Now: some costuming details that i love:

(i know this is a stretch but go with me here) her hair is in slightly tighter curls than we've seen this season, which to me seems like a nod to colin liking (or at least not minding) her hair the way it was in previous seasons and maybe not caring as much as we might think about her transformation. but its still down and flowy and in line with her new style

let's talk about this! dress! (it has genuinely been keeping me up at night)

the sleeves seem much more similar to the silhouettes of her costumes in previous seasons, not necessarily in shape but in style

the sleeves are bulkier, compared to this season's costumes, which while they might have been the same size and shape, they are made of much lighter material, giving the silhouette a softer, more mature feeling.

compare it to this dress from s3 ep2: it looks very similar with the sleeve shape and the floral appliqués, but in the dress in the image above, the appliqués are much more obvious, closer to penelope's style under her mother's tastes

the point i'm trying to make here will be made more clear in a sec. what I am NOT trying to say that colin prefers her in her little girl dresses with loud designs, bright colors, and silly hairdos. he just associates those bigger, brighter, louder style choices with penelope.

And he has always liked Penelope. Even when he didn’t take her seriously as a potential partner, he always saw her as an equal. He never made fun of her silly dresses and questionable hair choices.

(take the scene from season 2 where we get the line "My purpose shall set me free") this is a side of penelope that no one, not even eloise!, sees

what his subconscious knows is that he associates pen with vibrant, textured, and often 3-dimensional outfits, and his subconscious creates a dress that fits her new style, with a little more of that featherington flair thrown in.

for those of you who haven't read the book, the mirror scene doesn't actually happen, but colin tells penelope about a fantasy he has about touching her in front of a mirror

this is a pretty small offhand comment made while they're having sex for the first time but amongst book fans the scene has become pretty fleshed out i think, with fanfics especially

film studies major. i must admit i don't adhere to the psych major he's given in canon, though director/producer roles aren't my first choice for him either. he goes all-in on tangible stuff for his prank, so i put him in the practical effects arena.

artist in his spare time, but big surprise he's cagey about it. like, chris sees josh's sketchbook in josh's room all the time, but he's never actually looked inside.

with both movie sfx + art, josh is practical > digital, and he only dips into digital effects or art when he absolutely needs to. i just think he's a tactile sort of guy who prefers to make things with his hands, so creating on a screen alone doesn't give him the same satisfaction.

on social media in that he has accounts, but they're sporadically active at best. he can be slow to respond to texts/dms and his responses can be short, which gives off the impression that he's disengaged or bored. he isn't, he just doesn't want to be on his phone.

ok, so i've reached the point where the chris in my mind looks different enough that i get a little jumpscared when i see him in-game LMAO. i hc him both taller and heavier. he's gotta be at least 6 ft. and a chris hartley who's thin is no chris hartley at all. not to me.

hii!! yes it’s been a long time, sorry just not been feeling it lately. this is kind of a drabble but not formatted properly, just a collection of my ideas in a sort of flow, if that makes sense😭 gonna be referring as you, just bc it’s easier and a habit

firstly, I think he knows you so well. like he knows all the tell tell signs, knows you better than you know yourself kinda thing. so I think he knows what’s about to happen before they do. he notices you act a little more withdrawn or a little more irritable, but he doesn’t push the matter, he waits and keeps an eye out. or alternatively, you could hide the beginning part really well and he wouldn’t notice (seeing as you’re acting like your usual self)

I think he’d be very gentle and quiet with you, he’s not great with other people but he is with you- he knows what to say and when to say it (as best as one could anyway)

he notices your leg bounce and fingers fidget, and then he’d very slowly approach you. if you were sat at the edge of the bed or sofa, he’d kneel on the floor between your feet (idc how much I say it, I love when men kneel for their girl!!!) he’d be careful as not to distress you more. he’d take your hand, and hold it tightly between his two. “hey,” he’d say, very warm and empathetic. “what’s goin’ on, love?” he’d ask, craning his neck to force you to face him.

if you couldn’t speak, you’d shake your head, bottom lip quivering. maybe you’d stretch out the neck of what you were wearing, kinda pulling it away from your skin as if it would help you breathe better. but it doesn’t really work, and you get increasingly more flustered and cry a little harder, possibly struggle to even your breathing.

maybe you’d pull your hand away from his and cover your arms around your head, like you’re trying to quieten your brain. tan doesn’t say anything, he just has a heartbreakingly sympathetic look on his face (he just hates seeing his girl so sad) his lips would be downturned, brows knit together and ears pulled back, sad eyes watching you. he doesn’t know what he should do or how to help, so he rubs calming and soothing circles on your knee, trying to distract from yourself and thoughts.

I feel like he’d kneel a little higher so he was in height with you, and would wrap his arms around your head, holding you to his chest. he’d brush over the back of your head, or through your hair (depending on hair type) he’d stroke down your back, and softly hum, again trying to distract you.

if you pull away, he doesn’t get upset, he understands. he’d cup your cheeks, holding your face in his hands, and kinda force you to meet his eye line. he’d dart over your face, scanning it (kinda like what he does to lem after ladybug fight. like he’s assessing you) he’d wipe your tears with his thumb and caress the apple of your cheek. he’d reassure you and help get your breathing back to normal, nodding you along and counting down when you should inhale and exhale. soft twitches of his stache when he notices you make progress

once you’re calm, or calmer. he’d sit down beside you, and pull you to him. you’d be sat in his lap sideways hugged into him (idk if you’ve seen it, but that clip of leonardo dicaprio and amy adams hug from a movie- idk what one, i remember seeing an edit) but anyway kinda like that. he’d been leaning against the sofa or headboard and silently comfort you. I think he struggles with words, so he shows you he care with actions (actions speak louder than words kinda thing)

he wouldn’t let go until you felt better, or unless you pulled away. he wouldn’t force words out of you, although he really wants to- he just wants to know what’s got his sweet girl so upset.

he’d help take your mind off it after- food, a drink, movie, bath, a game- anything you wanted.

Ouuu, well some of these might be obvious, but I'll try not to write a novel about how much I love the Skarsgards in almost everything! Let us start with the king. Our beautiful, perfect, hilarious and talented Bill... AKA the man of my dreams. AKA Horror Daddy. AKA the most gorgeous man who has or ever will exist. This is such a hard choice, but I have to credit his role as Pennywise as what introduced him to me, or rather, what got me HOOKED. Bill cemented himself in the horror genre as a God with this role. Not only that, but both chapters of the film are some of the best horror that has ever been done, period. I wouldn't even be here if it weren't for IT. Honorable mentions goes to Villains because Mickey was sooo devastatingly charming and Bill was made for the role. I'd say Castle Rock too but then I might as well list everything he has ever done both big and small because I just love him in everything, always.

Now, onto my sweet baby Valter. Historically, I have rejected anyone's negative opinions about my BEAUTIFUL BOY and will continue to do so until the day I die. Okay, he's a bit of a brat, he's not as well-known as his father or brothers, but he is my 2nd favourite Skarsgard (sometimes in my brain he is number 1.) Valter Odd Skarsgard has this voice that narrates my fantasies, and lips I dream of often. So tall, mmph. So gorgeous! That smile, oh my GOD. My underrated man.

Valter dropped a nuke on me with his role as Faust in Lords of Chaos. This movie means more to me than the fact that Valter is in it. The story itself and the period of metal music in Scandinavia has always been on my radar, and then Valter shows up as my ACTUAL type and ruins me. Do I think Faust is a good guy? No. Do I think that Valter with long black hair, a leather jacket and a bullet belt is the most attractive thing on the face of the earth? Yes. Great film, directed by the legendary Jonas Akerlund... What could be better?

Now, when it comes to Gustaf Skarsgard, I feel like I cannot choose between Merlin and Floki. Both have such chaotic energy. Both were so well-played. Then there's the short film he did with his father, directed by Bill and Landon Liboiron. HE IS A SHAPESHIFTER. So talented. So handsome. Ugh, just ridiculously gifted in the art of acting. But I have to give it to Merlin because I have never wanted to be on an alcoholic wizard before. Would I rewatch Cursed over Vikings? I don't know. Would I watch a standalone series of Merlin? YES. Would I watch a standalone series about Floki? ALSO YEAH. Tough decisions here. Ahhh, give me that silly wizard man. I want him! Cursed was great and they were wrong to cancel it!

Then of course, there's Alexander. A Golden God. As talented as he is attractive. This one is very hard because he's been in a lot of really good shows and films that I love. I wanted to pick his role in Zoolander because I think it's one of the best comedy bits I have ever seen (ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPUCINOS) but I can't do him like that. I think I would have to go with Randall Flagg in The Stand, not only because it's another Stephen King adaptation with another Skarsgard, but because he annhilated that role and looked so damn good doing it. And also BEARD (idc if it's fake, he looks great.)

Now, Papa Skars is a TOUGH one to pick, but I have to go with Dune. Idk if it's because of Stellan that his boys can play evil pricks so well, but the Baron is like next level shit. He is so talented. I went over half my life not even realizing he's been in so many movies I've watched. But in recent times, since the Skarsgards have been on my radar, Dune knocked it outtttt and Stellan was a huge part of that. Thank you Papa Skars, for helping create your beautiful sons and unleashing them upon the world.
