Hello! I'd like to tell you about a book I wrote. It'll be coming out on Friday the 26th of May 2023.
I'm extremely proud of this one. I'm proud of them all, of course, but I think in this one I let myself get angry for, well, pretty much the whole book to be honest. Previous books in the series have bursts of queer rage, but this one definitely sustained it.
At its heart, it's a book that demands to know just how long we're supposed to do nothing while fascists kill us.
Now, fair warning, it is book 9 in an ongoing series. It won't make a whole lot of sense if you haven't read the previous eight books. I'll get to that at the end of the post, but for now I want to stick with Runes of Fall.
Tumblr media
No storm bows to reason.
Quentin's trip to the desert with his chosen family is supposed to be two days of testing the limits of their powers. Instead, a violent storm looms on the horizon, and nothing will alter its course.
The storm has a name: Nate Anderson. Demigod, supremacist, leader of a neo-Nazi Übermensch cabal... and father to Quentin's latest ward, Mel. He means to take her home, and won't let a ragtag group of "inferior" psychics get in his way.
Besieged and outgunned, Quentin is trapped in a no-win scenario. No matter which way he turns, one fateful night will change him forever.
Tumblr media
Inheritance is a series best read in order, so if this is the first you've heard of it I strongly recommend that you start with Jack of Thorns, but keep going and I'll let you know how you can grab that for free. First, let me tell you more about it.
In Jack of Thorns, we meet Laurence and Quentin, two men with astonishing powers but little to no control over them. They are both adrift, traumatised, and doing what they can to get by one day at a time. Laurence is struggling to escape a toxic, abusive boyfriend who refuses to accept that their relationship is over, and Quentin spends as much of his time drunk as he possibly can.
Do they start out likeable? Opinion varies. But they learn, they grow, and they put in the work to improve themselves. They do their best, and sometimes they make mistakes, but the Laurence and Quentin in Runes of Fall are a world away from the Laurence and Quentin you first meet.
Heads up, there are some content warnings to take note of. In random order, they are: sexual intimacy, addiction, drug use, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, incest, gaslighting, bullying, coercive control, kidnapping, domestic abuse, bigotry, classism, torture, post-traumatic stress, therapy, violence, peril, and death.
If you're still here, thank you for reading this far. I'd like to give you some links if you're interested in finding out more!

hi GT! thanks again for the great chapter—loved it (as usual).
just wanted to come on here to sing you praises with just how well you write touch/physical affection especially in the most recent chapter’s first half: draco & hermione being v touchy while entering hogsmeade vs. draco’s jealousy with ron + hermione, and how you depicted draco’s reaction to both (i.e., his awareness on just how not-platonic his actions were vs failing to see that ron and hermione might not be also sharing the same thing) and the way his jealousy flares up. it’s starkly real and engaging and you just leave us wanting more.
just wondering: would there be more platon-ish (or more) moments in the realm of Lionheart, since the books were PG?
hope u have a good day!!
Thank you very much! I hope you have a good day, too.
I think of Lionheart right now as a story that rides the line between PG-13 and R (for gore, and I guess also technically for swearing, since there's been more than one "fuck.") Those things will only scale up as the story goes on, to an extent that will soon surpass the books. If the original series can be split up into "children's / young adult" around the lynchpin of Book 4, I think of the volumes of Lionheart as "children's / young adult / new adult." New adult is, naturally, more capacious as a genre than young adult is, and I'm cautiously feeling out my comfort level in the new territory it opens up.
To be completely honest, I'm still making up my mind on how far to push past canon there. I know that explicit scenes are common and welcomed in the D/H fanfic space, to an extent even expected, but the jury is out on how much it will be relevant/necessary/something that I'll enjoy writing. (I'm aware that this is a totally confusing and not helpful answer. Friend, I also wish it was not like this.) Basically, I'm just trying to figure out what the story needs.
I guess the most I can say currently is that I'd definitely be comfortable writing it — I've written it before — and for the rest, I'll play it by ear.

New Temeraire Covers
Tumblr media
These beauties are by cover artist Rovina Cai, and they are for the new trade paperback editions of Namoi Novik's Temeraire series.
When books get rereleased with new covers, the aesthetics can be a bit hit or miss, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't take me a hot minute to get used to the new Temeraire covers. I loved the bold, swirly, fantasy vibe of the original covers, and the new covers feel like they lean way more into a "history with dragons" vibe. That new vibe is arguably more accurate to the books, and they actually share aesthetic vibes with the Lady Trent memoir covers. All that to say that these new covers have really grown on me, and I am fighting with myself over getting the new releases because *PRETTY*.

More character portraits from the Truth Saga! This time it's the twins, Ivy (pictured right) and Violet (pictured left)! These two are an inseperable AuDHD pair of mischief makers who have a small but impactful role in everyone's life and I hope to give them their own story soon enough <3
Violet and Ivy
When someone describes two people "joined at the hip", they're talking about the twins. Vi and Vee are never far apart; a symbiosis beyond just their status as blood sisters.
Ivy is the ringleader; a noisy, distractable goofball, but don't mistake Violet's relative silence for docility. These two are truly double trouble and the much needed 'class clowns' of their supersoldier squad.
About The Truth Saga
Children go missing all the time. That’s what they’re told. They run away, they’re kidnapped, they die. Scattered throughout Scotland, a handful of families remember the truth of what happened to their families. The violent, paranormal attacks that destroyed their lives and took their children from them.
Twenty years after the first incidents, the disappearences are happening again. The missing children are adults now, and reconnecting with the people they lost, but everything has changed. There is something sinister casting its shadow over their heads, and now they must fight to return the light to their lives. To learn to love and laugh and carry on living – while the truth of their history threatens to destroy them.
Combining science fantasy with interpersonal drama, The Truth Saga is an ongoing series following themes of love, family and grief wrapped in a bundle of supernatural mystery and violence. Step into the Controller’s world and you may never turn back…

I mentioned that I wrote a fantasy novel, right? WELL, HERE IT IS:
Tumblr media
Jasmine Walters leads a simple life; she goes to work, comes home, and finds another sewing project to dive into on the weekends. But after a fateful encounter with a stranger, she learns that she's destined for something greater than retail.
Jasmine is the Prime--a human blessed by a magical Flame to act as arbitrator between the Hellenians and Draconians, two ancient races engaged in a diplomatic dispute that awards the victor access to the human realm. Leon Exousia, the newly crowned Hellenian High Lord, seeks her out in order to maintain the rights of the Flame for his people. But when Jasmine later meets the Draconians, what she uncovers will have her questioning everything she thought she knew about her role, and her weighty decision grows even more daunting than before.
Is she only a tool, led by the strings of fate? Or will she be able to forge her own path?
My debut New Adult Fantasy novel releases February 14th, 2023! If you like stories that feature Black female lead characters, high-stakes magical journeys… and most importantly, hot demons and dragons you can bone, then this novel may be for you!
Order at Barnes & Noble or pretty much any major retailer/independent bookstore in your area!

Seeking betareaders for New Adult fantasy, in exchange for printed copy
Hi! I've finished drafting and revising a 54,000 word New Adult fantasy novel, May Day. If the idea of a quick read with Arthurian and Welsh mythology, fairies that frighten rather than f*ck, and overcoming trauma interests you, this might be up your alley, and I'd love to have you as a potential beta reader!
[WARNING: part of the book is, unfortunately, set in Ohio.]
I'm primarily looking for first impressions, overall feedback, and anything more detailed that readers are willing to give me. Because I'm working toward the traditional agent representation / publishing route, this would be strictly pre-release and wouldn't require the posting of a review.
Two sequels to complete a trilogy are also finished and in need of fresh eyes, and the same offer extends to those.
If this interests you, I'll happily print and ship a paperback OR hard cover/dust jacket copy to you in exchange for honest feedback.

Is it the most eloquent? No.
Is it the most memorable? Probably.
Is it the most authentic? Absolutely!
It's actually super fitting that on 11/11 we get a page with such a daring and bold declaration, but more as to that later on in the story. Luckily, the King of Shadows seems to be very kind and patient, especially when getting such a heartfelt confession. Truth be told, he's probably had more salacious things said his way, so this is mild compared to anything else he may or may not have heard.
But...this leads us to what kind of mischief will happen now that such a statement has been made? Well, only time will tell, friends.
OR
Keep reading at the above link! ALL of Chapter 4 is up and posted, so, subscribe today to unlock the rest of Chapter 3, and keep reading what happens next through all of chapter 4!!
Until next time, happy reading, friends!

✩🐸💜Review:
Maehrer’s debut novel is charming, witty, and utterly romantic!
“Assistant to the Villain” follows Evie Sage as she looks for employment to support her ailing family. When a chance meeting with Rennedawn’s notorious villain results in a job offer, she takes it without a second thought. She never expected to fall in love with her boss, especially considering that he is evil personified, but when his carefully laid plans are sabotaged and his life is put in danger, she has little choice other than to come to terms with her feelings as she uncovers the culprit.
What I love most about this book is that it’s just so fun! The atmosphere that Maehrer creates with her storytelling is similar that of some of my favorite comfort films/shows like Ella Enchanted, Tangled, and Once Upon a Time. Despite the novel’s high stakes, I found myself actually laughing out loud when I got to many of the comedic moments and became so attached to the characters that I really had a hard time letting go of them at the end.
I really appreciated being able to read from both Evie and the Villain’s points-of-view. I was instantly intrigued by the Villain as a character because Maehrer skillfully kept his origins a secret, sprinkling hints here and there, until the big reveal near the end. His guarded and grumpy nature beautifully compliment Evie’s sunshine personality. I love a good “opposites attract” romance and Maehrer delivers on that front, going the extra mile to painstakingly capture their mutual pining for each other and the feelings left undeclared as they attempt to ignore their attraction within the workplace. When they finally do act on their feelings, nothing is more satisfying.
That satisfaction, however, dissipated when I go to the final cliffhanger. To say it was punch to the gut is an understatement. I am desperate for book two because I cannot get enough of these characters and I want them to get the happily ever afters that they deserve!

With refreshing echoes of golden age fantasy, Fog & Fireflies is a novel that brings together an imaginative world and fantastical cast of characters to explore the difference between growing older and growing up.
"Why do we grow more scared as we get older?"
Hundreds of seasons ago, a wizard's war scarred the earth, leaving a malevolent fog blanketing the land, and carrying the settlements within it like ships adrift at sea. The phantoms the fog creates are deadly to adults, so children must guard the walls now, and care for each other.
Ogma watches the fog from the walls of her windmill town. What felt like a game as a child becomes more of a creeping dread with each season she gets older.
"Because we know better."
Ogma's town is attacked—alien caravanners who roam the fog in inhuman forms have come to kidnap the children, and Ogma is lost in the fog. She must find hope, find courage in herself, and find her friends.
A novel for readers who enjoy rich worldbuilding in the style of Hayao Miyazaki, a unique cast of creatures and characters that harkens back to L. Frank Baum and Arthur Rackham, and the bonds of found family akin to the work of Maggie Stiefvater and Makoto Shinkai.

Finally confident enough in my artistic ability to draw proper character portraits for the Truth Saga, to replace the old artbreeder portraits I made before AI became A Problem
First up:
The Moores
Lydia and Elyan Moore, to be precise. These two play a prominent role in the Truth Saga and especially Reckless Truth as the audience surrogates, introducing us to the twisted world of the Controller through the eyes of those who were left behind.
This sibling duo are the catalyst for the entire series and will play an important role in the lives of the other characters throughout, so it only makes sense to draw them first <3
About Reckless Truth
When they were children, their brother was stolen and their mother killed. Elyan and Lydia Moore have dedicated their lives to finding out what really happened that night, and where their brother was taken – but the truth will throw them into chaos they could never predict.
Genre | Contemporary Science-Fantasy, LGBTQ+
POV | Third Person Limited
Target Audience | New Adult
Themes | Grief, trauma, found family, self-discovery, death, love, identity, anger and kindness
Warnings | Violence, abuse, brainwashing, sexual themes
RECKLESS TRUTH IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR FREE (until January 1st 2024) ON SMASHWORDS
ALTERNATIVELY, BUY IT FROM YOUR FAVOURITE BOOKSTORES
