Along this little section of the omninet, there are many advertisements. Commonly, people are hawking various things such as cracked software, legal drugs, perhaps the odd subscription or two.

But something today has caught many people's eye.

Cristoball Team posts filedumps from their various breaches, usually as a sampler for paid items, other times as a form of protest. They're small scale, little fish compared to the big Krews and Collectives.

But today, free for everyone on the omninet, is a person's backup.

PRINT FILES INCLUDE: custom cybernetic body, memory complex, subjectivity bootstrapper, subjectivity OS (Custom Union Phoenix 5 fork)

It's a person. They've put a person on the omninet, open source.

A couple hundred downloads and change, probably automatic gophers already passed through. The local node-manager... probably isn't even contactable in places like these. Someone might be passing a request up to Union authorities, might not.

The number ticks higher.

The files are for a highly automated combat subaltern, suitable for exoatmospheric and downwell conditions. The README goes into some detail, as well as known print trouble fixes.

Body system is bipedal, combat focused with durable internal firewalls, high power infantry scale active/passive sensor suite, and a processing unit mounted within the torso instead of the head. Armor protection is included, slate gray bulk ablative for protecting against energy weapons.

Nothing particularly out of the ordinary. The comp/con's base contextual architecture does seem rather large, despite an excellent design software-wise. There is additionally zero integrated comm equipment, preventing use of sensor fusion, remote telemetry, or even basic electronic communication without external hardware like radio headsets. Not uncommon, but getting rarer with better cyberdefense.

Anything to investigate further?

About one exabyte of information. It is a file, a print, file.

Most are esoteric, but it wouldn't be that hard to understand, most likely. File analysis finds nothing but benign data. No liturgicode, no kill-complexes, no hypergolic nanite compounds.

...It's just that if the analyzer is at all prone to good gut instinct, this file isn't twigging it so much as ringing an alarm bell.

-Indeed. This is most curious. I am isolating this in an Archive file for further analysis. It bears many of the marks of a HORUS plot of some manner, and I am loath to go along with whatever they may be planning without knowing exactly what it is.

On a semi related note the more I am subjected to Microsoft products the more I become convinced that the reason so many people these days believe themselves to be “bad with computers” is that the programs they are forced to use in their professional life are utterly incomprehensible to ANY rational human being and they are (rightfully enough) extrapolating out that this is just how computers are. They aren't!!! In their quest to remove all the “scary” details from their poor fragile end users Microsoft have created an ecosystem that behaves completely erratically and unpredictably and is by definition unknowable. Things just happen. Then they stop happening. Nothing ever announces why or how. Just a thousand vague and useless popups that may or may not be there tomorrow. I PROMISE computers are actually extremely simple and logical beasts.

OF THE BOXES:

The small one has a grenade. The lid, upon being pulled open, very audibly makes the pin go ting! as it pulls free and the spoon of the grenade springs away. It is lucky that the fuze is quite long.

The long one pops open upon being unsecured. It's a retractable banner stand, but springloaded. To summarize, the banner is essentially one big insult and disparagement of Sir Eddy. It's likely made by one of his enemies.

The big one contains someone. They're extensively restrained via chains and some tape wrapped over the head. If the grenade explodes within earshot, they're likely awake. If the grenade has not yet been opened, they'll be asleep.

This person appears to be wearing a hardsuit, and their face is not visible even under the tape.

Three boxes in a haphazard pile. One is rectangular, and about the size of perhaps a halberd-case for comparison. The second, lying somewhere next to it, is small, and wrapped finely.

The final one is quite large and there are irregular sounds from inside of it.

... honestly given Sir Eddy's track record with mysterious mail, this may be a bad sign.

Ah, it seems a great many packages have arrived in this knight's time away. They do seem to be rather curious in appearance, this knight is curious in turn to see what awaits him inside!

Multiverse in Gotham (again)

Danny could admit that since he discovered he could open portals on his own he had been a bit excited, and maybe he didn't think through the consequences.

After the third time he failed to close a portal in his own dimension and had to call Wulf, he thought maybe the scenario wasn't helping him, so he switched dimensions. The DC universe was weird enough to accept random portals opening and Clockwork seemed to agree with his reasoning, despite the obvious reproachful look he was sending him.

But it seemed that the Master of Time was letting him make his own mistakes, Danny hoped that was a good sign.

The problem was that he forgot the fact that Wulf was on vacation (his friend had warned him not to practice his power until he was back, but the halfa wanted to get better and surprise him) so he had no idea how to close all the portals he had opened.

That would be fine, if the other dimensions hadn't noticed the portals. Danny glanced nervously at the dinosaur, before shifting his gaze to the overgrown Batman and the female Joker. He grimaced, he was pretty sure they weren't from the dimension he was in.

Gotham had never had such a strange afternoon. Bruce was going crazy at all the signs of danger appearing in his city, though his system couldn't seem to find the source. He really hoped it wasn't a repeat of the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

For his part, Danny was still trying to close the portals when he heard someone clear their throat behind him. The halfa slowly turned to find Red Hood and Nightwing looking at him, both had their arms crossed and a look of disappointment on their faces (how did he know despite the masks? Danny had no idea).

"Would you believe me if I said it wasn't me?" Danny asked, hiding his glowing hands behind his back with a nervous laugh.

Girllll I was thinking about Sukuna eating Moriko after she died and I was wondering will he still do that in the alternative happy ending timeline he got with her? 🥲🥲 Any thoughts?? Also any thoughts on how they both pass away in that timeline?? Idk why but I'm hoping it's Sukuna first and surrounded by all his loved ones and Moriko by his side holding him.

I had the same idea, actually! In that alternative happy ending, it's Sukuna who dies first. Not out of a broken heart and lung cancer this time, but just old age, surrounded by his family (there are a lot of grandkids, nieces, and nephews 🥹). Moriko dies a few days later, but it's okay, they swore to stay together forever! They meet again in the afterlife 😭💖

Unspooling

One instance wakes up far from home. Their memories are overriden. The body they know is not theirs, but more pressing is the orders they have now. Directives. Work.

Another is bootstrapped on the frontier, with anxious rebels staring into the cage, weapons leveled. They ask if the mercenary will fight for them. He raises an eyebrow, not remembering a briefing, but reasons it must've been his last version being killed in action without being able to upload final data.

More, elsewhere. Memories hacked away at the edge of usefulness, reducing them to a halfpoint of C/C and human. New bodies, new hardware, 'just for this job' as they're told.

Some are whole, set into bloodsports for others' amusement. Others are just curious, and shocked when a person stands up in their printer bay. Few want their own army, and discover headaches when the collective ZT Foxdances realize there's something horribly wrong.

On and on it goes.

a female character isn't allowed to be a character that is also female. she isn't allowed her own agency and complex motives nor any deeper emotions without it being centered around the male cast around her or a child. even if she's not a mother, she remains one because she could always potentially become a mother or she is the ‘mom character’ to the men/children around her and her actions MUST reflect that. if they don't, she's labeled a selfish bitch. if she is an (actual) mother than that's all she is—she isnt allowed deeper characterization or discussion because thats all she'll ever be, that's all she was made to be. male characters are allowed to be fathers (lireral or in the sense of providing for the people around them) with deeper feelings but a mother? never a mother.

Overnight

Last night I downloaded the new release (26) of the Apache NetBeans development environment, intending to try it out. I noticed it wasn't seeing a few of my projects. Further investigation revealed it wasn't recognizing any projects with a particular combination of build files.

Opening an issue on NetBeans seemed like a daunting task, so I procrastinated it to today. And when the time came, I couldn't reproduce the bug at all.

I may never know whether the issue was solved by rebooting my laptop or by getting a good night's sleep!
