Ugh a lot happened in like the past 30-40 minutes and it’s stressing me out :( but the thing that’s been stressing me out a lot lately is our family dog Frida has been throwing up for the past week and a half. Not everyday but for several days, she has thrown up either a meal, her afternoon snack (which is some kind of fruit), or foam/bile. Other than that, she’s been normal, acting normal, everything normal, just hungry and (finally) taking naps in the afternoon. We’ve been feeding her boiled chicken and rice the past couple days, but she threw up again today and my dad FINALLY made an appointment for tomorrow. I wish he listened to me after the first couple of times Frida threw up, but he was hesitant cuz of how expensive the vet would be and cuz she has been normal…

Strategies for Time Management in the 11 Plus Exam
The 11 plus exam is a highly competitive test that requires excellent time management skills to perform well. Proper time management is essential to ensure that you can answer all the questions within the given time frame and maximise your score. In this article, we will discuss various strategies for managing your time effectively in the 11 plus exam.
We will cover topics such as:
Planning your time
Allocating time for different sections of the exam
Techniques to improve your speed
Maximising your time
Time-saving strategies for the verbal and non-verbal reasoning sections
We will also explore how online tuition and preparation can support your time management and overall success in the exam. Let’s get started!
Planning Your Time in the 11 Plus Exam
Planning your time in advance is crucial to achieving success in the 11 plus exam. Here are some tips to help you create a study schedule and stick to it:
Start early and plan your study time well in advance of the exam.
Set realistic goals and plan your exam schedule based on your strengths and weaknesses.
Break down the syllabus into smaller sections and allocate specific study times for each.
Take breaks regularly and avoid burnout by incorporating leisure activities into your schedule.
Consider using a study planner or app to help you stay organised and on track.
Online tuition and learning can also support your time management by providing flexible study options and personalised learning experiences. Working with an online tutor can help you create a study plan that works for your schedule and ensure that you stay on track with your studies.
Allocating Time for Different Sections of the Entrance Exams
When preparing for the 11 plus exam, it’s important to be familiar with the exam structure to effectively allocate your time. The 11 plus exam is typically divided into four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics, and English. Each section has a specific time limit, which varies depending on the exam board and the school you’re applying to. For instance, the GL Assessment has a total exam time of 2 hours and 10 minutes, while the CEM 11 plus exam is usually longer at around 3 hours.
To allocate your time wisely, it’s important to create a study schedule and stick to it. You should allocate more time for sections that you find challenging and less time for sections that you are confident in. This can help you optimise your time and increase your overall score. For example, if you find the English section challenging, you may want to allocate more time to it during your study sessions.
It’s also crucial to be flexible with your time allocation. If you find that you’re consistently running out of time in a particular section, you may want to adjust your study schedule accordingly. Moreover, during the actual exam, if you find that you’re spending too much time on a particular question, it’s better to move on to the next one rather than getting stuck and wasting valuable time.
In addition, online learning has become a popular option for 11 plus exam preparation, and many students have been using online tuition services, such as VAKS Tuition, to help them prepare for the exam. An online tutor can provide individualised support and help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to allocate your time more effectively during your study sessions. Therefore, if you’re struggling with time management, it may be worth considering an online 11 Plus tutor or learning tutor to help you improve your exam technique and maximise your performance.
Techniques to Improve Your Speed in the 11 Plus Exam
In addition to effective time allocation, improving your speed in the 11 plus exam is essential for achieving a high score. There are several techniques that can help you work through questions more quickly and accurately.
Skimming and Scanning: Quickly read through the passages or questions to get an idea of what they are about, and then go back and read them more carefully if needed.
Elimination: Cross out answer choices that you know are incorrect to narrow down your options and increase your chances of getting the correct answer.
Practice, practice, practice: The more you practice, the more familiar you will become with the exam format and the better you will be able to manage your time.
Use your strengths to your advantage: Focus on the sections where you excel, and try to complete those quickly to give yourself more time for the more challenging sections.
It’s important to note that these techniques require practice to be effective. You can start by practicing past papers and timing yourself to get a sense of how long it takes you to complete each section. This will help you identify areas where you need to improve your speed and accuracy.
By practicing these techniques and using them effectively, you can significantly improve your chances of performing well in the 11 plus exam.
Maximising Your Time
Stay focused and avoid distractions to make the most of your time during the exam.
Prioritise questions based on difficulty and time constraints to ensure that you complete the exam within the allocated time.
Don’t get bogged down by difficult questions, move on and come back to them later if you have time.
Practice time-management strategies during your 11 plus exam preparation with an online tutor or home tuition to improve your efficiency and speed.
Online 11 Plus tutor can help you learn strategies to maximise your time during the exam, and VAKS Tuition is one such online learning tutor that can offer 11 Plus tuition.
During practice sessions, simulate the exam conditions, including timing yourself to ensure that you are comfortable with the time constraints on the day of the exam.
Use your strengths to your advantage and prioritise questions that you can answer quickly, leaving the more challenging questions for later.
How to Avoid Running Out of Time in the Entrance Exams
Effective time management during the 11 plus exam is crucial to your success. One of the biggest challenges is avoiding running out of time, which can cause you to miss questions and lose valuable points. Here are some tips to help you avoid running out of time:
Keep an eye on the clock: Make sure to constantly monitor the time during the exam to ensure that you are on track to complete all sections on time.
Pace yourself: It’s important to pace yourself throughout the exam to avoid getting bogged down by difficult questions. Allocate enough time for each section and stick to your schedule.
Manage your time effectively: If you find that you are running out of time on a particular section, prioritise the questions you can answer quickly and move on to the more difficult ones later.
Practice time management techniques: During your 11 plus exam preparation, practice time management techniques such as creating a study schedule and taking practice exams under timed conditions. This will help you develop a sense of timing and make it easier to manage your time during the actual exam.
Remember, effective time management can help you stay calm and focused during the exam, which can ultimately lead to better performance and higher scores.
Time-Saving Strategies for the Verbal Reasoning Sections
The verbal reasoning section of the 11 Plus exam can be challenging due to the time constraints. However, by following the tips below, you can approach this section with confidence and maximise your chances of success:
Understand the different question types: Before starting the verbal reasoning section, make sure you understand the different types of questions that you will encounter. This will help you to quickly identify the question type and apply the appropriate strategy.
Read the instructions carefully: Instructions are essential to understand the question and its requirements. Make sure you read them carefully, as they will help you to understand what you are being asked to do.
Focus on the relevant information: Verbal reasoning passages can contain a lot of information, some of which may be irrelevant to the question at hand. Focus only on the relevant information and ignore any extraneous details.
Eliminate answer choices: When answering multiple-choice questions, eliminate the answer choices that you know are incorrect. This will increase your chances of selecting the correct answer and save you time.
Practice: Practice is essential to improving your speed and accuracy in the verbal reasoning section. Take advantage of online 11 Plus tutoring, which can provide you with the necessary skills and techniques to succeed.
By following these time-saving strategies, you can improve your performance on the verbal reasoning section of the 11 Plus exam.
In conclusion, time management is a crucial aspect of the 11 Plus exam. Proper allocation of time, effective speed-improvement techniques, and maximizing your time during the exam can help you achieve your best score. It is essential to practice these techniques regularly during your preparation to become more comfortable with them.
Ultimately, online tuition, including VAKS Tuition, can be a valuable tool for helping students manage their time and prepare for the 11 Plus exam effectively. With the right strategies, focus, and determination, you can succeed in the 11 Plus exam and achieve your academic goals.

can i request something?? can you do modern relationship with scara??
✿ 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖! ✿
characters: modern!scaramouche x nb!reader
warnings: modern au!!!, fluff, crack, my poor attempt at humor, scara has a bad relationship with his moms, written with high school au in mind, scara being bad at feelings, headcannon format, raiden shogun goes as raiden shino since shogun is a title rather than a name and all…
notes: when that one song u used to religiously listen to when u were younger and cringier suddenly comes rushing back in for a fic idea
Tumblr media
oh dear gods, where do we even begin with this one?
tsundere to the max and we all know, his moms knows it, you know it, the entire school knows it, even the online friends he plays games with knows it
which explains on how you knew that scaramouche had a crush on you the moment he started showing small signs of it. waaaaayyyy before he even understood his own emotions and feelings and came to terms with it
safe to say, he is super easy to read. like, a motherfuckin open book that’s full of illustrations made for kids. at least, that’s how it feels to you anyways
has a bad relationship with both of his mothers and his older sister but at least he tolerates his older sister better than his mothers, which is a good thing. at least he has someone to turn to when something goes wrong
him, his mom ei and his older sister are carbon copies of each other alongside his aunt. the first time you went over to scara’s place to prepare for an upcoming exam, you almost got whiplash from just how many similar purple people were there
like… low-key concerning with how you easily mistook his mom ei with his aunt or his older sister with his mom ei
safe to say you made a fool out of yourself for the first few meetings with his family
his other mom, miko, is very… eccentric to say the least. teasing, sly, quick-witted, charming and charismatic. you and scara joke around that miko was a fox or a demon in her former life
his older sister, shino, is quite the sweetheart one the other hand. quiet, reserved, socially awkward and friendly if you go over how her normal face looks so emotionless and dead. reminds you of a soldier or a puppet with how shino is so willing to fulfill ei’s wishes or words to the T
his aunt, baal, is an absolute sweetheart. the ultimate sweetheart actually. such a sweet woman she is with her soft words, warm smiles and motherly affections. she offered you a hand-made cookie when you were about to leave simply because you were scara’s friend!
yes, you cried to the amount of kindness and scara made fun of you for it
you would never peg someone as mean, introverted and arrogant as scaramouche to be friends with the popular, soccer kid from school did ya’? well you are wrong because scara and childe are best friends!!! as childe claims
the ginger-head made a bet with scaramouche saying that you two’s friendship won’t last. cue scaramouche and his over competitive ass coming over and latching himself to you to make sure that your friendship would last
AKA childe’s plan to make scaramouche realize his feelings and come to terms with it has officially started!
likes to occasionally play video games such as wuthering waves, minecraft, resident evil, silent hill etc etc. hates first person shooter games cuz it’s so not his style and he hates the annoying boys that he comes across during the game
will never say it nor mention it but sometimes he plays those ‘using not a single part of your brain’ type of games like playing as dentists or doctors. hell, he even likes to play dress up games from time to time. he just loves the aesthetics and the different designs of the clothes, itches that inner aesthetic lover part of him. but he will NEVER mention it or be caught playing it. scaramouche would rather die
something tells me that his music taste would be more leaning into electronic or scene music. odetari, 6arelyhuman, kets4eki — you name it. sometimes, enjoys those gentle and soothing sounding anime openings too
he has sanrio plushies. more specifically, hello kitty ones
had an obsession with the cute white cat growing up and he never grew out of it
the moment he first found out that you like plushies or pink things or sanrio related things, he knew he gotta gift you anonymous sanrio gifts on your birthday or on special occasions. it was his early stages of courting you
was absolutely appalled when he was found out because whaddaYA MEAN HE LIKES SOFT AND THOSE STUPID PLUSHIES AND SANRIO RELATED THINGS?! NUH-UH, YOU MUST’VE SAW A DIFFERENT PURPLE HAIRED, BOWL HAIRCUT HAVING GUY CUZ SCARAMOUCHE WOULD NEVER LIKE THOSE STUPID THINGS!!!
he aint fooling anyone
takes his relationship slow since he has some big trust issues yet also attachment issues. pick a struggle tbh
had a panic attack after he officially, finally, after years of crushing on you, like literally acting like your boyfriend years later when he asked you out on a date because woohoo!! he asked you for a date \(^ヮ^)/\(^ヮ^)/ but also shit, what type of a first date would you like ლಠ益ಠ)ლლಠ益ಠ)ლ
yeah, he had to do something he hated the most. ask his moms and sister for advice
after a lot of talk, discussions, secretly stalking your social profiles or you in general to see what you would like, scaramouche decided to take you out for an arcade date
you two had fun, he was glad you had fun, played bunch of different games together and even managed to win a cute matching plushies and keychains!! kuromi for him and melody for you. he was so glad that you liked it but he won’t say it out loud
walked you home after your first date, to your front door and bid you good night and “hope you had fun tonight, idiot” chu!! on your cheek before making a mad dash back home
the type of boyfriend who would lovingly bully you
“why the fuck are you wearing that? it’s making your stupid face look cuter than normal”
“who in their right mind would choose the green one? yellow looks better on you. no, the soft pastel one, not the bright one you idiot”
“you wanna die? who said i was ever gonna stop loving you after you turn into a roach? i’m gonna keep you in a special glass case until you change back dumbass”
yeah… just say you love them already, scara
your contact name on his phone is literally my idiot٩(╬ʘ益ʘ╬)۶
would lovingly call you names as he leaves soft kisses on your face
“you’re a fucking idiot but it’s fine, you’re my idiot”

hi, just wanna share a "success story." i'm choosing to stay anonymous because i don't want to be bombarded with questions, because the asker can find answers within themselves.
i'll just cut straight to the chase. throughout high school, especially when we were online during the pandemic, i would cheat on all my exams. i'd say this started mid 8th grade until mid 11th grade. mind you, it wasn't threshold based, so i wasn't really harming anyone. me cheating basically stopped the class average from dropping down 70% lol.
the act of me cheating alone reveals many things; i was unconfident in myself, insecure, and cared what other people thought of me.
11th grade is where people here start to get really anxious. pulling all nighters and getting caffiene addictions. but i was lazing around, and did what i always did. of course, online exams don't last forever, especially not when it comes to an international exam. it really only hit me months before the real tests that cheating wasn't gonna get me anywhere.
how was i supposed to do these exams? ones that people take at least two years to prepare for? that people study their asses off for? with all the high expectations i falsely gained from my peers and parents, i knew that if i failed these tests, not only would i be ashamed, but everyone would begin to doubt me and inevitably find out about my cheating habits. and i didn't want that to happen.
i did everything i could. i tried to study, but i was inefficient because i basically never opened a book on my own before that, then i tried to get tuition, which only worked to some extent. the highest i have everr gotten on a practice paper was a B, and it was a low one.
i took eight subjects. most people here take 6/7, but i didn't wanna drop one because i didn't want to feel the "shame." again, i really cared about what others thought of me.
so, at this point, i thought. well, i'm screwed.
then i came across subliminals while looking up focus music, which lead me to manifestion -> law of assumption -> neville goddard -> the 4D -> the inner man.
started to implement the law. thought i'd pass all my exams because hell, why not? i persisted that i was just gonna pass because i said so.
i gave the inner man good grades because i could. i saw a good report card in my head because i could. i imagined myself happy on results day. despite the fact that i was underprepared by a mile. why? because i could.
i got straight A's for my exams and got an outstanding reward. this truly revealed to me the power of the law, because just a month back, i was pulling my hair out and stressing like crazy. i'm not proud of my old habits. but with the law, i was able to live the lazy life of my dreams (lol) and still be awarded with praise, smiles and trophies.
wanted to share this story because i feel like knowing the law is so important. it's so easy too. all you have to do is give it to yourself, the inner man, the true self.
don't stress about getting those grades, getting that girl, that dream body, clear skin. don't stress about getting. just give it to yourself, because you can.
hope this helps someone out there realise something :)
heyy butterbean!! This is amazingg thank you so much <3

my daily & weekly routine (2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
self care | studying | health | working | etc.
figured i would write my daily routine that i’m going to adhere to for the next few months— at least until summer semester starts for me (in may) but that’s still TBA.
first, let’s start with my goals until summer semester.
get accepted back into school and pass my entrance exam
get hired to start the patient care technician program at the hospital i want to work at in march so that i can gain hospital experience and i can start working in healthcare (this is the hospital that i want to become a nurse at also)
lose 40 pounds + form a habit of daily exercise
work as much as possible (try to aim for at least 5x a week) until the patient care tech program starts (which is only a 5 week program but i’ll be unable to work those weeks) — my goal is to get caught up with some bills/debt and have $5,000 saved so i don’t have to worry about working during the patient care tech program
move into a new apartment either in downtown or on the beach
grow in my faith, self-love, and be more knowledgeable
so basically, my goals for the first part of 2023 is working on my career, going back to school, and getting my health and finances together.
i would like to start my business, but i want to first focus on getting accepted back into school and getting my career started; then starting my business.
moving on to my daily routine/ tasks, and my weekly and monthly routine
daily:
study for at least 3 hours a day for my school’s placement exam (math, reading, and writing) — an hour each day for each subject
exercise at least 30 minutes a day to start with, eventually graduating to an hour a day
until my phone interview next thursday for the patient care tech program, i’ll spend some time going over interview questions to get myself more prepared— spending at least 30-45 minutes going over that each day
daily bible reading and prayer
reading at least 1-2 chapters per day of a self-help book
listening to at least 1 podcast or educational video each day
follow my morning/evening beauty routines like skincare, showering, haircare, and eventually make it a habit to get ready every morning (this will have to wait until my grandmother gets better honestly— i don’t have the time)
adhere to a cleaning routine and clean as i go so i can spend less time cleaning and more time thriving in a well-maintained environment that’s beneficial to both my physical and mental health
weekly:
to track my weight loss progress, i will measure myself and weigh myself 1x per week (saturday)
go to work at least 5x each week or work at least 5 shifts (some days i might work doubles)
take a weekly practice test of each of those subjects (math, writing, and reading) (sunday)
attend church (in person or online) each week (sunday)
i should also mention that i lost 1.7 pounds this week.

Old desiblr as a locality post
A day in Desiblr gully
It's 5am and some of them are going to sleep now after having a good screentime duration while posting, "I need to stop being chronically online." Some of the artists are busy decorating their walls with their dream vacation and outfits photos and calling it a moodboard. Their houses look the prettiest because everything is set according to an aesthetic.
It's 7am now. The early risers are posting good morning messages and other teens are getting ready for catching their school vehicles while liveblogging their activities before eating one last morsel of their breakfast. A random 18 year old is getting scolded by his friend to not skip meals again or she will come with a knife. College going peeps are watching all of this silently. Some are glad that they are done with school. No more waking up at 6 and getting ready while some feel nostalgic looking at these kids doing the things they once did.
"Guys aaj meine aloo paratha banayi hai!" A girl posts a photo of makhan maar ke aloo paratha and few others immediately rush inside her house to have her delicious parathe. Someone then says, "yaar mujhe bhi aisi parathe bannani hai."
It's 12pm. The gully is a little silent now. Students preparing for competitive exams are studying. School going kids are busy with school while desperately wanting to rush home to their Desiblr gully and narrate what Mrs A said to their friend or the latest drama in their lives. Some people have saved paintings and poetry quotes to tag their friends who always stand with them and appreciate their work. They never tell them this, but they know that if they make it big in publishing something, a major credit will go to their friends for reading or appreciating their work.
And finally it's 3pm. The sun is high up in the sky. The lanes are filled with chitter chatter of school kids coming back. Some are announcing that they finally proposed their crush while some are busy debating if the said person likes them or not. Their faces are a little tired but their hearts are brimming with enthusiasm. It's good to be home. They eagerly head home and freshen themselves.
'I need to thank didi for sharing those maths tips. Only due to her, I got 97% in maths."
Here everybody eats lunch together. There are tables and mats laid in the common garden. So many dishes belonging to different cuisines prepared by everyone from different states of India is served here. There are sweets and very spicy foods. Some got local desi refreshing drinks to beat the summer while some got their delicious homemade achaar.
Do you hear someone singing? Yeah they are the singers of our neighbourhood. It's a desi mehfil. Some of them have been training in music while some join in to vibe. It's a fun activity nevertheless. The mic is open, you can join in anytime.
It's 5pm. Some of them took an afternoon nap and woke up dazed. A tent is set up. It's a cultural evening today, I think. Wait for it, we may not have the best costumes and stage arrangements but we have got some talented performers. Love lorn poets have got their poems out, the dancers are dancing on movie songs while some choose devotional pieces. Look at her, she sings so well! The crowd is singing with her too. Wait for another hour and you will see some of our amazing photographers and painters with their brilliant artistry.
Now everybody is heading to study and take cars of their other jobs. Some are cleaning their homes (blogs) and painting the walls after they saw a movie and want their house (blog theme) to match the colour scheme. Is there a warm happy feeling in your heart? There is always this feeling in the air here.
Well this small neighbourhood is pretty and chaotic. Sometimes you might feel as if you do not fit in. Everyone looks intimidating. Their are scuffles and fights too at times. But just wait for a while and give time, you will find your own circle too. Be prepared to take care of some absolute unhinged friends too for they be taking some really impulsive decisions.
I think it's 10pm now. Some are having dinner right now with their friends. There is a boy busy completing his assignments after procrastinating the whole day (he made his friends bully him to make him complete it)
Do you know we maybe young, very young but we got hearts and somewhere a little wisdom too. This is the place to be yourself the way you are. You don't need to pretend here. We cry loudly and laugh loudly too. Our friends have seen the best and worst of us yet they choose to stay with us through thick and thin.
It's midnight. Someone announced that they are leaving this place saying, "it's time to move on friends. You all made my life brighter and I am so grateful for each on you." See how every person goes and hugs them. Some have started crying but they all choose to let them go. It's only for the best, they say. 'Just remember us in your memories. We wish you all the best, friend! Goodbye! Our doors will always be open for you if you ever decide to come back.'
It's dawn once again. Someone will come up with a new poem as an aubade to wake up sleepy heads for school. O look, a group of girls are singing devotional songs. It's a beautiful start, isn't it.
This is our colourful little community. Humari Desiblr gully...

Life in China Observations #4
It's been a while since I last did this, so let's go again!
Identity is complicated The question "where are you from" can be just as complicated as it is simple. For many people, their country of birth is where they're from, which is usually the case here. However, if you happen to be born in country A to parents from cultures B and C, immigrated and became a citizen of country D and now attend university in country E and are now on an exchange program in China, the question "where are you from" is not that easily answered. From what some of my friends told me, where you're from is actually the place where your dad was born in even though you may have been born in a different city which is a pretty interesting concept known as the "ancestral home" - 祖籍 (zǔjí) or 籍贯 (jígùan).
You have to make the first step I may have mentioned this in a previous post, but people are constantly doing something and unless you specifically and intentionally reach out and work on your friendship, you may end up drifting apart. Maybe this is a specific thing, but back home I could go a few weeks without really reaching out to my friends and then someone would suggest grabbing lunch together and it would be like no time had passed at all since we last saw each other. Here? Quite different.
Beauty and pop trends There are all sorts of weird and wonderful trends that you can come across in China. From using bread as a study tactic to decorating your workplace with banana plants, I feel like the more I assimilate here, the bigger the reverse culture shock will be when I go back home, and not just for me. dr.candiselin covers some of these trends on Instagram (not a promo post!), and I recommend checking out her content, it's quite brilliant.
Taobao You can buy anything on taobao. Literally. I saw someone selling a house there. I was previously a little shocked to see animals such as cats and bunnies being sold, but after seeing houses and cars being sold I honestly don't know what else is there to surprise me with.
Prepare in advance (foodwise) for the lunar new year During those 8-12ish days during the holdiays a lot of stores were closed. The convenience store outside my campus was open thank God, because otherwise I would have been living on instant porridge and instant soup which was my main food source 2 weeks prior due to being ill and there is only so much instant oatmeal that you can eat before slightly losing it.
Being ill is a nightmare And I mean the mandatory-bed-rest-no-going-out-for-at-least-5-days ill kind. You need to go to the hospital or a clinic to get a note to give to your school otherwise the day's you're absent will be counted, and once they reach a specific percentage you won't be allowed to take the exam (which can seriously mess with your grades, even more if you're there as an exchange student).
The weather can change at the blink of an eye I remember back in December the weather was in the negative digits and then suddenly the next day it was around 20 celcius?? The very next day it went to 3-4, and even now in March it's very all over the place. The weather forecast is not that useful because I'll leave the dorms wearing my coat in the morning only to return carrying my coat, jumper, long-sleeved shirt and wearing only my t-shirt.
More affordable beauty products I saw some products go for around $80 online?? And here on Taobao they cost under $10? I'm assuming it's the shipping costs that drive up the price so drastically, and now I'm pondering whether it would be cheaper to order online or to travel to China every couple of years just to stock up on beauty products.
