OKAY PERCY JACKSON EPISODE 6 THOUGHTS (long post)
i was definitely a bit weary of the big changes: the fact that the summer solstice deadline passed and that percy gets 4 pearls. but after thinking about it for a while i think im actually okay with it!! first of all, its making the show interesting for book readers bc they caught me off guard and now we don’t 100% know how it’s going to play out lol
but also, i like that the deadline passing raises the stakes a bit more. the fact that percy still wants to go get the bolt from the underworld, just shows how committed he’s become to the actual goal of the quest and starting to embrace his demigod side. and it’s going to make his trip to olympus at the end so much riskier & dangerous considering a whole war is literally about to start. so im okay with this
and then the 4 pearls: i still don’t think they’re going to be able to take sally with them out of the underworld. something is definitely going to happen to 1 of the pearls, it’s going to get lost in the chaos of them making it to hades’ palace or SOMETHING because a big part of the prophecy is “fail to save what matters most in the end”. they have to leave sally behind and i think it’s going to be so much more heartbreaking that percy HAD 4 pearls and HAD the chance to save his mom but they lost 1 along the way so then they’ll have to make the tough decision and TRULY fail to save what matters most… bc in the book it’s not even really an option since he only gets 3 pearls
obviously i could be wrong about that lol but i don’t think there’s any way they don’t leave sally behind because she’s not there on the beach when they’re about to fight ares, which is where they are directly after the underworld (unless they’ve switched the order around but idk how that would work)
other than that I LOVED EVERYTHING with the trio, the bestieism continues and i love it. you can really see the shift in percy and annabeth’s dynamic after the last episode it’s so cute. the little grover and percy moments were so sweet too, their convos felt RIGHT out of the books to me. also MORE SEAWEED BRAIN AND WISE GIRL!!!
LOVE the dream sequence bc it felt so book accurate, we do get a lot of percy witnessing other people’s convos through his dreams and this is the first time we’ve seen it in the show, it was great
luke immediately jumping at the chance to blame clarisse for stealing the bolt in the iris message lol im laughing
more luke/annabeth sibling set up AND hermes and may and luke backstory set up??? i was NOT expecting that so early on but im deeply obsessed
the whole hermes situation was also great… i can’t believe it but i liked LMM’s performance?? i think he sold it really well. again im so excited to be getting these convos about hermes and luke so early on because it is such a key part to the end of the series.
the conversation with percy and the nereid and the way percy reacts to thinking the quest failed??? the way he refuses to give up?? the nereid saying they all see so much of poseidon in him??? i’m unwell
crying at annabeth pick pocketing hermes, the literal god of thieves, that’s my girl fr
the entire cab driving sequence was just so funny. peak comedy, and brought some lightheartedness to the episode that i think was very needed. the new yorker in percy really came out in that scene lmao
there was just SO MANY hilarious moments of dialogue and jokes between the trio i feel like this episode captured the essence of their dynamic from the books so well
overall LOVED it, wish it was longer, and i’m curious to see how they finish it off in the next 2 episodes. i’m trying my best to hold back the criticism for any changes until we’ve seen the whole season, because i think most complaints people have from this ep will probably just be fixed or addressed in the next 2 lol

Old and New | Pt I
Blaise Zabini x muggle!reader
word count: 1971
summary: y/n is new to France on a study abroad trip. Blaise is visiting France post-Hogwarts. rags to riches story of an unfortunate muggle falling for a complicated, ridiculously wealthy person who just so happens to also be a powerful Wizard.
a/n: this started with an idea, became a moodboard, then became an entire fleshed out fic! I thought it would be short but my brain had other ideas. enjoy! note: I did write this from my personal perspective in life. as a result it is not very inclusive. I plan to change that with my next fics, I’ve just been having a really hard time lately and have been writing a lot of comfort fics and/or self-inserts to escape from irl bc irl is rly shitty for me rn
Tumblr media
It’s a brand-new start, in a brand-new apartment, in a brand-new city, in a brand-new country... an ocean away from home. I can bring Tacoma to France, right? At least, that’s what I’m trying to tell myself. Study abroad is fucking... scary. I kinda regret it. It’s a good opportunity and for someone who doesn’t travel, it should be a fun experience. But I’m currently having an anxiety attack over taking out the garbage, so I’m not sure my positive self-talk is working.
I look out the window of my top floor apartment, wait until someone finally finishes walking down the stairs, and run out my door - I nearly trip about five times going down the spiral of death, my arms feel like jelly thanks to perpetually pushing my garbage deeper in to avoid this trip, and I swing with all my might to hurl my garbage bag into the trash compacting dumpster - only it hits the bottom lip and falls to the ground, splitting open.
“Great!” I say, sarcastically, “First they send my luggage to the wrong location, then they try to say my passport isn’t valid because my apartment was a temporary address, then I’m greeted with a fridge full of rotting food and no power, then I’m bitten up by fleas and now - I just- fuck. Why can’t I just- do anything- right-“ I cut myself off when I hear a screen door slide and blink a couple times to erase the threat of tears that had been creeping up on me while I ranted.
When I look up, I see a tall, dark-skinned guy about my age - handsome. He’s wearing a suit, and expensive jewelry. Combine that with the fact he’s living in the apartment building next to me, which is worth more than my life just for one month of rent, and I put together that he’s probably rich beyond belief. I quickly look away, not wanting to stare. I silently pick up my garbage, piece by piece. As I work, I feel eyes drilling holes in the back of my head. I ignore it. It continues, and I still ignore it as I finally shove my ripped garbage bag in the compactor and slam the door shut. I hear a slight jump up above, and chuckle to myself.
I zoom back up the stairs and almost make it to the top, but I trip 5 stairs away from my door - and fall, hard. Body laid out flat hard. Cheek scraped and stinging from the metal grating on the stairs, hard. Lost the goddamned slide that caught on the stair, and can see it gradually falling, bouncing and rolling down the stairs, hard. I lift my head and see blood on the stair. I feel it running down my face. All I can think is that this really fucking hurts. The tears come, a combination of pain and frustration, and I pick myself up and stumble my way into my apartment, completely forgetting about the attractive rich boy who just watched me be a danger and inconvenience to myself.
I rush to the kitchen and grab a roll of paper towels, and run to the bathroom, I see the markings in the mirror and can tell it will leave a sizeable scar. Do I need stitches? I don’t know. Anyway, I start dabbing at everything and blood is still oozing out of every nook and cranny, to my displeasure. I’m about to start bandaging my face when I hear a knock on my door. “Fucking Christ!” I mutter to myself as I slap a wad of paper towels on my face and sulkily go to fling open my door.
I’m not sure who I’m expecting, but to see the same rich guy on my doorstep, slide in hand, probably wasn’t it. “Hey, um, I saw what happened, and I thought you might want your shoe back.” His accent sounds very British - I was expecting it to sound more like a snooty Frenchman’s.
“Oh. Um. Thanks.” I say flatly.
As my muscles twitch to begin closing the door, he says, “Would you like some help cleaning that up? I have certifications to give medical aid... and stitches. My name’s Blaise, by the way.”
Doctor, maybe? Probably. “Sure,” I say, opening the door wider and standing back so the blood doesn’t drip on his suit. “I’m y/n.”
A few minutes later we’re in my bathroom, me sitting on the toilet, him sitting on the bathtub as he helps me fix my face. “So, Mademoiselle y/n,” He asks, “Do you find yourself in these predicaments very often?”
“Which one? Poverty, flea bitten, or bloody?” I say.
“I suppose whichever you’d like to think I was referring to.”
“Well, in *that* case - I’m usually caught unawares in all kinds of predicaments - though I’d say self-injury due to clumsiness is an uncommon one. And do you usually find yourself in predicaments requiring you to treat someone’s wounds?”
“I used to, though now it’s only on the occasion.”
“Sounds like an improvement,” I note. “I won’t guarantee it, but I think I’ll get the hang of walking up the stairs soon enough, so you don’t have to worry about me.”
“I wouldn’t necessarily mind it if I did worry about you once or twice more. Why were you running? It seemed like you wanted to get away from something. Does your garbage compactor smell that disturbing?”
“It doesn’t smell great,” I admit, “But truth be told, I’m not a fan of human interaction. It’s scary. Especially when everything is new to me.”
“How long have you been In France?”
“A few days, just enough to get myself physically settled.”
“I see. And you are from America?”
“Mhm. Let me guess, my accent gave it away.”
“And the slang, I’ve yet to hear someone from France use certain terms that you seem to favor.”
“Oh, most of my slang is specific to my city, not just my country.”
“Your city?”
“Yea, Tacoma. It’s near Seattle, if you know where that is. Tacoma’s better, though.”
“I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never been there. My mother is a fashion designer, but she only travels where there’s inspiration or a business deal.” So that’s how he gets the expensive clothes. The rest of the money too, probably.
“Must be nice, having a handmade closet.” I muse. “Not that I care for having any more clothes than I brought. They’re pretty reliable, if I do say so myself.”
He laughs. “Yes, well, if the blood stains don’t come out of your jumpsuit you might need a new one. They shouldn’t be too difficult to remove, though.”
“Yea, I’ll just dump a bucket of Oxi-Clean on it and call it a day. That is, if any stores nearby have it.” I frown, realizing I have no clue if France carries any of the products I usually get. This is gonna suck. Hopefully the internet has some answers so I don’t have to ask anyone for help.
“Why don’t I take your jumpsuit back with me? Save you the trip. Believe it or not, I used to have chronic nosebleeds, so I know a thing or two about stain removal.” Blaise offers.
I smile, only just. “Well, if you insist. But I love this jumpsuit practically more than myself, so I expect it back right away!”
He returns the smile. “A fan of fashion? You ought to meet my mother.”
I chuckle. “I’m sure your mom would despise me - I only own seven jumpsuits and some athleisure for going on runs.” I pause, then tack on: “Oh, and some fuzzy pajamas for when I’m sick.”
Blaise cocks a brow at me. “And when you’re not sick?”
“Don’t worry about it.” I grin mischievously.
A wave of recognition graces his eyes, and he very quickly looks away, I assume for being flustered.
“You Americans, always so scandalous.” He tsks in mock scorn.
“That’s what we’re known for, is it not?” I say cheekily, “Beer, boobs and gun barrels. And all the other problems that come with that, but that’s a can of worms I am not looking to open today.”
He ties off his handiwork, and says, “It looks like my job is finished, other than stealing your jumpsuit off your back to fix it. I can wait in the other room, if you’d like?”
“Um, yea, that works. Lemme just, grab my next jumpsuit. Gonna have to do laundry early, I suppose-“
“I can wash your jumpsuit for you. I’m pretty good at reading labels, if I do say so myself.” He jokes.
“Oh?” I say, “Then you must be a real genius! Who taught you, Einstein?”
“No, but it was another white-haired, eccentric man, so you’re not that far off.”
“When all teachers are like that it’s kind of impossible not to hit relatively close to the mark.” I remark, then change clothes as quickly as I can, tossing the dirty outfit into a trusty plastic bag and tying it shut.
When I walk out to the living room, Blaise is toying with one of my sculptures. He’s definitely been meandering and lurking around. “Enjoying yourself?” I ask, at which he jumps. “You’re rather skittish, Blaise.”
“And you’re rather quiet on your feet, y/n.” He observes. “But yes, I quite like your eclectic style. If only you had an apartment that let your customization shine. Something more minimalist.”
“Yes, well, it’s something I’ll forever dream of and likely never accomplish. I don’t suspect I’m going to be someone leaving the income level I was born into.” I say, just a little bit cynical.
“And why is that?” He asks.
“Because most people don’t, and the ones who do are the ones who make money. My career isn’t going to make me money.” I reply.
“So why did you pick it?”
I sigh. “Because somebody has to care about the people like me. The politicians don’t, the middle class don’t, and the rich are hell bent on keeping us there so they can have factory workers and have people going straight to prison after they graduate because we’re all desperate and miserable.”
He frowns. “That’s terrible.”
“It’s reality. And I don’t want to be like the people who get rich and stop caring because all they see is the wage difference and pretend it’s justified so they don’t have to feel complicit in the system.” I look him in the eye, my face grim. “Not all luck is by chance. Most of it is by design.”
He nods. “I understand, in a way.”
“Everyone does.” I say. “But understanding in a way and caring enough to do something about it are two different things.” I look away from him when I see his posture change. “I’m not trying to be rude, but it’s impossible not to notice the wealth gap between us when you’re wearing designer clothes and living in what looks like a mansion and I’m living in a building made in like 1900 with no elevator. It’s just the way things are, though.”
“I know.” He says quietly, thoughtfully. “I’d better get going. Your clothes?” He reaches out tentatively for the bag I’m still holding.
“Oh. Right.” I say, handing it to him. Our fingers brush against each other slightly, and it sends chills down my spine. He heads to the door while I’m rooted to the spot, collecting myself.
“I look forward to seeing you again, y/n.” He nods, meeting my eyes with a rather changed expression.
“I’ll see you soon, then?” I ask, not quite sure which answer I’m expecting.
He smiles, only just. “As soon as I am able.” Seconds later, he’s out the door, and I’m alone in my dingy ass apartment. How in the fuck did any of that just happen?

A Cure for Insomnia CH 15
////TW Deceptions of canon typical violence and a home invasion near the end////
“Yea so the pizza is not only aesthetically pleasing but pretty fuckin' good too.”you finish your rant on why the two of you should drive out to Point Pleasant some time.
“Not gonna lie it seems more like you want to,” he pops his knuckles, “drag me miles away to sacrifice me to some old god.” the popping gets worse.
Shit, Toby's getting nervous. You probably look pretty sketchy right now considering the fact that you've been suggesting the two of you go out to Point Pleasant for the past thirty-ish minutes. Toby had pulled off to the shoulder lane once Connor's barking started up. Alerting the two of you to his incoming tics. It seemed to be a long episode so you offered to drive off the interstate and on to the side of the road instead. Hoping that maybe the absence of the additional outside stimulants coming from cars driving past you two would calm Toby's tics.
Unfortunately you'd gotten caught up talking about your late night escapades having been taken by the fact that Toby didn't seem to mind. He'd actually understood that restlessness you went on about. And when he asked what was the furthest town you've driven to in one night. You kind of let loose and spilled your guts about the Mothman capital.
For half an hour, on an offshoot of the interstate in the middle of nowhere, he was trapped with no where to run. Of course the poor guy was probably scared of you at this point. He was just indulging you out of fear not out of any genuine interest.
Why couldn't you just read signals properly?
“No!” from his jump you've probably said that way too loudly, “I mean sorry I get carried away – Mothman's cool – the town is a nice tourist trap and I thought you'd think it was cool – but then I just probably just seemed weird to you and now I just....ughr none of that made sense did it?”
“Weeell” he drags out as thought he's thinking on it “nope none.”
Looking at his face you can see his red stained scarred lips pull into a sort of smirk and there's a glint in his eyes. He's being sarcastic, he's making fun of you. He isn't weirded out by you just being yourself and ranting about nothing in particular or running around in circles with a train of thought only  to get confused or baffled by the workings of your own brain.
The smug dick. Letting you spiral while he watched on in amusement. This reeks of Brian, has his fuck boy energy written all over it. You'll just have to spend more time with Toby to make sure the sweet man next to you doesn't turn into a menace to society. Or at least not a menace to you.
“Meanie.” you blow a raspberry in his direction, he returns the gesture albeit a lot messier than he intended. Spit seeps from the gash in his cheek and dribbles down the scarred edge of his lips.
Toby lets out a grunt and looks down at his spit in disgust. Whether that's in himself or just his spit you can't tell. Leaning over the console you pop open the glove box to hand him some emergency napkins you had in there.
“Fuckin' Mary Poppins.” you hear him mutter over you.
Choosing to ignore his teasing and take the high road in this you hand him the napkins and relax back into your seat. Watching him run the napkin up and down his arms trying to get any spit that may have backfired onto him, which was definitely most of it.
“You good?” you ask.
“Uh yea 's just spit no big deal.” it's such a simple statement but you can't help the smile that it brings to your face.
You meant if he'd be good to drive yet since you two had been out here for the better part of an hour now. It was nearly two in the afternoon. Neither of you anticipated the quick slushy run turning into an all day event. And while you wouldn't mind driving around for two more hours or so – you're quickly coming to the end of your battery.
“Meant to drive, dork.”
“Hmm...Yea should be now,” Toby says wadding up the napkins before spinning in the passenger seat towards you and gently flinging the wad of napkins in your face, “and 'm not a dork. You are.”
Returning his spit used napkin to him, tossing it just a tad harsher than he originally had, “You're right you're a brat!”
You exit the car before he can throw it at you again. Though it really doesn't matter when he just pelts you with it from over the hood when you switch seats anyway. Picking the napkin up off the ground you hold on to it and place it in one of the empty slushy containers sitting in your console.
The mature course of action. However, you do poke your tongue out at Toby as you do it. He only rolls his eyes as he huffs out a laugh at you.
Toby hovers over the gear shift waiting for either an alert or one of his tics to rear its head. When neither happens he put the car in drive and you two begin your hour and half drive back to Kepler.
Or would've, had it not been for the traffic you seemed to get stuck in not even five minutes after getting back on the interstate.
“You're fucking kidding me.” Toby says incredulously.
After ten minutes of going nowhere, all the while his leg bouncing was shaking the car, Toby abruptly get out of the car and marches to the passenger door flinging it open.
“You're driving.” is all he says.
You don't think there's any talking him out of it. You're good to drive so that isn't the issue, his abruptness about the situation is what stuns you. Wordlessly you get out of the car and take the wheel. Getting buckled in you see from the corner of your eye Toby grabbing you phone and typing away.
He seems to find what he's looking for as static flows through your stereo. The sponsored ads for the white noise “podcast” start playing before fading back into the never ending static. Your phone is placed back under the radio and Toby reclines his seat all the way.
It's tense for a moment as you wait for something else to happen. Whether it's an outburst or an explanation you aren't sure, the anticipation for anything to happen hangs thick in the car. You keep your focus on the road and traffic in front of you figuring Toby will let you know what's up in his own time.
The sound of shuffling comes from behind you as Connor scoots over to his handler to be of assistance. Only for him to be gently waved off. And he goes back to his spot laying down and honing in on you. Since you are currently driving...even though scooting the car up a few inches in the past twenty minutes shouldn't really qualify as driving. Nevertheless the pup remains vigilant in his work.
It's probably an hour or so before Toby finally speaks, breaking the semi silence he put the car in.
“Traffic jams make me anxious.” he doesn't move from his reclined position, just stares up at the ceiling of your car.
A noncommittal hum comes from the back of your throat. You'd assumed it was something to that nature but didn't want to pry. It must be bad if it was something that made him willingly pass the torch of driving, something that also made him wildly uncomfortable.
“Wanna talk – or do you just need silence.”
The answer came in the form of the silence that followed. It was another long hour and a half before the traffic finally cleared. You weren't even aware so many people could be on the interstate going through West Virginia on a Monday afternoon. Since you were at the tail end of the traffic by the time you got to where you assume it started, by the left over debris in the road and fresh skid marks heading into the median, you really couldn't put together what had gone on.
Your eyes didn't focus in on the leftovers of the accident nor did you slow down like many other vehicles. It's not like you enjoy seeing the wreckage of cars or people being lifted into ambulances but you understand most people give in to that base human curiosity. You just hoped everyone involved was safe and okay.
From your peripheral you catch Toby turning his head to face you every few minutes or so. Disregarding it as a tic you continue on driving. While this accident had cleared you don't doubt the power of stupidity to not influence another reckless driver, who might now be late from traffic, to start weaving in between lanes.
“Are we past it?” comes the quietest voice you've ever heard from Toby.
So stunned by the volume it takes you a minute to register what he'd asked.
“Uh...oh yea. We passed it like fourteen minutes ago?” assuming 'it' had been the crash site, though you hadn't been keeping track of time honestly.
No point when the two of you would be getting back to Kepler after dark anyway. You'd ask Toby if he'd want to grab food before you drop him off at the lodge but his continued silence as he fixes his seat up right clues you in that he might not be up for anything other than turning in for the night. Honestly you're at the point yourself, so you don't really mind the silence driving back.
Just like you thought the two of you got into Kepler a little after eight o'clock. Having been stopped by another accident, this one not lasting nearly as long to get situated, had really taken a toll on Toby's mood though. You could practically feel something eating at him as anxiety radiated off his form.
He didn't offer any clarification for his reactions and you didn't pry. Most times when you get a similar way you find it's easier to just let it run it's course than to try and calm yourself. So you're a little surprised when you reach the lodge and  Toby practically volts out of your car, when he gently taps on your window after he's retrieved Connor from behind you.
“Get home safe.”
Those words hit your ears with a bit more weight than they normally do. Maybe because the day's been full of accidents on the road. Or maybe because of the lack of interaction the two of you have had for the past four hours. Whatever the reason it doesn't change how Toby lingers at your side even after your reply. He finally steps away, once again falling silent, and you're able to drive home after a final farewell to him.
The way Toby reacted today never leaves your mind. While theories and ideas toss around in your head you can feel the bubbling weight in your stomach build as cold sweats break out all over your body. Combating the weight in your stomach is its emptiness. Having only eaten the bowl of cereal today and nothing else has left you on empty since you'd gotten into traffic. However, being so preoccupied with Toby's change in behavior you'd forgone food in favor of getting your friend home as soon as possible.
Pausing when you come to the fork in the road making you choose between going straight home and fighting with cooking a meal or running to the mini mart and grabbing something quick and unhealthy. You normally take a bit to decide, but today it seems your gut is telling you to forgo the food and get home. You can't quite place a finger on what you're feeling – not quite fear or anxiety or even paranoia. All of which would be valid considering how weird your afternoon had been. Instead it feels like a little voice is ever so quietly telling you that you should get home immediately.
The voice pipes up again as soon as you gently shut your car door. It seems to warn you that there is danger near by.
'Fuck' is all you can think about as memories of the evidence of your stalker come into play.
It had been so busy lately that you'd honestly forgotten all about the stalker. Hell your bat was still in your room, so you were fucked if your intuition was right about this. You were at least going to be smart about this and pull up the Cowell's home phone contact on your cell before even getting near the front door. If anything happened you'd call and either leave a message or have a concerned Big Jo over instantly.
The house is silent as you open and shut the front door. Not anything new to you but with the tension in the air you're more than certain someone is here with you. Making your way through the house you peer into the kitchen and living room. The coast is clear on those fronts which leaves the hall closet, your bedroom, and the bathroom right across from your room.
Quickly ruling out the closet because of the limited space for a grown adult to hide in. The only options are your bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom that has the door open at all times and would make a great place to hide and ambush you while you went into you room. Or a good place to lock yourself in to call Jo in case they were in your room, you'd just have to be ready to sprint out faster than they could register seeing you. Then there's your room, multiple hiding spots and the baseball bat you'd left in there. Even if they came empty handed they were the one with the weapon right now, you had to be careful.
As you make your way slowly and soundlessly down the hall way you hear a small beep come from your bedroom just as you stand in the doorway of the bathroom. You don't own anything that beeps. This thought causes you to freeze in place all but your thumb which hits the dial button.
Just in time too, because in your stupor a large figure in a black ski mask opens the door to your bedroom. You barely have time to react to the sudden appearance before they come barreling into you. A sharp pain bursts in the back of your head as it collides with the wall that you are tackled into. Phone forgotten, instinctively you bring both hands to your attacker's face.
They may be wearing a ski mask but it will do little to protect their eyes against your nails. Thankfully they have a stupid red frowny face decorating the mask, giving you the perfect target for their eyes. Not expecting your quick reflexes the attacker pulls away slightly trying to get out of your reach, and get your hands off of their mask. They must be worried you'll find out their identity, and while that would be nice you'd enjoy surviving this encounter a lot more. So you continue your assault on your would be assaulter.
A large hand comes down and swoops both of yours in a crushing grip. Harshly yanking them away from their face. Unfortunately for them they'd gotten one of your knees pressed against your chest when they tackled you. With the new distance between your bodies you're able to lift your leg up higher and kick at them.
“Get OFF of me..you piece of SHIT.” more force exerted on certain words while you kicked them solidly in the chest.
Their grip actually gets tighter on your hands as you knock the air out of their lungs. Aside from that and their pained grunts they weren't giving much of a reaction. You'd be certain you weren't kicking hard enough if it wasn't for a cough that ripped through them on a particularly powerful kick to the stomach.
There's a distant warble that you can't make out, it's high pitched and annoying. Good, that irritating sound will only succeed in pissing you off more and enabling you to unleash your rage on the fucker holding you down right now.
Before you can give another blow pain erupts through your chest as it constricts. You can't breathe and you see black dots forming in your vision as you're slammed into the tile floor of your bathroom. There's a foggy feeling in your head, and that distant warble gets more frantic and higher in pitch. But you can't focus on that you can't focus on anything that isn't the merciless thudding in your chest, the pounding of your head, and the god awful static that is starting to burn your ears like a white hot fire.
With the first heavy and heaving breath you're able to take as your assailant presses you into the ground, you feel the rush of adrenaline surge through you. Without any leverage you can do little more  than squirm and thrash under the heavier figure. A brief feeling of vindication showers you as one of your arms is tugged free in your flailing. Your attacker isn't quick enough to restrain you this time and you reach your hand up to their face, this time intent on clawing it up from under the mask. That way some one would know based on the nail marks who did this, and maybe the DNA left under your skin would be enough identify them and save a future would be victim.
God you didn't want to be a victim.
Just before you can hook your fingers into their flesh they are thrown off of you. All adrenaline you had before turns into ice as you stare at their companion. The white mask with painted black features. It hadn't been a hallucination.
They hadn't been a hallucination.
They'd been in your home before. While you were there and blissfully unaware. They'd been so still, so quiet that you'd never even thought they were anything more than a messed up part of your psyche. There isn't enough time to dwell on this feeling of pure terror that spikes through you. But you still freeze in the face of the mask, only to be rewarded with an iron grip locked into your hair pulling you up by the scalp. Then you're bashed against the floor twice.
You honestly hadn't meant to play dead. In your shock it was the only thing you could do to just go limp. That once high pitched warble is now a drawn out moan almost, the static is playing at the edges of your mind as you barely make out the sound of retreating footsteps.
You want to roll onto your back but as nausea hits you at just the thought you stay on your side. Eyes fluttering against your will, this time not a tic but in an attempt to heal your body on it's limited energy reserves. You doubt you'd be able to turn over again if you needed to vomit. Hell you'd be lucky to stay conscious till someone came looking for you.
Would that be in the morning when you don't show up for work? Would it be days from now? Wait did you manage to call the Cowells?
The pounding in your head gets worse with each passing second. You officially can't keep your eyes open anymore. There's no reaction from you when you hear your front door burst open and yelling echo through the empty house. You don't stir from your sleep as someone taps you, not shaking you but just gentle taps careful to not exacerbate your injuries.
When Big Jo got to your home he slammed open your door and had his gun at the ready for your attackers. The house didn't look messed with and nothing was out of place, at least to him he'd only ever been out this far to drop little Jo off once or twice. It was quiet in your home except for a murmuring coming down the hall. So he made his way down slowly, vigilant for any sudden movement if there was anyone other than you here. He'd called your name several times since entering and hadn't received a reply.
As he got closer to the bathroom the murmuring became louder, peering in his heart stopped for a beat. The weathered man has seen a lot of shit in his time but he always hated to see a kid in your condition. Beaten with bruises littering your face and wrists all while being unresponsive as he tried to wake you. The source of the noise became clear when he saw your phone a few feet away slid into the corner away from you.
Dia was still on the line and sobbing now. If that didn't twist the knife that was already speared into his heart. Picking up your phone he spoke with his wife trying to reassure her as he felt for a pulse. You had one, one that was faster than normal. Your body was probably still reeling from what you just went through. But he wasn't a doctor and wouldn't count you out of the woods until one assessed you themself.
Jo wasn't waiting long before he heard the sirens, he went out front to meet the sheriff. After you'd been packed into an ambulance and taken to St. Francis Hospital Jo told Dia so she could meet you there. He'd stuck around while the sheriff and his deputy surveyed the area and came back to him for his statement.
“Looks like we've got most of what we needed Jo...But the kid, they got hallucinations you said?” Sheriff Owens asked.
“Why're you asking Zeke?” now wasn't the time to anger the large man as he was barely holding his normal civility.
“Now I don' mean nothin' by it – 's jus' tha' well we didn' find any evidence of a break in.”
“You think the kid coulda done that to themself? The marks on their wrists are bigger than their hands!”
“Jo, in some cases people sufferin' from delusions can do all sorts a things ta themselves... 'm just trin' ta find out if we ought ta have 'em kept in the ward for a bit.”
“They're fine. They've told me themself that they only get visual hallucinations and they can differentiate between the two.” a small lie on his part, he knows occasionally a hallucination will grab your attention for longer than it should if that were the case but he'll keep you out of the damn ward for now because this wasn't a hallucination. He had heard the struggle going on between you and someone else.
Right now his top concern was getting to the hospital and meeting up with Dia to make sure your condition was stable. If he had to lie to the sheriff to do it, so be it. Not like he wouldn't enlist his own detail to figure out what went down here. He'd let you stay with them while he contacted Lydia about updating security on her property.
Sheriff Owens didn't put up a fight on this, and said he'd swing by the hospital Wednesday to get your statement on the encounter. With that the sheriff and deputy piled into their car and left. Jo had found your keys still in the door and locked your home, a lot of good it did you but at least this way a bear wouldn't get in before they set up the new system.
Jo got to St. Francis and was greeted by his teary eyed daughter and sobbing wife. Dia really wasn't cut out for any type of violence. He's have to make sure she called her therapist this week for an extra appointment or two just to help her through this. Looking at his daughter he sees the worry in her eyes as she runs to him.
A doctor comes up to the family to inform them of your condition.
“Ah Mr. Cowell good to see you. Mx. LN is responsive right now, and in enough of their right mind to complain that we are keeping them awake.” The doctor pauses with a slight chuckle, “We have them set up with an IV drip that's giving them fluids, their pain meds, and for tonight they'll also have a caloric infusion. They mentioned that they hadn't eaten much today. So to ensure their body has the energy to heal we thought it'd be the best course of action. We're keeping them up for another hour or so before they can sleep and then we'll be keeping them for observation for at least two days.”
“Can we see YN?” little Jo interrupts.
“Unfortunately we believe they wouldn't enjoy that right now. Their injuries aren't extensive but they are quite cranky due to residual pain and hunger.” the doctor says with a smile to little Jo. “Now speaking of their injuries the worst of which is their slight concussion again we're monitoring that and they seem to be very receptive to us right now. And then there's the dislocation of their left shoulder that we've already mended and the various bruising and mental trauma they're likely to retain from the incident your wife has briefly informed us about. We'll give a card for a good therapist to you and one to Mx. LN on their departure. When can we expect the Sheriff coming?”
“Owens said Wednesday.”
“Perfect, then that should be all. If anything changes or we want to keep them longer we'll let you know right away. And Miss Cowell if you come back in the morning we're sure Mx. LN will be much more agreeable company.”
The doctor waits for a moment letting the Cowells have time to process and ask a question or two. But when nothing comes up the doctor turns away to continue their work elsewhere.
And with that the very emotionally exhausted Cowell family go home. With plans to come visit you sometime tomorrow. Big Jo does however makes a few phone calls before going to bed that night. It isn't lost on him that he's already had one employee mysteriously vanish, he doesn't like the thought that she was targeted and your next on some hit list.

Bruce's Bat Baby
This is a story I wrote about this post I saw this is my take on the Bruce part.
Bruce and I had met shortly after he had adopted Dick Grayson and quickly fell in love with him and everything about the Wayne heir. We got engaged around the time he adopted Cassandra Cain by this time Jason Todd had lived and died and lived again and the most recent Robin was Tim Drake. I went out most nights I also preferred to stay in and work the coms with Barbara Gordon. Then came Stephanie Brown she was a surprise to they the least but she wasn't a shock like Damian was to the Bat family. Bruce had a biological son. Sure we weren't married but we already had all these kids, it hadn't occurred to me that he might want kids with me. Two years later we got married. We were at a calm and then the conversation of us having kids came back up two months after we got back from out honey moon.
I was sitting on the bed getting ready to crawl under the covers when Bruce came in and looked me in the eyes, “What about another kid?”
“Who’d did you find this time?” I asked wondering if he had found another kid on the side of the street, “Someone else try to steal the tires off the bat mobile.” I crawled across the bed, shoving my feet under the blankets and then the rest of my body. Bruce laid down beside me on top of the blankets, I cocked my head, “What?”
He smiled at me, kissed me on the head and then turned off the lights and the conversation wasn't brought up again.
But two weeks later we had a gala event all the kids went a few of the titans came too, me and Bruce spent most of the night helping Lois and Clark on an article. That night Bruce and I had one too many drinks, we woke up that morning tangled in blankets with Bruce's alarm going off.
He covered me up and kissed me on the head before he left for work, I had the day off. Dick came over from an off shift and after I got showered and changed he got into bed with me and we watched movies while Cassie, Steph, Damian , and Tim were all in school Barbra had work as a librarian. Luke and Duke also had work. So while Alfred cleaned the house Dick and I watched old movies and ate popcorn, Ace came to join us.
Dick fell asleep with his head on my shoulder and I think I fell asleep too because when I woke up to Jason who spent the day doing whatever taking the photo of the two of us, he saw I was awake and without having to say anything he got into bed laying down next to me and grabbing the remote and choosing the next movie. When I woke up again, Dick was gone and so was Jason in there place was Cassie and Tim who were crossed legged at the end of the bed Damian was curled up asleep, all three of them in their school uniforms.
Eventually we got up and moved to the dining room where I made the four of us lunch Alfred wasn't too happy but he cleaned up.
A few days had passed and I was at work at Wayne Enterprises sitting in my office when suddenly a wave of nausea rushed over me. I raced to my private bathroom off from my office and threw up. I sat down on the floor with my head in my hands as another wave hit me.
I didn't tell anyone about that. The sickness began to happen in the morning and Bruce caught on. For the first three or four days I had managed to get out of bed into the bathroom throw up and shower and change, but today Bruce followed me to the bathroom and held my hair back without a word. His large and calloused hands massaged my back as I leaned forward and heaved. When I was done I leaned into his embrace, he had a wet washcloth and wiped my face with it, folding it over he put in on my head as I caught my breath. “How long has this been going on?” Bruce left the washcloth on my head, i leaned my head back and stared at the ceiling, Bruce intertwined his fingers around me.
“A few days.” I went to lean forward and stand up but him hands caught me and with a wet slap the washcloth hit the floor. “Let me up.” it was a quiet whisper those last three words, “Its just the flu.”
“The flu?” He asked as I leaned forward away from his becoming embrace. Bruce placed one hand on my waist keeping me down and one on my forehead, I brought my hands up to his and kept the coolness of his skin on my head. “You're burning up.”  He began to make slow movements to stand, “Lets get you into bed.” with one arm on my back and one under my legs he picked me up and carried me to the bed. “ill call you off work and ill tell Alfred to make you breakfast in bed.”
“Go to your meeting” He kissed me on the cheek,
“Ill have Dick check up on you when he gets back.” Bruce leaves for work knowing that after his shift today he wont be going on patrol, he will be crawling into bed with me.
A few minutes later, Alfred walks into the room, I'm sitting up ready for a breakfast tray, and he sets it down, overtop my legs the first thing i do is unroll my napkin and a pregnancy test falls into my hands, I look up at Alfred with my mouth open in shock, ”Master Bruce told me your symptoms, it could just be the flu but it could be a child.” I look away from him and look down at the light blue and purple stick, “Now close your jaw you'll catch a fly, Mistress Anne.”
I utter a quick thanks before he leaves the room and closes the door, I stare at the stick i left on the mattress next to me, outside the door I hear Alfred tell the kids I'm sick and not to bother me before school. I can hear Jason doing the crossword on the bench in the hall outside of my room, my eyes never stray from the stick until I move the tray and head into the bathroom. I pee on the stick and sit on the floor with a timer on my phone set for two minutes.
Me and Bruce always had a family when we started dating he had Dick and I was here when he got everyone else, his own children, Gordon's daughter, i was here when the accidents happened, Babs lost her ability to walk and when Jason died. I was here for them, so maybe if that stick says what i think it says they will all be there for me, I've been apart of this family for so long that sometimes it feels like because they all have the hero thing and yea I do it to but they do it more often and they all have that bonding of shared trauma and because I was raised in a middle class family, I will never have what Bruce and the kids have. My phone begins to buzz without looking I click the phone off and stand up. I look at the little plus sign on the stick. I get in the show and change into new pajamas and by the time I'm coming back into my room to hid the stick in my bedside table, the breakfast tray is gone.
After tucking the stick away on my bedside table I walk out of my room to the kitchen where Dick and Jason are arguing, they both stop when they see me, “Don't stop on my account.”
I open a cabinet but due to the fact that I'm normally waring heels when i'm out of my room and not dark pink bunny slippers I couldn't reach the crackers, Dick saw and without hesitation he grabbed it for me. He then put a hand on my head, “Fevers gone, how ya feeling?”
“Thank you,” I pull the box of crackers out of his hand and head to another set of cabinets to grab the peanut butter, “I'm feeling better.” Trying to contain the smile on my face as I pulled the butter knife out of a drawer. I sat down at the table and the two of them sat with me, “What were you two fighting about?”
The two of them sit at the counter with me and begin to rant about what happened on patrol last night, we laugh together and the moment Alfred sees me he lets me finish eating before he ushers me back to bed, both Jason and Dick wish me good luck as Alfred tucks me in, the two of them go back out on patrol.
I sit in bed with Ace until Bruce comes home, His shoulders are tense so when he sits on the edge of the bed I crawl over to him and begin giving him a shoulder rub. “How are you feeling, Dick said the fevers gone.”
I smile, “Better.” I begin to crawl to my bedside table and I pull the purple and white stick with the faded plus sign out I set it down and go back to rubbing his shoulders. “Turns out it wasn't the flu.”
“Hmm” Bruce just leans into my massage, “What was it? A cold?”
“No” I pull back and grab the stick i then wrap my arms around him putting the plus in his line of sight. “I think we should go to the doctor before we start telling people,” Bruce grabs the stick out of my hands and stands up before turning to look at me, “I know its a lot, I think Alf-” Bruce has the biggest smile on his face, he puts his hands on waist and spins me around the room.
He sets me on the ground, one of my slippers flew off, he kisses me hard, keeping that cheeky grin of his, “Ill call the doctor, we’ll drop the kids off at school, Jason and Dick will patrol again, we will go out to lunch than  if its true.” He kisses me again, “We will have a family dinner in a few days.” I'm not sure how long we stood their and hugged and cried I also don't remember going to sleep or driving the kids to school because next thing I know me and Bruce are sitting in the waiting room of the doctors office.
I don't hear the nurse call the name or the doctor introduce herself I vaguely hear her explain what's she's gonna do I'm too busy thinking about when the baby was conceived, I think it was the night of the gala and so does Bruce that was a little under a month ago a little more than twenty two days, we should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. I put on the hospital gown and Bruce folds my clothes eventually the doctor walks back in.
She places cold gel on my stomach and Bruce's hand is in mine. I turn my head to look at the screen and there it is a small looking peanut shape, “There it is.” The doctor points at the grey and white on the staticky screen and suddenly this is real, this is I sat on the bathroom floor when I knew the truth, I think I have known since that night that there was a baby inside me and I've always been a parent but now Ill actually be a mom, I didn't know I was crying until Bruce wiped away my tears and then we heard it a small and tiny noise that whispered of love and screamed joy in both our ears a little heartbeat.
The doctor spoke to us some more, I got prenatal vitamins and other meds she thought I would need. She told Bruce about everything I would go through and then some, I got changed and we got lunch then headed home. Bruce showed the photos to Alfred before he even had his coat off. Alfred congratulated us, he was going to invited everyone to dinner next week. The two of them left me alone to go plan.
The next week goes by fast the only question I get are why I haven't been out patrolling for the moment I've been shrugging them off but I think Damian is getting suspicious although he hasn't said anything. Bruce has been getting up an hour early so that when I get morning sickness There's towels and bottled water set up in the bathroom for me, He’s also been cutting back on his patrolling shifts and has been telling the kids that's me and him are working on a project for work. When in reality we are working on plans for the nursery, we have kids but we've never had a baby before this was new territory, given we had eight months we had no idea what to do and we still are clueless.
Me and Bruce wore our dinner clothes to work, business causal we were in meetings all day, and eventually time was for dinner, we had made it so that only immediate members of the so called “Bat Clan” were allowed to dinner. Alfred cooked a chicken dinner with biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy there was corn and peas as well. Dick was in his police uniform and Jason wore his normal clothes but with a tie on top of everything. Tim, Damian, Steph and Cassie were all wearing school uniforms, Duke and Luke also were wearing business casual and Babs was wearing a blouse and skirt.
They brought up old conversations and family photos to Steph's famous food Instagram page, and to the last meme Tim tagged Bruce in.  Dick brings up a case he’s currently working on down at the GCPD and Jason says something inappropriate that makes everyone laugh. Cassie doesn't say much but she nods and a smile appears on her face. As the conversation dies down Babs asks the question, “Is there a reason were having family dinner tonight, I don't mind its just-”
“I'm pregnant.” I say the whole table is quiet, both me and Bruce are trying to take in everyone's expressions.
“And during the remaining eight months i will be hanging up the cowl, the justice league doesn't know yet why I'm giving up being batman.”
“This is real?” Jason says eyes wide.
Cassie lets out a laugh and signs congratulations.
“Baby names!” Stephanie pulls a pen out of her pocket and begins writing on her cloth napkin, I let out a laugh as Tim leans over to help her.
“You need boy names too!” Cassie leans over to read the names as Tim yells at Steph.
“Congrats you too.” Dick says nodding his head he then glances at Steph's napkin that is upside down to him, “Does that say Dino Nugget?”
Jason leans over and reads the list, “I don't think Batman is going ot name his child Baby Bat.”
The rest of the evening was spent it a cheerful mood and ended with Bruce showing everyone the ultrasound pictures.
The night was a success now came the hard part, preparation for the baby and the next nine months.

Bruces Bat Baby
This is a story I wrote about this post I saw this is my take on the Bruce part.
I originally posted this on my main right here I'm leaving it up but I'm posting the rest on this account

He advised you to do the same, but being in a strange place made you uneasy and unable to sleep. You texted Kid to see if he was still up. He was already used to the late nights when he was invested in another project of his. Back and forth you went, talking about nothing in particular. Until Ace spoke up from his side of the room. “If you’re gonna stay up at least put your phone on silent.”
“Sorry, Ace. Didn’t mean to disturb you” He hummed in approval as he got out of bed and got into yours. “I can’t sleep either anyway. Who’re you texting?” A brazen move on his part. He had you flustered in bed. Embarrassed by the closeness he was presenting. “K-kid.” He made a small sound going back to his bed to retrieve his phone.
NEW CHAT ROOM WITH KID, ACE, Y/N
ACE: heard you were up. Can’t sleep?
Kid: yea, nothing new
ACE: wanna play a prank on sabo?
KID: hell yea
Y/N: but what would we do?
KID: let’s get a picture of his sleeping face. I bet that could go for a lot of money
ACE: we’ve tried before, but he always catches us.
Y/N: you did?
ACE: yea b4 with Sanji. He wanted a picture because none of us. or well anyone has seen him asleep before
Y/N: that’s hard to believe
KID: it’s true. Last time we tried he hung us upside down for a whole week!
ACE: but this time he won’t expect it because of the retreat…
ACE: I’m in. Wby Y/N?
Y/N: sounds like a bad idea
Y/N: I’m in 👍
KID: great let’s meet by his room in 10
ACE: 👌
Y/N: K
You and Ace left the room as quietly as you could, and made your way to where Sabo’s room should be. Luckily this area of the palace was one of the first you toured before getting deeper into the historical parts of this place. Before you were sucked into the labyrinth.
“What took so long? I said ten minutes.” Kid crossed his arm. He can be impatient at times. “Sorry. We were trying not to wake Sanji, but he kept moving in his sleep.” you both walked up to Kid ready to put your necks on the line. If Sabo found out about what you were doing he’d have a fit. “Let’s just go in,” said Ace from behind you, “be quiet.” He reached for the knob, turning it slowly then pushing on the door. It looked so meticulous it was almost laughable. All three of you stepped into the dark room, closing the door behind you. You could have thought you all went blind if it wasn’t for the frail light the weak moon gave off. It didn’t show anything in the room, it was just a pale glow in the dark of the ink surrounding it. “Where’s the bed? How are we gonna get the picture if there’s no light?” Kid whispered to you. Like hell you know. You were just wondering the same thing. “Kid, stop breathing down my neck.” Ace shoved you to the side to get away from the other male. “I’m not.” There was another hot gust of wind that passed between the three of you. There was no way it was Kid this time. There was something big behind you. Its eyes glowed red, much higher than you thought this room could hold. It must be bigger than the ones they lent you guys for the night. It menacing stare followed every move you made. He could see you in the swallowing darkness of the room. This wasn’t good. You had to get out. “GO BACK!” Ace shouted, racing to the door himself.
“What was that?” you blinked letting your eyes adjust to your new sight. “I think it was Chopper, Sabo’s pet and one of the monsters that guard the nine circles.”
“What was he doing in there?”
“Like I would know.”
“Where are we…?” The walls were familiar… Were you back in the labyrinth? “Sabo must have charmed the door, we’re underground again.” There was a rustling from behind you. “Does that mean we’re back with…Nola…” Already knowing what was behind you, all three of you ran. You needed to buy yourself time to think of a plan. What can you do? Nami! She lent you some of her power. “Stop! I know what to do. Nami lent me some of her power earlier, I can summon the one she has a pact with. Sanji will charm the snake and we’ll get out.” turning the corner you let the serpent rush by in a close call. You had little time to call on the demon before Nola circled around you and killed all of you. “Sanji, come to me….please.”
“Real convincing.”
“You try summoning someone when you never had powers in your life.”
“Don’t you remember how Nami did it.”
“He was already with us then!”
In a burst of smoke, he appeared. Stopping Ace and you from continuing to argue. “Who summons me this late at night? You better have a good excuse- Oh hello, sweet-cheeks. I thought you were my master. How’d you summ-”
“No time! Charm the snake!” You needed to say the spell Nami had chanted before to create a link between the both of you, but you didn’t think you would need it so you didn’t bother to remember it. “I don’t know the spell Nami used, just transform!” You yelled at Sanji, hoping that by some miracle you could actually get it to work. “Do you actually think th-” A burst of power interrupted Ace’s rant. It had a more overpowering feeling to it. The power you pulled of him was stronger than what Nami was able to take out. Sanji moaned, reveling in the power you gave him. He hasn’t felt so much power in such a long time. “Baby doll, we’re having fun after this,” Sanji stated before flying off to find the serpent’s head. “Like hell you are.” Kid pulled you into himself, not wanting Sanji to get his grubby hands on you. “Protective of your master, are we?” Ace’s teasing tone set off Kid. Yelling that it was nothing like that and that he would never have feelings for a weak human, much less one who held a pact with him. Has he had bad encounters with other people that have pacts with him?
Sanji came back, Nola following close by. He scooped you up, giving you a ride tot he top of Nola. “Come on, we don’t have all night!” Kid was furious. How dare he touch you. It was just the pact he had with you that made him act this way. He wasn’t jealous nor did he care for how you seemed to blush when Sanji placed you between his legs to ‘make sure you didn’t fall off’. Kid was just cranky because his plan didn’t go as planned and he couldn’t make bank on a picture of his brother sleeping. That’s all!
Back in your room, Kid refused to leave. He wasn’t gonna leave you alone with that guy! He was already giving you bedroom eyes! “Y/n look into my eyes.” He ordered and you obliged. Why would you do that, you dumb-ass. “Y/N, don’t!”
Nothing happened… Was something supposed to happen? “That’s strange. Once you looked into my eyes you should have fallen under my spell. “ Sanji scooted closer in your bed, Lips barely touching your ear, “All mine. Let’s try again.” Was that really his plan? “Get off my bed. Let me sleep.” Ace threw a pillow at you two from his bed. “Shut up I’m trying to sleep. I was chased by a snake twice today!”
“Newsflash, everyone did.” Kid crawled onto your bed from the other side, effectively trapping you from each side. “I’m not leaving if you’re gonna be staying in the same room as him.” Sanji awed at his brother’s cuteness, “I wanted our first time to be by ourselves, but how can I resist such an adorable display!” Sanji cooed at Kid while a blush blossomed on his face, “Shut up! We’re not doing anything like that!”
“Maybe not, but I do want something to come out of tonight,” He gently grabbed your face, turning you to look at him. His hands were warm on your skin, fitting so nicely on the curve of your jaw. Eyes locking with yours, complete seriousness befalling his lustrous gaze. It was intimate. “I want you to make a pact with me.”
“O-okay…” Sanji chuckled at your tongue-tied speech. Who could blame you, though. You hadn’t expected this. You’d jumped through botched hoops to make pacts with the other brothers. Most of the time it wasn’t the best circumstances that made them want to do it either. You’d plundered in their affairs and reaped more than you’ve sowed. for him to just asked you, it was miraculous. “I-i don’t know what to say. T-thank you.”
Kid huffed at your keenness to make the pact. Wrapping a protective arm around your waist he pulled you down to lay next to him. He didn’t like that you kept making pacts with his brothers, but he couldn’t stop you. He wasn’t your - well anything, other than a demon you made a pact with. It was common for witches to have many pacts with different demons, though it bothered him nonetheless. Probably just as much as having Sanji settled down with the both of you, burying his head underneath your chin. It’ll be a long night, at least for him. He had to keep Sanji’s grubby hands off of you after all.

WARNING:  Read @ Your Own Risk
A/N: (Nhaks lakas maka-A/N HAHA!) Finally able to post this. Yeah, it took longer than expected, but here it is and so please do enjoy!
Also, just keep in mind that English is not my native language so there might be some spelling and grammar error. Sorry for my lack of talent and I promise to work hard on this. Thank you and please enjoy. Any feedback is well loved. <3
"Are you sure you'll be fine here?"
"Of course! I'm not a child Y/N." He answered while his busy setting up his laptop on the desk in your room.
He looked at you when you just quietly watching him.
"What? I know I'm handsome but I think you should be somewhere else right now?" You just laugh. "You know Y/N, as much as I want you to just stand there and watch me all day -"
"Ugh! I can't! We have a meeting first thing today."
"That's what you keep saying, but why you're just standing there? You said you'll be late awhile ago."
You checked your wristwatch and saw that you only have 15 minutes left before your scheduled meeting with your Bosses.
"Shoot! I need to go." You panicked and looked around for your backpack. Yes, backpack not some handbag or shoulder bag that usually office lady have.
"That's what you said 30 minutes ago baby Y/N." He laughs.
But you froze. It's not because you felt delighted about his laugh. It was because of the pet name he called you.
You looked at him. 'What happened to 'Love'?'
"Baby? Baby your face. Call me that one more time and you are out of my house."
"Oh!.." He said surprised on what you said. "Why? Too cheesy for you to handle? It's not as if that's how your ex called each other."
"No. It's not cheesy, more like corny." You said while you double check your bag.
  "Whatever you romance killer."
"I'm going. If you need anything just call me using the phone in the living room since you can't use your mobile internationally."
He leaves what he was doing and walked you on the way to the door.
You sit down to put your shoes on. And he watched you carefully, thinking that him staying there at your place is not so bad after all.
"There's some food left in the fridge and some numbers of my fave takeout. My address is already registered once you called using my telephone, so you'll just need to confirm it. And by that, I already put notes of my exact Address just in case."
You are done putting your shoes on. And stand up to face the man who you're not so sure if he is man enough when you leave him alone in your apartment.
He is your responsibility. So as much as possible you want to stick around and work at home. But you have a meeting that's been scheduled ahead so you can't let Jamie seat in for you.
"Are you listening Yu?" You gave him the knowing look because he still doesn't respond and he totally looked like in the middle of daydreaming.
Tumblr media
"Yah!" He reacted when you kicked him in his knee.
"That's what you get when you are ignoring me." You stick out your tongue at him, not sorry for him at all.
"I heard you. Don't worry. As if I've never been alone in an apartment Y/N. What do you take me for, a kid?"
"To be honest? Yeah. So do me a favor, and don’t burn my apartment down. Call me if you need anything at all. Okay?"
"Ara - Arasseo!" He comes closer. You thought he will hug or kiss you, so you stand still and closed your eyes.
"What are you doing? Is something wrong?"
You open your eyes. And you saw a worried face of Christian.
"Nothing." You turn around immediately. You feel that your face is all red because of the embarrassment. 'Assume much Y/N?'
You didn't know that Christian knew what you are waiting for, but decide he played you a bit because for him you are the cutest and it's his for you to miss him even more.
"You sure? I thought you're sick or something because you turned red all of a sudden."
"Whatever! Bye!" You opened the door and about to step out when Christian holds you in your arm.
"Not so fast there Love. You're not going anywhere without the proper way." He smirked and leaned closer.
Afraid to make yourself embarrassed again, you let your eyes wide open. And oh, you shouldn't have and just closed it when you have got the chance.
He kissed you on your forehead, on the tip of your nose and finally his lips settled in yours.
It's a light kiss. That you wished it would last longer.
"That's how it should be Love. So see yeah later, Love. Now go!" And he pushed you off your apartment. And he smiled at you while he closed the door in your face.
When you realized what just happen, you about to rant the door. But your mobile rang.
You pulled it inside your bag pocket. And saw Jamie is calling you.
You gave the peephole of your apartment a dead gaze thinking that Christian is watching you there. But then you slide to answer Jamie’s call while you headed towards the elevator.
"Oh, I'm already on my way. Could you stall them for 15 minutes more?"
"Sure. No problem to that since they're still not in the building as well."
"Well, that's odd. Did you asked for follow-up?"
"I did, and they confirmed that the meeting will proceed as scheduled."
"Ah, okay then. Maybe they'll be there once I arrive or else I'm gonna go home immediately."
"Well, I doubt that’s gonna happen, Madam."
  "Why?"
"I called you because Mr. Park is here and waiting in your office."
"What is he doing there? Tell him I can't accommodate him because of the meeting. Tell him it’s gonna be a long one."
When you got in your car, you threw your backpack in the passenger seat.
"I already told him all the possible thing Y/N, he just said that he's willing to wait." She heard you sigh as you tried to drive your car out of the parking of your building. "Didn't he tell you that he is coming?"
"No. I blocked him last night."
"Well, great. That explains why he's here early in the morning."
"What do you expect? He keeps on calling me last night. And I am with Christian. Haaaish!"
Jamie murmurs something but you lost interest to ask her what is it.
"Just let him wait. I'll be there in a while anyway."
  "Okay, Madam."
  And you ended the call.
"I guess that would be all Gentlemen and Ladies." Said by your Big Boss. "So Ms. Y/L/N, when are you gonna tell us about the big news?"
You stop gathering the file of papers in front of you to look at him since you notice the stares of the people inside the conference room.
"I mean, we heard that you're engaged or getting engaged? Is it not?" He asked when he saw the confused look in your face.
'Could it be Jamie? Nah ~'
Then your eyes landed to the lady next to him. Joy.
And as if she felt your dead stare, she just smiles as if she didn't know anything.
  'Imma kill her one time.'
"Ms. Y/L/N?" Your boss called you again.
"Yes-?" You responded surprised. But he takes that 'yes' as yes in his question.
"So, is he that gentleman waiting in your office at this moment?" He asked while giving you that teasing look. "I heard that he is big in the entertainment industry. Is that true? Is that why you want to quit your job here to be with him?"
This is why you called this company as shitty shit. The company is so well off and stable that there’s no more trill. So, the people have this tendency to gossip at each other nonstop.
And the worst part is that your Boss, instead of putting an end to this kind of entertainment he enjoys it. And he fished for more. Just for that showbiz like a parade.
"Well," You lost your words. It was like your brain stop functioning and can't find the right words to disagree and argue that what he said is all wrong.
The other people inside the conference room didn't wait for you to answer. They gather up around you and saying there congratulators and shaking your hand.
You smiled. Confuse is written all over your face.
Before you enter your office, Jamie gave you that teasing smile.
And you can't react because your damn Boss decided to tag himself with you to great your 'Husband-to-Be'.
So you just move your lips trying to say without a sound the words "You're dead!" and she gets it since she looked away.
The moment you open the door to enter your office, his ever manly scent welcomed you.
Nothing to complain though, it smells good and all suited for Jay Park. But the thing is, besides the fact that it can make you smell like one.
You knew well that he uses the same perfume even before. Burberry Weekend. And it just brings you memories that way berried.
Tumblr media
You saw him seating in front of your table.
He stands up when he saw you, and by the looks of his face, irritations are written all over.
In your mind, you want to smile just to tease him even more. Because you knew he will be mad, because you not only blocked him all night, you made him wait for almost 3 hours in your office.
Since you asked Jamie to bring your stuff needed for the meeting in the conference, so you don't need to see him first thing in the morning.
  'Serves you right dutch Park.'
He's about to say something crazy but paused when he saw a big man followed you. Your damn Big Boss.
So he just stands there and waits for you to come near him.
And the moment you’re in his reach, he does his move that you didn't expect.
He leans at you for a half embrace and a peck in your chick. 'Oh yea, you forgot that he is Jay Park. The king of suave moves.'
After that, you smiled awkwardly. You didn't expect him to do that. You brought back from your senses when your Boss cleared his throat.
"Oh right, Jay this is the COO of our company. Sir, he is Jay Park my fr-" You failed to say the word FRIEND when your boss cut you off.
"Your fiancé. We know. And I want to welcome you in our humble layer, Mr. Park." He offered his hand for a handshake that Jay warmly accepts. Showing his million dollar smile.
You rolled your eyes. You can't believe that your boss cut you off when you had a chance to correct everything that he thought about you and Jay.
Jay just accepts it. And if you correct it again, what mess are you making Y/N?
"Pleasure to finally meet you, Sir," Jay said.
"The pleasure is all mine. Let's sit." As your boss lead the way to your couch on the edge side of your office. "Jamie, be a good girl and make us a cup of coffee?" He asked Jay, and he totally ignores your presence.
"Hmm, Sir?" You tried to caught his attention because you just stand there not believing on what’s happening.
"What are you doing there Y/N?"
'Ah, so it's now on the first name basis Sir?'
"Sit beside him. Let's chat a little. I really want to know the story of you both." And he looked at Jay and totally ignoring you.
You looked at Jay, and you can see that he is enjoying the attention.
"I still can't believe that someone can really tame Y/N here." Your boss laughs, Jay laugh and you rolled your eyes.
It's almost 15 minutes pass and your Boss throw all this question, knowing Jay's background, work and something more like where did you two meet and know each other.
You are not sure what to say, but Jay answers it all like it was nothing. Though his answer is mostly based on the past. Making it seems that you've been in a relationship for almost 7 years and just decided that its time to tie the knot.
Now that you notice it, you are somewhat in kind of showbiz or variety show with all the question your boss is throwing. No wonder Jay is like a pro with this.
"Actually Sir," Jay is saying something but you cut him off to make them notice you. And now both of them are looking at you.
Jay shifted his body to looked at you properly even though he is just seating at your right side and in the same couch while your boss is at the single one.
  You clear your throat.
"Jay and I are not engaged, so it would be best if this issue or news would not go around the company." After saying that in one blow, you release a sigh of relieve.
"What are you saying Y/N?" Your boss is now confused and looking at you and Jay.
You are thinking of what to say next when Jay beat you again.
"Y/N is right sir. This issue is not good if being spread all around especially here in her workplace."
You can't believe that you and Jay are on the same page for the first time. So you just nod when he looked at you waiting for your reaction.
'I guess he is not that hopeless after all.'
"Since that nothing is been published yet. I mean, Y/N and I still need to keep this as a secret to protect her from harmful rumors. You may know my line of work is unpredictable that I really want to protect Y/Ns privacy as much as possible. That’s until we can publish this in the right time and way."
He is still looking at your boss may be reading his reaction. But he moves his left hand and put it on your right thigh and press it a little.
You knew what he was trying to say. He wants you to shut up and let him handle this.
Now you take all you thought back. This man is hopeless.
"I understand." Your boss finally answered. "Don't worry, the management will deal with this. Since we are all professional here."
'Yea right,' You wanted to say but you just rolled your eyes.
"That would be appreciated, Sir," Jay said with a light bow gesture.
"Well, I won't keep both of you any longer since it looks like you two need to discuss something." Your boss stands up and fixes his suit.
Jay followed and you as well, even though you're still in a blank.
"No worries Sir, anytime. It's really a pleasure to talk to you." And he handed his hand for a shake. And your boss willingly accepts it.
"Y/N, since the meeting is done and the plan is still in the process, you can take your half day. So that you and Mr. Park here can have time privately." He leaves without waiting for your response.
And in just that, you are now alone with Jay.
Being alone that you and Christian are trying to avoid.
You're brought back to your senses when you heard a knock on your door, it was Jamie.
And you find Jay sitting in the seat on the front side of your table.
You signal Jamie to come in, as you walk to be seated in your chair.
"Oppa, I assumed you already knew my assistant Jamie Smith. Jamie, Jay."
Jay stands up to offer a handshake and Jamie accept it with all smiles she can offer. And you knew with that smile, she is giggling inside her mind.
"Just Jamie, Jay?" Jay said. And you looked at him.
  "What?"
"Nothing, I thought fiancé is already next to my name whenever you introduce me. Like earlier." He is teasing you. It’s all over his face.
But you knew better than to argue with his 4-year-old mentality. So you ignore his existence and focus to Jamie.
"What is that?" You asked her as she is holding a few folders.
"It's the minutes for your meeting and some papers need to sign to resume the process of the new theme that been discuss inside." She said while she handed you the folders.
You notice that she can't keep her eye at you when she is standing in front of Jay who is busy on his phone to even give a care for her.
"Is that all?" You asked her, somewhat irritated on the way she is acting
"Yes, Madam. After that, the boss said you are clear to go."
"Fuck!" You blurred out that Jamie and Jay got surprised. It was too much, you hate the idea that your boss is treating you differently because of Jay. Well, that’s how you see it.
"Hey baby girl, language?" He said, eyeing you that you’re not alone and he doesn't really mind but since Jamie is there so he is embarrassed for you?
"Shut up." You said as you side-eyed him.
Jamie walked out and make sure to shut the door because she can sense that a storm is about to hit your office.
"What?" Jay looked at the door making sure it was close. "What's up with you Y/N? I know that you blocked my number and I don't know why. And now you're acting like a bitch."
You tried your best to ignore his mere existence and the fact that he said the B word at you.
"Whatever. I will wait for you till you finish that and so we can talk." He surrenders.
  "Talk."
  "What?"
"I said talk. If you have something to talk about then tell me, here." You said without looking at him.
Jay can sense that arguing with you will lead him to no good. He just sighs and just goes with it.
  "Why did you blocked me?"
"Why are you calling me?" You said without looking at him.
You didn't see how his eyebrow raised, 'Oh is this a Q2Q game.' He thought.
"Where are you when you answered my call yesterday?"
  "Why you want to know?"
"Who is that guy you're with?"
You paused in signing the papers and looked at him.
"I'm not deaf Y/N, even in that short time I heard. And it's a damn man's laugh. Who was it?"
  "Why do you care?"
  He sighs.
"Does your father know who he was then?"
"Why should he?" You return your focus on signing the papers.
"Then that leads me to just ask him myself, right?"
And like every time, he wins.
"What do you want Park? I mean, seriously what are you getting out of all of this fucked up mess? Money? Fame? Does what you have now still isn't enough?"
You said while setting the papers aside and just holding your sign pen as if your life hold in it.
Jay tried to hide the fact that what you said to him hurt him like you just stab him in his chest.
"Is that what you really think of me Y/N? Is it that hard to accept that maybe," he leans his both arms in your table to face you properly. "Maybe that after all these years I am still in love with you?"
"Don't play with me Park. We both know that that's not what this is." You lean your back in your seat because you can't handle how close Jay looked at you. "What we had was all in the past, it ended 7 years ago. So let it be."
"You're right that what we had is all in the past now, but we both know that it didn't end like what you are saying here Y/N."
"Oppa.. it's old history." You closed your eyes and massage your temple. "There's no need to bring the past now." You looked at him, "What I want to know is why did you agree to my father’s terms? I want to know so I can really understand you. Because if this shit continues, I am sorry Jay but I will really start hating you."
It's his turn to lean back.
He was looking at the ceiling as if he was searching what he will say there.
That gives you time to study him.
He looked as if he didn't age a bit. He still looked the same. Though somehow he is much thinner than the fluffy yet masculine Jay you knew before.  He really matured, and he matured in a really damn fine way.
And the fact that his height hasn't changed as well, your height is the same so you didn’t care, but compared to someone you know.. he defined as 'Tiny'.
  "I'm hungry."
"Huh?" You got confused because you didn't expect him to say that.
  "I said, I AM HUNGRY."
"Haaaaish!" You side eyed him and just continue reading the papers you set aside.
"I will tell you everything," He caught your attention again.
"Over brunch." Then he showed you his pure million dollar smile with matching puppy eyes?
You almost cursed when he still remembers your weakness.
"Seriously Jay? Now?" You gesture him that you are working. "You can just go and come back once you're done."
"No way. I can tell that if I do that, you'll not be here when I come back."
You didn't respond because he was right.
"Just sign that damn papers and let's go." He said as he took out his mobile again.
"And who said I'll go eat with you?"
"Damn woman, can't you get it that I'm hungry and don't worry I'll be paying so just finish that shit and let's get going." He saw that you didn't like how he talked to you. "Please?" And he was saved by his puppy eyes again.
"If you want me to finish quickly, then stop barking all the time."
He is about to say something, but he holds it in because he was really hungry to argue more.
What you didn't knew was that he hasn't eaten anything since last night. And he is really pissed at you and about to question you first thing you enter to your office.
But seeing you in one piece and fine, he forgets all that.
In the end, you agree to come with Jay to eat somewhere. Since he promised that he will tell you everything you wanted to know.
"Jamie, I'll be back after he fills himself. Try to finish everything before I came back. You need to accompany me somewhere." You're not looking at her since you’re looking for your phone in your bag.
"Okay Madam." She said while looking at Jay behind you.
Jay was holding a phone that she knew was yours. She tried to poke you to get your attention. Because Jay is currently scrolling thru your notifications.
"What?" You asked Jamie irritated. And he points Jay that still busy checking your phone.
Your eyes almost pop out when you realize he has your phone. You immediately grab it from him. You will say something when you check first on what he saw in your notifications.
It was messages from Christian, Dabin and Cream. But mostly it was from Christian. Even though his name in your contacts was Barom, you knew Jay wasn't a fool to not figure it out.
You looked at him. Don't know what to say.
"I guess I am not the only one who needs to tell everything here baby girl." He smirked and walks ahead of you.
Both of you settled to eat in a restaurant near your office, and since it was almost lunchtime, the place is packed. The only vacant table was outside of the said restaurant.
Jay didn't want the idea of seeing in a public place with you, but something pops up in his head so he just goes along.
For you, it was troublesome if both of you went far since you need to come back in your office for Jamie.
As the both of you waiting for your orders to arrive. You busy yourself on checking your phone.
You already message Christian that you will talk to Jay so that all of you can talk. But you didn't mention that you are with him already.
Jay looked at you. He took out his phone and message someone. And he can't believe that he will do such measure just to have you.
  "So, who is this Barom?"
He said, interrupting you when you are about to reply for Christian who informs you that he mistook your garlic powder as brown sugar that he put in his coffee.
You didn't know how to respond. You knew the fact that Jay already crossed works with Christian as DPR Visuals and CEO.
"Barom...well, I only knew one Dabin and assumingly Cream is one of the producers from DPR. So that gives," You swallow hard because he is damn right.
"Yea," You cut him off, "Barom is the DPR Visuals and CEO, Christian Yu." You looked at him to see how he will react.
But he just nodded continuously while his lips turned in one line.
By that, you knew he wants to say something more but he is holding it in.
"Okay. Before I asked anything else, let's go to the main reason first."
You've been taken aback from how Jay response, so for once you agreed to him.
"Why did I agreed to your father is your question right?"
You nod, but somehow you felt uncomfortable because on how he looks at you as if it wasn't the same Jay you're with a while ago. He feels like someone you never knew in the body of Jay. But you tried to ignore that.
"Don't get me wrong Y/N, but your father offered me things that hard to refuse. Being the owner of a real-estate and hotel mogul - business, connections and all is just a piece of cake for him. But still, believe me, or not. I refuse his offers. More than once." You just looked at him.
"But shit happens Y/N. It was unexpected." He said breaking the eye contact you have while he was talking.
"Why? What happen?" You asked him as you lean in the table. Curiosity took over you.
He tightens his hold in his cap, then put both his arms in the table.
"How can I put this so that you can understand it." He seems troubled. And it made you too worried.
"Just tell me, trust me." You assured him as you hold his one hand.
"You see, you know about my new record label right?"
"Yeah, H1HGRMUSIC right.." And he nods.
"The thing was, in the different company. I had one person who manages and advised on everything financially. He was good at what he does. But what I don't understand is that a few months after me and Chase deposit our additional investment for H1HGRMUSIC account. He just disappeared, along with all the money deposit in both company." You felt that his hand squeezed yours.
You don't know what to say because that news surprised you. You never knew such things do happens and with Jay.
"Both companies are struggling Y/N. We tried to fix this shit internally. Since AOMG is known, all we need to do is make our artist sign more offers and shit. But still, it wasn't enough. And H1HGRMUSIC is in way worst condition. Since we need to release their albums before the end of the year."
"I understand." He didn't need to continue. You know how hard it was for him. And it was wrong to question him any longer.
"Believe it or not Y/N, I am still the same Jay you knew 7 years ago. The same Jay that drives to work hard not for myself but for the people around me who needs me. And believe me, as the day pass by, it has grown bigger. So I just can't."
"Sssssh.." You hushed him. Because if he continues, you can't handle a teary Jay since you're already holding your own tears not to fall.
"So, how much did my old man offered you?" You asked, trying to lighten the atmosphere between you.
"I only want what I needed to keep my two company running, but your old man gave me more than that." Jay looked at you in the eye. "He said that he was just investing for her daughter, YOUR future and it was not a debt that needed to be paid since I'm gonna be your husband and what I own will be yours as well."
"I still have an iffy feeling about the whole idea, because I accept his offer without even knowing who his daughter was."
"What? You are saying that you didn't know that I was his daughter?"
"Yes, whoever it was, I accepted the fact that I have to do it. So when your old man asked me to come here in Dubai to finally put things in action. And when he showed me your picture before we went to your office the other day. I don't know if it’s wrong for me to feel or even say this but I was relief Y/N. Relief, happy and there's even a time that I thank God that he let shit happens just to lead me to you."
Jay looked at you in the eyes deeply, as if he is trying to see what you're thinking. So you closed your eyes afraid of what he might see. By that, a tear escape from your eyes.
You opened your eyes when you felt his warm hands touch your cheeks to wipe the trail of the tear.
You just watch him you tried to blinked your eyes just to make you see clearer or more likely bring your brain working again.
And the next thing you knew is Jay holding both of your hands and he was about to kiss the back of your hands.
Everything around you was turned to a slow-motion mode. And by that, your mind is saying to you to pull your hands before his lips landed on them.
But your damn body is taking its time to move accordingly. And you felt that your heart is going to explode in the anticipating on what about to happen.
And just like that, you closed your eyes and when you open everything went back to normal and Jay already kissed the back of your hand and now sincerely looking to your eyes.
You've just betrayed by your own body and feelings. And what's worst is the fact that somehow you knew you betrayed Christian.
Jay let go of your hands when the waiter arrived to serve your lunch.
You busied yourself in it. Trying to forget what just happened.
Jay knew what you are doing so he shrugged it but the smirked in his face never disappear.
When the waiter leaves. Jay caught your attention by clearing his throat. So you looked at him while you set the table napkin to your lap.
"So, before I continue on talking about my shit. I want to know who is Christian to you." And he looked away to start eating what's on his plate.
You inhaled and tried to relax. You tilted your head to the side when you questioned yourself on why are you getting nervous all of a sudden.
"Well," You start as you focused on your food. "I met him during my college community tour for the homeless in Seoul. His agency is part of that community service as well. We stayed connected since then."
"Lucky guy." You looked at him. "Well, it’s true. He was lucky to have that consistent connection with you. For me though, I don't have such luck."
He brought the past again. You just shooked your head and ignore what he said.
"So, he's just a friend?" Jay asked.
  "No. He's currently my boyfriend."
  "Since when?"
"Seriously? Why do you care." Inside you don't want him to know that your relationship with Christian has been clear just yesterday.
"Don't give me that look, Babe, I just want to know where I stand here. I bet your father didn't know about your relationship with him. Cause if he does, I wouldn't be here having dates with you."
"What date?" You're surprised that Jay just declares this as a date with him. But as you looked at him, he just shrugged. "Haaaish. You are right. I didn't formally introduce Christian to them. That's because he's been busy with his work. But now that he's here and have some time to spare, I will introduce him."
"Really now, did you think of how your father will react to this?"
"I don't know. Do I look like I care?" You tried your best to looked according to what you are saying for him to believe you.
"Well, I do." He said it with authority that you can't help but look at him.
You see him all serious. Looking at you that like you just said some bad joke.
"I thought you understand why I agreed to your father Y/N. I was wrong to even believe that you can really get what I was trying to say for you to understand me from the beginning. I thought you are better than this Y/N."
  "I am."
You thought to really introduce Christian to your parents. Even though the feelings you have for Christian is all new, and if that is even enough of a reason for you to marry him then you will accept it.
Rather than to be with someone who's someone your father is set up with you by money.
Jay shooked his head with disbelief.
"Look, Oppa, I really do. You need the money. That is why we're here in the first place. All we need to do now is look for the money you need for your company. So you would not have any obligation to my father." You said as if it was easy than one plus one.
"Okay, let’s go with what you’re saying here." Jay continues eating, "Yes, I am rather being force than obligated with this shit." You felt some kind of a pain in your chest when you heard him say that.
"And yes money is the main factor here, money that I don't have but your father have and already provided me a long time ago." He stops eating to look at you seriously. "Meaning, I already used the money Y/N. What's left is just the quarter of it."
"How much are we talking about here?" You asked. But you sooner to regret.
"He gave me one billion fucking US dollars."
You drop the spoon you're holding and your mouth wide open. You can't even believe that your father is ready to release such big amount of money just to give it to the man he chooses to be your handsome.
'Oh wait, business this is all about. You thought. No wonder. Money and you are just an investment for him.
"And you only have now is just the quarter?"
  Jay didn't answer.
  "Fuck Jay, that's a lot."
"What do you expect? I have two companies that need to keep running."
You drank in one shot the glass of wine that the waiter made sure that was full.
"Give me a year and so." He said all of a sudden.
"What?" Still, drown with the wine you drink, you face Jay with a total of confusion.
"Let’s get married for just a year. By then, I'm sure I have the money to pay your Dad."
He said it while looking at you. And you can read in his eyes that he is begging for you to agree with him. He is asking your help, not for him but for his company and for the people whose relying on it.
This is too much for you. The effect of the wine and the hot temperature in Dubai is not helping at all.
"To tell you honestly Oppa, I am willing to give you all the help you need. But I am with Christian now. And I can't really say anything about this without him." You manage to say.
"Do you really want to help me Y/N?" Again with that eyes of him.
"Of course Oppa." You said with all honesty.
"Then I'm sure Christian will understand. That is if what the both you have is real." He said as if it’s a given fact.
You failed to say anything and just watched him finish his meal.
You poured more wine into your glass. And drink it bottomless. Hoping that all the thoughts running in your head will be washed along with it.

Come Dance With Me - Janstar Fanfiction
Summary - So this kind of takes place in the episode Bon Bon the Birthday Clown. But likes, there is no seance, Star already has a flaming crush on Marco, and Jackie never asked him to the dance. So Star and Marco are going together but not in a romantic way. Authors Notes - Based off the song I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance (With You) by Black Kids. I didn't use the original song though, I used a more electronic one because I just like it better. Strong language. Word Count - 2191 _____/-----\_____ "I don't know what to do, Janna! Marco is the one who's afraid of going to dances, not me! Why am I so nervous?!" Star walked down the halls with Janna, yelling quietly enough for no one else to hear the conversation, but loud enough to blow the bluenette's eardrums out. "Woah Star, just chill." Janna put her hands on Star shoulders and turned the blonde to face her. "It's okay." Janna told her friend. "No it most definitely not! How do I even talk to him!?" Star pushed Janna's hands and away started walking again. "Just talk to him like you normally do, jeez. It's not like this is a date... is it?" Janna answered. Was it a date? Janna hoped not, otherwise the heart she didn't have would start breaking. Like, Janna already knew Star had a crush on Marco, but going on a date with him would really start Janna's gay grieving process. "No it's not a date. We're just going as friends," Phew, "but it still feels weird." Star told Janna. They stopped at the blonde's locker. "Well, maybe instead of talking you two could dance?" Janna suggested, it was risk. This would end with Star dancing with Marco, but if she played her cards right she could get her way. "I could teach you! I am captain of a secret dance club." Janna informed Star, and watched as the girl opened her locker. Star turned to face her friend. "YOU'RE CAPTAIN OF A SECRET DANCE CL-" Star squealed before Janna covered her mouth. "Star! Shush, some one could hear!" Janna whispered, looking around to see if anyone was listening. "Janna that's so cute!" Star squealed again, but lowered it down to a whisper. Janna blushed at Star's comment, taken off guard. "Uh, yea, uh anyways, I could teach you." Janna said trying to regain her cool and not focus on Star's smile too much. "Oh no, I know how to dance, Marco probably doesn't though." Star waved her hand and exchanged the books in her arms for the other books hiding in her locker. Janna frowned for a split second. There is no way in hell she is teaching Marco how to dance with Star. "Didn't he dance with you at that Blood Moon Ball thing?" Janna recalled. "It's different." Star remarked. "Ugh." Janna sighed she put her back against the lockers and slid down until she sat on the ground. Star noticed her friends distress and mimicked her actions. "I know you don't want to teach Marco, of all people, how to dance, but could you? Pleaase." Star begged. Janna turned her head. "For meeeee." Star begged harder. "Yeah, fine. Whatever." Janna threw her hands in the air and stood up. Star followed and hugged her. "Thank you so much Janna!" Janna hugged back. "You'll only have to do it once! Just come to Marco's house before the dance." Star told her friend. "Okay." Janna said before Star walked away (not without waving goodbye). "See you later Janna Banana!" The blonde shouted down the hall. Janna smiled and waved back. When Star turned around Janna sighed and frowned for the third time. "I guess I'm going to return that outfit. I'm not going to a dance anymore." _____/-----\_____ "Uh, like this?" Marco shuffled his feet as Janna instructed him. "Yeah, I guess." Janna said pretty saltily, crossing her arms. "What is your problem!?" Marco yelled, making Janna flinched back. "I have been doing everything you told me today! I did the splits! In this suit!" Marco gestured to his pants. "I don't have a problem!" Janna yelled back, standing up. It was Marco's turn to flinch. The pair yelled at each other until they heard footsteps coming towards the room they resided in. They both joined hands quickly and pretended to dance before the door was opened. "Heyyyy guys!" Star said appearing in the doorway. "How do I look?" Marco and Janna stopped pretending to dance and faced Star. "You look great, Star!" Marco told her. Star was wearing a dark purple, backless dress, that poofed out ever so slightly and went to down to just above her ankles. Her hair was put into two buns on top of her head, like Princess Beia from Sun Battles. Some of her hair fell in front of her ears, like little vines that Janna could jump on to look into Star's eyes forever, in a non creepy way of course. "You look really pretty." Janna said without thinking, still staring. "What?" Star asked. "I said you look shitty!" Janna blurted, blushing madly. "But like not shitty like ew gross, like a uh wow you look like the shit. So like you look like the shitty?" Janna tried to recover from her comment saying everything that came to her mind awkwardly. 'what tf janna???? shitty? ¿SHITTY?' The girl thought, she was screaming on the inside. "Oh. Thanks then?" Star said. "Are you ready Marco?" Star asked. "Yup, are you sure you don't want to come Janna?" Marco asked Janna. "Yeah, I'm sure." "Alrighty then. We're just gonna get going. Bye!" Marco walked out with Star and shut the door. "Bye." Janna sighed, she plopped onto the bed and put her hands in her head. The door opened again and Janna looked up. Marco popped his head out from behind the door to look at her. "This is my room, get out." _____/-----\_____ "Are you having fun?!" Marco asked Star. "Yeah I am! Do you know when the dance is over, though? My feet are starting to get tired from all the crazy partying." Star asked. Marco pulled his phone from out of his pocket and turned it on. "It should be over soon. Hey can you get me some punch, please? I'm gonna hang with Ferguson and Alfonzo for a while." Marco asked. Star nodded her head and walked to the refreshment table. "Make sure the punch doesn't smell like- I mean uh, make sure it doesn't smell funny." Marco told Star before she walked too far. Star heard and did as he said. Smelt like regular Kola-Aid to her. She got a cup for her and a cup for Marco. She filled up the cups and took a sip from hers. "EVERYONE, IT'S TIME FOR SOME COUPLE DANCES, GRAB A SMOOCH BUDDY AND LET'S GET DANCING!" The DJ (who was also Marco's sensei) announced over the microphone. Star spit back into her cup, and dumped the Kola-Aid from both cups back into the bowl. She ran around the gym trying to find Marco before the dance ended. Unfortunately when she did, he was already dancing...with Jackie. Star smiled, despite the tears brimming her eyes. She didn't run out crying, or throw a tantrum. She just walked out calmly. She kept walking, and walking. Then she started, jogging. Then she ran. She ran as fast as she could. She didn't knoe what she was running from, but at the same time she did. She didn't even know where she running to, just that she was. _____/-----\_____ "If I'm not going to wear this dance then I'm going to wear it to the graveyard." Janna muttered, refrencing to the outfit she bought for the dance. She wore a black, long sleeve, button up shirt, with a white bow tie, and white suspensers. The sleeves were rolled up to just above her elbow. She also donned black slacks, with a old white, leather belt. Janna held a box of practical joke supplies, candles, chalk, and a picture of Bon Bon the Birthday Clown. She was going to have a seánce of she couldn't have a dance. When Janna entered the graveyard she spoke of and looked for Bon Bon's gravestone. As soon as she found it the girl started to set up. She lit the first candle when she heard distant crying. Janna put out the candle and did the number one thing you don't do in graveyards. She walked towards the crying. Janna got closer and closer until she knew the crying was coming from behind the tree. She peeped around it to see the owner of the sobbing. "Star?" She whispered walking next to her friend. Star hugged her knees to her chest and had her face buried in her arms. "Janna?" Star responded pulling her head away from her arms. Janna sat next to the blonde, "What happened?" She asked. Star closed her eyes and cried, hard. The princess clinged to Janna and put her face into the girl's chest "Woah, hey! It's alright, you don't have to talk about it." Janna tried comforting Star by hugging back. Star cried harder and Janna held onto her tighter. She felt that if she let go the blonde would disappear forever. _____/-----\_____ Janna didn't know how long it was when Star stopped crying. A couple seconds, a lot of minutes, an hour. Star's face was still buried in Janna's chest, but she wasn't holding on as tightly. She was sniffling and hiccuping but she wasn't crying. Star shifted, she turned to put her back against the tree, and leaned her head onto Janna's shoulder, and let Janna keep hugging her. "Marco was dancing with Jackie." Star whispered. 'Oh, oh.' Janna didn't know what to say other than 'it's okay' and 'it'll be alright' and in this situation, those are the worst things to say. So she listened. "I can't do magic, I'm bad at school. I broke the wand. The guy I like is probably taken, and everyone who I've ever liked are demons and delinquents." Star ranted. Janna felt her start to cry again. "Star! Hey, it's fine. If Marco can't see how amazing you are then that's his fault." Star smiled softly but it didn't stop her from crying. Janna was going make her stop, she was saying everything. "If it helps I think you pretty great! I really didn't want to teach Marco how to dance," Janna said almost slipping up and saying 'with you' "but I did because I...because you're my best friend. There's two types of people in this world those who dance, and those who don't. You definitely dance but Marco is still figuring out if he does or not. He wasn't very good when I was teaching him anyways. You need someone who dances Star." 'You need me.' Janna thought. "And, yeah, you didn't get to dance with Marco, but that doesn't mean you can't dance at all tonight. Janna risked it again. So what if she saw this in a cartoon once. She was sure it was going to work. "What do you mean?" Star asked, looking to her friend. "Hold on, one second." Janna got up. She turned her phone on and put on a elctronic instrumental song that she was quite fond of (and that happened to play in the cartoon that she got this idea from). Janna turned to face Star. She started blushing so she hid her face with her arm. "So, what I was trying to say was," she reached her hand out to Star, "come dance with me." Janna felt Star grab her hand. She lowered the arm from her face, and they both smiled. Janna pulled Star closer and they conjoined their other hands together and looked in each other's eyes. It wasn't complicated. Janna put her left foot fowards and her right foot back and Star put her left foot back and right foot fowards, they did the same with their arms (not letting go of the other's hand). In fact it was more like jumping. Janna looked up from her feet and Star did the same. Janna smiled before twirling Star. The princess giggled and Janna giggled back. Janna let go of their hands and they both did their own silly dances, laughing with each other. They both ran around each other like kids, until Janna bumped into her friend. The bluenette started falling, but Star caught her. Her arms around Janna's back, she looked into the Philippino's eyes and. Janna did the same. The tension broke as they started laughing. Janna put her arms around Star, as the hearts on her cheeks started to glow. Janna decided for the third time that day, to risk it. She put her forehead to Star's, and connected their lips. The best part was when Star kissed back. _____/-----\_____ Authors Notes - The entire ending was just one big Steven Universe reference. I like just completely stole that scene from Alone Together. Alone Together is also the name of the song they dance to (it's background music from Steven Universe so it doesn't have singing). Anyway I actually liked this one. The original title was going to be 'Not Gonna Teach Him' but I like this one better. Bye looossers.

Chapter 5: Operation Firework
"If we pull this plan of yours off kid it's going to be a miracle!" Emma said as she walked with her husband and son to Granny's early Monday morning.
"It's going to be epic! Seriously this is going to be the Fourth of July celebration that goes down in town history!" Henry said getting excited.
"I still feel like someone is going to figure it out before the big reveal." Emma said.
"That's why we changed the name of the operation! To make it less obvious." Henry said.
Over the course of the weekend the three of them had finalized plans for Operation Grand Reveal to tell their family and friends about the baby. Since they had decided they were going to do it during the Fourth of July party they were hosting they had renamed it to Operation Firework, allowing them to talk more openly in public about it and not risk anyone catching on. To set the final part of the plan in action they needed to enlist the help of Granny. They walked into the diner and found her behind the counter serving coffee to her early morning guests.
"Good! Just the people I needed to talk to! I need you to get me a final head count for Saturday by the end of tomorrow so I can make sure I have enough ingredients!"
"We got you covered Granny! We actually came here to ask if you could make one more thing for the party." Emma asked trying to put on her best puppy dog eyes.
"I'm already catering the entire party! What more could you possibly need?" Granny asked throwing her hands up. Emma, Killian, and Henry all exchanged looks as one another and nodded and Henry ran behind the counter and whispered in Granny's ear. Emma didn't hear exactly what he said to her but she saw the old woman's face turn from hard and stubborn to soft and filled with excitement in over the course of thirty seconds followed by a loud "Ahhhh!" as Granny dropped the coffee pot and ran around the counter and pulled Emma and Killian in together for a hug.
"Granny you have to quiet down or people are gonna start to ask questions! The whole point of this is it being a giant reveal! You have to keep it secret! Nobody knows except us four and Ashley. Not even my parents know yet!"
"Alright, alright! I'm just so happy for you guys! You deserve this!"
"So you'll help us with the big announcement?" Killian asked.
"Of course! What do you need me to do?" The three of them sat down at a nearby table and discussed what they wanted Granny to do.
"We'll have you bring it over early, Mom will work some magic on it to make and viola!" Henry said excitedly.
"I can't wait! I just have one favor in return to ask."
"Anything Granny." Emma said as the old woman reached out to grab her hands.
"Many years ago, when it was announced to the entire kingdom that you would be making your grand appearance into the world, I made you something. Your mom even came to me in private and told me your name so I could embroider in on there for you." Granny said.
"My baby blanket." Emma said. She had never realized Granny had been the one who made it for her.
"You still have it?"
"It may still take up residence in my bed from time to time."
"Time to time? More like every night." Killian said, poking fun at his wife.
"Hey, it's all I had to give me any sort of clue as to who I was! It's special to me."
"I know love," Killian said wrapping his arm around his wife. "I was only giving you a hard time."
"Well, I was hoping you would give me the honor of making your baby's blanket." Granny said.
"Granny the honor would be all ours." Emma said hugging the old woman again.
"What honor would be all yours?" Emma jumped as the sound of her mother's voice snuck up behind her. She turned around coming face to face with both her parents.
"Mom….Dad…uhh…" Her eyes moved towards Killian but he looked just as caught of guard as she was.
"I'm trying out a new lasagna recipe and I have asked them to be the first to try it out." Granny said.
"But I love your lasagna! Why would you change it? I demand that this should go to vote at city council!" David said going on a rant to Granny but Snow eyed her daughter suspiciously.
"I didn't know you guys were going to be here this morning, why don't you guys come eat with us." Snow said them. They all turned to go to their usual table and Granny winked at Emma who mouthed thank you back. All throughout breakfast Emma caught her mother giving her side glances. It didn't help matters that when their food arrived Killian's bacon smelled a little too strongly and she had to push him off the bench seat and run to the bathroom.
"What was the doctor's diagnosis again?" Snow asked Emma as they were walking out of the diner to go their separate ways.
"Huh?" Emma asked her mother.
"You know a few weeks back when you went to the doctor because you weren't feeling well. What did he say it was? I'm assuming that's why you ran to the bathroom like a sprinter earlier. The…bug, is still bothering you." Snow said a little more suggestively than Emma would have liked.
"Oh, uh…yea it's still bothering me a bit. He said that it would take a few weeks to get out of my system though." Emma tried to be cool and play it off but she wasn't so certain she hadn't inherited her super power from her mother.
Forty five minutes later, after dropping Henry off at school Emma and Killian sat in the bug doing their morning patrol duties.
"She knows." Emma said.
"Who knows what?" Killian asked.
"My mother. She knows I'm pregnant."
"She doesn't know love."
"Did you see the way she looked at me? And what was with the third degree outside Granny's? She totally knows Killian!"
"Aye she probably suspects that Granny's whole lasagna story was total bullshit but I don't think she heard it and went oh my God you're pregnant!" Killian couldn't help but laugh.
"It's not funny! You don't understand that woman knows all and sees all. I'm surprised we have been able to keep it from her this long. She is catching on that a stomach bug shouldn't last for weeks on end."
"I just can't wait for Saturday. I hate keeping secrets, especially from your parents! Not to mention as fun as they are all these big reveals are extremely tiring. I just want to focus on us and this one." Killian said placing his hand on Emma's stomach. She turned to face him and leaned in for a kiss. They lost track of reality, becoming completely lost in each other when they heard a banging on the outside of the car causing Emma and Killian to jump.
"Hey! The townspeople don't pay you two to sit out here and suck face all day!" David said crossing his arms and giving his best disapproving dad face.
"Dad!" Emma said throwing her head back against the seat. Once they were in the station they went to their separate desks and started working on long over due paperwork. Emma wasn't at her desk thirty minutes when a wave of morning sickness hit her. She sprung from her chair and sprinted for the bathroom.
"Bloody hell. I sure hope this doesn't go on the entire time." Killian said getting up to go comfort her.
"Last the whole time of what? I thought she went to the doctor and he said everything was ok and it was just a bug?"
Fuck. Killian thought to himself. This was the second time today the cat had almost been let out of the bag.
"He said everything was ok but it might take a while to get out of her system. I only meant that I hoped she didn't throw up until it was…out of her system that is." Killian was careful in how he worded his statement so that he wouldn't technically be lying to her father in law. This seemed to appease David and he walked out into the lobby and into the restroom where he found his wife hugging the toilet. He began rubbing her back until she was done.
"It can't be February soon enough! It was never like this with Henry." Emma said reaching up to flush away her breakfast.
"All the books say every pregnancy is different love. I'm sure it will pass soon. If it helps I almost just let it slip to your father why you have seemingly moved your office to the restroom."
"What did you say?"
"Basically what you just said but don't worry I played it off. He seems a bit less suspicious than your mother." Emma threw her arms around her husband and buried her face in his neck.
"Ugh fuck it, want to just post the sonogram picture on Facebook or something?" She asked.
"I was all for that weeks ago!" Killian said kissing her forehead.
"Yea yea I know. It's only a few more days. Let's just hide out like hermits and not talk to anyone until Saturday and everything will be great!"
"I could get behind the idea of being locked up with you until Saturday." Killian said wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"Of could you now?" Emma said running her hands down his torso to tease him.
"What do you say we volunteer for afternoon patrol duty and sneak home for some alone time before Henry gets home?" Killian asked.
"I thought you didn't like lying to my parents?" Emma asked still teasing him with her hands.
"This isn't lying. We can take the long way home and make sure everything is in proper working order. Technically patrolling!" Killian said winking at her.
"Believe me mister, you won't want to take the long way home by this afternoon." Emma said.
When Saturday rolled around Emma felt like a chicken with her head cut off. Between getting everything set up and running in the house every half an hour to throw up she was already exhausted and the party didn't start for another three hours. When Killian and Henry returned from Granny's with the catered food, she was scolded by Killian for doing too much.
"You are to go in the house and relax. It's ninety degrees out here! You need to take it easy!"
"I'm pregnant Killian not broken." Emma argued with him but she could tell the heat was getting to her.
"Inside. Now. The lad and I got this covered. Granny said she would have the cake for the reveal here in an hour so go get the spell ready because we won't have much time before everyone gets here after that." Killian said kissing her cheek. Emma wanted to fight him and prove that pregnancy wasn't a handicap but this time between the heat and the anxiety of what was happening later she couldn't find it within herself to argue.
When Granny showed up with the cake, it took all four of them to get it into the backyard.
"How did you even get this thing in the truck Granny?" Henry asked her.
"I bribed the dwarfs with free lunch."
"You got the spell ready love?" Killian asked.
"I think so. I would have really liked to have had Regina to consult with for something this intricate." She said.
"Why? Do you think you messed it up?"
"I don't think so. I went through it about four times. I got most of the kinks worked out. It's either going to reveal the pregnancy or give everyone duck beaks and raccoon tails." Emma said, raising her hands to perform the spell.
"That's…. encouraging." Hook said.
"If this goes badly, the blame does not get placed on my food!" Granny said.
"Quack, Quack." Henry said as Emma performed the spell.
"Did it work?" Killian asked.
"It won't be set into motion until I perform the last bit of the spell later so I guess we will have to wait and see." Emma said.
"I have faith in you Mom!" Henry said.
"Glad he's got some confidence." Granny said.
Around three in the afternoon guests started showing up and the party was in full swing. It brought a smile to Emma's face to see everyone she cared about in one place, it reminded her of their wedding. Everyone was having a great time, there was music, a slip and slide and sprinkler for the kids, and as usual Granny's food was amazing. The plan was right before dark Operation Firework would be set into motion. It was a challenge to keep some people out of the cake, Leroy namely but so far everything had gone perfectly. Right as the sun was setting Henry called everyone together.
"Hey everyone! It's almost time for cake and fireworks! Come get a good spot!" Once everyone was standing around the cake Emma and Killian walked to the head of the table it was sitting on.
"We wanted to thank everyone for coming! We hope you had a great time and that you will all enjoy the fireworks that should be starting in half an hour or so…" Emma said checking her watch, getting more and more nervous as the moment drew closer.
"Before that though, we have one more treat for you guys!" Killian said wrapping his arm around his wife. Emma waved her hand under the table and the cake came to life. The cake itself was in the shape of a tree and as the spell worked different members from the family started to appear on the branches. Names of everyone in their family tree started to form on the branches in icing. It had taken some research in the library but they had been able to go back several generations. As the names got down to their own everyone started to get excited.
"Look! Even I'm on there!" Zelena yelled seeing her name appear.
"Of course you are! You're my step great aunt?" Emma said causing Killian to laugh at the outrageous connections they all shared. While everyone stood memorized by the enchanted cake Emma reached over and squeezed Killian's hand as the second to last branch was added. It was a branch that added Killian's name to the tree signifying his marriage to Emma. They gave each other sideways glances waiting to moment of truth. Everyone started to clap assuming this meant the show was over and they could dig in but just then one last branch started to form. It came down directly from Emma and Killian's names and the words Baby Jones appeared underneath. Just as everyone started to process the meaning of this the last phase of the spell went into place and on the trunk of the tree the picture they had taken a few weeks back with Ashley appeared, showing the parents to be announcing to Henry that he would be a big brother in February. Once the show was over Emma and Killian looked up at their guests.
"Surprise!" They said together anxiously awaiting everyone's reactions.
"Ahhh!"
"Congrats!"
"YES!"
Were some of the cheers that could be heard as everyone erupted into excitement at the announcement of the newest member of the family.
"I knew it!" Snow said running over to throw her arms around her daughter and pull her in close.
"Why didn't you say anything if you knew?"
"I wasn't one hundred percent but I had my suspicions. I wanted you to come to me in your own time and I'm glad I did this was a great idea! I also want copies of those photos you guys took!"
"Most definitely! We have a whole bunch I'll bring them over and let you show me which ones you want. Dad are you…crying?" Emma asked noticing her father wiping tears from his eyes.
"My baby is having a baby forgive me if I'm a little emotional about it." He said pulling his daughter into his arms and kissing the top of her head. "Congratulations sweetheart!" He said.
"Thanks Dad." Emma said resting her head against his shoulder.
They had barely served everyone a piece of family tree cake when fireworks started shooting off over the bay.
"OOOOOOOs" and "AHHHHHHs" could be heard throughout the crowd. Emma sat down next to her husband on their lawn, surrounded by their family and friends. He wrapped his arm around her and she leaned into him.
"So…Operation Firework a success?" He asked her.
"I would put this down as another successful operation and now everyone knows!" Emma replied.
"Thank the Gods! I can dote on you and touch your belly whenever I want!" Killian said rubbing her still flat stomach.
"Oh those are my favorites!" Emma said excitedly pointing up at a firework that looked like a willow tree as it exploded. Soon her parents, brother, Henry, Regina, Zelena and Robin came to join them and they all watched a spectacular firework show together, talking excitedly of the months to come.

I had an oddly revealing conversation today while standing in line at Walmart.  Someone made a comment about Trump’s infamous impersonation of fruit and I said, “An actual orange could run America better.” The black straight man (this will be relevant later, I promise) behind me snorted and laughed, and that’s how we got to talking. It was a long ass line, and the conversation started with Trump, so of course we did eventually get to racism and homophobia and sexism - Trump’s Three Pillars, if you will.
The man starts talking about the racism he has faced, and my heart went out to him. As a kid, he was forced to watch three teenage asshats absolutely trash his brand new bike that his mother just bought for his birthday while a fourth asshat held him. That was the only example, but I could see it was what affected him the worst. I was enraged, and I told him so. I asked what happened to them and he said, “Nothing, what did you think was going to happen? You whities don’t care.” I opened my mouth to continue to sympathize, but I paused. He pretty much just lumped me in with the bullies that did that to him. I know sometimes people trip up on speaking, I do it ALL the time, so I figured that’s what happened here. I smiled and said, “Well, I hope those fucks get their kneecaps broken at some point.” It’s my usual go-to “insert painful punishment here”, and even after everything that happened I STILL hope they get their kneecaps broken. Several times.
This point he’s enraged, and personally I believe he was probably reliving it. I can’t blame him. It’s no excuse for what came out of his mouth eventually though.
He begins ranting on how every white man, woman, and child deserves ‘it’ (he never did say what ‘it’ was, and I sure af didn’t ask). Then, he blurts out “And people think fucking Indians were oppressed! You stupid fucks don’t know what oppression is.” I let him go on about white people because in that moment I think he needed it. I think he needed to unleash all that pent up anger on a white person that he felt wasn’t going to bite back. I was more than willing to take it, right until he starts going off on Natives. I have no fucking clue where it came from, I was honestly shocked that someone who had faced such hatred could then turn around and do it to someone else.
“We’re not Indians. We’re not from India, Columbus was a dumb fuck - “ He doesn’t let me finish, now going off on how I’m not Native (still caused us Indians) and that I’m just a white bitch. I’ve had it. I hurt for this man, and under the disrespect and anger I was still hurting for this man. I was not going to let this man continue this bullshit, though.
“The only reason I don’t have an ID card was because my FULL BLOODED NATIVE MOTHER moved across the country the second she learned she was going to have me because HER mother was a physically abusive drunk. My mother chose my safety over my Native blood, and I thank her for it every day. My father is a white ginger, I had a 50/50 shot on what I looked like.” The man’s still anger, but he’s at least letting me speak now. I didn’t disappoint.
“Do you know what has been DONE to my mother’s people? Do you know how many have lost everything, including their life? Do they not teach about the Trail of Tears anymore? Do they not teach about how the government fucked over so many tribes by taking their land and relocating them to completely inhabitable plots of shit?” Honestly, this was as far as I wanted to go. End of the day, the man faced a horror that no one should go through. He wanted to continue.
“How is that comparable to what MY people faced? We were SLAVES, at least INDIANS weren’t.”
“THAT’S BECAUSE THE WHITE MAN DIDN’T THINK WE WERE GOOD ENOUGH. THE WHITE MAN WOULD RATHER SCALP US THAN KEEP US, AND LET’S NOT PRETEND THAT US NATIVES DIDN’T GET SCALPED BY BLACK MEN EITHER. YOU CAN LOOK THAT UP. OUR SCALPS WERE WORTH MORE THAN OUR LIVES.” I’m like two steps away from shouting, and by now there’s a line that has formed AROUND us. It’s Walmart, this shit happens every two weeks. No one bats an eye.
He’s quiet, and quiet, and quiet. I start calming down, I’m think this bullshit is over, I can go home and slam back as many teas as I can handle. Nope.
He looks thoughtful for a second, and then “You’re still white.”
I wanted to cry. I try a different approach, because it’s apparent I couldn’t walk away. What would that accomplish for this man? He’d leave still thinking every white doesn’t give a fuck about him, that every white person supports racism, although I think he might feel different about Natives.
“Are you straight, by chance?”
“Yea, why?”
“And you were born with a penis, correct?”
“Um, yea. I don’t - “
“So then, you’re part of my oppression. I’m LGBT, and I have a vagina. You are my oppressor.”
“What?! Lady, I haven’t done shit to you!”
“Exactly. And I haven’t done shit to you, but you lumped me in with the four piss ants that don’t even deserve to breathe the same oxygen as you do. I was ready to cry for you, but all you saw was me as your oppressor. If every white person is a fucking racist, then every straighty is homophobic and every man is sexist. But you’re not, are you?” He’s quiet again, so I lean in enough for him to clue in that I’m waiting for an answer.
“No, my sister is a lesbian. I love my little sister.”
Now we’re both quiet, for probably the first time in maybe twenty minutes. His face was just ... blank. I don’t know what he was thinking, and really it don’t matter. After a bit, I just reached out, put my hand on his arm, and told him that I truly believe racists, homophobes, sexists, and all those alike deserve nothing but death and then just walked off to find a line a few aisles away. I was emotionally drained, my adrenaline was wearing off so I was hit with a migraine and the need to vomit, and I couldn’t help but feel I came face to face with the product of Hatred. This is what racism does - it destroys lives, whether it’s literal or figurative. You can’t process hatred, you either fight it with love or you spread it. I don’t think anyone, and I mean ANYONE, had stepped in to help this man fight so he did the only option left - spread it towards Natives.
I’m probably gonna think about this man for the rest of my life. I’m probably gonna be on my death bed, wondering what has become of him. Every time I see hatred, this man is gonna be in my thoughts. Maybe I didn’t handle everything the way I should have, I still feel really bad about the scalping discussion, because I could tell by his face that the thought of black men scalping Natives was horrifying to him. I don’t know if he believed me or not, but the thought alone must have been enough for him. But, I’m content with what happened. Hate me, flame me, call me whatever you want, accuse me of what you will, but I am content with what happened.
