You roll your eyes at the pathetic messages as you put your phone back in your purse, not bothering to respond. You couldn't believe the audacity he has, especially after the pics went out.

You put him out of your mind and continued to dance. The alcohol flowing in your system as the lights flashing around helped drown out the thoughts of him. You came here with a few of your girlfriends and the goal of possibly not leaving alone.

As you continued to dance you would constantly feel a pair of eyes on you. You waved it off because of course people were looking at you, you looked hot as fuck. You then felt the need to pee and when you got to the bathroom you noticed you were tagged in an Instagram post. Normally you wouldn't look but something told you to see what it was.

It was more pictures of your ex and some girl but taken literally 10 minutes ago, around the same time he was texting you. You decided you were not standing for this and right as you walked out of the bathroom you saw the perfect chance for a little revenge.

Deciding to play it cool you dance with your girls close to him, hips swaying, slowly getting closer and closer.

Finally when you both lock eyes, you wink at him, slowly walking to the bar, keeping as much eye contact as possible.

He gets the hint and follows you, a slight blush on his checks that you definitely didn’t miss.

“Y/n right?” he softly asks you

9-1-1 right now, but I've been known to dabble all over -- my top five as far as # of fics are Once Upon a Time, Stranger Things, 9-1-1 (jfc I'm ALREADY almost 1/3 of the way to the fandom I've written the most for, Tim and Lou put CRACK in Tommy Kinard), The Walking Dead and The Punisher

I've been doing a truly terrible job of it recently but I try to. The 9-1-1 fics are all looking daunting already, gonna have to get on that soon

I don't know? The chances aren't zero considering how many places my writing has ended up over the years but it's never been reported to me and I've never run across it or searched it out.

Have you ever cowritten?

Nah. Frantic, deranged DM's with moots throwing more and more ridiculous ideas back and forth at one another, but never cowriting.

What’s your all time favourite ship?

I'm gonna go with a classic Lizzy/Darcy even though they aren't even my fav Jane Austen pairing. They've stood the test of time and people are STILL managing to find ways to either adapt, rewrite, modernize, or transfer their story onto another pairing.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue. Ending lines. Digging into the psyche of whomever's POV I'm in to create a clearer picture, especially when I'm wholesale creating an OC for an outsider POV. Brevity, in the sense that I can cram 50k of fic into a 2k one-shot.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Smut. I hate writing it. I hate reading it back and second and third and forth-guessing myself. It always feels so clunky compared to everything else I write and I'm a shit who won't just practice at it until I get better, I want to be good at it immediately or not at all.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. Nothing that ever made it to the internet and it was lost to the basement flood of '08 but I can still clearly picture a couple of the scenes I daydreamed up. (Laugh with me as we both realize at the same time that while 12 yr old me was reading FILTHY Snape/Hermione and Sirius/Hermione smut at three in the morning in the dark, I only ever WROTE Ron/Hermione.)

Merry Christmas and TMNT Update!

Merry Christmas everyone! Just some updates but I've been hard in the TMNT brainrot. So first of all I just binged through the first 3 seasons of TMNT 87 AAGH SO GOOD it's so cute I love the boys so much! I finished 12 and WOW what a rush! Leo is the type of brother who would just carve his entire heart out for his family (and he basically does.) Raph is like the best brother, he grows SO much and cares SO much. Donnie is so adorable too, I'm glad he grew out of being a simp. He's a really sweet brother when he's not being like a stalker. Mikey literally saved them so many time just wow, what a lad. I love the dynamics of 12 so much. it's written like a tele-novella soap opera, but I say that only with love.

I'm on season 3 ep 7 of tmnt 03 and I saw Raph meeting a blind old lady who owns a cat and my heart melts, planning to actually rewatch that ep just cause my dogs interrupted the entire episode.

I also got my friend to sit with me and watch the 2007 tmnt movie and the Rise tmnt movies recently and they are literally amazing movies. I really hope Rise wins it's nomination.

I've been taking an obsessive amount of screenshots of tmnt 87 and sending live dms to a friend on discord, and I just wanna share some of my fav screenshots.

I wanted to take screenshots of 03 and 12 and Rise while watching them but the streaming platforms prevent me from taking screenshots.

This was such a cute episode, Michelangelo was so sad to not have money for a boogey board and Raphael towel whipped him and Leonardo in the back trying not to laugh out loud was so funny.

This ep was also great because it just ends with Splinter being stuck in this other dimension and the turtles are like "how do we save him!" and hitch a ride on an alien ship and just follow along and April is like "you can't leave me!" and next thing you know Splinter is shimmying his way to freedom and lands on them.

I don't remember this ep title, but I just think the goobers looking all sad is so cute and funny.

I took a million screenshots on birthday boy mikey episode. He's so adorable and sweet. He got sad and ran away from home and was hooked up like this flushomatic torture device and idk it was so silly and so many cute expressions were in this ep.

Just a bunch more super cute moments. Like no one said how they acted when they got sick and I was not ready for them to be begging April and Splinter for attention and baby talking for more care. It was so cute and sweet. I also screenshotted Donnie falling cause his face cracks me up. I still can't get over how they're literally just little babies and April is totally their mom. (she reads them bedtime stories, it's canon)

He was so excited to film a turtle work out video.

This is one of the last frames of the season 3 finale and I think it's so funny they got rid of the Technodrome once and for all by sending them back to dimension X and they don't even look that happy. They're literally being celebrated and look so bummed out about it

BTW I have paramount but they don't have past season 2 available right now so I started watching it on internet archive, it's all there for free if you ever want to get your Cowabunga fix. (it's also why I could even take so many screenshots)

People make fun of me but I'd rather be the idiot who didn't get the sarcasm than the jerk who laughed when you weren't joking.

what sports do you play/have you played? I am so, so bad at sports, but I did play recreational soccer for a few years around the age of 9. I would not do it again.

scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings. I don't necessarily mind if a good story has a sad ending, but I hate scary movies. Horror is a really wide genre and there are many types of it that I can appreciate and even enjoy, but I don't like movies/games/etc. that are just scary for the sake of being scary. I do not find being scared entertaining at all.

any special talents? I play the violin but I don't know if it's a 'special talent' since it's kind of my job? I'm pretty good at singing though even though I've never had training.

Last movie:

the Demon Slayer movie. I skipped all the way to the end to see the fight between Akaza and Rengoku because they're two of my favs ( in order from that show: Uzui (my mom calls yuzu (my cat) Uzui and its adorable) Akaza and Rengoku. I Found out the english dub is out (im way behind) and just needed to hear their english voice acting. all of it is amazing and Akaza's lil gigles during the fight make me incredibly happy. Guys who laugh/giggle mid combat? Ugh >\\x//<

Demon Slayer, Chainsaw man, Tokyo ghoul (im rewatching a bunch of animes) Steven universe. (i love all of these and full recommend them. I literally just yesterday(or the day before idk time is a blur) got a new funko pop, it's the half-kakuja kaneki and i love it.)

Spy x Family, the Junji ito Collection, Yamishibai (if you like picture style art and horror this is great, its somewhat junji ito like, but shorter stories and ngl the zanbai ep scared me a bit) psychpass (some reccomended this to me cause im (obviously) a fan of darker more gruesome shows, and it is very dystopian, love the art work, but i just dont get it.) Given (if you havent watched this show please watch it its amazing) Yuri on ice, Banana Fish (also another fave)

(I work from home, and pretty much exist at my computer, and need to keep on music or tv to keep the bad thoughts out, so i have a lot of time and opportunity to watch stuff ok)

Shows I dropped this week:

Psycho pass. again, i just couldnt get into it. I know a lot of people seem to really like and it full seems like a show that would be up my alley. that first ep was kind of a lot though. I'm not ashamed to admit i love shows that are unafraid to show nudity and violence but the two together (ifykyk) make me uncomfortable. If this case had been a little further in the show i think it would have been fine, but it's litterally the first like ten minutes of the show. I also tried watching this a few week ago while at wasteland but we were pretty much just out the door.

Devil May Cry. I still love the games and the characters, and i remember loving the anime as a kid but its just... so different from the games lmao.

Currently Reading:

random internet stuff, fics and shit. I feel bad because i used to go to the library all the time but at the same time, i dont really have the room to store a whole bunch of books and despite being super dyslexic, i read insanely fast, so renting/buying books isnt worth it to me. (i've read entire full length series in the span of a day or two, while doing other stuff. I need longer, more conveniently packaged novels and that typically comes in the form of fanfiction. )

caden!! saw you mentioned both jane bennett and derrida in a recent post — have you read sharon krause’s political respect for nature? it’s kind of a counter to bennett’s vibrant matter, at least in my mind, and it invokes the classic derrida cat anecdote as part of the framing which i find really interesting. personally i think i find her eco arg more convincing than bennett’s new materialist one because i like how krause acknowledges how irrelevant the human value system is outside of humanity (how, like, we can’t possibly judge nature thru human values; it has values of its own we can’t possibly hope to understand) and uses that to argue for policy initiatives that similarly ensure nature’s autonomy whereas bennett’s arg of expanding the human value system to include nature within it (because of the internet ‘vibrance’ and aliveness in everything both humans and nature) is beautiful but imo kind of stops short of respecting matter on its own terms rather than bc of its connection to humanity. rambling but if you’ve read bennett’s vibrant matter and like derrida i def think krause’s political respect for nature is a worthwhile read!!! not like a Solution or perfect or anything but i really like thinking ab the human relationship w nature through the post-levinasian lens she dives into (the imperative that we stop viewing human understanding as a necessary prerequisite for respect being a big part of it). also just curious in general what ur thoughts are on bennett and/or new materialists more broadly? def don’t have to actually give a whole ass response or anything but i saw that post of urs and my ears perked up like a dog’s lmao. some like pavlovian response to political/phil theory sightings in the wild (read: my dash)

re: the new materialists generally: ok, i have a lot of thoughts about them. first of all i am #1 kant hater because i don't go in for idealism OR dualism. so the underlying goal of the new materialists / speculative realists is highly appealing to me. however, (& i think this is sympatico with yr read of krause) i think their projects have a tendency to simultaneously project human values & ethics onto the natural world, & to flatten what i think actually IS an important distinction between human and non-human. i see this in barad, in bennett, in brassier, quite strongly in harman's object-oriented ontology. it's like, (& i'm paraphrasing projit mukharji) we still haven't gotten the hang of granting personhood to all actual humans, and already people are trying to break down the category...?

my fav of the bunch by far is meillassoux (altered my brain chemistry forever when i was 21). i would enthusiastically recommend him to literally anyone, even his weirder stuff (spectral dilemma and such). he's great to think with and i think he does the best job of any of this crowd at articulating the problem with kant and his transcendentalist 'copernican revolution.' however, i also see most clearly in meillassoux the root of the problem with the proffered new materialist solutions, which is that he takes the antinomy between perceived & real (ie, inside & outside) to be a transhistorical, universal condition of sensory experience, rather than a historically specific consequence of, eg, divided / estranged labour. so his solution relies on mathematisation à la badiou, which meillassoux also sees as an ahistorical and apolitical project, and although in 'after finitude' he makes a cursory attempt to link a critique of metaphysics with a critique of political authority, he's unable to develop this any further or with socio-historical specificity.

tl;dr new materialists fun sexy also fundamentally unable to engage with politics or history in a manner i find fruitful or liberatory. again though, really excellent to think with. love to rotate them.

Personal headcanon of mine for spooky season:

primo exclusively dresses up as Nosferatu every holloween even though he lives in the Italian hell church/satan monastery (idk what to call it) headquarters but he actually makes a really good costume and got really good at applying and making false body parts to the point he honestly looks exactly like the original actor and l freaks everyone out by just silently walking around and waiting for people to notice him. Terzo also wears a maid cat outfit to embarrass his older brothers with uwu talk he learned from the internet and annoy sister imperator (copia eventually joins in with him and they both become a collective menace to everyone around them)

I have so many more headcanons if you’d like to hear them (it would be so much longer then this though fair warning)

Who/what is your biggest inspo for poetry or art?

aagh i dont think i'll ever have one biggest inspo for poetry n art i just have a lot of lads which i like specific things about + those likes are still always ongoing and changing lol (which btw ty for askin bout poetry cause i LOVE it n i never get asked abt poetry hehe)

I have a big ol google doc where i have lines of fav poetry i write down when i come across them (usually when im just scrollin the internets) and atm I've been noticing that a lot of lines i keep enjoying are all by Mary Oliver even tho i've yet to read her collection of poetry!!! so that's on my to-do list C: other poets who's names keep poppin up in that google doc are ocean vuong, richard siken, chen chen and uhh flatsound? they do more music but they've done some spoken word stuff and their songs just feel close enough to the realm of poetry to me u know

Art stuff... lol which medium?? /lh I really like thomas jordan's photography (the COLOURS my DUDE) mmm shelia berger's kinetic sculptures and KICKASS "Bird Show" encaustic paintings (i watched the rlly short like 5 min documentary on her and i was enraptured) Spencer finch has got a lot of cool conceptual art stuff like i think CIE 529 418 (CANDLELIGHT) is rlly cool!! Holly warb and @/vchienart both got some lovely lovely illustrations/paintings with soft beautiful colours... @/emilienunez has some really pretty and elegant yet v cute ceramics!! and @/soonthemoon some really like cute warm n cozy ones... Oof there's so many digital artists i love ;-; and i keep finding new cool lads aghh @catnippackets has such a good grasp on like form n shape if that makes sense?? like drawin people in these rlly fluid poses in like silky lineart aaa i found @milkdudz 's art recently and i LOVE their art style and their cats are just. perfect balance of spiky and soft n very very Cat which is so good @everydaylouie u gotta know louie right ?? how can someone make such lovely 2d and 3d art and music and also know how to code n make lil games. that is too much power for one soul to possess nifty-senpai's art n animations and designs ofc!! are incredible!! and i REALLY love their concepts for what the wc clan territories look like (this moonpool are you kidding me???? gorgeous) @thunderc1an's lineless art style my beloved...... yall clammorin about my lineless art style u GOTTA check out theirs so good (also the everchanging never the same designs for wc characters is so good so freeing so interesting to look at!!) SmallButera's animations omg... literally speechless (also have u seen their series baman piderman?? its so precious it might be on indefinite hiatus im not too sure but its still my favourite thing) chadisms, Riley Ellis, Asha Phaedra and Cherrydusk also got some BANGIN animation skills and o my god this post got so long n theres still so many ppl ive gots to stop and do homework LOL

“I hate people.”

“Hello to you too,” JT mused, lifting his head to look at you from where he was sitting on the sofa.

You groaned, leaning down to kiss your boyfriend in greeting, smiling softly at the laughter he was trying to hold in. “Sorry, it’s not been the best day.”

“What’s wrong?” he asked, frowning.

Where to start!

“First of all, the queue for coffee this morning was ridiculous and I was nearly late for work. Then we had two meetings which could’ve been emails for sure and a third meeting which ran on way too long. And then, the project I’m working on has been scrapped because the Sales guy didn’t communicate properly with the client and now the client wants something completely different, so all that work I’ve put in this week was for nothing!”

“And…” he prompted.

“Internet girls thirsting over you on the Avs social media posts?” you added, smiling wryly.

“Really?” he said, frowning.

“Oh come on, JT, you know how hot you are. And women on the internet agree with me,” you groaned, sinking down into the sofa cushion next to me.

“Um, not to be that guy, but it kind of comes with the territory? And it’s been like this since we started dating 6 months ago – why is it annoying you now?”

If it was any other guy, you’d be rolling your eyes at the ego, but that just wasn’t JT. This wasn’t him being cocky or arrogant, and you both knew that. That doesn’t mean it made things any better though.

“It’s always annoyed me, babe, I’m just extra annoyed about it today. We’ve been official nearly 6 months and I have a key to your apartment now and all these girls think you’re single, which fine, we don’t post our relationship everywhere because bleurgh who needs the drama. Things like this just get to me though, enough that when I went to lunch with some of the girls, they noticed that I wasn’t happy and we started diving into it,” you rambled.

“Oh shit here we go,” he laughed, wincing a little at the thought of your friends’ reactions.

“Don’t get me wrong, I like that we have things that are just us – it makes them special. But the girls were just like woah those are some thirsty random girls and I bet his DMs are full of titty pics and bad flirting,” you groaned, JT’s grimace confirming what you’d said, “And then some of the girls were like, you’re not even on his socials so of course they think he’s single, which is true but really not the point, and-”

“So why don’t we make a stupid insta post then?” he said, interrupting.

“What?” you asked, confused.

“You’re fed up with the flirting and the speculation. I want everyone to know that I’m the luckiest guy alive. This is a win-win situation,” JT said simply.

“Really? You’d want to do that? You hate sappy insta posts,” you said, raising an eyebrow.

“I might hate those cheesy posts couples do but I love you. You know I’m literally obsessed with you,” JT shrugged, smiling softly.

You felt your cheeks rush with heat at his sweet words, butterflies filling your stomach. For someone who was usually so reserved with his declarations of feelings, he sure could pick his moments.

“JT Compher you are the biggest simp,” you giggled.

JT’s soft smile turned into a wide grin, making you laugh as he shrugged again.

“Guilty as charged,” he said simply.

“You know we don’t have to, right? I don’t want you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with just for me. I know all those girls on the internet and in the bars don’t mean anything to you – I trust you,” you said seriously.

It was one thing for him to want to make you feel more secure, but if it came at the price of him feeling uneasy? No way. But he just shook his head, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your lips.

“Baby, I want to show you off to the world. I want everyone to know that you’re mine,” JT said, smiling sweetly, “You’re not the only one who gets jealous and annoyed with all the people who hit on you.”

Well when he put it like that…

“Looks like we’re going public then babe,” you grinned.

JT grinned back at you and pulled his phone out of his jeans pocket, immediately starting to scroll.

“Leave this with me. I have an idea,” he said happily.

On a normal day, you’d be concerned that your usually-grumpy was so enthusiastic about putting together an Instagram post – but for this sweetness you were willing to let the strangeness slide. If he was this excited about putting up a public post to shout out about your relationship to the world (finally) then who were you to dim that sunshine?
