The young Su Xing x Ganondorf over simplified dynamic
Tumblr media
Su Xing: Ugh. He's like oneself fr but praised and coddled for it! He doesn't understand these burdens... Just a thornless rose that man is!
Ganondorf: Hmn... He's like me fr... To be the only one who understands my plight.... To carry those same burdens takes a very respectable man....

It’s so exhausting to me how many posts around these parts boil down to, “this complex sociological phenomena isn’t caused by thing X like all you fools think, it’s actually caused by thing Y!!!!! Thing Y is very important!!!!!
Because the truth, like 90% of the time is “yes, thing Y very much IS important but the situation is actually due to thing X, Y, Z, A, B, C and likely 34 secret things we’re not even aware of yet.”
Sometimes I get so…….I don’t know the right word even, I’ll go with…….frustrated by how much people push things to fit overly simplistic, false dichotomies because it’s easier to pretend things have easily identifiable causes. But TRULY humanity is complex as hell and either/ors are in short supply and both/ands are e v e r y w h e r e.

While everyone is busy simplifying their logos, estonia is busy making everything orange.
The Tartu (Estonias second largest town) logo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new one has nothing to do with tartu. There are none of our iconic buildings referenced, not even the river that flows through it. Everything starts making a little more sense once you realize a person from Tallinn designed it.
On the topic of Tartu, Tartu smart bike logo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't use it much, so I don’t really care, but the old one looked at least a bit more interesting. Now it's just a capital T.
Kalev chocolates:

What they did do my girl Anneke is unforgivable. It simply looks ugly. Why orange? It's the hardest colour to pull off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't even the worst change (because how little orange it has) but it's still so ugly because orange and brown DO NOT go together.
At least they didn't change the ones based on Estonian mythology:

The problem with recommending Wolfsong to people is that I know the age gap is going to be a big turn off for a lot of people. I don’t really care, but I want people to understand that I don’t like it cause of that. I like it because someone’s head gets ripped off.

sometimes assholes are just assholes. Sometimes some interactions are just awkward, not "toxic." Making every unpleasant interaction about some sort of mental health issue is ableist - plenty of people have diagnoses without being assholes and plenty of people who do not have a diagnosable condition misread social cues and make people uncomfortable either by accident or on purpose.
I get it - I too am someone who sometimes sees a list of symptoms and go "wait - that's not just something EVERYONE struggles with?" or "I'm in this picture and I don't like it, damn" and try some suggestion about mitigating a certain kind of difficulty or distress that helps. Therapy speak feels very useful sometimes, for trying to understand why something shitty happens and make it stop.
But that doesn't mean I HAVE that thing, it means that it's maybe worth checking into, if it's a recurrent and significant problem - or maybe not, depending on whether having the diagnosis in my file is something that's more likely to be weaponized against me for say, immigration, security clearances, or plausibly deniable employment discrimination rather than being of any use to get me resources to help.
Think what happens when people who are suspected of being mentally ill come in contact with the criminal justice system. Think about what starting rumors about someone in a friend group about a personality disorder could do to isolate someone who's already struggling.
Think carefully, I'm just saying.
A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.
Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.
What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.
Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.
What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.
Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.
What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.
Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.
It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

a phrase that kinda bothers me when talking about women's historical roles in europe is "cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children." you hear it so often, those exact words in the same order even. and once you learn a little more you realize that the massive gaping hole in that list is fiberwork. im not an expert and have no hard numbers, but i wouldnt be surprised if fiberwork took up nearly as much time as the other three tasks combined, so it's not a trivial omission.
it's not a hot take to say that the mass amnesia about fiberwork is linked to the belittlement of women's work in geneal, but i do think there's a special kind of illusion that is cast by "cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children." you hear that and think "well i cook and clean and take care of children (or i know someone who does) and i have a sense of how much work that is" and you know of course that cooking and cleaning were more laborious before modern technology, but still, you have a ballpark estimate you think, when in fact you are drastically underestimating the work load.
i also think that this just micharacterizes the role of women's work in livelihoods? cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children are all sisyphean tasks that have to be repeated the next day. these are important, but not the whole picture. when we include all kinds of fiberwork—and other things, such as making candles or soap—women's work looks much more like manufacturing, a sphere we now associate more with men's work. i feel like women's connection to making and craftsmanship is often elided.

What accent coach is working magic behind the scenes of iwtv. A british man plays an american man with a thick new orleans accent that slowly fades to a standard american accent. Another british man plays an indian man with a french accent that morphs into a british accent. An australian man plays a french man with the strongest most unintelligible french accent youve ever heard

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

A certain little girl asked Steven Stone very nicely to keep us out of trouble, and apparently his interpretation of this innocent request was to bribe the police.
