A lot of the suspicion towards Loki in Thor 1 stems from the other characters not knowing jack shit about magic or what Loki's capable of, and assuming he can do pretty much anything and overestimating his abilities. It's like blaming an IT specialist for an intricate cyber-attack because he's the only IT specialist you know, or your parents thinking you can hack the US government because you reset their modem. Granted, Loki was behind a lot of stuff in this movie, but that's just how it feels and that's hilarious? Especially because a random enemy's words are enough to make them suspect one of the crown princes?
How common are Loki's abilities? I assume hiding from Heimdall's sight is very rare for my own sanity. But it's weird to assume only Loki can do that EVER.
But are the Warriors 3 and Sif really assuming Loki can unbanish Thor and give him back his powers? I strongly believe he can't (at least in Thor 1, because he gets some power-up in the T:TDW ending that Odin manages to undo (implying Odin's magic is much stronger)).
And if we're talking about the comics, the Odin-force is specific to Odin, and is passed onto Thor. I wonder if they're assuming he has inherited the Odin-force, but they're unaware of his Jotun heritage and that he hasn't gotten it? And of course, Loki can't tell them why he doesn't have it... This is just me, extrapolating and making shit up.
Thor 1 establishes a very imbalanced (literal) power dynamic between Odin and the rest of the family. Odin's banishment powers are Odin-specific. Frigga in the deleted scene, would have undone them if she could. Loki would have been able to gain Mjolnir's power by changing the parameters of worthiness if he could undo it.
Either Loki was always treacherous and terrible but incredibly powerful, like in the comics (after IW and sequels, I am not inclined to believe this) or Loki was actually decent/trustworthy for most of his life but his magic has limitations.

can't believe I've reached a point where I can watch/read the Thor first Thor and completely understand Heimdall's and the warriors 4 side lmao
Like, jotuns sneak inexplicably past Heimdall's watch (a thing that NEVER occurred before, mind you) and inside the WEAPONS VAULT on the moment of Thor's coronation, disrupting it just in time so Thor won't be named king, later Thor gets banished and Odin falls into the Odinsleep, leaving the path free for Loki to take the throne
Loki was also the only sorcerer powerful enough to achieve such a feat in their eyes, he's a master of magic and apparently the only person that would have reasons to not want Thor on the throne, he's adored by everyone, except his jealous little brother (or so they think)
Even Loki himself expected them to suspect him, in one of the novelisations he talks about how Thor's friends are probably suspicious of him and how few people in Asgard actually believed he had the realm's best interests at heart, he knows the reputation he has, he understands it and he doesn't care, he just wanted to please Odin, he didn't care about what others would think of him and that's one of the things that contributed to his downfall, because thanks to that Thor's friends came to the conclusion that he was acting against the realm, against Thor and they had to do something to set things right
Even Heimdall came to the same conclusion, Loki was probably conspiring against the realm and he had to stop him, they didn't know of his intentions and tbh even if they did that wouldn't change much for them, all they knews is that they had to protect their home from whatever scheme Loki was plotting
And the sad thing is that Loki's actions only served to prove them right, allowing Laufey and some forst giants inside Asgard and into Odin's chambers while he was unconscious? What the hell was he thinking? Even though it was just a scheme to prove himself to Odin, he put asgardian lives in danger by doing that, not to mention literally sending the Destroyer to kill Thor and his friends on Earth, again and again his actions served to prove Heimdall and the warriors 4 right: Loki was willing to put asgardian lives in danger to fulfill his schemes
And we know he didn't want to endanger his people, he just wanted to prove to Odin that he could be a good, worthy son, he was lost and broken and bc of that he acted without thinking, he didn't consider the consequences of his actions and he suffered greatly for it
So yeah, all this to say that I fully understand now Heimdall's and the warriors 4 distrust towards him, I know this might sound ridiculous to some people bc of how obvious it is but sometimes we get stuck in our own echo chamber and it's kinda hard to leave that behind, I say that bc for a long time I hated Heimdall and the W4 and I couldn't see why they acted so harshly towards Loki, in my mind they had no reason to behave in the way they did and I realize now how wrong I was lmao

Asgardians project on Loki
Asgardians are jealous of Loki. The reason Loki is so belittled and gaslighted is because people like to use him, but also in order to keep gaining favours from him, they need to keep him needy of their praise and blah blah blah. I think a lot of us know how it works, so I won't explain that. On the other hand, Loki has something they don't, which is what makes him 'untrustworthy'. Loki is adaptable, curious and dedicated, as well as other amazing traits.
Loki is "burdened with a glorious purpose". He has a bright star, and people who do not have a bright star as well tend to see that star, and want to dim it. (Yes, I believe there's a spiritual side to it.)
Loki can easily acknowledge (and has) that he's jealous of Thor, but when others call him jealous they are projecting. They especially do this when Loki outwits them. They don't even have to be jealous of Loki, they must've had their ego bruised by him in one way or another.
Sif is close to Thor, but she would never be able to surpass Loki's level of closeness, which sucks, because Loki and Thor barely have any similarities. Why is Thor so insistent on attaching Loki to his side? Thor doesn't need Loki. Thor shouldn't want Loki. Sif and Loki mirror each other. Sif is a warrior lady, most likely with a mission to bring greatness back in the name of female warriors, considering the fiasco of Hela and the Valkyries. Loki is a practisioner of magic, which is seen as feminine, and can battle without magic efficiently, as is expected of a prince. Loki can go both ways, but Sif would never be able to do such a thing.
Hogun is that non-white friend in an all white friend group who's willing to forget and disregard his own ethnic background for those white friends. Excluding the whole Jotun Loki thing, Loki and Thor are both mix-raised, seeing as Frigga is from Vanaheim (according to fandom anyways). Loki clearly inherited a lot of Vanaheimian(?) traits, including the black hair, despite having an Asgardian king for a father. If Loki behaves like a Vanaheimian despite having an Asgardian upbringing, how would Asgardians perceive Hogun? Hogun is threatened by Loki and is determined to drive him out of the friend group. On the other hand of this halfblood envy, Loki makes Hogun feel ashamed. A half Asgardian managed to out-Vanaheim the full blooded Vanaheimian.
Fandral and Volstagg? I don't know, I don't care about them. Maybe Volstagg isn't a very smart person and is jealous of Loki's wit, whereas Fandral is an enabler who's there to be a soft blow. He's a reassurance to Loki's insecurity. He's nice so Loki would think "hey, at least there's one person that's okay with me" and still hangs out with them so that they can benefit from him.
I can imagine Loki has quite the reputation. And when you have a reputation, people talk. Loki is intelligent, diplomatic and pretty much has the significant traits of both Odin and Frigga. Loki is hard working, and tries different things. He's a problem solver, and adapts well to cold weather. I could see Thor views this as Loki outshining him, which is why he could never understand how Loki believed he was in Thor's shadow. Thor thought that Loki was better than him, and suspected that maybe Loki knew it too, and made sure to remind Loki which son was in charge. Which son truly had favour. Which son really mattered. Thor cares for and loves Loki, but is also jealous of how much skill and significance Loki has, even though that skill is a result of Loki's determination, trial and errors. Loki was able to butter people up with his silver tongue, but Thor put people on edge with his loudness and forwardness.
Edit: There are more reasons I can come up with for Thor to be jealous of Loki. First off, Thor felt the only significance he had as the son of Odin was that he was the first born. That's the only relevancy he has. Personality wise, he's the typical Asgardian warrior, with the brashness, light hair and being ready for battle. Loki, on the other hand, has many amazing feats, and stands out. Thor would most likely (or is expected to) become a copy paste of Odin, whereas Loki has an identity of his own. Loki can become whatever he wants, and be whoever he wants outside royalty. Thor's destiny is to be the king and remain stagnant.
What makes it worse is that being a male mage is frowned upon for sexist reasons, but Loki ultimately gets away with it. Being the 2nd prince may play a huge factor, but you'd think that Odin would try to put a stop to that. If he did, he wasn't successful, because Loki's a known seidr practitioner to all of Asgard. I don't think Thor would've been allowed, perhaps heavily discouraged from it.
Frigga is a warbride (according to fandom again), and possibly has stockholm syndrome. I guess she's jealous of Loki's freedom. Loki is technically Odin's servant, and one who can easily gain freedom by leaving the family. Thing is, he's a great employee, and they don't want to lose him. He needs to be convinced that he has no one, and has no other opportunities. She loves Loki, but is willing to have him suffer like she does. She needs someone to be trapped with her. She needs that company. She is unknowingly working as Odin's puppet as she does this, because she herself cannot leave.
Heimdall's all seeing eyes can't spot Loki, and that gets on his nerves. This guy doesn't understand that some people find it creepy to be watched, so he can only assume that Loki is up to something. He must be! Why is he hiding himself before stepping into the shower? Why is he hiding himself as he sleeps?
Odin??? I'm not sure. Every abusive, narcissistic parent is envious of their child about something. Sometimes that envy is over nothing. Odin makes declarations of peace, but Loki is the true embodiment of that (ignoring Thor Ragnarok). Odin looked for trouble, but Loki does anything in his power to make it a last resort.
Odin obviously saw Loki as lesser. To have that lesser become the person Odin claimed to be must be a giant bruise to his ego.

Two Fae in The Forest- Loki x Reader x Fandral
Summary: Loki and Fandral spot reader in the forest and decide to have a little fun
Word count: 1, 821
A/N: I have not written them as fae, it’s just a title 😅
Tumblr media
While most who find themselves visiting Asgard are excited for the feasts and lavish way of life, you found yourself more excited for the wilderness. The forests, the streams, the creatures, they interested you far more than gowns and galas.
Since coming here from ‘Midgard’, as they called it here, with your friend Thor, you found you were out exploring most days. Both Lady Sif and Thor had offered to teach you how to ride a horse, but you preferred to walk. You wanted to see everything you could, and that would be easier to do on foot.
In fact, walking the forest was exactly how Loki and Fandral had found you. Fandral had drawn the short straw that day and was the one who had to ‘babysit’ Loki. He tried to keep a close eye on Loki, trying hard not to be tricked by him, and as they walked further together, he began to relax.
Sometimes Fandral could still see his old friend in the man Loki had become. Fandral had been Lokis friend for a long time, and he wanted to trust him, but he also didn’t want to be fooled.
This walk together felt like old times. He could see that version of Loki shining through, as they walked and talked with one another. Despite their current niceties however, Fandral still tried to keep his guard up, still cautious of the trickster Loki could be.
Fandral didn’t want to judge Loki the way he had to, I mean he wasn’t always naive to Loki’s ways. In fact he couldn’t deny that sometimes they would work as a team in Lokis trickery. It was never anything cruel or manipulative, simply for fun.
Like for example, if there were two princesses from neighbouring kingdoms who came to visit Asgard, it would be a lot easier working together to charm them back to their seperate quarters.
Fandral was a flirt, and Loki had a silver tongue, they worked quite well together and even learnt from one another. Luckily for the two friends, it was rare that they would both want the same woman. On occasions like that however, they found that sharing was a lot better than bickering. Again, working together.
Once Loki and Fandral had spotted you on their walk, they came to a halt. Looking to each other, they both wore a matching grin, and knew this was another time of sharing.
While Fandral viewed you as another gorgeous Midgardian that he could easily woo, Loki saw you more like sport. A sweet, attractive and curious human that he could enchant and use.
The image of Fandral and Loki hiding and looking at the soft Midgardian woman so hungrily, was nothing short of two fae watching an unexpecting human, before they are swept away.
Neither of them make a sound as they approach you from behind. A shout of surprise is let out as Fandral is the first to let his presence be known, lightly touching your hip, as he gracefully pushes his strong front against your back.
“Hello, darling,” Loki says, letting himself be known, as he comes out of the thick wooded area, like a predator hunting it’s prey.
Fandral’s grip on your hips tighten slightly as Loki stands before you, his finger and thumb now lightly lifting your chin. Loki stands so close that you can see all the different and enchanting shades in his eyes. Unlike Fandral, who holds you against himself, Loki does not touch you, but with every breath you take, your chest brushes softly against his.
“You know you shouldn’t be out here alone, sweetheart,” Fandral teases as his lips delicately begin to kiss along your neck.
Your eyes flutter and your breath hitches as Fandrals intoxicating lips make you shudder. Soon his kisses become hungrier and his touch filled with more desire. It becomes too much, and you can’t help but let your eyes shut as your head falls against his shoulder.
“Keep your eyes on me, sweet girl,” Loki whispers in your ear, his soft breath on your neck causing your body to shake more, as your body tingles with need.
Fluttering your eyes open, you notice Loki is even closer to you now. Once your eyes lock together, he begins to undo the bodice of your dress. His eyes never break from yours, and Fandrals kisses never cease.
“You know, Fandral is right, you shouldn’t be out here alone. There could be so many dangers out here,” Loki taunted with false concern.
Loki’s taunt caused Fandral to chuckle, as his passionate kisses turned into bites and nibbles. With your bodice now fully undone and the kisses becoming so rough on your delicate skin, you couldn’t help but moan as you throw your head back.
Loki watches you moan and writhe as you grind against Fandral, causing him to let out low moans of his own. Lokis eyes wander down to your chest, smirking as he sees your nipples have grown hard in the cool forest air.
His delicate fingers begin to lightly trace and pinch at them, causing you to gasp and become even more desperate.
“Ple-please,” you found yourself begging, your body desperate for more of their touch.
“What are you begging for, sweet girl?” Fandral whispered teasingly in your ear, as one of his hands replace Lokis on your breast, roughly kneading the soft flesh.
“I need you, ple-please. I need you both,” you continue to beg.
With your head against Fandrals shoulder, your body lazily grinds as you look between them both with hazy eyes.
“Both of us? Well aren’t you a greedy little girl,” Loki taunts with a large grin.
Loki’s hand comes around your throat, as he lightly pushes your head to face him, his lips now only a breath away from your own.
“Will you be good for us? Let us give and take pleasure from your beautiful body?” Loki asks you, staring deeply into your eyes.
“Yes, I’ll be good. Use me. Make me feel good. Just, please, touch me,” you reply to the god before you pathetically.
“Good girl,” Loki growls, as his grip on your throat tightens and he pushes his mouth roughly against yours.
You fight to keep up with the roughness of Loki’s kisses, as Fandral makes quick work of stripping you and himself of your remaining clothes.
Breaking away from the kiss, your mind is dizzy and your eyes are glazed.
“Kneel, darling,” Loki whispers against your lips as he stares into your eyes once again.
You lazily nod as knees begin to hit the cold floor of the forest. If you weren’t so enchanted by the man above you, and now the one behind you, you might care about how the rough floor of the forest feels against your knees.
“Good girl,” Fandral whispers into your ear, as his warm naked body presses against yours, and his strong hands knead your hips.
“Hands and knees, open your mouth for me, and arch your back for Fandral,” Loki orders once again.
Your eyes don’t break from his as you do exactly what he asks. Once in position, Loki roughly grabs a hold of your hair as he pushes your head and spine even further back.
Your scalp stings slightly from the rough treatment, but you don’t have time to complain or care, as Loki swiftly pushes his impressive length into your awaiting mouth.
Loki looks down at you, as both of his hands hold your head still, and he begins to thrust in and out of your mouth.
“Are you ready, sweet girl?” Fandral whisper’s in your ear.
Loki draws your head off of his cock so you can answer.
“Yes,” you plead with a weak sigh, trying hard to look behind you.
“Look at me while he fills you up,” Loki orders, as he pushes your head back to face him.
Your face begins to contort in pleasure as Fandral slowly fills you up.
While Loki is rough and dominant, Fandral is gentle but passionate. The mix of both men drives you mad.
“Such a tight little pussy!” Fandral grunts as he begins to thrust into you, one hand gripping your hip, while the other grabs your breast.
Smirking down at you, Loki grabs your head and plunged into you once again, pushing your head and his hips to chase his pleasure.
“Fuck! It’s been so long since I’ve fucked a sweet little Midgardian like you! Tight little pussy, taking me so well,” Fandral praises you as his pace and roughness speeds up.
With the mix of Fandrals praise and Lokis devilish face looming over you, it all begins to become too much, and you can feel that delicious tightness in you begin to twist.
Loki can see you’re close too, as his thrusts begin to speed up.
“Don’t you dare finish before me,” he scowls above you, “you will swallow everything I give you,” Loki pants out as his hard thrusts become sloppier.
There’s nothing you can or want to do as Lokis release mixes with the saliva that is flowing from your mouth. Wanting to be good for him, you swallow everything he gives you. As he pulls out of you, you prove how good you’ve been by opening your mouth and pushing your tongue out for him.
He smiles down at you with a gentle grin, as he crouches down to your level, Fandral only slightly easing up.
“Good girl. Will you be good for Fandral and take everything he gives you too?” Loki sweetly asks as he gently pushes your fussed up hair behind your ear, and wipes your face clean with his thumb.
“I’ll be good…” you lazily drawl out, Lokis hold on your cheek and Fandrals hold on your body the only things keeping you up.
Loki smiles as he goes to sit beside you both, to watch.
Once Loki is seated, Fandral wastes no time in pushing your back against his front and thrusting into you harshly once again. Now with Loki gone, it seems Fandral takes on a more dominating role.
One of his biceps is wrapped around your throat, while his other hand it wrapped around your middle, and his fingers begin to play with your clit.
“Fuck! I’m so close. Such a tight little pussy. Such. A. Good. Little. Girl!” He praises as he thrusts into you.
With a stamina you’ve never experienced, Fandral seems to fuck into and praise you for another 10 minutes, before he finally finishes inside you.
Fandral is not as controlling as Loki, and did not make you beg for your release. Instead he pleaded for you to finish, over and over again. So much so, that by the time he finishes, you are already quaking with overstimulation.
Pulling out of you gently, both Fandral and Loki lay you on a soft cloak, as they stroke and kiss your tired body.

reverence (entirely undeserved) - A Dashingfrost Oneshot
Written for 2023 Fictober prompt #3, "Okay, show me."
Fandom: Thor (Movies)
Rating: General Audiences
No warnings!
Summary:
Loki’s gaze snapped up to his face, only to find him looking earnestly back. He swallowed thickly and messed with the hem of his shirt, the silk starting to thin where he fiddled with it so much. “It’s not pretty.” He warned, trying to dissuade him.
“I would most likely disagree.” Fandral said, letting a small smile grace his features. “I find it hard to believe that any part of you could be anything less than stunning.”
OR
Loki shows Fandral his Jotun form and begins on a path of- if not self-acceptance, then allowing himself to be loved.

---
On a moonless night in Loki’s chambers, Loki and Fandral sat alongside one another. These kinds of nights were often the only time they could carve out for each other, with Fandral’s duties and Loki’s current impersonation of the king keeping them apart. As such, the late hour tended to loosen their lips, and some of their most meaningful conversations happened on these nights. Tonight is a good example of this.
Some nights, Loki read, carding through Fandral’s golden hair where he rested his head upon the other’s legs. Some nights, they shared anecdotes, making up for lost years. On those nights, the air seemed to move around them, carrying their voices like wind, lifting the sounds out the window to shield them from prying ears. Other nights, nights like these, they couldn’t bother with any of that. On nights like these, the air seems still.
“You... know of my true heritage.”
“I do.” Fandral said without hesitation. Loki, posing as Odin, had been slowly twisting the narrative the Aesir had on Jotunheim as a whole. Within the past few years, the public’s view on the Jotnar had shifted from ‘savages and horrible monsters’ into ‘a people in need of Asgard’s help after being released from centuries of tyranny.’ It wasn’t exactly a favorable view, but you cannot un-instill the millennias of elitism taught to the Aesir people. Pity, he supposed, was better than malice. Only a few months ago, he had revealed to the public Loki’s true heritage, in hopes that any love they still held for their dishonored prince would be the tipping point to change the people’s views. It had worked for the most part, as before Loki’s reported death, he’d had equally as many allies as he did enemies.
“Did you know before I told the public?” Loki asked quietly. He was genuinely curious if Thor had immediately told his companions of Loki’s true parentage, when the King and Queen no doubt told him after Loki’s assumed death.
“No.” Fandral answered truthfully. “I... didn’t. Have you always known, or is it something you learned recently?” Of course, by recently, he could mean in the last century, or the last year. Time references like that get complicated when you live to the ages that the Aesir (and the Jotnar, he supposed) do.
It takes a bit for Loki to find the words. “Thor’s banishment. That’s around the time I discovered it. Right before Odin fell into the Odinsleep.”
Fandral’s eyebrows furrowed, not that Loki could see it happen, the way they were faced away from each other. “That’s... less than a decade ago.” Loki nodded in response, which Fandral did see happen, because he had turned his head in surprise. He shifted his body to face the other man, which after a moment, Loki mirrored. Facing each other now, they still could see very little of each other’s expressions in the low light.
“Well, I’d say,” Fandral started slowly, “That for someone who recently found out they’d been lied to their entire life, you’re coping quite well, all things considered.”
At this, Loki scoffed. “I’d hardly call attempting genocide and subsequently throwing myself off the Bifrost when I failed ‘coping well.’” He’d been a fool, to think he could gain Odin’s worthless approval at that point. He’d thought that maybe, if he levelled a strike against the Jotnar that was truly devastating, he could prove he wasn’t one of them. (To whom he wanted to prove that, he isn’t sure.) Or, if it went differently, and he successfully ran the Jotnar extinct, then he’d be the only one left. If there were no Jotnar left, then him being one wouldn’t mean anything anymore. It was a foolish hope, and one made of rash desperation. He knew the exact death toll that came of it, now that he was king. He won’t soon forget it.
Fandral expertly avoided that topic of conversation, likely not wanting to think about the devastation caused by his lover’s hand. “Have you ever seen it?”
“Seen what?”
“Your Jotun form.” Fandral replied easily, and Loki took a sharp breath.
He held the breath, letting it out a few moments later, when he had gathered his thoughts. “No. I haven’t, not fully. What I have seen of it is... horrible. I wanted to tear the skin off when I saw it, down to the bone if I needed to in order to see something other than blue.” He admitted.
Fandral frowned at the description. “Do you really think it looks that horrifying?”
Loki nodded. “I’ve tried to look at it before, in a mirror. I could never manage to open my eyes to see it. I was too afraid of what would be staring back at me.”
“Okay, show me.”
Loki’s gaze snapped up to his face, only to find him looking earnestly back.
Fandral reached up and brushed a strand of hair out of his face. “Let me be the judge. You’re scared of seeing yourself like that, but I know you, and I know you’re curious. You don’t even have to open your eyes while it happens. But if you wanted someone to see it, you could show me.”
Loki swallowed thickly and messed with the hem of his shirt, the silk starting to thin where he fiddled with it so much. “It’s not pretty.” He warned, trying to dissuade him.
“I would most likely disagree.” Fandral said, letting a small smile grace his features. “I find it hard to believe that any part of you could be anything less than stunning.” And wasn’t that a wonder. Here in front of him sat a man who spent his entire life fed nothing but stories of how the Jotnar ate their young and killed his people, and yet he looked into the eyes of one with nothing but adoration (and a barely noticeable hint of sorrow).
Because of this, or maybe in spite of it, (would he rather see disgust in his lover’s eyes, if it validated his own?) he closed his eyes and removed the glamour. It felt like peeling off a fake skin, and in a way, he supposed, it was. He didn’t open his eyes again until the whole dreadful process was over, and when he did, he had trouble suppressing the shudder that overcame him when he saw the cobalt hue of his hands. He had only ever seen them twice before now, when he used the casket, before his fall off the Bifrost. The markings that were etched into his hands were morbidly familiar, despite knowing that he had no reason to recognize them.
He risked a glance upwards at Fandral’s face, only to see that nothing had changed in the way he was gazing at him. It almost angered him. How is it, that his own hands are trembling as he can barely stand to look at them, but the man that only a number of years ago would have drawn his sword at the sight of his skin could look at him with such reverence?
Fandral gently took Loki’s hands into his own. Loki immediately wants to jerk them away for fear his skin would burn him. It doesn’t. Fandral tenderly traced the ridges on his hands, trailing up to where they disappeared beneath his long sleeves. It’s a blessing, Loki thought privately, that he wears such concealing clothing. He didn’t think he could bear to see much more of this skin. Fandral moved a hand to his face, now, and Loki let his eyes flutter closed as he began to trace the markings on his cheeks. He traced the lines along his jaw, drawing a crude map of the face for him. If he couldn’t bear to look at it, he at least deserved to have an idea. The touch was fleeting, unbearably light as it travelled up to trace the circular ridges along his forehead.
The hand dropped eventually, finding no more lines to map. Fandral took Loki's hands again, placing light kisses to the top of his head. Loki let his forehead fall onto Fandral's shoulder, ignoring how suffocatingly beautiful it felt to be adored so thoroughly.
