Easily the best at knowing what to say. He’s been struggling with his body image his entire life and has a wonderful grasp on what health specific to his clan looks like.

Choji strives to make topics surrounding weight and body shape normal and neutral in the household, so if you're asking about weight, it’s because some other stupid kid said something.

You are always reminded of your spirit, skills, and capacity for kindness rather than your looks.

Choji ensures that your home is a positive and safe place to talk about anything.

𓆃 Hinata - Finding a Voice

Hinata has always been a very patient person and knows how hard it is to break out of one’s shell. As a parent, she provides a space for you to be heard and to feel safe.

Hinata believes that you can’t force things when it comes to your growth and tries to nurture you until you have the strength to do it on your own.

Not to say that she doesn’t give a little push now and then. Hinata herself always regretted the amount of time it took for her to take chances and be vulnerable with friends, so she gives gentle nudges and reassurance when she can.

𓆃 Ino - Normalcy and Loss

A part of Ino always wanted to be a normal girl. There was a balance between civilian life and shinobi life that she couldn’t quite strike, especially when responsibility was thrust onto her so young.

She’ll want to go out with you often, whether it’s getting sweet drinks, getting your nails painted, asking for the friend-group gossip, or other fun activities. 

A part of her craves getting more of those experiences in her youth, but she very much wants you to have those experiences for yourself and to have a consistent parent who “gets you.”

She definitely tries too hard at times— it’s embarrassing sometimes— but she means well.

𓆃 Kiba - Bein’ a Guy

Kiba always had a loud bark, but when it came down to it, he didn’t meet all the goals he intended to meet. 

Being the energetic guy he is, he will be rooting for you from day one. Sometimes, you feel he gets more excited about projects and accomplishments than you. 

Kiba is always celebrating you and always bragging about you. He’s proud of you that you have goals— big or small— but more than anything, he wants you to live your life in a way that makes you happy.

If you’re happy, Kiba is dragging you out for celebratory ice cream.

𓆃 Lee - Bullying and Inadequacy 

Ehm. I mean, he means well?

You see, Gai took a very tough love approach with Lee meaning that Lee thinks if you push hard enough, you’ll find fulfillment... and that’s not for everyone. 

He’s also not great with his words. Every so often, he’ll say something encouraging, but sometimes he’s just emotionally clueless. 

If anything, you’ll always be celebrated for your uniqueness and what makes you you. 

Lee genuinely wants only what’s best for you; his pure intentions are always clear. 

𓆃 Naruto - Isolation

Poor Naruto, seeing you isolated would probably make him so sad. And angry, for that matter! Naruto isn’t above punting some jerk kid who made you mad (which probably isn’t great for the Hokage).

He’s a little goofy in the sense that he’ll probably take an over-interest in the things you enjoy. He’ll insist that you do things that interest you together.

He’s also really into pep talks and giving unsolicited advice (that probably isn’t really that great).

Naruto would totally give you pocket money to enjoy a meal if he’s busy.

𓆃 Neji - Unfair Family Dynamic

Well, first of all, Neji isn’t letting this happen. 

I’m struggling to write a headcanon because Neji wouldn’t allow this. He wouldn’t allow the secondary-branch stuff to happen.

He’d be a fierce advocate for you, even before birth. But Neji is such a grumpy dad. The affection is there; it’s just through action.

He’s also not very good with words, so the affirmation is straightforward, but he would go to war for you.

𓆃 Sakura - Inadequacy

Your two best friends are also gods, huh? Sakura knows how that is, and she’s probably picked up on it before you tell her. 

She’s reticent about things and always seems to tell you exactly what you need at that moment. Sakura is very encouraging, helping you problem-solve to figure out what your strengths and passions are.

She suggests that you pursue those, admiring your accomplishments, whether big or small.

𓆃 Sasuke - Having your family murdered in front of your very own eyes Going Down a Troubled Path

Yikes. Don’t go down a Troubled Path ™ while Sasuke is around.

I’m sorry. If you tried to leave the village, Sasuke wouldn’t be above punting you. I’m just the messenger.

Sasuke would be there for you, or at least try to, but as another shinobi who’s not great with words, he’d usually end up looming. 

Maybe there are times when he can see your anger, and you can achieve a nice, quiet moment with him, but Sasuke will drag you out of darkness no matter what it takes.

𓆃 Shikamaru - Losing a Sensei

Shikaku knew best, and that’s what Shikamaru does with you. He’s straight to the point, not very into hugs or anything like that, but he does have an eye on you emotionally. 

Shikamaru already knows, and he drives straight to the point, unarming you so that you have a space to feel your grief. 

𓆃 Shino - Losing a Sibling-like Person

Another quiet Dad. He just wants what’s best for you too. 

It’s all about the memories and the momentos. Shino would encourage you to cope and heal at your own rate but not forget the person important to you.

Shino would be there with you in your grief but ensure the focus remained on you. You would have space, and Shino would show his love and support through small gestures. 

𓆃 Tenten - Bein’ a Gal

Tenten stuck a nice balance in her life, and she wants to pass that on to you too! Maybe you’re not the flashiest ninja in your grade, but Tenten is already working with you on a strategy on how to improve that thing you like!

Never for a second has Tenten treated you like something to be overlooked. Anything you want to do, you do!

Zero hesitation. Mention one idea to her; she’s already helping you put it in motion. To her, there’s nothing worth overlooking in the first place.

What I Ship Because I’ve Been Semi-Vague

I talk about shipping a lot, but since I talk about whatever’s popular over what I actually like (this may or may not change), you might not know what I actually ship. Or you do because you stalked me or read the few fanfictions that I posted here and will probably move because it’s weird to have fanfics on a mostly commentary focused blog.

Regardless, for anyone who’s interested, here’s what I actually do like. Also, just to make sure that all of my credibility goes down the toilet, all accept one (maybe two) of these is a crackship.

The Ships I Sold My Soul To

These are the ships I like the most. Yes, I’ve already imagined AUs with them and I’ve given them all children. I promise I have a thought process that makes sense (to me) behind them all. However, I don’t want to turn this into a 100,000 word essay, so I’ll try to summarize what I like about them in 1-2 (potentially run-on) sentences. Just know, there’s more to all of these.

NejiNaru (Neji Hyuga x Naruto Uzumaki) - Both characters had their lives decided/changed at birth against their will, but walked out of it with vastly different perspectives. This combined with them having complimentary personalities makes me think that they could have very positive impacts on each other’s lives if they were given just a bit more time to get invested in each other.

GaaSaku (Gaara x Sakura Haruno) - Both characters would greatly benefit from having (emotional) support in a relationship and both characters are deathly loyal to a fault. They also both need and have different perspectives that they wouldn’t hesitate in sharing with each other.

SasuIno (Sasuke Uchiha x Ino Yamanaka) - Both are highly confident, independent people who wouldn’t take shit from each other (which is important when both absolutely pull some shit). They’re also loyal to anyone who earns it, are very driven, don’t stand for people getting hurt unjustly, care deeply for their clans and clan traditions, and roll their eyes at their friends’ shenanigans despite everyone knowing that they’d both kill and die for them.

ChouTen (Chouji Akimichi x TenTen) - They are similar in the best ways and different where it counts. TenTen would motivate Chouji to work harder then complain with him about how hard it is to work hard and Chouji would absolutely help her have more faith in ninjas being able to become great with hard work alone.

ShikaKiba (Shikamaru Nara x Kiba Inuzuka) - Like Sasuke and Ino, they come across as very different on the outside but have a lot of similarities when you dig a little deeper. Along with them being good to have in each other’s lives, each other’s families would also be good influences on them (Shikamaru would benefit from being around very expressive and strong female role models, and Kiba would benefit from being around patient people with higher IQs).

TemaHina (Temari x Hinata Hyuga) - They could relate with each other when it comes to growing up as the older sisters trained to be weapons since birth overlooked in favor of their very talented younger siblings with physically absent moms and emotionally absent, abusive fathers that are not only skilled ninja but also hold great social-political power, but they could still offer each other different perspectives. Temari could help Hinata gain more confidence and stand up for herself while Hinata can help Temari learn how to approach situations with kindness rather than the anger/violence that’s been taught to her.

ShinoLee (Shino Aburame x Rock Lee) - These two are so fucking different and they cover each other’s blind spots so fucking well. Rock Lee is very passionate and memorable, but he doesn’t realize he can rely on others (seriously, he does everything alone) while Shino doesn’t have direction and is insecure about not sticking out, but he’s characterized as being very aware of the importance of teamwork, even when it’s with people outside of team 8.

KakuDei (Kakuzu x Deidara) - Both characters value respect and strength, are able to keep a clear mind even when their short tempers get the better of them, and are deceptively intelligent. Kakuzu could also benefit from taking more risks and Deidara could benefit from keeping his head on the ground, both of which the other could force help them to do.

ItaHida (Itachi Uchiha x Hidan) - Both of them are so devoted to their beliefs that it’s actually a problem (they both only think inside the box and are the opposite of self aware) and both of them would jump at the opportunity to call the other out on it. In the cases where they wouldn’t be able to influence (Itachi making Hidan a bit more patient, Hidan making Itachi more willing to call out bullshit, etc) or call out each other enough to change, they’d be able to easily cover for the other’s weaknesses (like, so easily that they’d be a horrific combat pair).

KisaSaso (Kisame Hoshigaki x Sasori) - These two know what it’s like to believe one thing for years and years then have your worldview shattered in an instant, making them potentially very affirming for each other. They both also value honesty and commit when they decide to trust someone or do something because of their past experiences.

Comfort Ships

These are the ships that I don’t have too much reason behind (even if there is some), I’m not super committed to finding or making content for, and I don’t really think of them in any deep or sophisticated or analytic way. They’re comfy, they’re chill, and that’s all I want them to be.

SasuKarin (Sasuke Uchiha x Karin Uzumaki) - I’ve read so many think pieces about these two and their relationship that this was inevitable. I did this to myself.

ChouSaku (Chouji Akimichi x Sakura Haruno) - They both have body image issues and a deep love for their friends. They are so fluffy, I want them to cook together, and their child would be nicknamed Cherry.

LeeSaku (Rock Lee x Sakura Haruno) - Their development during the Chunin Exams still lives rent free in my brain and they’re both such romantics. This one I switch in and out of shipping.

LeeHina (Rock Lee x Hinata Hyuga) - They have a weird amount of similarities and they’d be cute. That’s it.

SasuHina (Sasuke Uchiha x Hinata Hyuga) - They look nice together and have a bit of a night sky aesthetic. This one is the one that I think about the least, like, I’m not entirely sure if I actually ship them or I just like looking at fanart of them.

Fanfic writing asks, 5 and 59?

Okay, this took a few days to answer but part of that was getting a clear count of my WIPs. I'm defining them as anything I've started with a general premise in mind (so I excluded the ones where I have a scene or two and nothing else). I also wanted to give a quick summary of the idea - so you'll notice that the ones I've already started posting have a different summary here than on AO3.

Bring Your Own Boy - Gajeel x Levy Modern college AU: The Fairies are an all girl cheer squad and if they can manage to make it through the season with no injuries Coach Mavis has agreed to let them bring in guys to stunt with.

Dreaming of You - Gajeel x Levy Soulmate AU: Since Levy was a girl she loved fairy tales. She especially loved the stories about soulmates dreaming of each other long before they meet. Her own dreams of the creepy clearing, people she's never, and dragons are not the same at all. Finding the origins of the myth though, that is right up her alley. Even if it means playing nice with the angry mage who insists he can speak a dead language.

See All My Scars - Gajeel x Levy Soulmate AU, but canon compliant: A soulmark is a dark patch of skin that shows where your soulmate will first touch you. Which is why Levy has been hiding the soulmark on the back of her neck for almost her entire life. Gajeel's soulmark on his fingers is harder to hide. But living with marks in full color may be harder than trying to ignore them.

Moving - Gray x Juvia Drabble collection: Moving forward doesn't always mean moving on. After Fairy Tail's disbandment, Juvia has to face Gray and accept whatever he wants. Even if it's her leaving his life for good.

Game of Thrones: 1

Cursed - Gendry x Arya Modern AU with Good Witch influence: The Stark family was not cursed. Despite opinions (and circumstantial evidence) to the contrary. And there was no way letting Robert set her up with one of his kids was going to fix the curse, even if there was one (which there isn't). Gendry just wanted to know his genetic risk for health issues, since his mom had passed when he was a kid and his dad was long gone before he was born. He didn't want (or need) this many siblings.

My Hero Academia: 1 The Space Between Where I Am and Where I Was - idek how to categorize this one yet What if: Enji and Rei body swap across time due to a Quirk interaction. They could make everything better, or so much worse. There's so much they don't know - about each other, about the dominos that fell to create their initial timeline.

Naruto: 4 Runaway Train - Gaara x Ino A harmless fling, that was the goal. But harmless flings don't leave scars. Even after the physical heals, the heart bleeds.

Harbor Having Fun - multi sips, 13 in total (I love to dream big and then torture myself) Modern AU: Christmas is here and everyone is getting ready for this year's annual party. So Naruto is asking for peace? They can manage that. Kiba just can't find out who Neji is dating, Hinata can't know what Naruto is planning, Tenten needs to face her commitment issues, Ino and Gaara have to keep their cold war civil, Temari has to keep her revenge plan from blowing up in her face, Shino and Karin have a secret, and a snowstorm threatens to strand people in different states. They can do this!

Missed Connections - Shisui x Sakura Soulmate AU: A thin green line and a Sharingan is Sakura's only hint to her soulmate's identity. She's determined to find out who he is. Too bad she keeps running into Shisui. And why is Sasuke being so obnoxious lately?

Family Comes in All Forms - no ships Modern AU: What it says on the tin. In a modern setting, how do the familial ties between the characters exist? Jiraiya adopts three orphans, Gaara spends more time with his mentor's family than his own father, and someone started the tradition of family photos. Sometimes Kushina wants to punch them, because their calendars are way too full.

Question 59: Have you participated in any fic events/writing challenges?  If yes, what were they and did you enjoy them?

I recently tried my own Promptober - that was enjoyable, some of my first postings for couples I hadn't written before and Fall/Autumn got a way bigger reaction than I expected. I didn't complete all 31 days, life went a little crazy on top of general busy-ness in October. Depending on what next October looks like I may start prepping for that in August (give myself time to figure out the prompts).

Generally I get nervous about participating in larger fic events and writing challenges because I'm not consistent with writing every day so there are days when I can output a couple thousand words and days where I just a few sentences. For example, working on Dreaming of You, I kinda wrote myself into a corner and I'm trying to work my way out so I'm writing from Zeref's POV for the first time since he will provide plot information. But it's so foreign to me that I'm getting a few sentences out at a time. But when I first started the fic, I spat out a couple thousand words very quickly since the general premise is based on my experiences with lucid dreaming.

More Than Distracting

AU drabble NejiTen ft. NaruHina One of Hinata's friends is sent to distract Neji while Hinata is with Naruto. It goes a lot better than hoped.

Most would spend their Friday nights relaxing at home or go out and have fun. Most would not spend it escorting/supervising their cousin at a party. But Neji Hyuga was not most people. As Hinata's cousin/surrogate older brother, he took his responsibility over her very seriously. Perhaps a little too seriously. Hinata was sixteen and a very sweet and well-behaved girl, but Neji still took it upon himself to watch over her when she was out and about. His cousin was pure-hearted, but she was too pure-hearted. What if she was accosted by someone shady? What if someone took advantage of her? What if she was in an accident? He would not risk it. So there he was, standing in the back of a party, observing in silence with a cup of punch in his hand. Not too far from Neji, Hinata was talking with a couple of her friends, Ino and Sakura. Hinata glanced at Neji over her shoulder. "I can't just leave. Neji will notice and follow. And who knows what he'll do to Naruto if he catches us." she said. "So we need to keep him from seeing you leave." Ino said. Hinata blinked in surprise at Ino's suggestion. "How?" "Easy. Distract him." Sakura answered. Hinata shook her head and sighed. "But nothing gets passed Neji. It wouldn't work." Ino smirked and tapped her chin. "It can, if we come up with the right distraction. And I think I have an idea..."

Neji, unaware of what the girls were plotting, leaned against the wall. He saw them talking, but thought nothing of it. They were probably discussing typical girl stuff, he assumed. Uninterested and bored, he decided to pass the time watching the crowd of party-goers make fools of themselves. When he turned his attention back to the girls, he noticed they had left. Where did they run off? he wondered. He frowned to himself and left his post to start looking for his cousin. He had only stopped looking for five minutes, so she couldn't have gone far. And what could she possibly be doing that required her sneaking off like that? She better not have gone wayward with that annoying Uzumaki. What she sees in him, I will never understand. Neji growled in annoyance at the thought of his cousin with the annoying and loud class clown. Neji's train of thought came to a screeching halt when a smaller figure appeared in his path, nearly bumping into his body. He looked down to reprimand them for their carelessness, but the stranger spoke first. "Hey!" a girlish voice piped up at him.

Neji closed his mouth and looked at the girl in front of him. She was head shorter than him so she was practically looking right up at him with a friendly smile. He took in the very distinguishable twin buns her chocolate brown hair was styled in and her russet, doe-like eyes. Cute. That was the first thing that popped into Neji's mind as he looked at the girl. But as soon as he realized what he was thinking, he shook it off. He tried to speak again, but once more she beat him to the punch. "You're Neji Hyuga, right?" she asked him. For whatever reason, Neji was unable to speak for a moment, but he quickly found his voice. "Yes. Can I help you?" he responded in a cold voice. "Nice to finally meet you! I'm Tenten." the girl announced. Neji stared at her. She laughed nervously. "Sorry! I'm a friend of Hinata's. We're in the same home ec class. I swear I'm not a creep." Neji rose an eyebrow. He knew for a fact he had never seen her before, but he did recall Hinata mentioning some girl from home economics. He couldn't remember her name off the top of his head, though he did remember finding it unusual. It sounded like a children's book character's name or the sound of a small instrument. Just like the one of this girl right here. "I see." he said. "I know it's a weird introduction, but Hinata asked me to check up on you. She thought it would be good if somebody kept you company. Her words, not mine." Tenten told him.

Neji wanted to scoff. It did sound like something Hinata would suggest, the kind girl she was. But she also should've known that he preferred not to be disturbed by anyone, let alone one of her girl friends. No matter how cute they were. Wait, what? Neji realized what he had just thought. No, no, he did not just think of her as cute. He never thought of anything as cute. Ever. Period. Neji stared at the shorter girl, who was still smiling at him. Then again, as much as he loathed using such a word, it was the most fitting one that came to mind in describing this girl. She was, indeed, very cute. He felt his face heat up and his palms went clammy. Suppressing whatever was coming over him, Neji cleared his throat. "Speaking of Hinata, did she also say where she has gone to? I can't find her." he asked. "Uh, no, she didn't. Sorry." Tenten said. The Hyuga male's frustration grew. "Great. Lord knows where she could be. I need to find her soon." he grumbled. Tenten's smile faded. "Oh...I see. Well, I'm sorry to have bothered you then. I'll leave you alone and let you find Hinata now. If I see her, I'll let her know you're worried about her." she spoke softly. The faint hint of embarrassment in her voice tugged at Neji's heart strings. He felt kind of bad for her. "No, there's no need. You were only trying to help and I've been rude. I apologize." he said.

Tenten's original warm smile returned to her lips. "It's alright. Hinata did say you might seem... a little intimidating, but you're actually a nice guy. I can see what she meant." she said. "Hn." Neji tried to look unfazed by the remark, but for some reason he felt ticklish inside. It was something Hinata would say, but there was something about hearing such a compliment from this one girl that made him feel...well, he couldn't really describe it, but it felt strange yet somewhat pleasant. "She also said you weren't much of a talker too." Tenten snickered. Neji remembered the drink in his hand and took a sip. "I admit, I'm not much of a social type." Tenten waved her hand. "I don't see anything wrong with that. It's kind of a nice change, honestly. Most of the people here can be pretty noisy. Like Lee." "Rock Lee?" "Yeah. You know him?" "Unfortunately, yes. We're in the same gym class." "My condolences." Tenten laughed. Neji felt that odd ticklish feeling again. He brushed it off and carried on conversing with his new companion. He wouldn't have said it out loud, but he was enjoying talking to Tenten. As they talked and got to know each other better, Neji's mission to find Hinata was pushed further and further back into the abyss of his mind until it was totally forgotten, and his focus was centered solely on the likeable and very cute girl.

Later...

Hinata felt giddy. A tad worried about how Neji was going to react, but very giddy. She had a very nice time with Naruto. She looked forward to seeing him again soon. But, for now, she needed to find Neji. "You don't think he's mad, do you?" she asked Ino. "Not if he didn't realize you sneaked away to rub noses with Naruto." Ino teased, making Hinata blush. Sakura laughed. "Hopefully Tenten was able to hold him off just fine." The three friends entered the room they had left Neji in, only to see that he wasn't there anymore. They hadn't seen him anywhere else when they came in, so they had to wonder where he was? Had he left? Had he given up and gone home or did he go to look for Hinata? They didn't have to wonder for long as they went to the next room in their search for Hinata's cousin. While they looked around the room, Hinata suddenly squeaked and covered her mouth in surprise. Ino and Sakura turned their attentions to where her gaze was directed and they too were shocked. Across the room, in the corner behind a large potted plant, was their good friend Tenten and Hinata's uptight cousin Neji kissing. Like, full on making out. All three girls stared in utter shock at the sight. "Hey, uh, Ino Pig? Did you think this would happen by any chance?" Sakura asked her friend, her eyes never leaving the couple not too far from them. "No, Forehead. Only in my wildest dreams could I see this ever being possible." Ino replied. A/N: I know, I know, it’s been a while since I updated and I’m so so sorry! And this is just short but I swear in a couple of chapters there’s gonna be progress with Neji & Y/N’s relationship if the characters don’t do something stupid like stray away from my plot.

Your mother taught you most of the skills you currently possess. However, she didn’t necessarily teach you everything there was to know. She had left some things for you to learn on your own. She trusted you enough to fill yourself in with the blanks she left you, and you took it by heart. This was one of the reasons why you have advanced further compared to shinobis your age despite your lack of actual experience through missions.

By training with your mother, you focused on your strength and speed. However, it was with Kurenai sensei’s training that you learned the importance of timing.

According to her the perfect timing involves a combination of coordination, reaction time, and decision making. You have no problem with decision making considering you’ve been trained by your mother to hone that skill through her simulations. Coordination was not a problem for you as well. It was, after all, something every shinobi inherently possessed.

However, Kurenai sensei had already told you about how your reaction time needed improving from her initial assessment of your skills. With the help of repetitive drills and varying obstacle courses, she was able to improve your reaction time rather quickly.

Timing was also a very important aspect in casting a genjutsu. She told you that it was necessary to catch the victim off guard when casting a genjutsu so that they won’t be able to get out of it immediately.

“You have to find the perfect time to cast it, especially for elemental and ocular genjutsu, because you don’t want your target to know that they’re under a genjutsu,” she said once while you were training with Team Kurenai. “In the case of the Uchihas, if they somehow manage to get you to look into their Sharingan eyes, they would be able to cast a genjutsu on you. Sometimes they purposely do things to make you focus into their eyes. While some movements might seem like they’re just a natural habit because of their timing, it catches the target off guard and allows them to put you under a genjutsu.

“Kana sensei, on the other hand, uses a type of Water Release genjutsu called ‘Demonic Phantom Fog Prison’ wherein she creates a mist that puts the opponents under a genjutsu. The fog is infused with chakra so she’s able to control the chakra flow of the cerebral nervous system of her targets. Most often, the opponents would assume she used the Hiding in the Mist Technique, but by the time she would appear in front of them to attack, they would realize too late that they were in a genjutsu when they cannot move anymore.”

With Kurenai sensei’s expertise in that field, she gave you tips on how to effectively cast a genjutsu. Sometimes, before training would start, she’d silently pull you to the side and tell you to practice your genjutsu on Team Kurenai during your sparring sessions with them. This gave you the opportunity to practice your skills in casting genjutsu, and an opportunity for Team Kurenai to practice determining if they were under a genjutsu and how to break out of it.

You only got to train with them for two weeks though, because they had been called on a mission that would last for around a month. You were disappointed because you really were learning a lot from their team.

Although you initially thought you had nothing to contribute to their growth as individuals and as a team, your presence somehow helped them improve themselves as well.

Hinata would often train with you with the drills and obstacle courses to improve her reaction time as well. Kiba would always challenge you in a race to help him with his speed. Shino would engage in hand to hand combat with you to improve his taijutsu. Although both Shino and Kiba had yet to win against you, and Hinata was still behind your skills, you did note that every single day you trained with them, they got better and better.

Kurenai sensei was nice enough to treat you to dinner with the whole team the day before they had to leave for the long mission. When you all entered Yakiniku-Q, a cheery voice called out your group.

Ino was waving her hands happily, beckoning your group over to their table. She was with Shikamaru, Choji, and another male who you assumed was their team captain.

“Kurenai sensei! Please join us. It’s Asuma sensei’s treat!” Ino said.

Asuma sensei, who you assumed was their team captain, choked on his food at Ino’s sudden declaration.

Kurenai sensei only chuckled and curtly nodded. Then Ino whispered something to Shikamaru who was seated beside her. The male rolled his eyes, muttering “What a drag” under his breath while standing up to change his seat.

“Sensei, you can sit here,” Ino pointed to the place beside their team captain. Then she beckoned you and Hinata to sit beside her.

Kurenai whispered something to Asuma who’s rubbing the back of his neck all the while sporting a blush on his cheeks. You don’t need to be a genius to know that there’s something going on between the two of them. Ino watched them with a smile as she placed her chin on her palm.

Kurenai then spoke up to introduce you formally to the group, “This is Y/N. She’s new here but she’s been training with our team for a while now.”

“We already met her, sensei,” Choji said.

“I’m Asuma, jonin instructor of Team 10,” Asuma sensei introduced himself. “It’s nice to meet you.”

You smiled and bowed your head in greeting.

“She’s the daughter of Kana sensei,” Kurenai sensei told him.

“Ah, I do see the resemblance. So, what brings you guys here? Aside from dinner, that is.”

“It’s our last day of training with her before our long mission,” Kiba said while chewing his food.

“So what do you plan on doing while they’re away? Train alone?” Asuma directed the question to you.

You only nodded in response.

“Why don’t you join us in training then? I’m sure these three won’t mind,” Asuma sensei proposed as he pointed to the three of his members.

Your eyes widened. “That would be nice, if it wouldn’t be a bother.”

Ino immediately said, “Let’s do that! Then you’ll see how superior our group is,” she grinned.

Funnily enough, you expected Kiba to be the first one to react, and he did not disappoint. It just was too easy to rile him up. That was the start of the bickering between Kiba and Ino. Shikamaru sighed at that, thinking that Ino was already a handful by herself and now that Kiba was there too, it was more unbearable, for him at least. You were pretty much amused by them. It seemed like even the team captains were amused too considering they weren’t doing anything to stop the two. That was how the whole night went on.

And that was the reason behind your current predicament — with sweat forming on your forehead, and your body immobilized. Based on the book about clans that you’ve read, you were certain this was the secret jutsu of the Nara clan.

“That’s Ino-Shika-Cho for you!” Ino teased.

You had to hand it to them; their teamwork and strategy were astounding. You can tell just from their movements that they were particularly efficient when working together, much like a well-oiled machine. They need not verbally communicate with each other to know what they were supposed to do which was extremely impressive for you. This led you to wonder if this was because of how long they worked together as a team, or something else entirely.

You had a feeling their strategy doesn’t end with you being immobilized by Shikamaru’s jutsu. If anything, you believed they still had a card under their sleeve. And you’re assuming it has something to do with Ino and their clan’s jutsu.

You weren’t sure if you should wait for their next move or if you should start your counter-attack. On one side, waiting for their next move would help you learn more about their techniques, especially Ino’s. This would help you come up on a strategy for the next sparring session with the team. But on the other hand, their final move could be their winning move and at this point, you didn’t want to lose without showing off your skills.

Because it took you too long to decide, and Ino had started the preparations for her jutsu so you had no other choice but to watch and wait. She had her hands raised up, fingers forming a circle. And the next thing you know, you’re not in the training grounds anymore.

You squinted your eyes and focused on trying to determine if this was a genjutsu. But then Ino spoke up, “This is your consciousness, pretty cool isn't it?”

You hummed.

“Sorry, Y/N, but I’m going to take over your body now,” she smirked.

The thing about Ino was she was really lax and maybe too confident.

You smiled back at her. “Really?” You asked.

Your response took her by surprise. You used this opportunity to quickly appear in front of her. Before she could even deflect, you kicked her on the jaw.

And then the jutsu was broken.

When you came to be, you were no longer held on by Shikamaru’s shadow. But he was staring at you intently, probably wondering if you were still under Ino’s jutsu or not. And when Ino started stirring beside him, his eyes widened, realizing you broke free from the Mind-Body Switch Technique.

“Choji!” Shikamaru shouted, but it was too late.

However, if Gaara thought that because he was the Kazekage he was allowed to play around with Lee's heart then he had another thing coming. It was very, very disrespectful of him, whether or not Lee had never looked happier than when they were holding hands.

(She didn't care if he was the second coming of Hashirama himself. If anyone wanted to seriously date her friend, then they needed ask- it was only polite.)

My thoughts: Tenten was hilarious and amazing in this. And I just love the idea that in order to be in a serious relationship in Konoha you have to beat up your s/o's teammate. It sounds like something crazy that Konoha would come up wt. Super sweet 10/10

Sakura FF Pairing Thoughts

Why hello there. This is going to be about Sakura Haruno, soooo if that's not what ya want, please keep scrolling 💕

OKAY! This has been rolling around my head for a few days so here you go y'all

I find Sakura very shippable. Like, I have about 5 main ships I read/write, but I love her with a number of others. Namely:

Sasuke, Kakashi, ITACHI, Neji, Shisui, Ino, and Hinata

These are my romantic pairings, mind you. And these are what I can remember rn

My friendship pairings, where I have MAJOR hard-ons for her and their friendships (when done right obvi) are:

Sasuke, NARUTO, Tsunade, TenTen, Hinata, Ino, Shizune, Shisui, Kakashi, and Itachi

As I'm sure you can see - a number of them overlap. BUT THIS PARTICULAR POST IS ABOUT ITACHI FUCKING UCHIHA ~

This man is *chef kiss*. I'm a sucker for Non-Mass fics & when Shisui is alive. I'm a ✨whore✨ for their friendship and dynamic.

But the point of this post is to explain my thoughts on Itachi x Sakura. I think they can work romantically - non-mass & mass - and think their dynamic works.

I think her learning the truth about the massacre and showing him the love and acceptance he deserves is beautiful. He's not used to kindness and he deserves to have someone as loving as Sakura. I also think if the Uchiha's were alive, Mikoto would be playing match maker to make sure Sakura ends up an Uchiha in one way or another (( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hehehe)

~BUT I ALSO THINK~

That he would be the best supporting brother figure. Whether she would end up with Sasuke or someone else, I feel like he'd be a great brother to her. He'd train with her, make sure she doesn't kill herself training when his brother and Naruto go off on their own training, bring her little gifts when she's down & he can't come up with words, and is oddly protective of her.

Like that is CATNIP for me - along with Sakura and Shisui helping Itachi realize he likes Izumi and supporting his clumsy attempts at woo-ing her. It's so sweet. My poor child deserves to be happy and pain free, even if it's only in fanfic.

Hi there! 

I think I read... maybe one fic about them? And wasn’t that much into the pairing, perhaps I didn’t read the right fic -most of the pairings I enjoy in Naruto are a product of a great fanfiction that got me hooked to them (forgive me, god, because I like ItaIno and I don’t have an actual reason other than I’m human and I like pretty things and Itachi while a bastard is freaking gorgeous and Ino... well, need I say it?). I’m not usually a multi-shipper, I do enjoy some ShikaIno works as well, but usually, I like Ino with Itachi and that’s it (which means I can enjoy a total of 5 fics and most of them write Itachi quite OOC -dammit-, lmao).

About Neji and Sasuke, I really, really like to think of them as close comrades. I usually think of Sasuke as an asexual/demisexual character, and while I don’t often think of Neji, when I do, is usually on the same terms. So I can see a friendship built in between them given their similar backgrounds. It would be a really silent relationship tho, which is hilarious.
