There's always been a long-standing question among fandoms that if this villain has anti-social personality disorder, then what would it say about their capacity for redemption? The correct answer is NOTHING, but the path that one with ASPD might take towards redemption may look different from everyone else. No one's path is identical. There are countless disorders that "could" potentially affect your moral behavior. Why is ASPD always singled out as the one that prevents you from achieving redemption?
I am NOT an expert on this. I think there are two big contributing factors most likely.
1)ASPD isn't 'sexy' and doesn't have a 'good victim' vibe. Sad people get the feels/sympathy, people who lash out get the boot. It's a pretty common thing in media. It's not fair, or just, but it is a fact.
2)ASPD specifically, from what I now as a Very non-expert Layman, is a condition with very few 'good' outcomes. You don't just 'get better' broadly. You usually end up on medication, perpetually. That medication often has strong side effects. It's a balancing act trying to live a functional life while taking medication. ASPD is of course not the only condition that has this sort of treatment, but it's definitely one of the more severe ones.
This means that there's rarely a happy/final outcome in these stories. It's about maintaining, it's about living life day to day. It's about not giving up. There's definitely a strong message that could be written around that kind of story but it isn't quick/easy/what people crave in general.
Net result- demonize those who act out, because we need baddies for our heroes and sadbois(girls, enbies, etc.)

maybe i do understand the symbolism and subtext of saltburn but what if i want to sum it up as a film about a guy who is a little freak who becomes obsessed with a wealthy college classmate of his and manipulates his way into his life then eats the rich boy’s cum and bath water mix out the drain then eats out rich’s boy’s sister when she’s on her period then fucks their cousin and the longer he stays at their house the more he descends into madness and ends up murdering his obsession, the sister, and their mother so he can inherit their wealth?? what happened to letting films just be insane and enjoyable?? why must everything be direct commentary on an issue?? let characters be freaks and flawed and exist in fun interesting films that clearly understand what the female gaze is

We all know that haikyuu is packed with life lessons, especially about growth and competition but one of the things that brought me so much comfort in life is the story of Miya twins. Both Osamu and Atsumu were hard workers but what differentiated them when it comes to volleyball prowess was their priorities. Osamu being a naturally gifted athlete was a major push in Atsumu's life; they made each other better (and worse in some ways). But it was Atsumu's choice to become a professional player and a great setter that pulled him ahead. Atsumu was dedicated to it and if Osamu wanted he could've reached the same skill level (or maybe even more).
Basically as long as you love and want something enough, despite there being "better" people out there, you'll reach greatness in your own right. And I think it's beautiful that consistent effort, even if it takes longer than "natural talent" (which is a topic for another day), will get you where you want to be.
Also, you can be good at something and even have potential to be greater and yet not choose it. You don't HAVE TO pursue anything just because it's expected or even possibly the most natural course for you to take. What matters is what you love.

this is gonna sound dumb but seeing southern characters portrayed as capable and intelligent and good brings me so much joy.
watching glass onion and seeing benoit kick ass in all his heavy southern-accented glory is so fun and like would i love him if he wasn’t southern? absolutely. but the accent makes me enjoy him so much more.

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet
Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)
Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked

[CLONE HIGH: BURNT BEACH AU]
Burnt Beach is a JFKonfucius-centric Clone High AU fanfiction that takes place directly after the ending of S3.
The story follows a burn-scarred and traumatized Confucius who unexplainably survived the tragedy.
To be his main source of comfort and support is not the person he thought it would be...
Some aspects of this fic, such as the chapter titles, are vaguely inspired by The First Glass Beach Album.

Chekov could make the same ‘it was made in Russia’ joke for the fifteenth time and I’d still laugh
