Voters in England, Scotland, and Wales
You will probably know that it is now a requirement to have photo ID when voting (we'll not go into how disenfranchismentally problematic it is here), but for a number of people, the may be reasons why they don't have accepted ID, or why they think their valid ID may not be accepted (e.g. your name or appearance is now different from what is on your valid ID).
There is a solution: the Voter Authority Certificate.
Per the official page, you can ask for a Voter Authority Certificate if:
you do not have accepted photo ID (if you're not sure, the accepted list of ID is here)
you no longer look like the photo on your ID
the name on your photo ID is different to your name on the electoral register
The closing date to apply is 5pm on 26 June 2024.
Also, if you are not registered to vote, there are still two days left to register - 11:59 pm tomorrow (18 June 2024) is the last day you can register.
You should have already received your polling card at the address that you're registered, so if you're not registered, or you need to change your address or polling method (e.g. to register to vote in person, by post, or by a proxy vote), you can do so here:

AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS; STATE GOVERNORS & LEGISLATURES
Implement Ranked-Choice Voting & Election Reforms For Vote Integrity
3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am writing to urge your immediate action on introducing and passing ranked-choice voting (RCV) and other vital election reforms at both the federal and state levels. As a concerned constituent and advocate for democratic principles, I believe that these reforms are essential to improving our electoral processes and ensuring fair and representative governance.
Ranked-choice voting has proven effective in promoting democratic outcomes by enabling voters to express their preferences more fully and ensuring that elected candidates enjoy broad support from the electorate. RCV mitigates wasted votes, reduces the spoiler effect, and fosters more inclusive and issue-focused campaigns.
In addition to advocating for ranked-choice voting, I strongly support comprehensive election reforms, including campaign finance reform, gerrymandering reform, and initiatives to enhance voter access and participation. These reforms are critical to strengthening our democracy and restoring trust in our electoral system.
The implementation of Ranked-Choice Voting is a crucial step towards enhancing our democratic process. RCV, which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference, ensures that elected officials have majority support, eliminates the spoiler effect, and encourages positive campaigning. This system is already in use in several U.S. cities and countries like Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. Alaska recently became the second state to adopt RCV for statewide offices, following Maine's lead. It is time to consider this reform at both federal and state levels to ensure our electoral systems reflect the diversity of our nation and empower all voices. Therefore, I urge you to introduce and support legislation that promotes RCV and other election reforms.
We must recognize that Americans are more than a two-party system. Let's take meaningful steps to ensure our electoral systems reflect the diversity of our nation and empower all voices.
Thank you for considering my perspective and taking decisive action to improve our electoral processes. I stand ready to support your efforts in advancing these important reforms.

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot since the debate is the fact that we are no longer having to choose a lesser of two evils. We now have a strong, vibrant, empathetic, and intelligent choice who will do her absolute best for us. The only way to have a president who you agree with 100% is to become president yourself. Her plan for the economy has been shown by economic experts to be far better for us than Trump’s economy. This was fact checked to be true. She is the candidate proven to support LGBTQ rights all her life. She is the candidate proven to support racial equality, she’s been fighting for it since she was a child. She is the candidate who grew up as a regular person. She is the candidate who cares about both Palestinians and Israelites (the citizens, not the corrupt government). She is the candidate who will push for a ceasefire. Let’s remember that she isn’t president right now. She doesn’t have any power unless there’s a tie to break in the Senate.
I truly believe that if we don’t see a real positive change in this country under Harris it will be because of Congress and Supreme Court pushback. And that is the worst case scenario with a Harris presidency. Nothing changes. What’s the worst case if Trump wins? A project 2025 dystopia. Best case? Increased racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, police brutality etc. The president serves as a role model beyond just their political power. If the commander in chief in a country says it’s okay to hate a certain group of people, the country is going to lay into that.

A quick reminder that when people say, "we were all for pride until they Went Too Far," what they often mean is, "I was never 'for pride' until it became a little more socially acceptable to say so without facing consequences."
Growing up (at least for myself), when gay marriage was still illegal, the same people who pretended they were always "for pride" were the same ones who'd've said, "But a child needs a mommy and daddy! Homosexuality is unnatural because of that!!" as an 'argument' as to why gay marriage deserved to stay illegal.

I know we all hate that Biden is still supporting Israel, however we need to remember TRUMP WILL NOT ONLY MAKE IT WORSE BUT WILL START DOING IT WITH OUR OWN RIGHTS AND BECOME A DICTATOR OVER HERE. Trump will only make things worse.
With Biden we keep our rights. With Trump, we will be struggling with living and keeping women and LGBTQIA+ alive.
We have no choice BUT to vote Biden.
Vote Biden. Vote blue. Fight for our rights.

In Alabama, two harmful bills have recently passed Senate and the House. It has been sent to the governor where it is believed to be signed. These two bills are SB 129 and SB 1.
SB 129: This is an Anti Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion act. It will take away gender neutral bathrooms, strip state funding from DEI programs within public universities and schools, bans DEI events, and bans the teaching of "divisive concepts". This will greatly disrupt the education environment, especially since it is incredibly broad and can be used for basically anything that may be seen as "divisive". This will also lead to the loss of jobs, as those who work on the DEI departments will likely be fired.
SB 1: This bill completely hinders the ability for voters to vote through absentee ballot as it will make it so people who aid absentee voters, whether it be showing them how they work or helping them deliver it like paying for the gas to drive there, can be charged with a felony. This will greatly impact a large amount of people, especially university students who are not registered to vote where their university is.
They are trying to silence and erase us. They are trying to make it so our voices cannot be heard by hindering our ability to vote. We CANNOT let them do that. This will hurt POC, lgbtqia+, and every minority community.
They think by ignoring us that gets rid of us, but we are still here. Please vote and call your representatives. Make your voice be heard whether they like it or not.
If your state is taking similar actions, do not stand by.

« State legislatures—where gerrymandering and low-turnout elections driven by hypercommitted activists often reign—have become ground zero for reactionary culture warring on many fronts, from reproductive rights to book bans to restrictions on pro-LGBTQ heresies. Important elements in the GOP coalition want fetal personhood laws as well, which could trap GOP legislators between those elements and more moderate suburban swing voters. Meanwhile, the Alabama decision is crystallizing a sense among Democrats that the last stand in defense of reproductive rights will unfold in the states. That’s enabling them to mobilize a socially liberal coalition in these oft-overlooked local contests while dramatically raising their stakes. »
— Jason Linkins at The New Republic.
Make Republicans take a public stand on in vitro fertilization (IVF). If they oppose it, they alienate socially moderate suburbanites. If they support it, they incur the wrath of Christian fundamentalist extremists. For a large number of GOP candidates it's a no-win situation.
ProTip: It's preferable to use the expression reproductive freedom than reproductive rights. It helps us to point out that MAGA Republicans are anti-freedom on a number of issues.

The 2022 midterms are crucial for trans rights
There have been few elections as critical to transgender Americans as this year’s midterms. Over the past year, 238 anti-trans bills have reportedly been introduced in dozens of state legislatures. Trans people and allies have undertaken vast efforts to beat back the onslaught of bigoted bills that have dotted the landscape of late. The most straightforward way to combat such acts, of course, is to vote for elected representatives who can best protect our basic human rights.
Hundreds of thousands of trans people could find themselves disenfranchised at the ballot box this year thanks to the strict voter ID laws.
