mbiaspec ✦ abiaspec ✦ atriaspec
mbiaspec / midbiaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the midbinary spectrum. It includes all midbinary genders, partial midbinary genders, midbinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of midbinity / midbinarity.
abiaspec : coining link. (Basically a abinary/abine/abinarine version of the others.)
atriaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the atrinary spectrum. It includes all atrinary genders, partial atrinary genders, atrinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of atrinity / atrinarity.
Some iaspec flags :)
While organising all my flags I noticed there were a couple of terms that didn't have corresponding iaspec flags, so here they are.
(I also made similar posts with mtriaspec and triaspec)
The abiaspec one was just an alt flag I wanted to make, using the same colours as my abinary alt flag, so they'd all match.
For midbiaspec, I'm not actually sure if it's a new term or not. The only thing I found was the midbiaspec tag on a somewhat unrelated post, no flag or definition for it.
The colours for all of these, like I mentioned, are based off of my midbinary/abinary/atrinary alt flags.
They're all 5 striped, have a light coloured center stripe, and gradient from light to dark stripes on the edges, just like the original iaspec flags.
I did adjust the colours a bit (mainly to be darker), so there'd be more contrast match the other iaspec flags better.

what being epicene means to me
so, hi! i'm epiceneandroid: a tumblr user defined by my identity as an epicene, well, android.
epicene has a lot of meanings, both personal to me and others and dictionary definition. its dictionary definition has a plurality of meanings, including, but not limited to:
-has characteristics of both male and female but is neither gender;
-has characteristics of both masculine and feminine but is neither;
-has both and neither masculine and feminine characteristics;
-has both and neither male and female characteristics;
-genderless or sexless;
-gender indeterminate;
-androgynous;
-gender neutral or neuter;
-unisex;
or a gender like male or female, but is neither.
of course, an epicene person can relate to any, multiple, or even all of those meanings, and still be epicene, and no two epicenes, just like no two women or men, will define their gender the same way.
however, i see my epicenity, as i've grown up over the years, beyond just "has characteristics of both male and female, but is neither" and "gender indeterminate".
think of those gender spectrum charts, like say, a circle. on one end is male, on one end is female, on one end is neutrois, on one end is aporagender, etc...the very center of the circle, in the middle of + having aspects of every gender but not BEING every gender like pangender, is epicene to me, i've discovered.
so it's a gender that has aspects of male, female, androgyne, femache, neutrois, aporagender, maverique, agender, really, countless genders, without being exactly all of those genders and being sort of its own thing. it's kind of like an aporagender that is simultaneously NOT an aporagender. it's kind of a schrodinger's abinary sort of thing, as it has aspects of genders that have nothing to do with binary masculinity/maleness or femininity/femaleness, but also has aspects of genders that HAVE relation to masculinity/maleness and femininity/femaleness at the same time. but, again, it's only ASPECTS of it, not exactly the exact gender. so epicenity is sort of like an abinary/midbinary combination, or a nontrinary gender, on the surface, but moreso...to me, an anonbinary experience.
so yeah. this is how i view my own epicenity. i wonder if other epicene people view their gender the same way.
#my gender#epicene#epicene gender#epin#epingender#if any epicene people relate to this they can reblog it if they'd like! i think i have a pretty unique take on epicenity because i see it a#lying outside of midbinary neutrality AND abinary androgyny and being sort of an anonbinary pangender in nature thing

My Abinarity Explained Midbinarily
The best way to describe my overall gender experience in relation to the gender binary is to describe it by saying that my genders exist both partially within and entirely outside of that binary. I am bigender - both male and neutrois - but I can’t experience one of those things without the other. They eclipse each other. This means that I am both binary (or have something similar to binarity), nonbinary, and abinary all at the same time. Oftentimes, we use binary-related concepts to describe our genders in relation to the binary - those are concepts that derive from or can be compared to one or more binary gender. Some of us experience genders that can be compared to manhood or womanhood, or we might have a gender that overlaps with the binary. Midbinary is the word we use for this comparison or overlap.
Nonbinary was once my way of saying that my gender was partially male, that I had an experience that toed the binary but was not completely within it. I called myself a nonbinary man for the longest time because while I was a man for certain, that manhood was through a nonbinary lens - a demiboy. Sort of a man, mostly a man, but not a man in the way most of society might expect. For me, that meant being a man leaning in a neutral direction. This is what I would later learn is an abinary manhood, a manhood that is flavored binarily but is more comparable to genders that have no proximity to the binary.
Neutrois is the purely abinary part of my gender. But being bigender means I am not just separately a man and also neutrois - I’m both at the same time, even if it means leaning more one way than another. Because of this, my neutrality (neutrosity?) affects how I experience my manhood. I am a neutral-leaning man, a man that is separated from the binary while still valuing that gender. Combined, this is how my manhood ends up an abinary one.
My abinarity exists on a plane far outside of the binary but can be compared to binarity. It’s not exactly a proximal gender experience, because those usually imply they are not a specific gender but similar to it. I am very much a man, not proxvir, but the -arity (binarity/abinarity/nonbinarity) is something I can compare to a binary experience. It’s almost like I have part of an abinary experience running parallel to the binary and I can compare the two because they are side-by-side even if they never overlap.
When I discovered the term “maverine”, it changed my perception of my own genders. I felt like a man and neutrois at the same time, but those genders didn’t seem to fit any convention I’d ever heard about. This demi-binary abinarity confused me until I learned that the key feature of maverinity is autonomy. This word gets used a lot when talking about genders like maverique (a maverine gender), but it took me some time to realize what that actually meant. It’s so much more than saying “My gender is just me.” Sometimes, it’s more specifically defined as “My manhood is of this very specific experience and quality that can’t be categorized in a conventional way.” Sometimes, maverinity is “My manhood is abinary because it is being defined in my own way, far outside of the binary.”
For me, maverinity means that I define my manhood in a way that suits my personal experiences with gender, which often means defining it in complex ways that people don’t typically use to define their manhood. It means that my manhood looks different from someone else’s manhood, even if they’re nonbinary men or abinary men - both of which are my experiences.
So, what does manhood even mean to me if it isn’t anything like a binary male experience? To me, manhood is a way for me to survive in a world that otherwise wouldn’t understand a gender that is entirely removed from typical concepts. I am a man outwardly and in specific spaces because, honestly, it’s easier to explain than this binary-nonbinary-abinary spectrum I find myself in. Plus, manhood acts as an “anchoring point” for me. I've found that a lot of haters see my gender ramblings in my videos and feel the need to comment “You're just a man! Deal with it!” The assumption that I'm a man is the ideal situation for me to be in because that assumption is at least true in a general sense. In a perfect world, I might find myself to be some kind of gender maverick with an abinarity or even an outherinity that reflects the complexity of my gender openly and without fear. For now, it’s best to be a man (with a little footnote added after it.)

Xenexogender Pride Flag
Xenexogender (exospec + xiaspec)/exenogender, exideospec (exideogender), or exiaspec (exiagender): being xenogender on the "abinary" side of the exobinary-to-binary spectrum from the alibinary system; a specific term for xenic and xingender folks whose issues are mainly experienced by people with identities that are completely outside and/or independent of the gender binary or anything related to it.
Not to be confused with exingender, it can be labeled as exoxingender, exia/exiaty, xenexobinary/xenoexobinary/exoxenary, or xinexogender (xinexospec). It's meant to differentiate xiaspec who are exobinary from those who are midbinary (or otherwise mesobinary, ideobinary, or viabinary) [i.e. xenboy, xeminine, etc.].

mid-binary term flag redesigns for anon!
the mione and valene flags use purple and yellow for nonbinary genders, red-pink and sky blue for binary female and binary male respectively, and gradients between the two to represent their fusion.
the terine and caiene flags use red-pink and sky blue for binary genders, purple-pink and turquoise for masculine nonbinary and feminine nonbinary genders respectively, and gradients between the two to represent their fusion.
the fluidne flag uses colors from the mione and valene flags to represent fluidity between the two, and the alacne flag uses colors from all four basic flags to represent fluidity between them, plus a black stripe to represent disconnection.

I recently found out about the term ambigue and I feel like it fits but I kinda dont fully understand it or if I need to feel a certain way to use it
Hey there anon, thanks for sending me your message. :-)
You don't need to feel a "certain way" to use a term. If you fit or relate the definition somehow and the term is open to you, it's yours to use if you would like.
I'll try to describe the gender Ambigue the best I can and hopefully that will help you ask yourself the right questions to figure out your gender at some point in this process.
Ambigue is a gender identity that is entirely ambiguous. Gender ambiguity can be considered indescernable, amorphous, nebulous or delphic. If you relate to having an ambiguous gender, ambigue may be a good term for you. Ambigue is an abinary gender that is indistinguishable across the gender spectrum. Being ambigue is often accidentally conflated with being an androgyne, but they are very distinct from each other. Androgynes embody androgyny in their gender, which is a gender quality resulting from the mixture of masculinity and femininity. Androgyny relates to the binary in this regard, being midbinary, but ambiguity does not.
If you haven't already, you should read this post from the coiner of the concept of gender ambiguity as a distinct quality. That might give you some more insight into what gender ambiguity is and whether it applies to you.
If you have any questions or want to talk more about this, please feel free to send me another ask.

Abingender Flag
Abingender (abiagender/abegender/abigender): Umbrella term for all genders abinary in nature. Also a term to refer to a gender that isn’t fully defined but definitely abinary/abenine/abinine, or a gender in which abinarity (abininity or abeninity) is its defining feature. May simply be used as “abin”, ie. “my gender is abin” (or abia/abe/abi).
The flag is similar to ningender, but it’s meant to mix both ain/aia and agin/agia spectrums/spectra. Note that abia- is interchangeable with abin- when exogender, however someone could be midbinary of mingender (not abingender) while being niagender (abiagender), for example. Read more on @momma-mogai-sphinx (about viagender).

A List of Gender Terms !
So I disappeared for 2 months, but I finally completed this project! :D (Though I've been making some random posts talking about it, so it's not like I was really gone, or what I was working on wasn't obvious.)
It started off as me having trouble keeping track of a couple gender terms (and also not knowing they existed before, since I've never really seen people talk about them), then I thought I should make a list, and if I was going to do that I might as well post it to help other people too. Which I started out trying to make that list on Tumblr, but I found it too limiting so I moved to google docs, which I also found too limiting (I just couldn't achieve my vision, if you will), and now I know html and css.
As usual, I kinda overdid it, but I think I should be a little proud of myself. I had 0 knowledge of html and css, and 2 months later I've made my own website. (I could have made it much quicker, but I often had to take breaks, a bit overwhelmed by all that new stuff.)
Anyways, it has a ton of terms on there.
I have sections for nonbinary, abinary, midbinary, atrinary, midtrinary, androgyne, agender, neutrois, maverique, ilyagender, aporagender, outherine, kenochoric, and xenogender.
For 7 categories (sex terms, adult, general term, child, gender quality, gender-quality-in-nature genders, and spectrum / -iagender spectrum).
And they all have sources on both Archive Today, Wayback Machine, and if still existing, the original post too. (At least to the best of my abilities, and there are a couple of exceptions that I couldn't figure out.)
I did put effort into this, but it's possible I missed something. So if I made a mistake anywhere, or if anyone has any extra information to add on, or if you just have some comments, you can tell me. My ask box is open, but comments on this post would probably be fine too.
Also, I checked on a couple of different browsers, mobile too, and read up on web accessibility and checked and all that (I tried using a screen reader, I'm not a pro at it though, so it's possible I may have missed something obvious), so I hope the website itself is useable. But if there's any bugs there, just tell me (it'll be appreciated).
I'm also thinking of making another compilation, but for flags (for all of the terms listed here), and maybe orientations too, but maybe later haha
I also don't know how to write a image id for the top picture, if anyone wants to write to one I'll add it.
-
Below the cut is a short little video scrolling through the site.

midtrinary ✦ midtrine mtriaspec ✦ mtringender
midtrinary : see this and this post for explanations.
midtrine (midtrinity) / midtrinarine (midtrinarinity / midtrinarity) : midtrinary gender quality.
mtriaspec / midtriaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the midtrinary spectrum. It includes all midtrinary genders, partial midtrinary genders, midtrinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of midtrinity / midtrinarity.
mtringender / midtringender : an umbrella term for all genders midtrine / midtrinarine in nature.
Some midtrinary stuff :D
[pt: midtrinary]
The midtrinary one is an alt flag, since I wanted one in the same style as my midbinary/abinary/atrinary alt flags. But the other ones should all be new, I came up with the names and definitions myself anyways.
My understanding of trinary is a lot like what's shown in this diagram, so I consider masculinity, femininity, androgyny, and neutrality trinary. The midtrinary flag is based off that, but more blended, for the mid- part, kind of like my midbinary flag.
I chose green, blue, purple, and magenta as that's just what I see typically associated with neutrality, masculinity, androgyny, and femininity.
The other flags are all derived from this main midtrinary flag.
Midtrine is in a vertical 5 stripe pattern, like these gender quality flags (there's a lot of links in that post pointing to similar flags). I think it also helps separate it from the regular flag, so it won't just look like a 5 striped midtrinary flag.
Mtriaspec is a light center, gradienting to darker stripes on the edges. Like the original iaspec flags.
Mtringender has a wide middle stripe, and gradients to lighter colours on the outside. Again, like other ingender flags (mingender, fingender, lingender flags) (though I guess the center being the darkest may just be my own interpretation).

trinary ✦ trine triaspec ✦ tringender
trinary : the gender trinary. What's included under this depends, but it's usually 2 binary genders (male and female) and another gender, like neutrois/agender/androgyne. There are other sources that define it better I think.
trine (trinity) / trinarine (trinarinity / trinarity) : trinary gender quality.
triaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the trinary spectrum. It includes all trinary genders, partial trinary genders, trinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of trinity / trinarity.
tringender : an umbrella term for all genders trine / trinarine in nature.
Some trinary stuff :3
[pt: trinary]
So I know of binarine, and related terms, and I wanted to make matching trinarine terms.
Trinary, of course, was not coined by me. There's already a flag for it here. I just wanted a alt flag. The rest I came up myself.
Like I mentioned in my midtrinary post, my understanding of trinary is like this diagram. So that's where the magenta-pink (feminine), purple (androgynous), green (neutral), and blue (masculine) come from. I also added grey, inspired by the binarine flag. I think the (dark) grey is a good way to differentiate between trinary and midtrinary (same with binary and midbinary). I also made the stripes sideways, to kind of resemble a triangle (like the gender trinary). It's most obvious in the corners, as those are actually triangles and not just stripes.
The rest of the flags are all based off of this colour scheme.
The trine flag follows a similar format to other gender quality flags, link. I rearranged the stripes to be a gradient to the middle, and with vertical stripes to help make it more distinct.
Triaspec is like the other iaspec flags, with a off white stripe in the center, and a gradient to darker colours on the outside. Because green is the lightest colour, I chose it for the center stripe, and since the green wouldn't be as prominent anymore, I also adjusted the outer blue and pink stripes to be closer to green on the colour wheel.
Tringender has a wide middle stripe and a gradient pattern, bit like the other ingender flags (mingender, fingender, lingender). The center stripe being the darkest follows the same format I use for my other ingender flags, that's just kind of how I memorised / think works for the ingender format.

Xenxari Pride Flag
Xaexell, xaerell, faexell, xensari, cenxari or xenxari: a term for those who are xiaspec, niaspec and liaspec. They can experience the xia/nia/liaspec-ness in any configuration, including but not limited to: being all three at once, being static in one or two but the others are fluid or flux, or being fluid between all alignments.
It’s the combination of censari, xenrell and faexari. The coiner of the xenoic version of faesari and cenrell used viaspec (viagender spectral) terms instead of ideospec (ideogender spectrum), her explanations used finspec/minspec terms instead of fiaspec/miaspec, other times using them interchangeably. So xenxari can be linspec/xinspec too.

Today’s Gender of the Day is: Midbinary!
Midbinary (also called endobinary) is an umbrella term for genders that are between the binary, connected to the binary in some way, move between binary genders, or exist as a combination of binary genders. It can be considered the opposite of abinary, which is an identity in no way related to the binary.
Identities that fall within the midbinary spectrum include androgyne, demigirl, demiboy, boyflux, girlflux, and many more labels that reference the binary or express a combination of binary genders.
Midbinary individuals are not automatically neutral or genderless in any way, nor is it automatically a multigender identity. There is a lot of variety in midbinary experiences and midbinary people can have any kind of gender, pronouns, or presentation.
