I put way too much effort into this for a dorky one-off, but here we are! I have a whole backstory for this AU but I will not bore you all with the details.

Danny as Fenton takes a hit that no human boy should survive while in a different city (im going crossover here) and just transforms into phantom and pretends to be all sad that he died. Just for a moment. He then proceeds to kick the baddies ass. Claims he got ghost powers and fucks off. Imagine if Captain America or Batman saw this while failing ti protect him, hell or any hero type. Danny doesn’t think much on it and just goes on with his week. Continues being Fenton of course but what if he runs into whatever hero, but out if costume, saw him do that.

“How are you here? And alive?”

Danny holding a smoothie:”uhhhh I made a miraculous recovery”

He just shrugs it off and goes about his day. It isn’t until he finally gets some sleep later that night that he wakes up in a cold sweat realising he now knows their secret identity. “Oh well it’s neat I guess” starts to go back to sleep only to bolt back up “oh god now they know my secret identity”

Meanwhile said hero is too busy trying to figure out how to help this random kid to even be worried about the fact that they outed themselves. Someone else probably points it out to them and has to explain it twice before it gets thru.

so we all know that Jason 'Pride and Prejudice' Todd-Wayne is a nerd, right? no amount of muscle can hide that this fridge of a man was once the dorky little kid that was so excited to go to school he skipped out on Robin patrols to do homework.

I propose that Danny 'I Wanna Be an Astronaut' Fenton Phantom is also a fucking nerd. he gets good grades, when he's not having to juggle school, sleep, and secret ghost fighting, and he takes to engineering like a ghost to ectoplasm. he's also the exact kind of space-obsessed geeky kid that would absolutely devour every sci-fi show and book he could get, and I say that as someone who was that space-obsessed geeky kid.

so, as young teens, both boys spent a lot of time in online fandom spaces, and eventually become internet friends. Jason's into classic lit and Lord of the Rings while Danny's into comic books and Star Trek, but they get on surprisingly well. They're chatting on forums and beta-ing each other's fanfiction, that sort of thing... and then Jason vanishes.

he just stops responding to messages, he stops posting, all his accounts are abandoned. Danny is very concerned, of course, but this happens right around the time of his accident, so he has more city-destroying things to worry about than an online friend going MIA. and eventually, as he gets older, he sort of forgets about Jason, only occasionally thinking back to the kid he used to talk to, wondering whatever happened to him.

so time passes, and Danny, now a young adult, ends up meeting the Batfam for whatever reason. is he part of the Justice League? in Gotham for a Wayne Enterprises internship? superhero shenanigans? Ghost King Summoning? secret twin/son/clone bullshit? up to you!

any way, he's hitting it off with the Batkids, and at some point Jason subconsciously quotes something from one of his old, unpublished fanfics from his Tumblr days.

and Danny's jaw drops. the Batkids stare at him; you can see the gears turning in his head before he blurts out;

"You're WingingIt02???"

and something deep in Jason's brain, buried under layers of death-trauma and Pit Rage clicks.

"Holy shit, AstroloGhost??"

Jake shrugs.  “I missed the letters so anyone can put what they like ‘a’ or ‘u’,” he grins and wiggles his eyebrows, making eye-contact with Rooster, while everyone rolls their eyes and moans in disgust. “I’m pretty sure it’s just your ego thinking someone would choose ‘u’,” Phoenix comments. “You definitely can put ‘u’ in the first place and it will be true”, Buck says with a grin before sipping his beer and makes his shot as Jay suggested to him, striking the ball in a pocket, not noticing how everyone stopped laughing and looks at him now. “Thank you, sweetheart,” Jake grins more and enjoys the shock on his friend's face, and almost laughs with how Eddie almost choked on his beer. And he really likes how Buck seems doesn’t understand what he did, unaware of the reaction to his comment while he tries to make another shot but misses. His friend stands back and finally sees the way all the eyes are on him.  “What?�� Buck gives him the cue back. “Jake and I are exes, so I know what I’m talking about,” the easy way he admits makes Jake smile happily.  Both he and Buck are okay with the way they never worked perfectly as partners, but stopped trying in perfect time to create fantastic friendship.   “You are exes?!” the question is asked from everyone near them, but the way Bradley and Eddie change their face and ask it more emotionally than anyone with, actually, pretty similar faces, takes interest in Jake. Is that jealousy? From both? Does that mean Rooster is into him too? Does it mean not only Buck is in love with his best friend?

Liam is, at first, completely horrified, right? like, oh, dear heavens, he just punched someone! that's not very holy of him! ...but also, Theo is a demon... surely he's just... acting within his angelic duties... to thwart demon wiles... yeah...?

and Theo cannot decide whether to laugh his ass off because he just got an angel to punch someone or start panicking that maybe he's pushed Liam too far and he'll be discoperated or smth. which ofc he won't be bc Liam (as much as he loath to admit it) does not hate Theo, but they are not at the stage in which Theo is certain of that!!

but once Theo gets him back it (dreadfully, in Liam's opinion, and cruelly giddily in Theo's) becomes a Thing.

I just came to the conclusion that I can take any scene in TFRB and make a fic on how [insert character] dies, gets teleported to another world, transforms into a monster/mutant/mythical creature, turns evil, falls in love etc etc etc

Like... I could take that one scene in HotShots and make a Hazbin Hotel crossover as an excuse to rewrite canon at my will.

Or much better, I bring the Power Rangers to Griffin Rock 😈
