Hello, hello my little lovelies,

So much to catch up on these days! Everyone all at once seemed to have some type of news to share with me. 

You all know being on the ice is meant to keep us all cool and level-headed, right? There were so many punches thrown at the ice skating event, not just once, not even twice, but three whole times. Eagan Connolly punched Huntsville Daily’s very own Samuel Ahn over what was reportedly, and unsurprisingly, something to do with that missing brother of hers again. If she keeps that attitude up no one is going to be willing to assist her. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, sweetheart. 

Seeming to take a cue from her is that wildchild from the Westfall family, Esther Westfall, who is just as short tempered as ever. They were seen punching one Eldon Harcourt, though he seemed to take it decently well, and didn’t engage into a full brawl. The same can’t be said for Joey Albright who fully attacked Louis Ryan and had to be pulled off him. Not exactly the behavior you’d expect from everyone’s favorite heartthrob but it seems love makes fools of us all. Let’s just hope that Hope Macgillivray is worth it. 

However, not everyone at the ice skating party was quick to come to blows. It seems that there are at least some of you who would rather make love than war. Jackson Miller was spotted getting cozy with Lavender Parsons, ending in what was apparently quite the steamy kiss, if my sources are to be believed. Now I know that some readers may be scandalized by this news, but I for one think it is wonderful that after everything she went through with her mother’s disappearance last year, Miss Parsons seems to be coming into her own as a young woman. All I can say is, be careful out there, men of Huntsville! There’s a new heartbreaker on the rise.

Here’s a toast to one town event being mostly a success with no serious incidents. Hopefully this is the start of a new and lighter year for all of us.

Chapter 11 - The Edge Of Regret

“Why did you save me…?” She mumbled in between sniffles, her head craning further into his chest. Rafe’s attention snapped to her, his thumb pausing in its movements. He could have easily used Samuel to find Avery’s treasure without her. Still, in a split second, he’d watched her go over the edge; being dragged by her brother had filled him with a dread Rafe hadn’t felt in years, not since he had to escape from that Panama prison all those years ago with Samuel and Nathan.  Rafe gritted his jaw as he embraced her tighter. “You would assist me better than Samuel ever would.” He excused. It was a lie more to himself than for her benefit. “You don’t wish for me to die in a horribly painful manner, unlike him.” Sara pulled away from his embrace, his arm going slack around her. She looked up at him, her green orbs shining through red puffy eyes. It was a sight that made his stomach lurch in an unsettling manner, in more ways than one. His face was grim as he stared down at her, trying to remain emotionless and not give anything away. “Do you need…a moment?” Sara glanced away as she thought until her eyes trained back on him. She shook her head. “No, let's just get this over with.” Her tone was bitter, overly obvious that she just wanted to find the treasure and leave. Sara was done with Avery and his pirates, done with this adventure, and utterly done with Samuel. She knew that she’d have to break the news to Elena when she returned home, something she feared doing. Sara and Elena had become close, even more so than sisters-in-law, and for that, Sara knew that the news of Nathan’s passing would break her, even after the fight that had broken out between the married couple due to Samuel’s interference. Her hands dropped from his chest as his left her head and back, but he still reached out to grab her hand with his as she moved to follow after Nadine. Sara paused, looking back over her shoulder at him, seeing his expression. “There’s more to it, isn’t there?”

According to the files, Larry Parker’s first name is Laurence, the man we meet near Arcade machines is Morris Aubrey, and the fisherman is Coyote Nelson… but his description in the unreleased in-game encyclopedia also implies he died, so that might be inaccurate.

After having descended into the catacombs beneath Avery’s home, Samuel and Sara had let the group through the dark tunnels, having first travelled through a steel gate that shut close behind them, making it so that they couldn’t backtrack until Nadine called for one of her men to come and use the lever on the other side, they decided to press on, walking through winding tunnels until they came around a large wooden platform, making them halt. Some of the floors had fallen through, and when Sara shined her torch on what lay below, the sight of scattered wooden spikes greeted them and some dead pirates that had fallen victim to the trap. “Ladies first?” Samuel stated, looking at his sister. She stared back at him with a challenging glare. “Then be a gentleman and listen to what the lady wants. You go first.” Sara snapped back, making Samuel roll his jaw. Nadine stepped forward, aiming the barrel of her gun into the side of Samuel’s head. “You heard her. You go first.” She nudged the metal into his skull, reinforcing the point. “Not how I wanted to be dominated by two women…” Samuel muttered, stepping closer to the platform. Sara and Nadine shared a disgusted look over the man’s less-than-appealing comment. As Samuel took hesitant steps over each platform square, Sara followed up behind him. “Nothing better than sibling bonding, huh Sara?” “Don’t make me push you in, Sam.” Sara yelled back at him, but her brother just laughed at the remark, continuing to work out the puzzle board as he went along. As he made it to the other side, Sara was close behind, the sibling’s path being followed by Shoreline and Rafe. Continuing further into the catacombs, they found a room with three doorways, but two were caved in, leaving only one route to take. “Let’s hope it’s the right one.” Sara sighed, taking the only option that they had to press on, but Rafe Stopped her, forcing Samuel in front of her, using the man as a meat shield for any traps they might still encounter. And Sara let him.

Giancarlo didn't really have much of an opinion about the way his mom opted to live her life. He never really asked about the relationship she had with his father - whom he spent most of his time with - and while he was excited to have a little sister, it just wasn't something that struck him as odd. Maybe the whispers weren't about how cute he was, and it was more about how unusual it was that his mother seemed to love to date long term but never marry, commit to kids but not a wedding ring. He never really cared, though. Why should he? He was loved and cared for, by both his mom and his dad. Who cared about marriage?

A mischievous kid at heart, Giancarlo loved to pull pranks and mouth off at school, often winding up in detention. It wasn't that he was a bad kid - in fact, it was quite the opposite. He had a very large heart and loved helping people - including making them smile. Seeing his classmates light up at his shenanigans just encouraged him, and even when his antics bordered on mean or bullying, it was never intentional. He just leaned too hard into the bit.

No one liked the paradox; but Giancarlo figured the plus side was that now his family was forced to stay in one place - himself included. His father had talked many times about sending him to college, but that wasn't really anything Giancarlo wanted to do. He just wanted to hang out with his friends, skating around town and talking until it was imperative they get home. It wasn't that he didn't have any aspirations - he just loved the laid back life of being a kid too much to let it go.

Giancarlo is goofy, and never really lost that mischievous streak, but he wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his back or his just purchased coffee if you're having a shitty day. Family is everything to him, and it's a big part of why he still lives with his dad (though part of it is also so his dad can keep an eye on him and make sure he's home safe before dark). Kind and compassionate, he'll still be the first person to jump to be in on a surprise party.

Bite Club Gang:

A little something about the Bite Club, they are a group of (mostly) girls and nbs in their 20s started by Sawyer and Lilith. They all wear matching jackets and have no issues throwing their fists around for the right cause. Sawyer always makes sure they all have working bicycles they can use to get around town as a group. They hang out but also so certain things in the community to help those who need it, for example helping vulnerable people get home before dark, fighting off any creeps from those who can't defend themselves, and making deliveries for the elderly who can't do so themselves.
