Ok, first: I LOVE Shen Yuan, I really do, there isn't any part in SVSSS I wavered in that bc his personality was just so fucking amusing I wouldn't trade him for the world

Now, having said that, imagine if instead of wanting to avoid his death his first worry was Luo Binghe development going the same as the novel and for that to happen he NEEDS to be the villain... Except he kinda of sucks at it

I mean ofc the system would have to be a lot more lenient but can you imagine SY-SQQ just approaching LBH and going "Binghe, you must understand! It is my duty to push you into danger so you can grow as the shining protagonist you're meant to be!!!"

Binghe is confused but kinda touched? Well, at least that explains wht his shizun was so harsh with him...

The sect is just looking away, better to pretend everything is alright and that a qi deviation did not make one of them go cuckoo bananas

And the whole story just being SY doing "villain" things that end up being good for everyone around him, specially Binghe

And SY is just like "yeah I'll die for sure cause I got the villain role (cut to system hiding his newly acquired romantic interest role) but at least these despicable actions will make Binghe stronger, he deserves the best life... just hopes he kills me quickly"

And just like in Fiance's Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess, Binghe only cares about the well being of his shizun and he will fight you if you don't let him finish his evil monologue or whatever he is doing

hey lovelies!

so last weekend i had a complete meltdown when i couldn't find my copy of "pride and prejudice" (the one with all my notes!) and ended up reorganizing my entire book collection at 2am. classic me behavior. but honestly? it was the best decision i've made in ages because now i actually know where everything is and i'm not buying duplicate books anymore (yes, i somehow owned three copies of "the bell jar"… don't ask).

i thought i'd share my super simple system for keeping track of my little library in case any of you are drowning in books too!

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the physical organization ･:.ೃ࿔

i tried organizing by color once and while it looked pretty on instagram, it was literally impossible to find anything. so now i do a mix of these categories that actually makes sense for how i use my books:

favorites shelf - these are my ride-or-die books that i reread constantly and want to grab easily

to-be-read shelf - keeps all my unread books in one place so they don't get lost in the mix

read-but-keeping shelf - books i've finished but want to hold onto

reference section - cookbooks, style guides, etc that i need to access quickly

borrowed books corner - a special spot just for books that aren't mine so i actually remember to return them (sorry to everyone waiting for their books back…)

within each section, i organize alphabetically by author because i'm basic like that. but honestly it works!

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the tracking system ･:.ೃ࿔.

this is the game changer! i used to rely on my memory (lol) to keep track of what i'd read until i found myself 50 pages into a book before realizing i'd already read it. now i use:

a simple reading journal - nothing fancy, just a notebook where i write the title, author, when i started/finished it, and a few thoughts

sticky flags in different colors - blue for beautiful quotes, pink for plot points i want to remember, yellow for things to research later

the inside cover trick - i write the date i finished the book and a tiny heart rating (♥♥♥♥♥) system on the inside cover

a digital backup - i use storygraph (not goodreads all the time because amazon owns enough of my life) to keep a digital record

if you're like me and constantly lending books to friends (or borrowing them), this will save your friendships:

a dedicated "lending library" note in my phone with who has what and when they borrowed it

book plates that say "borrowed from mindy's library" (these were like $8 online and so worth it)

a rule that i only lend books i'm okay with never seeing again (learned this one the hard way)

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the "did i already read this?" solution ･:.ೃ࿔

this was my biggest problem! now i:

take a quick photo of books i read but don't keep (like library books)

keep a "books i've read" list in my notes app for quick reference while browsing bookstores

add a tiny dot on the upper right corner of the first page of books i own and have finished

it's not a perfect system but it's simple enough that i actually stick with it! the key is finding what works for your reading habits rather than trying to create some instagram-perfect color-coded situation that you'll abandon after a week.

trying to play the dlc now, but i’m having such a hard time getting into it ::’)

it could be cus the base game was so satisfying, and cus im still pretty early into it, but so far there’s like, no friends. no signals. no translations. and it’s hard to find any leads.

i’ve found a couple slide reels, i found a Bone Cellar (as i’m calling it), some strange room by the reservoir that’s apparently tracking the supernova… i found a vault? i want to see if i can open it soon, but it’s all just leading me in circles rn. double and triple checking places i’ve already been, searching for anything that can take me anywhere, until the dam breaks and sweeps me away… and so far i feel like that’s all there is. i know it isn’t but yk…

and it’s so hard that there’s no individuals here. no names, just the owlk as a whole and their stranger… it especially sucks cus that was my favorite part about the nomai. i got to read their conversations, learn their dynamics, their passions and motivations, what moved them forward, what broke them down… but here, so far, there’s not that much, and i’m finding it hard to care.

There are so many parts of the murderbot tv show that seem fine on first glance but are so baffling if you think about them for two seconds. Like the extremely anticlimactic governor module hacking is very funny and a cute introduction to mb as a character but. Murderbot not knowing whether it hacked its governor module before or after the ganaka pit incident is actually a major plot point in artificial condition. Thats the whole reason it wants to go back there. It doesn't know whether it hacked itself to cause violence or prevent violence. Why would you take away that aspect of the mystery for no reason i just dont get it.

recently had a therapy appointment where i talked about the weirdness of “cav” being something that changes a lot and feels extremely fluid in comparison to “oakley” or “sadie” who are very firm in their sense of self. my therapist suggested that “cav” might not be an individual part but rather a subsystem of parts who just fall under the “cav” umbrella. this has been really strange to think about, but its also one of those “oh duh” kind of discoveries.

“cav” has always been the outermost self, not a singletsona but not not a singletsona. almost a host but “cav” is so fluid that calling themselves that feels like a disservice to all the other cavs. it was always one of those “yeah its kinda weird that i’m like this when oakley and sadie arent but its not that weird ig” until i had the idea that this is what a subsystem could be presented to me. and honestly having someone put the label subsystem onto it makes me kinda want to smack past me in the forehead for not realizing it sooner

We have more of a headspace than I thought. I'll explain later how our collective works in a much more well-written post, for now all you need to know is that I'm Techno, I'm the one fronting, and like thirty seconds after the new year hit I was like "FUCK. The response was a very clear image of a solid chunk of our group, in fact I wanna say everyone but I could only see some people clearly, chilling around a campfire and yelling about new years. Trixie, who is a distinct flavor of chaos I can't even begin to describe, goes "Don't worry, we can have a way better party in headspace because the laws of like. reality and shit don't apply! :D"

Cue her suddenly getting the wide eyes indicating an idea that I should be afraid of, and she just "HOLY SHIT WE DON'T HAVE TO COMPLY TO REALITY RULES. I CAN JUST LIKE. MAKE FIREWORKS. I CAN JUST HAVE FIREWORKS WHENEVER I WANT."

Phil told me I should let her have fun, which is the most dad thing he could've done. Trixie ended up with sparklers, but I'm... pretty sure she's gonna blow some shit up in headspace later.

But, sillies aside... I honestly really enjoyed seeing them having what was apparently an in-headspace party. They're clearly having fun, I don't feel any guilt for being the one in front on a holidays. It's put to rest a stress we've felt around fronting time and how often people get to front since syscovery. We don't have to worry; they're still there, they still exist and are living their lives. They just also have our shared life here to tend to. It's mundane, and it's... something that felt good to see.
