i really wanna write a fic where Orion Walburga Cygnus and Druella all like get into a car crash or something and die so Bellatrix Andromeda Narcissa Sirius and Regulus all have to reunite after not seeing each other in years to plan their parents funeral 

as of ships Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa will all be married to their cannon husbands but Bella is in an open marriage and starts hooking up with Rita while Narcissa has like a discovery about herself while there. She meets Alecto and Zabini and hooks up with them a few times before meeting Alice

Sirius will be married to Remus but he’ll bring James along with him and James and Regulus will fall in love while theyre there

there's a thing in the summer evening, when the sun goes down and the moon is high and full in the sky, cooling everything off just slightly, where the surrounding neighborhood kids come out and play baseball in a makeshift baseball field and everyone gets really into it. like, really into it. they have to bring their own battery operated lights for the field, they have bets running on the different teams playing (a few dollars, baseball cards, packs of gum, coins, stickers, yo-yo's, single cigarettes (how'd those get in there?) sunglasses, watches, candy, you name it).

and no adults allowed. not that they encroach on the fun, but the first game starts at one in the morning so who's got the time?

and since sirius left to live with james, regulus is shut up in the house and has to hear about the great baseball extravaganza from barty in a "your brother is on the james potter all-star team i've got $50 in the pool, we have to go to the tournament" kinda way. and regulus is like "my mother would actually kill me and explicitly forbids it but i'll think about it."

but barty shows up just after midnight on game day and starts throwing rocks at regulus' window to get him to come out except he runs out of small rocks and moves to bigger ones and gets impatient and throws the big rocks harder and then oops, one went right through a window, except this house isn't regulus' house. regulus' house is two doors down, it's just hard to see in the dark. so barty moves two doors down and finds some smaller rocks and starts over again until regulus comes out. scowling, but he's out.

and they start the long walk to the makeshift baseball field and it's hot and the air is sticky and sweet with honeysuckles. and barty and regulus talk. and barty buys regulus boiled peanuts and crackerjack from a kid's makeshift concession stand and they sit in the makeshift bleachers side by side with their knees knocking together. and barty manages to make sly remarks that make regulus laugh. and regulus makes last minute bets and watches the game, and starts getting into it, and barty smiles at the way he's on the edge of his seat, brows furrowed in concentration. barty thinks he even sees regulus clap once, and it's fun watching regulus, more fun than watching the game, even.

so fun that barty says he'll get regulus the next night to watch the next two teams play. regulus agrees, and they make this a routine and barty thinks, finally.

but then it's james' team that's up next and james walks up to the plate and does a trick with his baseball bat with a grin so-wide and a wink, and regulus' eyes are as wide a saucers for a brief second before he catches himself but it doesn't matter. barty's seen it, and knows instantly he's made a mistake. he's signed himself up for a summer of looking at regulus look at james. and he's doomed.

Being a middle child in the Marauders fandom is tough because I understand Sirius’ desire to leave his family’s toxicity. But I also understand why Regulus felt he had to stay. I understand how much it hurt Lily to feel unloved by her sister, but I also understand Petunia’s jealousy. I understand Narcissa’s sense of duty, Bellatrix’s descent into madness, and Andromeda choosing her happiness over her family’s expectations for her.

It’s a constant roller coaster of emotions every time someone brings up the sibling dynamics of these characters.

It’s also a constant battle to try not to cry when I think about them too much.

HEADCANON OF THE DAY #5: (noble flower!!!)

Alice would be obsessed with bugs and insects and invertebrates all the like, but Narcissa was TERRIFIED of them. When they moved in together and Alice hesitantly showed Narcissa the cutest lizard ever, and it was called Cissa, just like Narcissa. From that moment onwards Narcissa loved all the bugs and insects Alice had, and always helped her find new ones

I've mentioned it on tiktok but my favourite soul crushing headcanon is probably that the death eaters got the longbottoms' address because Alice wrote a final goodbye letter to Cissa, then Bella saw the return address on it when she was snooping

And immediately took the information to her death eater friends and planned their next little trick

The betrayal when Narcissa found that out set them one step further apart forever

thinking about how, yeah, sirius left regulus but andromeda left sirius before that. andromeda who would always look out for sirius as family gatherings and events. andromeda who would be the only one to buy him christmas and birthday presents for fun and not for practicality. andromeda who saw him one last time a few months before she ran away and noticed that he was more like her than he knew.

like, imagine her desperately pulling him aside while everyone else is distracted and and trying to say goodbye in her own way while also letting him know that running doesn't make him a coward. it makes him braver than most. that it's okay. that it'll be okay. but she's talking about how creation stories often begin with separation. how the sky and the ocean had to split to make the earth. how you have to cut off the dead roots of a plant to grow new life. how sometimes you have to leave in order to begin.

and sirius is too young and he doesn't understand what she's trying to tell him, even though he knows it's important. and he still doesn't understand months later when she runs away with ted and is burned off the family tree. but her words keep him up at night. until finally it's his turn and it all starts falling into place. he's the sky and regulus is the ocean. he's the plant and regulus is the root. and andromeda was trying to tell him that there's an agony in splitting apart, in cutting yourself loose and running but she believed he could do it. she was trying to tell him all those years ago. andromeda always knew that his story was the same at hers, one born out of separation.
