"Ai, living has no answer."
"When we're in pain, we search for an answer to feel better. A concise, absolute answer. But if you really want an answer… it's that there is no answer. There are no absolute in this world. Even if we think there is, in the end, it'll only make us feel better for a moment.
If there are no absolute, then what's left?
Bonds. Bonds between individuals. Bonds between one another. That's all there is.
That also changes with time. A huge trigger can cause a huge change. Bonds may be severed. But new bonds can also be formed. So living is a series of bonds.
That's what life is.
I have to do that forever?
Yes.
That's a lot of work.
Yeah.
I'd need to be so strong.
That's why people become stronger. That occasionally leads to conflicts. But even if that happens, we have to keep fighting. Keep searching for bonds, even if there's no answer.
You can't rush living."
So I saw on MyFigureCollection that October 13 was maybe possibly Yusaku's birthday, although I couldn't find any reliable source for this. I'd have loved to do something nice and light-hearted for the occasion, but I'm still feeling too strongly about it all. So here you are instead: Happy (maybe) Birthday, Yusaku! Please have some trauma to go with your trauma. Here's to another year of fending off expectations and looking for your own life and its non-answers with eyes wide open and always filled with hope.

Tumblr’s Core Prodct Stratgy
Here at Tumblr, we’ve been working hard on trying to keep our sinking ship afloat for as long as possible. This means desperately trying to copy every new fly-by-night social media app that some multi-billionaire sh*t out during their daily Peloton routine. What follows is the strategy we're using to accomplish the goal of user growth. If you find the things we say here worrisome, please understand that is our exact intention. You've outgrown our target demographic. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The Diagnosis
It's lookin' pretty bad y'all!
After somehow losing hundreds of thousands of users during the great pr0n purge of 2018, we started to wonder if anything could be done to get back to where we were. We even brought in a management consultant who charged us a ridiculous amount of money. It would make you sick if you knew how much, but we got a few nice meals out of it at least. Anyhow, we handed this guy the app, and HE HAD NO IDEA HOW TO USE IT! It was f*cking hilarious! But suddenly it all clicked -- our users are a bunch of stupid idiots who can't even do basic arithmetic. I mean, they spend all day looking at their phones, so what do you expect?
Tumblr’s best feature is its unique content and vibrant communities. But who cares, right? We're just as happy getting traffic from people sh*t-posting memes, vague-booking, giving out-of-context hot takes to news events, and spewing whatever random thought is in their head at the moment. Plus that stuff doesn't p*ss off Apple.
To keep this thing going we need new people. And by "people" we mean teenagers, like we used to have back in the good ol' days. Unfortunately we're all in our 40s now, so we have no idea what they want. But teenagers are so cool! Imagine if they talked to us like we're one of them? We're getting hard just thinking about it.
Our Guidng Principls
To make Tumblr cool again, we must address these huge glaring issues.
People can look at a blog without logging in. How is that fair to all the poor schlubs who had to fill out forms to get an account? Also we haven't figured out a way to force ads onto the personalized pages yet. But we swear that's not the main reason.
People can see content they are looking for or linked to. People can keep up with blogs they follow. But the problem with this is, people don't know what they want. We know what they want! We're smart. We wrote this damn site, remember?
Promote posts that incite pointless conversations. Posts that are guaranteed to bait every troll into responding. Isn't that why all your Magat relatives love Facebook so much? We can do that!
P*ss off your content creators in every way possible (see #2).
Create algorithms that throw an unending barrage of irrelevant content in your face. Have you seen Instagram lately? We could do that so easy!!!
The app is slow. The website is slow. Obviously this is because of GIFs. Facebook and Instagram don't allow them, so why should we?
Conclusion
Our mission changes on a day-to-day basis. Right now we're super jealous of all the attention that new Threads thing is getting. We're still not sure what it is, but we're gonna download it after work.

How I would have made "False Zelda" land more effectively in Tears of the Kingdom:
Important context, Rauru and Sonia, canonically, HAVE to have had a kid. That's how descendants work. In my vague overarching rewrite, I made this kid the one that leads you around the Sky Isles.
TLDR: To protect her while the gloom evaporated and the monsters died off, Zelda sent Rauru and Sonia's kid up with the isles before going dragon. For the sake of simplicity, I'm calling her Little Princess.
Anyways.
TotK, as canon has it, likes to have its cake and eat it, too. We blatantly SEE Zelda in these cutscenes with the sages
But the new sages go "hey, that looked like Zelda, even though that can't happen!" And the whole "the Sage of Time is Zelda" is treated like a big reveal-
-when we already KNOW she's gone back in time.
And that's doubled up on with how Puppet Zelda looks. Clearly, this is the same girl. Come on now.
I think we can compound this more, make all the beats knit together a little better.
For starters, the Yiga traps are the same. It's still Zelda, exactly how Link remembers her. I'd add more instances of her, personally, to increase the chance that Link finds her BEFORE figuring out the back-in-time fake-princess mess that's going on.
Recall Zel and Final Memory Zel are also the same. The ceremonial dress suits her for this beat in time, and her dress being like Sonia's is a good homage to Dead Mom 2.
Puppet Zel is where we start changing things. It's easy to say that Ganondorf made her look like Zonai Zel because that's how he best remembers her, but he SAW her in modern Hyrulean getup. He knows that's how Link sees her. Puppet Zel, for maximum confusion, should look like Modern Zel. I think that would make the Yiga traps a bit more convincing, too.
Memory Zel should NOT have gone full-ceremonial-Zonai so quickly. I mean, it's fine that she did, in canon, because there isn't as much stake in recognizing her there, but for this setup? She stays in her Hyrulean gear up until at least Memory #7.
This is a good place to break out Zonai-style regalia. There's an in-universe reason for her to dress up so fancily, and to match the other two. Personally, I'd give her a more casual, less-fancy Zonai outfit AFTER Memory #7, but it's not technically necessary.
But she changes her clothes again following Memory #10, gearing up for war.
This is where we bring in the next big change to this setup.
Sage of Time Zelda should be completely different here. Nintendo wanted us to buy into the "oh, she looks like Zelda, what if…" but it's just transparently Zelda.
First off, the sages all had masks. We should give her one.
Not THIS one, but similar-ish shape. She wears a mask that looks like a Zonai face, and does her hair up differently. Her sleeves are long, maybe with a long skirt, and you can find clues (similar to the flower-shaped sky isles that give history) that say she was designing an outfit to protect from gloom. Maybe with Sheikah blue accents for flavor. You can get this outfit eventually, and a full upgrade renders you immune to gloom from enemy strikes specifically.
Most importantly, though, her hair is done up identically to Little Princess. The big "who could it be" is torn between Zelda, who you haven't seen in that outfit before, and Little Princess, who you don't know much about yet.
During the sages' flashbacks, she doesn't speak, you just see her head nodding and her hands moving the way Link does in dialogue as the sage talks over her, and that lends more credit to the "maybe it's NOT Zelda" thread the game was going for.
And then, when you find Mineru, you see the full scene of the final battle
And it's very clearly Zelda at that point. She's still dressed up in her anti-gloom gear (which is how she survived the attack while the other sages didn't), but the mask has fallen off and you can see it's her.
She goes back to the ceremonial regalia for the Master Sword and draconification scenes. I would tuck a Sundelion into her hair during the Master Sword scene to hammer home even more that she's in mourning. Even better, she puts it down on the altar before she swallows the Secret Stone, and around that altar is one of the few places it grows.
Bonus round: The Zonai mask is what helps you find Draconified Zel's location in the sky, and it's part of the reward for Mineru's questline. Zelda left it on the ground next to the Secret Stone pedestal.

Watching some pre-season two interviews, it honestly feels like Kausar and Raini have been teasing the current Yasammy arc for a while now. This interview here is from last year's San Diego Comic Con, about seven months after writing for the whole show was finished, so they had likely already recorded or at least seen their lines up to season four.
youtube
There's a lot of talk about Yaz and Sammy figuring out what their future together might look like, figuring out who they are and how to approach their relationship outside the context of a trauma bond, and the importance of showcasing that long term relationships can have their high points and their low points.
And they probably got away with this because it would be taken in the context of the season one argument, but to be honest, two out of three of these have yet to be seen. We saw one of their lower points in season one for sure, but we still haven't seen them get the opportunity to focus on themselves or their relationship pretty much since that argument. They haven't discussed what their future together might look like, and they haven't had an opportunity to separate themselves and each other from the circumstances enough to really think about "okay, what about just you and me, what are WE doing, where are we going after this, how do we maintain this when we don't need each other to survive?"
And in another interview (which I'll link if I can find it again), Kausar talked about being excited for the exploration of Yaz's healing and how it's not linear and she'll have moments of uncertainty and not knowing how to handle things and "when she sees a friend going through something, how to not project something onto them". She also explicitly said she was excited for "the messiness of it". While a bit of this can definitely be applied to Yaz getting overwhelmed playing therapist in season two, that lasts for all of three seconds. Season two then gets an absolutely GOLDEN opportunity in All Night Long to tackle Yaz's trauma and where she's at with it, and it just doesn't. Yaz doesn't get to be messy in season two. Her journey of healing gets very little focus in season two.
This leads me to believe that Kausar was talking about later seasons. Yaz is HELLA messy in season three, and I do think it comes from a place of projection. She projects how she feels about Brooklynn onto Sammy and can't handle it when that doesn't match up with how Sammy actually feels. There even seems to be a bit of projecting onto Brooklynn, with her whole "well she reached out a little bit and even though she gave us nothing of substance it still means something", because Yaz has been there. She knows what it's like to have a "not enough" response be all she can give at the moment, and she won't fault Brooklynn for it because she spent a long time doing that with Sammy. She doesn't see it as a rejection because it never was when she did it, regardless of how it feels to everyone else or even how Brooklynn actually meant it.
In season four, she's probably going to have to reflect on this behavior, and it'll probably play a huge role in her patching things up with Sammy.
And even with all this talk about how the relationship can be messy and complicated and how it's not easy, Kausar and Raini still talk a fair amount about Yaz and Sammy being a good love story. Kausar describes them in one video as "a couple that is truly meant to be together". She also describes their relationship as "a really strong and special one". Raini talks a lot in the above interview about how natural their relationship is.
I think we're in for a real treat in season four. Them figuring out what their future looks like together. Figuring out how to approach their relationship when being in danger isn't enough to force them through their low points. Actually getting on the same page about what they want and need, because while they both clearly want to be together, there's obviously a disconnect. Raini talked in another interview about how Sammy doesn't really understand why she couldn't be a part of Yaz's healing journey. And Yaz clearly doesn't understand how making that decision without a proper explanation and reaffirming to Sammy that she wasn't really leaving her behind was extremely harmful. This is their lowest low, but high points are mentioned as much as low ones. It's darkest just before dawn.
Honestly, I'm just glad they're finally getting some focus. Season two was cute with all the little moments, but they were little, usually blink-and-you'll-miss-it background things. Nothing was really about them in that season. Now they get this whole arc to themselves, and while it does intersect with other things like Brooklynn and Sammy's family situation, it's still largely about them.
I have literally never been more confident in a season giving me great Yasammy moments, because this time it genuinely has to. The narrative chose to start this whole plot thread of them finally starting to acknowledge the things that they need to, and there's nowhere else to go with it other than finally unpacking those things and coming to understand each other better. They love each other so, so deeply. They're both going to want to find a solution, and when they do, they'll be able to be together in a much healthier and more comfortable way.
(Also side note, Kausar says here that no one knew at first that these two would be a couple, and so did Scott Kreamer in a recent interview, so I'm not sure what that's about with the whole "they were planned from the very beginning" that supposedly Kausar said at some point but I can't find a source. Maybe someone made that up, or maybe it was supposed to mean that by the time they were writing actual scripts for season one they knew what they wanted to do with them. I have no idea.)

I still remember what Jensen said years ago, I think he would disagree with Rob and Rich https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GjTN6m5WUAAxsWG?format=jpg&name=small
Here's the content of that link. Many apologies for reposting, but:
So, my first answer to this is, as I've said before, I am infinitely more interested in the text itself than I am in what any of them say about it, and the text is what it is (GAY). What's nice about these episodes of Rich & Rob's podcast is that they are actually responding to the thing we all saw in our TV box, and saying "Dial it down to 11 guys, geez," which: Yes. Good to know y'all can see a church by daylight.
But also, in the Q&A format at a con, there are loads of different reasons Jensen might say this or that. What's the context here? Who is he onstage with? What's the crowd like? What exactly was the question? Also, this answer rightly acknowledges that the "whole Dean and Cas thing" was poppin' off in season 8. Well spotted. Perhaps he is thinking that the show needed to separate them for awhile so they wouldn't have to just fucking make out already? In fact, perhaps that was exactly the thinking, because honestly, season 9 goes off on the star-crossed Destiel, complete with parallel cross-species romances to interrogate proof of concept and some serious Romeo and Juliet-ass shit:
Dean praying to Cas and saying "I need you here" while he agonises about what to do about Sam; the whole painful kicking Cas out of the bunker storyline with the yearning date prep and the fanfic gap (plus LOADS of other shit in that episode); Cas gets killed by April and Dean tenderly cradles his face and then is jealous about the sex; they have a big vulnerable heart-to-heart about the Sam situation and why Dean kept Cas away and Cas forgives him immediately and helps Dean; Dean takes the mark of Cain and the Crowley/Dean/Cas love triangle start revving up; Collette is invented for the sole purpose of paralleling Cas; the Garth is a werewolf episode is here about finding love in unexpected places! love Is love, yo!; the fitness centre episode with its many implications that Dean is into dudes; Metatron's speech about what gives a story meaning; Gabriel calls Cas Dean's boytoy; Metatron tells Cas "I left you human because I hoped you would live happily ever after" because HE KNOWS; the whole Romeo and Juliet thing in episode 20 with the werewolf/shapeshifter romance that pointedly mirrors Dean and Cas; Dean drops everything to go help Cas, leading to Cas giving up his army for one man; Hannah is invented to throw another triangle into the works; Metatron says Cas is in love..............with humanity; Dean dies (Juliet much?) and comes back a demon.
Like, I am leaving LOADS out.
Firstly? They were 💯 writing it like that. They leaned the fuck in every chance they got. And secondly, y'all get that Jensen pointedly does not talk about subtext, or things that the story is doing on the DL, or about things that haven't happened yet, and he doesn't talk about any of Dean's feelings that Dean would not openly talk about himself? Jensen is actually admirably disciplined and principled about it? And, you know that he could also just be disingenuous on purpose to avoid doing so, and to allow unspoken things to remain unspoken? If he just tells us, where's our joy in figuring it out going to come from? Y'all should THANK HIM for not stealing our joy.
I personally think? Jensen is clever. He is very intentional and I think he knows what he's doing. If you consider that Jensen talks AS DEAN in cons and never goes beyond something Dean would say, well...then it makes sense he would say that in light of the fact that anyone who understands narrative can see that the text itself is WALL TO WALL star-crossed Destiel, because that's what happens when you separate them and then write them as you have been all along. I'm glad he enjoyed it! Me too!
Like, either you think Jensen is a full idiot, or you have to admit that there might be layers to the things he says.
#destiel#jensen ackles#supernatural#anon ask#and ps all those guys are friends#do you think rich and rob are just going off the reservation in ways that would piss off their buddy#who has control of the IP?

Band AU bullet points / slight timeline of events
This IS an AU, and they’re MY barbies I can make them kiss when I WANT /silly
Here are general bullet points for the Band AU with a slight timeline of events. Reblogs are so appreciated :)
If I write out a scene that's here I'll link the post and reblog this post as a sort of master list? Maybe? I'll figure it out. Also here's the playlist for the AU :)
Cw: mentions of parent death, implied neglect, drug abuse, assault, ooc characters
A little context---
Band Name: Tulpar
Record Label: Pony Express Records
Genre: Rock and Metal
Canon divergence note: Anya does get assaulted, but by her boyfriend instead of Jimmy. I don’t really have a character set up for the boyfriend yet, but I wanted to keep that as an element of her story
Curly on guitar and vocals, Jimmy on guitar and scream vocals, Anya on bass and fills for drums, Daisuke on drums and synth/keyboard, fills for bass sometimes when he’s feeling confident and Anya wants to switch it up
Swansea is their manager right before they go pro and remains their manager when they sign with P.E Records! He is the one the band has to impress with their new songs. If he doesn’t like it, it doesn't get used
Curly and Jimmy formed Tulpar in their junior year of high school. Originally it was going to remain the two of them(Curly was learning drums), but the two clicked with Anya and Daisuke almost immediately during senior year (they were both transfer students).
It for sure took convincing for Jimmy to let them join the band. He made them ‘prove’ they were ‘worthy of finding a place in their art’
They totally fucking blew him away (Curly was a little smug about it after Jimmy conceded.)
Jimmy does bond with Dai and Anya over the years
Dai is the one to propose they go pro. His parents have lots of connections in Hollywood and production, so it’d be easy to find someone willing to listen to them and give them a chance on the billboards
Jimmy gets a little pissy about this (he’s huge into actually working for things in life and hates the idea of using connections to get his success) and storms off without saying anything (normally he’d be dragged out of the room screaming. He’s been working on his temper since senior year. Curly literally slapped it into him that the world isn't highschool and he needs to change the way he acts around people if he wants to retain friendships)
But Jimmy’s mom dies. His dad can't take the grief and follows her into the afterlife. Jimmy breaks down and he’s lashing out at every turn
The rest of the crew take it for months and months, with Curly explaining that Jimmy's really going through a lot and should be patient. He would talk to him later if he hasn't calmed down in a few days
But it just gets worse over the days
Jimmy is constantly putting down the rest of his bandmates but mostly targets Anya as she is the most insecure of the group and finds it easier to spit poison at
One day she visits Curly to discuss this (Salt and Mouthwash scene here)
Jimmy ends up apologizing but it takes time for things to return to normal for all of them
Dai brings in Swansea, a music critic for them to workshop songs with
He goes full manager mode, disapproving of songs the crew thought for sure he’d love and approving ones they were really on the fence about
Insert training montage here
Swansea eventually brings them in front of P.E Records execs
After a brutal five week waiting period, Tulpar officially signs with Pony Express records
To celebrate, the crew goes out clubbing. Anya hooks up with a girl for the first time. Lesbain shenanigans ensue in the bathroom. Jimmy and Curly get a little too drunk. Daisuke pukes outside of the car (and tries really hard to not puke inside the car. He fails.)
Sleepover at Curly’s house (they all forgot they had exams in the morning and Curly’s house is right next to the campus.) Jimmy gets flirty and lonely when he’s drunk and through the heightened emotional states of it all, he goes in for a kiss
Daisuke stumbles into Curly’s room thinking it’s the bathroom. Almost pukes on the carpet like an ill cat.
They startle apart and when Curly comes back from leading Dai to the bathroom Jimmy is already asleep (he’s a little faker- he’s just embarrassed)
Exams go like shit the next morning and everyone is too stressed to go back out and get their cars so it’s a week-long study session at Curly’s while everyone crams
Song writing breaks that become too frequent. Swansea suddenly appears to oversee the studying (Dai’s parents sent him over to check on him, but he finds a reason to stay and supervise. Writing breaks become nonexistent) and he actually helps everyone with studying. He’s the one to propose flash cards and Anya hs to scream into a pillow because why didn't she think of that sooner? Then again when she realizes She did, but her flashcards were in her car. Which was at the bar. Which was an hour away because they’re all idiots.
Swansea and Curly get her car for her and convince her to take a break from her own material while they’re out (Dai just asks her to help him with studying.)
Jimmy like a fucking DOG keeps himself from begging to go with them, but Swansea says “I’ve known how to drive longer than your daddy’s been shooting into socks. Anya’s car will be safe with me, kiddo,” and pushes Curly out the door lmao
On the way, Swans and Curly have a little heart-to-heart and Swans reveals he’s been family friends with Dai’s parents for years and they’re actually large shareholders of the record company.
Curly doesn't care, not really, but he feels his stomach drop and his heart drown in fire. Jimmy could never find out about this. He can hardly keep the radio on during his solo drive back
When they arrive back at Curly’s, Dai and Anya are passed out on the couch while Jimmy sits wide awake at the dining-room table. Swansea sees no reason to stick around (“I went to the club for the first time in twenty years, Grant. I need to get home and sleep it off.”) and dips.
Exams go a little better, but on the last day Anya gets pulled over on her shame-stop to Burger King. She has a panic attack during the stop and it gives her the idea to write HAMMS IN A GLASS. She’s caught humming it and tapping on the coffee table one day while Swansea is over discussing logistics or whatever with Curly. He full stops their conversation, tells Anya to polish it and have it to him by the end of the week (“Motherfucker I might not have a degree if I think about anything other than my tests and where the fucking rotator cuffs are, PLEASE”), and then LEAVES (“Guess I’ll find what our budget will be after you’re finished…”)
She tries to workshop it with Dai between classes (he’s in an engineering course, but their buildings are pretty close together)(Ive only taken online college classes please) but Dai is becoming increasingly unavailable. She turns to her boyfriend. The night they work on it, he gives her a drink to help her relax from all the stress she’s been under
But he takes advantage of her that night. When she realizes what he’s done she flees to Curly’s house. Her boyfriend follows her, accusing her of cheating when she gets to the door and Curly is there to catch her.
Curly tries hard to deescalate the situation, but when Jimmy catches wind of what’s happening at the door he makes his appearance (anya had no idea why he was there (gay reasons) but grateful for the surprise help). Jimmy punches his FUCKING lights out (“I didnt do it for you, Anya. That guy was pissing me off. So I took care of it… Now he won’t mess with either of us, alright?”). Everyone thinks it’s a little hot, even the guy getting punched (hey, everyones having a gay awakening this evening, huh?)
Anya stays the night, thwarting Jimmy’s plans to dick Curly down sexual style at last.

So... I'm doing research for a piece of creative non-fiction (a personal essay) I'm writing for one of my uni assignments about the fact that I'm asexual and demiromantic and think that we, as a wider society, have gotten the concepts of love and attraction all wrong, and I've been researching more into the split attraction model because, well, I see it as something that's important and relevant, and this came up in my Google search:
The initial red flag of this article is the fact that it's on BetterHelp. I didn't see this at first, and did a double take.
Anyway, the first thing I would like to ask is: what are these 'cons'? As far as I'm concerned, there are none. I understand that, for many people, romantic and sexual attraction are intrinsically linked, but, for many, they're not, and the split attraction model existing doesn't harm the former - it helps the latter. The latter includes people who are on the asexual and/or aromantic spectrums, as well as people who are, for example, heteromantic and bisexual, panromantic and homosexual, biromantic and heterosexual, etc. - basically anyone whose experiences differ between their romantic and sexual attraction.
I do find it a bit annoying that, when many people talk about both of these kinds of attraction, they lump them into one 'label', which is mostly [something]sexual (e.g. heterosexual, homosexual, etc.). But, for them, the two are linked, so referring to themselves as [something]sexual to cover both seems fine and dandy. Which... it is. However, I find it wild that people don't realise that, despite the fact that the two may seem linked to them, they are actually two different experiences. People who are both alloromantic and allosexual should be able to see this, right? They can think someone is sexually attractive yet not be romantically attracted to or want to date them. That is a thing that can happen.
Anyway, I decided to read through the article. It isn't bad, per se - much of the information is useful, and it seemed to be quite positive. Until I got to the 'cons':
Now, I'm not really into the discourse surrounding the split attraction model - in fact, I didn't realise there was discourse surrounding it. This is because I tend to, either accidently or on purpose, avoid discourse in general. But... 'oversexualisation'? In what context? If anything, not using the split attraction model would be considered 'oversexualisation' (even though I don't think that that is, either - I honestly don't know why this word has been brought up here) due to the fact that many people focus on sexual attraction over any kind of attraction and use it to cover romantic attraction, too, when they talk about it. I genuinely have no idea what they are referring to here.
In regard to the second point: what? Attraction is complex. That's the whole thing. The split attraction model makes it less complex for many people. It allows people to figure out who they are and have the terminology to be able to voice it. Attraction is a spectrum and so is gender. Of course both of them are going to be complex. Society made both of them rigid in the first place, so breaking out of those rigidities is going to be confusing for everyone. The split attraction model helps people understand themselves, and I would like to think it helps them understand others. Everyone benefits.
I don't know if I can speak much on the third point, as I'm not familiar with the discourse, as I previously mentioned, and don't really know what it entails. Though, in saying this... what do they mean? When has asexuality - or aromanticism, for that matter - ever been prioritised over other queer identities? There's a severe lack of discussion and education surrounding both of them. That's just a fact. People who are asexual and/or aromantic are oftentimes even shunned by the wider queer community they are a part of. I don't really have much more to add on this point because I'm so confused by it. By the way, this article barely talks about aromanticism, despite the fact that it's an important part of this model, too.
The last point is just a rehash of the second point. If I was told about any of this stuff growing up, I would have realised I was ace and demiromantic from the start. Instead, I realised I was ace a few years ago after watching Jaiden Animations' video about the fact that she's aroace (I don't want to use the term 'coming out' here because, frankly, I hate it - I'll save that rant for another time). I only realised I was demiromantic in the past month after... realising that people getting romantic crushes on and/or falling in love with someone when they barely know them is actually a thing that happens and isn't fake. These two terms fit me best at the moment, and explain everything. If I had've known these terms as a teenager, that would have been great. The split attraction model helped me so much in breaking down myself and my identity, and offered me the foundation I needed to ask myself questions. Yeah, attraction and gender are confusing - I said it before, and I'll say it again. But why would you cast something so helpful aside? That will only hinder people - both those who are struggling with their own identity and those who are trying to understand the identities of others. Education surrounding the complexities and spectrums of attraction and gender are so important, and this model will help people teach other people about attraction.
I also read a bunch of hate comments, as one does whenever they go on Reddit or Twitter or literally any social media platform ever, regarding the split attraction model. This didn't surprise me. These specific people seem to hate this model because... well, I don't really know. They were mostly spewing aphobia. I don't think a single one had a constructive point. Also, most of the search results for 'split attraction model' on Google are actually critiques of it, or articles talking about critiques of it and being on the fence. Come on, people. Do better.
Anyway, the split attraction model is important. Education is important. Allowing people to figure out who they are and express it is important. This should all go without saying.
That is all.
#my ramblings#my writing#i want this out there somewhere so i'm actually tagging multiple things for once in my life#asexual#aromantic#aroace#ace#aro#lgbtqia+#split attraction#split attraction model#uhhhhhh#i don't know what else to tag#if you've read this far... hi#edited because some of the sentences didn't flow as well as i wanted them to lmao

A long and meandering post about Adachi and the Investigation Team
I have no idea what to title or describe this as. This is a long ass rambling 2.5k+ word post that consists of like 5 drafts I had sitting around that all felt somewhat related. It starts with the part where the Investigation Team tells Adachi to get over himself, then devolves into talking about Adachi punching himself in the face repeatedly (metaphorically), before ending by exploring the idea of Adachi as the Investigation Team's collective Shadow. it rly is tl;dr.
Adachi will remember that
At one point in Magatsu Inaba, the Investigation Team takes turns responding to Adachi in verbal turn-based combat. They all have varying responses and levels of understanding of him.
Chie doesn't understand why Adachi even became a cop, Rise thinks he's full of shit, Kanji tells him a 2008 version of "go kys" (tbf, he's never been eloquent with words), Yukiko tells Adachi that he sounds like a kid, Naoto calls him out for finding life annoying while being a damn annoyance, and Yosuke tells him he's just a criminal.
What Yukiko says to him in particular appears to sting Adachi, evident by how he "!" emotes in reaction to her. Or idk maybe he's secretly into getting bullied by women. I think Yukiko has Adachi's number here, and he knows that. After all, part of his schtick is that, "Oh, you stupid fuckin' kids, you don't know what I've been through or how I feel! Get off my dungeon lawn!!!" And yet, one of those stupid kids is able to tl;dr his life, and even says, "no u -- you're the stupid kid" back at him. He later even repeats what she said back at Sho during Ultimax.
What Yukiko says here, I think, stands out in particular not just because of Adachi's reaction but also because it resembles a sentiment found in other media: The contradiction of being alive while not "truly" being alive. This often goes like so: A character can be alive in that they are most certainly physically living and breathing, but they are largely closed off from the rest of the world and going through the motions. Thus they are said to not truly "be alive".
In the context of Persona 4, I believe Adachi fits in with this trope. As Yukiko has assessed, life sucks, but it's not like he's in any hurry to die. From what we see of Adachi in the plot, he's going through the motions. He wakes up, goes to his job, goes to Junes to bum free air conditioning, and sometimes gets dragged over to Dojima's house.
I don't think it's bad that people fall into these routines by default. Some find them comforting, some appreciate the simplicity, and some make up for the monotony of adult life with the more fascinating things they do outside of work.
But this doesn't feel like it applies to Adachi because he openly groans about his life and job. He seems to want to live and fit in with society, but he wants to do so with more than what he has right now, yet he also seems unwilling or unable to get what he wants. He also seems unwilling to put in the effort - he tells us he's lonely and wants a girlfriend, but when the old woman from his Social Link tries to hook him up with a girl, he finds it all annoying. He thinks of himself as an elite detective who is above Inaba, but he is regularly made out to be incompetent, sloppy, and careless.
It's like he's stuck but not doing anything to become unstuck. Following the tropes, Adachi would move from being a character who is "alive without really being alive" to "Truly Living" once he figures out how to get himself un-stuck. If he truly wants to be a hotshot detective in the big city with a smokin' hot wife, then something needs to change because he won't get those things as he is now.
But how does Adachi approach the subject of "change"? (Spoiler: Not well.)
Maybe the world really is just a shitshow?
Adachi being exposed as the murderer is a major turning point for the murder investigation. And after the Investigation Team chases him into the TV, one of the many things he talks about is "change", or rather a lack of change.
As far as Adachi is concerned, the world can't / won't / doesn't change. He criticizes the world and its inability to change, how society works, and how people will latch to whatever you tell them as the truth.
Some things he says might resonate with us, especially nowadays with the spread of social media and misinformation. However, despite these criticisms, it sounds like he still desires to be part of society. (Yes, I know, this sounds like that one "We should improve society somewhat" comic, but Adachi did not want to "improve society" lbr LOL.) He has been trying to blend in as a normal guy since April despite being a murderer. I think it's worth reiterating that his complaints about his life weren't anarchist but more like, "I don't have a cute girlfriend who cooks for me." Furthermore, he was trying to take advantage of misinformation to get away with murder by pinning it on Namatame.
Adachi doesn't like the current world and doesn't think it will change. Thus, he is forcing it to change in a completely catastrophic way. He really is throwing a tantrum: Like, what, you can't get away with murder? All right, throw the whole world away. With this approach, it is not Adachi who must change to fit in with the world, but rather the world that must change to fit Adachi.
Change isn't a good subject with him, which, honestly, is relatable. Change is easier said than done. Even within Persona 4 itself, after getting Magical TV Powers, an event that feasibly might add spice to one's life!!, the same old routine still runs Adachi's life. What has changed is that he's now waiting for Namatame to kill someone. Showing up looking for a dead body in the shopping district is simply a new part of his routine.
This topic of Adachi and change gets wrapped up after the fight against Amenosagiri. Adachi challenges the Investigation Team: >>>If<<< they think they have the power to change the future, then do it.
After entering the TV World, Amenosagiri responds to Adachi's wish and makes his wish come true as the dungeon deadline bad ending shows. That was Adachi's own so-called power to change the future. So what is the Investigation Team's?
Yosuke then replies that everyone has the power to change their future. As in, you don't need special powers from a gigantic disco eyeball inside of a TV to do that. In context, Yosuke is telling Adachi, "This is a 'you' problem," or "Skill issue." And tbh, I think Yosuke is more or less correct here.
In which we revisit the topic of "dumbass" and effort
In some ways, this topic might seem odd to approach. Everyone on the Investigation Team - besides Chie - seems to have a better life situation than Adachi had when he was their age. Are they punching down? Perhaps it feels like a hollow reflection of the collectivist culture that the solution to these antagonists who go "BUT SOCIETY IS WHAT IS WRONG" is always to beat them up and force them to conform--
…..but hold on. That line of thought would be giving in to what Adachi says before his boss battle. And, based on how he quits talking about how "waaah society is unfair" afterward, I find it difficult to think that is what he genuinely believes about his situation.
When I suggest that Yosuke is correct, I don't mean this in a "You aren't special, Adachi, everyone else's life sucks too, just deal with it" kind of way. What I have in mind is how the game seems to support that this is an Adachi problem, not an everyone else problem. Throughout Adachi's Social Link, his other interactions, and what Atlus has said as meta / Word of God answers, you get the idea that people were trying with Adachi, but he wasn't meeting them halfway.
For example:
This entire post is about the effort the MC puts in just to get called a dumbass (though I'd bet that the protag considers Adachi calling him a dumbass to be like a Badge of Honor). Even their gay ass Fever Time in P4D tells the story of Yu trying to reach out and Adachi going, "No!!!"
The old woman in his Social Link is trying to wingwoman for him and hook him up with women in Inaba, but Adachi seems unwilling. Instead, he tells Nanako and the protagonist that he's never getting married. Despite his loneliness, he justifies himself by saying, "Marriage is the graveyard of a man's life."
The Dojima family and Adachi interact briefly throughout the game, both in the story scenes and in his Social Link. As his letter at the end of the game shows, Adachi felt lukewarm about their interactions because he wasn't quite aware of what he had with them until he no longer has their company.
The way I see it, when Adachi rants about the world not changing, he is not actually bitching about the world. Rather, this feels more like a form of projection. He says the world doesn't change, but perhaps he is talking about himself and his own inability to change. Which would reframe it as more like… He knows he's the issue that holds himself back - his own worst enemy, perhaps - but he says the world is wrong to justify himself.
You learn a bit about Adachi through his Social Link. During rank 6, in dialogue that can tragically be missed, Adachi will admit that he is lonely, but he also thinks it's easier that way. And really, easier is just another way of saying "less effort".
On one hand, this might show Adachi's annoyance with other people. But at the same time, for him to call the protagonist a dumbass for investing so much in him and their relationship, for him to pass up the matchmaking from the older woman at Junes while complaining about being single....... I think the unspoken bit here is that Adachi does not think he is worth the time or effort to begin with. His lack of effort isn't just him being annoyed with people or not giving a shit about things, it's a lack of effort into himself. I'm no expert, but I think the majority of us would wager that this is depression.
As the game's timeline unfolds, we really only know Adachi as the pathetic, silly murder guy. Did he start distancing himself from people and quit caring about the effort he puts into himself because of the "oops, I murdered someone" part? Or was he like this even before then?
When he talks more about his past, he doesn't go into a great amount of detail. But, going with my gut here, I get the feeling that Adachi's obsession with Mayumi - something from before he became a murderer - suggests his distance from people is not a new thing for him.
Consider: Meeting people? Forming relationships? Possibly getting rejected? Having to make someone else happy? Wh-What if he has to ch-change something about himself? Like, even before we talk about romance, how the hell do you even make friends as an adult? (The answer is BL btw. Go find some girlies who ship the same pairing.) I think Adachi said fuck it to all that bullshit. It'd be easier - less effort - for him to just be alone and not have to change anything about himself.
But… What if the magical TV just tells you exactly who your soulmate is? Well, shit, that's easy. For the lonely guy who just got transferred to Inaba and generally keeps his distance from people, I imagine it would be quite convenient to just be told, "This is who your soulmate is; the person you're meant to be with".
And that wouldn't be the last time Adachi gets a freebie from the TV. It happens again in December, as Adachi finds an again "easy" solution that does not involve changing himself or doing something annoying that requires effort from him. Having been enabled by the magical TV, Adachi is something of a static character.
Adachi is the Investigation Team's Shadow
In the P4G Premium Fan/Fun/Fsomething book, Atlus defines the Shadow by the Jungian definition, then talks about how the Shadows in-game represent "alternate possibilities" for the characters. The specific example it gives is how Chie's Shadow holds a great deal of animosity towards Yukiko. The real Chie doesn't feel this way towards Yukiko; in fact, she treasures her. Thus, Chie's Shadow is an alternate possibility.
When you look at Chie and what she says about accepting her Shadow, her Shadow seems to be born from a real insecurity (her jealousy of Yukiko) and part of it really does resemble Chie. But part of her Shadow is also this… caricature-esque thing. Hence why Atlus calls it the "alternate possibility". In turn, Chie accepts that she is jealous of Yukiko, but she does not accept the Banana Hat Dominatrix trying to exert control over Yukiko. She even realizes that rather than Yukiko needing her, it was actually her who needed Yukiko.
(I refuse to carry on with this train of thought further than talking about Atlus's own example with Chie because it would inevitably mean having to talk about how Atlus sees Kanji and Naoto's issues/Shadows/dungeons, and I'd need like bottles of wine to get in the mood to even type a paragraph of that.)
During her P4G winter Social Link scene, where her Persona evolves, Chie brings up Adachi and how she could have become him. She continues that anyone could have turned out like him.
Indeed, Adachi very much feels like a, "this could happen to anyone" character. He is an everyday normal guy who accidentally gets involved in something beyond him: a Like a Dragon side story NPC stuck in a game about high schoolers and friendship. Based on how you see these characters, you can correlate many of their issues to Adachi's own issues.
Really, in some ways, he feels like he was written to be the sum of the Investigation Team's insecurities, all bundled into one guy. In the case of Chie in particular, just as she was jealous of Yukiko and other girls, Adachi is jealous of what others have (especially Namatame, it seems), and he reflects that aspect of Chie.
As Chie's Shadow twisted her jealousy of Yukiko into a desire to control Yukiko and showed an alternate possibility for who Chie could have become if she had let jealousy consume her, perhaps Adachi shows an alternate possibility for who all of them could become.
As Amenosagiri later reveals, the truth torments the Shadows. Your party identifies that is what causes the Shadows to attack people.
When we consider how the game has gone until now, then those moments where the Investigation Team told their Shadows, "You're not me!" must be the moment that Amenosagiri was describing. The members of the Investigation Team come face to face with a being who claims to be them and seems aware of the same issues that gnaw at them. But these beings pervert their issues issues in a direction that doesn't reflect who the Investigation Team really are. And so they challenge that this being is truly them. They, sigh, "reach out to the truth", and it causes their Shadows to go nutso and attack.
And, of course, these repeated scenes where they tell their Shadows all lead up to the last time we see this kind of sequence...
Just as the Investigation Team had to face themselves and pick apart the truths from the caricature, they, too, come to face Adachi and cut through the bullshit, deny his attempts to justify why it's okay for him to merge the TV World into reality and screw everyone over, and reject him just as they did their Shadows.
That said, though, if we are to compare him to their Shadows, then we must acknowledge that, much like how the Investigation Team's Shadows come from their own real insecurities, Adachi's frustrations with the Investigation Team and with the world at large must also come from something real.
On this screenshotted line in particular, he even uses the more masculine "ore" as his pronoun in Japanese. He usually uses the more boyish "boku", but he seems to swap to "ore" to indicate that he is speaking quite genuinely--or perhaps speaking from the heart.
While he is a whiny murderer throwing an apocalyptic tantrum, I'm sure there are circumstances that made him the person that he is as an adult. Tbh, I've already made a lot of posts talking about the factors that might have contributed to *why* he feels like this, so I won't drag this out further.
By Arena Ultimax, Adachi has come to accept the murder case as the inciting incident that causes him to change as he finds himself finally owning up to his actions from the previous year. He's no role model lol, but life now has more meaning to him than just something you go through every day. Perhaps it's at this moment that he can be said to have gone from merely being alive to living.
(Let's be real tho, jail gives you 3 non-cup noodle meals per day? Damn. It's like he's living his best life. Speaking of which, food feels like such a fitting metaphor for his emotional nourishment.)
In the aftermath of the dungeon and the almost-end-of-the-world, Adachi agreed to start playing by the rules, and became more of a dynamic character. At the beginning of Ultimax, Adachi's commitment to this gets questioned as Yu, Yosuke, and Chie find him allied with Sho (like 5 cutscenes after Yu is so confidant he's behaving himself too, tsk tsk). But Yu reaches the roof, hears Adachi's cringe ass dialogue (I'm pretty sure that Adachi would not have said half that shit if he had known Yu was standing around the corner), and reaffirms his belief that Adachi was genuine about his promise to play by the rules.
The Investigation Team are not on the best of terms with Adachi. Regardless, they went into his dungeon, called him out on his bullshit that had been mixed in with his own real shortcomings and insecurities, punched him, and as we can tell by Ultimax, came to accept him in their own ways as they did their individual Shadows. As Yu says, perhaps they have strangely enough decided to trust in Adachi.

Confession Time!
So, over on Twitter, I'm a member of the Community Notes, and I can write Notes on any post as well as rate other Community Notes on those posts. This is done to fact check people. You have to provide a credible link as the source of your note before you're able to post it, right?
A bunch of M@rauders stans are attacking Tomarry writers, as usual, and because they can't handle that they like morally grey characters who did sus things, they make up all this shit to excuse those characters of their wrongdoings. Maybe that's why they're so jealous, cuz we can like a shitty character while NOT downplaying the bad he did.
Currently, there is an idea going around that Harry Potter was not abused in the canon story, and that everybody just swears he was abused when it was apparently, never addressed or shown and was just not treated the best. But when any M@rauder stans claim that Sirius was very clearly abused, it's unfair how no one agrees with them...
As such, they've been inundated with people pointing out all the abuse Harry has been through, from Vernon choking him out, Petunia trying to hit him with frying pans, them making him sleep in a closet instead of any of their extra bedrooms, lying about his parents, letting Dudley bully him constantly, punishing him when he doesn't understand that magic is at fault, starving him and his pet, putting bars on his window, etc... EXPLICIT ABUSE.
Now, one person gave a whole list of things that Sirius 'suffered' at the hands of his mother, and they're mad because it was pointed out that none of this actually happened in the story, not from anyone's mouth, and that that's just fanfiction tropes to make his parents worse and easier to hate. Harry's abuse is both told to us and shown as early as Ch. 2 of PS. We get to experience it through him in many ways throughout the books.
So usually, I don't get involved in these things, I just watch from the sidelines and laugh. But I thought it would be funny to put Community Notes on all of these people's posts because they're posting literal misinformation. And it's just funny to look at the post making all these claims and immediately see Rate Proposed Community Notes right at the bottom!
This person is ranting about how there are 'context clues' about Sirius was being physically abused by his family, while claiming that Harry's neglect was never explicit to try and make it seem as if Sirius choosing to leave home because of his parents' beliefs is proof of his suffering and is the same as Harry's blood relations treating him terribly for how he was born, his whole childhood.
When people have to sugarcoat and lessen Harry's experience because they want to uwu their favs so they can feel less bad about what their favs have done in canon... It's the weirdest thing. I'm not borrowing shame from a fictional character over their wrongdoings despite how all my favs are the villains. I'm here for the character, and to be so emotionally distraught over what your fav has done, that you need to gloss over it and invalidate canon over and over, is truly unhealthy behavior.
And then attacking people with different favs/ships than you, is peak madness. Get a life. Go figure shit out. You clearly cannot handle interacting with real people yet.

Character/Relationship Analysis: How Taichi's and Sora's arcs in the late Etemon/early Vamdemon arc are intertwined, how they (in)directly activate each other's Crests and how they're the most important plot drivers/leading figures at this point in the series.
One of my early theories regarding the character line-up in Adventure was how Sora could have potentially been the secondary main character besides Taichi (instead of Yamato). And I still believe that nothing makes that theory more apparent than taking a close look at how the "Crest activation period" frames these two as main plot drivers that are the reason why the group sticks together - and also why they all found their way back together after Taichi's disappearance. So let's break this down, shall we.
As pointed out in the analysis post above, when you just watch the opening of the series without any context, you might assume that Sora is the secondary/female main character anyway, because she (and Piyomon) are basically always coming after Taichi (and Agumon). And if you look at Sora's impact in the series, that isn't even too farfetched - especially when you consider that she is LITERALLY stepping up to be leader in the Etemon arc in the novels while Taichi is in a dark spot, whereas Yamato is later on declared to be "too emotional to be a leader".
That aside, let's dig into the set-up here: In the Etemon arc, Sora's Crest is the last to be found. We do not know a lot about the characters' singular arcs at this point, so watching her worrying about the situation doesn't strike the viewer as too weird yet. While it astonishes her that Taichi is so keen on finding her Crest for her sake (despite knowing how selfless he can be too), Taichi himself doesn't see any reason to falter and reassures her instead. This is important, because these two have known each other for quite a while already; they have been in the same class together since elementary school, are also partners in their football club - thus, Taichi's view on Sora is pretty settled. He is very vocal when it comes to "words of reassurance" towards people he cares about and so he repeatedly mentions how caring and selfless Sora is to him, how she always worries about others first and how she shouldn't doubt herself and her qualities - neither because of her own perception of herself nor because of the lies PicoDevimon had been feeding her. Because Sora's perception of herself is indeed slightly skewed, but we will get to that.
Taichi's road to (re)discovering his personal sense of courage is irrevocably linked to his wish to save Sora; initially, his recklessness had repeatedly caused trouble, not only by letting his own Digimon partner go through a dark evolution, but also because he let one of his longest and best friends get captured by the enemy. He initially promised that they would find her Crest for her - and now he is being humbled once more, threatened by an electrical fence right in front of him that could potentially kill him, punishing for losing his way once again. He is aware that something important was lost, referring to both his "brave heart" - and Sora.
Why is that so important?
Not only is Taichi fulfilling both of his promises in the end - saving Sora himself and personally giving her the Crest they've been looking for -, but this is (in)directly mirrored in Sora's arc as well.
Once Taichi disappears after defeating Etemon, the group starts to search for him - for two whole months, while some of them already start to lose hope and drift apart. Sora realizes that the group is torn on how to proceed, but can't stop herself from wishing to find Taichi. Because, once again, something important was lost, indirectly referring to both Taichi - and the sense of togetherness in the group. One might argue that her leaving the others behind may not look very sensible at first glance - but just like she was the one who enabled Taichi's Crest to glow, her disappearance indirectly has an impact on (almost) everybody else's arcs as well. (Additionally, they would not have learned the meanings of the Crests, if Sora hadn't overheard PicoDevimon talking about them to Vamdemon...)
As a complementary force to Sora, Taichi's return reunites the group bit by bit. It almost feels like they're acting as fairy godparents to everyone else, each in their own way - while Sora is hiding in the shadows, giving everyone advice (Agumon, Mimi) or physical aid (Jyou, Yamato) to protect and guide them in the right direction, Taichi directly tries to pull them out of their corrupted viewpoints (Takeru, Yamato, Mimi, Koushirou rather indirectly), whether through words or actions. It's absolutely no surprise that the scene where Yamato tells Taichi that he was the one who brought them all back together (episode 28) is basically a direct mirror of them all coming together to agree to save Sora (episode 20). Because these two are the glue that keeps it all together.
And so, of course it puzzles Taichi that Sora doesn't want to reveal herself to the group again. Of course it surprises him that the girl, whom they all came together for to rescue, who secretly protected all of them behind the scenes due to her kind heart and selflessness and who never gave up looking for him - once again, doubts herself like that. Not only that, she screams at him, tells him that he has no idea who she really is. That her "love" is a facade, that she has no idea what love even means - that she had lost (or never even possessed) her personal sense of love.
(To go on a small tangent here, their framing is just endlessly interesting to me, because the misunderstanding and miscommunication between them is a red thread that spins throughout the entirety of the series. And it is rather tragic, because throughout it all - they actually never really seem to be drifting apart, but due to their lack of means of communication, they cannot be close for some reason. Whether you think of them as platonic or romantic doesn't even matter, the general idea remains the same: They are on each other's minds, they are incredibly important to one another and never stop feeling that way, consciously or subconsciously. It's why Taichi encourages Sora to be with Yamato, but still goes observing the black spore kids together with her in 02, it's why Sora still feels comfortable being physically close to Taichi in DSB and Tri, it's why she gets upset that he ALWAYS gets her - somewhat - right despite not finding the CORRECT words in OWG and Tri, it's why the connections never vanishes in Kizuna... But they're also both awfully insecure about certain parts of themselves, especially when it comes down to decision-making towards their futures and selves. Since neither of them can be fully open up to each other about that, things kinda feel like they are on hold.)
In the end, Taichi (mirrored by Pyocomon's words below) had been correct to tell Sora not to believe in PicoDevimon's lies, not to give in to her own self-doubts - and eventually, she realizes that, just like her mother, she simply did not want anyone else to get hurt even more.
The way Taichi is framed here, smiling at her with absolute glee and satisfaction marks the end of this arc - while he wasn't directly triggering her Crest to be activated, he still believed in her best qualities just like her Digimon partner did, refusing to let her get corrupted more. And even if the infamous sentence "I want Sora's love too" is more of a light-hearted little throw-away line, it's intriguing to look at the potential implications overall here: Since Taichi's arc of Courage was fueled by his wish to save Sora, since Taichi was the one who eventually gave Sora the Crest of Love, since both their arcs were initially sparked by their wishes to find each other again as they took the others under their wings like proud parents... Let's say, after all this time since Taichi had successfully saved Sora, after all the searching leading up to finally being reunited (after several months in Sora's case), they both must have been incredibly relieved that it had all turned out nicely. To see each other again alive and well.
It started with his Crest - and ended with hers.
Long story short, the Adventure would have stopped rather early if it hadn't been for these two, their bond and loyalty toward each other - and also their sense of leadership.
Last note: Shout-out to the third most important character in this arc - if it hadn't been for Koushirou, Taichi would not have found Sora, may not even have found a way back to the Digital World and they also would not have been able to solve the card riddle to get back home.

😍 The BB husband HC is so cute! I'd love to read a similar set but maybe like a little old lady vendor, who just assumes they're a couple, hints that it won't be long before they're hearing the pitter patter of little feet? They're so sweet and funny about just the idea of being the readers husband, the idea that they could be making babies with her might make them explode 😂
Thanks for all the brilliant HCs 💚
Aloha!
Thanks, love to read that! It was fun writing them, too. Now I do like this idea, let me see what I can do with that 😊
The Bad Batch x Fem!Reader HCs - Husband And Daddy?
Warnings: Mostly Fluffy/Partly Slightly Suggestive/Pre Relationship
Initial Situation:
At a fruit and vegetable market on Batuu with tons of open-air stalls, you are approached by an elderly lady, a trader selling tea herbs.
"You two are such a beautiful couple, I bet it's only a matter of time before you hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet"
Hunter
Hunter is chewing on the piece of apple he has in his mouth. You bought some fruit from a stall earlier. He smiles a little stupidly, politely, but doesn't immediately understand what is being said. It takes him a moment to put the words into context.
The moment he realizes what the old lady has just said, his eyes widen, and he chokes on the apple, a piece getting stuck in his throat.
"Hunter?" you ask worriedly and pat him on the back.
He suddenly coughs up the piece of apple and onto the floor, clears his throat and gasps for air. He adjusts his hair and bandana just to keep his nervous fingers occupied.
The older lady giggles and says conspiratorially to you, "Maybe you'd better find someone with better survival skills, you want to pass on the best genes"
Hunter clears his throat and says downright indignantly, "If anyone has survival skills, it's me"
The older lady grins, her laugh lines clearly visible around her eyes as she says, "He certainly has good ears"
As you continue walking, you say with amusement, "That almost sounded like you were applying to be the father of my children"
Hunter blinks several times, laughs nervously and finally says, "Um, well, I just wanted to make it clear that I do have my qualities"
You grin and say, "I know," and give him a kiss on the cheek that makes his ears flush.
Echo
He stares at the elderly lady for quite a while without blinking, Echo doesn't dare to look at you.
The old lady says to him bemusedly, "You have to blink now and again, otherwise your eyes will dry out"
Echo blinks several times, clears his throat, then his gaze swings briefly in your direction. When he sees your smile, his cheeks and ears heat up. He scratches the back of his head nervously with the scomp link and looks at the teas on the old lady's stand.
The lady laughs softly, "So shy?"
Echo clears his throat and says quietly, "We're not even a couple yet"
"Not yet," the lady emphasizes with a broad grin.
Echo's gaze quickly flits over to you again, and he sees you biting your lower lip with a grin.
He grins too and says, "'Yet'"
When your eyes meet, you both grin like idiots in love.
The older lady laughs again, "You two are so clearly into each other"
Echo clears his throat, straightens up, straightens his shoulders and says with a grin, "Maybe so, but the little feet thing can wait a little longer"
Wrecker
"Huh?"
Wrecker was only half-listening, his eyes roaming over the colorful packets of tea and his nose sniffing the various scents. His huge figure is bent over the stand. He straightens up again and looks questioningly from one to the other.
The old lady repeats her statement and after a brief hesitation, Wrecker laughs almost shyly.
"The lady and I aren't even a couple yet," he finally says with a wry grin.
"You should change that," says the old woman with conviction, "you two are a wonderful match, at least at first glance"
Wrecker looks over at you and smirks, "Yes, I think we should"
Your cheeks and ears heat up, and you can't stop grinning.
"But one thing at a time," says Wrecker, amused, and reaches out his hand towards you. You place your hand in his, a little nervously, and he gently pulls you closer to him and the stand. Then he asks the elderly lady, "What about tea for lovebirds?"
The old lady grins and points to a row of her beautifully packaged tea herbs.
"I have a few things to offer"
Tech
He seems almost a little lost without the holopad in his hand. The pad is on his belt, he has devoted his attention entirely to you and this little excursion today, and you feel really flattered. It's so rare that he lets this thing out of his hand.
Tech looks at the older lady questioningly, her statement has completely passed him by, he can't put it into any logical context.
"Well," he says matter-of-factly, "First of all, we're not a couple. Secondly, I don't understand the reference to small feet. My companion's feet aren't that small either"
You burst out laughing, but disguise it as a cough because you don't want him to think you're making fun of him.
Tech comes closer and strokes your back worriedly.
"You're not going to get sick, are you?"
You shake your head.
"No, no, it's fine"
Tech is so different with you than with other people, you've noticed, he's gentler, more caring. You're sure he likes you a lot more than he perhaps even realizes himself.
"He doesn't seem the brightest," giggles the older lady.
Tech frowns, "I understood the implication, and I can assure you, good lady, you're unlikely to meet anyone smarter than me"
"And a little arrogant"
Tech raises his eyebrows in shock and looks from one to the other, panicking that he may have made the wrong impression on you too. But you give him a warm, infectious smile that makes him feel like he's melting.
"She was talking about children," you say softly.
"Children?… Oh, I see," Tech says and swallows.
He suddenly looks very nervous.
"To have children you have to be intimate first and we're not"
"Not yet," you say quietly.
His head jerks in your direction, surprised, startled, curious.
You slowly move away from the stand as you talk, and the old lady looks after you, shaking her head.
"You'd be interested in a more intimate relationship with me?" Tech asks matter-of-factly, though there is a small, nervous tremor in his voice.
When you smile at him again, a storm of emotions is released inside him, but he remains calm on the outside. Your small, quiet "yes" sends his pulse racing and conjures up a smile on his lips.
Crosshair
Crosshair just frowns, looks at the older lady, then at you and sees you shrug your shoulders. He doesn't really know how to react to the statement. For now, he remains calm.
His gaze wanders over the teas.
"This one," says the lady, holding it out to Crosshair, "You could buy it for your wife, it helps to prepare her for conception and has an aphrodisiac effect."
Crosshair smiles, his eyes wandering back and forth between you and the old lady again.
Finally, he says, "Children are not my thing. But the process that precedes the whole thing is"
You blink several times and listen intently as Crosshair talks to the old lady. You are so fascinated by the scene, his demeanor, that you just watch in silence.
The elderly lady giggles and shows him a few other teas and says conspiratorially, "These all have an aphrodisiac and libido-enhancing effect"
"Perfect," says Crosshair with a dirty little grin and has three different varieties wrapped up.
With the paper bag of teas under his left arm, he invitingly holds out his right arm to you. You hook onto him, almost hypnotized, and look up at him.
"How about it? You and me tonight, and a whole lot of tea?"
You blink and feel yourself getting hot. A wide smile creeps onto your face.
Crosshair smirks and says, "That looks like a 'yes'"
You nod and say, "This could be interesting"
Crosshair says smugly, "I promise you it will be"

Lesson Learned: Theoi.com Isn't Perfect
*I'll probably be taking my modern Theogamia Ritual down. Maybe contacting reblogs to see if they'll delete it there were 4. Sigh
So when constructing my modern Theogamia ritual. I made a conscious decision to—in a sense— tell a progression story via the ritual by which epithets I invoked— with them beginning as "Adults", then "Marriage", then finally "King and Queen".
From my post
There is a purposeful timeline in this ritual: it starts with Zeus and Hera as “adults” [Teleios / Teleia], proceeds to Zeus and Hera being “marriage participants*” [Gamelius / Gamelia], and finally ends with them as married “King and Queen” [Basileus / Basileia] of the Gods.
*"marriage participants" wasn't a translation it was my intended meaning behind the epithet. Hera Gamelia is apparently a real epithet (but Gamelia doesn't have a wiktionary entry) but the source I had for Zeus Gamelius has vanished. So I guess I'm yeeting those two epithets in the ritual.
On Theoi dot com it translates epithets on the cult pages that I have used extensively
Teleia on Hera's Epithets is translated "adult woman." Written as: Τελεια — Link | Some epithets have elaborations on the page but this epithet does not.
Teleios on Zeus's Epithets page is translated "of marriage rites." Written as: Τελειος — Link | There is no elaboration on this epithet on his page either.
Turns out these epithets mean "perfect"
Now τέλειος— I had to add the tonos έ not ε to find it more readily—has this wiktionary entry under Ancient Greek
Now technically it does have "full grown / adult" listed, but as humans; it specifically has a different meaning listed for Gods which is "perfect omnipotent infinite." And no where in wikitionary does the word carry the definition "marriage rites" the closest is "a royal banquet." But that quotation mentions a royal dinner not in relation to a wedding dinner, apparently an annual dinner to a king (Herodotus, Histories 9.110) Link, though it could be something to do with a wedding........ I can't read ancient Greek.
As a non-academic this is supremely frustrating because
I can't trust easily accessible sources apparently. One I've used for a very long time
I don't know Greek well enough yet to spot anything off I can only go on translations
Even if I did know, ancient Greek is just different enough that research is hard; looking up Τελεια gave me Modern Greek Teleia meaning "full stop / period" and nothing more, with no Ancient Greek wiktionary entry for the word.
So if I wanted to keep the ritual story line I'd have to take Teleios/Teleia out of ancient context and also use the definition that denoted humans. Which is significantly less than ideal. So options:
Remove the story I enjoyed telling. And go with just Teleia / Teleios since I believe thats the ancient Theogamia's epithets ... though I can only find the claim on Helpol sites so I don't know.
As I said Hera Gamelia apparently exists but not Zeus Gamelios or Gamelius
Make modern epithets, which I usually do in modern Greek; "adult" or "fully grown" would be: enílikos/eniliki ενήλικος / ενήλικη; groom/bride; fiance; suitor; bachelorette/bachelor..... no idea. I prefer ones that exist already.
Or somehow magically find attested ones that actually fit my idea.
Also there is this on Theoi Project
ZYGIUS and ZYGIA (Zugia and Zugios), are surnames of Hera and Zeus, describing them as presiding over marriage. (Hesych. s. v.)
Which I have found more information on outside of Theoi project and also had discussed it with @/sisterofiris a long time ago so there is that
edit: *takes a big giant breather* I have an entire year to figure it out. I need to be nicer to myself

suggestions for the amrev resource folder that nobody asked for?
i have the structure worked out and want to start adding resources in there: if anyone has any suggestions on edits to make beforehand, pls do so!
Shared Google folder with subfolders:
Events (Resources centered on "events"/"periods": aka Pre-War, Wartime Experience, Constitutional Convention, Federal Period, maybe even just "General")
Topics (Sexuality, Religion, Race, Fashion, etc.)
Figures (Hamilton, Burr, Jefferson, etc. with folders of their own separating their biographies, letters, primary sources, etc.)
Primary Sources (Inside: Newspapers, Letters, etc.)
Inspired (Section for media based on amrev period: thinking Hamilton, 1776, George Washington: Founding of a Nation, Turn. For instance, someone shared their Hamilton musical commentary book, so that'll be a resource under this folder)
NA (resources that don't fit and/or are about things that are too sparse for a specific category quite yet)
Along with this, I have made:
Masterlist: Google Sheet with every single resource in the folder. I'm working on making it sortable by tag (for larger category, specific topics, people, etc.)
Wishlist: A Google Sheet where you can add resources you've like to see but have no access to. Once they've been added to the folder, they'll be crossed off.
Submission Form: Anonymous Google form for anyone to submit resources. File upload or long answer section where you can give me contact info/link to your own folder are both options.
Help & Advice Form: If something doesn't make sense or you think there's a better way to do things, submit here.
RateTheResource: Google doc where you can write out your review/thoughts on a specific resource you are familiar with. I thought it might be helpful to provide context, especially for biographies, on bias level, etc.

Have you considered posting your comic here on tumblr or showing a preview instead of just links? Just links doesn't give people an idea of what the comic is about and likely won't be clicked on by new people but clips of the comic or the whole pages + external links would help pique interest more
First of all, let me apologize for taking to long to respond to this 😅
And next I want to apologize for this being such a long response.
Truth is, I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Even before you sent me this ask, but I didn’t want to answer right away because I didn’t know what I wanted to do about it yet.
I think you’re definitely right, links to another site are really not the best way to draw people in, especially if you’re on mobile. And I’ve been trying to work on a better solution.
I think for a while I didn’t want to post on tumblr just because that would be another thing I would have to keep track of besides the website, webtoons, and ko-fi and patreon. But I have been considering that more and more, I think that would help make it more accessible, both in general but especially to tumblr users, which is where I think most of my current audience is from lol.
But, I’m still held back by one problem. If I post on tumblr, people can reblog it, (I know I can disable reblogs, but that feels icky to me, I don’t want to make it hard for people to share the comic.) and if they do, then I can’t really control what pages people see in what order, and that’s (generally speaking) not great for stories. I’m not so worried about spoilers, but I’m more concerned that if people are exposed to the comic pages out of order, then the story loses its power of presentation.
I think the story of SotF is really similar to a film, and when you’re advertising a film you make a trailer. You take specifically curated shots and sound bites from the film and place them in a specific sequence to engage the viewers and make them ask questions. Questions like: “How do the main characters end up in a situation like that?”, “How do they get out of it?” “How does Jack Black do as casting for Steve?”, “Is this gonna be as good as the first movie?”. You go see that movie because you want those questions answered. (or you wait a little longer and watch a YouTube review.)
Direction wise, it’s almost a mini film in and of itself. If you see a clip of a film by itself without any explanation, you don’t feel as engaged with it as you would if you saw that scene within the context of the movie as a whole. But it also doesn’t pique as much interest as one specific line from that scene would out of context. It’s a balance between asking and answering questions. What you give/show that makes the viewers ask questions that they want answered.
I really don’t know how to apply all of this to advertising a comic though, and I may be making this more complicated than it needs to be lol. But I think for now at least, I don’t have enough material to advertise with anyway. I haven’t even gotten through the prologue yet! I think right now the best thing I could do for advertising is making promotional posters. And even that is something I have to budget time for.
I also thought about posting clips of some sort, but I couldn’t really figure out how to do that with the pages of comic that I’d put out so far. I would have to do it in either one of two ways: (if there’s another way let me know lol) I’d either have to post a few pages at a time, let people see what the comic is like and get invested so they actually want to click a link to see the rest (this is what I see most people doing), or I would post a snippet of one page, giving people a small glimpse of what happens so that people want to click the link to be able to read the whole page. But there were problems with each. I’m working on this comic very slowly, as I don’t have a lot of time to put towards it, so posting two or three pages all at once would amount to months of work.
And I couldn’t really find a way to cut my comic pages into little snippets. I feel like that can compromise some of the structure of the page as a whole, since I design the pages to be viewed as a whole, to draw the viewer’s eye from here to there. If I clip it down, I don’t think your eyes would track with the page in the same way when you see the full page. I think this method works better for comics that use the infinite scroll format. At least, that’s where I’ve seen it work best.
So TL;DR: I want to up the promotion of my comic but i can't really do that at this point with the low amount of material I've made so far or without potentially compromising the experience of the story of the comic.
Thank you for sending this ask! It really made me think and helped me put these thoughts to words.
If anyone wants to comment or add to the discussion, feel free!

Some Keisuke Baji Facts (Not headcanons)...
I got into the Tokyo Revengers fandom right after watching the 1st season of the anime and from there I started reading the manga until I got caught up with it. Now, I'm up-to-date with everything related to Tokrev, even the spin-off manga as well...
Now, I have an issue with how people interpret Baji's character and how they portray him in fanfics or headcanon posts. I know you can have your own headcanons, but there's also a thing called facts or being canonically accurate. Most people interpret Baji as:
Keisuke Baji is an idiot, a literal moron.
Keisuke Baji is reckless, restless, always causing havoc, always seeking fun and adventure; in short, an energetic thrill seeker/troublemaker.
Well, that's far from what people think about Baji...

Baji's NOT an idiot
You can't call Baji an idiot just because he isn't academically smart or doesn't get passing grades in school. Sure, he's stupid when it comes to his studies, but other than that, he's really smart and highly intellectual in every other aspect. Moreover, Chifuyu's the one who's a moron here. In many fanfics and headcanon posts, I saw people writing about how dumb Baji is and how smart Chifuyu is and then talking about how Chifuyu guides/helps Baji to understand things or solve problems. And I'm like huh?!?! Have you not read the spin-off manga yet??? (Btw, the spin-off manga is CANON since it's been made under Ken Wakui sensei's supervision and he's heavily involved with the project...)

The whole manga is about what a big dumbass Chifuyu is and how smart, intellectual, and level-headed Baji is. Heck, Chifuyu's so stupid that this is what Baji has to say about him -

So, yeah...
CHIFUYU is the moron here, NOT Baji.
Also...
Baji's NOT an adrenaline junkie
I'm not gonna share pictures for that as proof. Instead, I'll just add the links to the sites where you can read the spin-off manga. I'll say it again - Baji's NOT some reckless, restless dude who loves causing havoc/chaos any time and every time he feels like it (unlike Hanma, Smiley, or anyone batshit crazy we know from this series). Throughout the story, Baji is shown to be quite mature and sensible as a person and also as a leader. He's more responsible, wiser, and more rational than everyone around him. Sure he gets very energetic and excited when fighting other delinquents, but other than that, he's just a simple guy going on with his everyday life. I understand why people think of him like that since this is literally what wiki tells us -
But he's more than just that...
Instead in the spin-off, Baji is portrayed as a calm, collected, and composed individual in each and every scene he appears, while Chifuyu and Ryusei are the ones shown to be more chaotic in nature who love getting into trouble at every opportunity they get. Also, Baji doesn't speak too much and always observes things around him quietly from the sideline, meaning unlike others, he's pretty observant. He's never once shown to be causing problems for others, but rather, he's the one solving the issues that others cause around him, meaning he's a dependable and attentive person (just like Draken). Not only is he calm and composed, but he also immediately figures out any situation in front of him and then confidently gives orders to the others; just reading the spin-off manga will make you realize how effective Baji is as a leader/1st division captain. And, in that episode (season 1, episode 14) where Mikey tells Takemichi that Baji punches people for no apparent reason, yeah, there's actually a reason why Baji does that and such a thing happened only ONCE in his lifetime (Go read chapter 9 of the spin-off manga and you'll also understand why Baji did that). Also, this is Mikey we're talking about; do you really think he'll give us the correct info? He just dropped that info without any context, and no wonder why Takemichi went like "WTF?" after hearing that about Baji... Anyway, Baji's more like Draken in a way, so to speak, and that's why he and Draken get along really well.

No wonder Baji's spending his birthday afternoon with Draken instead of spending it with Mikey or Chifuyu...
So, in short, Baji is:
Not some rowdy, adrenaline junkie like Hanma or Smiley.
An attentive, compassionate, and dependable leader.
Confident while giving out his orders.
A calm, composed, and observant individual.
Very smart and highly intellectual.
Cautious and doesn't cause trouble to others.
Actually one of the most mature ones in the group besides Draken and Mitsuya.
Baji loves fun and adventure from time to time, sure, but he's NOT an idiotic troublemaker.
