Which Baldur's Gate Characters Know How To Lace Up Their Clothing - Camp Edition

I got this idea because I noticed Gortash's shirt isn't laced properly, and then noticed Astarion's shirt isn't laced properly, so now I need to look at as many characters as I can because I can't stop noticing. And I'm about to spend too much time on this for it to stay in my brain. Starting with all characters who appear at camp (main party + others.)

Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Gale, Withers, Aylin, Mizora, Duke Ravenguard, Emmaline, and Arnell don't have lacing on their camp outfits.

Starting with the default clothes for Tav. Yes, they know how to lace their shirt. Good job. This particular Tav is Durge, so it's good to know he didn't forget how when his brain got Swiss'd. However, it's not perfectly consistent because on the bottom 2 sets of eyelets he threads from the outside, but the third set he threads from the inside. Though this is probably intentional so the lacing doesn't hang on the inside of his shirt, so 9/10.

Astarion, baby boy, you were so close. But unfortunately there are two pairs of eyelets where he threads one side from the outside and one from the inside. For someone who wants to appear so put together, you think he could take the two extra braincells to lace his shirt consistently. 7/10.

Threaded consistently the whole way through...with one side. Why didn't you finish lacing your shirt? Why even lace one side if you weren't going to lace the other? Why isn't the lacing that you didn't finish shorter than the one that you did finish? All questions I can't answer because I cannot ask. 7/10 at least it's consistent.

I couldn't get a good in game screenshot of Karlach since her lacing is on her pants, but I found a texture rip so I can work with it. So the lacing here is the same all the way through, super consistent, *mwah*, but...it's sneakily unnecessarily complicated. Typically, the lacing that laces from the inside to outside would sit on top, but it's not that way on her pants. She pulls the lacing through the eyelet, then threads it under the other part of the cross, then threads it through the top of the next eyelet. And with as much lacing as her pants have, this must have taken forever for no extra benefit. It would have been easier to let it sit on top. 8/10 its pretty though.

Halsin. Beautiful. Gorgeous. I choose to believe the knots are hidden on the inside. No other notes. 10/10.

I've never actually recruited Minthara so I took a picture from the BG3 wiki. Just like Halsin, beautiful. Again, I choose to believe the ends are hidden on the inside. 10/10.

Jaheira's pants lace the same way Halsin's shirt does: perfectly. Though if the knot is hidden on the inside, I feel like that would be more uncomfortable, so I'm gonna headcannon that it ties at her waist under her shirt. Other than that, 10/10.

Minsc's shirt uses the same model as Wyll's so everything I said there applies here, though I feel like it makes more sense for Minsc. My real gripe here is that Minsc is a liar. Talking 'bout some thrice laced pants, but I didn't see any lacing on those pants. How dare he trick me in this way. 6/10 I don't like being lied to.

Yenna's mom may be dead, but she made sure her baby knew how to lace her shirt before she did. She may have gotten kidnapped by Orin, but she looked put together while doing it. Perfect 10/10. She deserves it after what she went through.

After being dead for 100 years, Isobel didn't forget how to lace her armor. Gotta be put together to see her girlfriend again. 10/10 Isobel can do no wrong.

Volo...I don't know what you've done to the front of your pants but it doesn't look good. Some of those crosses are missing. It looks sloppy. What is this. This is something I would do as a joke to see if anyone noticed. Well I noticed and I hate it. 2/10 it keeps your pants closed I guess.

i had a much more solid idea about where i was going with Zelda than with Link but some of it is kinda abstract or weird lol

we know a fair amount about her upbringing in general, or can infer as much from Zelda's interactions with her father and what they and people around them wrote. she was clearly a smart and vivacious kid with a strong personality from the start, no matter how much you sort of squash that shit for the public face, repression etc. so yknow, her mother's death when she was 6, awful. her father's change in attitude especially in her teens, awful. being under public scrutiny her whole life, awful. restrictive structure of royal life, dull (i bet it bored Zelda to death at times no matter how strongly duty-oriented she is). having said that though, she got by and just by looking at her study, she clearly got stuff done to herself - you can take the kid away from the science but the science stays with the kid !!!

additionally, forgive me for mentioning ... timelines ... but in my humble onion, BotW/TotK serve as a Dragon-Break scenario which are SO far in the future from other entries that ALL timelines will inevitably converge and lead to that point, so it doesnt matter any more (i dont like extended Timeline theory, Nindooty doesnt like extended Timeline theory, the current writing team seem to want shot of it, let me be). being a history guy i also subscribe to leaning on the LEGEND aspect of 100 and 1000 year games of telephone, it makes things spicy. tradition is a strange thing, we do things we dont have much of a context for anymore, we're still living with the cultural hangovers of people living when mammoths were around and no thats not hyperbole lol its WILD. ive typed around the point enough lets get going

*this is part of the Japanese translation, at least in Kass' final song Zelda is referred to as an term roughly meaning Priestess-Princess - which makes total sense to me

Let's talk that stupid ass strategy bc my head is still hot and not even an effing long run did it's job (yes I thouched some grass while at it)

Mercedes changed that whole damn setup from Friday to Saturday and had almost no real data on long runs (from what I recall they did 2 laps on hards with Lewis and that was it)

They decide to go on a gamble starting with USED softs in a track where tyre management and track position is key

Even if Lewis has a miraculous start and jumps to p1 even, then what? He still needs to pit early, he still needs to go through the field and wait for others to pit, he still needs to run in dirty air.

Even with every single scenario going just the right way he stills gets to the end of the race with an offsett of at least 12-15 laps older tyres.

And that doesn't even consider the very likely scenario that a SC was a 100% garantee up until this race. Then what? Everyone pits and Lewis stays out bc he was already on the hards and he's left just as vulnerable

They had no idea how the pace of that car would be like. None. Even when they don't dismantle the entire car they have no flipping idea how that car is gonna perform bc it is that unreliable

For effing sake's Ferrari tried that exact same strategy with Charles starting from p3 last year. Know what happened? a p4 with +21s to the ones running with newer tyres (he would've been p5)

And don't even come at me with 'tyre strategies are up to the drivers' bc 1- it isn't, Mercedes has made Lewis go incredibly and unnecessarily long on stints when we had the w10/w11/w12 and have overriden Lewis's decisions on tyres before, 2- didn't Merc learn from Spa that you don't let a driver call the shots when you're the one with the data, when trying to hold a p3 or even losing a position to p4 is miles better than whatever gamble they tried, bc honestly that car even on its best days did not outpace the Mclarens.

Look, i am a big fan of the series, and I was so happy when the new season came out.

And s3 was a bit long for me, in the sense that some scenes were boring, so I wasnt too unhappy with a shorter season.

First of all, the whole Five and Lila relationship.

They are platonic friends, like siblings. Who thought it would be a fun idea to make them romantic all of a sudden?

"Oh, but they got stuck in time for 7 years its only natural"

You have to be shitting me.

I've been celibate for over 7 years, you think I'd date my brothers WIFE if we spend time tgt for those years? No. Fuck no.

It doesnt even seem to click with Five's personality, because he's so insanely loyal and caring towards his family. He would not do that, if we were to follow his personality from s1 to 3.

This brings me to Ben.

I have never been the biggest sparrow Ben fan, I'll admit that. I've always been an umbrella Ben fan and sometimes I wished sparrow Ben was more like him.

So you can imagine, I was happy when he started to appear more caring for Jeniffer.

Until they totally switched up his character.

Yes, he was influenced by the bond (which reminds me of the whole nesting situation of the last episode, which I must admit was very entertaining) which made him more loving yadaydaydaya. But everyone shows their love in a different way, sparrow Ben' type of loving is in no way shape or form sweettalking and grossly cutesy forms of affaction.

You might think so (the writers apparently did) but I surely disagree.

So his personality was, as you might guess, also out of the window.

His talking brings me to my next point. The dialogue.

I'm not sure if its just me, but it was so.goddamn.messy.

It was no dialogue, it was just a bomb of one liners aiming for nothing.

It had no feeling, no personality. Its as if the writers saw the one liners we liked, pasted them into an ai engine, and let it spit out 100 new ones to fill the movie.

I would like to give specific examples, but it happened all.the.time. If you dont believe me, watch the last episode. The only in character person was Victor (even though he's not my bestie, I loved that they stayed true to his character) with wanting to save his siblings, standing up to their father, wanting to keep his peace but always choosing to help his siblings no matter how much they hurt him in the past.

He was the only one who felt like the same person as the other season. Even Reggie was a goddamn mess (and thats something to say about that uptight bastard)

Now this part is purely personal. But the plot? The scenes? The entire construction was such a mess.

First of all. 7 years in that station? 7years? Youre telling me that super smart old man Five didnt think to look at those lines first before stepping in that train? You think "I must know everything and enything about everything and anything" Five didnt look up, took a good glance at those letters and knew. "Mhmm. Thats that weird writing my father used. How bout I try to TRANSLATE it BEFORE i step on this mystery train?"

If you think him stepping on a random train, not even looking at the map he picked up is in charcater? Sincerely, quit shitting my dick cuz no way you think that.

And then him giving up on finding his siblings? He was in an apocalypse for what? 50 years? And he always kept the stupid eye, thinking it might save his siblings. And now, here he is, giving up on them cuz he' a lil lost in daddy's train station?

Babes, you cant be serious.

Im aware that this post is very opinionated, and perhaps negative, but thats just how itll be. But if you feel offended by anything here, I do apologise. I love the series aswell, but his season, felt more like a 12 year old' followup story of season 3 (and that is not to say that 12 yo' cant write, cuz some of them r amazing, but you get the idea) and I cant believe they actually funded this.

And that is not to start about the decisions they made. Ben making them drink the marigold? Five not just going back to that moment if he could time travel (which he coulve bcz him and Lila went back to the "present" which is 7 years earlier than when they were stuck). Then stop them from drinking the Sake/Marigold. Merging the marigold with Jennifer and everything is fixed? Bcz they didnt have their powers anymore?

Either way

I might follow up on this, I might not.

But I do hope that some share my opinion, even if many dont.

Olive aka my idea for Netflix Monkey King's version of the Six Eared Macaque/LEM, has a backstory similar but different from his Cherry/SWK counterpart.

A monkey is hatched from a Stone Egg. However, instead of Flower Fruit Mountain; Olive was "born" on the Moon. Technically in the world of Immortals, Olive originally grew up around them before becoming disgusted by their gluttony and frivilous nature.

Pulled a "I don't want to be a royal/prince(ss)" and escaped to Earth... where they immediately got harassed into living on the outskirts of FFM by the superstitious local monkey demons. A certain red-furred Monkey was the only one that seemed to think Olive's ears were "amazing/awesome!" instead of something to be feared. But he left sometime afterwards for some reason... something about 100 demons?

Olive spent a lot of the last 500 years just travelling, falling into different bad crowds, tricking unwise humans, and getting tangled up in a current celestial uprising.

Olive is mistaken for the Monkey King by people & demons who've only heard stories of Cherry's exploits. A macaque demon with weird physical traits/abilities? Must be the Monkey King.

Olive initially approaches the Pilgrims for a devious plan, but quickly finds himself way underestimating how fast he falls for the red-furred super-powerful himbo. Hopefully these feelings wear off before his boss's plans come into play.

It also gives the pair interesting conflicting ideals of; "wait you rejected living the Celestial Realm/a quiet life on FFM?!"

As for the SWK/LEM child of this verse Xiaoshi ("little rock" cus pebble); Originally I thought to make his creation a "natural" one (wink wink) bonus an accidental prayer to Guanyin. But now Im considering if theme of "rocks" could play an extra part in his creation.

It probably occurs sometime after the initial "betrayal-to-forgiveness-to-maybe lovers?" plotline.

Something like...

(The Pilgrims are staying at a temple of Guanyin. Cherry is trying out this whole prayer thing Tripitaka has been teaching him)

Cherry: "...Amitabha. Hope I did that one right." Olive: "You really think a silly sutra is going to convince the gods to give you what you want?" Cherry, shrugs: "Its a start. If I do enough of them that might let me take this stupid gold headband off." Olive: "Then what?" Cherry: "What?" Olive: "When you get the headband off - what will you pray for?" Cherry: *thinks for a while* Cherry, quietly: "...a family." Olive, softens a bit: "Just... that?" Cherry: "I never had one before. Would be nice to start one. Like, I wanna be the kinda dad that hugs their kid and tells them how much I love them everyday! I wanna start as soon as possible!" Olive, fond laugh: "You might be missing a few steps there, hero." Cherry: "Like what???" Olive: "Like, do you plan on making this family with anyone?" Cherry, confused: "Anyone? No probably- OH. You mean like-!" *blushing snort of laughter* "You mean like with a mate!" Olive: "Yes, my king. Unless you plan on making one out of clay. Or adopting." Cherry: "...you can just do that? Make one out of clay?" Olive: "Huh? No, it's a joke. It's said that the goddess Nuwa made the first humans out of the clay." Cherry, disappointed: "Oh. I still would like to though..." Guanyin, listening in: >:3 *blesses* (later when the gang are camping on the road) Olive: "What are you doing?" Cherry, forming wet clay around a pebble: "Trying to see if I can do the same thing Nuwa did." Olive: "Nuwa was a literal creation goddess, I don't think you could-" Cherry: *has sad hopeful look in his eyes* Olive: *sighs* "Ok, move over. You need something for the clay bind together too." (later) *An "Egg" made of clay, road dust, and whatever they could find is made, and hardening in the sun* Both Monkeys: *covered in filth* Cherry: "That was fun!" Olive: "Surprisingly so." The "Egg": *suddenly starts giving off a weird energy signature* Both Monkeys: Σ( O_O) (O_O ;) Stick, humming: "oh you dum-dums."

Cherry and Olive have an awkward time explaining to the rest of the Pilgrims that they may have accidentally made a new Stone Monkey together. Tripitaka and Zhu Bajie gets grossed out looks on their faces before Sha Wujing whispers that they meant literally - hence the weird clay/stone egg they have wrapped up in a basket.

The Clay Egg bares witness to a lot of weirdness on it's travels with the Pilgrims. Eventually it hatches in a dramatic fashion - only Olive noticed at first cus of super-hearing - and the fight/conflict they were in was immediately forgotten.

An infant monkey falls out of the clay shell, chirping and reaching for a hug. As you can imagine, Olive and Cherry nearly crash into one another answering the baby's request.

Xiaoshi is named for the fact that he started out as "just a pebble".

Also I find it funny if the little monkey known for making art, started out life as a clay art project between his parents. XD

A bit of a disclaimer ig...

Hi guys,

This is going to be a long post that sounds slightly rant-y & I'm going to apologize in advance for that. I am going to make exactly ONE post (this one) about this topic, and I will not be discussing it further or posting about it again. I will also not be responding to any negative comments but deleting them instead.

These are my personal opinions and [...not *trying* to sound rude, but there's no other way to say it...] a bunch of random people online aren't going to change my opinions.

My husband is an artist. He does canvas painting & draws comic books (think anti-hero dark horse). I paint furniture (kinda mini murals) & make chibi drawings. I've also been writing fanfiction since the late 90s.

That being said, this post is about AI art.

I get the controversy, I do. But I've heard this argument before, when fanfiction became more popularized. The whole "You're just stealing someone else's work & changing it up to call it your own" is (at its core) the same argument against AI. The only difference is that instead of you yourself changing it, you're allowing a machine to do it.

But I digress...

Over the last week, I have received several messages about my use of AI art. First & foremost, my stuff is appropriately tagged as AI.

Second, I don't sell or advertise these pictures in any way. In fact, none of them have been posted anywhere but here (as of 6/1/24).

Third, and probably most important, I DONT MAKE THEM FOR YALL. Fanfiction & fanart are a HOBBY. It is something that I do because I enjoy it and it destresses me. I DO NOT do it, hoping I'll get 1000s of followers, views, likes, etc. Every story I write, I print & bind for my library. I will now be doing the same with my AI pictures.

I have a condition that has a symptom called Maladaptive Daydreaming. Because of this, my head is full of an alarming amount of excruciatingly detailed & unrealistic scenarios and images. (To the point that it affects my everyday life).

I can't necessarily recreate the images in my mind without help & the only way to get rid of the random scenarios is to write them out. So I do write them. And now I use AI to help me get a BASE image. I do still go in myself and edit/redraw parts of each generated image to fit them to the characters I want them to represent. I do thus using digital art.

Granted, there's a whole other group of people that think digital art isn't real art... but that's a discussion for another day. Anyway...

TLDR:

I use AI art & will continue to despite some people's dislike. I will continue to delete any and all comments left publicly that are malicious, rude, or condescending. My stories & are are for me. If others enjoy it, great, that's freaking awesome. If not, there are literally thousands of other fanfic authors you can follow instead of me.

Again, I apologize, I know this sounds rude. But I need to be 100% transparent on this one. I am extremely grateful for every folllower & reader I have. I won't lie & say comments/positive interaction isn't a serotonin boost because it is. Yall also give me more motivation to actually complete a story vs. moving on to the next idea. But I'm not going to change the way I do things to appease someone I don't even know.

This is one of the few things I enjoy doing in my free time & have been doing it for 25 years now, and in the last 5 or so years ALL fandoms have gotten so toxic its hard to enjoy anything anymore. Last time it got like this, I simply stopped posting. I'd rather not do that again, but if people (who aren't even following me) don't leave me alone, I'll probably have to do it again, sadly.

But for now, hopefully this post will give people with different opinions to go ahead and block me from their feed. We're not going to agree so instead of wasting energy arguing, let's keep the peace & agree to stay off if each others feeds.

I won't judge you on your idea that you feel it's your duty to harass people over their choices & you won't judge me for enjoying something. 😉

Part of an attempted fic I've been working on coming out in 2 million year. But I think he has mild weird psychic abilities that other gods don't have. Okay one fucked up one. uhh if/when he returns and gets tentatively accepted back into skyworld, he's paranoid and convinced that people are going to try to send him back to the aurum since he became one with them and in his own eyes can't go back to being who he was. He swings between desperation to return to them and desperation to never leave earth again. I’ve compiled data in charts that make sense to me, did some calculations to see some trends, and then listed some of my own insights/interpretations. We’ll see how accurate it feels/whether it resonates with other fans who are into this kinda shit!! BEFORE WE BEGIN, a clarification about players i used in data collection: I referred to the team’s roster (and the position listed for them) per the nhl’s site, and made the decision to exclude players that played ~10 games or less in order to keep data outliers minimal (and to stay true to the team that most people would think of for this season). Also, my percentages will not add up perfectly to 100 every time bc i wanted whole numbers, not decimals. Ok let’s go!

ASTRO TERMINOLOGY INTRO/REFRESHER:

Let’s do a quick rundown of some of the terminology I’ll be using, so then y’all know wtf I’m talking about.

SUN SIGNS 🌞

We are ONLY talking about sun signs (what zodiac sign the sun was passing through during that time of year/on your birthday. This is the same as what sign you say you are when people ask). This is ONE piece of everyone’s chart and, while it is a driving force/important placement, it is not the whole picture. There are other placements that influence us as individuals (moon, mercury, mars, venus). Depending on one’s chart and the placements of those other ‘personal’ planets i just mentioned, the sun sign may not seem very evident in that person. So when i say this player is this sign and it doesn’t resonate, there’s probably some major other planets/signs at play in their chart that dims the sun sign’s influence. But i don’t have access to everyone’s EXACT chart, nor do i have the patience and time to interpret all that, so we’re just doing sun signs. (I’ll touch a little bit on my guesses for what i think is going on in the rest of some of the players’ charts during my interpretation section.)

QUICK REFRESHER: The signs, in order from ‘beginning’ to ‘end’ of the zodiac wheel: aries, taurus, gemini, cancer, leo, virgo, libra, scorpio, sagittarius, capricorn, aquarius, pisces (i will shorten a bunch of these because i’m lazy and don’t want to write them out every time).

Each sign is within an element and a modality. Every sign is unique in terms of its element and modality combo (ie aries is THE cardinal fire sign. There are other fire signs, there are other cardinal signs, but there is no other cardinal fire sign. Hopefully this will make a lil more sense later on.)

Highest sign representation is Pisces at 5 players, with 4 being forwards. Next highest is Aries, with two each for defensemen and goalies and zero forwards. More on these two signs a little later but here’s a quick rundown for each:

🔥Goalies are fire signs exclusively...which is SO intriguing to me. I suppose I can interpret that as fire signs being energetic and action-oriented and goalies can NEVER let up (they must keep the metaphorical fire going).

��️Only sign not present ANYWHERE is Virgo. Not sure what that means but it is interesting to note.

Forwards are DOMINATED by mutable signs while defensemen have mostly cardinal and fixed. Element-wise, defensemen have mostly fire, followed equally by air and water, and forwards have mostly water, followed by air. Here’s what I take away knowing all that: 

Defense needs sustained energy and power (going back and forth/forward and backward), need to anticipate, react, and redirect quickly

Fire: take action, Air: seek knowledge, Water; seek connection Cardinal: assertive, meet the situation head on Fixed: stand one’s ground, patient and stubborn, maintain the energy Defense needs to attack/protect, needs to be thinking ahead, needs to be surveying/observing, get fired up, restart/set the plays/shifts

Forwards, especially when on the offensive, need constant fluidity and motion, need to look for openings, creativity

Water: seek connection, Air: seek knowledge Mutable: flexible/adaptable, weave, dodge, complete the cycle Offense needs to be adaptable and constantly moving/adjusting/trying new paths, respond to situation and make new/different plan, feel connection with others and be willing to sacrifice for the greater good/end goal (literally)

♓️Offense lines have more players and, by natural default, more distribution between signs, elements, and modalities. However, I still think it’s fair to say it’s dominated by those mutable water Pisces players. So the Canucks offense vibe is heavy pisces energy. 

💧🔥This team is primarily water and fire, which is a very passionate, emotional combination. Water is inwardly emotional while fire is outwardly emotional. Both have a creativity innate to them. Both care about others but go about it differently - fire signs are more protective while water signs are more empathetic (not to say each element isn’t both of those things, those traits are just more innate to each). They keep each other in check- fire makes water more active while water keeps fire from raging out of control. They are complementary/equal but opposite. I think pisces and aries being the most represented signs exemplifies this perfectly. 

Pisces is the last sign in the wheel, so sometimes I see it described as being the ‘wisest’ sign (imagine a life cycle - the last stage is the elder who possesses knowledge and wisdom). This is super interesting as aries is the next-most represented sign, which is the first sign/beginning of the wheel, thus they are the ‘babies’ of the zodiac. Again, I would say both signs experience emotion very deeply, though in very different ways. Pisces, mutable water, is deep like the ocean (a more settling/calm energy). Aries, cardinal fire, is reactive like a spark (think energetic jumpstart). I think pisces pulls in/withholds whereas aries pushes out/releases. This can obviously present difficulties, but there is also a balance to be struck, especially in a team environment, that I think can provide a natural give and take amongst players.

💥🪨💫The modalities are well-represented on the entire roster, which I think is good as you need the initiators, the sustainers, and the refiners all to be present to complete the ‘cycle’. It does seem intuitive that the forwards are mostly mutable and the defensemen are mostly cardinal and fixed. Like i mentioned earlier, forwards need to be constantly moving and changing and adapting on the ice. Defensemen i see as needing to sometimes be like a rock/barrier (fixed) and sometimes like an aggressor (cardinal). Now the goalies have all three modalities but are all fire. Honestly, that’s one of the top things that caught my eye and i’m so tempted to look into other teams to see if this is a league-wide goalie phenomenon or just a Canucks thing lol

🎯 The points leaders trends follows the team's overall mutable water (pisces) being the most represented. 80% of the points leaders are forwards, which obviously makes sense. Quinny is up there at number 2, though, bc he’s just special like that 😊

🥊 The hits leaders trends has a couple things i want to note, though. Dak is number one up there as the sole fixed earth sign on the team (the lone taurus). Furthermore, there’s more distribution between forwards and defense at 60% and 40%, respectively. It’s the fixed signs that really show up in the hits leaderboard, which tracks with the themes of fixed signs being standing one’s ground AND maintaining inertia. Fixed signs are stubborn and won’t take anything lying down. Get the fuck out of my way type shit.

Side note, Dak has very earthy energy to me and i love it. He seems very genuine and down-to-earth (specifically talking about off-ice Dak. he flips the switch on ice). I wonder how he does with the VERY little earth energy on the team (only EIGHT PERCENT TOTAL?!?! wild. what's up with that). Earth and water signs mesh well (SEE: GARLY WORK WIFE), but not having your specific energy matched can be personally draining on you. 

♎️Captain Quinn being a libra is VERY fitting, especially given the overwhelming water and fire presence on the team. Libra is a cardinal AIR sign.

Libra key words: diplomatic, other-oriented, peaceful, fair, balanced, go-between energy. (the symbol for libra is literally the scales = justice/fairness) Air signs are communicative and social. They compartmentalize their emotions (his thousand-yard stare honestly is very on brand lmao). Cardinal signs are natural leaders and want to DO something about it (whatever it may be). I think Quinn is likely a natural at seeing/understanding both ‘sides’ (water and fire) and can distill what’s necessary and important from all that emotion and fervor i’m sure the rest of the team provides. He can relay from team to coach and coach to team because air signs won’t let emotion cloud their logic when they can help it.  ♈️♎️Rick is an aries, which is noteworthy to me because aries and libra are sister signs. Sister signs have similar overall goals but their methods of going about it are different. Two sides of the same coin. Aries and libra are both interested in fairness (i would throw in the concept of competition here since we are talking about a sport), but aries is more interested in it on a personal level while libra is focused on it at the systemic level. Aries can sometimes get tunnel vision, be short-sighted and combative, and focus on the self. Libra can become vain and a cowardly people-pleaser in the interest of avoiding conflict. Libra can learn from aries to fight for what’s right and lead; aries can learn from libra to control their temper and practice selflessness. I’d love to see more of their aires/libra coach/captain dynamic and whether we can observe any of that playing out.

🔎Remember how I said i had some guesses about what’s going on in the rest of some players’ charts? Well, I would guess that JT definitely has some fire placements in his chart (emotional outbursts but you can tell he cares so deeply). I could see Garly having some air (communicative, social butterfly - the plane interviews come to mind lmao). Zadorov maybe has some earth for sassiness/dgaf attitude. 😆

Chapter 28 of Gideon the Ninth

I am disappointed by Mayonnaise Uncle's revelation. The most interesting new piece of information is that the shuttle exploded, but he doesn't have anything actually verifiable about what happened to all the children, he just has ideas about ominous possibilities, which really, I think we already had. But thank you Gideon, for finally sharing what you at least thought happened to all the children, 275 pages after we learned they all died. There still seems to be as yet unshared information about why no other children have been born since Harrow, though, how many more pages are we going to have to wait for that? There are barely more than 100 left in the book

My guess is that Harrow blew the shuttle up specifically so that they couldn't take this news to other Houses, and this wasn't like, a plot to kill Gideon or something like that. But if she just didn't want that news leaving Pluto, she could have just let Ortus and Glaurica stay on the Ninth, there wasn't really any reason to kill them. She could have gotten rid of the shuttle to foil Gideon's escape some other way, I'm sure

I am sort of curious about how the Eighth got ahold of Glauria's body or ghost to necromance this information out of her if she exploded in space

Colum is a better and more independent person than I expected. Good for him.

I note that Mayonnaise Uncle originally promised Gideon that he was going to help her "become more than the lock on your own collar" and then really did no such thing, and had nothing to offer other than "the Ninth House probably killed 200 children but I don't actually have proof". Even if that was provably true, he didn't give Gideon any actual way to separate herself from the Ninth House. I'm honestly not sure what he expected out of this, unless it was just specifically a trap to try to take her key, and based on the fact that Colum at least wasn't aware that he was going to try to do that, I'm really not sure what the point of this meeting was supposed to be

Mayonnaise Uncle seems to think that becoming a Lyctor is itself heretical, which is odd, considering that he seems very religious and we have in this book a bunch of priests who seem very keen on one or more of the candidates becoming Lyctors. I'm guessing that the religion as practiced on the Eighth might be more different from the standard religion than Mayonnaise Uncle believes

What I'm getting from the argument between Mayonnaise Uncle and Colum is that on the Eighth they are doing some weird eugenics program to breed perfectly compatible necromancer/cavalier pairs to optimize the soul siphoning process, which probably explains why Colum is like way older than Mayonnaise Uncle despite being his nephew

I hope Colum doesn't wind up being the person to kill Gideon, because that would be Unsatisfying, and also I'd like to see Colum kick Mayonnaise Uncle to the curb now

Belated note from Chapter 27:

This seems to check out pretty well if the Sixth is Mercury, there are actually spots on Mercury in various craters near the poles that never see daylight, also, apparently Mercury has a day/night cycle that is longer than its year, which must do interesting things to whole idea of seasons, but I don't feel like mathing it all out right now. And Mercury actually has huge variations in temperature, due to not having any atmosphere to retain any heat

I can't decide where on the sliding scale of sci-fi hardness the actual sci-fi in this book falls, because it is definitely harder than the kind of sci-fi where they're like, yeah, we just terraformed all the planets and they're all just like Earth now modulo a bunch of sci-fi generators that modify the atmosphere and temperature and so forth, but at the same time it's softer than the ones that say, we can't actually go faster than the speed of light, so it takes literal generations to get anywhere and we all have to go into cryosleep for hundreds of years. And I feel like introducing somewhat magical terraforming is generally more acceptable at harder levels of sci-fi than introducing FTL travel, if that makes sense

I was surprised to stumble across a page like yours. You support a lot of the beliefs I share, beliefs about did and how the demedicalization of it is incredibly harmful, the misinformation and age discrepancy that seems to be plaguing tumblr. I’ll assume you’ve been diagnosed for about six months since that’s how long your discovery had been in your pinned message.

While I appreciate what your blog is trying to do and while I support it, lemme say a few things.

Careful leaning too much into that plural identity. The same way you dislike young introject heavy high alter count systems making did their entire personality, be sure to give yourself the same grace as far as your disorder is concerned. You’re a person first and foremost, and your other parts don’t define you.

If you are diagnosed, remember that life gets a bit more complicated than stagnant alter counts. Genuine diagnosed and in treatment systems can have a high count, can have introjects, and can present in a way that isn’t what you support.

If you aren’t diagnosed, Godspeed on getting a treatment that works for you, and remember that people with did who have been diagnosed for years can exhibit those signs that you don’t support.

Just leave yourself room to learn with the community you’re now a part of and be safe.

This isn’t meant to be a criticism, I’m genuinely excited to see where this page goes, with the idea that you’re open to learning in mind.

Even though the whole discovery happend 6months ago, I didn't interact properly with the community until I made this blog. So I'm still learning a lot as we go. Before that I heard a lot of skeptical opinions about a lot of stuff and it mixed me up a bit. Skeptism was influenced by someone who made me view some of the symptoms as exaggerated in other people. I got into community of people that were fakers. And no Im not accusing them of it since they admitted to it. But I won't get into it much. This made me very skeptical about every person who claims to have DID. I dont see it as a bad thing though. I think that in Internet everyone should keep in mind that someone might not be 100% honest obviously also gotta keep it healthy so that's why I'm not fakeclaiming anyone.

My plurality is not my whole personality at all. In fact in my private life only 2 people know about it. My partner who knows the most, and my best friend who only knows I'm plural and some of my trauma. However, I don't talk much about it with them if at all. I dont want to overwhelm them with it because this topic is heavy and not nice to listen about.

Thats why this blog was created. I needed someone to relate to, I wanted to listen about people sharing their experiences to know I'm not alone in it. I wanted a space where no one knows me and I can talk about anything and everything related to my system. My partner knows I have a blog but doesn't know anything other than this. Im happy with that, I really needed a space where I can be alone with people who have been through similar experiences as me.

I am a person yes, my alters don't define me. But its nice to have an opportunity to talk about my feelings in this topic for once. With people who know more than me, to get their opinions, experiences, new facts about systems and how different one from the other is. I love to learn about all of it. I'm very open to change my opinions about various topics here. But only if its presented to me with respect and im provided with valid sources that support it.

Capital: The Lie of Free Enterprise

The basis of modern society and modern economics as a whole is capitalism. A system based on the ‘free market’. This system in principle, is supposed to reward those who have the knowledge and ability to be successful in the system to succeed. However in reality this is not how this system works. Capitalism on the contrary rewards those with advantages to be successful in this system. In short under capitalism, If you were born into wealth you will thus likely stay wealthy. Many then say in response, “Well it is their right.” However, I disagree. It comes from the fundamental disagreements between how we understand free enterprise and economics vs the reality of how the world economy works. Adam Smith is often cited as the modern father of capitalism, and with no discredit to him, those who cite them in this way are certainly correct. Adam Smith is the modern father of capitalism and thusly can provide us with some background information on a few fundamental questions we have to answer. Who creates wealth in society, who collects that wealth, and is the enterprise truly a free system? And why don't more people care?

The first question is quite easy to answer as Adam Smith says in his book The Wealth of Nations ‘Labour was the first price, the original purchase-money that was paid for all things. It was not by gold or by silver, but by labour, that all wealth of the world was originally purchased.’ (Smith, A. (1902) ‘Chapter 5’, in The Wealth of Nations. New York: American Home Library Co., p. 48.) From this, we can come to the simple conclusion that in a capitalist society wealth is generated through labour. This is called in economics the ‘Labour Theory of Value’. LTV is the basic statement that all value in an object is derived from the labour put into it. If we have a tree, labour was required to fell that tree, then that tree required labour to be transported to a sawmill or other form processing area. Further, still, the processed wood must be sent to a workshop or factory, and then labour there may turn it into a chair. All through that process labour has added value to the wood and eventually the chair. Then at the end of this process, the price for the chair is calculated from its labour and sold. Then this profit was used to produce another chair. However, there is a rather strange happening during all of that. The owner, the entrepreneur, pocketed the leftovers from the chair, the chair that was just sold as a commodity to the free market. However he did not cut the tree down, nor did he process, transport or carve it. He in this process has put no labour into the chair he didn't add to its value. Then why did he take that wealth?

In 1887 a German economist by the name of Karl Marx published a book called Capital after being translated from its original German to English that same year. In this book, Marx goes over many topics but Marx also speaks on several things namely the processes of the circulations of commodities and capital and the appropriation of surplus value from labours. Marx poses that the reality of both the appreciation of the surplus value gained from the commodity and its use to expand either the existing commodity production of the ‘entrepreneur’ is further strange. Marx poses a format of a process for understanding the transformation of the value existing before the labour was put into the commodity versus the after. He calls this the M-C-M format or the money-to-commodity-to-money format. Marx puts forward the simple idea that if the entrepreneur of a free enterprise puts forward £100 to buy Iron, then a further £75 for labour then sells it for £175 he has essentially turned the commodity value into money which Marx declares at this point is itself a commodity. The value you paid for the iron and labour to turn it into a commodity is indistinguishable from the money except for its use value. Now let's say the entrepreneur still puts £175 into the commodity but instead sold the commodity for £275 there is now a remaining £100 extra than we had before. This is called profit or as Marx called this profit surplus labour value. Marx declares simply that profits that are pocketed by the entrepreneur were appropriated from those who did the labour i.e. turned the iron into a commodity. So the labourers are being exploited out of the value that is rightly theirs while all the entrepreneur did was contribute the original commodity of the capital or money with the M-C-M process. However, make no mistake the labourers made the value of the product however they receive the least of the whole transaction the most benefit being to the entrepreneur who can now do with their surplus labour what he wishes.

The myth of free enterprise truly starts to crumble when you understand the concepts we have discussed. Free enterprise is built upon the labour of others being stolen or thusly appropriated. The value that belongs to the labour is taken instead for the entrepreneur or entrepreneurs of the enterprise and used in many ways. This money may be used to expand the ability to make more money by expanding the production or collection that the enterprise does. Or it could go to new enterprises owned by others that have stakes in the first enterprise or it may go to making the entrepreneur's life luxurious. The use truly is irrelevant to the point. The “free enterprise” is built on the theft of value that did not belong to them. This creates a fundamental imbalance between the entrepreneur (the bourgeoises) and the labourers (the proletariat). Adam Smith states in The Wealth of Nations “Wherever there is great property there is great inequality. For one very rich man, there must be at least five hundred poor, and the affluence of the few supposes the indigence of the many” (Smith, A. (1902b) ‘V: I.b’, in The Wealth of Nations. New York: American Home Library Co., pp. 709–710.) The inevitable outcome of this difference in wealth is class. The ones who create the value in society become the lower class the proletariat while the entrepreneur becomes the high class the bourgeoisie. This relationship between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat necessarily requires the oppression of the proletariat as the bourgeoisie's entire class is based on the theft of the value that rightly belongs to the proletariat. So to the vast majority of society, the enterprise of the bourgeois is not a free existence; they are used and exploited for what is rightly their own and fear losing the ability to create that labour and thus exist in that society based on the power of the bourgeoisie. This thus leads to the power of institutions like the state being irrevocably held in the interests of the bourgeoisie as opposed to the majority of society. This means that the overall power of society is held by the minority of society that control the majority of the capital and commodities of society leading to a society where there is no question about the said “freeness” of the society. Because under the capitalist system, society is unquestionably controlled by the bourgeoisie with a power imbalance that cannot be solved from within the system. The true oppression of the system is not seen in the 1st world, however. The greatest amount of oppression and violence from the bourgeois comes from the 1st world to the 3rd. Underdeveloped countries like Thailand, Pakistan and many others bare the brunt from both national and international bourgeois. Many textile companies haven't or don't have the ability to fully automate their work. So many of these countries often for extremely low wages bear the brunt of such jobs often in dangerous conditions and from young ages. This violence, the violence of greed is a favoured tool in these nations. Once the commodity is produced it is then shipped to wherever it needs to go whether it's America or France that textile is worn but that person wearing it would never know the horror story of its price. This is the case for many items you purchase as Daniel Kahn said in his song ‘The Butchers Sher’, “Every pair of pants and grain of rice contains a horror story in its price.”

Karl Marx said in 1869 in a letter to Fredrich Engels “The English working class will never accomplish anything” but this quote is out of context, it lacks other vital parts and necessary understandings about the day Karl Marx lived. However, let's pretend for a second that wasn't the case. Is this true? The working class of the 1st world especially in our modern day is so terribly separated from the working class of the 3rd world. Almost at times these groups and their interests seem so far apart many would try to argue they are at this point different classes for a simple reason. In Karl Marx’s day, the working class tried organising itself under what were called internationals. As Marx thought capitalism could not be defeated if it was not defeated internationally and wholly. But by the 1950s amid the decolonialism of the postwar period, the true uninternationality of the anti-capitalist movement became all too apparent. This led to major anti-capitalist leaders all over the 3rd world theorising an idea that only the working class of the 3rd world could sufficiently challenge capitalism. This was based on experiences major anti-capitalist leaders like Ho Chi Mihn had with anti-capitalists from the 1st world. Seeing the early beginnings of the consumer economy. This development led many to reexamine Marx’s works and come up with solutions many did and many came to conclusions and one I enjoy is also quite poetic.

The Butchers Sher, you may recognise it, referenced a song by the same name earlier. The Butchers Sher refers to a general idea that the workers in not just the West but all countries must as a result of the system they are a part of consume commodities the necessary conclusion of the capitalist system as we discussed earlier the M-C-M. The idea I propose with this name is the indifference workers have to one another based on the effects of the need for commodities in a capitalist society as well as the unwillingness to learn or empathise with them. The song The Butchers Sher tackles this issue by putting forward the statement that as long as the commodity needs of the West are met the working class of the West does not care and would rather be content to let the ‘butcher’ (the bourgeois) have their share of the exploitation (the surplus value of the 3rd world workers and profits from commodities sold in the west) of the 3rd world. We brought up a lyric from that song earlier “Every pair of pants and grain of rice contains a horror story in its price” The song later makes the statement “You can build yourself a garden, you can cover it in green, but my dear I beg your pardon. How do you keep your little fingers clean?” This is a statement appealing to the nature of the consumer. You can ignore all the privileges and benefits you gain from the exploitation of the 3rd world because the “butcher” gets his share. This is later near the end of the song reinforced by these lyrics. “You gotta give the butcher his price. No matter what you think of human rights. You’ve got to give the butcher his lot, for being everything you think you're not. You gotta give the butcher his share. No matter how you say you care. ‘Cause he’s the one who did the stealing and then named you as the heir. Whose filthiness provided you with the privileges you bare”. This is a statement that as long as the capitalists get their share, the working class of the 1st world can wipe their hands clean if they let someone else do it their collaboration in that system will be washed away even because they didn't do it personally is perfectly encompassed in the line “he’s the one who did the stealing and then named you as the heir”. Because the West is the heir to the exploitation and suffering of the 3rd world and benefits from it every day but at least we can live in comfort.

This is the essence of why the idea of free enterprise is a lie. Because any enterprise is always built on the destruction and theft of the human rights of the proletariat and the only conclusion from the idea of a “free enterprise” is that there isn't one.

So what am I here for?

The Wip

Well, this is primarily an art blog where I post about the WIP to end all other WIPs, my magnum opus, my disaster child, my manuscript which is steadily gaining on War and Peace's word count and is currently over 1,000 pages long. Yes, it will be adjusted. Yes, I will have to read the whole thing over again. Because I am a little pitiable, I will be posting art of the characters, snippets of my writing, and some lore! Yes, I do fully intend to publish this. It's been 7+ years in the making.

So what's this WIP about, and dear lord?

It's one of those getting-lost-in-another-world adventure stories, but with several twists and a significant spin on it. It's Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Discworld, and Hitchhiker's all put in a blender. If that sounds horrible, imagine writing it! It follows the protagonist Mallory Noire, who is absolutely nobody and fairly rational, as she dodges cults worshipping eldritch horrors, deftly evades transdimensional fascist regimes, eludes the wizard bureaucracy, befriends mad scientists and attempts to survive a whole slew of other...improbable things. Its most major genres are horror, comedy, and surreal fantasy. I'll tag any posts related to it #misticity.

well, i was planning on taking the summer off but something is going on with alex, though. again. except this is worse. much, much worse.

(think i’ll just come on here sporadically from here on out)

so yesterday, i learned alex uses the waking up app for meditation. i had to look into it because i never heard of it and initially, i completely get why he uses it: it’s meditation based on agnosticism, which is brilliant because it’s hard to find anything like that that doesn’t go all religious on us (really, just ask me how fucking frustrating it is to do research on what the hell spirituality has to do with sexuality and not find things that go on about god and the bible and whatnot).

there are a couple of things about it that bug the hell out of me, though.

aside from the outlandish price—$120 a year following a 30-day trial, like bro, hulu doesn’t even charge that much—if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

the guy who started the app, sam harris, is an atheist, which on its own sent a red flag to me, sorry not sorry. i identify as an agnostic for several reasons, notably the fact that every atheist i’ve ever met is a preachy asshole. they’re basically just like the hyper religious nut jobs but they use logic rather than god to undermine you. the app’s modus operandi is basically teaching you to become aware of the lack of sense of self inside until you become one with everything.

aware of the lack of self inside. something about this felt so off to me when i read it, because i learned a long time ago that you don’t need something or someone to “complete” you: you’re whole as is. you’re a whole person as is in the grand scheme of things. if you’re becoming aware that your sense of self is weak, then it’s probably a psychiatric issue. i hate how holier-than-thou its intent is, too, like “this is the way, the real way, not that conventional meditation crap :)”, which is such an atheist thing and it really is no better than the bible thumpers who do the same thing but with god at the helm. it’s like the creepy, foul-smelling twin of solipsism, which says that the sense of self is the only thing that exists.

i saw a quote on quora (don’t judge me) that said, “if you’re tapping your way to enlightenment, you’ll never get there.” quora and reddit are both littered with edgelords and people who talk out of both corners of their mouths, but that caught my attention because i have realized how much better i feel staying away from here. hell, within the first week i was feeling better.

as for meditation/mindfulness… i’m no guru (in fact, I’m furthest away from something of a guru), but it’s really just about stopping to smell the roses. hearing your own breath and focusing on that for some 5 to 10 minutes. it’s being aware of your thoughts and behavior, of your mind and body. it’s about calming your thoughts for a few minutes. and it’s something that you do over the course of your life by nature, not by some fucking app that costs $100+ and only works 10% of the time anyway. if you do it enough, it’ll become part of your personality. it’s not a quick fix, either, so you’re going to have bad days, days you don’t feel like it, and in my case, you’re going to unearth some things. if you’re tapping your way to mindfulness, you’ll never get there.

i don’t have any idea how long he’s been using the app, he didn’t specify but i think it was around the solstice when i noticed a shift in alex’s behavior—i say the solstice because that was the last time he did a livestream and he acknowledged me again. he would like my comments when no one was looking—in fact, i still anticipate him doing that because it always made my day and made my heart skip a few beats. he would come onto my stories constantly just to watch.

now, it’s like someone reprogrammed him from the ground up. he’s been weirdly disengaged. he actually disparaged things like pastries and baked goods—when the man loves his cannoli and pie, and every time i make babka (or anything jewish), i think of him. i got into jewish cooking because of him—my support of israel definitely plays a role but it goes back to him. plus, i’m a baker next to an artist and writer now, baked goods are part of my bread and butter now (as is literal bread and butter) so imagine how that made me feel to see him say that. “holidays are for indulging”, indulge when you feel like it and there’s nothing wrong with you for feeling these things, either.

i’ve been mindfully eating since last july. i lost a ton of weight. but i’m a baker, a bread maker, a pastry chef. the other day i was eating this big burger with caramelized onions and french fries and i still woke up with a slim belly the next day. i’m about to make another key lime pie during this freaking heat wave and the last one i made, i was still able to keep my weight down (i actually lost weight). if you’re having a problem with cravings, it sounds counterintuitive but don’t ignore them: if you want a piece of pie, have a piece of pie, but just have the one slice and eat it slowly so you enjoy every aspect of it; you don’t need multiple. this is literally how you stop those cravings in their tracks. and i have actual medical science to back me up on this, too.

i genuinely don’t get his logic here like… there’s nothing inherently wrong with temptation. a little party never killed anyone. it’s all about balance (he’s a libra, libras love balance… at least i thought they did). it really does feel like that toxic diet culture i grew up with in the 2000s but with a different coat of paint. all i see here is a slippery slope: the man of my dreams is on a slippery slope and there’s nothing i can do. a phony attempt at meditation is taking advantage of his flaws and foibles and blowing them up.

i have no doubt that fucking g*psy definitely had something to do with it, too. becoming one with her and leaving me behind in the dust as if I’m the other woman: i may be in love with him but you got another thing coming if you think i’m the other woman.

it’s such a shock from the alex of the last three years, the alex i got to know and fall in love with and put me out in the open.

this whole time i’m thinking of a quote from ron swanson: “people who buy things are suckers.”

Saying that though, I wish I didn't have to go the way of modding the PlayStation Classic just to have my dream 20 which includes games with those characters, sure Tekken 3 is staying, much as I prefer 2 with how it handled unlocking characters, but I'd be having RE2: Dual Shock replace RE: Director's Cut, Abe's Exoddus replace Abe's Oddysee, and having a Crash and Spyro game in general since it's odd they weren't on it.

Best I can imagine is given when the PS Classic came out, it was when the Crash & Spyro remakes came out, so Activsion likely didn't allow any of the PS1 games to be included, if it was their call to begin with, but now I'm just rambling, and I don't know if you care about that whole topic. .w.

I don't own a PlayStation Classic! So I had nooo ideas about the games on it. I do, however, own two PlayStation 1s (the actual consoles!) since I bought one off eBay (you can get them for a decent price, usually $80-$100-or-below. Which from what I see... the PSC costs around the same price? wtf? But I guess it does come with games...) and then not long after, I found another for cheap at Goodwill!!! Wonderful condition wtf. I would say it's odd that Spyro and Crash weren't on it. But maybe that had something to do with like you said, their copyright issues. Actually, I'm most definitely sure that's it haha.

That's funny, because whilst I like Tekken 2 a lot - the characters are cool and it has a killer soundtrack. I just... don't like how it plays as much. Tekken 3 is a lot smoother. For example; when your character jumps, they jump somewhat realistically and they don't bounce 40 feet in the air. Therefore, jump attacks are much easier to execute. And when your character is knocked down in Tekken 3, they don't stay on the ground for 5 minutes, which also gives the AI time to attack your character. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but it drives me craaazy how long it takes to get up when you're knocked down in Tekken 2. I believe VideoGameDunkey made a joke about that in his Tekken 1 video. (When you get knocked down, you stay there FOR FIVE YEARS.) Tekken 3 also feels "easier" than Tekken 2, but I can't tell if that's because it simply controls better or if it genuinely is easier..

Although both games strangely have the issue where the boss' second form is easier than its first. Like at first I was confused why I have an easier time defeating Devil than Kazuya in Tekken 2. But I figured it out. Devil often tries to spam the "laser attack" that Kazuya doesn't have - which DOES take down a lot of your health if it hits you. But since it takes him time to shoot it, it's easy to attack him before it comes out of his eye. Meanwhile, Kaz doesn't do that - he just beats you down with quick combos. But I don't know why True Ogre feels easier than Ogre (who's easier than Kazuya in T2) - maybe because True Ogre is big? Idk.

And naaah it's fineee. Feel free to ramble if you wanna. I don't mind. uvub I may not be the Biggest Gaymer, but I do play some games - especially PlayStation ones.
