All right, since I’m in the middle of a flare and have to work manual labor for the next four days despite it, I figured I would make myself -- and hopefully other people -- laugh by talking about one of my favorite OG Captain Marvel stories. Namely, from Whiz #50, with a cover date of January, 1944, meaning it was probably produced sometime in late 1943.
I want to share it because why not, this is some absurdly charming stuff.
I’ll get more into why it’s one of my favorites as we go, in the form of running commentary. So, full story (with said commentary) under the cut. If you wanna just read the story without my commentary, stick to the pictures. XD
Tumblr media
First, let me say that the cover and splash page definitely live up to the story, though the cover’s a bit more sensationalized. But the premise is pretty damn simple: Our intrepid hero and his newsboy alter ego are on vacation. Cap decides to go swimming. It goes hilariously wrong and thus ensues a bit of a madcap adventure, no puns intended.
Second, the fact that Cap and Billy are depicted as essentially different entities makes what Billy does next the ultimate trolling:
Tumblr media
Gee, airing out the stolen laundry on the radio? Really? I’ll leave it up to you, gentle reader, whether Billy actually was trolling his own alter-ego for ratings or whether he was just innocently sharing the story while his other-self winced quietly in whatever ether-space he exists in when not front-and-center.
Either way, I love it.
Continuing on...
Tumblr media
I get a kick out of the fact that Billy’s monologue is that he’s no dare-devil. One, because that’s so obviously not true in any way -- (that kid is awesomely, sometimes recklessly brave on the regular even without Cap) -- but two, because the bridge is actually named Dare-Devil Bridge. We aren’t given any reason why this dangerous potential death-trap is there, hanging without so much as a gate or a warning sign or anything, because we don’t need one. It’s there specifically for what happens next.
Tumblr media
Which, of course, is Billy calling in Captain Marvel, who does some light complaining about the situation Billy left him in. There’s no bite to it, which I find adorable -- Cap actually does get frustrated once or twice in other issues with Billy calling on him for mundane stuff, though he’s never mean about it -- but there is a bit of the sense of being put-upon there that’s just-- I dunno, cute. It’s something I miss a lot in the various post-crisis takes on the character: That duality, that difference in personality, and the way each of them responds to different situations. Often, they’re on the same page, but notably, sometimes, they aren’t.
Someday, I promise, I need to sit down and write how I think that works between those two without being a truly frightening mental illness manifested, what with them being the same person but not the same person. Because I have so many ideas, and I’ve only had since the early-2000s to percolate them. LOL! But until then, just enjoy this.
Tumblr media
Here is another reason why I love the Golden Age Captain Marvel books and why I love this specific story: This is an absolutely normal, mundane thing to do. It’s the human thing to do. These aren’t the actions of some super-serious superdude. These are the actions of a pretty shockingly normal guy doing something mundane. And a whole story is built around that normalcy.
It’s cute. It’s funny. It’s the reader already knowing that he’s getting himself into a situation that he absolutely could have avoided, but also completely understanding how it happened anyway. It’s pretty brilliant writing: I say this as a pretty damned good writer myself.
So much of the reason why, I think, Cap was so endearing as a hero is that humanity. He’s got pretty much god-tier power in the Golden Age, once his powerset is established. He’s utterly invulnerable to all physical harm while powered up. But-- he’s human. He knows he’s human. He acts like it, and decides, “You know what? I’m going skinny-dipping.”
He and Billy are both characters it’s so easy to empathize with.
Also, a reminder that the art under Chief Artist C.C. Beck is really, really good. (He had a whole stable of artists to help produce this stuff!) Ignoring registration issues on the printing press, the actual line art is amazingly good; proportion and perspective and consistency.
Tumblr media
But anyway--Cap does get to enjoy his swim. But, then, oh no.
I love the idea of a world where the prime hero -- and he definitely is in that world -- can take off his suit and go swimming, and where someone else is bold enough to steal the damn suit off of him. The first time I read this, I started laughing here. Not at him, but at the situation he’s found himself in. At the idea that some random passer-by saw Captain Marvel’s costume and went yoink!
Tumblr media
Another thing I love about this particular story is how much Cap and Billy have to work together, just by necessity. Like-- it’s just really good. But anyway, thank everything Billy Batson is on the ball, coming to the rescue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sheer bad luck via the weather keeps this story rolling along in hilarious misdirections. Realistically, that uniform probably wouldn’t be all buttoned together (we see Cap take off pieces of it aside the pants in other issues, including socks!), but who cares? The point of the story is that giant bear rug on the floor’s gonna get put to use.
Tumblr media
Man, when have you ever seen Superman creeping naked through some stranger’s house wearing nothing but a random polar bear because he went skinny dipping? No wonder these comics sold so well. This next panel is when I start wheezing, though, and pretty much keep wheezing.
Tumblr media
“A lady, too! I’ve got to get away from here!”
I’m dying at this point. That’s such a characteristic response, and yet, I think that’s why it’s funny.
Anyway, because this is an excellent story (I mean this without an ounce of irony, too), our dynamic duo stumbles across a plot in play to rob the hotel they’re staying at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s a big part of why this is such a good tale: Everything fits. Even when it isn’t explained, like Dare-Devil Bridge, it still fits. Why is the tree down? Because there was just a thunder storm, the same one that blew Cap’s suit into the room with the gangsters.
I don’t know if this is Otto Binder’s story, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. It’s a complete story told in relatively few pages that accomplishes everything it’s meant to.
Tumblr media
Anyway, using foliage as cover, Cap gets to be heroic----then Billy gets to get back to the business of trying to stop the robbery of the hotel and get his heroic alter-ego dressed again.  Which leads to a rather adorable and funny scene of Billy not only trying to describe what Captain Marvel wears, but what size it would need to be tailored in.
(Cap is supposedly a 44 for a suit coat, we find in some earlier appearance, which would refer to his chest size.  So, an XL for shirts and suit-coats.  He’s a big guy, but he’s actually not a hulking huge guy.  But more on that later.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love the fact Billy tries to like-- use himself as a model.  Maybe in another ten years, kiddo.  Billy’s actually pretty buff for like a 12-14 year old, he’s not a scrawny kid at this point, but yeah, no.  LOL!
Another thing I also really, really love about this style, though, is that they draw Captain Marvel as being strong, as having a powerful build-- but not as a dehydrated body-builder with deep cuts. He’s got human proportions, regardless of his strength; he’s got a human build, not a superhuman one.
C.C. Beck had a lot of things to say about superheroes who were just muscles on top of muscles, all clearly defined, and he didn’t like it.  As someone who first got into comics in the early 90s with Jim Lee’s X-Men--
I do get Beck’s point.  I not only get it, but I really highly approve of it.  He maintained to the end that he drew (and oversaw) the Marvel family to look like high school and college athletes, and I can see that.  I think the one person who’s gotten it right in the modern era is Evan “Doc” Shaner, who did Convergence: Shazam!  He not only nailed that strong-but-not-hulking build for Cap, but also how young he looked.  College-age, in fact.
But anyway, enough digression into art and why I like this better than most modern takes on the character.  Also, that’s just a cute set of panels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also like that there wasn’t an easy fix there.  Cap’s still in his not-birthday suit, and Billy’s still stuck running around trying to solve the issues at hand.  Next comes some other really good panels:
Tumblr media
-snorts-  He’s locked in.  Yeah, that’ll hold him.
Anyway, what I really liked here was again that tandem working; Billy can’t punch through a wall, but Cap can.  Cap can’t crawl out while he’s au natural -- well, he could, but he’d probably rather die first -- but Billy’s got no such issue.  It’s just fun when you get to see them doing something like that.  You have to really think for a minute about the trust each of them must have in their alter-ego.
ANYWAY, we get the rare treat then--
Tumblr media
--of Captain Marvel not only yoinking a dude into a dark room, but then stealing his clothes.  Except, not his underwear.  Because that’s nasty.  LOL!
I love that in this series, you do actually get to see him wear other stuff.  Go incognito.  Get his red suit messed up enough to take it to a dry cleaner’s, wherein he ends up dressed like a musketeer after.  Jerry Ordway’s series is, I think, the only other time we see Cap not wearing his famous suit, but it happened enough in the Golden Age that it wasn’t a shock.
Like, I hate to be the one to say this, but I do think DC drops the ball often on just how much you can do with Captain Marvel (or Shazam, depending on timeline, but that’s the wizard’s name to me so mostly I’ll stick with the original name) if you unbend enough to.  It’s not just the costume change, or the duality of him and Billy being the same but not, but also his inherent, essential humanity.
But I am digressing again, sorry. XD  I just feel strongly enough about these versions of these characters to spend hours writing this.
Anyway, only a single panel later:
Tumblr media
And that’s that!  Billy Batson has just outed his own alter-ego’s most embarrassing moment to whomever’s listening to WHIZ radio -- thank everything podcasts and the internet weren’t available then, ha! -- and we get to see a recounting of a very fun story.
Like I said earlier, I love this one for its essential humanity.  The hero got himself into this mess, he and Billy got him out of this mess, and stopping the criminals was actually just kind of a lucky stroke thrown in there.  But even though Cap got himself into this, the story never treats him like he’s stupid.  It never treats him like he’s some kind of idiot.  You’re laughing, but-- not in a mean way.
I love how human it is.  How complete it is.  How genuinely funny it is.  It’s a thousand times more funny when you genuinely love and respect Captain Marvel and Billy Batson, too.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this dissertation on a skinny-dipping hero.  LOL!  I enjoyed sharing it with you.

1. Spider-Man
Tumblr media
He needs no introduction. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been here with me since... well, ever since I was born, really. A cool costume, a deep and complex character who has incredible displays of power, tremendous intelligence, a hilarious sense of humor and an unbreakable will, Spidey will forever be my favourite hero. He’s pretty much done it all, seen it all and he just. Won’t. Quit. Be it villains, family issues or working-day problems, he faces it all and pushes forward. Yes, he gets tired, he gets sad, he loses...but dammit, that ain’t gonna stop him. He knows what’s right and he’ll fight for it no matter what.
2. Izuku Midoriya
Tumblr media
MY SON. Just... look at him. On top of being an adorable baby, he’s also a feral badass who WILL wreck your face if you so much as think of doing something nefarious. Humble, kind, intelligent and above all, determined, he embodies self-improvement better than any character I’ve ever known. He’s immensely relatable, at least to me. I adore this beautiful madlad.
3. Nightwing
Tumblr media
The first Robin, the Heart of the DC Universe. My dude. This guy is just as selfless and brave as the examples above on the list, with wit and determination to match even Spidey’s. Not to mention his extraordinary skill (and his dashing good looks). But truly, what drives me close to Nightwing is that he embodies the concept of growing up and making your own way in life. He’s a boy who grew up to become an adult. Instead of trying to isolate himself like his foster father Batman, Nightwing embraces cooperation and trust. He’s universally liked by pretty much everyone, even a few villains will help him out just because he was nice to them! A leader, a fighter, a friend, Nightwing is all of that and more
4. Doctor Doom
Tumblr media
Doctor., Mother. Fucking. DOOM. The King of Latveria. The Nemesis of the Fantastic Four. The greatest villain of all time, bar none. Move over, Thanos. Make way, Joker. For DOOM approaches! I love me heroes with determination, if you haven’t noticed. And thus, I love villains who have determination as well! Especially when said determination comes from pure arrogance and pride. And DOOM has all that in spades. DOOM became one of the most powerful people in the entire Marvel universe through sheer force of will and intelligence. He was a nobody, a little boy who grew up to become a scientist, a sorcerer and the ruler of his own country. Great design, a perfect foil to many heroes, and a backstory of reaching the top from rock bottom worthy of it’s own movie, DOOM is an extremely flexible villain and a compelling character. You need a psychopath? His massive, childish grudge taken to horrifying extremes has you covered. You need a sympathetic villain? DOOM is reasonable and honorable enough to give you that (to the point where sometimes fans call him a hero!) with the simple motivation of “I want to rule the world because I’m the only one who can actually pull it off”. You need a global threat for an entire team of heroes? DOOM is a powerful combatant and a masterful manipulator, enough to challenge entire teams of heroes and outsmart GODS. And he’s just a man. No superpowers, all intellect.  BOW TO THE MIGHT OF DOOM!
5. Asura
Tumblr media
The Greatest Dad of all time. The Angriest Motherfucker who ever lived. The Mantra of Wrath. Asura The Destructor. This guy... he’s pure awesome incarnate. Put Kratos, Hulk and Doomguy in a blender, add zero tolerance for injustice, and you get this guy. The guy went through hell and back to save his daughter and his people from the whims of arrogant Gods who thought themselves better than everyone else. THE DUDE DIED THREE TIMES... AND HE CAME BACK THROUGH SHEER RAGE. HE’S LITERALLY TOO ANGRY TO DIE! He killed his own creator deity, his version of God with a capital G, because he made his daughter cry. I love Asura, not because of the amount of fury he has, but the kind of fury he embodies: Righteous fury. Sometimes, you gotta stop playing nice and deliver a glorious ass-kicking beatdown to any villainous asshole who thinks he’s hot shit, and Asura is exactly that!

Gwenspiration: The Wacky Version Vol. 3 - The Moodboards
So, here I go again parading myself and tooting like there is no tomorrow.
As people still brave enough to follow me on Tumblr will know, I do a lot of moodboards, or at least I call them such. Others call them collages or storyboards or pictures with random text. Either way, for me, moodboards became a neat tool to somehow capture story ideas not yet anywhere near a level that I could write fic about them - or serve as inspirations for fics I am actually writing.
And it gives me opportunity to hoard unhealthy amounts of Gwen and Nik pics, in the name of moodboards. And science. And stuff. Whoozah!
So yeah, in this post, I want to share some of my personal favorites. A lot of them actually, because I can’t decide, really.
I will start off with a group of moodboards which took inspiration from the Marvel universe, since the Marvel universe was my gateway into the more active parts of fandom.
Tumblr media
Link
An all-time fave is the Iron Man AU... I mean, what not to love about a JB AU with Jaime as sassy Tony Stark and Brienne as the not-taking any shit from you army doctor, am I right? But yeah, seriously, Jaime *is* the Tony Stark of the GOT universe, and I can’t be convinced otherwise. And neither should be you.
Also, the Iron Man suits just totally fit the color scheme for both, which made creating the moodboards all the better for me. Jaime and Brienne were made for armor, now in medieval or modern times, let’s not kid ourselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Another Marvel fave has got to be Captain Westeros. Because if there is a female GOT Version of Steve Rogers, it’s gotta be Brienne of fuckin’ Tarth. This one is really close to my heart because it gave me a lot of feels coming up with plot bunnies for it, and the tragedy of those two people missing each other in time over and over again, always trying to protect one another, only to end up on opposite sides because of the machinations of others... *sigh*
And I mean, one guy loses an arm. The other is blond and strong... I don’t make the rules but this delivers me enough material to re-imagine this as a JB AU... so yeah, I do kinda make the rules after all. Anyway.
Since I realized that this post’s gonna get even looooonger, I decided to make a cut here and put the rest below, so not to have you scrolling for five hours.
Tumblr media
Link
Although it’s not the most popular moodboard amongst my followers (you brave people, I can’t parade you enough for staying through the madness lol), I really, really love that Fantastic Four moodboard and the concept behind it. And I just know a lot of effort went into making Valyrian Steel Brienne, which took all of my three computer editing skillz brain cells. But yeah, here again, I liked to play with the idea of them not admitting to their love until shit hits the fan and then they hide behind that because... drama, angst, feels, pining, yadda.
Tumblr media
Link
And we go from Marvel to DC little quick. Because Brienne is, most certainly, a Wonder Woman. Nuf said.
Now, let’s move on to other big movie franchises that give me all the JB feels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Jurassic Park (aka Valyrian Park) evidently holds a special place in my heart because JB fighting dinosaur-dragon hybrids and kicking ass while being disbelieving about what was bred out in Valyria thanks to some certain someones to rescue Brienne’s adoptive daughter Arya is just... a thing? For me anyway.
Tumblr media
Link
More down memory lane, I don’t know how often I watched the LOTR movies, suffice to say it was a lot a lot. We had the extended versions DVDs of the first two and basically it was the one thing to watch when nothing was on (which was the case a lot). Either way. JB in MIddle Earth long after the days of Frodo et al. - why? Because I just loved the idea (and aesthetic) of Jaime as a ranger and Brienne as a knight of Gondor working in disguise. And Hobbipod. I mean, Pod as a Hobbit. Come the fuck on. And Tyrion as an asshole wizard. What could possibly go wrong? This moodboard was very time-consuming as I had to do a lot of edits (pointy ears, tiny up people, smudge Brienne’s face on a lot of Boromir and Faramir images, smudge Jaime’s face on a lot of Aragorn images, you name it). So yeah. No matter its popularity... I dig it. Despite not having read the books yet (I know, shocking), I continue to ogle at the idea and go like: Must. Write. But. Must. Resist. Either way. Mood.
Tumblr media
Link
So yeah, I grew up watching these movies a lot, too (I grew up watching a lot of TV, period). And when Gwen was cast as Captain Phasma, I got a lot of JB juices flowing as a result. Mehe. I found it was a fun idea to play with, to basically *kill* Phasma so *Brienne* can come into play and assume her identity. And a rundown Jedi!Jaime who’s lost faith in himself and everything else safe for his partner in crime/resistance is just... I needz. So you gotta cope with it. I still adore this concept a lot even if others may not. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
This one’s just... gah. Feels. And I really liked the color scheme lol. And I watched Horse Whisperer A LOT. Because of feels. And horses. And Honor is a horse and he deserved better than be barbecued at Highgarden, dammit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
The No Reservations AU definitely has to be in this post because I live for this dynamic. Brienne taking care of the girls, not knowing how, though, constantly doubting herself while always trying to be perfect and composed, not just in life but on the job as well. And Jaime being the laid-back guy who’s just a darn good chef but may carry his own baggage of problems that keep him from his happy ending story is just... mah jam.
Tumblr media
Link
This one was a lot of fun to do because you don’t really think about Erin Brockovich when you say Brienne of Tarth in terms of character. But when you scratch away the boob jokes and the differences in where they come from, what you find are two hard-working women who fight for justice, so I found that close enough. And it was excuse enough for me to go down the lane of biker!Jaime because... dayum.
Tumblr media
Link
Music and Lyrics is an all-time guilty pleasure romcom of mine. It’s so light and easy and I kind of love how everyone is basically a bunch of awkward losers. All the more perfect for Jaime as a singer (we need that in our lives after the infamous video Nik was in to sing to us about global warming...) and Brienne as the unexpectedly gifted songwriter. What I like about the moodboard per se is how the color scheme turned out because it’s all warm and bright and... makes me happy.
Tumblr media
Link
Very much in contrast to the former stands this one. I still love the overall mood of it and I dig the story idea because I dug both The Prestige and The Illustionist because they presented something dark yet very different, which made it all the more appealing to put into a moodboard for me. While not the most well-known moodboard of mine, I keep going back to it time and time again to basically lust at all the illusions and magic and drama. And blue butterflies.
Tumblr media
Link
What is there not to love about a Pacific Rim AU for JB, am I right? Right?! JB ain’t just compatible when it comes to the Drift, yo, that’s all I’m gonna say. Reasons why I like the moodboard a lot is that it’s very different, flashy colors, gigantic robots, and I was mostly alright with how the edits turned out. It is tough to get images that fit the angles, yo.
Tumblr media
Link
Jumping back in time once more, I really adore this one even though it’s not one of my popular moodboards. I dug the fusion of elements from Cinderella Man while granting Brienne as the female lead more space to develop as a character and make her a badass sniper nurse who is about to get her doctor’s degree. And Jaime doing anything to make it work because he owes her a debt (and his love) by boxing his way to their shared life is just... nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Another supposedly lesser known moodboard is this one, though I really adore it for its premise and the amount of work I put into it (all the giffing and moodboarding). I also found use for that image of Gwen with what looks like the veil of a nun, which was probably what had me inspired in the first place lol. The plot bunnies revolve less around Se7en and more the novel El ùltimo Catón (2001) because it has a nun solving a mystery revolving around Dante’s works. But Se7en gives us the Seven, which is a delicious parallel too hard to ignore. For me at least. If only I knew how to write crime, dammit.
Now, to  move more into the serial (smooth transition from serial killer to serial TV shows, I know, I know) way of life, here is some moodboards inspired by TV shows (although some have since gotten movies which I also took inspiration from... yadda):
Tumblr media
Link
Childhood memory galore. I spent many weekends watching The A-Team with the whole family. When the movie came out, I was happy about the feels it gave me (and the “you spin my head right round” scene still cracks me up more often than it should). Either way. I found it absolutely necessary for Jaime to be Face, for Tyrion to be Hannibal, for Bronn to be B.A. and cuss at everyone and everything and Brienne giving us the strangest genderbend of a Howling Mad Murdock. It added some angst, which I always need because I am a thirsty hoe for it. In case no one noticed yet. Ha.
Tumblr media
Link
This one is very remotely inspired by The Bletchley Circle and the Imitation Game (because both feature encryption and one features Charles Dance already, yo.) I just really dug the idea of Brienne being so good at this because she is such a straight thinker but being underestimated because “she a woman.” And of course her not being done just encoding messages but getting into action, very much to the dismay of the stupid soldier wanting to defend the bae from harm. What could possibly go wrong? Right. A lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Then. Elementary. Let me count the ways in which I love that show... ALL THE WAYS. And I really dig it as a JB AU. I have so many thoughts and feelings, I can’t even begin to tell you. I especially had my fun basically making Jaime Sherlock without making him really Sherlock because that guy was the one who taught him how to be an investigator before disappearing and fucking up his life for bad. And Brienne as the army doctor turned sober companion turned private investigator turned love interest is just too delicious to ignore.
Tumblr media
Link
Pants down I mean hands down, this may be the actual favorite (currently) amongst them all for the plain reason that I also grew up watching that series and still watch it and keep obsessing about it. Ever since Discovery launched and has since given me both joy and grief, I found myself intrigued by the premise of a JB Star Trek AU where Brienne would be standing *with* the Klingons during the war around the time Discovery takes place, and Captain Jaime Lannister having lost far too much to this war already to truly trust anyone, even less so a woman who ran to the Klingons, for what it seems.
You would not believe how many ideas I have for a fic based on it. You wouldn’t believe that I basically have a sequel to that fic already in mind. And you would definitely believe, knowing me, that I am nowhere near writing that fic. But a fangirl can dream and moodboard, right? The moodboard was such a fun way of going about it, not only for the edits but because I could sneak some secret Klingon messages in there. :)
Now, on to the last part, which are the moodboards not inspired by movies or TV shows primarily but really just spewed out of my wacky, wacky brain:
Tumblr media
Link
This has a special place in my heart because it combines military and the traumas it comes with for JB and.... the aesthetic of farming. And both finding a kind of peace they didn’t know they were looking for as they struggle to adjust and find their way back “to normal” after the horrors they have both seen in war. And did I mention the aesthetic? And Jaime in plaid? All dirty and sweaty? Do I have to say more?
Tumblr media
Link
Why this one? Because it combines angst and romance and falling in love twice because DESTINY. And paintings. I love me my artist AUs. So that was my go at it, combining it with the “mystery” to be uncovered about what history Jaime and Brienne actually share as he tries to put his memories back together.  Also. This moodboard gave me opportunity to try out new filters and create JB paintings. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
This one’s gotta be on the list since I also added the Horse Whisperer. Now it’s Dog Whisperer Jaime and Brienne who won’t give up on her dog who’s seen some shit in the warzone (as did she, but Brienne will put it all aside for her doggish best buddy, of course). While it’s not a very popular moodboard of mine, I really enjoy the premise of it and how the dynamics can so easily change between the two of them if you see it in comparison to the Horse Whisperer AU. Also. I just really think Jaime is a total pet person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Another lesser known moodboard, I’d assume, but I really dug the premise of it (still do), and it was intriguing to do some edits to make Jaime’s hand *truly* golden lol. With people having developed strange mutations which aren’t nearly as much fun as they are in Fantastic Four AUs. What I liked about it was the idea that Brienne would have a kind of mutation/ability that links to the mind, since she is such a physically strong fighter that she may rather rely on that than on her own mind, fearing that she cannot control that with discipline the same way she can train her body with it. What unites the two is their strong wish to protect the people in their care, in a world on the verge of collapse forcing two unexpected allies together (okay, I totally expected it, but they didn’t). Either way. Much love for this one. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link
Aaaand the last one (not of all the ones I made but the ones I picked for Gwenspiration). I really, really, really adore this one because I was so happy with how the aesthetic turned out and how the colors all match. And I dig the premise. Like holy moly do I dig it deep. Jaime and Brienne both serving in military, but on different fronts, and almost accidentally ending up writing each other letters? I mean... the PINING. And Brienne having to decipher Jaime’s chickenscratch. Yeah no, but for real. I just love the idea so much. That they are both committed to the cause while also yearning for a home, for peaceful times, for sweet, sweet love. And them meeting up and acting like stupid teenagers, only for drama to keep hitting because. It’s eh me angsty Wacky.
Either way. I dig the premises of a lot of my moodboards (in fact... basically all of them or else I wouldn’t be making them, I guess). I spared you listing all of them, though I listed a whole damn lot already. Moodboards are an awesome means for me personally to visualize and (re-)imagine. And since quite a few people seem to continue to be onboard with them, I am all the happier to keep making them.
That’s all for today.
Much love! ♥♥♥

Get To Know Me Tag Thing
Rules: Always post the rules. Tag 11 new people you’d like to know better.
1. Dogs or Cats?
I really love both for different reasons and I have both. Don’t make me choose between my kids!
2. YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities?
Honestly not big into celebrities. But if I had to choose I’d choose actual ones over Youtubers. Many of them I seriously do not understand why they are famous.
3. If you could live anywhere where would that be?
I really do not have a “dream” place to live. Growing up urban and then living in a more rural setting for a while I loved. If I could go back to that I would love it. Something with woodlands and wildlife is ideal for me.
4. Disney or DreamWorks?
I like both but I am Disney at heart!
5. Favourite childhood TV show?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! (apparently I have a lot in common with my asker here!)

12/12
I was tagged by the @mystic-scripture @ofbadchoices @foxesandmagic and @iceandwaterfairytail!
Rules: Answer 12 questions from the point of view of one of your OCs, ask 12 questions, tag 12 people. (I’ll be answering as Dawson, Q, Molly and Kitty!)
DAWSON:
1. What is your Favorite Book?:
I haven’t read a book since the third grade.
2. Are you more of a talker or a listener?:
Depends on who you ask
3. What five movies best describe your personality?:
Die Hard is the only movie that matters.
4. What do you look for in a Significant Other?:
Someone’s who not a fucking idiot. So options are limited.
5. Who in your life (outside of family) inspires you?:
Oh Jesus Christ...
6. What is your Biggest Pet Peeve?:
People asking stupid questions..........
7. Do you agree with your JK Rowling sorting, or do you feel like you belong in a different one?:
Ugh, did Q put you up to this?? One time she made me take one of those stupid quizzes and it said I was a Slytherin?? I don’t even know what that means but Q didn’t like it very much.
8. Marvel or DC and why?:
What the fuck is Marvel?
9. What is your go to take out order when you’re home alone?
Pizza. Hot wings. Beer. Sometimes cheese fries...
10. Do you like the transitional Seasons (Spring/ Fall) or the Full-Blown Seasons (Summer/ Winter)?
Anything but winter. Fuck that season, man.
11. What is one thing you try to hide about yourself in a first impression?:
Literally why do you need to know
12. Where do you feel the most at home/safest to be yourself?
At my terminal.
Tumblr media
Q:
1. What would be your perfect afternoon?
Laying on the couch, no pants, no bra, with that morning’s newspaper open to the crossword puzzle (it’s an easy one), Steve making his infamous club sandwiches, the record player playing one of our favorite records. And it’s sunny, but not too bright.
2. What’s your favorite music genre?:
Living with Steve has made it so I listen to a little bit of everything (the guy’s missed out on waaaaay too much) but whenever I’m alone, I always turn on some classic alternative rock from the nineties.
3.  If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?:
Stupid. Not like intelligence-wise, but just generally.
4. What is your favorite foreign food? (Foreign to the country you were born)
Oh I’m a big fan pirogies. Ate a lot of those while we were in the Ukraine. Fucking love those potato stuffed pillows of heaven.
5. Would you want to become famous? Why? If so, what would you like to be known for?:
Hell no. I’m already famous enough for helping take down SHIELD, becoming an enemy of the state after saving Bucky, and being related to the Winter Soldier. I’m good, thanks.
6. Do you think legacies are important?
Yes and no. I think it’s important to understand where you came from and who they were. But I don’t think it matters once you begin to figure yourself out. You’re your own person.
7. Would you ever adopt?
I wish I could say yes without pause. Cause what with Steve and his super soldier-ness, we aren’t even sure he can have kids. So clearly adoption would be our best option, but like...I have my concerns.
8. What is your favorite “unusual” animal? As in, an animal that people don’t talk about often:
PEOPLE NEED TO TALK MORE ABOUT JELLYFISH, OKAY?!
9. Do you enjoy museums? If so, what type of museums?
Love museums. Could spend hours in them. I’ve spent enough time in the Smithsonian with Steve that I know it back to front. I’d love to explore more modern art type museums, but history museums are the most interesting to me. All those people that lived before us and had such a cultural impact on us and our present (and our future!) It’s amazing to think about.
10. What would you say was the moment that defines who you are today?
Fury taking me out of jail and putting me into the SHIELD Academy.
11. What is your favorite drink and why?
Coke. God, it’s like water. Just the sweetness and fizziness....blessed be whoever created it.
12. What is your favorite kind of weather?:
Love cold weather. So much easier to cancel plans and have excuses not to do anything.
Tumblr media
MOLLY:
1. What would be your perfect afternoon?
Not being bothered by Peter about stupid Spider-Man stuff, or just hanging out with him as Peter, watching Gossip Girl and eating a reuben from the diner in town while laying on the couch after smoking a bit of Frankie’s stash. Also my parents aren’t home.
2. What’s your favourite music genre?
I found a bunch of old mix tapes in my sister’s room so whatever sort of music is on there. It’s mostly rock-ish but nothing too terrible.
3.  If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?
Under-appreciated. Technically it’s still one word cause it’s hyphened.  And only because Peter never seems to appreciate all the shit I do for him! It’s not fair.
4. What is your favourite foreign food? (Foreign to the country you were born):
I like the ramen bowls we sometimes get on Friday nights. It’s a build your own type of place called Ramen Hood which amuses me.
5. Would you want to become famous? Why? If so, what would you like to be known for?:
I’d love to be a superhero like Peter. I think I’d do a pretty good job. I know a lot about it after all.
6. Do you think legacies are important?:
Yeah, I guess. I don’t know, never really thought about it. Or thought that I even had a legacy to deal with or whatever. Not until my sister went through all my Nana Becks stuff...
7. Would you ever adopt?:
I can barely take care of Peter. How am I supposed to take care of another human?
8. What is your favourite “unusual” animal? As in, an animal that people don’t talk about often
The peacock spider. It’s a jumping spider that lives in Australia. I discovered them during my research on Peter’s spider-bite. They have a cool color scheme.
9. Do you enjoy museums? If so, what type of museums?
Not really. I mean, I’ll go, but they’re kinda boring. I like the interactive stuff that a couple museums have though.
10. What would you say was the moment that defines who you are today?
I guess when Peter got bit by that spider?
11. What is your favourite drink and why?
I really like the brand of lemonade they serve in the cafeteria. It’s not too sweet, but not too bitter either.
12. What is your favourite kind of weather?
A sunny day that has some wind to it. That way it’s not so hot out and it’s bearable when I have to stay outside for a bit.
Tumblr media
KITTY:
1. When is the moment that you are the most happiest?
Oh, as soon as James walks through the door after work. Or whenever the phone rings with his call.
2. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I am known to take an extra slice of cake, if no one is looking. And if no one is home, I like to take all my makeup off, but that’s doesn’t happen as often now since James caught me barefaced once.
3. What do you look in a partner?:
Someone kind and smart, who has a good heart. Of course, good looking and brave, and it would be nice if he came from money but that’s not that big of a deal as long as we’re happy.  As long as he makes me happy. James makes me happy.
4. What is your relationship with your family?:
As normal as anyone’s relationship with their family, I guess!
5. When did you make your first friend?:
I met Astrid when we were in the first grade. She sat down next to me and promptly declared we were going to be friends. And we still are!
6. Where you ever betrayed by someone you loved? Did you betray someone you loved?:
No, I don’t believe that’s ever happened to me. I would hate for it to happen to anyone!
7. Are you a leader or a follower?:
Well, I’m not sure. No one’s ever really asked me that before.
8. Do you have someone that you can talk your problems?:
Of course! My best friend, Astrid and I talk all the time. About everything.
9. What do you like to do in your free time?:
Oh I love to read. And cross stitch. And bake! And go shopping of course.
10. Do you lie often?:
Never!
11. Have you ever manipulated anyone?:
Of course not! Why would I ever do such a thing!?
12. Would die for your friends?:
That’s a little dramatic!

Disney Growth AU
One of my holdovers from my old blog was what I called the Disney Growth AU, and I’m bringing it back! Mostly for the odd snippet or story post here or that, and partly as a component in some of my other AUs, since those mentions might not make a whole lot of sense without this AU’s particulars.
And also since it would fill a bit silly reposting older stories or edits of them without giving everyone the background of this AU, and anything i happen to think of. No sense posting stories and just throwing you into it blind, even if you’re familiar with it. It would just feel strange!
The Disney Growth AU is a combination of all the various disney properties (or at least the ones that fit into the Disney animated canon, with the various cartoons as having a more nebulous connection but are present), centering largely around the Disney heroines and major lady characters of their respective franchises and sub-series, with a focus on magically induced transformations and a particular emphasis on hyper curves (gigantic boobs, hips and butt, with variance for individual body types and personality-appropriate looks, and with more monster-y/human divergent form styles) and giantess.
In that later case, the princesses and other heroines are absolutely massive, with none of the usual limits i typically have in my usual AUs or giantess scenarios for the sake of tiny/giant interaction; they are a mile high at minimum when not deliberately suppressing their powers, and when they’re fully powered up, the giant Disney girls can be as big as entire planets, if not solar systems… and even larger than that, with their proportions scaling up to match.
Of note, this AU is broadly split into two continuities of a kind; one where this AU is its own thing and its relation to other fic ideas isn’t important, and one where it is a sub-set of Crossthicc as an important aspect of the multiverse, and the distinction has to do with which aspect I’m playing up.
Both versions heavily emphasize magic, and the basic premise is the same: the heroines, or princesses (whether they are actually royalty or not, such as in the case of Mulan or Moana; the title is a catch-all for ‘important heroine’ as a consequence of their actions) are living embodiments of raw magic, both conduits for the stuff of the soul and transformation, and generating it in the same way that stars create elements and light. This causes them to transform over time, growing bigger and curvier, and eventually take on more individual, inhuman alterations to reflect their raw power and coolness.
Their villains are, of course, around and up to No Good, and in between slice of life shenanigans, pranks, and attempts to simply live their lives while also being benign giant goddesses, they might thwart the plans of their equally gigantic villainesses and foes, who have transformed to become Big and Thicc too, and seek to impose absolute dominance over all existence.
In the former case where its a standalone AU, the setting is more mundane… as much as they CAN be, in the context. They live on a single version of Earth, with a different history to justify how a Powhatan diplomat, ancient Chinese war icon, Germanic fairy tale, and outright mythical figures can all exist at the same time. Effectively, they have been given a Kingdom Hearts style lighter and softer treatment, with ancient countries still existing in the modern day and altering history in subtle ways for this all to make some kind of internal sense. (For instance, modern America may not exist; instead you have the original countries of the First Nations expanded and industrialized and existing as a broad union similar to modern America,) Something similar applies to outright fictional countries or landmasses, with the world altered so that their likely geographic locations makes some kind of sense. Agrabah, for example, is a bit of a tricky case.
In this case, all the princesses are modern women, but have existed in many incarnations throughout history as great peacekeepers, champions of justice, mighty warriors, and paragons of virtue to teach others. In relatively recent times, their actions ensured a massive burst of magic that permanently brought raw, wild and Good magic back to the world, imbuing them all with it and making them living generators of it, awakening new power and making them into new goddesses, with great stature to match. Apart from now being potentially planet-sized and warping local space via their raw power just to fit into the world - packing mountain mass into a very small area - their lives are still mundane, and much of their time is spent adjusting to their new power and finding things to do with it.
Something similar would apply with the villains, most obviously Maleficent and a cadre of other villainesses following her; while not as powerful as the heroines, they are nonetheless massive and powerful goddesses… just not on the same level as the heroines, but they have the benefit of a massive horde of spooky monsters and less imposing foes that are mighty in their collective dangerous-ness.
Periodically, Marvel characters may make appearances (especially the more cosmic ones, such as Thor); assume this is a meeting of the multiverse kind of deal, with the other Earth perhaps being merged into the Disney one and the superheroes making do, with the new supervillains coming into conflict with the villains. Alternatively; emphasizing the Awesome of the heroine and supporting characters to serve roughly the same purpose as having legit superheroes here. For instance, consider Maui as being a Thor analogue by emphasizing his myth-appropriate raw strength and heroic deeds. Guy pulls up oceans during fishing trips!
(That said, the Marvel Growth AU from my old blog is now its entirely own thing, combined with some ideas I have for a DC one as well, as well as BNHA/My Hero Academia, as a cohesive general superhero setting. The tone of Disney Growth AU is more mundane slice of life that just so happens to take place for giant hero ladies dealing with their newfound powers, and just a hint of epic fantasy.)
Generally speaking, i will probably tag fics and thoughts specifically meant for this AU as JUST ‘disney growth AU’, for the sake of simplicity, without additional specifications.
The other version of this AU is explicitly intended to work with Crossthicc, and relies on the multiverse aspect and incorporates more obvious elements from the different versions of the characters in question. In this version, the princesses are explicitly goddesses; not just powerful heroines made mighty, but actual goddesses, and have been for some time.
They are, in-universe, widely worshiped across the multiverse under many different names and culturally relevant touchstones, but when one person pays homage to a raven-haired personification of Good Governance, and another gives their love to a goddess of orphans and adoption, it is still Snow White they worship. Consequently, they are enormously powerful and have a lot of potential domains under their influence, and mostly dwell upon a vast plane of magic that dwells beyond the material realm. This huge coterminous plane is effectively an elemental plane of magic, perhaps the metaphysical engine that keeps the World Tree of the mortal universes going, supporting that delicate soap bubble that is so easy to pop… and constantly on guard from the dreadful things trying to do just that.
It is possible that even this realm is but a reflection of their true divine power, a somewhat accessible an diminished echo of their full nature, but it's so mighty that they cannot properly exist in the mundane plane without wrecking it, instead manifesting as avatars. Depends on the need of the scenario, honestly.
The MILF fleet of crossthicc comes across these goddesses during their travels, earning their favor and interest, and a few of them send mortal avatars to stay with the fleet and experience the mortal universe, far weaker than their true selves but still shockingly powerful, and members of the God Squad that is a club of benign deities that for whatever reason are endorsing the MILF fleet.
Their home planea is much more mythic in tone, with an explicitly magitech vibe; imagine epic D&D style fantasy in an infinite universe of soaring mountains and mighty landscapes, with magically empowered technology serving the role of more mundane technological advances, and magic being absolutely universal. Take your grandest high fantasy ideas, ramp them up a 100 times, and mash them into the tropes of nobility and honor being actual forces of nature, and you have the basic approach! Here, mighty heroes fight grand monsters… and usually it's the goddesses doing this, the mightiest beings in all the cosmos, and fighting manifestations of entropy and cosmic non-existence. Their villains here are embodiments of forces like that, perhaps linked to the mysterious monsters the mortal plane is plagued with.
In this realm, mighty brave warriors ride on fearsome dragons to confront demon kings, mountains get up and walk to wrestle with one another, and the geography of the plane can shift at a moment’s notice when the currents of magic are strong enough. IT is in fact a source of magic, and does not conform to mundane notions of space-time. The plane is infinite, continuing forever, with ever more wild landscapes dissolving into chaotic potential and randomized impossibility as you get from civilization: mountains made of teeth, seas turning into boiling oil and crystalize laughter… and it gets weirder from there.
The goddess-heroines are so powerful that they stabilize this realm with their mere existence, growing more powerful and drinking deeply of the magic they generate and are empowered by, growing stronger still, and in doing so, they also reinforce the mortal realms, which is given life by this plane in some fashion. But the universes of mortals have been badly wounded, and the same applies to the princess’ realms too, and horrors pour out from them, and they must constantly quell those in hope of helping to bring peace, in some fashion, to all realms.
It is also important to note that given the different scale, they are far larger than in my usual giant lady fare; since space is more of a polite suggestion, this causes few problems, and they aren’t just planet sized. They are often universe-sized, if not even bigger, though they can adjust local space to fit them if they please, and even if they don’t, their presence causes no damage if they don’t wish it; their steps could reduce worlds to powder, but not a single living thing will be bothered by them stepping down.
(It is also possible that this realm is a primordial birthplace of souls, or an afterlife; people who perish come here, and after they work through their remaining problems, they pass on to another afterlife and perhaps later reincarnation. IT is the fate of evil beings to be reduced to food for the princesses, becoming monsters to be slain that reflect their evil hearts… or both. Some few mortal villains retain their willpower and become meances the princesses strive to defeat, and these are the villains of Disney canon that otherwise don’t fit the motif for the villainesses. Something similar might apply for the heroes and prince-types, but in terms of heroic spirits or great priests/followers of the goddesses in life. They came to love their goddesses so much, they remain by their sides forevermore. The goddesses themselves, or their bodies, may also constitute an afterlife as well.)
One more note; while this applies to the more mundane AU too, it's more prevalent here: the princesses here aren’t just based on their Disney interpretation but have elements from their other fictional interpretations too. Those who are public domain fairy tail characters, such as Snow White, have attributes from those stories as well as their many different stories incorporated in some fashion. Those who are historical figures will have attributes from real life applied more freely; for instance, in both AUs, Pocahontas is more like her real life analogue (apart from being the same age she is in the movie), down to that not being her actual name. There may also be liberal Fables (the comic series) invoked here, because i just plain like that series.
However, this AU is still intended to be mostly epic fantasy and high adventure, and should have a more or less light tone; thus, exceptionally dark or grim elements (such as those rooted in what may be the Grimm storyteller’s potential issues with women) will be ignored outright, reinterpreted, or applied in-universe as faulty propaganda.
There may also be a lot of mythological elements brought in. For example, the Seven Dwarves of Snow White are her adoptive fathers, in a sense, and are mostly Norse mythology style dwarves (and possibly svartalfar/dark elves, depending on whim), with their disney names, Doc and Sleepy and such, as pet names Snow had for them. For instance, Brok and Sindri are definitely there; Grumpy and Doc, respectively.
Effectively, in whichever AU, all the Disney cartoons are canon, with the ones more akin to Disney’s fairy tale vibes being more closely tied. More gray areas will be subject to weirdness; for instance, the series of Kim Possible might either be as more or less mundane figures in the magical plane of the goddesses, or as characters from a universe of superheroes who happen to have a connection to an appropriate goddess.

What If…? Episode 3 Ending Explored
https://ift.tt/3mAM15C
This article contains spoilers for What If…? episode 3.
The third episode of Marvel’s What If…? goes in a different direction than the two that preceded it. Instead of switching roles like Captain Carter and T’Challa as Star-Lord, the third episode hides its turning point under a murder mystery. It’s an episode about the Avengers never existing, which has absolutely nothing to do with the actual comic issue What If the Avengers Had Never Been?, but instead turns out more like DC Comics’ Identity Crisis.
In this branch reality, Hope Van Dyne ended up becoming an Agent of SHIELD. Reading between the lines, she was most likely killed in action by the Winter Soldier (the location she died is the same place Bucky wounded Black Widow). This caused her father Hank Pym to go completely off the deep end. Wearing the Yellowjacket costume, he proceeded to murder Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Black Widow. He was ultimately defeated by a vengeful Loki, who then went and took over Earth in a mere 24 hours.
And hey, good for Loki! When it comes to What If…? stories, Loki is up there with Magneto and Kingpin as a villain who rarely ever wins. Sylvie’s decision paid off for this world.
In the epilogue, we see that Nick Fury has not given up. Even with all those Avengers dead, he’s still going to rebel against Loki with the help of Captain America and Captain Marvel. Maybe in the second season we’ll get a continuation and see if Captain Marvel is overpowered enough to take on everything Asgard has.
In the meantime, I can’t help but think about the other players and factors in this brave new world. Who else could help the Captains and Fury?
The Thanos Threat
So, good news! Thanos probably isn’t going to be a looming terror anymore thanks to Loki’s success. The Tesseract is still on Earth and Thanos would still be interested in it, but the difference is that he would not have found Loki floating through space and would not have used him as a minion. That means we’d probably see him outsource to his other top goon, Ronan the Accuser.
In the regular timeline, Thanos gambled on the mission by giving Loki the Mind Stone, only to lose both. He’d probably try the same strategy with Ronan. Remember what happened when Ronan actually got his hand on an Infinity Stone? He IMMEDIATELY betrayed Thanos. That’s definitely the easy option for him, considering the last time he tried invading Earth he ended up escaping with urine trickling down his leg.
Ronan and his mind-controlled Thanos are more of a problem for the Nova Corps. Let them deal with that.
Iron Man’s Friends and Foes
At the very least, we can count on War Machine helping out. He may have missed the boat against Loki in regular continuity, but he’s still ready to attack with…Hammer tech. Ah, crap. Yeah, Justin Hammer’s just going to be a liability in this situation.
On the other hand, one has to wonder where this leaves Ivan Vanko. He wanted to destroy Tony Stark. Hank Pym did it for him. There is no glorious suicide or massacre destroying Stark’s legacy. What’s next for Whiplash? We could really use the know-how of someone who actually understands arc reactor technology.
Who else has Stark pissed off in main continuity…? The Vulture is a non-factor here, as the events of Avengers do little to push him away from the blue collar lifestyle. Aldrich Killian might oppose Loki via straight-up terrorism by sending exploding Extremis soldiers towards Asgardian forces. I don’t expect any collaborations coming from his corner.
Now, Quentin Beck is someone who might actually prove his worth. It’s too perfect. A man using trickery and illusion to go toe-to-toe with the godly expert on trickery and illusion. Mysterio could really become the alternate universe superhero that his mainstream counterpart pretended to be!
Hulk’s Odds and Ends
Hulk is mainly important in the grand scheme of things for being the perfect wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet and undoing Thanos’ scheme. Otherwise, he’s the big supporting character of the MCU and having him gone is no big loss in terms of ripple effects.
It does mean something that the events of Incredible Hulk are half-finished. Emil Blonsky is a super soldier, but Hulk exploded before he had a chance to kick Blonsky into mush. He might still mutate from the serum he took, but he should at least be an asset for Fury. Having Rogers with him would probably be for the better.
Meanwhile, Samuel Sterns gets to continue his gamma experiments. Who knows if such a thing will pay off?
Where Does HYDRA Fall?
The episode does a good job of using HYDRA as a red herring early on when Black Widow is being led away in handcuffs. They’re still integrated into SHIELD and, unfortunately, that’s probably good for Loki. Unless ego means too much to those in charge, Loki’s rule is everything HYDRA could ever want. Not only order through fear and control, but what’s more for a Nazi offshoot to love than being ruled by Norse gods?
The real problem is that the corrupt part of SHIELD would have access to the Tesseract. In other words, Loki would have access to the Tesseract. That’s very bad.
Darren Cross
For once, Darren Cross is interesting. He’s the x-factor in all of this because of how Hank Pym turned out. Cross was the crazy, rebellious son figure in Ant-Man, furious that Pym wouldn’t let him tamper in God’s domain. One has to wonder, does that mean that he wouldn’t be so villainous in this brave new world? Would he still be rebellious, but in relation to a madman, thereby normalizing him?
I would argue that Cross is still bad news. Pym would probably embrace Cross’s attempts to meddle with Pym Particles. Why would Pym care if the technology would go into the wrong hands when he’s already the wrong hands? It could very well be that Cross was already an accomplice to the Avengers murders. It would certainly explain Pym’s costume’s design choice.
Ragnarok
One elephant in the room is the events of Thor: Ragnarok and how they’re affected. Guys, Asgard is doomed, especially without Thor. We’ve already seen how lax Asgard becomes with Loki in charge. Think how bad it’s going to be when he’s spread thin and nobody has been keeping tabs on Surtur. This is not going to end well for that world.
Hela’s arrival is only a matter of time. Then again, I’m not sure how the destruction of Asgard would affect her powers and threat level.
The Heroes Yet to Appear
The new characters from Avengers: Age of Ultron are for the most part negated. There’s no Ultron and therefore no Vision. The Maximoff twins won’t be exposed to the Mind Stone and Stark being dead has to do something to soften their need for vengeance. On the other hand…is Wanda truly off the table?

Marvel’s What If…?: The Huge MCU Ramifications of Episode 2’s Ravagers Lineup
By Gavin Jasper
Wanda already has that magical spark. Does it HAVE to be the Mind Stone that sets her on her path to becoming the Scarlet Witch? The Aether is still out there. Maybe Jane Foster still finds it. Maybe not. It’s also possible that reality simply finds a way for someone who unconsciously controls probability. Wanda becoming one with a red energy that warps reality itself is just too on the nose to ignore.
Falcon only joined the superhero business because he got roped into it. Still, considering his skill with the wing tech, Fury could easily be aware of him and what he’s capable of. Sam being one of Fury’s pinch hitters isn’t too big of a stretch.
That leaves two extremely powerful parties. First, there’s Wakanda. I can’t imagine they were really conquered by Asgard. Not if the whole conflict ended within a day. Wakanda probably fell through the cracks of Loki’s interest, seen as a powerless country with no threats worth caring about. He sees the surface and it’s beneath him. Now there’s something to Earth’s advantage.
Then we have the sorcerers. It’s hard to really measure how much these events would alter things with Doctor Strange and his cast of characters. We’ve seen Strange be pretty damn effective against Loki before, but that was without Loki having an entire Asgardian army at his command. Does Doctor Strange even exist as a sorcerer here? Would Loki’s magical tyranny help nip the Kaecilius problem in the bud? This part is hard to call.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Yes, there’s a lot to play with in the sandbox of this world run by Loki. What’s important is that Mjolnir is still sitting in that crater. Loki certainly can’t move it. Even if it isn’t Steve Rogers, someone has to be worthy of putting it to good use.

Pixar Tier list, or, some sequels don’t exist
Okay well I’m done with the old examination and I’m trying to get something easy done to cleanse my b r a i n. As such that’s right it’s been a minute but its another bloody tier list innit. And since I’ve done the Disneys without pixar, might as well do the disneys with pixar, right?
I dunno man I’m just looking for something easymode so I can go play Zelda and not worry about missing a day.
As per usual, we’re starting the list with “haven’t seen, don’t want to”.
Tumblr media
Hey look, sequels nobody asked for. Or prequels, in MU’s case, though frankly that movie just kinda looked atrocious from the get-go. Same with the Good Dinosaur. Finding Dory came out, like, 10 years too late for me to give a shit about it (also lmao fuck ellen) , and I’ve seen enough of Cars 2 to know it is not worth the time or effort.
Onwards then to a slightly more interesting list- haven’t seen, could be pressured into doing so.
Tumblr media
I’m willing to pretend Cars 2 doesn’t exist to watch Cars 3, it apparently is OK, and Toy Story 3 ended on such a perfect note that I’m morbidly curious as to where the hell the fourquel went. The three newest ones (I think) are here, as I’ve heard good things (particularly regarding Coco) but I’m not the kind of person to go out and watch these in cinemas and I ain’t paying for Disney+. Brave I suppose is an oddball on this list, and I’ve heard it’s fairly middling, but I for one like the idea of “the Scottish Disney princess” so I’m kinda curious about it. Someone turns into a bear, apparently? How can you possibly go wrong with that premise.
Aight its time for shit tier, it has one member.
Tumblr media
(I know my cropping sucks, I’m on a trackpad, deal with it)
Look, I dunno, I just don’t like A Bug’s Life. It looks nasty, the plot isn’t super interesting, and like…it’s just bugs, man. I don’t want to care that much about a fucking ant’s problems, he’s a mindless pheromone-driven drone. I haven’t seen this movie in a fucking long time, so I’m prepared to be wrong about this, but A Bug’s Life just ain’t it, chief.
Tumblr media
Monsters Inc is another one I’m ready to be wrong about since I haven’t seen it in a very long time, but the fact that I remember…basically none of it? Speaks volumes if you ask me. I’m like, usually pretty ok at remembering movie details, but I’ve just got nothing for this one. Cars is…eh…. It manages to get past the uncanniness of its premise well enough, but the actual content is pretty average overall- and I really didn’t like Mater as a kid. Still, it did have the balls to have the hero not technically win in the end, and find his own path to success, and that’s pretty fuckin cool if you ask me.
Oh right, Incredibles II. I think this is the most recent one I’ve seen and…ehhhhhhhhhhh. God, it has good moments, but the whole is just so messy, and predictable, and just blarrrgh. The biggest step down in quality, possibly rivalled by Cars->Cars 2.
Okay, deep breaths, actual solid movies ahead.
Tumblr media
I..had a hard time with the Toy Story movies. Like, I like them all, but not overwhelmingly so, and if you asked me what my favourite one was I genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell you. They’re all pretty good? I basically just decided to get lazy on this one, I guess. I will say I remember at least one mate having 2 as their favourite, and that is the one I remember least, so maybe it’s actually the best. It has the like, massive weeb in it, right? I don’t know if I like being caricatured, thanks.
Finding Nemo is really quite good, except for Nemo and, frankly, Dory. Nemo is just kind of a boring kid- every single other character in that fish tank is great, except him, and Dory isn’t funny enough to justify being so annoying. This is an opinion from before I found out that Ellen is generally shite, by the by, so I’m not biased by the actress. Like, Marlin and his story are great, the side characters are cool, it’s a fucking Australia movie, but I think those two being meh drag it down from true greatness.
Inside Out is Inside Aight. You could do a lot worse. Disney trying to tackle depression in a kid’s movie is admirable! But the whole journey the main (brain) characters go through just kinda ended up a blur for me. I remember it looking really fucking cool, at least, but that’s about it. Oop!
Anyway the ones that are actively great are next.
Tumblr media
Wall-E is just such a fucking charming character, and movie to boot. It’s got a lot going for it thematically- consumerism, climate change, and the like- and the main characters say so much without saying much at all. It looked great, it sounded great, it played great, just an A-tier film all around.
Up would be S-tier if the rest of the film was as good as the first few minutes- I know it’s been said to death, but to be honest that would have made such an excellent short film, though the lack of closure would be kinda brutal I suppose. It’s rare that you get a genuinely wholesome movie regarding an intergenerational friendship like that, I guess, and…main character guy who’s name I forget (“pretty ok” he says) is such a perfect crotchety asshole. I do think it kinda tails off a bit toward the end, but that’s fine, it’s enough a good movie enough of the time to qualify for this tier.
Finally, Ratatouille. Now, those who know me might think I’m biased because I can be a bit of a Francophile which is fair, but also I’m pretty sure this movie came out before I started learning the language so uhhh shoosh. God this movie is so good, that soundtrack is over the top, the humour is on point, and as someone who genuinely enjoys cooking it does a great job of communicating the passion you can have for it. And the frustration in trying to communicate that passion to someone who doesn’t get it.
You may notice a particular movie missing from this list. That’s obviously because it gets its own tier, come on now.
Tumblr media
The Incredibles is easily one of the best superhero movies to release in the past couple decades. I’m including every single Marvel and DC movie in that, for what it’s worth. Certainly the best animated one, though it’s fighting Into the Spider-Verse for that one.
Look, when I was a kid, one of my favourite movies was Superman II. The Christopher Reeves one. I still think it’s the best Superman movie out there, not that recent (or, frankly, old) competition has been especially stiff. So I was here for a movie about Dad Superman when it came out. What we got was so much more than that, though. A film willing to go to some surprisingly dark places, one that still looks good even two decades later, one that gets what makes these kinds of stories tick. All the characters are likable in their own ways- I used to hate Dash because he reminded me too much of my brother, but I got over it- and fuck it’s so cool. The way the various powers are used, the insane technology Syndrome pulls out and justifies, his actually interesting motivation and plan, god. Best Pixar Movie. You will not change my mind.
And that’s the list. What’s next, Blue Sky or Illumination? …yeah might pass on those hey

well today was pretty good, best day in a while. I woke up at like, 8:20 with my alarm set for 8:45 and knew I wasn’t going to fall back asleep now that I had this knowledge so I just laid in bed and waited for my alarm to go off and then got up lol. I definitely packed like 4 different snacks in my purse, just because I felt like it was good to have them on hand for today (I ended up eating two of them). It was WAY TOO FUCKING COLD today, like 44, so I had to wear my fucking winter coat and it was awful and Chicago I’m so mad at you about this because it’s late May dammit I shouldn't have to still be putting up with this bullshit. I felt bad for the kids on the baseball/softball fields the bus passes that were already out there playing at 9 am when it was so cold. I do distinctly have memories of playing soccer in the snow, it was the end of the season and they had to get the games in, I legit had my winter coat on with my jersey over it, and it was legit snowing while we were playing. I can’t say it was really a negative memory though, because pretty much all my like, actual childhood memories of playing soccer were happy because I loved it so much, it was only once the breathing issues set in when I was 12 did they start becoming awful, frustrating and heartbreaking memories because I still loved it so much but I couldn’t do it now, and I felt so inadequate that I legit burst into tears on several occasions.....but then I found theatre and things were much happier again, so we can walk back that little tangent a little. But yeah, I took the bus to the train, I had to wait 11 minutes for the next train and it was fucking cold, I only had my coat, not my scarf or gloves or hat because IT’S MAY and I was freezing. But we got to church, a few minutes late but no big deal, I ended up sitting a little farther back than usual but it’s all good. I remembered upon arriving that small group sign ups opened up at 8 am this morning, and they fill up super fast, so I was bad and went on my phone discreetly during the service to make sure I could get a spot in the Young Adults/20s and 30s Singles small group. You’re supposed to be able to commit to 75% of the meetings before signing up, which I can’t technically do at this point because idk what’ll be happening in my life in July, but I know one of the leaders, she graduated from another law school in the city a few years back so I think I’ll just talk to her and be like as soon as I know if I have to leave I’ll drop out and someone else can have the spot and I’m sure she’ll be cool with it. Great worship as always, the little question they gave to talk to your neighbor for a minute while they transition was “if you could be any superhero who could you be” so I turn to the guy next to me and was like OH BOY, this is my fucking jam haha and we had a short conversation about DC vs Marvel and DCTV, so that was cool. Early in the sermon about the holy spirit my pastor brought up this group called “The Power Team” which I had completely forgot was a thing, but as soon as he said I had suddenly had these super vivid memories of sitting in some room in some church somewhere on Long Island (I had to have been like, 7, so I was little) and just watching these incredibly jacked guys do things like smash bricks with their hands and bend frying pans in half and literally blow up a hot water bottle until it burst, all while saying things like “IT’S THE POWER OF GOD THAT LETS US DO THIS” and that was their whole jam, that we were supposed to believe they could only do these superhuman acts because of God specifically enabling them to do them. I don’t know what was going on in the heads of the adults who were sending kids to this thing all the while knowing it had to be a farce, and that was the point my pastor was making, there’s nothing incredible about a man being able to do an act that he is physically built enough to do, if a normal not jacked guy came up and ripped a phonebook in half (that was another thing they did, my pastor joked “if some of you don’t know what that is, we used to print the internet”) by calling on the holy spirit then that would be something you could actually attribute to God, and how when we don’t believe incredible things in our lives can happen we aren’t realizing the full power of God (or something along those lines, you know what I mean). It got me thinking a bit about growing up in the church and how many kids raised in the church (so called “second generation Christians”) end up straying from the church, and how I felt like I got a bit of a cheat sheet in that area. I remember being in some sunday school class somewhere along the line and they were like “who’s had prayer requests that they’ve had answered by God?” and all the other kids were like “well I won my baseball game!” or “when I had the flu I got better!” and I was just like “well I actually prayed a human being into existence by praying for a little sister for three years until it happened” and I just remember the teacher being like........don’t know how to follow that up lol. Anyway. Service ended and I went to the volunteer lounge for our huddle up, it was the last week with one of the family ministries leaders, so we did a whole little celebration for him which was nice. When I got up to the baby’s room I was alone at first and one of the leaders/my friend came in and was like “oh you’re definitely not supposed to be alone, there were like 3 people signed up” so I did end up getting another person. Things went pretty smoothly overall, we ended up with 6  babies at one point, but ended up having to text the parents of this one little girl who was so adorable but was just not having it, she kept reaching towards the door and yelling “mama, mama!” as she cried and I was like damn, I can’t take this lol but besides that there were no real tears, everyone did pretty well together. There was a super adorable little boy who I’m pretty sure already turned 2 but if they want to keep him with the babies that’s fine with me, he wasn’t really engaging at first but after several attempts he got into it and was having fun. And there was this super cute little 11 month old girl who is the spitting image of her dad, her dad is definitely mixed race and it looks like her mother might be as well (I’m just speculating obviously) but the baby has that like, super adorable darker skin lighter hair and eyes thing going on and gosh, she’s just so damn cute lol. She’s still at the stage where she can’t fully stand up on her own, but will try to find anything she can grab onto to help pull herself  up, which can be problematic when she’s grabbing on like, the dirty diaper disposal haha but nothing too bad. There was a 7 month old little girl, and another one who was 19 months, both of whom were pretty calm, and there was the daughter of the couple who recently started heading up family ministries and she’s just the cutest little thing, she’s just got the whole chubby baby thing going on and she gives the best hugs and is so cute. So that went pretty well. After it ended I went back to the blue line train, but then switched over to the red line because I was going to meet Jess at the tattoo place to go with her to get her tattoo, so I did that and then walked down to the place, it was right across the street from the Target I generally go to so I knew where it was. They had  bit of a wait so we ended up sitting and talking for a while, which was good because we hadn’t seen each other in like a month so we had a lot of catching up to do. Then her name got called so she was talking with the guy about what she wanted done, and I chatted for a few minutes with another guy about the tattoo situation on me wrist (being that I got a white ink tattoo on it in January 2014 and then in July 2016 broke my wrist and ended up with a giant surgery scar right through my tattoo) and they basically said white ink tattoos are super hard to touch up because of the way the ink reacts to your body and it probably would not come out looking very good, so it'd probably be better to let it fade (they’re supposed to fade out it like 10 years, which I was aware of when I got it because it was another way I could be like “well if I decided I don’t want it anymore I can just let it fade and it’ll be gone” to my parents about it) and then maybe try something else in a different location, so I’m going to think about it, another option would be to get another tattoo on top of the old one, but I feel like that would be difficult to do without adding some color, and the whole point of it being white ink was to not draw attention to it because lawyer and I’m already kind of toeing the line of professionalism with my bright red hair and multiple ear piercings. so we’ll see, I’ll think about it, maybe in a few years when I’m somewhat established in the legal world. But yeah, they printed up Jess’ thing and made a stencil, and we came back and did the tattoo, during which we talked about Divergent and I was explaining my theory on how the hogwarts houses transfer into the Divergent factions (Amity and Abnegation are both just Hufflepuff, Dauntless is half gryffindor half slytherin, candor is half gryffindor half ravenclaw, and erudite is half ravenclaw half slytherin) (clearly I’ve put a lot of thought into this) as she squeezed my hand and was super brave through the whole thing (I know she doesn’t read these but I hope she knows I’m super proud of her for dealing with a whole lot of shit and making it out the other side still being an awesome human being). So once they finished up we ran over to the Target to get tattoo aftercare supplies, namely Aquaphor (which is apparently like bacitracin, I recognized the name but didn’t know what it actually was) and Dial hand soap, while I needed to pick up some make up removing wipes, and ended up grabbing a really cute pair of shorts because they were really cute and were my size and not made out of polyester and ended up being on sale, so, they were clearly a reasonable purchase. Checked out, I got a sour watermelon icee that I had been wanting to try (I got a super small one and I still couldn’t finish the whole thing without it burning my mouth, lol) and Jess got a passion tea/lemonade from the starbucks. So we then walked over to where she parked, and drove over to my place where she dropped me off and then went to lay in bed for the rest of the night because the seatbelt was like, apparently right on top of where the tattoo was and it was super painful so that sounded like a good plan. I got to my apartment and decided I wanted to make the parmesan noodle soup I made like a week or so ago for dinner which I realize contains like 800 calories in pasta but I don’t really care because it’s really good. So I did that, then waited for the Brooklyn 99 season finale to come on. Can I just say, I’m so proud of this show. I binged seasons one and two in preparation for season three because it was announced that Archie Panjabi was going to be on an episode and I was still hardcore on my Archie Panjabi kick at that point, especially for supporting work she did after she left TGW after being treated so poorly. But I ended up really liking the show so I kept watching, and like, suddenly it was everywhere and everyone was watching it and it was just this super awesome show everybody loved and it made me so happy. Obviously the season finale is a big deal, they really should’ve made it an hour special, but they did just fine in their half hour slot fitting in all the craziness that had to accompany a Jake/Amy wedding. So that made me happy. Once that was over I switched over to Netflix, and finished the episode of the great british baking show masterclass (the masterclass is basically just the two judges making their super awesome versions of what the contestants on the actual show had to make and it’s nuts but also super calming to watch. Once that was over I decided to start episode two of 13 Reasons Why’s second season, I figured I’d intercut watching it with british people baking as to not get too depressed about it. There was definitely a tonal shift in the show from last season to now, partially just because people are constantly dropping f-bombs which very much did not happen last season, and just generally being racier with things. I still have a lot of mixed feelings about the show, and I’m not terribly sure it’s something I want to endorse, but I at least want to watch it so I can make an informed decision on it. And again, I do feel some loyalty to it from having read the book all those years ago. The tone its take is definitely strange, though. The courtroom scenes continue to bother me because again, the defense’s entire case is bullshit inadmissible under rule of evidence 404 character evidence and is basically a victim blaming nightmare and has obviously been super traumatizing for all of the kids who they’ve had testify so far. The whole Jessica/Bryce situation is clearly incredibly volatile, and I very much hope it ends in Bryce having to face up to his crimes. The Alex storyline is interesting, it was an intriguing choice to go with a memory loss plot from his suicide attempt at the end of last season, so I’m interested to see how that’s going to play out. As far as Clay and Hannah and Skye are concerned, very much mixed feelings as well. Clay is of course clearly suffering from trauma and likely needs a mental health intervention, and not just because he’s quite literally seeing ghosts. Something about how they wrote Skye in this last episode kind of got under my skin, just that they’re going for the whole ~insecure artsy girl~ thing and I realize that’s most likely because I recognize the similarities of her with my own life and though I’m doing much better overall I do definitely still hate parts of me and that’s very much one of them. But yeah, it was a lot, so after that I watched two british baking episodes before starting to get ready for bed. It’s just past 1:30 am and I don’t have to be up for anything tomorrow, but I don’t want to waste the entire day sleeping in, so I’m going to call it a night here. Goodnight loves. Hope you have a kickass Monday.

Growing Fame (2/??)
summary: A modern AU where the losers are semi-famous for different things, and when they all run into each other at a certain event, all of their fans go bat-shit crazy – wanting the seven to spend more time together. What they didn’t expect even more than that, though, was a well-known and mean journalist to write bad reviews on them all. Their growing fame could soon shrink, they quickly realized. warnings: nothing, really; swearing pairings: benverly; the rest is undecided a/n: btw they’re all around the ages of 20-21 in this fic. Except for Georgie, he’s like 13. If there are any spelling mistakes, I’ll make sure to fix it up as soon as I can.
word count is 2.6k

First Meetings and Greetings
“We’re gonna be late!”
“You’ll live, Eddie, chill out.”
“Why do we have to get Georgie anyway?”
Bill glanced to the passenger’s seat of the car where Stan was sitting and then behind him some as Eddie’s head appeared between the two seats. He quickly looked back to the road and said, “Mom told him we’re going to comic con and Georgie has always wanted to go, so she called me and basically forced me to come pick him up. He just wants to meet Princess Merida from Brave and a few Marvel characters.”
“Isn’t he, like, six?” Eddie asked.
“Thirteen,” the two up front replied in unison.
Eddie shrugged and looked down at his costume. Right after picking up Georgie, they were going straight to comic con. It wasn’t too far of a drive but he wasn’t looking forward to sitting down for a long while in a skin tight, red, and blue suit. He was Peter Parker, Spider-Man, one of his favorite Marvel characters. He then looked over at Stan who hadn’t dressed; he just wanted to hang out there with his friends and record a few things and talk to a few fictional characters. Eddie then looked at Bill. The guy was wearing a Flash suit.
“Is Georgie doing a costume?” Eddie asked.
“Peter Pan,” Bill said simply, though Eddie and Stan could hear the fond amusement.
Stan looked over at Bill and cracked a smile at seeing him smiling to himself. Eddie looked over as well and grinned; it was clear as day that Bill Denbrough loved his little brother immensely. “That’s cute - forever young,” Stan said.
“He claims they look exactly alike.”
“They kinda do, actually,” Eddie pointed out.
Bill rolled his eyes, “Tell Georgie that and he’ll love you forever.”
The short boy grinned. “Doesn’t sound too bad.”
The rest of the drive to the Denbrough’s house was filled with the radio playing music constantly and Stan filming a short portion of the drive, explaining what was happening for the vlog he would be putting up later. Time went by rather quickly as the three boys goofed off with each other. Stan even cracked a few jokes. Because of their actions, and their joyfulness, the three boys felt as if the drive went by in a blur. By the time Bill pulled up into his parent’s driveway, their cheeks were red and hurting from laughing and grinning so much. Bill honked the horn as he rolled down his window. He yelled out as the door opened.
“Hiya, Georgie!” He grinned and waved, half hanging out of the car. (Eddie and Stan both got pictures of it).
“Hey, Billy!” The kid yelled back as he ran to the car, clad in a Peter Pan costume, after hugging their mother who had shouted for the boys to drive safely.
Once Bill’s kid brother was fasted down in the seat beside Eddie, and after waving to their mother, Bill backed out of the driveway and left for comic con. It didn’t take long for Eddie to go back to freaking out about possibly being late, or Stan to try to fix his slightly crooked clothes, or for Georgie to yell at Bill to play his favorite songs. Between talking about how they couldn’t be late, Eddie talked to Georgie about random, small things and laughed when the kid pouted about hating a song that played. It was a crazy ride there, Bill will admit that.
Mike and Ben entered the building with wide grins on their faces. They both were dressed as characters from Marvel; Mike had a costume of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man and Ben was fully dressed as Peter Quill, Star Lard. Together they walked around and socialized. Mike had taken off the mask and held it tightly in one of his hands as he walked. Ben twirled the fake gun in his hands and a walk man on his hip, the earbuds wrapped around his neck. Once in a while, a kid would run up with their parents and ask for a picture with them both. They also got stopped because people recognized them from the Internet.
It made them smile even more; it made them even more ecstatic of being there.
“You should play the walk man and dance around like he does in the movie,” Mike suggested to Ben as they past a booth, dodging running teenagers.
“Uh, no thanks,” Ben chuckled nervously.
“Dude, step out of your shell! Star Lord isn’t a shy hermit, B.” Mike pulled out his phone then to check his messages. He smiled at seeing a text from his mom, and he tried to swipe it to answer the message but because of the cloth around his fingers he was unable to. He glowered and shoved the phone to Ben for him to answer it for him.
Ben laughed and grabbed the phone, replied to the message, and then gave the device back. As Mike muttered a thanks, he said, “I’m not really Peter Quill, okay? Just plain old Ben.”
“Plain old Ben who’s had girls all over him!”
“Only because I lost weight and gained muscle instead.”
“Okay, that means you are Peter Quill. You know how played him? Chris Pratt! Pratt was fat once upon a time and now he’s hot as hell. You two are the same, man, just let out your inner Peter Quill.” Mike patted his old college roommate’s shoulder and gave a kind, reassuring smile. “Or Chris Pratt, whichever comes first. The ladies love ‘em both.”
The slightly shorter male rolled his eyes but a thankful smile formed. “I’ll try my best,” he sighed.
“Great!”
Thirty minutes later Mike was trying to get Ben to talk to a pretty red head dressed as Poison Ivy from DC’s comic universe. Ben was more than hesitant to go over to her and talk, especially because tall male with curly dark hair dressed up as Deadpool stood beside her. Mike kept on reassuring him that they weren’t dating; Ben didn’t buy it one bit. It was a back and forth bickering between the two friends as Mike occasionally shoved Ben in the girl’s direction, only for him to shout in protest and stand his ground.
“Ben! Look, that’s Richie Tozier from The Records, okay, he’s fucking single! He broke up with his girl a month ago. The red head is his best friend!”
“Okay, no, that can’t be the dude from The Records.”
“You don’t even listen to them, let alone know what they all look like.”
The light haired male simply stared. Mike let out a sigh and rubbed a hand over his face before looking back to Ben.
“Okay, look, here’s the plan-,”
“Dude.”
“-we both go over there but I do the talking. Mostly to Richie about music shit. You converse with the girl,” he explained, “Got it?”
Once again, Ben simply stared. Though, a few seconds of silence later, he sighed in defeat. He knew Mike wasn’t going to let the situation go, especially if the guy was in fact who Mike said he was. The Records were growing with fame everyday, especially since they got signed, and Mike was quick to join in on the hype some months ago. They were good, Ben has to admit, just not his type of music. Ben eventually gave Mike the ‘okay’ and regretted it instantly as Mike happily led the way.
Shit, she’s prettier up close, Ben thought to himself as he stopped in front of the two strangers. Mike instantly started talking to Richie after they introduced themselves, and Ben nervously greeted the girl he learned to be Beverly Marsh. Despite going as a DC villain, Beverly was sweet and easy going. She wasn’t too intimidating at all, Ben realized as they conversed about how fun comic con was, and he was a bit grateful he gave into Mike.
They all seemed to talk for a while. Occasional Mike and Richie would bump into Bev’s and Ben’s conversation and vice versa. It was smooth. Not many awkward pauses, something Ben was happy about. It wasn’t until Richie gave a short and loud shout after checking his buzzing phone when Ben and Beverly actually stopped talking. Richie’s hand went to Beverly’s elbow as he pressed his phone to his ear.
“Big Bill is here, Bev!” He shouted enthusiastically. A large grin on his face.
Ben and Mike stared in confusion at the sudden excitement. Meanwhile, Beverly grinned back. She knew of Bill; she butted in on Richie’s and Bill’s FaceTime call once a month or so back. He was a kind young man, Bev will give him that.
“Really?” She asked.
“Fuck yeah- Bill?! Where the fuck are you, man?” Richie talked into the phone as he let go of Beverly’s elbow, finally. He moved to the side some, too.
“Who’s Bill?” Mike asked the redhead as Richie talked a million words per second to the Bill guy on the phone.
“Richie’s best friend,” Beverly said, “They’re super close and haven’t seen each other in, like, seven months.”
“I couldn’t imagine not seeing this guy for that long,” Mike said. He patted Ben’s shoulder and they grinned at one another.
“Same here, man,” Ben said. “Is it the same with you and Richie?”
“Dude’s like my brother, but yeah,” she laughed.
“Guys!” Richie wrapped his arms around Mike and Beverly, and used his closest hand to Ben to softly nudge him in the shouder. “You wanna meet Bill Denbrough?”
The three stared at each other for a moment before back at Richie. A chorus of agreements followed soon after even though Mike and Ben had no clue who Bill Denbrough was. But nonetheless they followed an excited Richie Tozier. Sure enough, they got stopped a couple of times because of Richie’s growing fame; actually, because of all their fame. Each of them got stopped at least once as they made the trek to wherever Richie’s best friend was. None of them minded it. They actually loved it.
The curly headed male moved around people as he walked as he searched for the familiar brown, red-ish hair of his best friend. Richie was pretty tall, so it was easy for him to look over people; it also helped that Bill was on the tall side as well. Soon enough, Richie noticed the familiar head of hair and didn’t hesitate to run to the boy. Beverly groaned and complained as Richie took off running and Mike just laughed; he didn’t hear anything from Ben, but he was sure the guy made an facial expression of sorts.
The instant Richie got close enough, he tackled Bill Denbrough in a hug from behind. One arm over one of Bill’s shoulders, the other arm over Bill’s arm; both arms held him in a tight hug. His head head went in the crook of Bill’s neck and he grinned. Bill knew instantly that it was Richie. No one else had hugged him so oddly from behind before. Plus, no one else was so touchy, either. Richie loved hugs - both getting and giving them.
“What’s up, Rich?” Bill asked with a large smile, laughing slightly as he patted Richie’s arms.
“Not seeing my best friend for seven months fucking sucks,” Richie said.
“Uh, Rich, my brother is-.”
Richie flung from Bill and looked around until he caught sight of a taller Georgie Denbrough. “Georgie!” He shouted. There was no denying the fact that Richie loved the two Denbrough brothers; everyone else standing around them could tell exactly that.
“Richie!” Georgie shouted back and rushed to hug the older boy.
After pulling away from the smaller Denbrough’s hug, Richie leaned on the short male beside Bill. His arm rested on the unknown guy’s shoulder. “So, let’s do some introductions, yeah?”
“Get the fuck off of me,” the short guy snapped out and shoved Richie’s elbow off of him.
“Eddie, stop saying the f-bomb around my brother,” Bill said.
“Your mom was saying the complete opposite last night, cutie.” He winked and smirked, making the other boy groan and roll his eyes.
“Beep beep, Richie,” once again, it came from Bill.
For the next twenty minutes, introductions were said and the group of eight talked among themselves. Everyone got along pretty well. The occasional “fuck off” was thrown at Richie from Eddie Kaspbrak or Stan Uris, but still the two boys found some humor in what the singer joked about. It wasn’t until, though, that Ben noticed the absence of a certain thirteen year old boy that everyone realized they weren’t a group of eight. It was a group of seven.
Bill instantly started freaking out. Where the fuck could he had disappeared to? He couldn’t be the reason his brother was kidnapped. His parents would  be devastated, including him. Richie calmed his best friend down enough to say they should all split up and search for Georgie. And that’s how a Jedi, the Flash, two Spider-Men, Deadpool, Star Lord, and Poison Ivy started yelling the kid’s name as they searched everywhere they could in the building.
Thankfully, though, it didn’t take long at all to find Georgie. He had ran off in excitement at seeing someone cosplaying as Princess Merida that he simply bolted without telling the others around him. The rest of the time they were there, they walked around as a group and hung out. It was amazing how easily they all got along, even with the occasional ‘beep beep, Richie’ from Bill or Beverly when the guy had almost gone too far with saying something.
It was also almost like a train wreck around them as well. Not a bad one, if that makes any sense; but a train wreck where they were all just goofing around and sometimes causing a scene within the crowds with how loud they got. (No thanks to Richie or Georgie or Eddie).
“Where do you guys live from here?” Bill asked.
“Rich and I are just thirty minutes away,” Beverly answered.
“Two hours,” Mike said for himself and Ben. “You guys?”
“Forty-five minutes, an hour at most,” Eddie said.
“Why?” Ben asked.
Bill shrugged and carefully watched as Georgie fumbled with a toy of sorts he had gotten earlier, trying to open the box it came in. He then looked back up to the others. “Just wondering. Maybe we could all hang out? You’re pretty fun to be around with,” he explained.
Stan raised an eyebrow but it quickly went back down as he said, “I agree, honestly. Even Trashmouth over here isn’t so bad.”
“Trashmouth, that’s a new one,” Richie laughed.
“I’m surprised,” Eddie said. Richie looked at him and flashed him a smile. The shorter male just shook his head and looked away.
“Yeah, you guys are pretty cool,” Ben said.
“Even though I’m literally the only girl here, I actually don’t mind being with you. So I will fu- freaking love it if we hung out again,” Beverly quickly corrected herself to not say the f-bomb around Georgie, even though she was pretty sure he had probably heard it from a few strangers at comic con.
“Then it’s settled!” Richie yelled. He threw his arms around the two people beside, which happened to be Beverly and Bill. “Let’s all exchange numbers and figure out a day to hang out so we can get to know each other better!”
And that’s exactly what they did. Well, actually, Beverly got a pen and a random piece of balled up paper from her bag and wrote down everyone’s numbers. Once she was done with that, the seven took a picture of the piece of paper so they could all add the numbers in later.

@burtonesquevincent tagged me, thanks! :)
Rules: answer all the questions, add one of your own and tag as many people as there are questions i mean you can tag other people then :)
1. coke or pepsi?
lemon pepsi? idk
2. disney or dreamworks?
Dreamworks!
3. coffee or tea?
herbal/fruit/light green tea. I don’t like bitter taste.
4. books or movies?
both
5. windows or mac?
Windows? I used to want Mac, but today it just seems like an overpriced product that prefers design over functionality. Once game developers start including Linux I’ll switch to Linux.
6. dc or marvel?
I feel like it’s more about the writers, as I just don’t like big corporations much. I really liked Young Avengers and Journey into Mystery. And Agent of Asgard, but it broke my heart so idk if I can recommend it (yes I can), I’ve also read some Robin stuff (mostly Nightwing and Red Robin), where the quality differed as it was written by numerous authors. I want to read Ms Marvel. I started to read Wicked and Divine (Image comics) but there was too much pop-culture references that said nothing to me (not sure, if i’m too eastern Europe, too young, or too abstinent for it. but I might revisit it later because the plot was interesting)
7. xbox or playstation?
PC. Only game console I like is a good ol’ gameboy. (read as: i’m broke and i’ve never owned either)
8. dragon age or mass effect?
Dragon Age, the plots seem more interesting and I love fantasy more than military sci-fi. I don’t like the design of either. I would say I’m picky, when it comes to 3D games, but then... I like WoW, Minecraft, Don’t Starve, Pokémon, Undertale, point ‘n’ click text-heavy adventures and Subnautica and not much more. So idk :D I prefer isometrics and 2D, exploring landscapes, gathering resources, getting to know characters, uncovering mysteries. Romance, timed missions and teambuilding? Nah. 1st person shooters? EVIL.
9. night owl or early riser?
hoo hoo, it’s currently after 1AM and since I don’t have work tommorow, I’m not getting out of bed before the lunch :D
10. cards or chess?
cards. chess are too depressive (idk why, it just makes me sad even if I don’t lose)
11. chocolate or vanilla?
vanilla. I rarely eat chocolate and I used to like the white one the best before I started eating vegan. i got used to the chocolate flavour and sometimes actually crave it a lot, but i still mostly prefer vanilla flavour.
12.vans or converse?
never had any of them, but I would really like to have converse style shoes that go mid-calf length.
13. fluff or angst?
hurt comfort with happy, even unrealisticaly sweet ending. shut up.
14. beach or forest?
calm beach near a calm forrest where there are no dangerous or annoying insects (my skin is delicate and insects tend to be inconsiderate :D)
15. dogs or cats?
generally? cats, i just too often can’t share the dog enthusiasm and being a good team player exhausts me. but animals have different personalities that doesn’t have to match the stereotypes, so I keep an open mind.
16. clear skies or rain?
both is nice, as long as it changes in few days
17. cooking or eating out?
Eating out, probably. I’m not a terrific cook and I hate doing the dishes.
18. spicy food or mild food?
Spicy!
19. halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas?
Halloween. But I like both :)
20. would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot?
eh, probably the first one, but both sounds shit
21. if you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Telekinesis and flying. Aka I wouldn’t have to get up for snacks and I could avoid all obstacles and people when running late somewhere. Also discovering abandoned roofs and towers :3 Oh, and it would be nice if I actually could remember stuff and stay motivated :D
22. animation or live action?
unfair! but if I had to choose, 2D animation.
23. baths or showers?
baths aren’t an option mostly, not enough hot water or bad bath tub. I love baths, but only when it’s perfect temperature and a nice bath tub. otherwise, showers.
24. team cap or team ironman?
MCU? Steve. Comics? Idk, neither.
25. fantasy or sci-fi?
my favourite setting is when it mixes
26. do you have three or four favourite quotes, if so, what are they?
All that is gold does not glitter/Not all those who wander are lost (LotR)
Everybody want’s to change the world but no one wants to die (MCR)
27. youtube or netflix?
youtube
28. harry potter or percy jackson?
Harry Potter. I didn’t read PJ.
29. when do you feel accomplished?
when I can make the brave decision.
30. star wars or star trek?
really?? both, ofc.
31. paperback or hardback books?
hardback, except for the Terry Pratchett books.
32. horror or rom-com?
Hm. How about a horror setting, but it’s funny in an un-american way?
33. tv shows or movies?
eeeeeh, probably movies, i don’t have much time lately so it’s more accesible medium for me
34. favourite animal?
cats, water turtles, parrots, elephants, monkeys...
35. favourite genre of music?
rock, country, rock ‘n’ roll... I like quick beat and catchy melody. I don’t like recitals/hip hop/rap, baladas and whiny pop.
36. least favourite book?
I tend not to remember books I dislike. Serves them good.
37. favourite season?
Late spring, not too hot summer days and early autumn. Temperature is everything.
38. song that’s currently stuck in your head?
Nothing in particular. But I’m always in mood to sing good ol’ MCR at shower :D
39. what kind of pyjamas do you wear?
sweatpants/shorts and a tank top/shirt. zero shoes.
40. how many existential crises do you have on an average day?
Lately, not that much? It’s like twice a week usually, but nothing devastating.
41. if you can only choose one song to be played at your funeral, what would it be?
i don’t think I’ve actually thought about my funeral before? I wouldn’t choose anything with words, just some calm but uplifting melody. Maybe Undertale (from Undertale :).
42. favourite theme song to a TV show?
dun dun dun... go go naruto! :D idek, I don’t even atch TV shows that much...
43. harry potter movies or books?
I liked the books more, but I can’t remember when I read them the last time. The movies are cool too though :)
44. you can make your OTP become canon but you’ll forget that tumblr exists. will you do it?
I’m not giving up this site up! It has it’s problems and bugs, but most of the time it encourages me and puts nice pictures on my dash, so I feel better.
45. do you play an instrument and if so, what is it?
I play the piano badly and I have a basic knowledge how most of the instruments work, does it count? :D
46. what is the worst way to die?
hopeless
47. if you could be entirely invisible for a day, what would you do?
I would use it to make a political statement or action - I would try to find dirt on openly bigoted and hateful famous people and politicians, and maybe sabbotage some neonazis.
48. If you could have personally witnessed anything in history what would it be?
I’d be fascined to find out what was there before the Big Bang. I don’t think I’d be able to comprehend it by just human senses alone though...
49. If you could understand animals but you could never understand humans again, would you?
No. I worked hard to understand at least a little about humans. And I don’t think understanding animals (at least to some extent) is impossible for humans.
50. What is your most favourite album currently?
I don’t do albums.
51. What is your favourite word/phrase/colloquiallism? Name one (or more) per language you speak c:
We’ll burn that bridge when we get there. (eng)
Wanderlust (de) - longing to travel and explore (ok, saying i speak german would be a bit of an overstatement, but i like this word and i vagely understand german, so...)
Kdo si hraje, nezlobí (cz) - [playing prevents mischief] used in situations where the playing leads directly to mischief
52. What mythical creature would you like to be able to transform into?
And now, the tags! I tag everybody who:
- likes doing long tag games
- is willing to tag me in ther post so i can read your answers
( @kaimaciel? @kitikara? @gentianablue? :)

O U T   O F   S U N L I G H T
Hello There! Thank you so much for you kind words! And may I be one of the first to welcome you to the Roleplay Community on Tumblr, as well as ( more specifically?) to the Comicbook Fandom! I’ve been exactly where you are now, my friend, as a veteran of RP from other sites and venues, newly branching into this hot little mecca of writing known as Tumblr!
I think you’re really going to like it here. :)
Tumblr is an expansive universe where the possibilities are limitless, both within and beyond the fandom your character might originally hail from. It is the birthplace of some truly wonderful things, like SuperWhoLock, Batfamily Shenanigans, and Redemption from Marvel’s Civil War 2 trash. On here, all those usual rules that controlled the way you wrote your character in an RP Community or chat room no longer exist, granting you freedom to interpret them any way you wish (or multiple ways in multiple settings!). Many fandom, like the DC Comics Fandom, are populated by passionate and friendly writers who want to interact with others that feel just as strongly about the universe as they do!
But, and I’m sure you’ve heard this, RPing on Tumblr is not for the faint of heart. All those things that make this place a source of creativity and inspiration also allow for some serious issues. The site itself can be a challenge, not really designed for intuitive, flowing RP threads. The atmosphere of a fandom, usually so positive, is also constantly changing in nature, and populated heavily by free variables (i.e. people), so that there are no comfort zones for anyone involved.
On one hand, this will make you a better writer, a more conscientious interpreter of character motives, and a much stronger RPer overall. On the other hand…. well, even the best fandoms have their fair share of abuse, and no one is immune to having their feelings hurt.
Knowing all this, me and my fellow roleplayers still come online to write our hearts out everyday, because we love to write and Tumblr is hands-down one of the most prolific places for Roleplay on the internet. And I’ll tell you this, lovely anon, hard as it is, tumblr RP is also a breeding ground for wonderful and meaningful friendships that will last far longer than even the strongest OTP. That’s why I’m so pleased to heard that you are willing to give Tumblr RP a try, even if you don’t feel totally certain about how to start.
As for me, I look forward to seeing you in the this fandom community (or perhaps another!) and possibly interacting with you in the future. Thank you so much for trusting me enough with your question. I’m certainly not an expert on being a successful roleplayer (some days I make a potato look like a better talent than me!), but I hope I can offer a few small pointers that might help you get started on your way to RP glory.
First of all, regardless of whatever fandom has caught your fancy, I suggest you research the atmosphere of the RP community here on Tumblr. Use the search feature to scope out RP tags for the fandom, spot promos for characters, and stalk any RP communities currently seeking applications on the site.  All this information will give you a feel for the type of RP experience you’ll have while in that fandom., and may influence your decision to take up a certain character.
If you have a personal tumblr blog, but you want to RP a character in a fandom, then I highly recommend you make another (completely separate) tumblr blog. Sideblogs are nice, but they don’t work well when you’re following others and want to interact via asks, replies etc. Things can get very confusing, very fast, especially in the activity feed!
Many people swear by their ‘About’ pages, and that’s a good thing. Once you’ve created your character blog and start reaching out to others, most RPers on tumblr will bee-line for your ‘About’ or ‘Rules’ page as soon as they see you’ve followed them. This is a courtesy so they can know how to best approach your character and what the important details should be known when RPing with you. So, to hedge your bets in a good way, always make an About Page and include all vital details about your character on it!
Also, keep in mind, there is no wrong way to write an About Page. You can check other RPers’ blogs for examples, but just write it however most makes sense to you. As long as it gives the reader an understanding of your vision with your character, that’s what matters.
Sometimes when you’re starting out, especially if you’re playing an OC or a lesser known Canon character, you’re going to have to be the brave one that reaches out to others and asks for threads. Just posting opens and following other blogs might not get you the responses you hope for, and I don’t want that to discourage you. Don’t be afraid to (respectfully) go after the RPer you’re interested in writing with, I guarantee they’re all super nice people and they will respond favorably to your interest in them!
Depending on the type of person you are, I would recommend possibly getting an instant messenger account for your RP blogs. I know that Tumblr messenger exists, but many RPers prefer to limit access to who can message them via that interface. The most popular instant messenger choices on tumblr are Skype, Kik, and Discord. This is certainly Not a requirement, and please don’t feel pressured to get an account if you are not comfortable with talking to strangers via instant messenger. But, if you love to spazz out over your fandom, and you love to share plot ideas and headcanons, then you will find a great many fast friends in the RP fandoms on tumblr. So many writers (me included!) love to share their inspiration in this quick way, and translate it to writing on the site!
Learn the fine art of tagging posts. Tags are just about the only thing we Tumblr RPers have as a search filter on this website, and some of us follow certain tags religiously. And I don’t just mean our tumblr url, I mean anything we feel is relevant to our character. For example, I track the tags: #sunxking, #apollo, #midnighterandapollo, #midnighter, #TheAuthority, etc. I also generously tag anything I post so that I can easily find it again on my blog, or provide navigation links to it for others to find. (such as #openstarter for all my Apollo RP opens). Additionally, I feel it’s important to be careful in tagging for triggering posts. I always tag with the keyword of the triggering content, and append the triggering keyword with either ‘ts’ (for tumblr savior) or ‘tw’ for “trigger warning.” Keep in mind that if you’re tagging an original post (not a reblog) that only the first five tags are picked up by the tumblr search engine.
Stay open minded. And I don’t just mean in regards to crossovers and alternate universes. There will be RPers that you will meet that may interpret a well-known character in a way that seems entirely contradictory to how you envision them. And you may like it… or you may not. But sometimes thinking outside of the box produces great rewards, and you never know what innovative idea might spring out of a crack conversation. Regardless, always follow the rule of thumb: Respect others and lead with kindness.
Hopefully these initial pointers will help you hit the ground running with an RP blog on tumblr! There are other things people focus on, like the right theme, or text formatting… but that stuff doesn’t really matter to me. Personally, as long as your writing content reflects your dedication to your character, I am interested in reading it!
Again, Welcome to this amazing place, and I wish you all the success and fun with your character.
Best of Luck!

Superhero Activities to Empower Students – Teacher Reboot Camp
“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble” – May Parker, Spider-Man 2 Every student can find a superhero to admire and learn from. Superheroes help empower students to be brave enough to stand up for what they believe is the right thing to do. This is especially important now, because our students connect with a large audience on the Internet and need to make better choices. Studying superheroes also gets our students excited about reading, writing, science, math, history, and politics. Find several superhero inspired activities, web tools, and resources in my slide presentation, Invincible! Superhero Activities and Resources to Empower Students. Find additional ideas for teaching English learners in my ESL Library article, I’m Invincible! Resources, Apps, & Lesson Ideas About Superheroes. You can attend my free webinar this Friday, April 27th, at 4pmET/9pmUK about this topic. Just login as a guest at the time.
