Black Gwen Stacy headcanons because duh ofc she is,just watch the movies
Half white afrolatina with George being her white parent and Helen(a)was her black parent
George is a huge racist who was antiblack towards his own daughter and Helena died when Gwen was so little that Gwen knew almost nothing about blackness or latino heritage and it gave her trauma that the other black Spiderpeople helped her heal from
Pretty obviously looks black/white mixed-As in,black features but light. She has black 4c hair, brown eyes, light brown skin and a nose and lips that're bigger than any full white person's but she's not as darkfeatured/strongfeatured as a monoracial black person either
Dominican specifically(she's literally from New York)
Miles instantly recognized her as afrolatina thanks to being afrolatino himself and that leads to extra bonding in Into as Miles teaches her bits from their culture. The basics obvs but also our memes, our shows and our fashion norms and that all gets hint dropped at in the Atsv with Gwen's outfits and jokes having black/latina twists to them(Example:Instead of a stripped shirt, she wore a hot pink tank top with a bedazzeld white heart on it)
This leads to Gwen finally truly feeling black and that's how she ended up forming The Mary Janes by befriending other black kids for the first, second time.It made her quitting the band all that harder and there's callbacks to them as she expresses missing them and she ends up coming back while staying Spiderwoman-She can do both
Into Gwen had straight hair,Across Gwen has locs(Implied hair journey)
Pastel Punk is her way of creating her black girlhood and she's also kidcore because she's audhd too
Margo and her were instant besties.Because Gwen immediately jumped to befriend the nearest black teen girl the second she saw her and Margo accepted her friendliness but also because as they hung out,Gwen realized Margo's got a bad home life too and comforted her about it so now they're ride 'i'm not letting you die' best friends and Gwen and Hobie were like 👀👀👀👀👀 at the lil flirting between her and Miles as background comedy and she used her webs to drag her along with them which Margo reacted to only with an eyeroll and saying she just had to ask(Margo also got her own intro thingy)
Gwen the second she met an older black woman:MOM🥺?!
No but 'Adopt me' is so sweet with black Gwen-In canon it's funny and cute but this adds layers to it.Jessica mentors her in being Spiderwoman AND in being a black girl and Gwen does her best to pay her back by trying to make her feel like more than just her caretaker and teacher but as a hero in her own right and someone she considers a friend. She frequently diy's her gifts and excitedly shows them to her and Jessica thanks her with smiles and physical affection and keeps all of them and eventually gifts her silver hoop earrings with pink pendants
Her behavior at the Morales household was because she's afrolatina but not raised in the culture and that's the joke with Jefferson and Rio being baffled at a black girl not knowing she was being rude with those things despite being great otherwise(Rio makes a lighthearted jab at her for being mixed. She has biracial girl slay AND biracial girl cringe /hj)
'Half of who i am' is a TRIPLE entendre-It's about her being Spiderwoman,a trans girl AND black biracial. She also cuts George out of her life as a lesson to mixed kids about how they don't have to love their racist white parents JUST BECAUSE they're their parents and she pretends to accept him again just to get him close enough to beat his ass and says 'You're not a good dad because good cops don't exist. You're just my canon event-So die instead of me' and leaves him heartbroken to go back to Jessica since she's accepted her as her daughter
She listens to Meet me @ the Altar,Selena,Teezo Touchdown,Flowerovlove and Megan Thee Stallion and does covers, has glossy lips as her daily makeup look, owns a name necklace, her favorite foods are galletas con suspiro and pechurina and flan and strawberry Nesquick, she dosen't use too much aave just yet cause she's still learning but as she grows she makes it her regular speech pattern, sadly has significant amount of hair damage from her childhood(thanks for nothing George /s),gets gender euphoria from black pastel and/or punk girl aesthetics, black mermaids and black women in horror
Because of the last part, her chosen middle name is Marina since it's sea themed
More Margo expansion:Her parents are a toxic couple who don't hate her, just eachother but they let that overpower their love for her by extensively exposing her to it due to intergenerational trauma.Margo didn't have an irl friends before the Spiderband and she was different from a lot of black kids too so she didn't have refuge in them either and that's why her and Gwen(+ Miles and Hobie)love eachother so much and she got Gwen into video games like how Gwen got her into legos and Gwen guided her into coping mechanisms for a bad home life and promised her she'd get out one day but in a safer way than she did. They also got matching grills at one point and are a matched set in general who have eachother twin on everything,do NOT seperate them /lh
Black Love Ghostpunk aka the only valid romantic Ghostpunk aka MY canon Ghostpunk. They met Bubbline style at one of Hobie's show's where Gwen thought he was super hot and made a weird ass dork of herself but Hobie's autistic ass found THAT super hot so he brought her up on stage to sing with him as a ref to that one concept art and she recognized him the next day at Spider Society, realizing he was Spiderpunk i.e that kid Jessica mentored too that she'd yet to meet cause he was always busy. She ran after him and introduced herself as the girl from last night.Hobie was surprised and she reached out to unmask him subcounciously so he did the same, smirking as he said 'Eager to see your pretty face again too,Gwendita' and she linked arms with him once they got a good look at eachother again as they chatted and kept walking together
So from that day on,they became best friends with crushes on eachother they never thought to hide and Hobie taught more her about punk culture, specifically afropunk and convinced her to dye her hair, which is how they had their first kiss. His hands had pink dye on them and he was leaning over her to organize things so she couldn't resist and kissed him,it being prompted by the morning of that day when Hobie said he'd never actually kissed anyone on the lips as he gave Gwen a good morning peck on the cheek and Gwen wanting to be his first. He was shocked as she let out a quick and short apology and hid her face behind her hair but he told her to do it again and she gladly did as it turned into him taking the lead
They say sappy and cutesy and just random shit to and about eachother with no shame,do haircare together,he helped her make her own battle jacket and added a Gwen-themed patch to his own,she calls him 'Hubbie' as a play on 'Hobie'(and 'Gwendita' is spanish for 'Gwendy' but cheesier)and taught him to skateboard and make dominican food, she stands up for him and has his back against his enemies and even Miguel when he gets a lil too bold despite being scared shitless of him,he takes care of her a lot like a good boyfriend does and she returns the favor and actually started this part of their relathionship which is what prompted him to treat her the way he does now,she wears Hobie's shirts as night gowns and diy'd him a blue durag with punk designs and he does pastel transfemme things with her i.e Playing pirated video games, drinking energy drinks, wearing cunty girly outfits, etc.Gwen's also a lot more brutal in her Spiderwoman tactics and started going to protests and donating to charity with her saved up money by Hobie-induced radicalization
Also genuinely not intentional but i'm convinced Hobie loves the sea a lot and Gwen's got major mermaid vibes so i mean-
Flowerbyte's wingwoman who tries to get them together by dropping hints and giving advice disguised as regular friend convos. She's basically Miles' big sister who teases her little brother about finally getting a girlfriend and he teases her about Hobie back but not nearly as effectively because at least they're officially together instead of going on totally not dates
"She's just lightskinned" < Running joke one of my black Atsv moot's who's Gwen's age keeps making

Inspired by @thatscarletflycatcher's list of actors who have appeared in multiple Jane Austen adaptations, I've made a list of actors who have appeared in two or more adaptations of Brontë novels. I've covered all three of the sisters' books and included radio dramas as well as screen and stage adaptations.
*Timothy Dalton played Heathcliff in the 1970 Wuthering Heights film and Rochester in the 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries.
*Toby Stephens played Gilbert Markham in the 1996 Tenant of Wildfell Hall miniseries and Rochester in the 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries.
*Tara Fitzgerald went from playing Toby Stephens' love interest to playing his love interest's childhood abuser – Helen Graham in the 1996 Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Mrs. Reed in the 2006 Jane Eyre.
*John Duttine holds the distinction of having played both Heathcliff and Hindley Earnshaw in different Wuthering Heights adaptations: Hindley in the 1978 miniseries, Heathcliff in the 1995 radio drama.
*Amanda Root played Catherine Earnshaw in the 1995 Wuthering Heights radio drama and (showing her versatility) Miss Temple in the 1996 Jane Eyre film, as well as narrating the 2004 Naxos audiobook of Jane Eyre.
*Emma Fielding is heard in both the 1995 and 2018 radio dramas of Wuthering Heights: as Catherine Linton in 1995 and as Nelly Dean in 2018. She also narrates the 1996 Naxos audiobook of Jane Eyre.
*Geoffrey Whithead played St. John Rivers in the 1973 Jane Eyre miniseries and Mr. Linton in the 1995 Wuthering Heights radio drama.
*Jean Harvey appeared in both the 1973 and 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries: as Mrs. Reed in 1973 and as Mrs. Fairfax in 1983.
*Judy Cornwell played Nelly Dean in the 1970 Wuthering Heights and Mrs. Reed in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*David Robb played the Count de Hamal in the 1970 Villette miniseries and Edgar Linton in the 1978 Wuthering Heights miniseries.
*Bryan Marshall played Gilbert Markham in the 1968 Tenant of Wildfell Hall miniseries and Dr. John Graham Bretton in the 1970 Villette miniseries.
*Sarah Smart played Catherine Linton in the 1998 Masterpiece Theatre Wuthering Heights, and Carol Bolton, the female Heathcliff character, in the 2002 TV film Sparkhouse, a modernized, gender-flipped retelling of Wuthering Heights.
*Holliday Grainger played Lisa Bolton, the female Hareton/Linton composite character in Sparkhouse, and Diana Rivers in the 2011 Jane Eyre film.
*Sophie Ward played Isabella Linton in the 1992 Wuthering Heights film and Lady Ingram in the 2011 Jane Eyre.
*Morag Hood played Frances Earnshaw in the 1970 Wuthering Heights and Mary Rivers in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*Jean Anderson played Nelly Dean in the 1963 TV version of Wuthering Heights and Mrs. Maxwell in the 1968 Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
*Barbara Keogh played two unpleasant Brontë maidservants: Zillah in the 1978 Wuthering Heights and Miss Abbot in the 1997 TV film of Jane Eyre.
*Norman Rutherford played the lawyer Mr. Green in the 1978 Wuthering Heights and Sir George Lynn in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*Anna Bentinck narrated the 2015 Dreamscape Media audiobooks of both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.
*Janet McTeer played Nelly Dean in the 1992 Wuthering Heights film and reprised the role as co-narrator of the 2006 Naxos audiobook (she reading Nelly's narration, David Timson reading Lockwood's).
*Edward de Souza played Mr. Mason in two different adaptations of Jane Eyre: the 1973 miniseries and the 1996 film.
Adding Brontë family members and friends into the mix:
*Ida Lupino played Isabella Linton in the Lux Radio Theatre's 1939 adaptation of Wuthering Heights based on the 1939 film, and Emily Brontë herself in the 1946 film Devotion.
*Chloe Pirrie played Emily Brontë in the 2016 TV film To Walk Invisible and Catherine Earnshaw in the 2018 Wuthering Heights radio drama.
*Ann Penfold played Polly Home in the 1970 Villette miniseries and Anne Bontë in the 1973 miniseries The Brontës of Haworth.
*Gemma Jones played Mrs. Fairfax in the 1997 Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Branwell in the 2022 film Emily.
*Richard Kay played William Weightman in The Brontës of Haworth and Lockwood in the 1978 Wuthering Heights.
*Megan Parkinson played Catherine Earnshaw in the 2015 Ambassador Theatre stage adaptation of Wuthering Heights and Martha Brown in To Walk Invisible.
*Susan Brodrick played a barmaid in The Brontës of Haworth and Mary Rivers in the 1973 Jane Eyre.
I'm sure there are plenty more, but this list is long enough for now.

Tumblr media
Family Bond (blood-related):
Maria is Ben's older sister whom he hasn't seen in years after his death. He still misses his sister deeply and Maria misses her little brother and even named a son after him.
Sam and Sally are cousins but they have a complicated relationship.
Lazari and Stripes are stepsisters but they don't get along very well.
Jeff and Liu are brothers and they still love each other no matter what.
Sully is Liu's younger twin brother. While Sully still loves his older twin, Liu doesn't like Sully as he used to due to him finding out how cruel he was towards Jeff.
Jeff is Sully's younger brother. While Jeff somewhat still loves his older brother even though he was one of the main reasons he would snap, Sully basically has disowned Jeff by now. Sully even wishes Jeff would go to hell for killing their parents and even calls him "a curse to the family".
Dawn is the Woods' only sister. She and Sully used to be close but now they're estranged after Sully got Dawn kicked out of the Jeff Hunters. Dawn has a complicated relationship with Jeff due to Jeff nearly killing her (even though it wasn't his fault he snapped). She is still close with Liu and often tells Liu that they should just quit the Slender Pact and get out of town.
Eyeless Jack and Lulu are siblings (even though neither of them are aware of it).
Lauren is Vailly's cousin.
Tumblr media
Family Bonds (not blood related):
Sally and Ben have a sister-brother like relationship.
Puppeteer and Emra are Sadie's and Zero's adoptive parents, making Sadie and Zero adoptive siblings.
Nina thinks of Jeff as her second little brother (she has known Jeff ever since Jeff was basically in diapers) and she thinks Liu as her older brother. Jeff affectionately calls Nina "Ni" as a result. Liu would sometimes call Nina "little sister".
CR and Kate have a sibling bond ever since they met in elementary school.
Lulu, Sally (I forgot to put her line there my mistake), Ben, and Dollmaker (she is a teenager in my AU) all think Jeff as their big brother and they love to play with him.
Vailly, Lauren, X-Virus, and Chris basically think of Jeff as the little brother they never got.
Nurse Ann is Dollmaker's adoptive mother.
Liu thinks of Ben and Sally as his younger siblings and would sometimes like to play with them.
Toby and Cody have a brotherly bond.
Sally and Nina are adoptive siblings though they have that love-hate relationship.
Lazari and Lulu used to have a sisterly bond but ever since Lazari left to go work for her father, they haven't been as close as they were before.

Kate thinks Toby as her close friend and nothing more.
Mary and Jane are close friends with Sully. Jane is close friends with Sully due to their mutual hatred against Jeff while Mary has known Sully ever since college.

EJ was basically as the first friend Jeff made when he first joined the Slender Pact and the two have been close ever since then.

Liu has a one-sided crush on Toby while Toby doesn't feel the same way due to his one-sided crush on Kate.
X-Virus is currently dating Doctor Locklear (note: Doctor Locklear is immortal in my AU)
Lazari has a one-sided crush on EJ.
Jane and Mary are currently married.
Emra and Puppeteer are married.

Judge Angels is currently dating Bloody Painter even though Bloody Painter is cheating on her for his college lover, Sully (she is not aware of it).

Tumblr media

Do you have any book recommendations for the Jane Austen fan who's read every one of her books?
DO I EVER.
Okay, it really depends on your preferences and what you're looking for. If you want to read things that were part of the background noise when Austen started writing and have similar concerns, you might look at things like Frances Burney's Evelina, Charlotte Lennox's The Female Quixote, The Italian or (more famously) The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe, or going a little further afield, William Godwin's Caleb Williams, Mary Wollstonecraft's Maria (or, for non-fiction, "Vindication of the Rights of Woman"), Sarah Scott's Millenium Hall, or various novels of Henry Fielding (I like Jonathan Wild, though it's quite different).
If you want to go nineteenth rather than eighteenth century, you can look at someone like Maria Edgeworth (also mentioned in NA!). Jumping ahead, Emily Eden is clearly an Austen fan (she gives P&P a shout-out in The Semi-Attached Couple, which is significantly different but obviously influenced by Austen). Frances Trollope's One Fault gives a very clear idea of why Elizabeth Bennet was so concerned about good nature as well as basic virtue (it's essentially about psychological abuse). There are the big names like George Eliot and the Brontës (Anne Brontë's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is my personal favorite and probably the most akin to Austen of any of them).
If you want to read on Jane Austen, some faves:
Jane Austen and the Fabric of Dialogue by Howard S. Babb is from the 60s, so you may want to take some of it with a grain of salt, but I've always found it really interesting and engaging.
Even earlier, there's Fields of Light by Reuben A. Brower (1951), which I had to save to track down years ago, but which apparently has been republished since. There's a chapter on Austen that's really good IMO.
I like most of Julia Prewitt Brown's work on Austen, though I have a particular fondness for "The Feminist Depreciation of Jane Austen," which is basically a 90s-era guided tour through (and breakdown of) bad takes that had been filtered through a narrow sort of feminism.
I'm really fond of some of John Wiltshire's interpretations in Recreating Jane Austen. This is also from the 90s, iirc, so it doesn't address later adaptations, but he also was a co-author of the later (2009) The Cinematic Jane Austen, in which he expanded his essay on Darcy's smile and its minimization in adaptations (not where I got my gripe over it, but validating to see someone talk about it!).
Persuasions (Jane Austen literary journal): it's a bit hit and miss, but there are some very good articles that can only really be found there. I own a few volumes of it and have used them repeatedly.
The Gentleman's Daughter by Amanda Vickery: this gives more of a historical context leading up to Austen's time that periodically references Austen, but can be useful!

JACKPOT
Pairings: Gwen Stacy/Em Jay Watson
Characters: Gwen Stacy (Earth 65), Em Jay Watson (Earth 65), Betty Brant (Earth 65), Glory Grant (Earth 65
Words: 7014
AO3: link
NSFW 18+
Summary:
It's like any other day for the four members of The Mary Janes. Of course, Gwen Stacy is late as usual, and after a lacklustre performance on the drums, Mary Jane Watson takes it upon herself to confront Gwen on some suspicions she's been having lately,
EARTH 65γ
CHELSEA - NEW YORK
Being a workaholic vigilante isn't always the most convenient. Don't get me wrong, it's one of life's greatest pleasures to fly high above the city you and hundreds of others call home. To battle against eight-limbed physicists and electronic engineers with wingspans the size of her apartment, it was all so thrilling for the one and only Spider-Woman! Otherwise known as the beautiful punk-rock Ms. Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy. I'm sure you know the rest - a grizzled old cop always one step behind catching her, a normal school life at the luxurious Midtown High, and of course, her band; the Mary Janes. Well, to say it was Gwen's band wouldn't exactly be one-hundred percent honest, but as a co-founder and drummer, she had found quite a home with the quintet, when not narrowly escaping death in spandex of course… Oh well, it's not like she could complain all that much, after just a few more months she would finally be out of the prison called highschool, she was just finishing up her last year actually. What that meant for the band was up in the air, but maybe that was for the best, y'know? She had missed- ah, how many practice sessions now? Five- no, six! To say she didn't occasionally catch the dirty looks sent her way by the three wardens of punk would be… a lie. Look, it's not like she wanted to quit- things were just complicated. Gwen Stacy adored being in a band, it's been one a huge dream since she was tiny! But- with great responsibility, and yada yada, so…
Gwen Stacy was often late.
Just as grass is green and the sky is blue, these are facts of life- even on a day like today, where well after school hours have ended, The Mary Jane's had reserved the gymnasium for practice- better acoustics and all. Even from outside across track and field the sounds of Mary Jane's ear-bursting choir echoed out. After arriving more than twenty minutes after she was supposed to with bruises aplenty to show for it, Gwen had made her appearance and was half-heartedly playing along the beat of the song; sometimes late, sometimes dragging- to any of the others it was clear she was just somewhere else. Platinum blond hair bouncing up with each smack of sticks against cymbals, her foot nearly breaking the pedal being forced down in a syncopated rhythm. It was truly a testament to the quality of a group like The Mary Jane's if even like this, they still kicked complete and utter ass! The group's drummer would be given no break for her lacklustre performance, however. Even before the sounds of her cymbals faded out, Glory's sigh seemed to cut through it all. Both she and Gwen hadn't ever really spoken outside of this whole band thing, and as you can imagine that left things awfully tense from time to time.
"Should we go again?" Big bad Betty was the first to speak up after the echoing silence of the band's less than stellar performance, with a choice of clothes like that of Adam Sandler and a… strange choice of women - Gloria, of course - She and Gwen got along well enough, even sharing a glance as a droplet of sweat found itself just passing the side of her eye, finding herself a but too into her own drumming- no matter how kick-ass it may be.
Glory's eyes shifted to that of her beloved whilst the band's voice of reason leaned down over her own keyboard. "I don't know." She stated cynically, glancing over to Gwen with deep maroon eyes. "Especially when our drummer is dragging every other note." Was that a jab at her? Gwen thought. "I mean, dude." The pair's eyes made contact across the stage facing an empty crowd. Gwen's lips trembled just as they started to ready a response. As if she could talk, right? Luckily for the two girls though, the fourth member of their quintet decided to join.
"Hey, what did we say about arguing?" There she was, Mary Jane Watson. Who was once the prettiest, preppiest girl in school had now become an utter sensation in the rock scene… she's also one of Gwen Stacy's very best friends. With a twirl of her fiery scarlet afro, catching glances at both the vigilante, as well as the group's guitarist. "Gwen." Mary Jane, or Em Jay as she was called by the others leaned in on her mike, staring into the Spider-Woman's shining sapphires with matching jades for a moment that felt to drag on for hours. "You alright?"
While Gloria was annoyed, their lead vocalist seemed more concerned. It made sense at least, she was always late- sometimes coming in with bruises across pale white arms, black eyes, usually out of breath… Em Jay didn't think she was on drugs or something, did she?! The Hero thought to herself, swallowing a wad of spit before speaking up again. "Yeah- yeah, of course." Gwen cleared her throat, shuffling her stool further forward into her drumset with both hands occupied by the matching sticks. "I'm feeling Great." This was obviously a lie, even to Em Jay, who didn't say a word; at least not at first. The redhead simply let out a little scoff, smile included, as those glimmering emeralds turned away from the Spider-Woman, all with a slight sly smirk. "Let's go again-" the drummer spoke with a tinge of worry in her voice, both eyes darting around the stage to the trio of others.
"Appreciate the enthusiasm, but let's take five."
Mary Jane breathed a hearty sigh, turning to the rest of the band; Glory, Betty, and of course, Gwen. The last of which was sitting awkwardly on that uncomfortable hard oak stool that the school had been so generous to let them use during practice. Gwen felt a tinge of sweat run down the side of her temple, keeping both hands close, sitting still over her lap. Speaking of which, Gwendolyn Stacy was never one for- let's say overly dressing up, especially not for simple little rehearsals and practices. Between a tartan plaid skirt, black leggings stretching high and low- hell, the woman was basically made of legs - and a simple long-sleeved grey top - one decorated with the logo of a licensed brand over her left breast. It wasn't much, sure- but you try having some hella stylish outfits when doing a job like hers! She needed something easy to slip in and out of.
"Hey Gwen?" Once more, Em Jay spoke up, stretching out in an azure tank top, well- it was made as one from how she twisted and tied it to reveal her stomach, as well as a pair of well-fitting hot pink pants… god, Gwen wished she could be as confident as that. These thoughts were interrupted as the lead voice of the band continued on. "You mind grabbing a towel for us?" The group's namesake asked with visible sweat sweeping down her face. It seemed like Gwen wasn't the only one. That was good.
"Oh, uh- sure." She did feel a tad like a towel-boy for obvious reasons, but it's not like Gwen was going to take it personally. Standing up from the oak seat, it grinded against the stairs causing an echoing creek. When it came to Midtown High's gymnasium - just to the left were two changing rooms - one for the boys, and one for the girls. At this time of day, it hardly mattered very much. The only ones still at the school were faculty and of course the four of them. That being said, there shouldn't be any trouble with her going into the girls changing room for this, right? I mean, why would there be? With a small huff from jumping down the stage, Gwendolyn made her way towards the two rooms, unbeknownst to her with a pair of eyes following each step.
The walls were covered in a peeling pink paint, the ground covered in small drains and a number of showers lined up past some lockers. Typically there was always a couple of clean towels left on these hooks typically meant for bags and blazers. This was routine for Gwen- or the group at the very least. If it wasn't her going to get them, then it was Betty or sometimes Gloria… Gwen had to wonder though. Was she really spending her time wisely here? Spending her time practising with girls that didn't seem to like her all that much, well- other than Em Jay. Right now, while they were relaxing and talking she could be out there saving lives! For every moment she's not Spider-Woman, there's someone who needs saving- and who's gonna be the one to save them, The Avengers? Please, when did they ever care about what happened to the people in the city? Felicia was hardly the most heroic, so who was left? The police?! Against mad armies of lizard-people and ninja-army mafias? Gwen didn't think so… after grabbing the least damp towel in the room, she was about to make her way back to the others, all up until…
Click.
The entrance creaked open, and thusly shut and like any normal person would, Gwen moved away from the many hooks and lockers to get a view of the entryway only to see herself greeted by someone. With crossed arms and freckled golden skin, Mary Jane Watson stood between Gwen Stacy and the door back to their temporary set up out in the gym hall. Gwen clutched the towel with both hands as the pair stood in silence for a moment or three. Giving a small wave, greeting her friend with a lighthearted and yet curious, "Hey?" only to clear out her throat with a small grunt, staring the… surprisingly tall woman in the eyes once more. "Is everything-... Alright?" After all, what possible reason would she have to come speak to her alone in here? She was gone less than a minute.
What Gwen didn't notice straight away was that in crossed arms, Em Jay was clutching something by a long strap. "Well, you tell me." To Gwen's confusion, the vocalist threw the item towards Gwen, and what was it, I hear you asking? Well it was a backpack- one a sort of camouflage-ish green- a few different compartments, all packed with who knows what, and some pins too. One for the Mary Janes, a pastel pin with coloured columns of pink, white and blue, and finally one of a little black cat- a symbol of Ms. Felicia Hardy and her pop-funk career, when she wasn't out stealing valuables. This is when it dropped on Gwen, staring down at the packed bag at her feet…
This was hers.
Not only was it hers, but one of the zippers was open… and in Em Jay's show catapult of the item - not only did her notebooks and pens make contact with the damp floor - but a bug-eyed mask did too, one with hot pink outlines and a uniquely solid white mask, staring straight back at Gwen. Her eyes now wide with a look of urgency, turning back towards Mary Jane. "I thought something was up…" Em Jay's words cut through the air like a knife, taking long, echoing steps towards the much shorter superpowered girl, looking up with dilated pupils. "Spider-Woman though-... Well, that's something else." She scoffed, acting all high and mighty to little Ms. Stacy.
"That's- that, that's not mine." Gwen stammered, forcing her gaze away from Em Jay. Either the room was beginning to heat up or the stress may have started to set in on her, sweat falling down just past her ear while her voice stuttered trying to get out an explanation. "It's just a-"
"Oh- Bull. Shit, Gwen." Em Jay rolled her eyes, causing a more visceral reaction from the panicked vigilante.
"Wh- What the fuck are you doing?!" She snapped quickly back. "Going through my stuff like this!" She took a step closer- maybe to try and achieve some kind of intimidation or advantage here- but as it would seem… Gwen was around 5'6" give or take a couple of inches depending on the day- while Mary Jane was… somewhere over six foot. This tactic of intimidation was turned back on its head as without even a pause, Em took a step towards her too- immediately causing Gwen to back up into the pink-painted wall next to sets of bacteria-filled tiles, Em Jay's legs standing between the bag revealing all of Gwen's secrets.
"Shhh…" The redhead replied quickly after, holding a finger up to Gwen's mouth. "Don't be too loud… Glory and Betty are just through that door, you know." Was she… smiling? What kind of enjoyment could this girl possibly be getting out of this?! Still- as smug as she was, Em Jay was right about that. She would need to keep her voice down. "Calm it, Stacy." Gwen's heart was beating faster than it ever should be, and that worry was reflected in her facial expression.
"No! You think I'm just gonna be cool with-" In a flash, Gwen was interrupted. Warm hands with decorated crimson nails took hold of her cheeks, not even letting the girl finish before Em interrupted once again.
"Oh face it, Tiger…"
Her words were quiet, methodical. Like she had rehearsed all this- yet someone like Em Jay wouldn't need too. Her mystique comes so naturally, she's so cool without even trying, and with a grasp around Gwen's face, the de facto leader of the band held Gwen up till she was standing on her tip-toes, and pulled her in close. Gwen hardly even understood what was going on until her lips were drenched with the redhead's saliva. Her eyes bulged wide, and groans were made for moments while Em Jay held a tight grip on Gwen. She didn't want to say that she kissed back but that would be hard to say. Their mouths were open wide while this act was committed, the Spider-Woman's face turning a nasty shade of red, all the while breaths were hard to get in, while Gwen's groans and moans became all the less frequent while Em's curious tongue explored the recesses of her mouth, forcing her lips apart and slobbering over her top. It could have lasted hours, or it could have lasted seconds - but nonetheless, as Em Jay separated, Gwen breathed in deep- still with trails of spit and saliva keeping the two connected, all until Mary Jane wiped them away. Gwen's mind was utterly filled with questions and confusion- her heart rate off the charts and breathing infrequent. She was finally allowed to stand on her own two feet normally, but not before Em kept that firm grasp around her chin, forcing the vigilante to stare up at a disgustingly beautiful woman licking away the Spider-Woman's own spit from her own lips.
"You just hit the jackpot…"
Em Jay looked so proud of herself, all the while Gwen stayed in shock, staring up at the redhead with such a firm grasp around her chin. She was utterly frozen even after they separated, feeling Mary Jane's fingers run past her cheek and move onto her hair- sliding some behind her ear. Gwen was… confused. She hardly understood what had just taken place. Gulping, not just her own spit - but the vocalists too. "Wh-... What?" God, Gwen sounded absolutely exasperated, and from just a kiss too? Gwen was certain she wasn't imagining it anymore, the air must have gotten hotter, right? Why else would her face be so blisteringly red hot… still with the fresh taste of Mary Jane on her lips.
Em scoffed again, actively shadowing Gwen all the while. "What's the matter?" Was she being rhetorical?! Gwen thought to herself… "First kiss?" She laughed, saying it as a… joke?
…fuck.
There was silence between the pair, Gwen utterly unable to keep any sort of eye contact anymore - especially after being called out like that from a girl as… tall and- pretty as Em Jay. "...Sh- Shut up…" Gwen mumbled. Fuck, what was her probelm?! She was supposed to be a crime-fighting badass! Not crumbling to a kiss! Felicia's advances never made her feel anything like this- even if they were more playful but-... This lit a fire in Gwen, one she couldn't at all describe.
Em's face turned to genuine surprise, letting out a gentle and short laugh. "Aw, I'm sorry…" That hardly sounded genuine. "Did I steal the Spider-Woman's first kiss?" Gwen was ready to crumble from her voice. The low tone, how quiet she kept herself, the gaps between words… What was this feeling?
"Fuck you…" Gwen clearly wasn't all that good at this. Leading only to Em's laughs to transform into a crescendo of embarrassment for the young hero.
"You wish." Mary Jane managed to push Gwen further and further back- all until her entire body was up against a back wall. Her shirt stained with spit and face absolutely pink all over. Even her mouth was covered in Em Jay's own maroon lipstick, standing out like a sore thumb. She leaned in close, Gwen's face covered in the giant fluff of red hair, and the smell of strawberries, all the while Em spoke quietly into her ear. "C'mon, don't get pouty with me…" A hand with indents from years playing guitar made its way down to Gwen's covered thigh, one protected with a thin layer of black leggins, slowly making its way up and raising Gwen's skirt. "I bet superhero-ing doesn't leave a whole lot of time to yourself, huh?"
Gwen let out a sigh, trying her best - and struggling - to keep her cool through all of this. "It's- part of the job…" She sniffled, her flushed face becoming a deepening red whilst Em made her way further up her thigh.
"Aw… well, I guess I can excuse it if you're late every now and then." Her teasing was relentless, though that did make Gwen feel a little better, leaving the two to share a small smile… god, what was she doing? Gwen could've stopped this all at any point but she didn't. She's been staying here and letting Mary Jane touch her absolutely wherever she wants… all the while in the room just next to them were their two bandmates. It felt wrong, and yet she chose not to stop it. "God, I own merch of you, y'know." Em chuckled, trailing circles around Gwen's thighs - getting higher and higher up.
As it so happens, any merchandise of Spider-Woman is not endorsed by Gwen - nor does she receive any financial compensation at all, which… stung. "I'm honoured." Gwen mumbled out sarcastically, feeling Em's warm breath on her face as the two stood inches apart… When she was so up close like this, it was hard not to acknowledge not only Em Jay's height- but her strength too… She wasn't exactly ripped, but the girl had plenty of muscle, something Gwen took a very apparent mental note of, even if she still struggled to look Em in the eyes.
Em Jay let out a light scoff. "As you should be." She responded playfully, giggling along as her gentle grazing up Gwen's leg turned into a firm grasp in her upper thighs - causing an audible squeak from the poor girl. Her skirt was halfway covering Em Jay's arm as the vocalist held tight. Any sort of control that Gwen found through her comments of sarcasm became null and void the second her body squeaked from getting grabbed like a dog's toy.
"Okay-" Gwen stuttered out. "Okay, okayokayokay-" She hardly got out through such constant and heaving breaths.. Em's smug smile was a constant. She thinks that just because she's beautiful that she can get away with this?! Oh… Gwen may have been acting reserved, but with something like this, her heart was bursting out of her chest. Em Jay and her had been friends since-... Hell, diapers. They all went to the same preschool, and with Em being Pete's neighbour that's sorta just how their friendship came to be… though, Gwen has always known Em to be reserved. Maybe a little spur of the moment, but never something like this! What if Betty or- god forbid Gloria come to check on them?! Yet if she was so concerned why was she sat here with trembling knees, allowing the free hand of the adusk-skinned girl to move her neck to the side, lean in deep; covering Gwen's face with the neverending scarlet locks, all scented with strawberry, and allow her to bite deep into Gwen's sensitive, porcelain skin. Whimpering with shaking legs, both of Gwen's arms had to wrap around the taller girl for support, shutting both eyes and becoming lost in her scent while the itching pain and pleasure of her teeth mixed into one. "Em-..." Gwen barely muttered out, almost slobbering from just a few little bites.
"God, you bruise like a peach-"
Well hell, it's not like she was wrong. With a complexion like Gwen's, it's to be expected. Em Jay's bites stood out like raspberry marks over her sensitive-skinned neck. From the looks of it, that was a particularly sensitive spot for Gwen- who at the moment was trying her very best to keep her cool, staring into Em's seafoam eyes, the sort that put the poor girl under a spell. Maybe it was the atmosphere of this-... Highschool changing room? Or all the more likely it could just be Em Jay. She was able to push every single one of Gwen's buttons like this… she leaned back; getting a view at the heavy-breathing drummer and her beautifully marked neck, smiling at her work- still with a hand beneath her skirt… etching… further and further towards Gwen's-
…FUCK!
She froze once again, a shock running up and down her body as the callous hands of Em Jay finally made contact. It throbbed through her leggings and pants, desperately begging for the redhead's attention, whilst her thumb ran up and down the double-layered womanhood of Spider-Woman. "That's- that's not-" Whatever desperate excuse the young woman was trying to come up with for this member of hers was ultimately useless as Em's smile only widened. Keeping herself only inches from Gwen's own lips.
Gwen, even now - was literally under her thumb - both hands still clutching tightly onto Em Jay's arctic top. She was shaking from the way Em's toughened hands travelled up and down in such a rhythmic fashion. Her heart was in her mouth while this took place. Not wanting to say a word- just in case she stopped- god, don't stop… those thoughts echoed out loudly in Gwen's head as she thrust her thighs forward only a few inches, bringing them back in after… all for just that bit more of sensation - whilst fabrics kept her utterly trapped. She thoroughly messed around with Gwen for longer than she had any right to - knowing full well just what she was doing, with each finger trailing its way down the side of this pointing growth, Gwen becoming ever more desperate while only letting out small whimpers for the broad singer all the while.
"You're cute." Em joked, keeping the shorter woman clutched on for dear life as she teased her through those leggings… speaking of the leggings; both of Em's hands wandered up near the top of her skirt, getting a grip around the set of dark stockings and slowly revealing Gwen's pretty-pink pants. They were frilly- matching with her bra of course, and believe it or not excellent for tucking… though that aspect didn't shine through, as her entire member was almost all visible up till Em forced those down too- revealing a leaking, throbbing manifestation made from all of Gwen's love and lust poking and grinding against the denim of Em Jay's hot pink chaps, leaking herself on the larger woman. She pulled down both layers till they reached the floor, a spot Em would take too. Gwen didn't quite realise exactly what was happening until Em was on her knees in this damp changing room, sitting before Spider-Woman and her utterly desperate prick. Just a few minutes ago Gwen was berating her and now this?! The perversion of it all and just how natural it was for Em, she had to wonder just how common of an occurrence this was… maybe it's best left not to think about- especially as her perfectly methodical hands began to run up and down Gwen's dripping shaft, fit with hearty breaths from the pierced hero. "Jesus Christ…" She seemed surprised, her eyes moving from the desperate shaft up to a desperate hero. "You seriously are a virgin, huh."
"Th- THAT is not what I said!" Gwen's blossoming pink cheeks flourished once again, her pale hand making contact with the comparatively much more tawny skin of Em.
"Yeah, but it's what you meant!" The vocalist laughed out, having to stop herself under the worry that their bandmates would hear, covering her own mouth under stifled laughs, her teasing hand perpetually leaving the vigilante wanting so much more.
"Still, it's surprising…" Em's low tone was heard once again, as her hand stopped pleasuring the pleading member of the drummer, only to lean in beneath it - shadowing over her face as she allowed Gwen's womanhood to cover one of her own eyes - taking in everything about it - the size, texture, smell… even pecking the underside, leaving to an understandable reaction of twitching. "You'd think everyone would be lining up to get dicked down by Spider-Woman…"
Fuck! Fuckfuckfuck, Gwen couldn't deal with this. She had to cover her mouth out of the pure shock of hearing that. Sure, Em could be a little profane sometimes but… nothing like that. It was as if she knew just what to say to hit deep into Gwen's soul. "Well, it sounds dumb if you say it like that-" Gwen pouted in embarrassment.
"I don't think it's dumb..."
She smiled wide, her voice barely audible, clearly in this almost entirely for Gwen's reactions… or maybe she just had a thing for superheroes. No matter the reason, Em Jay ran her tongue over her maroon lipstick, whilst a little over five inches of Gwen lined itself up with her mouth - all the while they kept eye contact, the sensual, seductive, tempting eyes of Mary Jane staring deep into her own soul as she lunged down like a predator onto its prey, overtaking all of the poor girl till there was absolutely nothing left. The sounds from Gwen could hardly be contained - forcefully covering her own mouth as a harmony of pleasure made its way through, muffled to hell and back.
Gwen's legs were shaking as the band's vocalist drooled on the marble floor under her… a hand found itself in the endless abyss of Em's hair, holding her eyes up to make contact with her all the way through this. She sounded like a pornstar and looked like a goddess, knowing exactly what would turn Gwen into a complete mess. You could tell the confidence boost that the redhead was getting from this, down on her knees giving head to Spider-Woman? It's hardly something that most people could say… actually/ she's the only one that could say it. Em kept both hands firmly grasped on Gwen's sides, pulling her skirt up the way so it wouldn't get in the way at all. She must have become tongue-tied with the way each and every part of Gwen's member was tasted, wrapping her tongue around the Spider-Woman's member and taking it deep into her throat. If not for the support of the painted-pink bricks just behind her, Gwen would have rightfully lost all balance, breathing hot breaths as her fingers twirled around strands of Em Jay's hair, her bewitching gaze speaking in languages far beyond those of Gwen Stacy.
This changing room had become their lair of filth, the ongoing sensation leading Gwen to complete ecstasy. Em's lips teased her shaft in unspeakable ways, as cardinal lipstick covered Gwen with inconsistent thickness, clear marks of Em Jay's work up and down her drummer's frenzied prick. "Em Jay…" Gwen could hardly speak - finding true beauty in the utter smut displayed before her. The sensations of pleasure raised, and thus so did the muffled sounds of ecstasy, if you could make it out past the vocalist gurgling on her own spit, gagging herself on the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Woman, all until…
She stopped.
Even with the pleading sounds of Gwen, Em Jay allowed Gwen's soaking love to sit idle whilst she breathed warmly against it, licking around her now smudged lipstick as she savoured the taste, wiping away any spit still connecting her mouth to Gwen's twitching affection. Still, she pleaded, both hands running through Em's afro of scarlet, being met only by a smile in return. "Wh- why-" She begged. "Please- Em…"
This everlasting affection Gwen was overtaken with threw reason out the window. Mary Jane stood back up on her own two feet, shadowing the hero once more. She was still a little exasperated, swallowing wads of spit without speaking a word. Even she looked a little embarrassed. Messier hair, warm cheeks, and ruined lipstick drooling down past her perfect lips. Gwen's hands trailed behind Em once more - holding onto the back of her shirt just as she had done prior, pushing herself up against her - her sodden cock ready to burst with utter lust, grinding against the pink denim covering Em's crotch. Gwen looked utterly desperate… Well, Em Jay made this mess, didn't she? Wouldn't it be her job to clean it up?
"Have a little patience…"
Through Gwen's euphoria, she could hardly follow her bandmate's words, pleading sapphires staring up at Em, complete desperation taking over. All interrupted by the echoing sound of a belt unbuckling. The strip of leather fell to the floor as the space between the pair became null. Em didn't leave the poor vigilante with any room to breathe, their bodies moulding into one another which left Stacy in complete ecstasy. "I appreciate the enthusiasm, believe me-" Em gripped Gwen's collar tight, pulling her up to stand on the ends of her feet, pulling her in close- both of their red hot cheeks making contact. With full lips, she whispered to Gwen. "But you gotta calm down, tiger."
"Alright…"
God, it was hard to keep it cool when she was this close… Gwen's head was completely clouded by thoughts from a girl who just a little while ago she was pissed at… what was her goal here? Gwen wondered to herself. This couldn't be blackmail- Em was hardly that type of person… or did she just… want to do it with a hero? Or was it more like-... she wanted to do it with Spider-Woman… Did she want to see what made Spider-Woman tick? What made her squeak, squeal, scream? N-No, that couldn't be it! Gwen needed to calm down, she wasn't Felicia! Ugh, thinking about this was useless while her head was spinning like this. Everything about Em, her looks, her smell, her voice. The marks on her neck still stung with pleasure- while she listened to the sounds of Em stripping off her bottom half, licking off the pink pants into the same pile as Gwen's own bag and suit. To say Em Jay was skinny would be a lie. She didn't have the so-called perfect body, yet she looked absolutely stunning no matter the day. Whatever rolls she had or stretch marks making their way up her sides she had only made Gwen love her further. On top of that she was particularly… gifted in certain aspects, far more than Gwen, much to the blonde's dismay.
She positioned her body just adjacent to Gwen's. The warm embrace of Em's inner thighs covering the drummer's leaking womanhood. The vocalist placed a hand on Gwen's cheek, her palm practically sizzling from the heat. "Let's see just how spectacular you are, hm?" she laughed, leaving a small peck on the girl's forehead.
"You're not funny…" Yet Gwen couldn't help but smile, she sighed and shook her yet, but still smiled. Those more petite and pale hands moving to Em's revealed sides, staring up while their bodies yearned for one another - the two seconds away from jumping on one another like savage dogs. Mary Jane's hands trailed all the way down to a thin piece of fabric keeping her damp entrance from Gwen's own desperate sex, taking two hands, placing her head on the hero's shoulder as they dropped to the floor, staying between her ankles as Gwen's member bore witness to a small taste of Mary Jane's dampening flower, her miraculous fingers keeping her entrance bare and open… she had dark red hairs springing up all the way to her stomach, getting progressively thinner the higher up it all went… wait, did she not shave her body hair? Ugh, for some reason that left Gwen wanting her even more! Maybe it was something about the attitude of not caring what others think of you, or maybe the addition of this ginger hair springing up over her body was just intoxicating to her in it's own right… m-maybe it's not worth thinking about. Not when Gwen felt her head tinge with the sticky substance… "God… you're- you're really not funny…" she swallowed her spit, shaking hands making their way to the bottom of this crop-top of Em's, and etching it's way up… while Em Jay lowered her hips down, completely engulfing the desperate girl.
To say that the sensation was pleasure wouldn't be doing it justice, Gwen's hand rushed up Em's shirt, every touch of skin sent tingles down Gwen's body - all while she managed to take a shaking grasp of-... Huh? Wait- was Em Jay not wearing a-... Well, it's on track at least. Stacy was hardly complaining, not when her hand was filled with such a soft piece of Em, while Gwen's member was slowly used by the group's singer at her own pace. Both of their breathing combined into one- Em making sure to get a firm grip of Gwen's hair, towards the back of her head, only encouraging her slow and methodical hip movements, the both of them overtaken with lust for each other, staring deeply into each other's eyes with Gwen's thrusting keeping the both of them in a constant state of sensation.
"Is that really all you got, Stacy…?" Her breath was torrid against Gwen's skin. "I'm disappointed." Obviously she was enjoying herself, but was she hoping for something else? Gwen gave her a small glare while Em just continued on, caressing Gwen's hair all the while. "I mean, I get it's your first time and all but this isn't exactly the mind-breaking experience I was hoping for." She giggled, leading to yet another look of annoyance from Gwen, and a smug one from Em in return. "You're not just gonna waste me like this, are you? C'mon, don't you just want to let loose and fuck me~?" The shorter of the two looked unamused, scoffing as the speed of her thrusts was increased, leading to Em Jay laughing quietly, all the while being groped by this girl she was provoking.
"Y-You're an asshole…" Gwen retorted, scoffing at this entire ridiculous conversation.
"Oh yeah?" The redhead leaned into Gwen's ear, still slowly allowing the girl's love to push into her, all the while ridiculing her for this performance. "I might as well just call for Betty and Glory-"
"Try it-" Even filled with such pleasure, the drummer still managed to give Em what she was looking for- a retort, leaning in closer, their their lips making short contact for seconds at a time whenever one took a breath, the two of them caught up in each other completely.
"You think I won't?" Em laughed. "You think I won't yell for them- so they can see what a fucking limp-dicked loser Spider-Wom-" In only a moment, Gwen's member pulled out - covered from head to shaft in Em's love, still strings connecting the two. The reason for the interruption would become far more apparent as both of Gwen's hands moved down- down to the back of Em Jay's thighs - taking a firm grasp and completely effortlessly picking the larger girl up. Her hands sunk deep into Em's legs, keeping this eye contact of love and annoyance as Mary Jane - for the first time today - seemed genuinely surprised. "Woah- hey, Gwen-" The feat of picking this girl up was one that no typical woman Gwen's height could accomplish. Em Jay was a ridiculously tall girl, and she weighed a good amount too. Yet it didn't even break a sweat for Gwen to get her feet dangling from the ground. All in a flash, she took steps forward to push Em against an opposing wall, hard. For the first time in the evening, it seemed that Gwen finally decided to show a little of those powers of hers, and not for no reason too.
Em wrapped her hands around Gwen's neck for dear life whilst her entrance dripped along the marble floor. Gwen pushed her entire body into Em's, moaning out in pleasure while the redhead couldn't even place her feet on the ground. She was perfectly set up for Stacy to thrust deep into, moulding out her insides with quickening speed, and for another first time today - Em Jay gave up that sense of superiority. She couldn't act above all of this while literally being taken off of her feet. Whatever confidence boost that the drummer received seemed to be doing an awful lot for the both of them. Moaning and squealing out in pure ecstasy. Mary Jane wrapped her legs tightly around Gwen- forcing Spider-Woman's body into her own as her pleading came to the forefront. "G-Gwen~..." She could hardly get it out anymore, the pair entirely having switched places. "Fuck, Gwen- what the f-fuck…?!"
"Shut up-" Even Gwen herself was shocked- either Felicia was rubbing off on her or this has caused Gwen to discover something about herself. With the pair's infatuation growing by the second, the drummer leaned into her singer, their lips colliding once more as saliva dripped down both of their chins, this kiss turning into something more primal, animalistic - not a single care in the world except for one another, their bodies moving in sync purely for one another's pleasure. This kiss was visceral, a mix of love and lust indescribable in any other context. The two were reaching their complete limit. Gwen could tell by the way Em's body moved, the speed of her sounds, and by just how high her voice got, moaning into Gwen's own mouth, tongues wrapping around each other while Em Jay kept a firm grip on this superpowered girl, the pair becoming one for but a moment as during this long, uninterrupted kiss - Gwen's love throbbed in anticipation - taken over by thie Lust she had felt towards Em Jay for god knows how long now - all of this stress from the band coming to a forefront as it's founder was practically begging Gwen for her to-
Fuck-
Their sounds were out of this world, holding onto one another until they bruised. Em dug those nails of hers into the vigilante and Gwen just not knowing her own strength as the pair echoed out in a melody of pleasure, liquids dripping from the pair down onto the ground below. Gwen's clear, sticky love melded together with Em's as it dripped down their legs… their grip on one another tight even now, not wanting to let each other go while they soaked the floor with a symbol of their lust. With all the smudged makeup along each others faces, the obvious bite marks along Gwen's neck, and the soaked spots on one another's clothes, how could they ever hide what happened here from the others but… oh, who gave a shit? These two certainly didn't, not right now…

"Sooooo…" Betty smacked her lips, leaning up against the side of this large stage the group had been allowed to use for tonight. "Those two sure have been gone a while, huh?" Her words were of course directed to Glory, who was sitting by the front of the stage - facing an imaginary crowd as she quietly tuned the strings of her guitar.
"Mhm…" She replied in a monotone fashion, her auburn eyes moving to see the pianist clearly, using both hands to keep herself upright as she leaned back.
"You think they're banging?" Betty asked this as if it was an entirely normal question and, to be entirely fair she was correct, so it would be a little hard to get mad at her for this.
"Oh, definitely." Gloria smiled at Brant's comment, crossing both legs as her second-hand guitar was placed down across her lap. The guitarist would've continued on, if it wasn't for the sound of the the changing room doors opening, leading her to mumble out, "Oh, here we go."
The two girls exiting the changing room looked… rough, to say the least. Gwen was obviously trying to hide her right side, and though any smudging had been wiped off with many of the towels, their actions prior had still been left quite obvious. The only major difference was that finally, Gwen had her backpack on - and of course, Em Jay had an arm wrapped firmly around Gwen's side - keeping her close even now. Now Gwen, she… seemed more reserved than Em after what had just occurred, her face red and quiet while Glory gave a wave to the pair.
"Oh… Jesus Christ…" Betty snorted, climbing atop the stage to get a clearer view as she began to giggle quietly to herself, only to be joined in by Gloria, laughing along until it echoed out, with any chance of an excuse well off the table for the Spectacular Spider-Woman and Mary Jane Watson.

The GLEE Cast and Creative Team Reunite to Support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA Strikes: ‘We’re At a Turning Point in Our Industry’
Tumblr media
The GLEE cast and creative team. (Photo credit: Marisa Roffman/Give Me My Remote.)
The GLEE cast and creative team reunited on Wednesday, August 23 to show their support for the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. And while a number of the key players have regularly picketing, the official reunion stemmed from an unexpected source: Aspiring actress Aly Fabrizio.
After filling out a form to host a themed WGA picket at Warner Bros, the ball started rolling. The day included multiple food trucks (including one sponsored by GLEE vet Jane Lynch), as well as show-appropriate grilled cheese, slushies, and cupcakes made by Fabrizio. “My heart’s still racing a little bit,” Fabrizio says. “Seeing them all back together makes me want to cry, in a good way. Knowing I organized it makes me really happy.”
Former GLEE star Darren Criss was picketing at the WB lot earlier in the week when “somebody, in passing, mentioned to me that there was going to be a GLEE day,” he shares. “And so I said, ‘F— yeah, I’ll be there. Wouldn’t miss it.’”
Criss joined co-creator Brad Falchuk, as well as a gaggle of stars including Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris, Iqbal Theba, Max Adler, Becca Tobin, Jacob Artist, Dot-Marie Jones, Vanessa Lengies, Patrick Gallagher, and Josh Sussman on the picket line, snapping selfies with each other and fans, and having some fun with the GLEE-themed picket line karaoke. (Gallagher sang “Sweet Caroline,” tweaking the words to reflect the ongoing strike—and joking there’s a reason he didn’t sing on the Fox series.)
“There is an unfortunate disparity in wealth that needs to be sorted for future generations,” adds Criss. “We’re not just looking out for us, we’re looking out for the ones that come after us and our families. And [we’re fighting for] the people before us who wished they could have organized and galvanized each other, to put systems in place to protect the work.”
youtube
“For the writers’ strike in 2007…we didn’t have social media, and there was this sort of this, ‘Oh, it’s happening over there’-ness to it,” Criss adds. “What is convenient about this go-round with the strike is that it’s very public and in the faces of—and hands of—people who aren’t part of the union, who are on the outside looking in, and understanding the inner wiring of it a lot better.”
“So I would encourage anybody who is a fan of this show to show their support on social media, perhaps to educate themselves on what this is and what labor disputes are, in general,” he continues. “This is a labor dispute, much like any union going on strike. It’s a very measured course of action to accomplish a goal. And I think educating yourself to understand what we’re trying to do here, especially if you’re a young fan, so that moving on in any business, whether it be the entertainment business, whether you’re an actual writer or even a producer in the future, you’re understanding what the grievances are.”

Actor, Comedian and Musician Martin Mull Dies at 80
Martin Mull, the ubiquitous comedian and character actor who began his career as a musician, has died, his daughter said.
Mull died June 27 at 80 “after a valiant fight against a long illness,” Maggie Mull said.
“He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials,” she said.
“He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and co-workers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians and - the sign of a truly exceptional person - by many, many dogs.”
“Weird” Al Yankovic eulogized Mull as “a true artist and a truly sweet man.”
Best known for roles in television and movies - from “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” to “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and from “FM” to “Clue” - Mull got his start as a songwriter and musician. He wrote Jane Morgan’s minor 1970 country hit “A Girl Named Johnny Cash” before releasing a string of albums on Capricorn Records in the early-1970s and touring with the likes of Randy Newman, Bruce Springsteen and Frank Zappa.
Penn & Teller called Mull “a hero and inspiration,” while New Riders of the Purple Sage posted their song “Lonesome L.A. Cowboy” in Mull’s honor.
“May Martin Mull rest in peace and love,” Todd Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation said.

On November 1st 1889 a wall collapsed at Templetons Greenhead Factory Calton, tragically taking the lives of 29 woman.
At about 5.15pm that evening, unusually high winds caused a large section of the new western extension to collapse into the adjoining weaving shed. The workforce was composed almost entirely of East End women and many were buried in the ruins.
The Eastern and Central Fire Brigades attended the scene under Superintendent William Paterson and they were assisted by the Glasgow Salvage Corps and policemen in their search for survivors. The firemen and Salvage Corps were replaced at 7pm by organized search parties consisting of workers from the factory. Although many women were rescued, twenty-nine died women and girls in the rubble.
Maggie Shields was a power loom weaver at Templetons Greenhead Factory Calton , who went to her work on the 1st November 1889 and became one of the 29 young girls to loose there lives when the ornate wall that was being built collapsed during a storm and demolished the weaving shed where Maggie and her co workers were working. Maggie was 22 years old and lived at 10 Gibson Street Calton The Glasgow Herald on the 2nd November reported that Maggie was missing at that time.
Their names were, according to the Evening Times:
Sisters Elizabeth, 17, and Agnes Broadfoot, 21

Elizabeth Sinclair, 25
Mary Ann Stewart, 16
Annie Strathearn, 19
Mary Turnbull, 15
Annie Wilson, 14.....
A memorial garden at the corner of London road and Tobago street is believed to have been built to commemorate the death of these 29 girls and on the wall was a plaque with the poem.
‘Green buds for the hopes of tomorrow Fair flowers, for the joy of today Sweet memory, the fragrance they leave us As time gently flows on its way’
The reason I say believed is that the garden seems to have come into existence many years later in 1954, and no records exist to it coming about.
There's a wee bit about the memorial garden here https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/.../13259515.makeover-for.../

First Meeting at Fennel Fields
AO3 Link ——————————————————————————————
Pairing: Adrian Chase x Agender!OC (Rue Iqbal)
Rating: 13+
Summary:
Rue Iqbal, who recently moved to the town of Evergreen, stopped by at Fennel Fields to enjoy a meal when they made a potential romantic connection with the cute busboy, Adrian Chase.
A/N: This is part 1 of the series, Star Blossom. Stay tuned for part 2
Tumblr media
It was a cold, late afternoon, with light gray clouds and a glint of sunlight in the sky. Driving in a silver car, Rue Iqbal admired the quaint town of Evergreen, with rows of mom-and-pop shops attached together and small trees and shrubs planted in every corner of the sidewalks, their light green leaves slowly fading into dark orange, reflecting the beginning of the autumn season. Their face was drenched with sweat and makeup and their ribbons loose from both sides of their curly hair. Wearing a light blue knitted vest with a slightly crumpled shirt and flared midi skirt, their Mary Jane shoes that Rue polished early in the morning had lost its shine, along with their white stockings that turned gray.
Despite their favorite song, La Vie En Rose, playing on the radio, Rue’s head was throbbing with slight pain and their right eye felt heavy, their left eye covered with eyepatch. But with their last meal after their mid-afternoon prayer, Rue’s stomach rumbled for hours, forcing them to drive to a nearby restaurant and eat as much as their heart desired. If they had the option, they craved a large paratha with thick, spicy mutton curry and a side of pakoras, just like how their paternal grandmother made them years ago.
Unfortunately, grandmother isn’t here to cook their favorite food, let alone comfort their heavy heart and dried tears. They’re on their own, in a new place, without anyone by their side.
Parking their car in front of a restaurant called Fennel Fields, Rue stared at their reflection in their rearview and touched up on their makeup and hair, before spraying an ocean-scented perfume on their bare neck. Taking a deep breath, they emerged from their vehicle with their light blue handbag and approached the restaurant their co-workers raved about earlier. The interior of the restaurant was painted with warm yellow that harmonized with the mild lighting and toasty surroundings, and the scent of Bolognese sauce and fresh rosemary welcomed the only customer.
All the seats were vacant, with saucers and a set of forks and knives placed on top of serviettes. Rue noticed that there were only a few staff on duty, and focused their gaze towards the round clock hanging in the middle, which was half-past five. As Rue glanced at the freshly mopped wooden floor, the restaurant hostess approached them with a warm smile on her face and a menu in her hands.
“Welcome to Fennel Fields,” she greeted. “Are you here to dine in or takeout?”
“I’m here to dine-in,” they replied in a cordial manner.
“Alright, miss, right this way,” she said, as she led them to their seat, which was a table with only two chairs and a painting of a willow tree on their right.
“Thank you,” Rue said, as they sat down and hung their handbag behind them.
“You’re welcome, miss,” she responded, handing them the menu. “Feel free to take your time to browse through the menu and ring the bell once you’re ready to order.”
“Thank you, ma’am,” they said, browsing through the menu, hoping the restaurant had options for vegans and vegetarians, just like what their co-workers claimed. They were right‌, because there is a vegan section on the menu, which is completely plant-based. Five minutes later, Rue rang the bell and a waitress approached her table, with a notebook in her hands.
“I’ll have a Caprese salad with a strawberry Italian soda,” Rue stated, as the waitress wrote it down on their notebook.
“Will that be all?” she asked. “A Caprese salad with a strawberry Italian soda?”
“That will be all,” they affirmed, handing her the menu. “Thank you so much.”
“No problem, miss.”
As the waitress left, Rue leaned against their seat and as they listened to the tranquil music in the background and turned to a simple willow tree painting on their right, sinking deep into their thoughts. They couldn’t help noticing the yellowish-greenish colors that were used for the leaves, along with the shadow that casts underneath it with light gray colors. Rue remembered the willow tree in the park one sunny day, where they used to sit whenever they felt like their burdens were too heavy for them to carry on their back and weeped without shame and guilt from people around them. With orange butterflies fluttering and the scent of nectars in the air, it was the perfect way to feel home.
But they weren’t home anymore. They’re in Evergreen, where there’s no sight of enormous skyscrapers and the mysterious green forest loomed at the edge of the town.
Before delving further into the new town, the waitress returned with their Caprese salad and a glass of strawberry Italian soda, bringing them back into the present. Rue thanked the waitress and glanced at their meal, which consists of fresh tomato slices, mozzarella cheese, and basil leaves, drizzled with olive oil and a hint of black pepper. It may not be vegan, but last they checked, mozzarella cheese did not contain rennet, hence, it was safe for them to eat. As they took a bite of their meal, they tasted the tanginess of the tomato and mozzarella slices mixed together with the pungent taste of basil. With the balancing flavor of the olive oil and black pepper, Rue’s eyes widened as they glanced at their meal, taking another bite and stuffing it in their mouth, satisfying their hunger.
They then took a sip of their strawberry Italian soda with a red-striped straw, and sighed in relief at the sweet taste of the fresh strawberries that were mixed with the bubbly club soda and the cooling ice cube that refreshed their body, despite the cold mist fogging the restaurant’s window.  Despite the fog, however, Rue pictured the golden leaf that blew towards their bedroom window early in the morning, resembling the ones that were scattered near the willow tree. The street sweeper usually piled them up into a mini mountain, and Rue used to jump towards the pile and let the leaves rain towards their giggling face, until the sweeper showed up and cursed at them.
That was years ago when they were still in high school. As their mind flies towards their past, they did not notice the busboy approaching their table, who had been admiring their beauty since the moment they stepped foot into Fennel Fields.
“Excuse me, miss,” a busboy asked, carrying a jug of strawberry Italian soda. “Do you want a refill of your drink?”
Rue focused their attention towards the busboy who was standing in front of them and traced their eyes from his head to his toned forearms, all the way to his leather black shoes, which looked almost worn out. Wearing a red cap with matching shirt and a beige apron, his bespectacled eyes reminded Rue of a forest at night, which complimented with his porcelain skin and dimpled smile. Rue could only sip their soda as they admired the handsome busboy sitting in front of them, who resembled one of those main leads in a Korean drama, except for the fact that he was clearly a white man whose age they could not guess. But if they had to bet, the busboy looked like he was either in his late 20s or in his early 30s, though not more than 31.
Their eyes then moved towards his name tag on his apron before nodding in response. “I would love that, Adrian, thank you.”
He rapidly blinked at Rue’s response, gripping on the jug’s handle. “How did you know my name?”
“It’s on your name tag,” they pointed out, much to his relief.
“That makes sense,” he chuckled, as he poured their drink into their glass. “Though it feels weird that a customer would refer to a busboy or a busgirl or a busser by their names, since we mostly do the dirty work that the waiters don’t dare.”
“Yeah, bussers have to carry stacks of dirty dishes and refill drinks, which is really tiring. Like, I remember carrying 15 dirty dishes from one table and both my arms and legs were super sore.”
“Wait, you were a busser as well?”
“Yeah, it was my first job back in high school. Whenever school finished, I worked from around 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and then woke up for school at 6, and then the pattern repeated.”
“I know that feeling,” he empathized with their experience as he leaned closer to their ears to whisper. “Not to mention you’re underpaid, a lot.”
Rue’s eyes widened as Adrian whispered in her ears, though they understood that he could not say it openly at his workplace since it might get him fired, or worse. Speaking of the workplace, Rue realized that they may have been taking loads of Adrian’s time, since he was still on duty right now.
“You should head back to work,” they reminded him. “I don’t think your boss would be happy to see you mingling with a customer.”
“Please, you’re the only one here,” he snorted, as he took a seat and placed the jug on the table, facing Rue. “Besides, I was really bored and there’s nothing much I can do anyway, aside from wiping the table, which I’ve done that for like a hundred times.”
Rue burst into laughter. “You talk to customers when you’re bored?”
“Nah, I usually would be sitting in the back and listening to music, but since you’re here all alone, I thought you could use some company anyway, since you look lonely and all.”
“I appreciate that,” they replied. “So how long have you worked here?”
“Pretty long, I guess,” he shrugged, looking upwards. “Probably around a year or two. Or maybe three. I don’t know. I’m bad at math. Anyway, let’s talk about you. What do you do for a living?”
“I’m a high school chemistry teacher. Today’s my first day of teaching at Evergreen High School. Ever heard of it?”
“Oh my gosh, yes, of course I heard of it. I used to go there, along with my older brother and my best friend, who’s close with my older brother,” his eyes brightened, reminiscing his past to Rue. “If I could remember, Mr. White was my chemistry teacher, until he got killed by a drug lord, which I’m not sure how to feel, since chemistry isn’t my favorite subject and also the fact that I zoned out at every one of his classes.”
“So you and your older brother and your best friend, who’s close with your older brother, were alumni of that school?” they recapped, feeling goosebumps on their skin on Mr. White’s death. “Well, that explains why the superintendent hired me immediately after the interview.”
“I’m not surprised,” he shrugged. “A lot of teachers are leaving the profession, which I don’t blame them, since the pay is low and students can be dickheads sometimes. Are your students a bunch of dickheads?”
“So far, they seemed fine,” they laughed with amusement. “Though it’s too early to judge, since it’s only the first day.”
“That’s totally understandable,” Adrian let out a pleasant laugh, before proceeding to dig through their history. “So if you don’t mind me asking, where are you from, cause I’ve never seen you around town before, so yeah…”
“Well, I was born and raised in Malaysia, but I came to America when I was fourteen,” they explained, releasing a shallow sigh. “I lived in Kane City for eight years, which was famous for their willow trees, until I decided to move to Evergreen, where I’ve only been here for two days.”
“That’s a lot of moving,” he remarked. “So you must be a city girl, right?”
Rue chuckled in response, much to his confusion. “Did I say anything wrong?”
“I’m not sure how to say this, but I’m not a girl,” they clarified, pressing their hands together. “I’m actually agender, which means I don’t identify with any gender at all. Basically, I’m genderless, so yeah…”
“I am so sorry about that,” he babbled, aghast at his own behavior. “I should have asked before assuming your gender, which I did, and now I think I made things awkward between us.”
“No worries about that,” Rue assured him. “I get that a lot.”
“It’s still not an excuse to misgender you, though,” he looked down on the table, avoiding their eyes, before clearing his throat. “Anyway, to make things less awkward, what pronouns do you use?”
“I go by they, them, ze and zir,” they answered. ‘What about you? What pronouns do you go by?”
“I go by he and him pronouns, and I’m also a cis male, just to clear up the confusion between the both of us.”
“Alright, looks like we’ve cleared up the air,” they clapped their hands once. “So, how long did you stay in Evergreen?”
“Since I was born, which was practically my whole life,” he answered, gazing at Rue’s right eye. “I never left Evergreen, and I don’t think I ever will. I mean, I know it can be boring and all, with nothing much happening in this town, except for the fact that we were almost invaded by a bunch of butterflies, which I obviously have nothing to do with, but otherwise, there’s nothing much here except for a few crimes here and there.”
“Honestly, I would rather be almost invaded by a bunch of butterflies than to deal with corrupt cops and some billionaire who tried to poison our rivers,” Rue chortled. “Besides, butterflies are beneficial to the ecosystem since they contribute to our food production.”
“Yeah, of course,” he laughed nervously, wiping the sweat off his forehead. “Those butterflies are definitely beneficial to the ecosystem, alright. Anyway, let’s talk about your home country, Malaysia, since I’ve never heard about it before, so yeah, what’s it like down there?”
“From what I remembered, I would hang out at the esplanade with my friends while admiring the ocean up close, along with the blue sky above. I also remembered the alleyways with artworks of children riding on the bicycle and playing on the swing. I also remembered enjoying swimming in the river near my grandparent’s house and the water would be freezing cold, despite the immense heat outside. Oh, there’s also a rice field nearby as well, and it’s a beautiful sight when it’s being harvested.”
“It sounded like paradise.”
“It did, actually,” they smiled sadly. “If only I could stay there forever.”
“Do you miss your home country?”
“Yeah, I do miss Malaysia a lot,” they sighed. “I could come back there, but I’m not sure whether I would recognize it since everything changed for the past eight years.”
“Well, you know what they say, if you’ve been away from home for too long, you end up becoming a foreigner when you return home.”
Rue nodded as they stared distantly at their drink, contemplating Adrian’s words. Their memories of their eight years old self enjoying a strawberry ice ball replayed in their mind like a rolling film camera. They were sitting all alone in an open-air shop and counted every trishaw that rode past them on the quiet streets. The shopkeeper knew their parents well. Whenever Rue came to his shop, he always smiled and talked to them in their native language. Rue would love to go back to those moments, but they no longer live there anymore, nor speak their native language that their parents and teachers from her old school had taught. Even if they go back, they would no longer be the same little girl that everyone recognized.
“Everything alright, Rue?” Adrian interrupted their thoughts, his brows wrinkled. “You seemed sad.”
“Yeah, I’m alright,” they insisted, grinning from ear-to-ear. “I was just taking a trip down to memory lane, that’s all.”
“Is it something I said, cause if it is, I’m really sorry about that.”
Rue shook their head. “You didn’t do anything wrong, Adrian. It’s just that I realized that I forgot how to speak Malay, which I used to be super fluent along with English, but since coming here, I could only converse in English, Japanese and Korean, which is embarrassing, cause I made an effort to learn Japanese and Korean but somehow I didn’t do the same with Malay, which was the language my parents and my grandparents and the rest of my ancestors have spoken, even during the colonial eras. So yeah, you’re right. If I returned to Malaysia, I’ll feel more like an American tourist instead of a Malaysian who returned home.”
Adrian can’t imagine losing the ability to speak his native tongue, but listening to Rue’s cries on forgetting the language that their ancestors have spoken made his heart ache. They would insist that everything seemed fine, but he noticed their suppression of tears through their right eye, since the other eyes were covered with an eye patch. He wondered how they lost half of their sight in the first place, though it’s not the right time to ask about it.
“It must be painful forgetting a language you used to be fluent in,” he empathized in a softer tone. “And I’m sure it hurts to feel disconnected from your home country and its culture. But I’m confident that it is never too late to re-learn the Malay language and reconnect with your culture. It definitely won’t be easy, but I’m sure it will be a healing journey for you and your family, if you’re still in touch with them, of course. Are you still in touch with your family?.”
“Unfortunately, no, but you’re still right,” they smiled at Adrian. “It’s never too late to re-learn the Malay language and reconnect with my culture. After all, we persevered through the colonial era and the Japanese occupation during World War II, so I don’t think I’ll give up anytime soon.”
“That’s the spirit,” he cheered, as he noticed their blue handbag hanging on the chair. “Is that a Kate Spade you got there?”
“How did you know?” they gasped, grabbing their handbag.
“It’s the leather for me, cause it’s made of crossgrain calf leather, which is the least expensive kind of leather and also more durable than the regular soft leather, perfect for carrying loads of stuff like files and books, since that’s what teachers usually carry all the time.”
Rue raised their eyebrows as they leaned towards him while still clutching on their handbag. “You have such eyes for details. Does anyone ever tell you that?”
“No, people just call me stupid and clueless, which is actually true, since I can’t tell who’s being sarcastic and I also don’t feel emotions like people do.”
“You’re kidding, right?”
Adrian shook his head. “No, it’s true. People always tell me that I’m dumb and that I talk too much, which is also true as well.”
Rue blinked at his statement, wondering whether he was pulling their leg. Surely, a man who accurately guessed the brand of their handbag would not be stupid, clueless, and dumb. As for the emotion part, Adrian makes them feel like they’re talking to a close friend that they’ve known for years instead of a stranger they just met an hour ago.
“What makes you think that you’re stupid and clueless?” they asked, tilting their head to their right.
“Well, one time, I noticed my best friend was really occupied with work and all, so I decided to help him do his laundry. Unfortunately, I may have used the wrong detergent, so his clothes pretty much turned pink. Understandably, he got mad and he wouldn’t allow me in his trailer for two weeks, so yeah.”
Rue burst out laughing that they almost choked on their saliva, before clearing their throat and straightening their posture. “I don’t think I can consider you being stupid, since I also accidentally turned one of my white dresses pink. But honestly, at least I could wear that dress, since most of my clothes are blue and white.”
“I threw my best friend's phone out of the car, thinking it was trackable, but his dad found him anyway because of his helmet. I realize now that it was a dumb thing to do.”
“Wait, helmets are trackable?” Rue bit their cheeks in thought.
“Well, my best friend’s helmet was trackable since his dad specially built it, and his dad is a racist nutjob‌, which you shouldn’t worry about, since he’s dead and I definitely have no part in his death, so yeah.”
“Okay then, that’s good to know,” Rue nodded. “So, you mentioned you have an older brother, right?”
“Yeah, I did,” he replied with a grin. “His name is Gut, and he’s like way older than me, like 13 years older, and he was alright. We only see each other during the holidays, since he has his own life and all.”
“Huh, it must be nice having a big brother. How about the rest of your family? Are you close with them as well?”
“Kind of, I mean, I only see them during the holidays, so yeah, it’s all good, I guess.”
Rue hummed in agreement as they stole a quick glance of the time. It was already 6.30 p.m. It dawned on them just how swiftly the past hour and a half had flown by, their conversation flowing seamlessly and effortlessly. Yet, Rue was hit with their most important part of their everyday obligations, which was their daily prayers. In 20 minutes, their next prayer would start, though they can’t bear the weight of leaving Adrian all alone, despite their short but captivating connection they had shared earlier.
Letting out a resigned sigh, Rue took out a piece of a blue memo pad and a Sharpie from their handbag, puzzling Adrian with their unexpected action.
“Everything okay, Rue?”
“I would love to stay and chat with you longer, but I just realized that my next prayer starts in 20 minutes, which I can’t be late to, so will it be okay if I give you my phone number instead?
Adrian’s eyes sparkled as Rue handed him their phone number on a blue memo pad, which had an ocean scent attached to it. It’s not every day a pretty person like Rue would give their phone number to him. He felt like floating in the air as angels surrounded him with their soulful opera.
“Of course you can,” he grinned, folding the piece of paper inside his pocket. “I would definitely call you, after you’re done with your prayers. By the way, what time is your last prayer, cause I don’t want to disturb you while praying, you know.”
“You can call me at 9,” they suggested, getting up from their seat. “I’ll be done by then.”
“Sure thing, I’ll definitely call you at 9,” he got up with them. “I can’t wait to continue our conversations together.”
“I’ll be waiting,” Rue winked, before realizing that they only had one eye, prompting them to turn around and ignore his soft laugh behind them. “Just don’t be late.”
“See you soon, Rue,” Adrian waved as he watched them leave Fennel Fields. Looking down at the phone number that they gave earlier, he paced out of the restaurant through the back door and performed his signature dance move at the empty alleyway, not giving a fuck whether his co-workers were staring at him weirdly.

THE FACE IS FAMILIAR… BUT I CAN’T PLACE THE NAME!
Same Actor / Different Character ~ Part 2: “The Lucy Show"
Tumblr media
It used to be quite common for actors to be cast in multiple roles on the same series. Not in principal parts, certainly, but in supporting and minor characters. Lucycoms were no exception. Although the world created by these shows was representative of reality, the characters who populated them often gave viewers Deja vu.
For the purposes of this discussion, we won’t include background performers (aka extras) as they were nearly always drawn from the same pool of actors. Also, those who played multiple characters need to have at least one of them identified by name.
MARY JANE CROFT
Tumblr media
Croft (a veteran of "I Love Lucy") was introduced to viewers as Audrey Simmons in 8 episodes from episode 8 in 1962. When the show's location was changed to Los Angeles, Croft also changed - into Mary Jane Lewis, which was her legal name during her marriage to producer / director Elliott Lewis. When Vivian Vance left the cast, and Lucy failed to fill her 'second banana' spot, Croft's role became increasingly more integral to the show. The second MJ was seen in 31 episode, including the series finale.
CAROLE COOK
Tumblr media
A protege of Ball's from the Desilu Playhouse, Cook was introduced as Thelma Green in five episodes set in Danfield. Unusually, during that time she also played Betty Jo Hanson at "Lucy's College Reunion" (1963). Perhaps the episodes were aired out of filming sequence. When the show moved West, she played socialite Mrs. Valance for three episodes, and a variety of other characters (large and small) in 11 more.
ROY ROBERTS
Tumblr media
Roberts was best known as Bank President Mr. Cheever, a role he played in 14 episodes starting halfway through season five and including the series finale. But he first appeared as the Admiral in "Lucy and the Submarine" (1966). Roberts was likely typecast as Mr. Cheever after playing a similar role on "The Beverly Hillbillies" from 1965 to 1967.
MARY WICKES
Tumblr media
Wickes was a great friend of Lucille Ball's. While she only made one appearance on "I Love Lucy", she was seen much more frequently on "The Lucy Show". In her first appearance she played a character named Mary Wickenhauser, Wickes' birth name. It wasn't long before she was back as Fran, one of the Danfield volunteer firefighters, in three episodes. When the series went to LA, she was Lucy's Aunt Gussie in two episodes, followed by one-offs Miss Winslow, Miss Hurlow, and Aunt Agatha. In total, she played 6 characters in 9 episodes over 6 seasons! And that's just on one series!
LUCIE ARNAZ
Tumblr media
Before she joined the cast of "Here's Lucy" as a series regular in 1968, Lucy's daughter was given opportunities to perform on "The Lucy Show", although in small roles. In Danfield she was seen as Chris's friend Cynthia in several episodes. In LA, she played several different teenagers in five episodes.
HERB VIGRAN
Tumblr media
Vigran started out as Dr. Jacoby, the umpire of Danfield's softball team, in two episodes. He went on to play a variety of others: a doctor, a vet, a postman, and a computer salesman that was referred to as "Mr. Vigran"!
DOROTHY KONRAD
Tumblr media
Konrad used her own first name as a member of the Danfield Volunteer Fire Brigade in two episodes, then used her last name as one of Lucy's college alumni in another. She also played bank secretary Mrs. Hutton, and babysitter Mrs. Fletcher.
JOAN SWIFT
Tumblr media
Swift was most often seen using her own first name as a Los Angles co-worker of Mrs. Carmichael's. She also played an airline passenger, a French maid, and characters named Laurie and Dottie.
KAREN NORRIS
Tumblr media
Norris was seen in six episodes, each time as a different character, but all with dialogue. Her most significant role was as Babette Edwards, a woman about to have her sixth child in "Lucy and Viv Play Softball" (1963).
LEW PARKER
Tumblr media
Parker played Joan Crawford's agent, a movie producer scouting Frankie Avalon, Phil Harris' music producer, Mr. Mooney's lawyer AND his psychiatrist! In some episodes he used his own first name, in others he used his own last name.
PARLEY BAER
Tumblr media
Baer Started his "Lucy Show" life playing the man who sells Lucy Clementine the sheep. He went to be seen as two judges, an army colonel, and a doctor. Is it any wonder he was one of the most familiar faces on television?
KATHLEEN FREEMAN
Tumblr media
1964 was a big year for Freeman, who appeared on "The Lucy Show" five times in four different characters. She was known by her own first name in two episodes, but also played Olga the cook, Mrs. Putnam the maid, and Mrs. Blake the nurse.
GARY MORTON
Tumblr media
Morton was Lucille Ball's real-life husband, and also a producer on "The Lucy Show". His first role (not surprisingly) was as Lucy's boyfriend, named Gary Stewart. As a stand-up comedian, he was able to handle dialogue and was cast in three more small roles, one time using his real surname. In the end credits, he used his birth name Morton Goldaper. Speaking of Lucy's boyfriend...
KEITH ANDES
Tumblr media
Andes had played Lucy's love interest on Broadway in Wildcat (1960), so it wasn't a reach for him to do it again on "The Lucy Show." He played Bill King on two episodes set in Danfield. In Los Angeles he was back as Lucy's love interest, but this time named Brad Collins. Collins is an airline pilot, just like Lucy's boyfriend in Danfield, Harry Connors (Dick Martin).  Collins was also the surname of Viv's steady boyfriend, Eddie (Don Briggs), back in Danfield.
LOU KRUGMAN
Tumblr media
Krugman was one of Lucille Ball's favorite performers. He was instantly recognizable as the film director coping with Lucy Ricardo and her ungainly headpiece. On "The Lucy Show" his first appearance was as a Chemistry teacher named Dr. Adrian Vance (after Vivian, of course). He played a music producer named Barney Miller (no relation to the TV detective), and finally returned to playing a film director, again coping with Lucy as she watches John Wayne film a western.
JONATHAN HOLE
Tumblr media
Hole made his first appearance with Lucille Ball in 1966, playing a department store manager named Mr. Collins. That same year he was Mr. Haskell, a Palm Springs hotel manager where Lucy and Carol sing. Finally, he used his first name to play Jonathan Winslow, father of three rambunctious chimps babysat by Lucy.
RETA SHAW
Tumblr media
Shaw was a popular character actress from film (Mary Poppins), stage (The Pajama Game), and television ("The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"). She was seen as 3 different characters on "The Lucy Show" starting as a girthy granny at the fairgrounds when "Lucy Misplaces $2,000" (1962). In "My Fair Lucy" (1964) she was dominating Dora Dunbar, wealthy socialite. Finally, she played Mrs. Foley, owner of a roadside stand selling maps to the stars homes when "Lucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiere" (1966).
HARVEY KORMAN
Tumblr media
Korman is best remembered from his hilarious work on "The Carol Burnett Show", but he was also worked with Carol's mentor, Lucille Ball, playing 3 roles on "The Lucy Show." First he was Mr. Slater, manager of a day camp where "Lucy and Viv are Camp Cooks" (1964). The next year he was twitchy stockbroker Mr. Phillips. During the series' first LA episode, Korman played Major Grayson, who is in charge of a military academy.
PAUL WINCHELL
Tumblr media
Paul Winchell was best known as a ventriloquist and the inventor of an artificial heart (seriously). In 1966 he played himself on "Here's Lucy," also showcasing some of his most famous creations. The following year he was cast as Doc Putnam, a little old man, in a two part musical episode "Main Street USA". He was barely recognizable. The role required him to sing and dance, which led to a falling out between his daughter and Lucy. She felt that Lucy was working him too hard and being exceptionally cruel.
KASEY ROGERS
Tumblr media
Rogers is best remembered for playing Louise Tate on “Bewitched” from 1966 to 1972.  For Lucy, she played Miss Cavanaugh, manager of a flight attendant training school attended by Lucy and Carol (Burnett). In the final season, she played Miss Carroll, secretary to Phil Harris.
LLOYD CORRIGAN
Tumblr media
Corrigan appeared in two films with Lucille Ball before joining her on the small screen as Mr. Holly of Holly Cleaners on the first season of "The Lucy Show". He returned to play gentleman crook Carter Harrison (a name that when reversed is given to Gale Gordon's character on "Here's Lucy" and the unnamed proprietor of a Los Angeles Christmas Tree stand.
TED ECCLES
Tumblr media
Teddy Eccles was the second child actor to play Arnold Mooney. When Mr. Mooney and Lucy moved to Los Angeles, their children were hardly ever discussed. So Eccles was given the roles of cadet Harold, and Barry the choirboy.
HAL SMITH
Tumblr media
Smith was best known as Otis the drunk on "The Andy Griffith Show," filmed at Desilu. For "Lucy" he played Mr. Wilson, one of the dads on an all-dad (plus Lucy) camping trip, and tuba-toting Mr. Weber in the two episodes set on "Main Street" of Bancroft.
WILLARD WATERMAN
Tumblr media
Former "Great Gildersleeve" on radio, Waterman played TV host Greg Gregory in “Lucy and the Plumber” (1964), followed by Tex Critter at the dude ranch in "Lucy the Rain Goddess" (1966).
DICK PATTERSON
Tumblr media
Patterson was a Broadway performer who played the "doctor" in "Lucy and the Beauty Doctor" (1966). The "doctor" was actually a TV host for a hidden camera show. He returned seven months later to play Marty King, director of Danny Thomas’s television show.
DORIS SINGLETON
Tumblr media
Doris had originated the role of Carolyn Appleby on "I Love Lucy". On "The Lucy Show" she first played Ruth Cosgrove in "Lucy and Art Linkletter" (1966). Her character name was the real-life name of Milton Berle's wife, who would actually appear in season five as herself! Singleton returned to the series when "Lucy Gets Her Diploma" (1967) using her own first name. Doris (the character) has very little to do with the plot.  Her scene might have been originally meant for Mary Jane but reassigned to Singleton due the indisposition of Croft.
RUTA LEE
Tumblr media
Lee made her big screen debut in MGM’s Seven Bride for Seven Brothers in 1954. She was seen in many Desilu shows, finally acting opposite Lucille Ball on “The Lucy Show” as “Lucy’s Substitute Secretary” (1967). That same year she played herself opposite the aforementioned Ruth Cosgrove-Berle!
JACKIE COOGAN
Tumblr media
One of the first child actors in Hollywood, Coogan is best remembered as Uncle Fester on "The Addams Family." He was mentioned on "I Love Lucy," but finally meets her face to face as Lieutenant Ruggles in "Lucy and the Military Academy" (1963). Five years later he was back as Mr. Burton, manager of a drive-in hamburger stand when "Lucy Gets Involved" (1968).
JAY NOVELLO
Tumblr media
Novello started acting with Lucy on her radio show and was also seen on "I Love Lucy." In this series he plays Mr. Bundy, candy shop owner and safe cracker , and (1963) Tony DiBello, owner of an Italian Restaurant (1964) where Lucy takes her millionaire date.

Disney Princesses x Marvel
A diversion from the IAC universe...
This started as a Disney Princesses thing but expanded to include female characters from Disney films that would fit the bill.
Basically finding a Marvel equivalent for Disney characters.
Snow White:
Snow White - Struggling to think of a Marvel character that is good at sleeping, with a weakness for poison apples.
She does charm all the animals when she's singing, maybe Nature Girl? Or Nina Gurzky from the Apocalypse movie.
Cinderella:
Cinderella - Sersi (w blue colour scheme)
After her Fairy Godmother's transmutation magic (Pumpkin into coach etc).
Alice in Wonderland:
Alice - Stature
#eat me #drink me
Peter Pan:
Tinkerbell - Pixie (w green colour scheme)
Obviously.
Wendy - Wasp (w light blue colour sceme)
Mimicking Tinkerbell's size and flight with tech.
Sleeping Beauty:
Aurora - Dr Strange (w pink colour scheme)
After Maleficent's power set
The Sword in the Stone:
Mad Madam Mim - Morgan le Fay
Maybe giving Mim too much credit here.
Mary Poppins:
Mary Poppins - Scarlet Witch
Reality altering powers? Check. Scarier than she looks? Check.
Jungle Book:
Shanti - Beast Master
From Mowgli's affinity with animals.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks:
Miss Eglantine Price - Magik maybe?
A better magic user than she gives herself credit for.
Robin Hood:
Maid Marian - Hawkeye (Clint Barton w pink colour sceme)
After Robin's archery skills.
The Black Cauldron:
Princess Eilonwy - Sylvie (w Black body armour, white cloak and pink trousers)
Black cauldron is all a bit mystical isn't it? Maybe I should watch it again.
The Little Mermaid:
Ariel - Namor (w Purple top and green bottoms)
After King Triton's powers. There is a Marvel Triton (Inhumans), but his look and powers don't match up.
Beauty and the Beast:
Belle - Beast of the X-Men (w yellow costume and brown fur)
After the Beast's powers and Belle's smarts.
Aladdin:
Jasmine - Captain Agrabah
This is a reach. After the Genie's reality altering powers. Jamie Braddock was the first character to spring to mind, brother to Captain Britain, and the movie is set in the fictional city of Agrabah.
Pocahontas:
Pocahontas - Ghost Rider
No powers in Pocahontas but there is a Powhatan Ghost Rider in the comics.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame:
Esmerelda - Dazzler maybe?
Cos she sings and dances? idk
Hercules:
Megara - Marvel's Hercules or Mephisto?
From the power set of the protagonist/antagonist of her movie.
Mulan:
Mulan - Agent May
Obviously.
Tarzan:
Jane Porter - Kazar
Obviously.
The Emperor's New Groove
Yzma - Sersi again?
Because of her transmutation skills? idk
Atlantis: The Lost Empire:
Kida - Namora/Namorita
Who else?
Lilo and Stitch:
Lilo - Love (from Love and Thunder)
Nani - The Mighty Thor
In the scenario where OG Thor sacrifices himself so that Mighty Thor can look after her little sister.
The Incredibles:
Elastigirl - Mr(s) Fantastic
Violet Parr - The Invisible Woman
Perfect power sets.
Wall-E:
EVE - Jocasta
Had to be.
The Princess and the Frog:
Tiana - Sister Voodoo
Gender swapped, after Shadow Man and Mama Odie's powers.
Tangled:
Rapunzel - Medusa (Inhumans)
Really long hair with magical powers...
Brave:
Merida - Hawkeye (Kate Bishop - Green colour scheme)
Perfect.
Wreck-It-Ralph:
Vanelope von Schweetz - Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
In a souped up racing cart/tiny hot rod.
Frozen:
Elsa - Ice Man
Anna - Ever since Frozen II I've thought that Anna should have plant based powers, so maybe Klara Plast? Groot?
Big Hero 6:
Go Go
Honey Lemon
These two already are Marvel characters.
Zootopia:
Judy Hopps - Umm...Rabbit Girl instead of Squirrel Girl? idk
Moana:
Moana - Can't think of an equivalent, even though she befriends a Polynesian demigod and calms a corrupted Goddess!
Onward:
Corey - There is actually a Marvel character called Manticore but he does not do this character justice.
Raya and the Last Dragon:
Raya - Blue Dragon from Marvel's Future Fight
She is called Blue DRAGON, she is a physical fighter like Raya, and she hails from Vietnam (Kelly Marie Tran is ethnically Vietnamese).
Encanto:
Abuela - Nick Fury
She knows how to put together a Team of supers.
Julieta - Heals with food. No equivalent in Marvel that I can think of.
Pepa - Storm or Crystal
Isabella - Plantwoman
Genderswapped Plantman.
Luisa - Captain Colombia
Super strength, agility and endurance like Captain America, but Luisa is Colombian.
Mirabel - Maria Hill
About to become Abuela's second in command/sucessor.

Here, have some writing!
This is a little mini fic I wrote a while ago Class Wars, an AU @brbuttons has within the Factory Rejects verse.
Behold, a story about Miranda Mary Piker. Daughter of the Headmaster and her teachers biggest fan. Well, until she starts to visit Bills candy shop and he reminds her she’s only 12. She’s allowed to be a kid. This here fic handles the fallout.
——
All good things must come to an end. Miranda knows this, though, she’d foolishly and ignorantly hoped it wouldn’t end so soon. It’s Friday morning as she hurriedly sweeps water over her frizzed braids, slipping her Mary Janes on as she snatches her bag and scurries out the door. Her parents as always work early, so early as to leave little Miss Piker home alone in the mornings to get off to school on her own. Normally, she leaves early enough to prowl the hallways as their unofficial hall monitor. These past few weeks however, she’s been indulging in that extra half hour of sleep Bill encouraged her to take advantage of.
“You can’t burn the candle at both ends and expect it to last long,” He’d said sagely, setting down a peppermint stick on the counter and sliding it over to her. Miranda had scoffed and adjusted her glasses but silently took the peppermint stick. He had a point. Always did.
Miranda practically skips up the steps to the school doors, slipping inside and hurrying off down the semi crowded hallways towards the pristine classroom door neatly labeled 7S. Normally, she’s the first one in, standing near the door as some mock sentry, adjusting her glasses and crowing Pratt based propaganda.
Today, the only sentry is Pratt himself.
Miranda feels something wrong the minute she’s in front of him. His neutral resting face is usually something resembling smugness or casual disinterest. Today, he stands with arms crossed, glowering. Miranda grips the straps of her school bag tightly. “Good Morning Misther Pratt.” She says obediently, staring up at him. His glowering does not falter as he looks at her, does not break out into that fake, perfect smile he usually gives her. “Miss Piker.” He says simply. He generally only uses their names if they’re in trouble. Miranda gulps.
“Come inside. I fear we have some unfortunate news to discuss. Don’t we?” He says, stepping aside. The hair on the back of her arms stands to attention as she follows his instructions, trying desperately to think what she’s done wrong. She’s done plenty wrong, she knows that, but she’s been so careful. Her parents haven’t heard any news of her spending time outside of school, her grades haven’t slipped, she’s brushed her teeth twice after every night of sneaking sweets-
Every seat is full except for her usual spot in the middle of the front row. She steps towards her desk to set down her things but Pratt clicks his tongue. She knows his little quirks well and freezes in place. Slowly sets her backpack onto the floor. Slowly turns around as Pratt closes the door. He folds his hands behind his back and strolls over to the front of the room, tutting and shaking his head. “Miranda Mary Piker. Grade A student, top of the class… beating out Gabriel Carver for the final seat in class 7S by mere points. By all intents and purposes a picture perfect student. A winner.” He says, staring down at her. Miranda instinctively folds her hands obediently in front of her, now painfully aware of every wrinkle and stray hair in her appearance. 7S children are supposed to be pristine. Perfect. Pratt sniffs and reaches behind him to take up the infamous conductor's baton that rests on the chalkboard ledge. He looks out at the rest of the children, sitting obediently in their seats. His scowl turns to a smirk.
He slowly starts to tap a rhythm onto his palm with the baton.
“And yet… recent events have proven otherwise. I have reason to suspect you, Miss Piker, have been colluding with the enemy. With Turkentine.” He says and the accusation causes a gasp to ring out across the classroom. A flush starts to creep up Miranda’s neck. She opens her mouth to defend herself but is quickly silenced with a look, Pratt slapping the baton onto the desk with a quick ‘thwap’.
“Should anyone have come to me with this information, why, I would have found it preposterous,” He says, now turning to address the room, “Insanity! But I have seen, with my own eyes, Miranda Mary Piker at the sweet shop in town. Not only engaging with its owner and Turkentine but even eating candy.” He says, his emphasis on the last few words making it sound like a criminal offense. It might as well be one in Pratt's class.
“Miss Piker, you wouldn’t happen to remember what my first words were to you all as a class?”
Miranda didn’t cry. She never cried. But being humiliated in front of the class, stared at… She feels the back of her throat tightening up.
“Um. You are our god, our… Our leader and our savior.” She says slowly, trying to take a deep breath.
Pratt purses his lips and tilts his head, feigning confusion. “No, I don’t think that’s quite right. I believe I said… Messiah. I am your messiah. Can you say that, Miss Piker?”
Miranda’s face burns. “You… are our… Methhhiah.” She mumbles quietly. Her lisp turns the word into a jumble of ‘th’ and hard ‘s’ sounds. Pratt's face contorts into a wicked smile she’s used to seeing, but never aimed at her.
“What was that, child? Say it louder.”
“Mesthiah…”
“Louder.”
“Mesthhhiah.”
The room is silent except for her and Pratt, as she tries her best to look obediently up at him. Hold eye contact Miranda. Winners don’t cry.
Pratt sniffs disinterestedly and scans the classroom once again. The faces he sees must look sufficiently scared into submission because he turns to Miranda once again. “I must remind you child that in 7S, we are here to build winners. Winners are not born. Winning is achieved through hard, diligent work.” He says. He uses one finger to push his glasses up on his nose.
“Hands on the desk.”
The air feels like it’s sucked out of the room as every child gasps and holds their breath. Hands on the desk to receive a smack is standard punishment, especially in 7S. But not once, not ever, has it been Miranda.
“No- shir, please I can explain!” She tries but flinches as he snaps his head towards her, eyes glinting behind his frames.
“I won’t tell you again child. Hands. On. The desk.” He says. His voice is cold like steel and as Miranda approaches and tries not to shiver. She puts her hands on the desk, palms up. She wants to close her eyes and hide away from it all but she knows she’s to keep her eyes open and watch. So she does.
Pratt whips his conductors baton down onto her open palms, hard. Despite her best efforts, a whimper escapes her trembling lips even as she tries to calm herself. It stings like hell and will surely bruise she thinks to herself as he whips it down again. Then a third time. Tears sting her eyes but he pulls away and sets the baton back onto the chalkboards ledge. “To your seat, Piker. Let that be a reminder of what happens when you lose focus in 7S.” He says stiffly.
Miranda nods quickly, taking a shaky breath. “Yes shir. It won’t happen again.”
“Good. Now, everyone, let’s open our arithmetic books to page-“
Class passes by torturously slow. Half of the class looks at her with smug looks and the other half regards her with pity. Miranda can’t tell which she hates more. When the bell rings for lunch Miranda knows the first thing she should do is study like usual. Get cracking on her homework, forget these notions of rest, disregard her newly found routine of going out to have lunch.. Yet her feet carry her as fast as she can to the now familiar facade of Bill’s candy shop where she shoulders open the door and stares at the kindly gentleman behind the counter. He turns with that soft familiar smile that turns to a face of concern as soon as he sees Miranda's distress. “Hey now,” He says with such genuine softness it brings tears to Miranda’s eyes, “What’s going on?”
It takes a lot of deep breaths, soothing words and a peppermint stick to finally get Miranda to talk. As she does the tall girl slumps in on herself and mumbles, tucking her hands under her arms to hide evidence of her supposed failures, her usual confidence gone. When she’s done she looks up at Bill again, tears shining behind her thick glasses. He stands before her covering his mouth with one hand with a look of horror and pity.
The bell rings behind her. Miranda tenses at the sudden noise while Bill relaxes at the sight of whoevers walks in. “Mr. Turkentine.” He breathes and closes his open hand into a fist, pressing it against his mouth. Miranda jerks up and nearly chokes on her candy. “I have to go.” She says quickly, slipping off her stool. “I can’t let anyone from class see me here again! I’m already in trouble and if my parents found out, oh god-” She starts to ramble. Scrambling to gather her bag, she pauses when Bill clears his throat. “Miranda.” He says carefully.
“Show him what’s happened.” Miranda swallows and turns to face Turkentine who stands at the doorway, face screwed up with confusion at the conversation he has clearly missed. She takes a breath then holds out her hands, palm up to reveal the thin and tender line of bruising. David moves closer, dropping his bag and kneeling to meet her height.
“Christ. What did you do to get this?” He mutters.
“That’s from Mr. Pratt. He did that as punishment for talking to you.” Bill says. His usually gentle voice has an edge of hardness to it. The idea of anyone hitting a child is despicable, let alone hitting a child as punishment for talking to another person. Turkentine blinks twice at her hands. Then he looks up at Miranda in disbelief. “He did this, for talking to me?” He asks.
Miranda nods silently. He looks to Bill behind the counter.
Turkentine clenches his jaw before standing and snatching his bag back up. He turns on his heel and marches for the door. “Wait! Where are you going?” Miranda cries, running after him.
He pauses with his hand on the handle as he turns to look at her.
“I’m going to have a talk with Mr. Twat.”

Summary:
A week after her performance at Max Dillon's club, Gwen ends up meeting with a bizarre villian she's never met before, though their interaction ends up being rather anti climactic while she's in a hurry to meet up with her bandmates back at the school.
[ 1 ], [ x ], [ 3 ], [ 4 ],
As you could see, the life of a Superhero wasn't the most glamorous thing in the world, but for the first time in a while… something didn't go wrong. The Mary Jane’s played three full songs down at Max Dillon’s club, and sure - it wasn't anything fantastic but it was progress. The whole thing was more of an excuse to hang out- well that's how it stared. After what happened to Peter, Gwen and Mary Jane started to play together, just to sorta… think about something else? They've been friends for years, Glory and Betty came in later but Em Jay and her were the original pair. Guess that makes her the co-creator, huh? She certainly didn't act like it with how often she missed their deadlines… oh please, they usually spent their time in the music room goofing around for an hour or two and maybe playing a song or two. Though it has been a week now since their performance- maybe that'd get the group to start taking all of this more seriously… now, yet that would have to come later. This was supposed to be her day off too- though in the city that never sleeps, guess that goes for crime too, huh? Gwen, or rather Spider-Woman had found herself in the middle of a construction site, squatting down on a column set up by the workers. Buckets of cement and unfinished bricks laid out across a square of land deep in the heart of Manhattan, she stared down at a man, one who had scared off the whole crew, destroying anything in his way, just a rampage through the city… that must sound pretty intimidating, right? Maybe it's The Lizard! I hear you wondering, or- oh! Maybe Doctor Octopus, right? Well unfortunately for all of us it wasn't anybody like that, and Gwen’s confusion spoke for itself.
“Uhh-... I- I don't even know what to say about this one, dude.”
Her Lenses squinted in on this figure before her. He stood at over eight feet tall, but bear with me here-... He was more brick than body, no arms whatsoever as his face screamed out in a texture of hardened clay, with a body the shape of a rectangle. This was The Wall, and he was desperate to fight Spider-Woman… she was having such a good day, too.
“So brick brain, this how you get your kicks?” Spider-Woman laughed, arms crossed as she let her body fall forward, landing effortlessly on her feet with this mammoth of a man in front of her. “Alright…”
“Huh- OH!” Seemed like he was a smidge surprised to see her. “Uh- yeah! You're damn right I do!” The Wall shouted back, his voice deep and distorted. “The wall-crawling freak! I was starting to wonder when you would show!” His foot slammed into the ground, echoing out the lot as he struggled to keep this full wall of a body upright.
“Ah yeah, I had class- my bad.” If it wasn't obvious enough by the more than filled backpack barely staying attached with two stretches of fabric over her arms, filled with notebooks, her phone- plus those clothes she has to throw off everytime some new bad guy shows up.
“Well you listen here, this is one wall you'll never climb!” It seemed like this guy was just ignoring every word to come out of Gwen’s mouth. “Just try it! Try and lay a finger on me!”
Spider-Woman was just… baffled, and honestly wouldn't you be too? Sure, she's dealt with some weirdos but this was just bizarre. “How do I always meet the strangest men…” She whispered to herself, before readying a fist. “Alright man, you asked for it…” Was this guy just waiting on her to do something? It was impossible to tell what his intent was here- why'd he even want to fight her?! What- was she the reason he was… bitten by a radioactive wall, what the fuck- right? No matter the reason, with all the time in the world, Gwen held the fabric around her fist tight, balled up into a fist- all before bludgeoning her own hand against The Wall’s… skin? No matter what it was it hurt like hell, and it barely chipped him.
“FUCK- OW!” Spider-Woman screamed, shaking the wrist that she punched the man with- that was real brick! Why the hell did-... It's fine, it's whatever! “Agh-! That... Smarts.” With an annoyed look through the mask, she stared down the wall, still with any number of broken finger bones- ow…
“HAH!” The Wall yelled. “I told you so! Now- you'll experience the unending rage of the Wall…!” Gwen grimaced, her hands on her hips as it looked like he was about to just-... Fall on her, what- she pushed both palms against The Wall, keeping him upright.
“Wh- why? Why though?”
“What do you… mean?”
“I don't know what happened to you, but I didn't cause it so like- what's the… what's the deal, seriously.” She sounded a tad exasperated, but in reality, it was all just confusion.
“W-Well- I couldn't exactly keep living normally like this!” He yelled back.
“So?! Those two things aren't mutually exclusive! You don't HAVE to-... Alright, look- can we not just take a minute and talk about this?!”
“Why would I ever talk with you?!”
“BECAUSE THIS IS INSANE!” Gwen’s eyes were bulging out of her mask, hands out at either side of her body in an attempt to give some scope to The Wall about how moronic this all really felt.
“I-... Mgh...”
And so
They found a bench.
One that could handle the weight of an eight-foot-tall brick man. The Spider-Woman and The Wall sat side by side on a bench just near the construction site in a park, and yes- people stared, by God did people stare. The hero in white tilted her head to The Wall. It was actually a pretty nice day, even with her hand a tad mangled.
“...People are looking.” The Wall whispered.
“Ah- pshhh, don't mind them. Look- they're staring cuz of me, not you.” Oh, what's a white lie in the grand scheme of things.“Anyway, why are you… scaring off people and- trying to destroy buildings, what's the deal.” This wasn't Gwen trying to stall for time or anything, I mean why would she- this is The Wall. Even if she couldn't punch it, it's not like taking him down would take a particular amount of effort.
“I guess, I- I’m angry.” He sighed. Gwen would be too if she was a wall-...
Pffft,
Gwen snickered, against her better judgment.
“Hey!” His ‘face’ contorted in anger, leaning closer on Gwen while this steel bench they found themselves on creaked under the weight. “Don't laugh!” He shouted
“I’m not!” Her eyes, or- lenses were wide open, with both hands up as a sign of surrender, until he eventually backed off. “How did it actually happen though, like, did you fall in a vat of electric bricks, giant welder, big bucket of clay-”
“Stop.”
“Nono, c’mon, one more–” She insisted.
“I was crushed under a bunch of bricks.” He admitted, under his breath with an embarrassed tone.
Spider-Woman was more just in shock. “That CAN'T be true- no way-” She snickered. “You did NOT!” She insisted… she really wasn't trying to be insensitive but how is that even possible…? “No FUCKING way!” He just, fell under a bunch of bricks and became… The Wall! Speaking of which- “Look… all that aside, do you have a name? Like an actual name- I don't wanna keep having to call you ‘The Wall.’”
He sighed, leaning back on the bench with yet another creek. “Yeah, uh- Joshua.”
“Joshua! Hey, isn't that so much more humanising than The-goddamn-Wall!” She pat his back while speaking, or-... Where a back would be. “I guess I sorta see where you're coming from- I mean what do you even do in a situation like that?” She laughed a little again, but gave Joshua’s side a small slap, despite him being unable to feel it. “That's not an excuse to go on a tantrum around the city though, man!” She sighed again, leaning back with him, both arms casually sat behind the bench. “I don't think you're a bad dude or anything Joshua, you just… seem like you had a psycho episode or something. After turning into a wall-” She cleared her throat. “But hey man, maybe things aren't-... So bad? You're pretty sturdy, right.”
Joshua chuckled. “And a Wall.”
“Well, let's try and stay on the positives, yeah?” Spider-Woman gave a friendly wink through those massive white lenses. “I know it isn't… even remotely the same thing, but I wasn't always like this either.” That seemed to get his attention, turning as far as he could to face the bug-eyed hero. “Yeah, uh- freak accident actually. We had this school trip to Oscorp– I… knew a guy who was, close with the guy in charge there-” Gwen coughed, continuing on. “Turns out - they're making these genetically modified spiders. One got out, bit me- riiight here.” She raised up her hand, pointing to a spot near the bottom of her thumb. “Rest is history.”
“I… always figured you were a mutant.” Joshua chuckled again. “At least you got lucky with yours- I don't have any arms.”
“Maybe you can become famous. Or like… maybe they could crash monster trucks into you on TV, I dunno.” Josh laughed again. It seemed like he was at least getting a little better, he was just scared shitless it seemed. As the two were talking a beep could be heard from pretty close by… oh! Her backpack. Spider-Woman was quick to stick her hand in, feeling some denim, an old shirt, notebooks, pens- aha! Her phone. It wasn't anything overly impressive and there were any number of cracks along the screen, it kinda came with the territory. With a click of the taped-on power button, the screen barely lit up to reveal a text message from Betty, huh? Not the worst one it could've been. The text read as follows:
B.B:
‘where r u???’
“Ahhh! Right- rightright-” Gwen muttered, gaining Joshua’s attention in the process.
‘5 mins away xoxo’
She frantically typed through the fabric of her suit
“Everything good?” Even looking like he did, Josh still went through the effort to act kind, that… surprised Gwen.
“Yeah- yeah man, just… my friends, I was supposed to be at practice like twenty minutes ago.” Standing on her own two feet, and picking up her luggage- she turned back to this new friend of hers. The Wall. He was just… sorta down to earth actually.
“Ah, sorry to keep you.”
“Oh- no man, it's not your fault.” Gwen reassured.
“Yeah, it is.” Yeahh, it was.
“Well hey Josh, I know I wasn't- that helpful but if you want some real help take this advice. Head down to the station and ask for Captain Stacy.”
“But I–”
“Yeah- yeahyeah, I know. Just don't bother with any of the others, this city’s police department stinks… but that's why you gotta head to Stacy.” God. What was she doing? “I can't say that he can get your arms back or anything but he won't be freaked out by you. It'll be for the better, I like to think.”
“Mh… you sure?” It made her mad that she was so sure. “Seems risky.”
“Listen, just don't commit any more crimes, and-... Don't mention my name once you get in there, we have never met. For all intents and purposes you do not know Spider-Woman!... Kay?” She was expressive with her hand movements, backing away in the direction of the school.
Joshua sighed. “...Alright. If you're sure.”
“Yesss! See Josh, not everything is terrible– seriously, don't commit any crimes, I am SO busy!” Gwen clapped both hands together before turning her back completely, getting a running start across the park before pushing down on her palm with a pair of homemade webshooters bringing her up and off of the ground as within seconds she was airborne, zipping from one skyscraper to another as she swung in the direction of Midtown High School.
