2023 has come to a close so that means it's time for my year in review! i've been a gif maker on tumblr for more than two years now and this account keeps growing and getting so much love. im so grateful for all of my (jong)homies and mutuals that have let me get to this point and have fun along with it. like, i hit 1k and 2k followers in the same year! thats fucking rad!

i giffed a lot more this year than last and i think it's because i was finally able to get ps and vapoursynth near the end of 2022. my confidence soared as a result. not to get mushy, but this year on tumblr has been amazing because of that. :( this was the first full year i felt like a "real" and "competent" gif maker because i finally was using the tools that everyone else was using and i knew how to use them. thats a big thing for me, because for so long i struggled with figuring out how to download vs (and ps) (on mac btw) and i felt jealous that everyone else could do it so "easily." ps and vs are also really unintuitive if you dont know what youre doing so to basically brute force my way to success is something i want to pat myself on the back for. i did this. im insane. and now ive been properly expressing my insanity via gifs for over a year now that ive been so proud of! yippie!!!! as a result of my Trials and Tribulations, ive been thinking about creating tutorials for how to download ps, vs, and how to properly use ps to make gifs for those that dont even know where to begin now that i am a Seasoned user. bc i fucking get it. let me lend a hand.

but anyway.

the world ep. fin: will by ateez (2023) - if u know me u know ateez is gonna be on this list no matter what. this album literally came out in december and it became my top album of 2023 in terms of listening time. whole album makes me lose my mind. it’s a masterpiece. 10/10, their best album of all time. even if you’re not a kpop fan i highly highly highly recommend this album, it’s just so much fun from beginning to end!!

the world ep. 2: outlaw by ateez (2023) - if u really know me u will know ateez is gonna appear on this list more than once! :) bouncy was my #1 listened song on spotify in 2023 and i think outlaw was either #3 or #4. ateez is incredible they dropped 2 absolute banger albums in one year i love them sooo much.

take me back to eden by sleep token (2023) - hearing the summoning for the first time genuinely altered my brain chemistry and made me a worse person. like i’m preparing to drop everything and go to another state just to see this band live bc the tickets in my state are just so insanely priced. it’s crazy how many different styles of music these guys are able to squeeze onto one album, so much love for this body of work. definitely one of my fav albums maybe ever

remember that you will die by polyphia (2022) - this album has been consistently in my rotation for the last full year and then some it’s so so so good. i’m not usually a fan of purely instrumental stuff, but polyphia is the distinct exception to that rule!! i was supposed to see them in concert but i had to miss it bc something came up that day and it made me so sad ;-;

the black parade by my chemical romance (2006) - do i even really need to explain this one? i don’t think i need to explain this one :’)

so much (for) stardust by fall out boy (2023) - thank god fall out boy is back making music with real guitars let me tell u. and thank god i got to see it and thank god i’m going to see it again in a couple months. really good album front to back, not my favorite fall out boy album by any means, but definitely good enough to earn a top spot in my albums of 2023!

versus: villains by dreamcatcher (2023) - another kpop album (surprise surprise)! deukae is my favorite girl group and they also dropped 2 incredible albums last year, but i really loved this one! every time they drop a comeback they do something different and this was definitely different for them but in the best way possible. cunty. love it. 10/10

the book 3 by yoasobi (2023) - my love for yoasobi will never die. idol for anime opening of the year and yoasobi for jpop act of all time. the rest of the album is phenomenal (i mean come on it’s yoasobi) but like. idol. brain chemistry. i’m a different person now,

rush by måneskin (2023) - i listened to this album so much actually bc i think it’s fun. there’s a couple songs on there that make me wanna dance so much it’s unreal

hi hi!! i’ve been a bit busy with year end tests/finishing up highschool so i’ve been lurking without saying hi TT and i do agree that their other title tracks are a lot, i got into kpop bc of them and i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t hard for me to get into. i also kind of didn’t expect you to be into them because based off atz music is ALOT more different from zb1 or svt music but i’m glad you like them!! i love love dune when i first heard it because of how amazing his vocals are, i’m such a sucker for high notes in songs so when i heard it i just fell in love straight away!! halazia is amazing too!! i really do love yeosang’s voice in the pre chorus, and i love love minnie’s tone in every idle song really. it’s so unique!! nowadays im just glad they’re finally utilizing yeosang’s voice seeing as they never really did give him lines before.

cyberpunk and take me home are two of my top favs of theirs!! and also i realized that everytime i send an ask they always get so so long,,, im sorry for bothering you sksksk 😭😭😭

but yes!!! ateez music is v different than svt and zb1, and i will admit i stayed away from them bc of it. there’s a specific style in bg music that turns me off from a lot of groups and bc of it i stayed from ateez. but!! i’ve always found the members funny n cute, thought hongjoong and mingi were cool lol and i’d been wanting an excuse to get into them!!

i am such a vocal girlie!!!! i love vocals sm, one way to get me into a group is through their vocals. it’s how i got into zb1; i adored matthew and taerae’s vocals!! i don’t know about the vocals of the other members in the group besides jongho, so i definitely need to look into their other songs and will check both of those out!!! i see cyberpunk mentioned a lot amongst atiny kekeke

Yesss i really love all their alligator performances. Jooheon’s “hello! I’m an alli alligator” lives rent free in my brain lol

And shownu chopping wood is so iconic! Honestly those are all great moments! I would recommend checking out Monsta X ray. There’s an episode where they visit a zoo and it’s so cute!

I was supposed to see Monsta X but then they cancelled my stop due to covid in 2021 😞 so I totally get it! Hopefully one day we can both get the chance to see them!

I am SO jealous you got to see Wonho! He’s such a beautiful person, I can’t even imagine seeing that in person! What was your favorite performance that night?

I actually like a ton of groups! Stray Kids, Onlyoneof, Shinee, Astro, and Ateez are some faves. I also really love VIXX - Leo’s my bias and I love his solo work/VIXX LR stuff! I’m also really into girl groups like WJSN, Loona, Lovelyz, Girls’ Generation etc. honestly it’s harder for me to find something I don’t like than like lol

I do want to see monsta X ray. I guess that I've been putting it off because it hurts to see wonho in there, knowing he's not in the group anymore.

But yeah. 🥂 Here's to us seeing them performing live one day. In the front row. VIP tickets. I'm manifesting that for us!

Wonho's concert was amazing. At first I couldn't believe it, but when he sang With you, I totally lost it. I love the song because he says 2 lines in Spanish (my mother tongue) and because it's sexy af (just like him hehe)

If you go through my blog you will know I like all the groups you mention. Also I try to support less famous groups, I think they all deserve recognition cause they work so hard and I believe that all groups should win an award during their careers. 

For some reason I've always preferred BG to GG. But I do love purple kiss, dreamcatcher and Pixy 

Anyways I am rambling.

My favourite Wonho video is eye on you. I love it so much. It's dark, and there's wolves and the choreo is chef's kiss. I just prefer him with dark hair. And that performance he does when he covers his eyes at the end just… drives me insane. When he sang that In the concert I almost died of happiness

As from Mx, alligator. They all look amazing in leather, and there's water and I love wonho's iconic look.
