil woman who wants to kill my main because of some fucked up shit he did in the past, was my comfort character. I was depressed? I drew Artemis. I was happy? I drew Artemis. I was extremely pissed off?? You guessed it! I drew Artemis! It is likely that a lot of pieces I made of her that I’ve posted online, were created from strong emotions I had while I drew it. There’s a lot that I didn’t even post either.

In 2018 I was still updating the blog, but I was also focusing a lot more on school. I was managing to get good grades, I made new friends, had new experiences, and my relationship with my family was getting better. Of course every year has its ups and downs, but overall, the important part, was finally being taken care of; I passed the school year, and then I passed again, and I passed again! I have just one more year to go, and hopefully, in 2021 I’ll be done.

Setting that aside, as the blog grew, my audience online did so too. My art improved, I’ve become, for the lack of a better word, an important member in the community. A lot of people have seen my art, and some of them probably don’t even follow me!

Today, I am a Brawlhalla Partner, I have a wonderful boyfriend, incredible friends, an amazing relationship with my family, and I am now hoping for a bright future of work ahead of me, and it was all thanks to this ask blog of a fictional character who I deeply loved. I would have never made it where I am today without Artemis, without Brawlhalla, without all of you. I could ever be thankful, and all I can give you all is more fanart of this amazing game that has completely changed my life, and with how Brawlhalla has been growing? Keep an eye on this one, it’s gonna get big.

Thank you so much everyone who has supported me over the years, and followed me more than just Artemis content. The updates on the blog have stopped because I’ve been focusing on other things. trying out new stuff and focusing on myself to become a better person and artist, creating my own stories with original characters, which I’m excited to share with all of you.

GO Rom Com Spotlight: @meowdejavu

The most excellent @meowdejavu (also syrupfactory on AO3) has claimed Passengers to adapt for Good Omens in the Good Omens Rom Com Event.

About Passengers: On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim and Aurora face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction until they discover the ship is in grave danger. goromcom: Starting with a little about you, or at least, what Tumblr knows about you. You know how if you open a Tumblr chat with someone you haven't chatted to before, Tumblr tells you two things they post about? I wanted to tell you that yours reports that you post "about #good omens and #art". I love it, that dedication to being a fan of Good Omens. (And you've reblogged some fan art I haven't seen before, so thanks for that!)

meowdejavu: Ha, excellent!! I adore the fanart in the GO fandom so much; there are so many amazing artists and there's always so much to discover, it's just incredible! 

goromcom: You chose to adapt Passengers as your rom com. Has this movie been a favorite of yours, or is there some other reason you chose it? 

meowdejavu: Incidentally, it’s not a favorite of mine! Like many others, I have major issues with the plot of the movie and don't consider it a genuine romance. But I chose it because I'm a huge sci-fi nerd, and I love writing the ineffable husbands in a futuristic setting, as I’ve done with a few previous fics. I was actually already tossing around the idea of a far future fic involving a (conscious) human space colony (which I'll probably still write as a completely separate thing), and the Passengers setting provides a really interesting alternate context to play with. The post-canon possibilities are endless with immortal characters! 

goromcom: Oh, agreed on the problematic features of the Passengers storyline, but it sounds like you are doing a righteous job of adjusting things for your adaptation.

Given that, this next bit might be an odd question, but: What's your favorite moment of your movie, and are you looking forward to presenting it in your adaptation? Any loose plans for that scene that you can share?

meowdejavu: My favorite moments are the ones where we get to see the Avalon starship in all its glory—it’s a stunning creation with so much cool world-building! But since the alleged romance turned out to be so disappointing/icky, it felt like that awesome setting was wasted on a blah story. As far as a specific scene teaser, there’s a cool moment at the end of the movie where the SPOILERS FOR PASSENGERS passengers wake up to find a huge garden in the middle of the ship. END SPOILERS My passengers do wake up to a surprise, but it’s very different.  

goromcom: Oh, see, I’m a fan of space exploration in general, so that sounds amazing!

It seems like you’re making some changes to the story beats of the original movie. Anything else you’d like to share about that?

meowdejavu: I'm making big changes, for sure. There will be no spaceship cyber-stalker in my story, for one thing. And Aziraphale won't be a robot bartender, heh. :) I'm excited about placing these characters in this setting and creating a feel-good (and hopefully funny!) romantic story. 

goromcom: Other than these pretty major alterations, could I ask if there’s one more interesting decision you've made in your planning so far that you can share--a notable casting decision, a changing of venue, or some other plan you have to paint Good Omens all over your rom com?

meowdejavu: Okay, I'm pumped about this: My fic begins in present day on the planet Homestead II, the Avalon’s final destination, a few centuries after the new settlement was established. And the story of the journey to that planet (which may have included some ~guardian angels~ secretly hitching a ride alongside the hibernating human passengers) unfolds in a flashback storyline that (hopefully) contrasts with the present storyline in a really fun way.

goromcom: Oh, that structure sounds quite compelling! I can’t wait.

I can hardly ask you for more details than this, or you’ll give the whole game away. Let’s move on to the last question, which I’ve blatantly stolen from The Good Place: The Podcast: Tell me something "good". It can be something big or small. It can be a charity you think is doing good work, or you can talk about how great your pet is.

meowdejavu: Well, a good thing for me right now is that I recently moved into my own solo place for the first time! It’s been somewhat stressful, but I have to say that having this fluffy fic to focus on in my downtime has been really nice. Also, my dad gifted me a snake plant for the new place, and I’ve obviously named it Crowley, because what else?! Snake plant Crowley lives next to my bookshelf. ♥

An important comment from a Glitch Techs board artist!

Hey guys! Phil here. I'm actually a board artist on the show (I'm the dingus in the bottom right corner of that crew photo.), and I wanted to chime in here for a sec and give you guys the lowdown. For starters, thank you all SO much for the support in the comments. We've been working on this show since.. man.. 2016? It's been a long ride. My fellow crew members and I have really put everything we had into it, and it's hopefully going to blow you all away. The last two days have been super weird. We were just as surprised as you all are now. Most of the story team actually got up and went on a hike this morning because, hey, why not right? But it's been a long two and a half years on GT. Eric and Dan are amazing showrunners. Trust me when I say this one is something special. Which brings me to the second bit- and this is something I really want to clarify- Glitch Techs is NOT cancelled. It is still going to air! I know Vailskibum talked about this in the video and definitely did mention it, but I wanted to reiterate. If you're already interested in the show, please, please tune in and watch! That being said, I don't have an air date to give to you all. I'm 100% sure Eric will put it on his instagram as soon as he's able, but for now, stay posted. I'd leave my IG handle here but that seems too self-serving and most of my content is just dogs  and post-it doodles so... maybe not. Go follow Jules at wolfsteak on IG. He was the guy in that interview in the video, and he's one of my best friends. He's also talked about this whole thing a fair bit on his twitter. But legit, look up any of the board artists that work on glitch, and I guarantee you'll see us shouting the airdate from the mountaintops as soon as we find out.

Now, realtalk. First off, thanks to Vailskibum for making this video. Having you guys on our side is a good feeling. Again, we've put blood sweat and tears into this show, and to see you all so excited for original content is heartwarming. I keep searching the internet for leaks every day, hoping you guys have found more art or made more fanart, etc. SO many awesome sketches of Miko that I've seen, and a few of [redacted]. Actually, have y'all found out his name yet? I know 4chan leaked some stuff. Anyways, there's one bit that I want to talk about here, and that's a line around the middle of the vid that discusses why Nick halted season 2. I'm going to be blunt- straight up, I have no idea. But it isn't for lack of enthusiasm. The network, the show runners, all of us- literally everyone at Nick is SO hyped for this show. I'm telling you, Ian Graham, our SP, worked on Avatar, Korra, Zim, etc- and I can't quote him directly, but every time there's a lock animatic screening all he tells me about is how hyped the execs are for this. And he's seen some amazing work come through this network. To Vailskibum's credit, his guess makes sense. I'm not trying to undercut anybody here or jump in at the last second with a "well actually" comment. I just want to have a dialogue with you guys- the people we're making this show for. The viewers that seek out this content and want it, and support it before it's ever even seen the light of day. I'm not going to lie and say that there are some things I can't talk about. But I want you all to hopefully know and believe me when I say that Nickelodeon, and specifically the Glitch Techs show-runners, are flat out amazing. It's easy to think of a big network like this as a machine sometimes, and I certainly wont defend every decision that has been made in the past (mostly because I've only been there for 5 years), but I also don't want you to walk away from this video thinking that they're some evil corporate monster that set out to shut us down. I think Nick is on its way somewhere great. Glitch Techs is a huge stepping stone towards that path.

I've said a lot, so bare with me. Ultimately, I'd ask that you guys check the show out when it comes out. It's going to freaking rock. I know that sounds like a no-brainer statement from someone that worked on it, but trust me on this one. I can fully admit when my art is bad. I'll be the first person to tell you- but this ain't that. Everyone on this crew has a passion for storytelling, games, movies- you name it. We want to entertain you guys. I live for those "hell yeah" moments in movies. Han Solo taking out those tie fighters in A New Hope still gives me chills. And I don't claim to know what the future is for Glitch Techs, but I'll say this- if you want to see more, watch more. Let the network know! Nickelodeon has a social media team that actively DOES listen to you guys. I know Narbeh pretty well, and he WANTS to hear from you all. Like, if you've made a video about Nick in the past, I guarantee you that we've all probably watched it. We love seeing you guys get hyped for things. We read these comments, and so does the network. We live in an age where social media is so omnipresent, and fan influence has the ability to do amazing things. Be respectful of course, but if you're a fan of the show when it airs and you want more, voice it! I know I'm beating the proverbial horse here, but I love this show. It's true, season 2 is on pause. It happens, and that's just life sometimes. There's no denying that. But YOUR reaction shapes this. We do this all for you. Without you there is no Nickelodeon.

Coming soon: another post where I'll pick my favourite fics posted by other writers in each month of the year, which will (hopefully) help other writers feel good and (also hopefully) give readers something new to enjoy, or remind them to revisit a favourite. (This one will be hard because of all the quality fic that’s been posted this year, but I’ll do my best!)

My 2018 Fic Review Roundup

January – Queen of Swords (T)

ST:DSC, ST:MU | Mirror Burnham x Mirror Lorca, Mirror Georgiou x Mirror Lorca

Okay, so I didn’t have a whole lot of choice for this month because this was the only fic I wrote. Nonetheless, I don’t hate it. I’m grateful to Discovery for exciting my spleen over the Mirror Universe status of Gabriel Lorca (about which I am still, and will forever be, bitter) as it was the only thing that inspired me to write about anything during my post-Christmas mental wasteland.

It’s about Mirror Michael Burnham’s competitive, twisted affair with Mirror Lorca, but it’s really more about the toxic relationship between Burnham and her foster mother, Emperor Georgiou. It’s about escaping abuse and trying to find a new, better way, but not having the tools to do so. It’s about being caught between loyalties and being unable to choose. And there are some heavy Macbeth references in there, but I see Michael more in the role of Hamlet, though her fate at the end of the story is ambiguous.

February – Open Hand (M)

ST:VOY | Janeway x Chakotay

This was another dry month for the muse, so again, I had only one choice for Fic of the Month, and it was one I’d never planned on writing. @writtenndust commented in a discord chat about the role played by Janeway’s and Chakotay’s hands in a number of episodes throughout the show (these are the things we shippers analyse in crazy detail), and I suddenly couldn’t stop thinking about hand-clasping being the most contact we saw in canon between these two and how many opportunities were missed, and then I climbed inside Janeway’s head as she was debriefed post-homecoming and she got very introspective about it.

I really like this fic. I like its melancholy feel, Janeway’s self-understanding and her calm acceptance that sometimes you don’t get the fairytale ending. And I like that we do get the fairytale after all.

March – Warmth and Colour (T)

ST:TNG | Guinan x Lwaxana Troi

Once again, the only fic I published all month (are we sensing a pattern here?) This one was for @gluecookie for the Trek Rarepair Swap, and I don’t mind admitting that it took forever to get into. I absolutely love both of these characters but I’d never thought about shipping them before, and I couldn’t word for some reason, and the more I tried to find the right angle the more twisted up I got. In the end, though I’d wanted to give my recipient something meatier, I ended up with a pretty light story full of banter and a couple of slightly more serious personal revelations.

The most amazing thing about this story? My recipient not only loved it, they gifted me back with fanart they drew themselves. This is the most wonderful thing that can happen to a fanfic writer! (Incidentally, I’ve been lucky enough to have been gifted a soundtrack for The Bitter End by @cheile and a moodboard for Laced and Bound by @supernovacoffee and I couldn’t be happier about it.) And I’m actually planning a sequel to Warmth and Colour, hopefully sometime early in 2019.

April – Displaced (T)

ST:TNG, ST:DSC, ST:MU | Lorca x Garrett

What do you know, I have two fics and two drabbles to choose from this month!

This is one of the weirder fics I’ve written. It not only involves an impossible pairing (Rachel Garrett is from a different century to Gabriel Lorca), it’s set on an alternate plane of existence: both of them are dead, and they meet in some kind of limbo or spiritual waiting room. Each of them has one last chance to connect with another human being, but then each gets to make the choice between life and death.

This story is also an attempt to explain what happened to Prime Lorca, and it’s not a happy ending; there’s a sequel, In the Wrong Light, that’s a whole lot darker than this fic.

May – Abandoned (M)

ST:VOY | Janeway x Torres

Wow, May was a great month for writing – I bashed out 10 fics in 3 fandoms at a total of over 25,000 words! This was mainly thanks to the inspiring prompt memes on tumblr – a kiss + a ship and six sexy words – and consequently, most of these works veered on the nsfw side. (I have a stack more prompts to write to in 2019, as well.)

As for a favourite? I’m going to have to go with Abandoned. It’s set during Year of Hell, one of my all-time favourite Voyager episodes, and it’s hurt/comfort and angst, and it’s about love that’s unspoken and complicated but no less real for it. And I like B’Elanna being the strong one for the captain, because in canon we only really get to see Janeway being strong for her.

June – To Those Who Wait (M)

ST:VOY | Sekaya x Phoebe Janeway

This is actually a work in progress – I’ve planned another three chapters – and it fits into a larger universe of loosely-connected stories that @jhelenoftrek and I have been blathering about for over a year now and we are definitely going to get started on the series that brings them all together in 2019, aren’t we Helen?

Anyway, I’m fond of this story. It was a birthday present for Helen in which I tried to combine a number of her favourite things because she’s one of my favourite people, and it’s the only Sekaya x Phoebe Janeway story on AO3, which is kind of cool. And Phoebe is sexy and angry and mouthy, and Sekaya is gorgeous and lonely and rebellious, and Mark is weird and self-aware and ridiculously in love with Kathryn, who’s damaged and brave and brittle, and Chakotay is confident and sarcastic and big-brotherly and has no idea of the tragedy that’s in store for him and his sister.

And J/C pass like ships in the night long before they meet in canon, and their siblings have a passionate, tempestuous one-night-stand which (spoiler alert) isn’t going to fit the one-night-stand category in the end.

July – Trigger (E)

ST:VOY | Janeway x Chakotay

Another fic prompted by tumblr memes, and one I’d been wanting to write for quite a while. It’s not my only Equinox-inspired fic (another of my favourite episodes) and probably won’t be my last. I wanted to explore Janeway’s loss of control in this one – her anger and bitterness and rage, and the way she takes them out on the people she loves – and I wanted more of Chakotay supporting her publicly but in private, not backing down one whit.

And I wanted really hot sex. Hopefully I achieved that.

(August and September are fic-free because I was posting The Epic. I’ll come back to that one.)

October – Nothing Like a Dame (T)

ST:VOY | Paris x Torres

Ah, fictober, how I loved you. For those who don’t already know, I decided to embark on fictober at approximately 8pm on September 30, despite having a thousand other things I should have been committing to. Just to make it trickier, I also decided I would write a missing-scene ficlet to every single daily prompt, and I’d keep it canon-consistent and in order of episode airing. As you can imagine, this was quite a challenge, and resulted in me producing almost 29,000 words in a single month.

Of these 31 ficlets, I think this one is my favourite. The two protagonists aren’t even really main characters on the show – they’re mindwiped alter egos in a World War II holodeck program – but they’re still relatable both to the show’s characters and to the world today. What ‘Brigitte’ experiences as a collaborateur horizontale is the kind of thing women go through in every war, and what ‘Bobby’ learns from her is a lesson a lot of men in power today could stand to learn.

It’s also given me an idea for a Killing Game-based fic series, so stay tuned for that, sometime in 2027, probably.

(November is fic-free because I hate the only fic I posted that month so much I deleted it from AO3)

December – Desperate Measures (E)

ST:VOY | Janeway x Chakotay, Janeway x other male, Chakotay x Seven, Kim x Seven

I mean, I had to include The Epic. And strictly speaking I’ve been writing it for well over a year, but it counts. At over 70,000 words so far – my longest fic to date – it absobloodylutely counts.

This is an Endgame-fixing post-DQ action adventure featuring angst, romance, conspiracy, drama and smut. Perfect for the holiday season, right? (And no promises, but I’ll do my level best to finish it before the end of January!)

Fictional characters you relate most to?

I don’t really know... I love characters and I find myself in most but not in one specific person per say but if I had to narrow it down to the most I would probably Leo Valdez, Anne Kirrin, Alex Bailey, Stiles Stilinski and Constance Bonacieux. I know that's a lot but there are some that cater to when I'm more girly or manly and some when I'm feeling mature and others a bit of both. I relate to them because they are realistic and like me so....

Book you can read over and over without getting tired of it?

Fablehaven, Heroes of Olympus and the famous five series are probably my go to book series along with the Cat Royal series and The land of stories.

Seriously all of these are amazing and you should all go read these!!!

Which fictional character/s are you most defensive over?

Piper McLean!!!!! SHE IS SO POWERFUL AND BADASS and everyone sleeps on her! IFrom the same book Leo Valdez. He is pretty popular in the fandom but people often make him the butt of jokes or overplay his ADHD and make him te weird seventh wheel whilst, in reality, he has two awesome best friends (Piper and Jason) and he is really smart. (For crap's sake He was doing college work when he was in primary school!!!!!!)

And Finally Stiles Stilinski. Everyone makes him goofy and totally stalkerish in his love life. Whilst he is goofy and clumsy pus has bad crushes he definitely is NOT that bad. Everyone writes him as weak and defenseless or as if he isn't really pack orrrrr erases his friendships/love life to put him with sorta friends who were really mean witches to him. Also, he has a spark and is the son of the sheriff. I don't care if its canon that he cants handle weapons. He so can and probably know self-defense as well. PLUS he did amazingly at lacrosse when he actually tried and had a chance but in canon (and even by the fandom) they make him bad at lacrosse and puny.

I'm sorry I know I’m writing too much... I just need to rant (I'm in a mood :( )

Show you fell out of love with?

Downton Abbey, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of tomorrow. I was away for a while with no technology/wifi and that meant I had a lot to catch up on. Also, the episode to catch up on was a three-part crossover and it was just too much for me to deal with and watch all three shows for that ep. Arrow I just sort of stopped watching, no real reason just didn't enjoy it as much I guess.  Downton Abbey, I  had only seen from around season 4 onwards so just stopped after a while during the wait for the new season.

Vampire Diaries. I wanted to watch it but never got round to it until my friend made me watch it and in return would watch my show. Being forced to watch it made it lose its appeal to me near the end of the season.

Once upon a time. Not really a reason. I hope to start it again soon though.

What’s your aesthetic?

I don’t really have one?? On Tumblr, I’m probably just known for posting basically everything from tv shows, vines, memes and fic/fanart. I probably make my own post once every 300 😅. I go from not posting anything to reposting 35 in one day so...

I love other aesthetics and hope to maybe have one in the future?  Some kind of artist, world traveler, magic, great sense of humor. bright smiles, surrounded by love, mythology and spiritualism, big city black and white studio apartment, cottage house in the woods with roses and ivy, caramel and chocolate and oversized sweaters, stargazing, cute animals, fairy lights, plants, comforters and fluffy pillows,scented candles in pretty holders that cast reflections on my walls ... Hopefully one day right?

(I do have some of these aesthetics but only in my room..)

Don’t worry about it, I admit that Stoki is pretty much a crack ship ^^;;

And, well, the redemption fic I mentioned helped me fall deeper into Stoki hell, but I shipped it even before that XD I think part of it is just because I think they could have a really interesting dynamic- they’re just so different, complete opposites. Steve would confuse Loki so much tbh

Also, I just think that Steve (or at least, post-CW Steve) might be one of the avengers most willing to at least try to understand Loki. Partly because Steve’s just a nice guy, and then because of his relationship with Bucky- ‘cause Steve-Bucky and Thor-Loki are really, really similar and I think Steve would realize that.

And then like I said, Steve cares a lot about other people. If Thor ever told him about everything that happened between him and Loki Steve probably wouldn’t have too much difficulty in starting to see Loki as a human(?) being instead of some one-dimensional fairy tale villain.

Lastly, I feel like Steve is just the best person to handle Loki’s issues. He may not be able to personally relate to a lot of it (Tony, Bruce, maybe Natasha would be better for that) but he can take a step back and think rationally about the situation, help convince Loki that just because the rest of the world sees him as a monster, doesn’t mean he has to be one.

Why do I want these memes to be a thing

With the new revelation about who Touka was visiting at the hospital, I’m beginning to have my doubts about how this will end…maybe they might actually both survive for now???

But I’m a bit miserable rn because if one of them has to die I’d rather keep Juuzou too but it seems much more likely for Touka to survive. She’s like the main female lead, plus she has Kaneki’s baby…

(And yeah, I know that SE has some pretty complex characters and interesting stories in it :D it’s just still a lot lighter and has different themes from the mangas I usually enjoy ^^ I might try it out though!)

Death The Kid seems really cool! (does he really have OCD in canon, though? Like, I’ve seen a lot of Soul Eater fans talking like he does but idk if it’s actually a thing? Maybe I sound weird but it just seems insensitive to say characters like DTK and Levi have 'OCD’ and talking about it jokingly when it’s actually incredibly difficult and stressful for people who actully have OCD, so I’m not sure how to feel about those fans)

(But hey, don’t be too sad (what’s this? Is Evans actually COMFORTING Queen Luna for once instead of rubbing salt in the wound?!)! There’s always the book Death Note: Another Note (The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases)- it’s a prequel to the Death Note manga/anime with L chasing a murderer known as Beyond Birthday (…no comment on that alias). It also shows how he met Naomi Misora which is awesome if you like Naomi (I did, and kinda screamed when Light kiled her))

Eh, I think I’m one of the few people who doesn’t mind it being set in America because what’s the point of making an American adaptation if it’s going to be set in Japan anyway? I also don’t really have a problem with 'white-washing’ for this same reason (though I am disappointed because being Japanese-American would have added an interesting layer to Light’s character; despite fighting for justice, in canon, LIght’s never actually been victimized or discriminated against. He’s a handsome, intelligent young man who appears to be cisgender and heterosexual (even if it’s never confirmed) and is Japanese, just like everyone else around him. Japanese-American Light, on the other hand, would have really experienced how the 'rotten’ world could hurt people, so his acts as Kira might have more personal emotion in them)…like, it’s possible to cast a white actor as Light without it being white-washing, and since they changed the entire setting I think it’s fine to change other things too. Just, I’m cool with anything as long as they portrayed Light’s character properly…BUT THEY DIDN’T SO

I’m really just disappointed that they botched the characters and all the themes of the original Death Note story so badly. Sure, change the setting, change the circumstances, change the plot, changehe designs, but why did you have to take Death Note’s philosophy away?

But, because I might have been a bit too mean:

I will say that the movie LOOKS really good. The visuals are great. The soundtrack seems decent too. Also, though Ryuk’s motivations/role also weren’t done very well, Ryuk’s actor did an amazing job…and while I’m not happy with how L was portrayed in this movie, I do think that the actor they cast for him could have been a good L if not for the bad writing.

Well…from what I know, Light Turner ends up in a hospital at the end of the movie with his One True Love Mia(Misa) dead, so nah. The Keikaku failed.

(which just proves that Light Turner really is nothing like Light Yagami, because Light Yagami’s keikakus never fail.

Until the end of the Death note manga/anime, that is.)

Yeah, I know about SU’s terrible fandom, so I’m not going to actively participate in writing fanfic, drawing fan art or making HCs/theories with other people…I’m just gonna watch the show with my sister and look at pretty fanart XD

For most people, they start going to elementary at seven (in international age) as far as I know, and then go to middle school at around thirteen. Then high school at…um…sixteen? Maybe? I’ve never really gone to school here so I might not be 100% correct but it’s something like that ^^;;

HNNNNNNNNGH have i ever told you how much i hate school?  because i freaking hate school from the bottom of my heart i can’t feel my neck anymore from the amount of studying ive been doing that’s depressing.

anyway. heartfelt advice: do not fuck your stomach up in any way, because you will suffer if you do. take it from me, i’ve managed to develop this amazing thing called Gastritis and now i cant eat anything without getting the feeling that im gonna throw it back out which is absolutely wonderful. thankfully, i don’t throw up, but it’s freaking annoying and ive lost waay too much weight already. best part? the whole reason why i have it is apparently purely psychological,  too much stress. i got it in the middle of july. HOW my mom is also being INCREDIBLY helpful by basically telling me to ‘get over it’ like i can just snap my fingers and tell myself ‘oh yeah this is only in my head’ and it’ll all pass over. cause that’s how it works.  so is my sister by always laughing at me

yep, school started and i am suffering. ive already gone through 4 tests and a bunch of oral quizzes. yay. thanks teachers for totally not putting horrible pressure on us from the start.  i stg, one of my most common thoughts these days is ‘see, this is exactly why i have a psychosomatic sickness.’ they’re sending my to a psychologist to see if i can let everything out and maybe get some advice on how to handle things better. i will laugh my ass off if i get diagnosed with a mental disorder. that’d be absolutely hilarious (I am in no way trying to make fun of people with a mental disorder, I’m just saying I honestly wouldn’t even be surprised if they said something like Burnout Syndrome or Depression (im not even joking when I say that I’ve been sleeping pretty much all afternoon + night these days, cry way too often, feel no motivation for anything, feel worthless, no apetite and also occasional suicidal thoughts which is oh so fun (ok but in my defence, the thoughts are really rare, probably caused by the fact that I feel nauseous like 90% of the time, and I would never ever do it, mostly because some people would miss me (I hope). there are moments when I go ‘wouldn’t it be easier to disappear?’ tho))

I fell asleep in the car at one point while watching the scenery outside, and it was one of the best sleeps in my life, despite being in the car. Hey guys! In case you haven’t seen me around in the cartoon fandom part of tumblr, my nickname is Princess and that’s what I let everyone call me publicly. I’ve been on tumblr ever since 2012 and since I joined the main part of my blog has mostly been cartoons and animation. Particularly right now Star Vs The Forces Of Evil, Ever After High and The Loud House. I’m even a mod with @queenbean03 on the blogs for Janstar and Jarco week.

But recently, something hasn’t felt right with me in terms of where I’m at with fandoms at the moment. I of course still love cartoons and animation and it will always hold a special place in my heart. (Particularly eah, which is a fandom I don’t really see leaving anytime soon) but I feel like I’ve been forcing myself to still like them because all the friends I’ve made on this blog have been from those fandoms and it’s what I’ve started this blog from and I don’t want to dissatisfy them and make them unfollow me.

This feeling started last year when I got into bandom and used to reblog posts about bands I liked onto , every-time I reblogged that stuff I felt insecure, not only cause this was a new thing for my blog, but also because I was scared that it wouldn't be received well and you'd be annoyed with seeing it on your dash when you wanted and followed me for something else. I got so insecure about it that I decided to make a sideblog just for bandom stuff that hopefully a different crowd on this app/website would appreciate. ~ ~ Right now I've noticed that I've slowly been losing interest in cartoon fandoms and having less of a need to make content for them. First it was Monster High, mainly because of a pesky person in that fandom trying to peddle free art out of me! (Although I don't do commissions, I was just sick of that person trying to get free art of toralei doing literally mostly the same things) and then it happened next with SVTFOE after the first Janstar and Jarco weeks had happened and I was losing interest in the show apart from the ships and finding it hard to catch up with all the new plot twists. And then finally with the loud house and Steven Universe where a similar thing happened to me. ~ ~ At first I denied it because I still didn't want my followers to be unhappy with me, but also I knew deep down I my heart I wasn't becoming interested in TV shows anymore, I was instead gravitating interest either towards my own original ideas or bands I liked and sometimes eah. And then recently, Queenie said that there's going to be another janstar week and potentially a jarco week and I felt extremely bad that I wasn't really an active mod on those blogs anymore, every-time I got a new notification for something she had posted on there I always felt super bad about it because I was the one who had co created those blogs and now I was just neglecting them! ~ ~ After all these events happening, I've finally made a decision that will definitely change my blog and make me lose a few followers, but I honestly don't care now! I'm now doing what makes me happy and what makes my followers happy, because I would rather be hated for who I'am, than loved for who I'am not. I'm going to mostly retire from posting cartoon related content apart from eah and original content including my own. I'm not going to entirely stop, but I'm going mostly restrain from this kind of stuff because I've found its what's been burdening me a lot lately! Here's a small list of changes I will be making. ~ ~ - I WILL STILL POST EAH CONTENT! I love this show way too much to leave its fandom forever after and you guys in that fandom are some of my best friends ever and have supported me so much throughout my artistic journey. ~ - I will sometimes still post The Loud House content relating to anti-loudcest stuff and content by anti-loudcesters I like so that you guys can get recognition because you really do deserve it! ~ - I will still reblog things like fanart and stuff like that, but only if I'm really impressed by it, or I'm boosting a friend's work. ~ - I will still be friends with my amazing mutuals because you guys have supported me through so much and I will never leave you! Best friends until the end of the Internet! ~ - The majority of my revamped blog will now be Aesthetics, original art, ever after high, funny things, social justice and Dan and Phil/other youtubers. ~ - I won't be an active mod on @janstarweek2016 or @jarcoweek2016 anymore, but the blogs will still be kept and if you still want to ask me simple questions about ships you can direct these to me. But I won't answer story prompts/headcanons etc, but Queenie will answer instead. (I'll have to talk with her further about this) ~ - I won't be the most active person on tumblr now, mainly because of other distractions like school and Instagram but if you still want to talk to me I will answer all your questions and have conversations with you about anything if you PM me. ~ That's all folks that will be happening but if you have any questions, please ask or PM me and I will tell you. I truly love you guys and I love posting things for my over one hundred followers, but however I have to think about what's best for myself too and I've found that this is what is best for me. Thank you to my amazing mutuals for sticking with me through thick and thin and being some of my best friends in the world! One more thing I also tell of you guys is, if you guys like bands in the "emo" or "pop punk" genre and awesome alternative music of all kinds you guys can follow @themissingway my music blog. It has nearly all types of music but mostly P!atd and Mcr because they are currently my favourite things at the moment. okay.. well.. I may as well actually talk about this

I got the intial news like almost a month ago now, but its only now that I have more details and I’m actually going to the first meeting tomorrow. Also i was just so nervous I didnt know how to talk about it until now. So umm.. yeah! The long version under the cut, but in summary: I may be going somewhere soon, and for potentially 4-6 months. I may or may not have much access to the internet. But this is hopefully gonna help my mental health, I hope. And I have this money in my savings now I wanna keep it as a ‘reward’ of sorts after I finish this, and I’m really hoping to be able to take a holiday to america and visit at least one of my friends, depending on how many states I’m able to cross on this budget. And hopefully I might actually be more prepared for such a big journey, and if its my reward then I’ll be able to not give up!! No matter what!! So yeah more under the cut, umm:

I may be going to an intensive therapy location. Its a communal housing area with therapy support workers and a course that I have to go through. i’ve been repeatedly reassured that it isn’t as bad as some terrifying places I’ve heard of on the internet, its a confirmed NHS-funded health facility and its supposed to be more of a communal house than like.. a prison with electroshock ‘therapy’. I dont really have any info on it yet though, but thats what I’m doing tomorrow- im finally actually having a meeting with them and getting to see the house before I move there, and ask questions and stuff. And my support worker says that if I say no I don’t have to go. But I really want to go if it really is what it says it is! OF COURSE I want to go to a therapy activity camp course that can hopefully help me conquer my anxiety faster! its just that well.. because i have ANXIETY, i cant help but frantically research on the internet and come to the worst conclusions and assume thats what’s gonna happen, and its all a scary scam... Anyway, at the moment all I know is that I won’t be locked up in there with no freedoms, and there will be other patients too and hopefully I can make friends maybe, but also im terrified I’ll make a bad impression and i’ll be the worst person there while everyone else progresses and I don’t.. gah...

But even if this place is wonderful and amazing and has zero scary asylum stuff, its still quite likely that I won’t have internet while I’m there, so i wont be able to keep in touch with you all. I can access limited internet on my phone but the browser cant even handle running youtube so im not gonna be as active. Also I cant afford a huge amount of mobile data and all. But I just hope I can indeed keep phone internet enough to be able to message my friends if I’m having a bad day and stuff. i dunno if any of you would even remember me if I vanished for half a year, lol... But like.. if you do still wanna be friends after not seeing me for ages, I really do wanna try and visit america and meet some of you guys! (and if I could afford it, I’d wanna visit other countries too, I’m just picking america first cos I speak the language and I know the most friends who live there) Oh and umm.. if I’m gonna be gone for a long time I probably will need stuff to help me keep calm and keep going and stuff. I save all the fanarts I get from my best friends, they really fill me with love! But I’d love if also maybe when I leave I might ask you guys if you could leave me a message maybe. like, if I can find some way i can get all the messages without reading them. And then if I’m ever having a big panic attack, i can read them then and hopefully it’ll help me feel better! (tho lol if i opened that up to anybody then that weird recurring anon hater might troll me, so I’d like to just reserve it to close friends maybe) Oh, or maybe I could ask you guys to leave me drawing requests or writing requests or memes and stuff that I can work on while I’m gone? I suck at knowing what to draw, after all. And I also suck at being super slow to finish drawing, so this way it all works out!

But umm yeah basically, I’ll know more tomorrow when i go to meet them and have a tour. And I;m really anxious but also kinda excited, I hope it really helps me! But I’m still anxious and.. aaa... I just had to vent a bit to try and stay calm so I make a good first impression. i bought some new clothes to wear and I’m making sure my hair dye is even, cos I didnt have enough time to un-dye it back to a presentable colour :P

Oh and umm... its VERY UNLIKELY, so please dont worry! I don’t want to spread my worry to my friends! But umm.. just in case of the worst case scenario. I was told this would just be a first meeting, its not an intervention, I wont be taken there immediately. And I will be allowed to choose if I go, and all. BUT UMM If I don’t message anyone by this time tomorrow, I guess I didnt come back. I REALLY think I’m just being paranoid and I’m not gonna be locked up in some terrible illegal false therapy place! BUT IF I AM THEN YEAH JUST IN CASE If I am not dead, I will post tomorrow! Even if I’m too stressed and anxious to talk about what happened, I’ll make a short post just to tell you all I’m okay. if I don’t, then things went wrong. BUT THEY WONT! BUT I’M STILL ANXIOUS ABOUT IT! God I’m such an idiot...

also, of course, like usual, I’m still WAY MORE ANXIOUS about being a social failure than I am about dying or being electroshocked in an asylum XD I’m so terrified I’m gonna mess up and make them hate me aaaa I hope it goes well and I get accepted! And I hope the place isnt scary and the course looks like its actually gonna help me, and stuff. I’m way more scared of it being a social gauntlet than the electroshocks ITS NOT GONNA BE THE ELECTROSHOCKS, STUPID BUNNI but aaaa I’d rather have those than have to meet so many strangers, fuckkkk I’ve vented it out so i feel less scared I ate a big fruit smoothie full of powerful energy so I will be strong enough, and I will make another smaller one tomorrow morninG! Or.. umm.. I might be too scared to sleep and just keep going on this one, lol! and I’ve been stewing on it for a month now so a lot of the stress is out and I wrote down a big long list of questions I wanna ask, and I’m gonna have a notebook to write down anything they say and I’m gonna try on my new clothes tonight and get prepared but AAAA I dont have any formal clothes, and I dont know if i should even try and look formal or if i should look like how im gonna look when I’m there the whole time and i dont know if i should try and look as much like a girl as I can for the next six months, or if I should be honest about being trans, or if thats gonna hurt my chances of being accepted or anything... I dont know if my support worker told them when she was filling out the forms... and I keep washing my face trying to make the acne go away aaaaa why am i cursed with eternity acne, why am i the pimply faced teen even into adulthood why am i such a terrible brain broken adult who needs intensive therapy to begin with how on earth can i make myself look presentable when they already know i’m so trash gahHHHHHHHH
