New idea that's been haunting me all week:

Dating sim where you date the Olympians + Hades and Persephone BUT they're all hot women

I have no real lore or setting worked out and it's vaguely in a modern AU setting but mostly I just... women hot? I like Greek mythology? Wanna Draw???

Hey so I just came up with this new au in my head.

So basically what happens is that for whatever reason the other Olympians who have demigod children, that being Ares, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Hermes all somehow managed to piss off Zeus so much that he decides to send them to live and camp with their children. Just like Dionysus.

(or he was already mad at them for something and Hera put the idea in his head. Since she likes none of them.)

So one early morning Chiron calls all the camp counselors into the big house to inform them of this. Needless to say none of them are happy.

Especially not Luke who is the de facto parent of these kids.

At first all the gods kindness stay in the big house complaining about their situation to Dionysus. But they soon tired of that, so they actually turned their attention to their children.... For entertainment.

Ares keeps starting fights between the campers. Apollo forces of them to listen to his poems & concerts, even though it's already midnight. Hephaestus criticizes and disproves of any of the metal work being done especially if it's done by his own children. Aphrodite keeps causing drama with crushes that the campers have, especially of her own children for her own entertainment. Athena criticizes every little thing that they do, ect, ect.

This makes Luke livid especially when he sees poor annabeth crying because of how many times Athena has criticized her or disproved her on the smallest things.

He also hates Hermes as he spends his time either ignoring his kids existence or telling them to steal something from one of the other gods in order to get his favor, which given the other gods tempers, it doesn't end well. Hermes also only talks to Luke occasionally trying to pretend like he isn't a horrible father. He even tries to bring up May but Luke shuts him down almost immediately.

The misery doesn't last long thankfully as for whatever reason Zeus decided his family hadn't been punished enough, and turns them into children. Children who are younger than their camp counselors of their cabin.... You can see where I'm going with this.

Some like Charlie or Katie simply ignore Hephaestus and Demeter's existence for the most part.

Clarisse is actually too scared to do anything to her father at first, for fear of the consequences later.

But Luke, Lee, Owen (the camp counselor before annabeth I made up in my head after reading some other fanfiction), & Seilena, immediately start bullying their parents as much as possible, in a passive aggressive way.

OK SO FIRST OF ALL, I LOVE THIS.

AND IT ALSO GAVE ME THOUGHTS OF A SEPARATE AU. But first off, holy heck so many more demigods would join Luke in this AU like???? Imagine all the kids meeting their parents and realizing what sort of assholes they are. Luke's "fall" to Kronos gets sped up SO MUCH????? At the end of TLT half the camp just dips all together at once, INCLUDING Annabeth who dragged Percy along. Ngl Hermes will have the worst time, especially with how crowded cabin eleven is. Luke needing to steal supplies for Percy in TLT means the campers don't get them as handouts. So Hermes better be good at locating them yourself! Aww did Aphrodite lose something? Sorry, no one saw it. Sorry you can't borrow it either- I just it too! Camp just slowly realizing how shitty their parents are- honestly wouldn't be surprised if, depending on how long they'll stay like that, end up tragically dead during Capture the Flag. Who needs dessert anyway, right Luke?

BUT ALSO IMAGINE THIS AU BUT THE GODS HAVING AMNESIA.

Like- Zeus decides leaving them with their memories would only cause issues since they'd obviously want to get back to godhood. And to him that would just be a lot of trouble, so instead he just erases their memories completely and throws them into camp. Let them rot there for a while, enjoy mortal life a bit.

Since they have no idea who they are, or what even their names are when they get to Camp they are obviously brought to the big house. Dionysus knows that those are the gods turned mortal, unfortunately though he's not allowed to reveal anything by order of Zeus. Not that he really would have, this is just too good.

With no knowledge of who these kids are, Chiron sees himself forced to improvise and calls up Luke and Owen to take them to cabin eleven until they are claimed. Luke is also the one who gives them names until they figure out their identities. Despite the arrival of 7 (apparent) demigods with 0 memory ofcourse caused a ruckus. But since no one knows that they are gods stuff settles down a bit after a while, they assume it was some freak accident or a monster attack. Meanwhile Luke and Owen are having their hands full taking care of these 7 kids. At this point Luke's already the unofficial official successor for counselor after Owen so he's reasonably involved.

Sleeping arrangements, getting them supplies, activities- it all needs to be organized for them and they need to be shown the robes. Since no one knows that they are actual gods they get treated like any other normal camper. And since there are no gods to claim them (SINCE THEY ARE THOSE GODS) they stay in eleven for practically their entire stay in CHB. Imagine them bonding with the other unclaimed kids over being "unimportant" to their parents. Imagine Luke comforting them about how shitty "the gods" are. Athena getting to bond with Annabeth over battle strategy. Ares getting to be beaten up by Clarisse during Capture the Flag. Demeter getting to plant with Katie. Apollo getting to go to archery classes with Chiron. And so on and so forth.

And they end up fully integrated into camp at some point! They live and think like any other demigod and everyone treats them like that. Luke looks after them, they have friends from other cabins and they sing along at the campfire.

They play games and train and angst over their "neglectful godly parent" and "amnesia". Everything seems to be going well, they are happy. The people around them are happy. The gods are happy. And then Zeus decides the punishment is enough, gives the gods their powers back and just fucks everything up. Because that does not go well. Zeus being Zeus didn't really check of course what they were doing before deciding to end the punishment or deigned to think about hos stressful it most be to not only suddenly become a got, but also get millennia of memories back in an instant. The gods were at the sing-along having a good time. Apollo was jamming out with the Apollo cabin leading the song. Hermes was reading to drop a water balloon as a prank on Aphrodite together with the Stolls. Heaphestus was happily basking in the warmth.

The fact that no true form of the gods was shown was dumb luck. One minute everything is fine, the next they are on the ground screaming as their divinity and memories are pressed into bodies too small to fit them- being stretched and forced to become what they once were. Everyone is scarred, kids are crying, and the Stolls ran to hide behind Luke when Hermes goes down alongside Annabeth clutching his leg. Zeus wanted them with him, so they were pretty much immediately ported to Olympus as soon as they were gods again. And FUCK is shit different now, 'cause now they are attached. Yes, they remember who they are now, but the memories of camp weren't erased! They spent years there. Years of living and laughing with their children. Years of being one of them.

And stuff is just so weird now like?????? All the anger with Zeus aside- they just, can't really view them as their "kids" now???? They feel more like- equals to them now. As weird as it is. Playmates, friends. Hell they just spent years with LUKE as their main caretaker! He was a better "Dad" than Zeus ever was! They still feel like they gotta listen to him 'cause he's counselor! Someone get Hermes some therapy for that mental dissonance of seeing his son as a parental figure.

Also, someone get them help for all the guilt. Because holy SHIT do they regret everything now. All the neglect, all the hurt, all the abuse. Because the gods get it now. They understand what it is like to be a child of them and live in the system they created. They understand what being a demigod means. They're sorry.

They want to be better.

And it isn't easy- god it couldn't be easy, but they somehow, someway get Zeus to allow them to visit camp freely. To support their kids.

And the gods swear to do better on the Styx, are excited to finally be real parents even.

Only to find camp terrified of them when they appear. The same kids treating them like friends and siblings cower, hide behind older kids and avoid their gaze when looking at them. Because they are gods. And they are cruel. Their children know that better than anyone.

“To untie apprehensions that were placed on that Greek?” okay i had to google “apprehentions, and apperently it both means “arrest” and “concern/fear”...........to untie the arrest on Ody, and at the same time the concerns of Odysseus THATS GENIUS, Ive heard Homer does a lot of these double meanings of words in his Epics and IM SO HERE FOR IT, also “that Greek”, come on, dont use it as a slur >:)

[also the whole debate about “did odysseus cheat or not” no. idc what anyone says. if anyone argues he INITALLY consented to Calypso: fine, its blurry in the narrative, anyone can choose how to interpret that as they wish, but Circe was bestowed upon him by Hermes (in the myth at least, in Epic there ofc very clearly refuses her, and she accepts him (hear that calypso? HEAR THAT CALYPSO)) and Calypso, at the very least later on turned VERY unconsensual. FOR SEVEN YEARS., but the “he liked her no more” could also mean she didnt like her as a person anymore after she saved him. its not 100% clear how the relationship started out, we just know how it ends rly, but given the historic context too, it might very well be that it wouldntve been considered as cheating, even if it was consensual, would hera consider it cheating bc she does so with Zeus? maybe, idk, i think the idea of Ody being (one of) the only greek hero(es) that doesnt cheat is one i like, he gets praised enough by homer for all his skills he might as well have the skill of being true to his wife, in EPIC we know that Ody refuses her from the beginning so whatever did or did not remain unnamed in Epic, would NOT be cheating,.........and anyone who mentions Odys proof for cheating being the telegony or any other later versions where suddenly children show up, and he offs penelope for cheating and telemachus marries circe, can kindly, do some more reading into the history of the text and how later authors added their own twists, we dont know if the odyssey from homer was the most well known version, i think, but its the one we consider canon now, and i rly refuse to believe that Ody coming home only to get a new wife]

“Let him go, please, Let him go”, she reaches out to Zeus, as her light dims and she begs him to let Ody go, nothing left of the selfish and prideful goddess, she was selfless- sacrifcing herself and ler go of her pride to beg to Zeus to let him go, who stops as he grabs to throw another lighting, in shocked realization of what he has done.

The song fades out. And we are left to wonder if Athena is ded or not

now initially i rly thought Jorge killed a goddess

by now im more hopeful that she isnt dead (im hoping for that, mostly for the fun of sticking to the source material of Athenas help in the last chapter(s) of the story)

but

im still doubting a bit. the chance is there that she is, infact, dead, but i dont know how that would impact the narrative-,...i suppose we’ll see, either in the vengence saga, or at the lastest in the ithica saga x)

Hermes really wants to be a daddy—biological or adoption, he don’t care

One day you offed to watch your friend’s kid so they and their partner could have a night for the two of them

Being friends them as well, Hermes came over to help you

Your friends left midday so about an hour after they were gone you packed up the babe and the three of you went to the store to get a few things for dinner

Placing the toddler in the cart you began pushing them around and Hermes watched as the two of you interacted.

He couldn’t help the smile pulling at his lips when you’d deviate from your path to look at something the little girl was pointing at

Watching you cave and getting her an ice cream for after dinner warmed his heart

Then to top it off he couldn’t help feeling an odd sense of happiness when an elderly women at the check out commented on your little group

“I just have to say, you are the cutest little family.” Hermes just smiled wide, his arm slung around your shoulders as he thanked the women. In the moment you just laughed it off and smiled back

It wasn’t till the two of you were making dinner, your friend’s kid watching a movie in the livingroom, when you bring up what happened

“You thanked that woman when she mistaked us for a family,” you started, stirring the pot on the stove.

Coming up from behind you, Hermes wraps his arms around your midsection and kisses your shoulder

“Is the idea of us having a family that terrible,” he jokes, his warm laugher vibrating against your back

“No,” you quickly say. Putting the lid on the pot you turn in his arms, “It’s just that I hadn’t thought about it much.”

“Really?” he says, eyebrows raised amused.

“Do you think about it alot?”

“All the time,” his admission steals the breath from your lungs and your belly flutter in the best way

“Really?” your response mirroring one of his own, except this one is filled with more awe and love than humor

“Really,” he confirms, knocking his forehead against yours, “I’ve known since the moment I met you’re my one and with each day, including this one, I’m reminded how great of a parent I think you’d be,” can this man make a person melt anymore?!?

“I think you’d be great too,” you confess, wrapping your arms around his shoulders pulling him down for a kiss and just as your lips touch you hear a little voice behind you

“Groooosss,” you and Hermes share a little laugh, figuring if this is the future you want you might as well get used to it now

how did the other siblings of apollo react to apollo going no contact (second song au)?

Ok txny I have to thank you because this question made me go big-brained mode last night and now I got paragraphs for you. I hope you like them lol

Ok, first of all, let me actually let y’all know what the incident that made Apollo leave was. So basically, for years Apollo had been held to an unrealistic standard that he could never achieve. Any failures led to harsh punishments, which worsened Apollo’s quality of life, which worsened his performance in all of the stuff Zeus cared about, and the cycle continues. This all came to a head when it came time to apply for college. Zeus wanted Apollo to follow in his footsteps and study law at his alma mater. Apollo really wanted to make music, but he knew that would never go over well. Instead, he applied to a med school, hoping that the job would be prestigious enough that it would impress his father, even if it wasn’t law. 

Sadly Apollo was mistaken, and Zeus became furious. He began constantly berating Apollo, basically telling him that he was basically going to disown him once he turned 18. Eventually Apollo snapped, and the two of them got into a huge fight one night in front of the whole family. Keep in mind that none of the other siblings knew the true extent of how Zeus treated Apollo. Things got physical, with Zeus pushing Apollo down a flight of stairs, giving him a nasty cut, a serious concussion, and getting him hospitalized. This is the last time anyone in the family saw Apollo. Once he woke up, Apollo refused any visitors, and basically went from home straight to college, refusing to talk with any of his family again. 

As for how everyone felt about it?

Ares: 29 years old, currently an active military member stationed in Texas (for reference, the rest of the family is in California). Ares had already left the state when Apollo went no-contact, and the two of them weren’t particularly close. Ares basically didn���t really care, as he’s already pretty distant from the rest of the family as it is. He visits during holidays and makes nice with his younger siblings, but to Ares it’s all just doing what’s expected of him. If Apollo wanted to leave that behind, more power to him.

Hephaestus: 26 years old, currently works as a mechanic in northern California. Hephaestus is the only other family member that has little to no contact with the rest of the family. It’s just that unlike Apollo, there was no fanfare when Hephaestus left. Living with a physical disability in a house where your mother despises you and the man who was meant to be your father was horrifically neglectful kind of sucks, actually. Hephaestus left the family behind at 18, and has been doing pretty well for himself since. Because of this, he actually doesn’t know that Apollo followed in his footsteps two years later. Who knows, maybe the two of them will run into each other in the future. 

Athena: 30 years old, currently working as a historian in her hometown. Athena is actually older than Ares, as Zeus was with Metis before Hera, and just didn’t tell Hera about it. She lived with her mother for 4 years until her untimely death. After that, she had to move in with Zeus and Hera, which was the first time Hera ever heard of her existence. This is also when Hera was pregnant with Hephaestus. Whoops. After all this, Athena has become a bit of a father’s girl, mainly because Zeus would defend her against her stepmother’s hatred. She doesn’t know all of the details of Apollo’s relationship with Zeus, but her love of her father blinds her to any fault he may have had. The two of them don’t talk anymore for a reason. 

Hermes: 22 years old, currently going through undergrad for a degree in communications. Hermes was really hurt by Apollo’s departure, almost as much as Artemis was. He looked up to Apollo a lot, and kind of thought he was infallible. To Hermes, the whole incident came completely out of nowhere, and he still doesn’t know who to stand with. Torn between his brother and his father, he hasn’t tried to contact Apollo since it all happened. 

Dionysus: 20 years old, currently going through undergrad for a degree in theatre. Dionysus is the opposite of Hermes, and desperately wants to get back into contact with Apollo, mainly to soothe his own curiosity. Dionysus was born after the majority of the family drama, and was only 14 when Apollo left. He’s kind of dropped out of the family emotionally, but he still wants to know how everything went down. Sadly, Apollo did change all of his contact information after leaving the house, so Dionysus is left with a bit of a wild goose chase to do on top of all his college work. 

Thalia: 18 years old, currently a senior in high school, looking to pursue professional archery. Thalia and Jason didn’t move into Zeus’ home until they were pretty old, Thalia being 11 and Jason being 9. This means that Thalia only spent a year in the house with Apollo before he left, and didn’t really know him that well. She mostly just feels bad for Artemis.

Jason: 16 years old, currently a sophomore in high school. Apollo left when Jason was only 10, so he really doesn’t remember that much about him. All he remembers is that Apollo used to drive him to school when Hera was too busy (or just wouldn’t bother) and watch over him while Zeus was at work. If you were to ask Jason what he thought of Apollo before they reunited, he would have said that his brother seemed like a kind person.

Tartarus relationships

Tartarus has a mostly ok relationship with many other Greek deities... By this I mean most of them fear him or at least have a verifiable wariness of him. (Understandable he is a primordial)

I can't reveal all his relationships but I can tell you the important ones.

As far as things go with his son... Anthony, They are improving. Sometimes they may act like siblings rather than father and son but at least they don't go out of their way to cause problems.

Respects Hera for tolerating Zeus. Sometimes teams up with Ares to yell at Zeus about his affairs...

Zeus is wisely and uncharacteristically quiet and behaves well for a few decades. Then does his own thing... This cycle repeats.

Everyone will probably hate me for this but Tartarus relationship with Gaea is a bit strained.

Initially Tartarus loved her (and he probably still does) but she more or less had a affinity for Ouranos. Not wrong. earth loved the sky; Tartarus probably thought it was ironic at best (don't hate him. he doesn't know what soap operas are and to be fair at that time they didn't exist..) He respected Gaea's decision and contemplated sending a gift and then sort of moved on.

He tried at least.

Flash forward some years a few of Gaea's children are thrown down. Ok Tartarus really didn't like the new complaining voices but he couldn't be bothered to get rid of them. He let Nyx make some new friends-- anything to get them to stop whining about how things weren't great with Ouranos.

Tartarus didn't give any fucks about what was happening above ground. And for a little while was out of the loop of info so he was understandably confused when gaea (haha former crush) came sobbing to him about how her grandchildren had been disrespectful! killing their own father and whatnot and how she just wanted her family to be happy but they couldn't stay peaceful to save their lives. So she'd start from scratch. But she really wanted his help. Yeah Tartarus actually fell for it and agreed.

It was good. It was fine. at first.

Gaea's last relationship didn't go well so it's understandable she'd keep her new partner at arms length. Tartarus could understand that. Tartarus was extremely patient with Gaea but her behavior drastically altered when she realized her exact position in Tartarus's mind.

If you're confused think Morticia and Gomez from the Addams family. But morticia is more manipulative (in subtle ways)

At some point it occurred to her that Tartarus had assimilated Kronos her son. Well she figured Tartarus couldn't be too bright given his location and his seemingly despondent disposition; this meant he could be fairly simple to seduce. Gaea is almost successful. Yes they have kids together but she didn't get any of the pieces of Kronos from Tartarus. Mostly because Tartarus's apathy interfered and he couldn't be bothered to play search and find

After Typhoon was sired Gaea decided the relationship was over since even she hadn't gotten what she wanted she did still get something to her advantage. Tartarus immediately fell into a depression from heartbreak and didn't recover for a few centuries. Rhea spent a lot of her time trying to get him to snap out of it. That was probably the best since her own children didn't appear to need her...

Although Gaea seperated, (since she felt it was time to explore her existence without a male) she did appreciate and thank Tartarus's kindness. Tartarus being classified as gloomy and depressing lived up to that description by making his apathy more obvious. On occasion more damned souls were carted there for imprisonment and Tartarus could care less.

At some point thirty years prior the start of the story he decided to learn why humans were so interesting to the other deities.

Yeah I know it's not accurate to the myth but I'm really imaginative and kinda self centered and it's mythology! Should be fine.

Timo is fun bc her whole life Demeter's "winter until persephone comes home" rage has been going.

Her family are farmers and shepherds.

So her family had her and kept her bc there was a span where things were warming back up... then it got bad again. But as marrying age crept up, there just wasnt enough of anything to be a good dowry. So she keeps adding weaving work to her dowry, since staying warm is literally a lifeline rn. But it's slow because they still have to sell some stuff to make ends meet. Then wars broke out and it's just her, her mother, and the sheep.

So she hits 17 and is convinced shes never going to marry. Then she hits 19 and the local wars die down. Shes convinced her dowry and marriage chest is largely for her mother's sanity. Then she meets Hypnos and spends two more years Doing Her Best.

Then one of the men returning from war goes to her dad and says he'll take her if he adds some sheep to the dowry.

Cue panic from Timo at her dear friend like "but I dont even know him! My brothers dont even know him! I know I should be happy but I'm not"

Bc like part of why shes been so informal with Lykos (Hypnos) is because 1: dream, and 2: shes under the impression shes already fucked up being a woman, may as well break social rules and be super close with an unrelated guy she thinks she made up.

Which is why she has a hard freak out when he goes "I'm actually Hypnos, surprise"

Meanwhile Hypnos has 0 idea of like.. what's the protocol for mortal polite society. So it didnt occure to him that that's part of the freak out. He also doesn't pay too close attention to stories floating around the mortals so he has no idea she just did the mental math of "almost had a Zeus situation" and is reconciling that with her beloved Lykos.

All this not to even mention that overt informality involved a lot of flirting and like. Hugging when sad/happy. Talking about Women Things like bitching about period cramps that kept her up. Compliments in both directions. Because she thought he was just... a really solid part of her dreams.

Like once she calms down a few notches it's fine, but like. Panic. Which makes Hypnos panic because her response in panic was to start apologizing and falling to her knees to beg forgiveness for being so rude and presuming things about him. And he instantly feels like he fucked up telling the truth, but he as to or Hera wont help him ascend her to divinity enough to live in the House. Or bless their union, which is about the only way he could marry her instead without Hera getting pissed. Which he worries about happening at all because Panic.

So they just. Awkwardly sit there once he gets her to stop calling him Lord etc... and then she has this epiphany. A god is literally saying he wants to marry her. And hes been mostly a gentleman this entire time. Her. And she was literally just saying she loved him too much to be happy marrying a mortal man. This couldnt have worked out better actually.

Which makes the follow up "ok but you need to go tell my father or the wedding planning will still happen. Also I want to see the reaction to me marrying a god" delightful. Because flesh and ichor Hypnos gets to zip over there and shiver at her doorstep like "hi, I'm marrying your daughter. Also can I come in? Its mighty chilly out. What?"

Like it all goes well eventually, but contextually I like the implications. Also bc after Persephone comes back and the winter stops, Timo does a lil happy dance about her family being able to thrive again.

Yes I did too much research about marriage in ancient Greece and the age of usual marriage. And I was not gonna make my oc that young. So implications of being unmarried etc at 21 when most girls get married a whole lot younger.

But anyway. Rotating in my mind

1. I wish Rachel hasn’t used the gods to create the comic but rather turned them into human OCs. The fact that they’re rich, immortal and attractive make the stakes so damn low we don’t even have anything to genuinely fret over narrative wise.

2. WAIT I HAVENT READ LORE OLYMPUS IN A WHILE BUT DID SHE REALLY MAKE APOLLO THE SUN GOD?! STRAIGHT UP IGNORING HELIOS THE ACTUAL SUN GOD?????? How could Rachel say she did research and still choose to incorporate one of the biggest misinformations about Greek Mythos.

Look I don’t want poor Helios to be seen in Lore Olympus style if he hasn’t yet, but that’s such a simple thing to get wrong.

From OP: Both of them are still sun gods, the main issue is that RS also made Leto a sun goddess for some reason.

3. im sorry but the only distinguishing factors between literal gods and humans is that the gods are neon colors and thats it is so dumb?? like what about demi gods? how about exceptional mortals? like how can anyone compare psyche to a goddess then if shes not neon colored? also theres a ton of myths where gods are easily able to blend in with humans without changing anything because they are supposed to look like them, so how can they do that if humans are normal skin tones but the rest are neon?

4. I honestly feel like a big part of why LO is so bad is it's just way, WAY too long. The first few episodes were fast paced and kept you interested, but once it really pocked up on popularity you can see Rachel just started stretching everything out and dragged it back to a snail's pace. I'm all for a slow burn, but that shouldn't for the readers. If it was this long and there were months/years of progress in story I would excuse it, not at most a month in all this time. It's exhausting to read.

5. ok but why do even the humans in lo look so wonky? idk i think her more early abstractions with human forms was really so much better than this more realistic but also more cartoony look, it just doesnt mesh well. sure its technically cleaner looking but it starts to show the many flaws in the art than the previous look didn't. in the early look you could excuse it as coherent stylization, in this current look it just looks like rachel and her team either are very lazy, cant draw, or both.

6. also the disney hercules movie 1) never claims its myth accurate but also 2) its still just a fun movie?? LO in comparison is a self righteous slog that thinks its reinventing the wheel and is more legitimate than the actual texts all while being so wrong its not even"myth fanfic", its just a completely different story with greek names slapped on it for marketing. disney also had the good sense to not make the whole story about a dark topic, meanwhile LO is milking R//PE for a creepy romance.

7. ngl im even surprised rachel would even call hades anything zeus related because she seems so vindictive against anyone who isnt hades/persephone/hera that i would have thought she would make a point to say zeus would rather be be called "light hades" or w/e.

8. Omfg I just realized Hestia and Athena are an incestuous couple. Hestia is Hera's sister and Athena is Hera's and Zeus' daughter. Hestia is literally dating her niece. So the only non-stright couple in LO is incest. I just... how do fail this fucking badly at represenation?

Also, bc I know someone is gonna say it: Yes, incest was pretty much par for the course in Greek mythology, but in LO Rachel seems to actively want to avoid that particular aspect (which is understandable). Zeus and Persephone were orginally biological niece and uncle as well, since Persephone was the daughter of either Zeus or Poseidon and Demeter, but in LO this is retconned into Demeter making Persephone herself without a father being involved, making HxP still sketchy but not blood-related at least.

The Hestia and Athena-situation seems like a comedic mistake RS made. She hastily threw together two same-gender characters to counteract the accusations of homophobia and straightwashing and it just... backfired in the most hilarious possible way.

From OP: Athena and Hestia aren’t technically related in LO but it’s still really odd that Demeter, Hera, and Hestia come from Metis but have no relation at all to her other than she created them. Like, you’d think even Metis’ power would connect them in someway but I guess not. The three even used sisters to refer to each other (although, it was only retconned once and left in the other time) so I still their (Athena and Hestia’s) relationship weird.

9. This isnt just an LO thing but it's ironic Rachel is in that group of WT creators who went to art school and yet have some of the most subpar art i've ever seen, meanwhile the self-taught creators who went to school for medicine, engineering, comms, etc all have some of the most beautiful art i've seen in a webcomic. Anyway LO stans have to stop using the "she went to art school" excuse since it'd pretty clear she's not the only example where art degree =/= good art.

Few random notes about The Tower of Nero

Nico. My poor boy Nico. Getting therapy from Mr. D was something I did not expect, but I’m glad he’s doing it. My baby deserves happiness.

The brotherly relationship between Dionysus and Apollo was something I did not expect either. I think I can finally understand better the god of wine and I’m glad for that.

Rachel and her brush will always be iconic.

Will is adorable. And the way he shines and then Apollo’s like “I’m so proud” and Will is there too flushed like “it’s not that I graduated med school with honors” and Apollo being a good dad for him like “I’ll be proud when you do that too” and I’m here like aawwwwww. But really, the fact that Apollo is proud that his son can shine is everything.

Will and Nico. They are so different and get along so good like wow. It’s amazing how they’re so perfect for each other. They know each other so much and they love each other so much and I love them so much.

There were two battle at camp Jupiter? Well, Percy and Annabeth are gonna stay in NYC. The battle is in NYC this time? Then Percy and Annabeth are going to San Francisco 😅 My babies deserve a rest.

The other gods can watch him in a proyector in the hearth’s fire... Like, since when have them been watching him and laughing and betting against him? Since his trials started? That is so cruel, they’ve known Apollo for thousands of years. Hermes disappointed me so much, I really liked him. I expected no less from Ares tho. Also Poseidon was just there bored to the core and yawning like... You had that punishment before once too! And with Apollo! You know how it feels, you should care. I want to think maybe he was just too tired (if gods can get tired) because of the rebuilding of his palace but honestly what are the odds? The decline in Poseidon’s character is very sad.

Apollo walking to Python almost unarmed and alone was so brave. He couldn’t have gone like that in the first book and I’m so proud of him, he has grown so much.

The description of how Apollo and Python fall to chaos was amazing. I never thought Rick would touch the subject of Chaos but it was great. The perfect end for Python and (of course) the perfect timing for the goddess of Stix to appear. At least she saw that Apollo has really learned the lesson. He must be true to all his promises from now on, specially the most important ones. He will remember. And the fact that Zeus can’t see to the Chaos? Sweet.

The way Apollo wept in his sister’s shoulder broke me. Poor guy, he has been through too much. And Artemis was there just so happy that he’s back and well and alive :’) she’s the best. “Not a cuddler, my sister. But she allowed me to hold her hands” aaawwwwww. Also the way she dressed him up into a dress was the most sibling-relationship-thing I’ve ever seen in a god/goddess 😅

“The gods awaited” is such a good phrase. Almost as good as “Release the Kraken!”.

BOOK V | HOMER'S ILIAD | LITERATURE REVIEW

SUMMARY: Diomedes is assisted by Athena in massacring the Trojans. His murderous onslaught is challenged by Pandarus and Aeneas, the son of Aphrodite, however, Pandarus is killed and Aeneas injured. Aphrodite rescues Aeneas, and Apollo heals him. Diomedes, at the request of Athena, wounds Aphrodite and forces her from the field. Ares, urged on by Aphrodite and Apollo, rallies the spirit of the Trojans and lays waste to the Achaeans. Hera and Athena rejoin the battle and help Diomedes injure Ares, forcing him as well from the battle.

ok, not a long analysis at all today because i didn't find this book particularly difficult.. or at least, there wasn't anything really to dissect. instead, i thought i might just share a few of my favourite moments ^-^

so, Book V opens up with Athena helping out Diomedes kill a lot of the Trojans. Homer doesn't take any shortcuts in describing in detail the exact nature of everyone's wounds and how they came to die,, and i think it just makes the scene all the more vivid and engaging to the audience.. you can really imagine what it must have been like in Ancient Greece to be listening as someone recounted the story to you!!

Diomedes is quite an interesting character in my eyes. i'm in the grey about whether i see him as a noble hero or not- on one hand, he fights valiantly and fiercely, but on the other, his hubris seems off the charts, and unsuitable for the likes of a respectable hero..

yet, Athena seems to dote on Diomedes for the majority of the part!

in previous posts, i've talked a LOT about how certain heroes are able to recognise the gods seemingly by their own merit...

in the previous books, there hasn't been any mention of Achilles, Odysseus, or Hector having to have "the veil withdrawn" in order for them to recognise the gods.. they simply do so.. but with Diomedes, Athena explicitly states that she's allowing him to see her:

"... I have withdrawn the veil from your eyes, that you may know gods and men apart. If, then, any other god comes here and offers you battle, do not fight him; but should Zeus' daughter Aphrodite come, strike her with your spear and wound her."

with most other heroes in the Iliad so far, none of the other gods have really had any beef with Athena helping out her boys, but Diomedes gets on a lot of gods' nerves... Aphrodite, Apollo, and Ares are both quite unamused by Diomedes's boldness in daring to challenge them on the field.. and it seemed at the start that even Athena was clear on the fact that Diomedes should not fight any of the gods (except Aphrodite-- and even then, Athena only says to "wound" her, so that she might leave the field).

"And laughter-loving Aphrodite answered: '...The war is no longer one between Trojans and Achaeans, for the Danaans have now taken to fighting with the immortals.'"

"Not one whit did [Diomedes] fear the mighty god, so set was he on killing Aeneas and stripping him of his armour. Thrice did he spring forward with might and main to slay him, and thrice did Apollo beat back his gleaming shield... Apollo shouted to him with an awful voice and said, 'Take heed... and draw off. Think not to match yourself against gods, for men that walk the earth cannot hold their own with the immortals.'"

"Then Phoebus Apollo said to Ares, 'Ares... can you not go to [Diomedes]... and draw him out of the battle? He first went up to [Aphrodite] and wounded her in the hand... and afterwards sprang upon me too, as though he were a god."

even worse to me than simply sparring with the gods, Diomedes verbally criticises Aphrodite... to her face...

"Daughter of Zeus, leave war and battle alone; can you not be contented with beguiling silly women? If you meddle with fighting you will get what will make you shudder at the very name of war."

i'm not a fan of Aphrodite, but i was pretty shocked that Diomedes wasn't punished, or even scolded in any way whatsoever after saying that to a literal goddess,, and in Homer's interpretation, a daughter of Zeus too.

perhaps Athena's idea of nobility and heroism is different to what is generally agreed upon.. after all, in the next scene, Athena demonstrates her own cunning and willingness to bend the rules when she sneakily convinces Zeus that Aphrodite only hurt her hand on a brooch, rather than the truth that she was purposefully speared by Athena's lackey.

anyhow.. another thing i've noticed about the Achaeans' side is that they're very hypocritical. i've already read the book where Hector dies (RIP king), and i remember when i read it being irritated by Athena whining to Zeus about the gods intervening in the fight, and 5 seconds later, she literally goes into the battle herself and takes things into her own hands... anyways.. hypocrisy is an Achaean thing i guess because it happens with Diomedes too:

"My friends, how can we wonder that Hector wields the spear so well? Some god is ever by his side to protect him, and now Ares is with him in the likeness of mortal man. Keep your faces therefore towards the trojans, but give ground backwards, for we dare not fight with gods."

FIRST of all,, did Diomedes forget 5 minutes ago when Athena was literally by his side, spurring him on, and inspiring him to have the skill and spirit to wound not only the Trojans, but a literal goddess?

SECOND of all, what the HELL is Diomedes talking about here when he says he "dares not fight with gods"... 3 seconds ago Diomedes was literally intent on killing Apollo, and if Apollo in his kindness hadn't given Diomedes a warning first, Apollo would surely have crushed him to dust then and there for his hubris. not to mention that literally 10 minutes into the future from this moment, we see Diomedes, racing in his chariot with Athena literally by his side controlling the horses, impaling Ares in the stomach.

screw Diomedes to hell tbh. he's my least favourite character so far. he's even less than Agamemnon in my eyes.

one last thing about Diomedes that i nearly forgot to say.. this line here:

"But Diomedes all undismayed made answer, 'You have missed, not hit, and before you two see the end of this matter one or other of you shall glut tough-shielded Ares with his blood.'"

i love this a line a lot because the moment i read it, it instantly reminded me of a similar line in Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part I when Hotspur prepares to fight Hal, and he says:

"All hot and bleeding will we offer them. / The mailèd Mars shall on his altar sit / Up to the ears in blood." (Henry IV, Part I. Lines 115-117)

i can't help but wonder whether Shakespeare was inspired by this line from the Iliad.. i did some digging, and the first English translation of the Iliad was 1581 by Arthur Hall. Shakespeare published Henry IV, Part I in 1598... so.. idk. is it completely ridiculous to think that the imagery of Ares/Mars dripping head to toe with the blood of his enemies was something unfamiliar to Shakespeare? we already know that he drew inspiration from many previous works, and Shakespeare wasn't a stranger to Greek myths and tragedies...... just something i noticed, and made me excited to read ehehe ^-^

anyhow, my last thing to comment about the book is that i thought it was hilarious when Hera asked Zeus for permission to drive Ares from the battlefield, and Zeus tells her to send Athena because Athena picks on him all the time and she's used to it:

"Set Athene on to him, for she punishes him more often than anyone else does."

Ares doesn't deserve the hate he gets from the gods in the Iliad.. it's so sad, i feel so bad for him. he just wants to have fun and fight everyone, and then Zeus spouts some mean stuff like:

"I hate you worst of all the gods in Olympus, for you are ever fighting and making mischief... still, I cannot let you remain longer in such great pain; you are my own offspring... If, however, you had been the son of any other god, you are so destructive that by this time you should have been lying lower than the Titans."

my heart truly goes out to Ares... he surely cannot be that destructive if he's literally always being attacked/beaten by Athena, and getting trapped in "vessels of bronze" lol.

in any case, that's all from me for now. in the next book, we see a little bit more of my hero Hector, and his awesome wife Andromache, so i hope to have a little more to analyse in the next book :D

imma be honest this is a long time coming, okay so here’s the timeline we’re looking at so you understand me. i read lightning thief in middle school, dropped it and read it again in ninth grade. then i read sea of monsters, but never started titan’s curse. then for some reason in 11th grade i bought the second book in heroes of olympus and started to read it and got confused so i started to read titan’s curse and got to when percy took artemis’s place and then dropped it...again. very sad that time considering it was LEGIT THE END SO CLOSE. anyway yesterday i read the whole thing again and the battle of the labrinyth in like 6-8 hours. idk i can’t remember if i started at 10pm or midnight but i finished at 6am. anyways today i read the last olympian, and now i’m starting the lost hero. i thought it’d be funny to do my reactions.

this timeline is just funny because i have read so many books, and yet the most popular ones like percy jackson and harry potter, didn’t wanna finish lol. i still haven’t finished goblet of fire yet i read 100 pages an hour and could probably finish it in a day. anyways.

... okay theories, um a goat skin cloak was mentioned to have been owned by Zeus’s foster mother and that he owned it so the woman could either be the foster mother or Hera. If it was Hera, it would make sense that Zeus gave his son to placate her anger at his cheating or whatever. They are also trapped in Olympus, so prison would make sense. Hera was brought up a lot too, and according to wiki Hera persuaded Aphrodite to make her son make Medea fall in love with a mortal named Jason, so more than likely the lady is Hera. Their king will rise from earth could be the king from the battle of the labrynth, maybe. Or another king ya know there are so many.

Doves are typically associated with aphrodite/venus, so idk about that. Maybe Piper is Venus’s child, I mean her God parent is her mom and it’d be funny since she was judging the other aphrodite kids. Also I assume Hera will kill whoever trapped her or someone involved since she’s so mad. Idk.

a crashcourse on the history of aphrodite! (+offering ideas)

she is the goddess of love, beauty, sexuality and ferility.

there are two opposing stories as to how my girl Aphrodite was born. according to the Illiad, she is the daughter of zeus (lord of the sky and storms and king of gods) and dione but the most popular story (and the one i choose to believe because it’s more badass)  is that she was born from the foam that was created in the sea after Kronos (lord of time and king of titans) slew his father Ouranos (orignal lord of the sky before zeus) and threw his dick to the ocean. 

according to the myth, aphrodite was sooooo beautiful that daddy zeus was afraid the other gods would fight eachother and end up in war. zeus solution was to marry her (you know, because women are property) to hephaestus (god of craftmanship) who did not oppose a threat because he was deformed (mommy goddess, hera, threw him off a montain because he was ugly??? ok) (also, whats up with that logic??? have you SEEN an ugly man married to a beautiful woman?? they become x10 worse but whatever). my girl aphrodite did not care she was married, though, she had S E V E R A L lovers, both mortal and immortal. the most famous one is ares (god of war). 

in history, she is famous for winning the golden apple from paris, meaning she was the most beautiful. in exchange for the apple, aphrodite gave paris the love of the most beautiful mortal woman, helen of troy, who was already married to another dude who happened to be king. this was the feud that started the war of troy.

she was supposed to be the goddess of love AND war but the greeks thought those two shouldn’t mix and that a goddess that powerful shouldn’t exist

It was 9 am when the god woke up what was quite unusual and would make anyone worried. No matter if he was related to him or not. The god would make anyone ask him if he is alright or needed anything because he is not the type to wake up early or stay awake for too long. And today was a day like that. A day his mother probably would come and worriedly check up on him since he never wakes up before 11 in the morning. But neither was his mother knocking on his door nor any other god what was making him happy and feel at ease.

You see Hypnos had a habit. A habit of always keeping his eyes closed for a while whenever he wakes up. Him keeping his eyes closed does not mean that he is planning to go back to sleep. No, in fact he just likes the calm silence every morning brings. Back at home he does not have that calming silence he loves and enjoys so much since Hades always sends one of his hellhounds to wake him up. One could be thinking that he does that to annoy the young god since he knows how much he loves sleeping but that´s not the case. Hades simply loves the boy and enjoys his accompany a lot which why he always invites him over for meals. Even his hellhounds he sends to wake him up love him to the point that they simply sit in front of his bed until he wakes up. And when he does so, they wait until they get a sign from him that allows them to crawl up to him and cuddle with him. Hades hellhounds are aggressive creatures that don´t know love, peace, mercy or sleep. But when it gets to him they do. They enjoy his presence because he can make them feel calm and feel at ease what sometimes irritates the other gods since he has such a power over the hellhounds.

Hypnos kept his eyes closed and focused on his breathing and his heartbeat for another hour and sat up with a satisfied smile on his lips. With a sigh he stood up and walked into his bathroom to take a warm shower and to get ready for a late breakfast. On days like these where he wasn´t home he would usually call his brother Changkyun to have breakfast with him but he decided not to do so and have it on his own. It was Monday and for humans a busy day. A day some like but some other hate if not even despise.

The day went by and Hypnos lazily decided to do nothing and just wait until it gets dark again. The time period of life he likes the most. It was not because he could sleep in peace at that time no it was because he could see other people sleep but mostly see them dream.

Dreaming is a beautiful state of unconsciousness. A state he loved to be in and experience over and over again. No matter if it was him dreaming or others. Something he thought was sad and always made him get lost in his thoughts was the aspect of knowing that there are humans who simply couldn´t dream. People who couldn´t experience the beauty of dreaming and it´s power. The thought about that always filled him with sadness. But lately there was something that made it even worse. Something that had the power to replace the happiness he always felt in his heart and soul fill with pure sorrow and pain. So he was waiting again. Again for it to get dark again so he could go to the same place he went yesterday night. A place he visits every two days since a few months now. You´re probably wondering where he always goes at night and what made him sad to this point? You might be confused on why a god, someone who has everything and is everything one can dream off, can be filled with so much sadness. A god might be an eternal creature. A majestic creature filled with power, wisdom and wealth but that doesn´t mean that they don´t have feelings and needs too. In fact you might not believe it but they even cry. And that’s what Hypnos did a while ago too. He might be someone with a huge pride and ego but at that time everything flew away in a blink of an eye.

Slowly the time was passing and the day was preparing to come to an end. The sun was slowly setting and sending its last rays of light into the young gods bedroom in which he was sitting in his bed with a cup of hot coffee. With him slowly emptying his coffee and the sun giving his last farewell the day finally came to an end and he prepared to get ready.

Should I wear something comfy or classy? He went through his wardrobe and decided to wear a simple but at the same time elegant looking outfit. Black jeans, black turtleneck and a beige coat with a few gold accessories. After looking at the mirror for the last time he left his house. Locking the door to his front he took a deep breath before he made his way to New York. In a blink of an eye he changed places and was now standing on the roof of the empire state building while looking down at the busy streets of New York. Should I get her something? Maybe some sweets? She has a sweet tooth anyways and might get happy. After getting some sweets and some snacks for himself he made his way to her. But this time he decided to move just like a human. He took the subway and observed everything and every person around him. While doing so something caught his attention and made him realize in what kind of a generation he exists now. Wherever he looked people where busy looking at their phones and taking pictures here and there. No one was really smiling and enjoying themselves like they should be. But how on earth was he supposed to tell them that they are wasting their time. Time that was precious. Time he gave them. Time he gifted them the day they were born with the hope they might do something productive and useful with it. But he was wrong. Even miserably wrong to a extend he even regrets giving them that much of a time. Sometimes he just can´t help it and finds himself running into Hades or Apostros palace just to complain and give them a list of people that never seems to end. A list of people he gives them and tells them to take their lives because they don´t deserve it.

With a sigh he got out at the station he wanted to drop off and started to walk until he arrived at his destination. After a thirty minutes walk he arrived at the place he wanted and stopped in front of huge white gates. At the left of the gate there was a doorbell he pressed on it for exactly three seconds just like he was told. Just right after he let go off it the voice of a man filled the empty street he was standing on. “Who is it?”, Hypnos cleared his throat and spoke with the gentle voice he shared with his beloved mother the goddess of night, the Nyx. “Chae Hyungwon here.”. Just right after he said his name the gates where opened and he could enter the property.

Surely was Hypnos his name because that was what he was. Hypnos the god of sleep, illusion and time. The god humans adored and respected just like all the others but he didn´t wanted to be called like that by his friends nor the other gods. No matter if they were his relatives or not. He wanted to feel normal when he was around them. So he decided to visit Zeus and talk with him. At the Olymp he made his way to the palace of the godfather to find him in his office. He sat down in front him and told him about his small concern what made the godfather laugh and call his wife Hera. “Look love. Our Hypnos finally came too.” He said and gave him a fatherly smile. The young god was confused until Hera explained to him that his friends came way earlier than him to talk with Zeus about that. He came five years after them what made him wonder if you would ever come too. Hera even told him afterwards that Zeus even was betting with Poseidon on it and made even the other gods curious. The names of his friends were all chosen by Zeus himself what made the others think on what name he would give the well-known and loved Hypnos. And Zeus did not disappoint anyone with the name choice. Chae Hyungwon.

With a genuine smile on his lips he walked past the little waterfall with the stature in which Hera the godmother was portrait and made his way to the front door of the orphanage that was opened by the director himself. “Good evening Mr. Chae. How was your day?” asked the middle aged man in front of him. “Thank you it was quite pleasing. How about yours? Tiring as always?” The man in front of the god shook his head and smiled. “Surprisingly it was quite calm so I could finish a lot of work. I’m really thankful for the new educators.”, “That´s great to hear. Tell me is Rosalie still awake?”

The director nodded and told him that she was at the backyard sitting at her usual spot at the swing. Hypnos thanked the man and left to find the little girl he was thinking about the whole day again. On his way there a lot of little children greeted him and made sure that the smile he had on his lips only grew. After he made his way to the backyard where he found the little five years old girl he stood a bit aside from her to listen to her daily evening talk with her parents.

“…and then I was about to win but it was Marks turn before me so he won. Although I did really well this time… You see that wouldn´t have happened if you would be here with me. You could have helped me to win you know. But it´s ok. I learn to win without you.” Hearing the little girls voice tremble while talking broke Hyungwons heart into million pieces. He was the god of time but not even he was able to turn back time to save her parents from the death. Once the fate of one is written down absolutely nothing can change that. If only he could tell her how sorry he was. “Rosalie?”, he softly spoke and made a step towards the little girl to not scare her. Hearing his voice she wiped her tears away and turned around to look into his eyes. He thought that she would be smiling and get happy by seeing him but sadly that was not the case. She ran into his arms and cried even more. “It´s mamas birthday and she is not here. Why is she not here Hyungwon?”. He took her into his arms and carried her to her room while telling her it´s okay to cry and that he was there for here. In her room he sat her down on her bed and wiped her tears away. “Want me to put you to bed and stay with you until you fall asleep?” in between little sobs she replied with a soft nod. He took off his coat and got her ready for bed. He brushed her teeth and changed her clothes. Finished and ready he carried her to her bed and lay down next to her himself.

“You see my little fairy. Sometimes things happen in life one can´t explain. Sometimes there will be changes in life that we can not understand or explain they just happen. You see humans are meant to leave this world one day. Some at a really young age and some at a really old age but they all leave and that´s ok. That’s alright. And it´s also alright and understandable to cry when a beloved one leaves.”. Hyungwon softly talked to her while holding her in his arms and brushing through her hair. “But why did they left me behind then? Do they not love me anymore?”, she asked the god and hid her face in his chest while her eyes got teary again. “I can only assure you that they loved you and still do. Even more than you loved them or ever could. They are your parents they only want the best for you. They might be not here with you anymore but they still are in your heart and mind. And they are here with you right now in this room you just can´t see them because they are angels now who have the task to take care of you no matter what happens. And beside that you will forever and always be able to feel their love and affection when you promise to keep them in your heart forever. Will you do that little fairy?”, he asked and made the little girl look up to him in his eyes. “I will forever because I love them.”, she answered him while a few little tears streamed down her red cheeks. “That´s right. Now it´s time for you to sleep and say hello to your parents in your dreams. Wanna do that? I’m sure they are waiting for you and wondering why you didn´t came yet.” Rosalie looked him in the eyes with confusion what made him laugh. “Sleep and you´ll see what I mean. But don´t forget to congratulate your mother on her birthday from me and make sure to tell your father I said hello.” Hyungwon knew that the little girl was still confused and wanted to ask him questions but he didn´t let her start and made her slowly drift into sleep. He put a tender and loving kiss on top of her head and slowly stood up from the bed and put on his coat. Before he left he made sure she was tucked in properly and stroked her cheek softly for the last time. While putting the few hair strands that fell on her face behind her ear he whispered a soft “Good night fairy.”. He put the small pack of candies he brought her on her nightstand and made his way towards her door when he heard her quietly say ”Mama. Hyungwon said Happy Birthday to you.”

With a smile on his lips and a few tears of joy and satisfaction leaving his eyes, he left her room and the orphanage behind just to go and give his own beloved mother a visit

Chapter one: Why did Zeus have to choose my wife?

Hi my name is Jack Alvin-Sulina(suh-lin-ah) and I’m going to punch Zeus, the Greek god Zeus, in the face, and here’s why. He made my wife, Alexiana(ah-lex-e-on-ah), pregnant while I was away on a business trip. Oh, sure, you’re thinking “why don’t you just get mad at your wife instead of going on this crazy Quest to punch Zeus in the face?” Well let me tell you something, my wife has been in a coma for three years. So, it’s unlikely she consented to that horrible act that impregnated her.Let me tell you about myself. I am a tiny 5”2 man with anxiety. I have black hair, green eyes, brownish skin, and look kind of like an elf, I’m not suited to punching gods in the face. woah that was a crazy glitch in the matrix. But when I saw what he did to my wife I got the maddest you will ever see anyone get, that’s when I got the idea to punch Zeus in the face. You’re probably thinking either I’m 1. Crazy 2. Stupid, or 3. Brave, I am none of those things I’m just very, very, very, very angry. Do you still want to know the details? Well you don’t have a choice, so I will keep writing.My journey started with a surprise, a horrible surprise. I just got home from a week-long business trip to New Mexico when I saw my wife’s caretaker, Amelia sitting on my couch. “What are you doing here,” I said looking worried “is Alexiana alright?”“Oh, she is quite alright,” Amelia said “but….,” She looked at her chart “well she’s pregnant.”“How is this possible?” I inquired with a sullen air “She has been in a coma for three years.”“Well you won’t believe this,” she replied “but I’m pretty sure Zeus’s kid is inside her.”“What the Tartarus,” I murmured “I leave this block for one week and things just…”Suddenly I got an idea “What if we punch Zeus in the face?” I asked with a voice so angry that could melt steel.“That’s impossible,” Amelia said matter-of-factly “unless you rally an army of people that want to see you punch Zeus in the face.”“Thanks for the idea,” I said while grabbing my keys and wallet “I’m going to rally up an army.”“Well if you’re going to do something crazy like that I might as well join you,” Amelia sighed dejectedly “besides even though it goes against my better judgment, I want to see you punch Zeus in the face.” I saw her face glitch as if she was from a video game. That was weird, but I decided not to mention it.“What about Alexiana?” I inquired “What will happen if you’re not here to take care of her?”“Don’t worry,” Amelia said “I will have Jacey take care of her.”Jacey was Amelia’s friend that also was a nurse. “Ok,” I replied “now the only question is, where are we going to get the money from?” I had worked as an indie movie director for 12 years and moved around a lot, in fact, we didn’t have a permanent residence until Alexiana got into that car crash that caused her coma. I saw a lamp out of the corner of my eye. When did we get that lamp? It hadn’t been there before.“What about my retirement savings?” Amelia asked “Will those do?”“Look,” I said apologetically “I know we need all the money can get but I’m not going to drain your retirement account just for a grudge match.”“Look it’s not like you are starving for money,” Amelia retorted “I just want to help ok!”After that we spent hour after hour finding people who hated Zeus, and trust me it was not hard. It turns out that Zeus was not the most beloved god, in fact there where millions of stories like mine all over the world. After we rallied up an army filled of people who hate Zeus (which includes a woman that I’m probably sure is Hera), we went to Mount Olympus. When we got there, we found Zeus sitting on his throne. “So, you want to punch me in the face I hear,” he said with a smile “well if you want to, hit me with your best shot.”I paused and thought about what I was doing for a second, I asked myself, was this right? Would Alexiana want me to do this? Yes, I decided with a sullen air. I will do this, for Alexiana, for her unborn child, my unborn child, for everyone who has been wronged by Zeus. I shall make this right or else, I and everyone here would go home,

shamed, and dishonored, treated as outcasts as long as their souls existed. I didn’t want that fate for anyone, anyone but Zeus that is. I saw Alexiana out of the corner of my eye. “Alexiana?” I said shocked “What are you doing here?”“Don’t worry love,” Alexiana said in a voice I didn’t recognize “everything will be over soon.” Then everything faded to black. I woke up in a hospital bed after a considerable time in the darkness. “Why am I here?” I inquired to the nearest nurse.“You were in a coma for the past three years” the nurse answered patiently “you were in a devastating car crash that left your wife dead”I realized that my whole quest was a coma dream, “At least my Alexiana didn’t suffer through that whole coma dream” I thought happily.Then I felt my life force drain from my body and I died. It was wonderful to see my Alexiana again restored to her full glory.

Ok ! I just woke up from a dream about this anime and have my thoughts more in order so imma dump all them here, thank you anon lol

Warning for spoilers for Blood of Zeus !! I'm going to be talking about some plot points so if you dont want to be spoiled block the tag "blood of zeus spoilers" thank you !!

Okay so first off the designs ! I liked some of them, seraphim has a really neat design and Apollo and Hermes for instance look okay !

But gosh every one else is pretty boring/kind of typical? Like idk Zeus just looks like some middle aged guy, Ares doesnt really have a noticeable design, and Hera is pretty bland too. Like they're greek gods, go wild ! Some of the background gods have more defined designs than the central ones which like?? Why??

I guess a positive is that they're interesting enough to keep your attention but I was super bored to pieces by the story.

Like it felt very set, like it wasnt interested in going more out there with some concepts.

It felt very like just hitting beats, just trying to get to the next point. Idk it felt kind of generic to me? Like you can kind of guess where the story is going to go after the second episode.

I absoluetly did not like how Seraphim was set up as the ruler/leader of the demons and then spent the entire anime being manipulated by Hera. How is he the leader of the demons, that you have shown takes agency in battles and can fight naturally very well spend the entire build up being manipulated so effortlessly by someone he doesnt know/just met like???

ALSO HE JUST FREAKING DIES A THE END??? Like the brother that got screwed over to that extent in his life doesnt deserve a little - at the least - bittersweet end?? It just annoyed me that it was a standard good vs evil story. Also I think I just get annoyed by the whole "you're either with me or against me" type tropes cause it's like characters are so much more nuanced than that and it makes them feel very one dimensional in a way? I also dont like the trope of someone who has gone through suffering and trauma just getting hurt once more and just dying.

On the topic of the fight scenes, I felt like they didn't really have weight to them. Like the action was good ! It was fun to see the fights animated but the sound kind of throws it off? Like none of the hits feel like they have any weight and kind of just rely on the visual to get your through it. Which is weird cause I think this was made by the same people who made the Castlevania anime and that had some cool fight scenes!

If you like this anime that's completely okay ! Its cool that you can enjoy it and find it as something you love/appreciate !

This is just my opinion about why I personally am very bleh/neutral on it lol
