One time I posted a video about how I view our own persecutor/programmed alters as misguided and people in the comments were like “well not all persecutors are misguided” and it might have been my NPD talking but that statement was so stupid to me. No where did I say ALL persecutors are misguided, I said I viewed my own as misguided. I wish TikTok brain rot didn’t take over peoples minds and they still knew how to read.
The media literacy on TikTok is worse than Tumblr, which is.. saying something for sure.

Just a reminder that alters that genuinely just want to hurt everyone are real and valid.
Not every persecutor/aggressive alter are “misguided”, some genuinely know what they are doing and want whats worst for the system, and while its not okay, its valid. Its okay to have alters like that, it does not make you any less of a valid system.

Headmate Role & Type Master-list (as re-posted by us to be more thorough and all system inclusive)
Below the cut is a masterlist of common headmate roles and types. We will do our best to keep this updated if we think anything else should be on here. Please let us know if there's anything you think we should add or any info we should update to be more accurate!!
Tumblr media

→ Songtive: an introject who takes on traits or identity based on a song.
→ Playtive: an introject who takes on traits or identity based on a toy, usually one from childhood.
Sentience
→ Headmate: a fully sentient and independent headmate who is able to function on their own.
→ Companion: a complex established NPC, often animals, that are tied to specific headmates and often accompany them; generally can only be understood by their associated headmates.
→ Fragment: a headmate who is at least partially sentient, but not generally independent and able to function on their own; often hold specific feelings, symptoms, or memories.
→ NPC: a being in the innerworld who is not sentient or considered a headmate; named after the term “non-player character.”
Species
→ Human: a headmate who presents as a human.
→ Nonhuman: a headmate who presents as any other species than human; often as an animal, supernatural creature, or humanoid with animalistic features.

Note
i hate when systems (often on reddit) say to call persecutors 'midguided protectors', because while, yeah, thats described most of our persecutors, some of them are NOT 'misguided' and are actively trying to harm us
yeah,, we just don't like generalized terms in general. Not all persecutors are misguided and not all persecutors are genuinely trying to harm. It depends on the system / alter really

"Every alters exists for a reason!"
Do they actually need one? Good news, not all!
It is much easier to accept that every alter exists because they encompasses a slice of your whole pie, with a simple phrase:
"Every alters exists to represent who i am as a whole"
Why should we start saying this? Since it doesn't fit the "reason" if a standby part with no roles pops into existence. Or explain how a persecutor is doing harmful things for "good reasons". Or any other roles outside of protectors, hosts, or any other well-known roles that do have jobs and reasons on why they exist.
To those who are living and worrying what's their purpose to contribute to the system, acknowledging yourself on what your form/characteristic/qualities means to the collective and accepting them as is, whilst supporting the main players in real life is the best contribution you could ever done!
Not having a purpose, or a 'valid' reason for existing still doesn't make you less valuable, or worth less, or anything else you have in your mind.
Now, say it with me:
"Every alters exist to represent who i am as a whole!"
--
(for clarification, i do intend to clear up that persecutors exists as a part of you who keeps the negative cycle going to keep the system safe by 'keeping us behind the lines' . I do not promote that they are allowed to do misguided actions, but instead to look deeper to what is causing their harmful behavior to be perpetuated. Here is a post where i break down the idea of introjection as persecutors usually internalize negative qualities, if you need me to make a post on how to handle them, hit me up!)

Persecutor Flag!
[PT: Persecutor Flag. End PT.]
─ not requested
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A persecutor is a headmate that acts harmfully towards the body, other headmates, or in some definitions, those outside the body. It's often assumed that a persecutor is simply a 'misguided protector.' While this can be the case, it's not true for every persecutor.
The colors are a brighter version of our protector flag. The oranges are for the harsh situations and emotions that persecutors may deal with, the light oranges are for the care they deserve, and the grays are for dissociation.

Saw you ask about ppls AUs uh
Most of mine, admittingly, don't have designs yet. At least not drawn ones. Oops!!
But I can like?? Still ramble ig?
I also have a swap AU! I haven't posted a lot ab it, but it's called Solver Shift.
In it I put Sam in Cyns place. So the DDs have pink accents (wasn't comfortable using Doll and making them red, despite barely drawing DD armbands anyways - personally at least)
Some places I'm still unsure about, like idk whether Khan and Nori should be direct swaps with Ron & Tessa or should be put in Tessas parents position. If I go the latter idk who to put in Tessas place lol.
Ron and Tessa weren't actually ever romantically involved. They were just best friends, and were like "well we live together, we both kinda wanna know what having kids is like. So let's raise one together"; insert Nuke (N) being built. Tess survived a few years into his life, they built Cyn and then yada yada you know the story - dead mom
If it wasn't obvious by Ns name, the rail gun gets replaced by explosives. Thank Cyn for that, it was her idea. (They both take canonverse Uzi her engineering skills, but Cyn takes the more unhinged aspect of the personality.) - Nuke was like "we gotta do something about the DDs but idk what!" And Cyn, sparkly eyed and all, was like "Let's blow them up!"
I need to figure out some episode stand ins seeing as Cyn is younger but still sticks to N like glue. Beau takes Dolls place, they'd be Similar in age to Cyn (aka I gotta give them a body design F)
Oh also, as for befriending the DDs -- whilst Ep1 would run similar to canon; after that Thad/T would bond faster with the siblings than Uzi/Z bc they keep their canonverse personalities mostly!! So that's a reverse. Also T wouldnt want to kill the Prom unlike V, he just genuinely wants to make friends 😭
Don't ask me why Beau is at the prom, being younger and all. Might just make it an all years general prom rather than just the graduating class.
Next AU yay
Blood & Bats is a Vampire/Human AU! DDS and Solver Drones are vampires, you get the gyst!
N & Cyn are bio siblings, got separated bc of a divorce. Eventually both were separately taken away for shitty parenting, one of which caused Cyn to get vampirism one way or another. She also has DID/OSDD1 in this AU, the Solver conciousness isn't an evil entity here, just s Persecutor under the definition of "Misguided Protector who hurts as a form of protection" -- they're basically just a terrified vampire kid who thinks they're a danger and thinks isolation is the only way to keep their lived ones safe.
At some point the Elliots adopt N, later Cyn too. They also have previously adopted V and J. As time goes on, the alphabet trio one by one get turned by Cyn/Solver but they catch her after that so Tessa never is turned.
Uzi is basically a half vampire. Her mom was one, her dad wasn't. I don't remember the details atm, but I assume I've posted them somewhere in the tag on my account, but iirc Khan killed Nori in a moment of shock and survival instinct when finding out. Uzi doesn't know this. She finds out later after being turned herself (on accident!) - either through N or Cyn. Might do N to draw a parallel to the miscommunication between ep 2 and 3. Bc yeah Uzi would assume it's on purpose and he broke a promise.
Once they fix things, she finds out about her dad killing her mom and she runs away from home, terrified he might kill her too -- she crashes at the siblings place OR Thads place. I'm not sure yet. Both have pros and cons.
Khan cant easily access the manor, needs to be at an event for it. But the parents would want Uzi OUT asap. On Thads end; Teacher (Thad and Lizzy are either step or half siblings idk yet) and Ron (uncle, moved in after his sister died to help with the kids!) Would not let Khan take Uzi home sending as they see her terrified. They don't know what happened. But Khan has easier access bc he's friends with Teacher and obviously Lizzy is there which Uzi isn't thrilled about.
That's as far as I can remember the storyline -- there would still be parallels to some episodes! Ep 4 would still happen! Just some would survive! Rebecca would be found by one of the alphabet trio and turned to save her life. She's wheelchair bound after that. Sam survives but everyone thinks he got too high and doesn't believe him when he talks rambling about Uzis vampire form (Becca keeps it secret bc like if she says something it by extension endangers the other vampires in the school which now includes herself)
Intertwined/Inteetwinjng Codes (Me when I keep going back and forth between both titles) is a next gen AU thing. It started off as a joke,,, oh well
Kids.
Tumblr media
These little shits are twins, they started this whole rabbithole. They would boot up sometime after Ep 4.
Later on their parents would want to program another kid & adopt one. Invert Annika and Zagi, except unexpected thing happened and they now have two babies to upload. Insert Raven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annika is currently undergoing redesign, ignore how basic she looks compared to her siblings lol.
As for the last 2 kids -- they didn't WANT any more, but when being sent to another colony they run into this toddler with a baby, who are being attacked by other DDs so they step in. Whilst they argue with N, Uzi gets the kids to safety. They were gonna keep the kids at their place for that night but Olicia did NOT want to sleep in the same place as a DD & a ton of half DDs -- so Thad gets called at 3am 😭 hes the cool uncle to their kids so yk
Next day it turns out adoption wing is full, so the siblings get passed around Thad, Uzis dad and Nuzi a ton (their own colony got killed so they cant go back there) until Ray gets attached to Nuzi, and you shouldn't separate a baby from its bonded adults. Seeing as he already lost the code related parents, they didn't want to risk further hurting his programming. So the siblings were basically accidentally adopted by Nuzi, despite Olivia not being happy about it at first. But she didn't want to separate from Ray.
That's mostly that. Theres not too much lore tbh. Just a silly half joke AU.
Also I have 6 siblings IRL so I tend to like give my ship kids many siblings 😭 so ignore that fact lol, just projecting
Then theres like 3 more Cyn centric AUs.
2 are pretty small.
DD!Cyn AU that has no name yet is just the AS uploaded a copy of Cyn/the Base Drones conciousness into a DD body and kept her with the trio. That'll lead to major Identity crisis once Cyn realizes technically she's a clone and her memories aren't *hers*. Aside from that: Cyn and J constantly have beef bc of J abusing N, Cyn tries to get her to stop but just faces verbal abuse herself in return :(
Shes also pretty distrusting of Uzi at first bc like!! Nobody except Cyn ever spent time with N!! That's a Drone getting close to her big brother which possibly could hurt him in the long run if she turns out to be like the other teammates!! (She eventually warms up to her)
Then there is Trapped/Hivemind AU. Literally just Cyn trapped in the hivemind, unable to reach her body for control. She can HEAR the other Solver Drones and the DDs, as they're all part of the hivemind. But she can't communicate with them. No matter how hard she tries.
Especially when she hears N she will call out to him but not get a response
So shes probably on the brink of losing it
Then there is "Dormant" Absolute Solver
Originally it was gonna be "The AS lost interest in Cyn as a host" and ig it still kind of is correct-? I need to go back and forth between certain aspects lol
But long story short, Cyn now got a separate body from the AS, doesn't know it killed Tessa & comes to C9 with J & "Tessa". The AS just brought her as a tool to manipulate N with, but she doesn't know that. Cyn joins the group from ep 6 onwards. Yay more PTSD for the child I guess :)
I havent written out ep 6 yet but I think she'd be with N & "Tessa" for that part.
Ep 7 she ends up on the side of the rocks with Uzi, and walks at a distance after being told to basically F off bc Uzi doesn't trust her now but Cyn is scared to be alone. Uzi notices Cyn isn't okay tho.
Tumblr media
(Varian tangled reference yay)
Might I add that seeing Uzis wings and tail in ep 6 would have majorly triggered Cyns PTSD but shes unaware of why she feels so scared. So seeing Uzis tail the whole time definitely adds onto the stress =)
During the fight Uzi would reach out to Cyn through the hivemind, both girls calling out to N through Cyns body. The AS doesn't like that and forcefully shuts Cyn down. It has admin rights over her after all.
By the time Cyn wakes up, the AS is grabbing her to blackmail N after just having eaten Doll. Talking about how he wouldnt want to hurt his baby sister (hes aiming his laser cannon at the AS for context). Then it gets bored, drops Cyn and the regular program ensures. Except Cyn took Tessas gun and shoots herself free from the tentacles and runs to the pit after seeing Nuzi be pulled in. Whilst shes there trying to figure out how to get them back up (seeing as she cant use her Solver on them, or at least not Uzi. The show us so unclear if it works on DDs or not) the scene goes on.
I'm not sure yet who Cyn will stick with, probably N bc I've more ideas. BUT also I'm waiting for episode 8 to decide that for sure. Same with the ending. I got multiple bad ending ideas and also a good ending :) ep 8 will determine which one will be canon :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yeah Cyn lol -- both new and old ref bc of the oil canister I didn't draw in the new one yet. She still has it as you can see by the oil tubes!
Also the Good!Ending DAS!N would run a Daycare post canon. IC!N also runs one. I just like having N work with kids.
Most of these (I think all except DD & Trappsd Cyn) are tagged on my account probably with some more info
Idk if the tags will show up tho bc they don't always for me when searching for them :(
My pinned post has the tags listed I think
I think that was all of them hm (istg if I forgot one 💀)
OKAY THIS ONE'S SUPER IN DEPTH I'M HEAVILY INTRIGUED. MULTIPLE AU'S DUDE!! I LOVE IT, KEEP EM COMING. Loving the ideas behind the swap AU. Putting Sam in Cyn's place is unique, I hadn't heard anyone do that before!! Also the thing about using pink is fair, I did use red but I didn't keep that in mind! A vampire AU's extremely fitting for Murder Drones, being a substitute for the Solver/Disassembly model. Since ep. 4 is my favorite, I love the fact it'd still play out here. Also I must say I REALLY like the next gen AU designs??? I actually kinda wish we saw more next gen stuff, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. Either way I very specifically love Rexim and Raven's designs, I think the color choices are really speaking to me. ALSO ALL THE CYN FANS ARE GONNA BE EATING UP THE CYN-CENTRIC AU'S. But it seems like the poor girl could never catch a break. WONDERFUL WORK ALL AROUND!!

You might be looking at me and going ' I wonder what each of the parts roles are in Moonknight' and well, I have answers.
first and foremost, it's quite common for alters to have roles. Roles can go from parts split to handle abuse / traumatic memories to parts literally split to handle day to day tasks and even more. with that being said, I am going to be explaining what the roles for MK's alters ARE, and giving a brief rundown of what each part does ; these explanations are a mixture of documents I have been given by my psychologist explaining the roles, plus some references from DID-RESEARCH. Lets get into it. Wolf don't read this no spoilers for our watch ok?
Tumblr media
Steven is an Introject ( TV show canon ) + Memory holder / ANP & the current host. canonically in the TV show it's explained that Steven Grant is an introject off an old movie Marc watched a lot as a child called Tomb Buster. I will say, Introjects are usually NOT one / one replicas of characters, but instead parts of a character or even real world person that is comforting or inspiring to the traumatized individual. For instance, Steven in the media was a collected and brave professor who was able to handle the scariest of situations with an analytical mind. Something Marc might've felt he needed in the cycle of abuse that was his childhood home thus the Steven we know as Marc's alter is formed, not entirely as a representation of this character, but as parts that spoke out the most to Marc at that age.
Memory holders can be two different types of alters, those who hold traumatic memories, and those who hold no traumatic memories whatsoever. To quote DID-RESEARCH ' In some cases, memory holders might hold memories of childhood innocence or of being loved by the system’s otherwise abusive or neglectful family. In these latter cases, the memory holder might serve to preserve these memories untainted by memories of trauma or to avoid confronting the system with the pain of what the abuse has cost them. ' sounds familiar doesn't it ? An ANP is short for Apparently Normal Part. they are the grounded parts of the individual that handle daily life, anps act and function as non-traumatized segment and are avoidant to any situations that could potentially be triggering or distressing. ANPS are the most prone to amnesia, anesthesia or even a lack of emotional range. I also believe that Steven was the current host during the run of the TV show, while Marc is the host during most comic portrayals.
Marc is a Persecutor + Ex-Host + Trauma holder. What's a persecutor you may ask, a persecutor is a misguided protector that usually holds self hatred or provide an outlet for internalized abusive / negative messages. They might be reenacting abuse due to the belief that hurting other parts / internalizing negative messages will protect from further or more extreme cases of abuse. it's misguided protection with good intentions. We love persecutors in this household, demonizing persecutors is not allowed here Hosts are pretty simple, they are alters that handle & take care of the day to day life, though through intense trauma & re-triggering / re-traumatizing events it's not uncommon for hosts to switch out their place with other alters, in this instance, I feel that during the time of grief where Marc lost his mother, it basically re-traumatized him, especially revisiting the place where a large amount of his trauma originated from which we see Steven fronting & taking over near the end of episode 5. A trauma holder is the other form of memory holder that I mentioned previously, described as ' alters that hold memories that are usually traumatic in nature so that other alters do not have to be confronted by the memories. ' while alters may experience direct trauma, it is not uncommon for trauma holders to be the ones to have those memories even if they weren't the ones who directly experienced the trauma.
Jake is a Protector ( physical & emotional & verbal )
Protectors are alters that do what their name suggests and protects, not only other parts, but the body as well. I specifically point out Jake being a physical protector due to the times Jake switches in during the show. moments of high stress or danger where the body is being threatened and Marc nor Steven can protect. Physical protectors try and prevent physical trauma / become aggressive in an attempt to defend against physical harm that could be traumatic. Verbal protectors might take verbal abuse or lash back verbally in order to counter verbal abuse. Emotional protectors might take emotional abuse or comfort other parts to soften the effects of emotional abuse.
this also gets tricky, I feel like there is another role I'm missing for Jake due to the fact in the comics Jake is notorious for making friends for moonknight which isn't usually the behavior of a Protector. I would say it could be an ANP leaning behavior, especially since ANPS are again, the socializers but I will have to sit and think.
Tumblr media
I feel like this is getting much too long already so I will stop myself from this getting any longer my ending notes are this : there are also times in the comics where I would lean to Marc being a reformed persecutor leaning into a physical protector, but that's a whole different can of worms. Also this isn't tackling the fragment Marc has in the 2016 run of MK as seen below--

Hi! I used to be neutral on endos, but I read up on the subject and see they're clearly just not a thing. However, I'm a bit lost on how exactly they're harmful.
Like don't get me wrong, they're very misguided, but how does it do harm? Is it only misinformation or is there other reasons?
i don't have the proper lingo or energy to explain, so straight from the why-endos-are-bad carrd:
"Endogenic systems are harmful to the DID/OSDD community in a multitude of ways.
(Note: This section mentions death, stigmatisation, trauma, and other misinformation. Please be careful while you read.)
First of all, they perpetuate dangerous misinformation. Lots of endogenic beliefs are very harmful and stereotyped. The first major issue is that they perpetuate the idea that such a severe disorder can happen in the absence of trauma, which is scientifically impossible according to the theory of structural dissociation. According to the current theory, the mind doesn’t start out as a whole; it starts off as different loose states of being that a child needs to survive. During normal development, these parts integrate into a singular self, but if interrupted by severe¹ traumatic events, DID or OSDD can develop. There is no other reason why someone could experience being a system other than DID/OSDD.
Endogenic systems also tend to perpetuate a lot of harmful misinformation and stigma, further demonising certain roles (persecutors being inherently bad, for example), spouting beliefs that are impossible (alter death, sys-hopping, etc.), and their continued presence on many platforms leads many people to believe that being a system is possible without trauma.
Endogenic systems claiming to have or experience anything similar to a serious trauma disorder is also incredibly devaluing of all the trauma that DID/OSDD systems have gone through. Along with every single one of people with DID/OSDD being traumatised, we’re also incredibly stigmatised and demonised in media². For them to claim any sort of experience like ours is completely disrespectful and it disregards all the hardship DID/OSDD systems go through just for existing.
¹ Severe is subjective. What can be traumatising to one person can be basically nothing to another. ² See: Split."

Raver / Raving alter
[pt: raver or raving alter. end pt]
requested by our system
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A raver is an alter that display aggressive behavior towards the system or/and people outside it. Unlike some interpretations of persecutors, they aren’t trying to help and they aren't ''misguided protectors''. Their nature is destructive or simply careless and act based on their feelings, impulses, urges, desires or believes.
This role is not made to "demonize" persecutors, is a self assigned role that some of our alters use due to them being uncomfortable with the term "misguided protector".

hi just a question bc I'm scrolling tags and blocking triggering blogs and got curious abt yours and read your intros
what's "persecutor discourse"?? like??? what's the discourse????
zero hate intended at any point of this potential conversation btw I'm also just a little stupid and end up coming off as argumentative really easily
You're fine! We don't mind clarifying questions <3
It's basically any discourse to do with Persecutors. It really is just as simple as that. There is a LOT of discourse around them: evil alters, what to do when your persecutor is actually physically harming people or trying to put you in dangerous situations. How to rehabilitate them or even if we should force it. The misinformation about how all Persecutors are just misguided Protectors.
In our experience, there seems to be two stark sides of the argument: 1. Persecutors need to be locked up forcefully until they behave, and 2. Only love and light and happiness will get through to a persecutor, they should never be held accountable only loved into goodness.
There's zero nuance in either of those two options and if you DO have nuance, you tend to have people on either side condemning you for how you treat your Persecutors. We're trying to inject some more nuance and discussion when we see it because we've never seen another role with such disgusting takes on how to treat other alters/parts/headmates and it makes our primary Persecutor angry.

★ . CRUCIFIER
Tumblr media
A crucifier is different from an avenger and inherently persecutory. Crucifiers are typically misguided and seek retribution. They may act bitterly or violently toward others that they believe have wronged them or the system. Headmates that are crucifiers might be antagonistic and aggressive in nature, but aren’t inherently so.
What sets crucifiers apart from avengers is that they take judgement into their own hands and typically respond disproportionately to the situation. They aren’t inherently interested in the safety of the collective and instead operate on their own system of judgement.
Crucifiers can be considered an opposite or parallel to avengers; both roles carry a sense of anger and seek revenge, but crucifiers are inherently persecutors and seek to cause harm to the perpetrator while avengers are inherently protectors and seek to protect the system through their actions.
This behaviour can be exhibited both internally and externally.
The name crucifier comes from the crucifix and ancient torture/murder method of nailing somebody to a cross.
I am comfortable with this term being uploaded onto Pluralpedia, as long as proper credit is given. Message me before uploading it onto any other website.
