I love how we just call them the Denali sisters, Kate Denali, Tanya Denali, and Irina Denali. We are assuming that Carmen took Eleazar’s last name (whatever that is) we’ll call that Denali anyway just for fun.

I get how they live in Alaska and all that but, Stephanie Meyer has LiTeRaLlY never ever told us their actual last name.

In Jessica Stanley voice: not that it even matters like at all, but I’m honestly so curious.

Y/N POV:

Here I was standing in the living room of the Cullen’s mansion surrounded by 27 vampires from across the world witnessing what all the other vampires though was impossible, a hybrid, half vampire half human. I was shocked when Carlisle called me asking me to witness that is hybrid grand daughter was indeed a hybrid and not an immortal child. I wasn’t shocked to meet Renesmee after all she was not the first hybrid I had met. I looked at Carlisle and nodded.

“We need to talk. Now and in private.” I say to him so only he could hear. He nodded and walked up the stairs to his office. As we walked into his office I manipulated a shield gift so that I knew we wouldn’t be overheard by the other vampires in the house.

“Why did you really call me here Carlisle?”

“Y/N we need your help the Volturi are coming after us.”

“I will not stand against the Volturi, and you know that Carlisle, I have already overruled one of their decisions when your son and daughter needed help.”

“And I will be forever thankful for you helping us but we need your help again please I beg”

“Why should I Carlisle, why risk everyone that I care about because your son broke the law and got you in a situation that could have been avoided with a simple phone call.”

“The Volturi would have killed Bella if we told them.”

“No they wouldn’t,  because I would not have allowed it but now, raising an army against them Carlisle I don’t know if I can pull enough strings to get you out of this one. You should have come to me earlier but now it is time for your family to face the consequences of your actions.”

“Does that mean you will not be staying and helping.”

“I will not be staying but I will see what strings I can pull to get you out of this mess okay. Renesmee is not the first of her kind and because of that I may be able to get your family out of this.”

“You are really going to help?”

“Yes only because you are my family as well Carlisle, but I cannot stay here and Carlisle if it comes down to your family or mine, I will choose mine.”

With that I flashed out of the open window and into the surrounding woods and across to the ocean. I would make good on my word and try to help Carlisle but to do that I needed to leave forks.

BELLA’S POV

I stood next to Edward as we watch Carlisle walk up the stairs followed by a vampire named Y/N who had just arrived. I watched her she did not appear to have pale skin and her eyes were a bright shade of Y/E/C, as I heard the door close I turned to Edward.

“Who was that vampire?”

“Y/N” Amun interrupted “she is the Original, the first of our kind.”

“She was created by a witch, although unlike us she appears human, she doesn’t sparkle in the sun like us she burns in the sun, she has the ability to mimic and manipulate other vampire’s gifts for example she could make it so your shield no longer works, or she could amplify Janes gift but most of all she is the one true leader of the vampire world.”

Amun paused as he turned to find all eyes on him intently listening to him describe Y/N.

“Well if she is the one true leader can’t she help us defeat the Volturi, I mean they are cruel and abuse their power.”

“She will not stand against the Volturi.” Eleazar stated with authority.

“Why not?!” I yell getting frustrated.

“Would you stand against your family Bella?” Tanya questioned.

“Wait Y/N?”

“Her name is Y/N Volturi.”

this is probably a dumb question but: how do you think the saga would have gone had victoria turned mike instead of riley? what do you think would have happened if it was revealed that bree or fred was/were related to jessica or something like that?

(or if angela really did turn out to be a witch?)

and also, how would you go about involving the humans of forks into all the supernatural stuff if you could rewrite the saga / have free rein?

So if Mike were changed instead of Riley, that's someone that Bella knows and theoretically cares about. That's a disappearance that affects her entire community - Bella works for Mike's family, she spends time with him, her other friends have known Mike for years. I can see Bella being concerned, but not overall worried or invested in Mike's fate too much. Bella comes across as very self-centered and I think that only Jessica or Angela could inspire her to really worry in this scenario. I can see some jokes being made about Edward not worrying about Mike anymore, and having that look very dark during the reveal.

I also think that Victoria would keep Mike a secret, and not let him roam as much as Riley, to have the maximum impact. Victoria got so close to Bella, she killed one of Bella's friends as part of her army. That's extremely scary and messed up.

There's a huge emotional arc of Mike disappearing without a trace, and then Bella coming face to face with him in the battle. And Mike is so confused - he's believed the whole time that he's saving Bella (because Victoria would use Mike's affection for Bella to her benefit) from the terrible, dangerous Cullens, and that he's met his soulmate in Victoria. That Victoria is really a good person who is looking out for Bella and only changed Mike because she loved him at first sight.

I like to think that Mike would have his moment, and turn on Victoria - maybe even help Edward and Jacob destroy Victoria. A nice little framing of the three boys who loved her protecting her. And Mike backing the fuck up away from Bella because he knows he's going to want to eat her if he gets too close.

As much as I think it would be cute and fun if Mike and Bree were allowed to live, and go off together as nomads with kind of a sibling dynamic (and great potential for their return in Breaking Dawn as witnesses; Mike has the advantage of testifying that no one suspects the Cullens of being anything except too rich and fucking weird), I think Jane would have executed both of them, and that Bella and Edward's choices would finally have a human price and a face to them - especially if Mike realized he was on death row and tells Bella to make sure his mom knows that he loved her.

I don't believe that Bella was written to reflect on this kind of thing much, but I do like the idea of Mike's death weighing on her and making her question everything that has happened since she moved to Forks, and Eclipse ending with Bella 'needing to think' rather than accepting Edward's proposal. She's the reason that Mike never graduated high school, why his family will never stop looking for him, why he never got to go to college or get married or have any of the things that Bella can still have.

And then you lead into Breaking Dawn with Bella finally accepting the proposal but asking to put off her change until after college (obviously Renesmee ruins that plan, but the sentiment is enough.) I would also hope that Bella chooses a boy's name of Edward Michael, to honour her friend.

It would be amazing fun, though, to have Mike and Bree return in Breaking Dawn to help Bella, considering each other family, and Mike meets Tanya and is just in awe of this gorgeous woman who actually seems interested in him? It might not be forever, but Mike kind of gets to make lemonade out of the lemons of Victoria changing him. Plus after all his time as a punchline, Mike actually makes friends with the Cullens? He and Emmett are both super enthusiastic about Cullen baseball and video games, he's stunned by how much Rose knows about cars, he gets to part ways with Edward as friends. Feels more fun, but it does lose a lot of the lessons his execution would have for Bella.

bree & fred.

To be frank, I don't think Bella would have cared if Bree or Fred were related to Jessica. I think she would have noticed Jessica's worried and unhappiness, and *maybe* made the connection when faced with them on the battlefield, but she wouldn't have been emotionally invested in them as people. Their execution would be sad, but I don't think it would fundamentally change Bella or her story.

angela.

I've never played with this headcanon much, but I am intrigued. I think that if Angela were a witch, it would be hinted at from Twilight - maybe James' hunt with Bella broke some kind of protective circle she and her family established around Forks. One that the Cullens didn't break because they genuinely mean no harm to the people, and because Carlisle arrived with the intentions of healing and helping.

I feel like Angela's relationship with the Pack could go either way - as an ally who provides healing and protection, as well insight, or as an enemy, someone tapping into powers and knowledge they have no business accessing.

She would definitely have some kind of rune to make sure that Edward doesn't hear anything she doesn't want heard. I think it would be SUPER fun if it were Angela who rocked up to the Cullens house to let them know there was an army being formed, and they needed to do something. Maybe spilling the beans that she's done a good amount of research and worked out exactly who Carlisle, Rose, Jasper, and Edward were, but she's never been able to pinpoint which era Esme, Alice, and Emmett were from, just to really stop the Cullens in their tracks.

During the Eclipse battle, Angela would be with Bella the entire time, creating any kind of protective circle and warding charms she could manage, and be zero-tolerance with Edward and Jacob's competitive nonsense - "Bella's a person, not an object to be fought over." She'd be sent back to the Res after the battle so that she didn't run into the Volturi.

Angela wouldn't end up imprinting on the Pack or anything; she'd go to college, maybe coming back for Breaking Dawn's confrontation during Winter Break (though she would definitely be facetiming during Bella's pregnancy with ideas, tips, and generally trying to convince Bella that the risk was insane and there was only so much that could be done). I think in that scenario, Angela would be the one entrusted with Renesmee, and that Jacob would be responsible for getting both of them away from the battle. Angela becomes a friend and ally to the whole family, and gets to live out her life with a foot in each world because she deserves good things.

If I had free reign over Twilight, Bella and Edward would be the B-plot, and Alice would be the protagonist learning about where she came from, and realising Aro wants her as a weapon. Or just a super self-indulgent human Alice/vampire Jasper moment. Or just ret-con a lot of it.

But I digress.

To integrate the classmates into Twilight more, I would let the Cullens have friends. No necessarily bffs, but maybe the Cullens sit at the same lunch table as Jessica and co, maybe Alice joins them sometimes and other times Edward summons her back to the family. Or maybe Rosalie is part of a study group for STEM, or Emmett had a part-time job down at Newtons (a GREAT opportunity for him and Bella to interact in the later books - I maintain that Emmett deserved a much larger role, and that New Moon needs a total overhaul to balance out Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. But that's a full TED talk on its own.)

Just something to integrate them more with their classmates. "The Cullens are kind of weird, but they're okay - Jasper Hale can fix any electronic, it's freaky, but he makes you pay. If you need any tutoring in the sciences, Rosalie Hale is terrifying but so good at it. Alice Cullen is so cute, every year she does the school musical's costumes by herself, and she teaches kiddie ballet classes at the rec center on Saturdays." Give these people some hobbies, some way of still being apart of human life beyond freakin' high school. Give them a reason for them to be accepted on the fringes of their classmates lives.

Have Bella be a little more pleasantly surprised how easily these people accept and want to make friends with her - maybe Tara's dad used to go fishing with Charlie, and she remembers playing with Tara when she was a kid. Maybe DJ Garret's older sister baby-sat Bella once or twice. Maybe Rachel and Rebecca Black text Bella welcoming her back to 'hell' and Bella spends four books trying to conceal what's going on because she doesn't think Rachel or Rebecca know anything.

Then start using them - specifically Jessica. She's a good foil to Bella because she's so outgoing, and Jessica is so fundamentally human that she can represent all the things that Bella is willing to give up. No gift, no trauma, just an ordinary girl in high school from a content family.

It's not Renee that James pretends to kidnap, he grabs Jessica when she shows up at the Swans to study with Bella; It's not Bella that's bitten, it's Jessica. Bella has to witness all this, and the Cullens are more invested because Jessica is fundamentally a nice person to them. Bella sees the horror of vampirism, but Jessica is convinced she just had a head injury.

Then New Moon happens and Emmett attacks Bella instead of Jasper and the Cullens leave. They let themselves get too close in Forks, it's become too much. They got too attached, and this is what happened. Maybe it's not realistic to live like humans anymore. Maybe they have to isolate themselves because of what they are. Make this a family choice, make everyone be leaving something behind - Carlisle, his work; Esme's social circle and maybe a business; friends, jobs, hobbies, just little human things they really wanted but can no longer justify.

Bella's depressed, but Jessica is getting more memories back, and her hand feels kind of weird and that scar looks like a human bite mark? The story isn't fitting together right. Why didn't anyone call the police over James? Why is Bella so depressed?

Jessica has a strong personality, and she definitely isn't going to let all this go... which results in her tracking Bella down at the Res to get some answers just in time to see Jacob transform. And OF COURSE Jessica tells her friends, who don't believe her until Jessica goes digging JUST in time to confront Bella with a full binder of evidence including the fact the Cullens owned the property back in the 1920s and Hoquaim Hospital happened to have a Doctor Carlisle Cullen working for them.

"I saw a guy turn into a giant wolf, Bella, nothing is off the table. Did you know a Rosalie Hale disappeared in New York State during the 1930s? She just vanished, and then her fiance was murdered in a locked room. The photos are blurry but I have copies."

By the time we get to Eclipse, Bella's trying SO HARD to protect her human friends from the Volturi by keeping them away from where Edward might hear their thoughts. Meeting Aro terrified and traumatized her; she's having nightmares. But Jessica has her friends convinced. She has Angela and Eric helping her comb records to find out where the other Cullens came from. It's pretty futile, since she only has two surnames to work from, but she does find a marriage certificate for an Esme Platt to a Carlisle Cullen from the 60s that she's certain is useful.

Eventually, Jessica decides she wants the full story. What do the Cullens want? What happened to her when that guy abducted her? So she gets her friends and goes to the Cullens for a confrontation. And Alice insists they tell them everything because that's how it has to go. There's no way around telling the truth now.

I'd mess with the timeline a lot to so that Bella has more time to develop her relationship with Edward, and so that the actual battle in Eclipse is the night of graduation - Alice's 'party' is just a cover. And Jessica and co want to help; the wolves and Cullens might be fighting and dismembering the newborns, but Mike has a whole camping store of weapons, there's a good likelihood of some of them having shooting skills, get them in the mix - first aid for wounded wolves, starting the pyres, holding some kind of line to warn the Cullens if any get past a certain point towards town. And then someone gets hurt - maybe Eric or Ben get attacked, maybe Nicole gets hurt bad enough she ends up paralyzed. Raise the stakes some more.

Then Breaking Dawn. Jessica hears that Bella is recovering from near-death after the wedding, and she and Angela go to visit Bella pregnant, wasting away. Jessica just rolls her eyes and is like "you really are gunning for Queen of Fucking Terrible Decisions, Swan. Move over, lets watch a movie." Jessica and Angela - maybe even Tara and Nicole - immediately start coming over to hang out with Bella, and help with the research into hybrids. I really find it bizarre that dhampir legends never came up in canon because vampire hybrids are based in actual mythology.

Then they all leave for college. Jessica definitely texts Bella 'Renesmee? What are you, Mormon?' when Ness is born, but it's friendly ribbing. The Cullens defend the presence of the humans to the Volturi by offering them this choice: either you have a dozen kids protecting their home, helping uphold the secrecy laws, and knowing that walking around at night is fucking dangerous in a new way, or you have an entire town slaughtered by newborns in the age of Facebook. Alice's visions of no one spilling the beans helps, but it solidifies to Aro that Carlisle cannot be trusted, that his compassion is also his biggest flaw. That if anyone should die for these humans, it should be the Cullens.

And then the last scene is spring break; Cullens vs the Pack baseball match, and the humans are back to watch and heckle. And Bella gets this one moment that if she has to leave it all behind, she's glad these are the memories and the people she gets to carry with her. The Cullens know that things have to change, that they cannot integrate themselves like this again, so that Forks will always be special to them. The end of an era.

tara/jacob.

I think most of the rest of that verse is really from Alice's POV, so you don't get much from seeing Tara interacting with Jacob, but you get a lot of Tara having the biggest crush and freaking out that she's made a fool of herself in front of him. A lot of joking, a lot of girl-talk, a lot of "Bella. Look at me. Tell Jacob you are not interested and give him my number, you are a terrible wing-man. I will make a very convincing argument."

I do know that once Tara gets her guy, she gets to spend more time around at the Cullens asking all the questions she can think of (at least half of them are inappropriate), and she and Rose... they aren't friends, but they get along. Jacob is definitely frustrated that Tara likes the Cullens, and wishes she'd 'stay safe'. At that point, though, Alice has friends like a Real Girl (the document is actually called nofriendsforalice.pages) and Tara is laughing at Jacob, that he thinks manicures and pop music and gossip is dangerous.

The reveal is pretty fun, and the whole fic is really about female friendships and autonomy, and Jacob getting a girlfriend that isn't mystically ordained and just likes him for being him.

Vampires get their unique abilities as an enhancement of their personalities, right? From what could Kates or Benjamins abilities have formed?

According to the guide, Benjamin could literally control fire as a human. Which, I mean, I guess? For some reason Alice being able to predict the future and Edward (and his mother?) having some vague ability to 'read people' as humans seems within the realm of possibility to me, but Benjamin straight up having fire magic is where my suspension of disbelief hits a wall.

"But Panlight!" they cry, "This is a story about vampires and shapeshifters!" Yes, but it's set in the real world other than those few supernatural creatures, and actual magic among humans seems more out of place to me than vague psychic stuff.

His uncle was a street performer and taught him to do tricks and because Benjamin, again, apparently had actual magic he earned the most money for the family. And drew the attention of Amun, who turned him, and then as a vampire he could control all the elements. Because sure. Why not.

Kate, on the other hand, was a warrior/bodyguard type. So I guess she was always feisty and strong and driven to protect people. The Denali coven mother, Sasha, and Tanya murdered the caravan Kate was travelling with, but were so impressed with her bravery and fight skills and because she kinda looked like she could be related tot hem, Sasha chose to turn her. That's . . . nice, I guess? If I were Kate I might be a little miffed these people who call themselves my new mother and sister just killed all my friends and the 'princess' I was sworn to protect, though? So I guess her ability came from that ability to fight, manifested in an actual 'weapon'?

Although I like the idea that she was struck by lightning, or that she was just one of those people who like ALWAYS shocked you with static electricity.

It does sort of seem like SM just went off the rails at the end there with the gifts and kind of threw out the more subtle psychic stuff for wacky X-Men gifts and then didn't really bother to try and explain them. "Benjamin is magic because he's magic!" Freaky Fred from the Bree book is so introverted he can make people . . . repulsed to look at him to such a degree that he . . . becomes invisible?

Side note, still don't understand how Kate's gift isn't physical. It's described as an actual current on her skin, not a mental illusion of pain like Jane's. It absolutely should have worked on Bella, IMO, but SM needed someone to train her so it's somehow a "mental" gift.

Possessive Prompts: well I would like to ask one where the reader and a denali (if you want you can put that she has a gift I don't care about that) is I found out that she is the companion of our magnificent tracker Demetri Volturi.  note: she is a witness who is on the Cullen's side. Possesive order numbers: 1,2,12,24 For @amelia-morgana

Y/N Denali was adopted and raised by Eleazar and Carmen and they lived with her aunts Kate, Tanya and Irina in Alaska. Eleazar planned on turning his daughter when she was 21 years old but not all plans work out as expected. 

Irina had gone to Forks to speak with the Cullens, to clear the air after what happened with the wolves and Laurent. However, she spotted Bella with Jake and an ‘immortal’ child and took off running without speaking to Bella or the Cullens.

Irina went to the Volturi to report the Cullens for their ‘crime.’ This set in motion events that would affect the Denali family in ways noone would have thought, not even Irina herself.

Y/N Denali stood in between her mum and dad on the Cullen’s side of the battlefield as they waited for the Volturi to arrive. A few minutes later everyone got a surprise when they arrived as noone was expecting to see Irina to be standing with the Volturi.

Demetri knew the moment they arrived at the field that his life was going to change…forever. He felt a tenor reaching out to him, calling to him; it was new but felt so familiar at the same time. A moment later the sweetest scent he had ever smelt hit him ‘Strawberry and Mint.’ His ruby red eyes roamed the crowd standing opposite him and found Y/C eyes, he then felt something ‘click’ inside him, ‘mate’ ran through his mind and he smiled at her.

Edward growled from across the field as he read Demetri’s thoughts and looked between Y/N and the Tracker and back again. Demetri growled back in response as he didn’t like Edward reading his mind but he disliked Edward looking at his mate even more.

Everyone noticed immediately that something wasn’t right and Aro held his hand out to Demetri and read his recent thoughts seeing that the Tracker had found his mate in the human girl standing between Eleazar and Carmen. “Eleazar it would seem that your daughter is mated to our dear Demetri” Aro said looking at ex-guard member. Collected gasps sounded around the field before Aro spoke again “Maybe your daughter should come over to her mate before we discuss the issue surrounding the child.”

Eleazar and Carmen knew they couldn’t refuse Aro, not without starting a fight. They both hugged Y/N, telling her everything will be alright before watching her walk across the field to Demetri. He walked towards her so he could meet her half-way and reached out to take her small hand in his larger one. He led her back to the Volturi’s side of the field and once there he held her to his side purring in her ear. The sound one of contentment now that he finally has his mate by his side.

After the confrontation Demetri took Y/N back to Castillo Volterra with him ready to spend forever with her. If only she knew just how protective, how possessive he was going to be of her, his human, his mate.

Y/N was made to welcome in the castle by everyone. Heidi, Chelsea, Corin and Jane all took her under their wings and even invited her out on their next night out. Demetri was pleased that his mate was getting on well the female vampires in the castle.

A few weeks after she arrived at the castle Demetri caught Y/N talking and laughing with a transitory guard and saw red. A growl escaped him before he ran at the guard “SHE’S MINE!” He roared before beheading the guard in front of her “What the hell Demetri? We were just…” He growled again, cutting her off and turned to face her. “You belong to me” Demetri told her as he looked into her eyes “I don’t belong to you or anyone else Demetri” She replied looking back at him, holding his gaze “That is where you are wrong darling” He took her jaw in his hand “You were mine the moment you were born. Fate saw to that” He pressed his lips to hers in a rough kiss, her breath catching in her throat. He smiled against her lips “See, I’m the only one who take your breath away” He pressed his lips to her neck and left a trail of open-mouthed kisses leading up towards her ear, kissing and gently sucking her skin there. A breathless moan of his name slipped past her lips and she felt him smile against her skin.

At the next guard training session Demetri ensured the lower and transitory guards knew that if they looked at or went near his mate he would rip them apart and burn the pieces.  

Demetri had been away on a mission with Felix and Alec and arrived home the night the girls were due to go out. Demetri was looking forward to seeing Y/N after being apart from her for nearly two weeks. He made his way straight to his room knowing she was in there. “Y/N darling I’m home” He called out as he entered the room “Welcome home, I’ll be out in a sec” She replied and he took a seat on the sofa in front of the fireplace waiting for her.

“Where do you think you’re going dressed like that? Your body is for my eyes only” He asked standing up as she walked out of the closet dressed in a silver low cut dress that ended mid-thigh, paired with four-inch stilettos. “I’m going out with Heidi, Chelsea, Corin and Jane for girl’s night” Y/N replied as she placed her hands on his chest and pressed her lips to his cheek in a sweet kiss. “Dem, you know I love you and only you” She told him, hoping to reassure him of her feelings for him.

Heidi knocked on the door before he could make her change her outfit “Ready Y/N?” She asked “Yes ready when you are” Y/N replied and kissed Demetri again. He bit back a growl and turned his attention to Heidi “If anything happens to her, you’ll wish you never met me” His voice only loud enough for Heidi to hear and she shuddered knowing that it wasn’t a threat but a promise. “I promise she’ll be safe” Her reply shaky but equally as low.

Y/N returned home a few hours later a little tipsy “I told them to keep an eye on you” He growled “They did Demi. They stepped in when a few guys were hitting on me” She replied honestly and before she knew what was happening he had her pinned against the wall, growling at her “Maybe if I mark you, other people wouldn’t be such a nuisance” He buried his head into her neck, inhaling her scent then left a trail of kisses along her neck before letting his teeth graze over her pulse point. She cried out as she felt him bite down into her skin, marking her, claiming her as his. He swallowed a few mouthfuls of her blood moaning at the delicious taste of his mate’s blood coating his tongue as it slid easily down this throat. He wrapped an arm around her waist holding her flush against him and pulled away slightly from her neck letting his venom pool in his mouth. He leant back in, his teeth sinking back into his bite mark and released his venom into her system. He licked the wound closed and pressed a kiss there. “You’re mine forever now darling.” This was the last thing she heard before everything went black as her body burned from the inside out from his venom.

The library is shy of abandoned and the ceiling-high bookshelves are looming like ancient trees over the last section of the library that is still lit. It’s a Friday night and mischief is in the air, the sound of giggling girls catching the ear of the last soul that still lingers between these bundles of knowledge. 

A man, tall as a tree himself stands in the gentle kiss of the light, his strong fingers leafing precariously through one of the books. No, no, no. Slowly he shakes his head, an obnoxious onyx curl falling over his chiseled face. No, no, no. This is not was he was looking for. 

Knitting his brow he pushes the book back on one of the shelves, his free hand placing the curl back where it belongs. How long would this take? 

Sighing quietly he lets his eyes wander back in the direction of the entrance, his ears once again catching the girlish giggles of his eavesdroppers. 

Oh you ladies!..If only you knew what's awaiting you. His lips curl up in a knowing smile as he pulls yet another book from the shelves, his ears now picking up the sound of two quiet feet, muffled by nightly slippers. 

There she comes..

‘Miss Juliette, Miss Tanya, say now, what reason have you for being out of your beds?’ Your voice echoes clean off the smooth tiles as the two girls quickly straighten up, their backs pressing awkwardly into the slightly opened library doors.

’N-nothing.’ Juliette bites her thin lip.

You raise an eyebrow above your half-moon glasses, not believing one word of it. 

‘I see. You were just..sleep-walking then? Together?’

‘Yes!’ Tanya nods quickly, ‘I mean..yes Misses..’

‘Miss..and..’ You silence them with a raised finger, your curiosity now getting the best of you as you too notice the light that licks through the slightly ajar door. Someone has snuck into your sanctuary! Well, have you there! Your eyebrows raise even further as you look back at the mischievous two, their teeth biting into nervous lips. 

‘Very well then. Off to bed!’ You whisper with hush authority, the girls already sprinting away before you can finish: ‘And...quietly!’

Mischief, mischief, mischief! Was it something in the air today? First you find the Smith’s girls attempting to rip out a page of one of your beloved biology books. A very special page may you add - with very special..naked..male examples. 

You wet your lips as you get ready to find the next mischievous soul, your fingers gliding over the cold handle of the heavy door as you push it open. 

In the very back of the library you notice a solitary crest of light, the free-standing bookcases in the middle of the space obstructing your view, making you even more curious about this nightly visitor. 

Curiosity killed the cat, but ..satisfaction.. brought it back. 

With careful steps you move over the Persian carpets, the thick wool quieting your feet as you finally get to see the curious critter. But much to your surprise, it’s not one of the girls; it’s a wide-shouldered..fine male example. 

Clearing your throat you take another step, making your presence known without treading into the light: a little shock would surely make him think twice about snooping around in your sanctuary, right?  

But no. You are mistaken there. It doesn’t seem to phase the young professor at all, his eyebrow slowly quirking up as he looks straight at you in the darkness.

Guess he has some night-goggle glasses there, hmm? 

‘Bit of a nightcrawler, professor Clark?’ Your question lingers in the air as his signature half-smirk curls up his lips, his broad shoulders shrugging sheepishly.

‘Apologies. I didn’t mean to wake you misses..-‘ —  ‘It’s miss.’ — ‘Miss.’ His eyes quickly drift over your long, sophisticated nightgown, your covered body shivering underneath his undressing blue gaze. 

He wets his lips as he quickly averts his eyes back to yours. ‘Please don’t let me keep you. I’ll make sure to lock up once I..’

You click your tongue and he instantly quiets, your feet stepping into the light now your presence is known - and seen. Squinting slightly, you look up at the large framed man, this small hidden-away nook suddenly feeling even smaller, the thousands of books embracing you both in a pathway no wider than a few feet. 

Taking a steadying breath you are suddenly so very aware of his presence, your feet quick to turn your attention to the books before you melt right onto the carpet. 

A carpet that would look good with the two of you on it, doing things from the biology...NO, stop that! 

Calming your racy thoughts, you find yourself a task at hand, your fingers pulling out one of the books. ‘You didn’t put it in the right place.’ You say pedantically, pushing it a few shelves higher, your feet having to lift to reach. 

‘My apologies, Miss.’ His low sweet voice crawls into the shell of your ear as you feel him getting closer, his hand reaching out to help, but doing quite the opposite. Hands touching, you feel his fingers press the cover back into its snug home. 

Where it belongs. 

And right then you can think of other things that could find belonging beneath his fingertips. OKAY. No. Stop this. Girls school. 11 o’clock. Time for bed. Behave yourself! 

But ooph..there is just something about this charming professor. His masculinity oozes through the thin layer of fabric that hides you from him and again you feel so bare, his musk mingling wonderfully with the smell of old books and dusty oak.

‘I can’t have you…’ You turn around, but your warning never makes it past your lips as you find his face suddenly so very close to yours.

Mischievously close.

He licks his lips again. ‘..I was just..’ His words don’t make it much further as his blue eyes grow black, that same boyish little tug playing at his lips.

‘..looking for the stars?’ You try, making his smile grow.  

GO TO BED NOW.

‘Well it sure is a perfect night.’ 

‘And yet you are staring at..books.’ 

For a hesitant moment you both just seem to exist, waiting for gravity to pull you towards or away from each other. But that would probably take light years and ..

‘Oh!’ You giggle nervously as he suddenly presses forward, lips brushing over yours as your glasses clash into one another. 

The both of you can’t help but laugh, the surprisingly swift move on his end ending in a clumsy crash of glass to glass. 

‘Apologies again.’ He awkwardly crooks his lips as he quickly takes off his glasses, your hand instinctively doing the same. 

You don’t see much without them, but it doesn’t matter. Within moments you feel that you don’t need your eyes to stargaze with this professor, his lips tasting of coffee and smiles. And promises. And surprising strength and...

‘OH!’ You gasp as he pushes you into the bookshelves, one of his hands calming you, caressing you, fingertips grazing over your cheek and neck while the other plants itself firmly next to your head. 

Almost as if he’s keeping himself grounded. 

You are not grounded at all though. Your heart flutters with embarrassing giddiness as he kisses you like they do in the movies. Or in really good romantic Jane Austen novels actually. But then even better. 

He is a good kisser, the type that carefully tests what you like before he goes on. From sweet lip pecks to a little probe, a tongue caressing your flesh, before he tries a little nip. And then a harsher bite. A more eager tug. Before he goes back to a few hot sweet pecks. 

Anything you had dreamed of as you had watched the professor meander through your library with his students, was nothing compared to how you feel right now. Your fingertips tangle through those soft obnoxious curls and your lips curl in a smile as he rewards you with yet another sweet merry kiss.

‘Wait,’ He suddenly quirks his head, hands pulling you away from the bookcase and more into the shadow. ‘someone’s coming.’ 

You're not sure if you’re so happy-daisy that you’ve just lost both vision and hearing, but alas, you quickly nod and gesture at one of the bookshelves. 

‘There’s a..a...lever..a..’ You claw at some of the books until you find it, his breath hot behind you as the secret passage opens before you; a good thing about old schools is that there is often more than one way out of a precarious situation. And you sure are in a precarious situation right now. The both of you are supposed to be in your beds. Your OWN beds. You're supposed to give a good example! Not this..this..you reach your hands forward as your sight leaves you half-blind in the narrow dark corridor behind the secret door. 

Behind you, you can hear the bookcase slide closed again, professor Clark’s silent footfalls not far behind you. 

‘Woa.’ He says quietly, probably ogling the small hallway, which, if you are to take a right turn, would lead you to...

Gentle moonlight washes through a large glass door that leads out to the nightly gardens, a million stars pricking little lights in the solid black sky. 

By daytime a hundred girls would walk up and down this hall to go to class or lunch. But right now it’s quiet, your lips letting out a silent sigh as you turn back to Clark. 

The both of you can’t help but giggle. 

‘Mischief managed.’ He grins and you giggle even louder, poking him playfully. ‘I always got some Harry Potter vibes with you professor..though of course you are a more..grown..’ Your eyes may not see every little detail, but his large presence is hard to miss. 

As are his lips, his hands catching your cheeks again as he tilts your head to get another taste of what was so abruptly stopped moments earlier. 

And then he pulls back again, his eyes rolling in their sockets. Another visitor? Were you really so...deaf? 

‘Ssh.’ He hushes as he pulls your giggling figure back into a well-hidden nook. 

Now you hear it too. Footsteps, a gruff voice echoing through the near-empty hall. ‘Looks like someone left the light on ‘s all.’ 

Was that Coach Sy? Perhaps. 

You reach for each other’s mouths, hands muffling your incessant giggles as the figure passes, then disappears. 

Now the moonlight cascades so prettily over his face, you must at least see him, and so you hastily put your glasses back on, afraid that if you’d blink he’d be gone again. That this is just another vivid daydream. 

But it’s not. As you regain your vision you look straight up at two pale blue eyes that shine with care and gentleness, his hand caressing your hot-burning cheek. 

‘Looks like you don’t really need those glasses do y--’ As the words leave your lips, realisation strikes. Without the glasses, and in the gentle light of a thousand stars..he looks like..like.. 

He bites his lip as he sees the reality sink in your eyes. 

‘Oh my.’ You gulp, but he quickly shrugs it off. 

‘Hi.’ He smiles boyishly.

‘Hi.’ You blush. 

‘And eh, I’m actually more of a sci-fi guy, you see.’ His deep voice sounds almost longingly as his blue eyes now turn to the dark sky that calls for him outside. 

Sighing softly he pushes his own glasses into his chest pocket, deciding he won’t need them for now - but it’s not just that; it also frees up his hands. With a hint of a smirk he turns his mischievous blues back to you.  

‘Want to see?’

The little sister (Alec Volturi x Reader)

“No, you are not coming (y/n) and that is final!” Your older brother Jacob said. “Why not?! Just because I cannot turn into a wolf does not mean I cannot defend myself! I can even take on Paul whenever he is in one of his moods!” You argued. Even though you had the heightened sense, strength and speed you could not actually turn into a wolf. But you sure as hell could beat a vampire’s ass if you had too. “I said no! You are my little sister, imagine what Rachel and Rebecca would say if you were killed and they found out it was me who let you fight?” Jacob said, running his hands through his hair, getting more and more frustrated by the minute.  “At least I would have died fighting for what I believe in! And not sit at home like a coward! Renesmee is your imprint, meaning she is family. And I will protect my family!” you said growing frustrated yourself. “Fine! But you will stay in the back. And only fight if you absolutely have too.” Jacob said, throwing his hand up in frustration and defeat. You smiled, proud of yourself that you stood up to your own brother.

Every vampire and shapeshifter was in the large open field. You were standing in the back along with your pack, protected by both Leah and Seth, slightly blocking your view. You felt slightly nervous as to what might happen. It was quiet for what felt like a long time, while in reality it might have been just a mere 30 minutes. Suddenly the nomad vampire Garrett was slightly jumping up and down in excitement. “The redcoats are coming! The redcoats are coming!” You took a deep breath, filling your lungs with fresh air as you saw the Volturi making their way onto the field. The oldest vampire with dark brown hair and milky red eyes looked over the crowd in front of him. The vampires made a halt and removed their hoods, showing their angelic faces and blood red eyes. Carlisle took a few steps forward, away from Esme. “Aro, let us discuss things as we used too. In a civilized manner.” Carlisle’s voice was calm and polite. The dark haired vampire had a small smile on his face as he replied. “Fair words Carlisle. But a little out of place given the battalion you have assembled against us.” the man’s voice was soft and smooth. As if he had done confrontations like this before. “I can promise you, that was never my intent.” Carlisle replied. Aro looked at Bella and Renesmee. “No laws have been broken.” Carlisle continued. You slightly stepped aside to have a better look at your foes. “We see the child. Do not treat us as fools.” a blond vampire male said. He was standing next to Aro and he had a bitter look on his face. Like a man who was out for revenge. “She is not an immortal! These witnesses can attest to that.” Carlisle replied, raising his voice slightly so every vampire and shapeshifter on the field could hear him. “You can look. See the flush of human blood on her cheeks.” “Artifice!” the blond vampire replied, not believing a thing Carlisle was saying. You stepped away a little bit more from your pack, earning you a small growl from Leah. You were intrigued by these vampires, but disgusted at the same time. After all, they were murderers. Aro held up his hand towards the blond vampire. “I will collect every facet of the truth, from someone more central to the story. Edward. As the child clings to your newborn mate, I will ask you.” Aro said as he held out his hand. Edward slowly made his way towards Aro while every vampire watched him. The wind changed slightly and a delicious smell hit your nose. It was a vampire, you knew for sure, but normally vampires do not smell so tempting. So luring. You had to find out whom smelled so incredibly good. You let your eyes wonder down the vampires, but you didn’t dare to go any further away from your pack than you already where. Instead, you concentrated back onto Aro and Edward. Aro grabbed Edwards hand and started to read his thoughts. A creepy smile slowly formed on Aro’s lips. “I’d like to meet her.” he told Edward, looking at Renesmee. Edward looked back to his wife and daughter. Bella nodded at Renesmee assumingly and started to make their way towards Aro, Jacob the werewolf close behind them. Emmett followed too, making sure Renesmee had enough protection. “Ah. Young Bella.” Aro said, looking at Bella. “Immortality becomes you.” his smile never leaving his face. Aro suddenly laughed and pointed at Renesmee. His laugh was that of a crazy person. “I can hear her strange heart.” Aro held out his hand for Rensemee as she slowly made her way towards him. “Hello Aro.” Renesmee said politely. Renesmee gently placed her hand on Aro’s cheek and Aro seemed amazed by her talent. “Magnifico.” he said before pulling away. Bella quickly pulled Renesmee back to her arms safely. “Half mortal, half immortal. Conceived and carried by this newborn, while she was still human.” he continued, speaking mostly to the Volturi. “Impossible!” the blond vampire replied. “Do you think they fooled me brother?” Aro asked the blond vampire. “Bring out the informer.” the blond vampire said, his voice cold. You knew he was out for death. He seemed to be the one of the three to be the most merciless. A blond female vampire with gold eyes was brought towards him. The blond vampire pointed at Renesmee. “Is that the child you saw?” The female looked at Renesmee and looked down. “I-I am not sure.” she replied. “Jane.” the male said. A lot of vampires around you tensed up. You couldn’t quite understand why. Clearly you should have done more research to this coven, but then again, you couldn’t care less. “She has changed.” the female quickly continued. “This child is bigger.” “Then your accusations where false.” the male still spoke with that icy voice. “The Cullens are innocent. I take full responsibility for my mistake.” the female vampire said. She turned to look at the group. “I am sorry.” she whispered slightly. Suddenly a torch was lit and the tension rose. “Caius no!” Edward yelled at the blond vampire. The female got her arms ripped and head ripped off by two Volturi vampires while Caius set her body on fire, an evil smirk plastered on his porcelain face. Tanya and Kate let out a scream of pain and tried to get to Caius, but they were held back by the allies. “Blind them.” Edward told Zafrina. Zafrina quickly blinded them and Edward tried to reason with the sisters. The sisters calmed down quickly. Leah and Seth took a step forward, finally giving you the chance to take a good look at the Volturi. That is when it happened. Your eyes fell upon a young man, no older than 17. His burgundy eyes found your (y/e/c) eyes. A heat flooded through you, stronger than before, but it was a new kind of heat - not a burning. It was a glowing. Everything inside you came undone as you stared at the handsome porcelain face of the vampire. All the lines that held you to your life were sliced apart in swift cuts, like clipping the strings to a bunch of balloons. Everything that made you who you were - your love for your brother, your love for your father, your loyalty to your pack, the love for your other brothers, your hatred for your enemies, your home, your name, your self - disconnected from you in that second - snip, snip, snip - and floated up into space. You were not left drifting. A new string held you where you were. Not one string, but a million. Not strings, but steel cables. A million steel cables all tying you to one thing  - to the very centre of the universe. You could see that now - how the universe swirled around this one point. You had never seen the symmetry of the universe before, but now it was plain. The gravity of the earth no longer tied you to the place where you stood. It was the vampire in the dark grey cloak, hair brown and pale so white as death itself.

“Ah, Alice.” Aro suddenly said. The ally group turned around and saw Alice and Jasper make their way towards Aro. She held out her hand to Aro and he gladly took it. Clearly what he saw scared him. Your gaze never once fell from the boy, even though you had no idea what his name might be, he had captured your full and undivided attention. And you knew, you would protect him if needed too. “That is what your future holds, if you do not change your course.” Alice said, removing her hand from Aro’s. “We cannot alter our course. The child still poses a great threat.” Caius said to Aro. “And what if you can be assured that she can be concealed from the human world? Could we leave in peace?” Edward asked. “Of course, but that cannot be known.” Caius replied. “Actually it can.” Edward replied and with that a male and female vampire made their way onto the field. “I have been searching for witnesses on my own.” Alice said. “Among the Tacuna tribes of Brazil.” “We have enough witnesses-” Caius wanted to say but was cut off by Aro. “Let him speak, brother.” “I am half human, half vampire. Like the child.” the male vampire started. “A vampire seduced my mother, who died giving birth to me. My aunt Huilen raised me as her own. I made her immortal.” “How old are you?” Bella asked, interrupting his story. “150 years.” the man replied. “At what age did you reach maturity?” Aro asked intrigued. “I became full grown, seven years after my birth. I have not changed since then.” the male replied. “And your diet?" Aro asked. "Blood. Human food. I can survive on either.” “These children are much like us.” The, what you assumed, third brother spoke in amazement. “Regardless, the Cullens have been consulting with werewolves. Our natural enemies!” Caius spoke. Aro put a hand on his brother’s shoulder and turned to his coven. “Dear ones. There is no danger here. We will not fight, today.” Aro spoke. all the allies relaxed. All of them except one. You felt slightly relaxed that there would be no fight, but your imprint was too far away from you, still in line of danger in your eyes. Even though the two of you had never broken eye contact, a young blond girl who looked similar to him nudged his shoulder, forcing him to break eye contact. You frowned as he turned around and not giving you a second glance.

You sighed and made your way away from all the happy vampires. You ran through the forest and towards the cliff. You needed a moment alone, to think. A vampire was your imprint yet he just walked away like nothing happened. You felt yourself shake slightly with anger and fear. Why? Why him? Why a bloody bloodsucker. You were standing on the edge of the cliff, ready to jump when two strong arms wrapped themselves around your waist and pulled you pack against a tree. “Are you insane?!” an angelic voice spoke. You opened your eyes and looked into the burgundy red ones of your imprint. “Do you want to die or something?!” he asked again as he held you close to his cold body. “It’s a sport around here. I wasn’t planning on killing myself.” You said as you tried to straighten up a bit. The boy sighed and took a small step back, holding onto your hand. He shook his head. “I already know you are going to be the death of me, my little mate.” He whispered but your heightened hearing caught his words perfectly. “And you will be the death of me. So at least make our time on this Earth worth our while then.” You said feeling slightly bold. The vampire chuckled and took you back in his arms, his lips merely a few inches away. “Agreed, amore mio.” He whispered before sealing his promise by pressing his ice-cold lips against your own hot lips.

Dogs or cats? Dogs. I’m allergic to cats, but also I have to admit that I just like dogs better (although I would have nothing against cats if they didn’t make me so itchy and sneezy).

YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities? I don’t really follow either (I generally get my celebrity news by osmosis through people I follow on social media) but I am not sure I could actually name a YouTube celebrity, so I guess normal?

If you could choose to live anywhere, where would it be? Ideally, I’d like to live in a whole bunch of wildly different places around the world, for like, a year or two at a time. But, I do also really like where I live now (aside from the massive earthquake that’s supposed to arrive at some point, which I would prefer, in my ideal world, not to have looming).

Disney or Dreamworks? If I have to choose, Disney.

Favourite childhood TV show? I actually didn’t watch a lot of TV as a kid. There’s a big gap between Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and my teenage obsession with Star Trek: The Next Generation. Although, now that I think of it, my sister and I were pretty into Square One TV, particularly their “Mathnet” segment. We may possibly have written Mathnet proto-fanfic?

The movie you’re looking forward to in 2020? Wonder Woman 1984, and Black Widow. (And maybe the live action Mulan? I’m not sure about that one, but I do really like the animated version.)

Favourite book you read in 2019? I - don’t know? I think I have quarantine brain. I wish the library would keep a record of books I’ve checked out so I could jog my memory of what I read last year!

Marvel or DC? Marvel, although there are definitely DC things I like too.

If you chose Marvel, favourite member of the X-Men? I think I saw one of the X-Men movies, a long time ago? Okay, either Professor Xavier because I love Patrick Stewart, or Wolverine because he’s Canadian. 😛 

Night or day? I like both, but I’m definitely a night person.

Favorite Pokémon? Pikachu? (who is also the only one whose name I know...)

Top 5 bands/artists? Gah, I’m so bad at picking favourites. Off the top of my head, five bands/artists I feel like listening to right now: Leonard Cohen, The Be Good Tanyas, The Barenaked Ladies, Liz Phair, Sarah McLachlan.

Top 10 books? I'm taking the pressure off myself and, rather than trying to figure out my top 10, I’m just listing the first 10 books I really like that come to mind (and cheating with series :)

Favourite vacation destination? I want to go everywhere! But I do really love the week every summer my kids and I usually spend unplugged at Mom and Kids camp.

Favourite YouTuber? Whoever it was that put up all those episodes of The Crocodile Hunter my kids have been devouring this month? ;) (yeah, I know that’s not the intent of the question)

Favourite author? I love so many for different reasons. I don’t know how on earth I would pick just one.

Tea or coffee?  Tea. I like the smell of coffee, but I’ve never learned to like the taste (although, I can usually manage to choke it down if it’s an Irish Coffee. ;)

OTP? Currently, Peggy Carter / Steve Rogers. But I have a List. :)

Do you play an instrument or sing? I can sort of play the piano - I took organ lessons as a kid, and have improved my piano skills since my own kids started taking lessons and I started piggybacking along. :) I played the clarinet for 7 years in school, and occasionally I dig it out (I can still play it, but I have next to no embouchure endurance). I also play the guitar, although I mostly just finger-pick chords to sing along to (but I can play a few other things like Blackbird by the Beatles). And finally, I sing alto in an early music chamber choir (although, not right now!)
