🫣🍑Private Dancer🍑🫣
Or: You discover another half to the secret you thought you were keeping
Fontaine x blackfemreader
Warnings: MINORS DNI, cursing, use of the n-word, mentions of smoking/weed, P-in-V, mentions of insecurity, long fic
Truth was, you were a secret shaker.
A tentative twerker. An apprehensive ass-thrower. Your waist whined when being perceived directly and not in a good way. Not only did you decline to throw ass in public, you will also turn away any offers to catch it.
When you were alone, though...
You learned chorography to your favorite sounds, bounced around your living room as you folded clothes. Recorded dance challenges and deleted them a few hours later. You were your very own Stallion behind closed doors.
It took only a handful of awkward encounters and an asshole ex-boyfriend suggesting you 'stand to the side' for you to be determined to find your rhythm.
Looking up tips online and went to any beginner's classes you could find in the area. Ballroom, salsa, the pole--it all helped you understand your body outside of what it looked like. It was about what you trained it to do, what you wanted it to do.
Investing in a really good floor length mirror was the last puzzle piece you needed to really find your beat. From there on, you and the mirror were lovers.
Only your small circle of friends knew. That was thanks to enough years of trust and tequila, leading to wild nights at house parties with the radio cranked high.
You eventually learned that it was nothing to be ashamed of. It's not like it kept you away from fun or being included in the antics. If you went out with the ladies, you hyped them and kept a cute lil' two step. You held the title of Camerawoman with pride and your background cackles were famous in the group chat.
The booty wouldn't boogie with anyone else around and it's been that way for years.
It was your own little secret. No one had to know everything and you babbled enough as it was. If anyone cared to stare hard enough to a deserted, dark corner of the house--then maybe they could catch a glimpse.
The sway-snap of your hips, falling beautifully with every beat that you heard. How your hair gleamed, the way your smile swelled with the change of the songs.
Your entire body sang a song.
At least, that's what Fontaine thought when he first spotted you.
Of course you never knew he saw you. Even after the reciprocated confessions and hot-n-heavy honeymoon phase, you thought you went unseen.
Fontaine took your secret for his own, delighting in your shadow shows on the rare occasions you came out to play.
Fontaine could wait and if you had to feel alone to feel secure, then so be it. He used his admiration and desire to touch you, to be a proper witness.
Just being near you was more then enough, it would have been ungrateful to be so greedy.
------
You screamed when you saw him standing there.
The earbuds went off into the wilds of the kitchen, one skittering beneath the fridge.
Fontaine's eyes were popped wide but didn't seem remorseful for scaring your soul to the heavens.
"I thought you heard me when I came in." Fontaine hung up his keys before going in search of your earbuds. You watched after him, mortified.
You were just really into organizing the lower pantry. Lost in shaking your ass with one hand braced on the red potatoes and the other searching for the brown potatoes to put them back in their proper spot.
When you turned to grab the few 'taters that eacaped, you saw your man standing a few feet away from you with his arms crossed and head tilted.
How long has he been here?
Oh god, you have never danced for him. You have never danced in front of him--you weren't even serious. There wasn't a problem with you shimmying to the beat in his lap at a function or waving from your hips up while riding in the car to some jams.
This was different.
"Hey, hey--whatcha curling up for? C'mon now, I already know you can move."
"It-- that, um, I-I'm not that good, so, y'know..."
Fontaine pocketed your traumatized earbuds and kissed your hands until you inched them away enough for him to see your worried gaze. He tutted quietly, taking your hands into his and kissing your knuckles.
"What matters to me is what makes you feel good, baby." His voice rolled into a purr as he continued, "Lucky me that you look so fine when you do."
You wriggled as your shyness battled against the excitement of having Fontaine looking at you the way he was.
"So I don't look.... awkward? Do I have enough stuff to make it look good?"
"Wasn't nothing awkward 'bout how you were throwin' that, trust me."
Fontaine's hands went down and grabbed two handfuls of your ass. His palms were warm and wide as he kneaded, bringing you even closer to him as you went to your tiptoes. He hooked his chin over your shoulder with a happy little hum, distracted by you but only for only a moment more.
"Hold up, whatchu mean by 'enough stuff' ?"
You shrugged and decided not to answer. The truth of past insecurities felt redundant and you rather liked the way Fontaine was making you feel at the moment.
Fontaine grunted, giving you another squeeze before pulling back a bit to look into you square in the eyes.
"Look here-- I'm in love with all this right here, so I'm rockin' with you regardless of what you can make it do. Don't matter if you think you ain't got enough, shit, it's enough fo', me. Understand?"
His words worked out the few kinks in your heart, aches you grown used to and ignored when they flared. You nodded more confidently and only then did Fontaine lighten his hold on you, nodding back.
No telling how long Fontaine was standing there and if you never turned around-- you would have been none the wiser. How many times has he been there? Letting you have yourself, taking only a moment for himself as he had that smile on his face.
It was the same smile he had when he took away the shea butter to rub you down himself. Or similar to the smirk on his face when following after you to the bedroom after you talked a bit too much shit.
Your shoulders dropped as you fully relaxed into his hold. The burning embarrassment in your stomach churned into smooth, seamless and leaving you suddenly eager.
"So, tell me what a nigga gotta do to get a private dance from yo' pretty self?"
His hands helped themselves to another handful, this time spreading to touch between your legs. There was promise in his eyes and you knew you only needed to say yes.
You twist away from him enough to pluck your phone from the counter, sliding through a few songs before settling on something with drums and bass. The speakers pulsed and you began backing Fontaine out of the kitchen and into the living room.
He let you push him to sit in the recliner and he made an appreciative sound at the way you leaned in, pressing a kiss to his lips. It evolved, going deeper until you pulled away with a protesting noise from Fontaine.
"That's the only touching you gonna get from me right now."
"Oh, word?"
"You're going to distract me enough as it is." You said, stepping away from him and stretching your arms over your head.
"Bold as hell to call me a distraction." Fontaine's brows rose as he leaned back to make himself comfortable, "Lookin' at me with them eyes..."
His eyes hooked onto your hips. You stretched, teasingly bending over and holding onto your ankles as you gave a cute lil' shake, looking over your shoulder coyly .
"What can I use to look if it ain't my eyes?" You asked, "How am I supposed to see you?"
"Don't worry 'bout what you see back here, act like a nigga ain't even here."
"Oh, that's impossible now. You still make me feel so shy..."
Fontaine snorted and your gave a giddy smile in return.
What you wore was actually perfect. Tiny shorts and cami, perfect for when you were bounding around to clean house. Just what you needed for you to do a little Bend n' Snap for your man.
The music changed and you looked over at him in surprise, he held your phone but watched you with a mischief. Reaching for the little, polka dotted stash jar you left on the coffee table to pull out a blunt to wag at you.
"Go on, show me what you got fo' me."
Waiting until he fired up, you sauntered closer and tied up the front of your already teeny tank. Fontaine's eyes honed in to your nipples, distracted as he took a drag. When his fingers crooked, you leaned in enough and pursed your lips.
Fontaine blew a strong stream that you breathed in and held. You held as long as you could before releasing the smoke a final time into the air.
Fontaine's blunts were no-nonsense, where he still rolled with leaves rather than the papers you preferred. It felt like a straight shot to the head, the smoke lifting all the chatter in your mind to leave you swirling in electric eagerness.
Without further ado, you showed him what you could do.
Your hands braced on your knees, clasped above your head, went down to touch your toes. You rolled your stomach and snapped your hips mouthing the words to Fontaine as you fully felt yourself. You extended your arms and tried to be as dramatically sexy as possible. Touching all of Fontaine's favorite places yourself, pushing up your breast and skimming your hand between your legs for him to see.
Fontaine was a chaotic DJ as he flipped through your playlist. He went from instrumentals filled with nothing but baselines and adlibs, to Glorilla to Megan Thee Stallion to Trina. Whistling at every peek of cheek and nip, calling out to see the 'pretty lady' when you coyly fanned your legs at him from the floor.
When you got down on your hands and knees, you felt a smack against your cheeks hard enough to snap your illusion. You leaned onto your forearms, ass up in the air, and broke into laughter as more bills rained down. It was like a confetti canon was let off or someone hit the Golden Button for you.
"That felt personal." You said over your shoulder at where Fontaine sent another fan of bills into the air, "You tryin' to tell me something?"
"Yeah--to bring that ass over here so I can get my hands on you," Fontaine patted his thigh, "Thought this was gonna be a lap dance..."
"Private does not mean lap." You sniffed. Honestly, you weren't sure because you've never been to a strip club but with the way he was throwing bills--the living room was cosplaying as a VIP section at King of Diamonds.
You took your time in coming closer, wondering if you could skip on singles before Fontaine snatched you right up when you were close enough.
"This is too much! When did you even have time to take out all these damn dollars?"
"I been waiting on this, baby. Shit, I woulda threw gold if it ain't' hurt..."
You laughed and looked around at the singles carpeting your floor in disbelief, it's like you had a new rug installed! There were dollars all overt the coffee table and even some fluttered over to coat the entertainment center. Was there a dollar up in the light fixture? Was that a fire hazard?
Fontaine's teeth nipped at your earlobe, turning your next remark into soft moan. His hand ran up to cup your neck, breathing you in with a hungry hum.
His voice was all smoke and honey, "This is all well an' good, but I think I'm feeling a certain type of way..."
"Is it the horny way?"
Your cheekiness got you mean little pinch to your sensitive nipples. Jolting only pushed you closer to his greedy hands. It was his turn to touch. He plucked and twisted your nipples, making you mewl and melt into his touch. You ground down into his lap where you felt he needed you most, making him sigh into your ear.
"Gonna be the death of me, ain't ya?" Fontaine husked, "Here lies 'Taine, bust so hard he went on to glory. He leaves everything to his pretty-booty havin' lady."
"What if I promise to shake somethin' on your grave, would that be better--no biting!"
Fontaine growled something into the mouthful of shoulder he had, shaking his head gently and making you squeal and scrunch up to try and escape.
Still warm from being in the spotlight of Fontaine's attention and the pulsing music, your head swam with delight. It felt like victory. You turned and kissed at the side of his face before your lips met.
Allowing yourself to be admired and seen was like nothing else. Fontaine has always shown nothing but devotion to you but you still felt like he was...just being nice. You were holding yourself back from assumed disappointment but this whole time he's been waiting on you.
Talk about blocking your blessings...
When your grinding became more insistent, Fontaine leaned back with his lip caught between his teeth.
"That's what I'm talkin' about. Show me how you feel."
You looked over you shoulder, holding his hands against your breast as you rode in his lap. Fontaine hissed, one of his hands quickly escaped to clasp around your hips to grind up into you.
Leaning forward enough on your hands, your delicates went directly in his face as you tugged at his pant leg pointedly. Fontaine ignored your impatience and ran a hand over you, from between your shoulders down to the backs of your thighs.
You could hear him popping the button on his jeans and the rattle of his belt.
"How bad you want it, pretty?"
"Bad, real bad."
"'Do anything fo' it' bad?"
" 'Let you do anything to me' bad."
It happened fast after that, Fontaine righted you in his lap enough for him to press into your pussy. The stretch dropped your mouth open and Fontaine groaned at how wet you already were.
LOW started and you bounced to the beat, grinning dopily up at the ceiling at the feel of him hitting all your good spots. Your shorts provided a wonderful friction against your clit from how Fontaine shoved the fabric aside to let himself in.
It felt so naughty. To fuck on Fontaine like you were starved for him to the music rattling your walls. The thrill twisted with desire in your stomach, hurtling you faster and faster to your peek.
Suddenly more bills rained down and paired with Fontaine's laugh, more lust than amusement--it pushed you over the edge.
"That's it, I feel you, g'on and get yo' shit. Can't believe yo' pretty ass was shy..."
Fontaine took over. A bruising grip onto your hips, tipped you back into his chest as he thrust up into you in earnest.
"Puttin' that shit on me heavy, acting like you don't know what you do to me." Fontaine found a few singles that were being crumpled between you and pressed them to your dewy, lower back.
"Shieet, looks better than money. Wish you can see as much as yo' ass feel it, fuck." He gave your ass slap, you called out as you came. It felt like fire shot through you, leaving you reaching for any bit of him to clutch.
Between the music still going and Fontaine handling you so well, the sensations left you gasping. Legs burning and head filled with needy thoughts, you protested when Fontaine stopped your bouncing and maneuvered you until he slid free.
"Oh, show ain't over yet--you feel me?"
You did. Fontaine was heavy and hot where he tapped all over your ass, leaving kisses of wet spots. It filled you with a flash of pride or maybe even possessiveness. Craining your neck, you did you best to get a glimpse but Fontaine hand cupped your neck licked the shell of your ear.
"Yeah, that's you gettin' all over me. Tryna make me messy just how you like it, huh?"
He hissed when you writhed in his lap, ghost riding his dick until he gave you a little push to stand. Your mouth dropped open to whine but Fontaine turned you towards the middle of the room.
"Show me how you want it."
Fontaine held himself tight at the base, his lips lax enough for his gold to wink in the lamp light.
As gracefully as you could--you went down onto your knees before lying back to put your legs in the air. You rolled over in the blanket of dollars, wriggling down your shorts to one ankle until you could flick them away.
Fontaine grinned down at you, kneeling to slot his palm into the arch of your foot, his other hand stroking himself.
He hooked one of your legs over his shoulder, eyes fixed to where his dick bumped against your mound.
"Prettiest thing touchin' soil and you think it ain't enough..."
Fontaine moved your other thigh to the side around his hip, leaving you spread completely. You were still working, still giving him a show, but you couldn't bear to keep your hands off of him.
When you hand ran under his shirt, Fontaine tugged it over his head swiftly and much to your delight. The sight of his broad chest and delicious skin made you all the more impatient.
"Hurry up, Mr. Lapdance--the show ends when the music does."
Fontaine's eyes flashed.
"You lucky we ain't meet like that. D'you wanna know what I would do if you showed out like that on a pole?
The image formed in your mind was electric. Pretending to be a little Stallion and running into a hungry handed, greedy eyed Fontaine in low strobe lights.
Not knowing just what he had in store for you as you led him to the privacy booths--intent on earning his attention.
When you licked your lips, Fontaine groaned softly, you smiled at him.
What's another little secret?
"I did take a few classes, if you ever wanna see ahn--!"
Pressing into your heat, Fontaine grumbled something about Home Depot.
"Shouldn't have told me that, now I gotta put a stage in here somewhere in this bitch..."
Drunk on pleasure, you could only cry out as Fontaine chased his thoughts out loud. The change in position, with him looming above you muttering filthy promises--it was too much for you.
"O-Oh fuck, 'Taine!"
He froze to watch your eyes roll close as you shook apart beneath him with a sob. Fontaine lowered himself to bracket you between his forearms to kiss you, swallowing your moans. His hips snapped, lost rhythm and then he was coming with satisfied growl.
That was it. You were dead. Your very soul leaked onto his thighs and the carpet below.
'Here lies me, twerked too close to the sun...'
Fontaine releases a heavy, satisfied hum into your ear as he finally collapsed onto you. It should have been stifling and your knew your legs would be useless for the next while, but all you could do was grin at the feel of the dollar bill stuck to his shoulder.
What a way to go....
------
When the playlist finally ended, the silence found you both covered in sweat and dollar bills. Fontaine rubbed a loc of your hair between his fingers and you rested your eyes--head on his shoulder. Your hand wandering aimlessly across his chest as you began to doze.
He tugged gently to get your attention, "Want you to do me a favor."
"Mn. If it involves moving, you gotta pay me."
Fontaine snorted and flicked away the bill stuck to the thigh you've strewn across him. You shrugged a shoulder with a lifted brow, you got me there.
He continued, "If you can help it...I'd like for you not to hide from me anymore."
The change in his tone had you searching for his gaze and of course it was already on you. Fontaine took your hand in his, turning yours until he held it in his open palm.
"I...okay. I can do that for you."
You weren't ready to talk about the past and trying to make sense of your complicated feelings of being perceived. Something told you that it wasn't the time, maybe it was you hiding again, but at least Fontaine took your words earnestly.
He kissed your hand once, twice before leaning his head back and closing his eyes as he went back to playing with your locs.
"Good..and no more watchin' Baddies. Watching them girls fucks wit' your disposition," Fontaine reached for a handful of bills to sprinkle all over you, "You wanna be a Stallion? Lemme know and I'll give you a ride."
"Oouf you are terrible." You hid your face into his neck, "But once my legs come back online, you're in trouble."
Fontaine patted your ass, "Can't threaten me with good troubles, baby."

Hiiii
I don't know how to make the two love interest meet. I don't know if you understand without it actually being awkward or flat
Meet-Cute Ideas
Before I dive into meet-cute examples, let's look at some general tips for meet-cutes:
Four Different Kinds of Meet-Cutes
Pull/Pull Meet-Cutes where the two characters are instantly drawn toward one another.
Push/Push Meet-Cutes where they are opposites that push away from each other at first.
Push/Pull Meet-Cutes where one character falls for someone with no reciprocal interest (at first).
Neutral/Nervous Meet-Cutes where neutrality and nervousness create a cute scenario for characters destined to fall in love.
How to Avoid Cliche Meet-Cutes!
Subvert audience expectations by making them believe a cliche meet-cute is coming, and then adding a creative twist to make yours stand apart.
Place meet-cutes in unique locations.
Put characters in different scenarios and situations.
Meet Cute Ideas
A is in the waiting room of a hospital while their grandmother goes through a routine procedure. B walks in and sits across from A, head in hands, obviously distraught — “I lost the baby,” B whispers.
You accidentally sprayed them with yogurt when you opened the lid the wrong way.
Studying at the same table in the library, you see they are pulling the same study resources as you.
They mistook your bowling ball for theirs in the shared ball return.
They caught you when you slipped on ice and nearly fell over.
Accidentally stepping on their heel in a crowded room.
You both do the side-to-side dance when you try to pass them in the grocery store aisle.
Humming a song and having them begin to hum with you without thinking.
Tripping while getting into your seat in the theater and spilling your popcorn on them.
You matched with them in an online chat roulette room.
Both of you wore the same ugly Christmas sweater to a party.
A likes to visit the local humane society to say hello to the animals. On this particularly normal day, something especially abnormal happens — one of the dogs speaks. “Help me get out of here, will ya?”
A finds a book of magic in their grandparents attic. A takes it to a Wiccan shop and hesitantly asks B, the shopkeeper, to take a look at it. B takes one look at it and in hushed tones asks, “Where did you get this?”
They cover the small amount of change you are short on for a purchase.
You both go to the counter, having the same type of coffee called for pick-up.
A is walking down the street and notices B, who is staring at a large graffiti mural, tears streaming silently down their face. The mural reads, “you are alive.”
They pull you out of the way from the busy bike path.
They see your ice cream drop to the ground and buy you a new one.
You see your favorite book on their desk during class and ask them about it afterwards.
You walk out of a dressing room asking if the outfit suits you, but it's not your friend waiting outside the room like you thought.
Almost spilling a drink because you met their eyes and got distracted thinking how cute they are.
Getting paired up in a line dance.
Happening to sit next to each other on a park bench, reading the same book.
Being paired up at a beginners ballroom dancing class.
Sharing an umbrella at a bus stop as it snows.
They get your attention and return your phone that fell out of your pocket.
You help catch their dog when the leash slips from their hand.
They ask you to pretend to be their date at a bar to prevent an ex from talking to them.
You help pull a loose thread off the back of their shirt.
Meeting their gaze after throwing a coin in a wishing fountain.
Sitting next to each other at a very boring meeting and bonding over your shared lack of attention.
You wear matching masks at a masquerade party.
Holding the elevator for them and getting off on the same floor.
Bumping into each other while trying to pass through a doorway.
They jump into your car breathless and tell you to keep driving.
You throw a snowball at a friend but miss and hit them instead.
The two of you wear costumes from the same fandom at a costume party.
You help a lost child find their parent together.
Walking into the incorrect bathroom and meeting eyes with them before quickly realizing the mistake.
You help catch their hat as it flies away in the wind.
The person sitting next to you on the train is wearing clothes that match your lucky colors from your fortune that morning in the paper.
They knock on your apartment door instead of your neighbor's.
You both reach for the last umbrella in the store on a rainy day.
You fix your hair in the reflection of a window to see them smiling at you through it.
You get scared by them in a corn maze and lash out and hit them, quickly followed by apologizes.
A spots B writhing on the ground in pain and rushes over to help them — but it turns out that B was actually just filming for a prank video. A gets so mad and upset that B is forced to calm them down as a crowd is beginning to form around them.
Texting the incorrect number but continuing the conversation.
A stops at the pub near their house to pick up some food on the way home (they make the best fries in the neighbourhood) when A receives a phone call – and some terrible news. A starts crying and B, the bartender, asks A what’s wrong. As A opens up to them, B gives A a drink on the house, and helps talk them through it.
You both reach for the final donut in the case at a bakery.
Getting paired up on an amusement park that requires even numbered riders.

Libraries and Adult Lonliness
As we all know, making friends as adults is hard. And while the internet has made it easier to make friends with people around the world, actually meeting people you can meet with on a regular basis and just hang out with us tough. The common answer to meeting new people is to find people who are interested in the same stuff as you. As such, finding places to meet new people who may have similar interests to you is important. And that’s why I think the library is a great resource!
As a children’s librarian, one of the things I try to point out to parents when they come in to sign their kids up for the library is that we offer adult programs too. Obviously we have book clubs - my library has 4 different book clubs for people who read different types of books. I’ve posted about it before with knitting/crochet circles. But for people who have or want to explore different interests, and meet new people via that new interest, you may want to check your local library to see their programming. For example:
Hiking: Many libraries offer things like hiking kits. These can be things such as maps for local trails, hiking sticks, a water resistant backpack, binoculars, bird guides, and the like. But some libraries having hiking clubs, such as the Poughkeepsie Public Library Distruct in NY.
Tumblr media
Language Learning: Many libraries have access to language learning platforms such as Rosetta Stone or Mango Languages. But many other have dedicated classes where adults can come and learn languages. If you’re in L.A. county, the public library offers classes in beginner Russian, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Armenian, etc!
Music: there are many libraries that have maker spaces where you can go and record music. There’s one in the Newark Library and at a branch of the Brooklyn library. There are also ones that allow you to check out instruments. But there are also ones where you can receive free music lessons, such as the Dallas Public Library (this program was online during the pandemic but is now also offered in person!)
youtube
I could keep going.
Singing, dancing, theater, yoga, sketch comedy, creative writing, RC Cars, foraging, cemetery tour groups, jewelry making, baking, woodworking, painting, etc. If you have a niche interest or would like to get into a niche interest, there is a chance your library has had or will have a program about it. And if you’re looking to meet new people, it is a great place to start.

How to start ballet when you're in your late teens and 20s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey everyone, I started ballet at the age of 22 so I wanted to make a how to start ballet post for people who didn't start doing ballet when they're younger.
My story: I wanted to do ballet since I was a child and had a poor upbringing so any social activity that required constant money was out of consideration. My passion for ballet ignited when I started watching ballet shows regularly and I wanted to try it. I first started on Ballet for Absolute Beginner series by Ballet Misfit and I did ballet with the help of it for 6 months. Then I graduated from college and got into a real ballet class for adult beginners after finding a job and getting my financial freedom. So I have been doing ballet for 2 years now consistently.
What to expect:
Passion and determination: you're an adult beginner in a dance that requires perfectionism. You'll feel like a duck during the first months, even the the first year until you get the hang of it. You need to enjoy the process and love doing ballet to survive the first months. Ballet is not a gate for slimming down or looking aesthetic ™ it's a near God damn sport and you need patience to get better at it.
Slow progress of flexibility: you're going to get flexible in time but you'll probably won't be able to do splits or an attitude in a month if you haven't been able to do them before. Flexibility is a slow process and it requires consistent effort. If you force yourself to get flexible immediately during the first months you'll sprain yourself and your progress will be even slower.
Muscle gains: doing ballet makes you gain serious muscles and you need to gain serious muscles to do ballet. You'll need core strength for that balances and calf strength for relevés. I recommend consistent practice targeting the leg and core muscles to be able to hold the balances longer.
Vocabulary: First thing first, you'll need to learn the names of the poses because it's a universal language in ballet. It's French and it's chic but learning the names of the poses is not that hard. You'll get the hang of it by time.
Online learning: Ballet Beginner series by Ballet Misfit is great to begin if you just like doing ballet don't have any ambitions to be dancer, be on Pointe or do the turns. However, it has some cons because you're most likely learn the poses wrong because there's no ballet teacher to fix your stance.
Finding a class: it's better tho find a class if you have the ambition to learn ballet. The most important thing is your teacher. You do not want a perfectionist Russian Ballet teacher when you're an adult learner. You'll need someone who is kind and patient. Also finding a class that is near you is a huge con.
Proper gear: it's everywhere and it's expensive. You can do ballet with usual tights and socks or proper Ballet clothes. The difference is that having proper Ballet shoes etc will give you more motivation to continue. The con is that it's expensive.
Caution: I am reminding again, Ballet is not an inherently pro-*na dance it's a damn near sport and an amazing dance form. Get your treatments if you have any Ed history.
Consistent practice: as always, practice makes perfect. Make sure to practice what you've learned in the class at home if you have time.
So this is all there's to expect as a adult ballet beginner. You can add anything if you're a pro or you have came across something else, I'm open to feedback.
Make sure to enjoy the process and don't hurt yourself. Have fun 💕🩰

Ballet as an adult beginner - first 6 months
I'm 22 and I signed up for an adult beginner ballet class in September 2023. It is now February 2024 and I have Things To Say.
My background
I've played Just Dance. That's the full amount of my dancing experience. Nor do I have any natural talent. My idea of dancing is jumping in place while throwing my arms around. If I can do ballet, you can too.
My experience
I take beginner adult lessons at a dance studio (no drop-in classes).
After the first lesson, I didn't want to sign up. We did what I can now recognize as extremely extremely EXTREMELY basic barre exercises, floor barre and arm movements. They are the building blocks of ballet and a precursor to everything else, but as an absolute beginner you don't know that and it can feel very boring & underwhelming.
But I realized: the worst that can happen if I sign up is being bored 2 times a week + some muscle gain and an improved posture. I decided to commit to one trimester and reevaluate after Christmas.
GOSH I'M SO GLAD I DID.
At the beginning, it's boring. It's ok. It's normal. Just keep going! In just a couple of lessons, the difficulty level increased and everything started to make sense too.
Our teacher is great. Those first simple exercises slowly built up our strength and coordination and each class became a little bit more challenging, a little more rewarding.
Soon, I found myself smiling broadly every time I walked home after a lesson. I became excited about every little improvement. I realized that I could do it, and more easily than I would have ever expected. Most importantly, I realized that I had always secretly wished to dance but I had never acknowledged it to myself.
And I'm very glad I've finally started.
Class structure
I do 2 1-hour classes a week. We start every lesson with barre exercises ie moving one leg and arm at a time while the other foot stands firmly on the ground and the other hand is on the barre to help with balance (at first, you will probably start with both hands gripping the barre).
Then we might do centre or diagonal exercises or both if there is enough time.
Centre is basically the barre exercises, but without any barre to lean on. You might think you've mastered an exercise at the barre, then get thrown in the centre and find yourself completely out of your depth again. That's ok, it's normal and you will get better. We also do jumps and various pas/ways to walk towards left/right.
Diagonal exercises is walking in diagonal from one corner of the room to another, but you are going to walk in weird ways. So far we've done things like pas de polonaise and preparation exercises for pirouettes.
During the first few lessons, we only did barre and floor barre, so don't worry about centre and diagonal just yet.
Before enrolling I had this idea that we'd do the same exercises over and over again for hours, with no breaks. But it's not like that. There is a "routine" at the barre that we do every lesson, yes, but every exercise is repeated only 1 time per lesson (per leg). That still allows you to improve quite quickly. You'll be amazed at your progress from just one week to the next.
Also, at first, the classes were very light but now they are a full-on workout so don't be deceived.
Other stuff to know
Can I learn ballet on my own? I don't recommend it, especially if you are a complete newbie like me. There are so many things I do wrong that I never even notice until my teacher points them out to me, again and again. If you don't know what you are doing you'll end up in weird positions that will just make the exercises harder + possibly injure yourself. A good teacher is also going to tailor the lesson plan to your needs and goals. If you can, go to live lessons, either in person or online.
What should I wear? Every school has its own rules but they shouldn't be too strict. I simply throw on some leggings, a tight-ish t-shirt and a zipped-up hoodie. It's important that the clothes more or less adhere to your body, so your teacher will be able to correct your posture more easily ie no oversized t-shirts. The only thing you really need are ballet shoes and your teacher will be able to direct you to a shop. Mine cost around 25€.
Will I lose weight? Maybe. I didn't lose weight according to the scale but that's probably because the little I lost became muscle. My arms are certainly stronger and in general I feel better in my own skin.
Will I become more flexible? Yes. We do a lot of stretching exercises.
Will it improve my posture? Yes. Or at least, you'll become more aware of your posture, which is a start.
Do I need to learn the terminology? Depends on your teacher. I didn't, because my teacher is willing to explain again and again what the various French words mean. Perhaps yours will be more strict.
Am I too old/too young/too fat/ too something else to start ballet? No. In my class, I'm the youngest at 22, while the oldest student is 52. We all have different body types. Some of us had previous dancing experiences (as children) and some didn't. Most of us were absolutely inflexible at the start and are slowly improving. And frankly, if anyone gives you shit about your age or body type or skill level, that's not good people and you should get out of there ASAP.
Just go for it!

Sorry, but chan with kids is just ncjbufanob MY HEART
Okay, so I was listening to something a while back and instantly came up with the idea of chan reading to kids and just being the cutest with them. Maybe him being a volunteer at a daycare or something. Y’all remember that episode of inside seventeen about the 2021 online concert they did, right? That doremi concept with the mini doremiz. I have been watching that on repeat
Brainrot #1 - chan is great with kids
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just imagine this, you and your boyfriend chan walk into the daycare centre ready to apply because it’s a quick side job to do after college classes plus the payment isn’t too bad. While you’re signing some documents or your length contract as a volunteer you lean your head to peek at the children in the other room, but you just instantly see HIM. So fucking cute omg. Him just playing along to some kids magic trick and genuinely looking amazed by the beginner magic. I’ll just say it now but all of the kids love him, like his name is called every 5 seconds by another kid wanting him to play with them. You’re both accepted as the new volunteers and told to either observe or learn hands on how to take care of the children for the day since y’all start next week. You decide to just observe and obviously chan is doing it hands on. A couple of the children approach you and sit around you asking you all these questions. You just get so consumed conversing with the little ones that you forget to check how he’s doing with the other kids.
You look over at him and find him already looking at you. HIM LOOKING AT YOU WITH SO MUCH LOVE IN HIS EYES. So you blush and send a wave over to which he grins in response. ANYWAY, he hangs around with the kids even more and even dances with them when they want to. He looks so hyped, damn cute just vibing with them kids. He honestly is just a bigger version of a child, he’s adorable. They’re hyper, he’s hyper, at that point all the older workers are just chuckling at how well he gets along with the children even if it’s his first time meeting them. When did you get such a cute boyfriend? This job should have contained a warning that if you apply with your significant other and watch them with kids it might just be too sweet for your heart to handle!!!!
I haven’t even gotten to my favourite part which is… READING TIME!!!!!! THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT OF SO SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME RANT ABOUT IT!!! It’s nearing the evening and he decides that it’s time for reading time so when the children’s parents pick them up they’ll be tired and sleep quicker. He gathers all the children by the reading corner and picks out a classic storybook and reads it to the kids. He makes sure to add emotion into his voice and emphasise on the scary/sad parts. The type to make sound effects, like if he were reading The Three Little Pigs then he’d probably go, “so he Huffed, and Puffed, and BLEW THE HOUSE DOWN” whilst making a loud blowing sound that has the children whining on how the big bad wolf blew another house down. He made sure to interact with the little ones as he read the story, it’s like a cute interactive experience for them. The children are pretty sleepy after chan finishes his story, right on time for the parents to pick up their children. You both walk home and he totally goes on about how fun today was and how he can’t wait till next week… He’s especially excited to see how you deal with the kids, since maybe it’ll come in handy for you both in the future hehe

can y'all guess who my bias is? it's dino, duh. also yes, i am a carat and yes, i do write for kpop groups as well.. but only the ones i stan since i'm familiar with them. i hope this turned out well but tbh this is more for me to openly simp over HIM. also i feel like i should write something like this for the other doremi members... it's only fair, right <33

On my way back from my job interview, I accidentally got on the wrong bus. Luckily, the bus drove a loop, so I could just stay on to wait for it to get back to the station.
I ended up sitting next to this very pretty skinny lady, older than me but not by much, and we had an enlightening conversation in the fifteen minute ride. She complimented my shell necklace and I complimented her very nice bun. She said she was going to the ballet studio to teach.
I asked her about how dancing and teaching is, and then I mentioned that I had been debating learning for a few years, but I thought I was too old and not really limber enough. She rolled her eyes, and told me that in the adult beginner class at her studio, there is a 72 year old woman with a prosthetic leg, and if she's not too old or stiff to learn, neither am I.
She told me to just try it, to stick with it for a few months. Go on YouTube and try to follow tutorials and classes, buy cheap ballet clothes and shoes from the thrift store or online. Or just wear yoga clothes.
She said I needed to lose 20-30 lbs *she guessed my weight as 140lbs :(*. She said to stick to a good diet, follow victoria secret model diets or watch wields of models and ballerinas for inspiration.
She told me to go for runs twice a week to make my legs stronger, do yoga twice a week for flexibility and balance, and to dance 3 days per week for an hour for just 3 short months - and if I didn't think I could commit to that then I didn't have the discipline to dance ballet anyways.
I thought about this a lot after she left, and while I walked home instead of taking the bus. It was a very motivating and triggering conversation with a complete stanger. It made me realize, I spend all my time talking about my goals, but since opening this account I have done absolutely nothing to make my goals reality.
So, I'm counting this fast as my first step. Today as my first day. I think it was fate I got on that bus.

Hello! I'm technically a Czech, but due to being thoroughly anglicised (yay), I don't feel one. That aside, I really want to relearn Czech as the little I knew has whittled down to a couple of basic phrases and proverbs my grandpa peppers through. I hate to ask but do you have any resources for Czech as I've been struggling to find them? Really, really sorry!
Hello, its awesome that you want to learn czech again. I compiled some links of resources to help with czech. These are the things that i have used and have helped me. I also recomend joining language learning discord servers.
You can find many textbooks on PDF drive, and you can do exercises on czechstepbystep. Colloqiual czech is very good i think, also czech step by step and čeština express.
I lonked too youtube channels too that are pretty helpful.
This app is good for learning declensions and also has explanations of cases, there is a seperate app for plural declensions too.
and this app has declensions for pronouns and irregular declensions too.

hello im sorry if this is too personal so feel free to ignore this ask if you dont want to answer
i have always wanted to try pole dancing but dont know how to start
is it a hard sport and are the shoes necessary? they're a little scary
thank you for your time have a great day/night
∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
more pole asks hoooweee i love this
and nah its not a personal question at all!! I think its really awesome that you're interested in the sport!! It's a great deal of fun! :3
long answer and personal experiences below the cut!
The first thing I'd do is look into your local studios (googling helps). You don't need to be a professional to go to them. Think of it as signing up for yoga, you can sign up for a class (beginner to advanced/Pole 1-3 is what's offered at the studio I go to). Most places also offer tours and talk to you about what kind of lessons are available. Instructors, in my experience at least, have been professional and kind when talking to you about your goals.
If you don't have access to a studio, there are great tutorials online for free you can find on youtube. You would just need to look into the purchase of a home pole.
Like any sport it is difficult. But I find if you like it the challenges are more fun than they are frustrating. Just to note, it requires a lot of upper body strength, core strength to pull off some of the more difficult moves. But at the beginning you start off pretty slow. Grace and strength will come with time and practice.
The shoes, though sexy, are not required for the sport. Its encouraged for beginners to learn barefoot. There are heels classes to learn to dance safely in those shoes, if you work up the courage to try them down the line.
I hope this helps shed some light! Good luck on your pole journey! I'm excited for you! <3<3<3

God I am tired of mother like please just so I was clueless about my own dancing some years ago doesn't mean I am dumb and for one time if someone else joins in with me in the online class doesn't mean I slowed down. For real show some kindness to older women who are starting dance again.
For context sir told me that yesterday that today an older lady will do class with me only for today. She is as old as my mother, her son joined NIT Trichy this year. She is like a beginner now but wanted to learn dance so after sending her son off to college she has started odissi.
And my mother heard that lady's voice in the online class so when it ended she asked if someone else was there too and I told her yes, she is around your age and was sick for some time. So sir decided to merge our classes only for today and then I will continue solo with sir like usual from the next
Maa asked if she was learning the same items as me. She wasn't so I told her no she's a beginner an d she still had fever a little but she wanted to attend class today too.
And my mother ofc jad to be annoyed because I got slowed down and did not learn my item sritakamala.
Look I myself want to learn as much as I can before college starts because I will have to take a few weeks off to settle down and find places to practice before I resume
But that doesn't mean I have to consider this class as a waste. I am glad to have seen this lady in my class.
For real we need to be kind and I wish I could tell her that. Some years later how would she feel is she would be learning something with some youngsters who are advanced and better than her while she would be a beginner and those youngsters would behave and express their annoyance the same way as she did.
Fuck it man sabka pace hota hai dancer bannungi bji toh kya aise ki I would consider everyone as hindering my pace?

I already hate my highschool
Tumblr media
I'm sorry but your only method of communication is Facebook unless there is a delay or nti day. My mom only found this because the middle/elementary school reposted it which means that a lot of parents aren't going to see it. At the end of 8th grade we had to sign up for classes, BY OURSELVES. We did not take the paper home and discuss it with parents we just signed up. And there wasn't a lot but still, we are MINORS our brains are not fully developed you can't expect us to sign up for things when you don't even have good choices. The arts were: comprehension visual arts ie: drawing, painting, that kinda thing, dance but not the dance team, general band for beginners, concert band for current band people, chorus, and percussion ensemble.
OF COURSE art fills up fast, that is the least shitty option for most people which means that some of the people who actually draw for a hobby and potentially a career someday may not be able to participate. And the electives were nothing special either, I mean really, you can go down a education pathway, administration, support or e-commerce, personal finance, JROTC 1, health science, and vocational.
I have a friend that wants to be a vet, she has to take to take health science for humans. I want to do something with art, digital literacy is the only one even close. And when we went to tour the school they had so many medical classes, which yeah there is a medical, optometry, and dental (eventually) school right there but your still boxing us in. The gym was way to bright, I have NEVER wanted to get out of a near empty room as much as I did then.
The building itself is basically 2 circles, but we don't even know where the student parking lot is. And here's the thing, the middle school was just as bad with communication, i officially started in 6th grade but that was with COVID so in 7th grade when we started 4-h I was so fucking confused and never got a good answer. I ended up having an anxiety attack over the project. Google told me nothing the project counselor told me nothing, the teacher told me nothing, not even my classmates could explain it. And when my sister started it in 4th grade they sent no information to the parents and she can't be trusted to tell the full story because she skips the context needed. But get this- we have to fill out a form for the project and put our parents phone number down, again we did all of this WITHOUT a guardian
Ive already been stressed about starting 9th grade and I can't do it if the school is going to be such a bitch. Please please please send in online school recommendations, preferably before the 8th

How can I stay fit without going to a gym?
Tumblr media
Staying fit without going to a gym is entirely possible, and there are various ways to achieve and maintain your fitness goals. Here are some ideas:
Home Workouts:
Follow online workout videos or apps that offer guided workouts for various fitness levels and preferences.
Incorporate bodyweight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks into your routine.
Invest in basic workout equipment like resistance bands, dumbbells, or a stability ball for added resistance.
Outdoor Activities:
Engage in activities like running, jogging, or walking in your neighborhood or local park.
Try cycling, hiking, or trail running for a change of scenery and added cardiovascular benefits.
Participate in outdoor sports such as tennis, basketball, or soccer.
Yoga and Pilates:
Practice yoga or Pilates at home to improve flexibility, balance, and core strength.
Many online platforms offer virtual classes or tutorials for beginners to advanced practitioners.
Bodyweight Exercises:
Utilize your body weight for resistance training. Exercises like squats, lunges, burpees, and push-ups can be effective.
Create a circuit by combining different bodyweight exercises for a full-body workout.
Dance Workouts:
Join dance workout classes or follow online dance routines to make exercise more enjoyable.
Dancing is a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness and coordination.
Household Chores:
Turn daily chores into a workout by doing them more vigorously. Vacuuming, mopping, or gardening can burn calories.
Incorporate movement into your routine, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Online Challenges and Communities:
Join online fitness challenges or communities to stay motivated and accountable.
Many social media platforms have fitness groups where members share tips, workouts, and progress.
Proper Nutrition:
Maintain a balanced diet with a focus on lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Stay hydrated and monitor your portion sizes to support your fitness goals.
Consistency is Key:
Set a regular workout schedule and stick to it.
Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts as your fitness level improves.
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training):
Incorporate HIIT workouts into your routine. These short bursts of intense activity followed by rest periods are efficient for burning calories and improving cardiovascular health.
Stretching and Flexibility:
Include regular stretching exercises to improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury. Yoga, static stretches, and dynamic stretches are beneficial.
Mind-Body Activities:
Practice mindfulness through activities like meditation, tai chi, or qi gong. These can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being.
Bodyweight Cardio:
Combine bodyweight exercises with cardiovascular elements. For example, include jumping jacks, mountain climbers, or high knees in your routine to elevate your heart rate.
Active Commuting:
If possible, incorporate active commuting by walking or biking to work or using stairs instead of elevators. It's a great way to add physical activity to your daily routine.
Play Sports:
Engage in recreational sports such as badminton, volleyball, or even frisbee. Playing sports is not only fun but also an excellent way to stay active.
Interval Walking or Running:
Break up your walks or runs with intervals of increased intensity. This helps boost calorie burning and improves cardiovascular fitness.
Use Fitness Apps:
Explore fitness apps that offer a variety of workouts, challenges, and progress tracking. Many apps provide personalized plans based on your fitness level and goals.
Water Workouts:
If you have access to a pool, consider swimming or water aerobics. Water provides resistance for a full-body workout with a lower impact on joints.
Fitness Games:
Incorporate fitness video games or interactive workouts that make exercising more entertaining and engaging.
Climbing Stairs:
Stair climbing is an effective way to work your lower body and boost your cardiovascular fitness. Find a set of stairs or use a stair climber at home.
DIY Obstacle Course:
Create a simple obstacle course in your backyard or local park using cones, benches, and other available items. This adds a playful element to your workouts.
Community Classes:
Check if there are free community fitness classes offered in your area, such as outdoor yoga or group workouts in parks.
Home Sports Equipment:
Invest in equipment like a jump rope, resistance bands, or a stability ball for versatile and effective home workouts.
Remember that staying fit is not only about exercise but also about adopting a healthy lifestyle. Ensure you get enough sleep, manage stress, and stay hydrated to support overall well-being. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting a new fitness program, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.
