Linux or Windows? What OS to choose for your server?
Before purchasing and setting up a server, you need to consider which operating system you want to use with your server. An average user probably won’t feel the difference between Linux or Windows server OS; however, businesses might have specific technical requirements that could be affected by the choice of an operating system. The choice between Linux and Windows operating systems depends on…

hey, privacy concerned folks,
DON'T USE BALENA ETCHER TO USB YOUR ISOs
As @tailsos-official stated in their blog post, it displays ads which is weird for a simple disk imaging tool and more important:
It shares your IP address, the file name of the image the model of the USB stick and a bunch of other things with the Balena company and third parties.
On Windows, use Rufus instead. It's pretty neat.
On Mac, use the Raspberry Pi Imager. It does its job. Or if you don't mind the terminal, use dd. It's built-in.
On Linux you can use dd, or whatever comes with your DE. Or whatever else you prefer. We got options.
You can also use Ventoy and just chuck all your ISOs on it. No need to reformat your usb drives again just for a new boot stick. One USB to rule them all.

I swear to god computer people talking online about how easy computers/linux are are just that xkcd comic about experts in a field overestimating a layperson’s knowledge (“surely the average person must only know 2-3 feldspars”), over and over again. I felt this firsthand back when I was asking for advice when buying my desktop PC. When a casual computer user reads something like this, at least speaking from personal experience, it is nearly incomprehensible. It is wonderful to want to help the less technologically-fortunate, but you have to break things down more than this. You are speaking wingdings at people.

Yeah yeah linux having problems is a big joke but honestly have you considered that linux wouldn't run like shit if it didn't have to reverse engineer byzantine proprietary drivers and hardware architecture and deliberately hostile BIOS firmware and one thousand other things that exist solely to force everything that isn't a corporate OS to suffer miserably on every computer ever

Zorin OS's auto-brightness feature has this bug that I like to call "Brightness Runaway," where, if it's semi-dark in the room you're in, loading a webpage with a Light Mode UI will throw enough light onto you (and the things around you) that Zorin OS will think it suddenly got brighter in the room.
That causes the auto-brightness to raise itself, which causes more light to be thrown into the room. That causes the auto-brightness to think it got even brighter, which causes it to raise the brightness even more.
The brighter it gets, the more auto-brightness tries to raise the brightness, and the more auto-brightness tries to the raise the brightness, the brighter it gets, so eventually you end up sitting there like:

It is so handy how on Unix you can just write files to /tmp and they will be cleared up automatically upon shutdown!
So if I want to write a disposable python script to test something - put it in /tmp!
Or if I want to view e.g. an MS Word document that my browser can't read, just save it in /tmp.
And of course if it's worth keeping, then move it to somewhere permanent.
