Nate being the grumpy dad during Christmas and Parker being the happy, cheerful, Christmas filled daughter is the best combo hands down.

The snow was a beautiful clean white, the fireplace was crackling with bewitching flames, the songs were cheerful and merry, but Christmas wasn’t complete without her.
Peter gazes at Y/N, who seems to be staring intently at the window, the view being the sight of falling snowflakes and bursts of cold wind that would sway past. But, something else caught his eye. Something that was hanging on top of her—a mistletoe. That vibrant patch of green leaves decorated with dots of red that form into a perfect circle was located directly above her head. She was clever.
“Under a mistletoe?” He questions cheekily as he approaches the surprised woman.
Finally turning around, she faces her boyfriend, who had a smirk plastered on his lips. “What?”
“Why are you under a mistletoe?” He repeats.
Y/N shrugs, deciding to play along. “Oh… I’m waiting for someone.”
A look of hurt spreads across his face as he places a hand over his chest, pretending as though he had just been stabbed. “Really? Who is he? I’m insanely jealous.”
Y/N giggles at his little performance, to which he simply smiles to.
They continue to gaze out at the dark night sky, the moon glowing brightly atop of the world. It was stunning, but, something else was occupying Peter’s stream of thoughts.
“I’m glad you came,” he confesses, sincerity evident in his tone.
Y/N turns back to connect her eyes with his once more, slightly taken aback with his sudden confession. “Of course I would. Why wouldn’t I?”
Peter shrugs, letting a soft sigh escape his lips. “I don’t know, I mean, it’s Christmas eve. I was expecting you to be with your parents.”
Y/N gently grabs onto his hands, pulling him closer. “I’d rather be with you this Christmas.”
Peter smiles warmly at her gesture, appreciating her genuineness. “Me too.”
That was when they finally closed the gap and kissed each other with full of love, the mistletoe still dangling above their heads as they make this Christmas feel more special… together.

I know it’s short but this fic has been in my drafts for a while and I just wanted to share it.

How Spidey Saved Christmas by happyaspie
No Archive Warnings Apply | Rated G | Word Count 6327 | Peter Parker & Tony Stark & Santa Claus, Christmas Fluff, Christmas Magic
Summary: After rescuing a few stolen shopping bags, Spider-Man stumbles upon Santa Claus and his damaged sleigh in Central Park. With Mr. Stark’s help, Peter is able to get Santa back in the air, thus saving Christmas! In the process, he’s able to get Mr. Stark back on the nice list as well. Santa thanks Peter by inviting him to assist in delivering some gifts. Including the ones he’d saved! Together, they fly through the night, spreading holiday cheer. "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
[Exceprt Below the Cut]
It was the middle of the evening on Christmas Eve. But rather than being at home with his Aunt May or even at the tower with Mr. Stark, Peter was out on patrol. It wasn’t like he wanted to skip out on any potential festivities. It was just that crime didn’t really take holidays. If anything, it tended to get worse, which was sort of insane since it was the season of ‘giving’ not ‘stealing.’ Yet there he was, swinging through the borough with the wind in his face and the red and green Spider-Man sweater May had knitted for him pulled over his suit. He didn’t actually require it to stay warm. He had a heater built right into the suit. But there was something exceptionally festive about wearing his Chrimassy attire while out and about in the city. There was a lot to do; everything from helping out when a crosswalk lost signal to dissuading some less than ideal means of acquiring a few so-called ‘free’ gifts and ‘bonus’ funds.
He’d somehow ended up all the way in Manhattan, where he’d wrangled several angry last minute shoppers out of a toy store. In need of a break, he climbed to the edge of a snow covered rooftop and sat down on the ledge. The wind picked up, sending a shiver down his spine. He raised the heater setting in the suit and looked down to scan the city below. There was a lot of hustling and bustling as People made their way up and down the sidewalks into the stores. After several minutes of watching the crowds move along, he released a tired breath. It appeared that perhaps things had calmed down enough for everyone to go about the rest of their business without any temper tantrums or excessive use of violence. He was just about to take the opportunity to head towards home when some guy in a Santa hat decided to thwart his leisurely plans. He slinked up behind a woman, grabbed hopping bags right out of her hands, and took off running.
With a deep sigh, Peter followed after him.
“Hey!” he shouted as he hopped from his crouched position and shot a web. He caught up quickly and was soon dropping down in front of the merry thief. “You know,” he said, gesturing toward the bags. “I’m like- ninety-nine percent sure those aren’t for you.”
Santa hat guy didn’t seem to care. Instead of handing over the pilfered goods, he took off full speed down the ice slicked sidewalk.
“Oh come on!” Peter shot another web and zipped behind him. Of course, being in the air gave him the advantage. He was able to move swiftly above everyone's heads while Santa Hat Guy was forced to weave between them. Were it not for his birds-eye view and his helpful AI, he might have lost him in the huddled masses. Notably as they crossed out of the shopping district and into a more residential area.
Abruptly, Santa Hat Guy turned into a dark Alley between apartments. Peter turned too. He wiped around the corner producing a surge of momentum he could use to his advantage. As he swooped in, he outstretched his legs and aimed them right for Santa Hat Guy’s chest. The desired effect was obtained. Santa Hat Guy grunted in surprise and immediately against the wall, landing just hard enough to knock the hat off of his head.
“Dude! Those aren’t for you!” He made a swift move forward and grabbed the four large shopping totes out of the guy’s grasp. With very little thought he snagged the Santa hat as well. “And what are you? The Grinch? Why are you stealing things while wearing a Santa hat?“
Rather than answer, the Santa Hatless Grinch Guy pulled a knife out of nowhere. Peter’s spider-senses lit beneath his skin and before he knew it, he’d caught a decent sized pocket knife by the handle. He twirled it between his fingers and used his thumb to snap it closed.
“Aw, man! Are we exchanging gifts?” he asked, smiling broadly beneath his mask. “You’re so sweet! I think I’ll give you a concussion!” Before the guy could react, he lunged forward, punched the guy in the face and webbed him securely to the wall.
“I hope you like it!” he said as he dusted his hands together and regathered the stolen bags onto one arm. If he wanted to be able to track down the owner, he absolutely needed to get going. “Merry Christmas!” he called out as swung out of the alley.

The list, Q1
When I completed my christmas calendar in December I made a list of (for me) new series I'd like to watch in 2024. This is what I've got so far:
Griselda
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
This was mine and my boyfriend's mutual project. We don't really have the same taste in series, but sometimes they overlap. Like, when it both have drugs, murders and Sofia Vergara. This one's really Sofia in her prime, she does an amazing job portraying the strong, targeted drug queen of Miami. Highly recommend!
------
Heartbreak High
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩🦩
This has come up as a sugestion for me for a long time, since it's in my absolute most common genre; teenage dramas with queer elements. That also comes with some high expectations when I finally get around to watch it. Heartbreak High mostly lives up to this, there's a lot of well developed characters and a story that reminds me a lot of Sex Education. I'm looking forward to how season 2 (drops April 11th) will develop the story. And yes, Quinni is the best!
------
The Unlisted
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩🦩
This was practically all my childhood nightmares come to life and I was so hooked by the ever thrilling story. I sat in angst cheering so hard for the kids to succeed with their mission. Looses one flamingo mostly because it ended with a cliffhanger and then got canceled.
------
One Day
(Netflix)
🦩🦩
First and foremost, I do have a big problem with these kind of stories. It concists of building up a lot of hope, just to tear it down by the end. I don't really see the fascination in that. But I did mostly like the movie from 2011 and therefore it felt obvious I should check this out. I really liked the production, the environments and the overall look of it. But I was not that impressed by the actors', more specifically the leads', performance. Big bonus for Essie Davis as Alison though, would love to see more of her.
------
Never have I ever
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩
This is also a series that's been lying around in my list, waiting to be seen, for a while. I can't say it entirely lived up to my expectations, but it definitely has its highlights and insights. I like the comedy-drama-mix, cultural representation and the adults. But I'm having trouble with a lot of Devi's personality and how they handle queer representation. From time to time I mostly found it a bit boring.
------
Everything now
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩🦩
This was HEAVY on so many levels, I had to watch this from time to time spread out over several weeks, mixed up with lighter stuff. But it was also SO good! Not having ED myself I can't say weither this was a good representation of it, but I really felt I got to be inside Mia's brain and understand anorexia a bit better. I liked how not everything was about that though, it was also just normal teenage life, because yeah, why shouldn't it? I also liked how everyone's sexuality was normalised.
------
My life with the Walter boys
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩
This was the kind of series that got me giggling, hiding behind a pillow several times. Not cringey, more like I really felt their feelings and cheered for them not to make bad decissions. It's a beutiful story and a bit like a teenage version of Chesapeake Shores meeting all Hallmark christmas movies. The queer representation leaves a lot to wish for. And I can't stop thinking about the fact that Jackie moves in to a family, directly sees some of them as siblings (Parker, for example) while she has no trouble falling in love with two others. Isn't that a bit...strange? What am I missing?
------
The White Lotus
(HBO)
🦩🦩🦩
My immidiate description of this series is; odd. It was not at all what I expected and I'm having trouble describing it at all. Is it good? Well, it's not bad..? There are definitely some amazing cast performances from i.e. Jennifer Coolidge, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Leo Woodall (I actually found him to be better here than in One day), Murray Bartlett and Jake Lacy. The constant background music is mostly just annoying, but otherwise the sets and production is great.
------
Smiley
(Netflix)
🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
Don't even know how to start here, because I was kind of floored by this. I binged it all in one night and I changed between crying and laughing the whole time. It's a wonderful, cute, well-written, queer love story set in the city of my dreams (Barcelona). The agonising feelings of falling in love are so relatable and so are the challenges meet by friends and family. This is a slow burn, opposites-attract story for when you just want to feel good. Bring tissues!
------
Other highlights and rewatches:
Young Royals season 3; one of the best last episodes ever, even caught the eye of my very hesitant boyfriend.
Modern Family; when the world's in shambles - go back to comfort.
Blown away season 4; who knew a reality show about glasblowing would be this thrilling? I've saved the finally for a rainy day.
Young Sheldon season 7; last season is droping one episode a week. I'll sure miss this!
Glamorous; I was very sad to find out this was cancelled, but a rewatch still makes me happy!
XO, Kitty; I'm getting more impatient to hear what's next, give me season 2 now!
But, the biggest thing dropping during these first months was obviously;
Heartstopper season 3 will drop in October!!🍂
See you in June for the next report!

Be my angel? [P.P]
Tumblr media
A/N: I got this idea watching a really cheesy Christmas movie on Netflix and wrote it down quickly so I could post it before Christmas. My writing isn't as good as it used to be and I'm not sure this makes a lot of sense or if any good but merry Christmas from me to you.
Pairing: Angel!Peter Parker x single mom! reader
WC: 1k
Christmas was a magical time. Snowflakes falling from the sky and littering the ground with blankets of white snow that crunched beneath your feet. Christmas lights and trees adding festive cheer to every home and every street. The smell of hot chocolate and cookies surrounding the kitchen as children waited for Santa to arrive.
This magic seemed to be lost by some who grew older and tired of holiday traditions, those who had lost their Christmas cheer for one reason or another. For some specially chosen people it was their job to reignite that passion and love to those people. Those selected few were called angels.
These kinds of angels weren’t ghosts or spirits but rather people who had shown altruism, cheer and selfless love for others. It was a top secret and small group of people from all over the world.
Peter Parker was one of those lucky few. But being a Christmas angel wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Sometimes people didn’t want Christmas joy and cheer brought back to them and sometimes things were much more complicated than simply spreading the cheer to a person especially if feelings became involved.
The latter had happened to Peter. He had been assigned to a single mom who simply didn’t see the point in having much cheer for herself but she always made sure there was enough for her 5 year old daughter.
Peter had arranged the meeting perfectly, he accidentally bumped into Y/n on the street whilst out Christmas shopping causing coffee to spill all over his festive sweater. Y/n had apologized profusely and the little girl who was dressed for the holidays nudged her leg and said she should buy him another.
She smiled up at Peter and it was as if she could see the invisible halo above his head. He smiled back and shook his head, pleading that it was okay but Y/n had insisted and that’s how he found himself having a cup of coffee with Y/n and her daughter, Maisie. A coffee place he conveniently got a job at.
It became somewhat of a regular occurrence after that to have coffee and Peter suspected that Maisie was the one encouraging Y/n to take the leap to invite him out. It was when they were out at their favorite table one day that Maisie whispered something to Peter that he hadn’t forgotten.
“I know what you really are.” Maisie spoke casually as she scribbled in a festive coloring book, Y/n having gone to get her a hot chocolate.
Peter raised a brow and smiled, “Oh really?”
Maisie nodded and smiled before speaking in a big voice, “An angel!”
A few people glanced over to their table. Peter shushed her and blushed, shaking his head. “What makes you think that?”
“Because you’re magic.” Maisie whispered with a big smile, her eyes wide and full of excitement. There had been a time where Peter had used some of his power to put up festive decorations when visiting their house and he had suspected that little wandering eyes had spotted him.
“Do you think your Mom knows?” Peter asked, taking a sip of his coffee. If Y/n knew then the jig was up and he would have to leave her alone. Something he really wished didn’t have to be true.
“Of course not.” Maisie giggled, “Mommy is silly.”
Peter laughed, breathing an inner sigh of relief and drinking the rest of his coffee as Y/n came back over. He stole a glance at her before going back on shift and his heart fluttered at how beautiful she looked, he could tell his magical charms were working and her heart was slowly becoming full of festive cheer.
Of course he was glad of doing his job well but he knew that soon he would have to leave. He had gotten very attached to Y/n over a short period of time and he knew that angels were not meant to fall in love with the people they helped but how could Peter not when Y/n was perfect in every sense of the word.
Even Peter’s roommate, Ned, had been pushing for him to ask her out and when he replied that he couldn't, even his own heart broke at hearing the sound truth out loud. Ned couldn’t understand why when Peter was so desperately falling for Y/n that everyone could see it but her.
It was Christmas Eve when Peter knew his job had been done. Y/n and Maisie were dancing around the coffee shop to their favorite Christmas song like no one else was watching, even pulling Peter to join in.
Y/n thanked him for everything, not knowing quite how he had made her see what Christmas really meant before kissing his lips ever so gently. Peter’s whole face turned red as his heart increased its speed and fluttered in his chest.
“You don’t have to thank me.” Peter smiled wide and shook his head, wanting desperately to kiss her again but the sound of jingle bells coming from nearby stopped him. That was his cue to leave.
Y/n went back to Maisie and Peter chose the opportunity to sneak out, knowing he was going back to his usual crusade to save the city as he wore his red and blue suit. Another top secret job only he knew about.
Before he could leave the coffee shop, a small hand grabbed his wrist. He turned and was met with big wide pleading eyes looking up at him.
“Please don’t go.”
Maisie’s words brought him to a halt at the open door, snow starting to filter into the shop from outside. Y/n looked at him sadly as she realized he was leaving and pleaded for him to stay, at least for one more drink.
“I haven’t even been able to ask you out yet.” Y/n smiled and took his hand, looking at him with an expression that Peter couldn’t resist.
The bells grew more insistent, asking him to leave but how could he when his and Y/n’s adventure had only just begun. So he closed the door to the little coffee shop and sat down at the table, ordering another round of hot chocolates and smiling wider than he had all year as Y/n’s hand interlocked with his own.

seasonal greeting / photoshoot
now this was a concept that eunho liked. it was so cool and slick and when eunho looked at himself in the mirror he couldn't help but feel like this was something he could get used to. now only if type zero could release a song where it required them to dress like this. it was wishful thinking, because eunho knew the sound type zero had and it was not the kind of sound that required them to wear suitrs and ties.
eunho looked himself in the mirror, adusting the tie he was wearing - smiling at the look.
this was something eunho truly felt like he looked good in, it showed off his height and physical features well. eunho looked around and made sure that he could spot the other members, he knew that to make everything seem good he couldn't stand next to many of them, nathan would be fine but... not parker, even though he liked to poke fun at the younger being an armrest he didn't want to make him look bad in pictures.
thankfully the photographer knew what they were doing as well, making eunho be respectful if he was actually by parker's side. his legs a little spread so that he doessn't tower over the shorter members too much.
to the staff around them eunho makes sure to be polite and cheerful, even though he might seem cold and a little hard to approach when he is not talking or just zoning out. after all, he had his official korean debut not that long ago and well... their release was a success, thankfully. that was probably a reason why they could take pictures for their sesonal greetings now, if thunderous hadn't done well maybe they wouldn't be here right now.
with christmas coming up, eunho couldn't help but feel grateful.

Christmas wishes part 2 fake dating au, Andrew garfield!peter parker x fem!reader
word count: 1.5k
warnings: swearing, suggestive themes
note: Hiya everybody here's the next part hope you all enjoy and had a happy holidays!
Tumblr media
Peter yanked the suitcase up the steps of her porch like it weighed nothing. (Name) had struggled to even pull it with the amount of clothes she'd packed.
"Thanks for coming to see me at the airport. I could've come back on my own y'know." She said, ringing the doorbell.
"I know that but I missed the hell out of you and wanted to see you as soon as I could." Peter admitted ruffling her hair.
"No don't do that, I spent ages trying to get it right this morning." She groaned, swatting his hand away.
"My aplogies your majesty." He said feigning sympathy.
"We can't all just roll out of bed like you do." She rolled her eyes at him. "It's good to be home." She bumped peter with her shoulder.
He bumped her back. "It's good to have you back."
They smiled softly at eachother, another one of the thousands of little moments they always had.
The door flung open shattering the moment. "Darling you're home!" Her mom cheered.
"Hey mom." She beamed, kissing her mother on the cheek.
"And what do we have here?" Her mom. gasped, gawking at Peter standing behind (Name).
"Hello ma'am." He greeted.
"You get more handsome every time I see you." The older woman complimented.
"Thank you." He chuckled rubbing the back of his neck.
"What a shame, if you weren't taken by my daughter I'd have you all to myself."
"Mom!" (Name) stammered.
"Sorry darling, not my fault you have such a handsome boyfriend." Her mom tittered.
"We're not dating!" Both her and Peter exclaimed, equally flustered.
She couldnt even look at Peter or he would read everything on her face.
"Shit." Her mother randomly swore.
"What is it mom?" She asked catiously.
"I told the whole family you had a boyfriend and that you'd bring him to your grandparents annual christmas retreat this weekend."
"Oh mom please tell me you're kidding?" She sighed.
"No I'm afraid not. You're grandmother will be disappointed. She's getting on, she always says that she wants to see you settled."
"I'm only 21!"
"Yes, however you've never had a boyfriend and it made her so happy to think you finally had one."
"She'll have to be disappointed I guess." (Name) shrugged. "Peter will you help me take my suitcase upstairs."
Peter wordlessly nodded grabbing her suitcase and following her to her room, leaving her mother bewildered.
(Name) shut the bedroom door behind them. "Ok so here's the thing-
"(Name), no. I already know what you're going to say." Peter groaned cutting her off.
"Please peter." She begged clasping her palms together.
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Please will you pretend to be my boyfriend for like two days?" She quickly asked him.
"I can't think of anything worse." He responded.
"You could try to seem less disgusted!" She exclaimed, folding her arms across her chest.
"Woah woah hold on I never said that the idea of dating you specifically disgusted me." He defended waving his hands at her.
"You didn't seem so disgusted by me that one time we were in here?" She smirked, referring to an incident they could only now lightly poke fun at.
"I hate when you bring that up." He admitted dark pink spreading across his cheeks.
....................................................................
The incident had occurred the first time he'd ever hungout in her room.
The summer was long and hot. They were both broke college students with little money between them, leaving them with limited ways to pass the time. It was even more muggy and humid than that first day she'd taken the mixing bowl over.
They lay on her bed, the small fan doing little to cool their scolding skin.
"I can actually hear the sound of my brain frying." She complained, wiping her clammy forehead.
"I doubt there's anything up there to fry." Peter bitterly remarked.
"Nice to know you kept your wonderful sense of humour during these hard times." She scoffed, giving him a dirty look.
The heat had put them in a foul mood. They had been friends for a couple weeks and whilst they had been hanging out everyday, they still sometimes relentlessly annoyed one another.
"Sorry." He said, massaging his temples. "I'm just hot and bored."
"It's okay. I'm sorry too." She apologised, turning on her side to look at Peter. "I wish we had more money to do something fun."
He turned his neck to look at her. "I doubt it would be fun walking around in this heat."
"Is there anything fun we could do without leaving this bed?" She asked him.
"We could makeout?" He snorted.
Her mouth felt dry. She couldn't tell if it was the heat or Peter's suggestion. "What the-you're not seriously suggesting that you and me-me and you."
His brown eyes widened. "Oh my god yeah obviously not. Shit you don't actually think I meant that do you?" He stammered. It was hilarious how fast he could go from being so bold to being so shy.
"Okay good." She breathed, the only sound in her ears the rushing of her pulse.
A tense silence clouded the room mingling with the sticky july heat. She couldn't deny that she found him physically attractive. Despite having a tendency to be insufferable he had an appealing face. And an even more appealing body.
It had been ages since she'd slept with anyone, let alone been kissed. If she kissed him it could be a way to let off some steam.
"I mean we could try..." She mumbled.
"If it was only once..." He murmured.
It seemed they were both thinking out loud.
He gnawed at his bottom lip. "If we do this I just want to make it clear I don't want a relationship or anything from you."
She propped herself up on her arm. "Yeah agreed, it's just- curiosity."
He held out his pinky finger. "To no feelings." He joked.
She wrapped her pinky around his. "To no feelings." She repeated.
"Ok how am I meant to start this?" He swallowed rolling onto his side.
"You could be less awkward for one, it's kind of a mood killer." She huffed.
"Oh well sorry what do you suggest I do?" He snapped, not very sorry at all.
"Jesus I'll do it myself then." She grabbed his arm and moved it to her waist. "You could start by pulling me against you."
He raised a brow at her and pulled her flush against his chest, her legs tangled with his. "Then what?"
Her mind was blanking over with his eyes gazing into hers. "Th-then you" She cleared her throat. "Then you cup my face." He smirked at her nervousness.
They were so close she could feel his pounding heart beat against her palms that were resting on his chest.
He bought up a large hand to caress her jaw. "Then what?"
His thumb ran along her parted lips. "And then you kiss me." She whispered.
They begun to lean in, heads tilting to the side. His lips were half an inch from being firmly pressing against hers, they barely brushed hers when her phone started ringing.
They moved apart from eachother bursting out laughing erasing any awkwardness.
"So much for that then." She chuckled. "To never trying to cross the lines of friendship again?" She offered her pinky finger to him.
He wrapped his pinky around hers. "Agreed." He grinned.
.........................................................................
They were settled sitting cross legged on her bed.
"You'll have a good time I promise, the food's always incredible plus it's in the hamptons." She told him.
"Hurray a whole weekend with snobby rich people." Peter sarcastically cheered.
"Which is exactly why I want you to come with me, to stop me from going insane."
"Fine I'll go."
She exhaled heavily. "Yes! Amazing, thank you so much."
"The things that happen when I hangout with you." He commented.
"You're seriously the best."
"Oh yeah I already knew that."
She playfully slapped his arm. "Anyone ever told you how modest you are?"
"Only all the time." He joked.
"Seriously Peter thank you. I know I don't say it enough, but I really appreciate you." She said, she took his hand in hers. He weaved his fingers through hers.
"I appreciate you too." He confessed, the corner of his lip quirking up. "I've never said this to you before but..."
Her eyes widened, was he about to tell her that he-
"You're the closest and most genuine friend I've ever had. I've never had someone understand me like you do. I'm so grateful for you."
Her vision clouded over at the sweetness of what he'd said.
She burried her face in her hand that was free. "Fuck Peter you can't say that shit to me, you have no idea what it does to me." She mumbled.
"Damn you're actually embarrassed?" He snickered.
"Shut up." She groaned.
There was that word again, 'Friend'. A reminder of her role to him in a land she could never leave. And with him pretending to be her boyfriend it was going to be hard to remember her place.

peter had finished his patrol but he was late. he was late for your date and he swore he didn’t mean to as he swung quickly towards your apartment, ignoring the pain that spread throughout his biceps.
he knocked at your window but there was no answer. and peter, being peter, assumed the worst. he was sure you would never want to see his face anymore.
he pulled his phone out from a small compartment in his suit, noticing another few new scratches that appeared over the screen after his fight with those goons today.
the fog over your window was proving a hindrance for him to look inside but soon you were at the window, opening it for him to climb in.
“h-hey, hey!” peter said, voice sounding weak, as he crawled inside your apartment swiftly, promoting you to shut the window along with the curtains before he threw his mask on your bed, “i’m sorry i-”
“are you hurt?” your concerned voice made him raise his eyebrows in surprise.
“n-no, i’m okay.” you were throwing your arms around the brunette as soon as those words left his mouth. peter wrapped his arms around your waist, rubbing you back gently to help you calm down, “hey, hey, i’m okay, princess. i-i’m sorry for never making it to our date.”
“i don’t care about the date.” your voice came muffled against the fabric of his suit but peter heard every word amplified, “i thought you were hurt or something.”
peter placed a few gentle kisses to your head, “i promise i’m okay.”
“good.” you gave him a small smile, which peter returned immediately, looking into his eyes.
“let’s just stay in today and watch christmas movies, that’ll cheer you up.”

Sick of Losing Soulmates
Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader
Summary: Months after you and Peter have broken up, you run into each other at Harry’s Christmas party.
Word Count: 4.1k
Warnings: Both fluffy and angsty. Mentions of alcohol and sex. A mild amount of curse words.
A/N: I’m ALIVE! I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season, and Merry Christmas to everybody that celebrates it! I am so happy to be able to share my work with all of you! Enjoy <3
“And maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece Till you tore it all up” -All Too Well, Taylor Swift
He wasn’t supposed to be here. Harry had promised you that his roommate would be spending the holidays with May back in Queens. But here he was, wearing the sweater that you had given him last year with his arm snaked around another girl’s waist.
“Hey!” Betty grinned, throwing her arms around you. She had a half-empty glass of mulled wine that you could tell was doing a good job of getting her tipsy. “I’ve missed you so much, Y/N. We never see each other anymore.”
She pouted, a pair of reindeer antlers where her signature black headband usually sat. “Are you okay?”
“Oh, yeah,” you assured her, still staring at Peter effortlessly carrying the conversation with a bunch of people you didn’t recognize. “Uh, who’s the girl with Peter?”
“Gwen Stacy,” she muttered, obviously not a very big fan. You figured it was because there was only room for one preppy blonde girl, and Betty didn’t feel like sharing that position with anybody else. “Don’t worry though! It’s nothing serious. Peter actually hasn’t really dated anybody ever since the two of you…”
Her voice trailed off as you locked eyes with her, silently communicating for her to drop the subject. It was a relief to know that he hadn’t moved on, but the fact that he was wrapped up in a fling with somebody else still made your heart hurt.
“Come on, Y/N. I’m sure MJ and Ned would love to see you! They’re over in the kitchen.” She reached for your hand, dragging you along through Harry’s expertly decorated apartment.
You dropped the box of cookies that you had baked on the counter before tapping MJ on the shoulder. She was turned away from you, lecturing Ned on why his secondhand Beyblades were not acceptable Christmas presents.
“Who the hell is touching me?” she snapped, turning around with a look on her face that told you she was ready to throw hands. “Holy fuck. Y/N! How long have you been here?”
MJ’s frown faded into a smile as she pulled you into a side-hug, her other hand busy nursing a glass of Harry’s infamously terrible eggnog. “Only a few minutes,” you laughed, your face smushed into her torso.
“Hi,” Ned piped up, offering a small wave. You could tell he didn’t really know where he stood ever since his best friend basically ripped your heart out and threw it on the floor. Well, it wasn’t actually that dramatic, but he had a flair for exaggerating stories. “Remember me?”
“Of course, stupid,” you grinned, offering a fist bump that he happily accepted. “How could I forget those iconic fits of yours?”
“True,” he said, popping his collar and doing a little twirl that made Betty and MJ roll their eyes. “You look pretty fly too, though.”
“Thanks,” you replied, holding the edge of your dress as you curtsied, something you and Ned had made a habit of doing as the so-called best dressed members of the group.
“You two are just as ridiculous as ever,” Betty mused, happy to see you still fit in just as perfectly as when you were Peter’s girlfriend, even if you weren’t around as much.
The reunion was interrupted by the loud chatter of a certain couple, and your heart sank as you watched a very drunk Peter and Gwen stumble towards the kitchen, a giggling mess. They situated themselves under the archway that separated the two rooms, a piece of mistletoe conveniently hanging above them.
You could tell that MJ was ready to put a stop to her friend’s embarrassing behavior, and the looks on Ned and Betty’s faces told you that they had no intentions of holding her back.
“They’re so gross,” MJ complained, setting down her untouched cup before excusing herself to drag Peter out of his drunken makeout session. “I can’t believe he’d do that when you’re right here!”
“Wait, MJ,” you blurted, grabbing onto her wrist to stop her. She turned to face you, her eyebrows furrowed. “It’s okay. I don’t care about it. I’m just going to head to the bathroom, alright? I’ll be right back.”
You did your best to stop yourself from tearing up, although you realized you had made the utter mistake of forgetting that the very arch that Peter and Gwen were sucking each other’s faces under was the only way out of the kitchen.
Not even a few moments of you awkwardly standing next to them, occasionally clearing your throat, made them notice you. Eventually, the discomfort grew too heavy, and you tapped Peter on the shoulder. He finally pulled away from Gwen, her lipstick smudged across his mouth and a dazed look on his face.
Gwen whimpered at the loss of his kiss, obviously annoyed at the random girl that had just interrupted them. As soon as Peter recognized that it was you, he stepped away from her, wiping his mouth and fixing the hair she had been running her hands through, just like you used to.
“Y/N. I didn’t know that you’d be here,” he reasoned, a blush spreading across his face as a sense of regret settled into his stomach.
“Obviously,” you sighed. This wasn’t the Peter you knew—the sweet, shy one that you had fallen in love with. “You guys are blocking the hallway, by the way.”
“Shit, sorry,” he stammered, stepping aside to allow you to pass in between them. He followed you, leaving Gwen irritated and confused as to who you were. “Y/N. Can we talk later?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Nice sweater, though,” you quipped, not even turning back to meet his gaze before climbing the stairs towards the guest bathroom. Everything felt all too familiar, memories of you and Peter stumbling up the same steps after a date flooding your brain.
The first time Peter had kissed you was after MJ’s birthday party. Neither of you had been drinking, since you hated alcohol and Peter refused to touch any before he turned 21. This meant that you got to spend the whole night laughing at everybody else’s drunken mischief.
In the middle of his performance of some Nicki Minaj song, Ned managed to spill a whole can of beer on you and Peter, which resulted in many cheers as the two of you ran to his room to grab a change of clothes. Shirts came off, confessions were made, and the party went on without you guys.
You took a deep breath, shutting the bathroom door behind you and sitting on the edge of the bathtub. If you had known Peter would end up being here, you would have never accepted Harry’s invitation. There were so many old wounds being opened up that you had spent months trying to heal, and you weren’t sure some stupid Christmas party was worth it.
But you didn’t want to leave. It wasn’t fair how much the break up had stolen from you. All of your friends were here and you were tired of shying away from going out with them anymore because you were too scared to see Peter. Too scared that you would never be able to stop being in love with him.
By the time you rejoined the rest of your friends, Harry was announcing that it was time to start the game of White Elephant. You bit the edges of your fingernails as the party guests filed into Harry’s living room, hoping that Peter wouldn’t somehow pick your present.
“What’d you bring?” you asked Betty, squishing in next to her on the couch.
“Gift card to In-N-Out,” she giggled, satisfied that her present could only be used on the other side of the country. “But Harry’s rich friends might not have any trouble flying their private jets to California, so maybe I’m not as clever as I thought.”
“Heard that,” Harry said, leaning behind you on the edge of the couch. He placed a quick kiss on your cheek, something the two of you had always done as friends but stopped once you started dating Peter. “Hey, Y/N. Glad you could make it.”
“Hey, you,” you replied, smiling back at him, your leg bouncing impatiently. “We doing this thing or what?”
“Yeah, yeah, give me a minute,” he laughed, running out of the room. Moments later, he came back wearing a fake beard and a Santa hat, complete with a miniature sack of toys.
“Alright, boys and girls. Let’s get this game started! Hopefully you all know the rules, but I’ll repeat them anyway. I draw a name out of the sack, you pick a random present and open it up for everybody to see. The next person that goes can either steal your gift or pick a new one. If your gift gets stolen, you get to do the same. No stealing twice!”
The first couple of people you didn’t really know, and they had all pulled presents that were relatively uninteresting. A scented candle, toilet paper, a pair of socks. Nothing you really considered worth stealing, although Ned ended up taking a framed, autographed photo of Harry from MJ, which resulted in her stealing Gwen’s mini waffle iron.
By the time it was your turn, there weren’t many gifts left. Going with your gut, you grabbed the bag covered in glittering polar bears. Reaching past all of the tissue paper stuffed inside, you pulled out a red sweatshirt that you unfolded to see had a large graphic of Spider-Man printed on it.
“Oh,” you said, a little confused. The only people you knew that wore stuff with the Avengers on it were little kids, but you figured that was part of the joke. “I mean, I prefer Captain America, but thanks, whoever this is from!”
Peter’s face blushed to a shade of red, amazed that out of all the presents, you picked his. The only issue was that you didn’t know that he was actually the guy on the front of it. Nobody except Ned knew, although he was sure that MJ and Harry had caught on to his secret identity by now.
“Okay, two people left. Jake, you’re up next, buddy,” Harry called out, happily bouncing around the room, his Santa hat now replaced with a baseball cap that had “I Love Ned!” embroidered on it. You watched nervously as he walked around the room, eyeing up all of the presents before settling on the tiny, golden box that you had placed under the tree when you first arrived.
“Let’s see what we’re working with,” he smirked. Your thoughts raced, immediately feeling a sense of regret over the gift you had picked. “Oh, shit. Sweet! I’ve got a date with Y/N!”
“Sup, baby,” Jake continued, his words slightly slurred. He pointed at you and winked, and you offered him a polite smile in return. “We’re gonna have a good time. Just name the time and place and I got you.”
“Awesome, congrats, man,” Harry said, obviously ready for the game to be over. It had been going for way longer than any of you had expected, mostly due to the fact that two girls wouldn’t stop arguing over a piece of rose quartz. “Okay, we’re nearly finished, guys. Peter, you’re up. Pick any of the gifts that haven’t been stolen yet, or the last one under the tree.”
You locked eyes with him, a familiar scowl on his face that told you he was thinking really hard about which gift to pick. His spidey-senses felt your heartbeat pick up as he walked around the room before stopping in front of Jake, who was busy gloating to his friend about how “hot” you were. Your face heated up as you watched Peter take the little note that you had written out of Jake’s hands, smugly gesturing for him to pick up the present under the tree.
He waved sheepishly at you, and you felt both relieved and angry at his decision. Did you want to go on that date with Jake? No. Were you still mad that, technically, you now had to go out with your ex-boyfriend? Yes.
The game ended and the party-goers dispersed throughout the apartment. You lingered in your spot on the couch, your arms crossed and heart full of mixed emotions. Peter, whose gaze never strayed from you, walked over to where you were sitting.
“We don’t actually have to go out,” he whispered, hoping that you’d actually look at him this time. “I just didn’t think you wanted to go out with that guy. He seemed like kind of an asshole.”
“Yeah, well, it would have been nice if you let me decide that. You’re not my boyfriend, anymore Peter. We aren’t even friends. You don’t get a say in who I go out on dates with,” you grumbled, your eyes focusing on everything in the room except for him.
Before you could say anything else, Peter had already grabbed you by the hand, dragging you away from the rest of the party. Strangely enough, you went along with it, a little curious to hear him out.
You started to remember your first date, and it was almost like you could hear his excited laughter after you finally managed to knock a pin down. It became a tradition that whenever you had something to celebrate, Peter would pick you up and twirl you around until you had to beg him to stop.
Your thoughts were interrupted by Peter slamming the door behind him and cornering you against it, his heartbeat racing. He had pulled you into the laundry room. “I can’t stand seeing you with anybody else,” he panted, eyes flickering down towards your mouth.
His hand pushed a piece of your hair behind your ear, and your breath hitched as you felt his rough fingertips against your skin. But before he could lean in to kiss you, you were ducking underneath his arm and backing away.
“Peter, we really shouldn’t,” you whispered, watching the disappointment wash over his face. No matter how much you wanted to kiss him, you just couldn't forget how he had broken your heart months ago. “It’s over, okay?”
“Y/N, please. I—”
“You what? You love me? Because last time we were together, I told you how much I loved you and you said that we should break up. Remember?” you cried, embarrassed at how you couldn’t control your emotions anymore. “You’re just… you’re too late.”
You fumbled with the door, slipping through the opening before rushing towards the balcony. As soon as the cold air hit you, a wave of relief washed over your body, and you laid your head against the metal railing. Your breathing slowed and time seemed to stand still as you watched the snowflakes flutter through the wind.
“Peter’s an idiot,” you heard a voice call out from behind you. You turned to see Harry holding an extra coat in his arms, and you started to wonder just how long you had been standing out there. He draped it over your shoulders before leaning next to you against the balcony’s edge.
“Huh?” you asked, wondering if he knew what had just happened. You looked at him, the multicolored Christmas lights reflecting off his shiny hair. “What do you mean?”
“He’s stupid for ever letting you go,” he remarked. He had a look in his eyes that made you unsure of what he actually meant. “I mean, look at you. You’re so beautiful, and smart, and funny. And if he was dumb enough to throw all of that away, then yeah, Peter’s an idiot.”
“Oh, thanks, I guess,” you shrugged, your voice faint under the music that was still playing inside. You looked at him, his cheeks a rosy hue, which you couldn’t tell was from the cold or whatever he was trying to tell you.
“You know, I used to have the biggest crush on you,” Harry admitted, laughing a little bit at how nervous he was. Everybody knew that he was a player, so being flustered over a girl was uncharted territory for him. “I never told you this, but you were my first kiss.”
“Wait, really?” you asked, a little shocked at his confession. “But I thought you kissed Sarah Emerson on the playground in the fifth grade?”
“Nope. I was just a liar,” he grinned, running a hand through his hair. “It was right before our eighth grade formal, when you asked me to teach you how to kiss because you were scared that Jeremy Pellegrino was going to try and french you.
“Oh! I forgot all about that,” you laughed, suddenly remembering just how long you and Harry had been friends. “Hold on a second... You gave me kissing lessons without knowing how to kiss!?”
“Guilty,” Harry chuckled as you punched him on the arm. “Ow! Damn, Y/N. When did you get so strong?”
“I have a lot of rage,” you mumbled before the two of you burst out into laughter, which slowly faded into a comfortable silence.
“You don’t feel that way anymore, right?” you wondered out loud. Harry looked at you, smiling softly.
“No, not anymore,” he affirmed, and you let out a sigh of relief. You knew what it felt like to love someone and not be loved back. “I think what really helped me get over it was seeing how happy you and Parker were when you were dating.”
“He misses you a lot,” Harry continued, his tone more serious than before. “He keeps this scarf that you left behind under his pillow because it still smells like you. I found out because he was having a pretty bad dream one night and I had to try really hard to calm him back down. And we both thought Gwen would help him move on and get his mind off of you, but I think she only made him realize just how much he still loves you—”
“Harry,” you interrupted, cutting his rambles short. “Why are you telling me all of this?”
“Because you and Peter should be together.”
“You think so?” you asked him, pulling the jacket tighter to keep you warm.
“Yeah. We all do.” It took only seconds for Harry to realize his fumble, accidentally admitting that the whole thing had been planned by him and your friends.
“We?” Your frowned, all of the coincidences from tonight suddenly making much more sense. “Wait, did you know that Peter was going to be here tonight all along?”
“Uh… yeah, about that. MJ, Ned, and I have kind of been pulling a Parent Trap on you guys.”
“HARRY!” You glared inside to see them not-so-secretly watching the entire exchange from behind the Christmas tree. Ned did some awkward finger guns, which MJ immediately swatted down. “I am so going to get you guys!”
You marched inside to where your friends were attempting to hide, the rest of the party guests too drunk and oblivious to notice what was happening.
“The eagle has left the nest. I repeat, The eagle has left the nest!” Ned yelled, ducking behind MJ, who was already shielding herself with a throw pillow.
“What’s going on?” Betty whined, half-asleep on the couch. “Is this that stupid plan about Peter and Y/N?”
“It’s not stupid!” Harry grumbled, his voice cracking a little bit. You could hear MJ snorting about it from her hiding spot. “Whatever, Michelle.”
“Shut up!” she shouted back.
“No, you!” he said, crossing his arms and standing his ground.
“Make me,” MJ said, narrowing her eyes and shooting daggers at him.
“Uh, guys. This isn’t about you two,” Ned interrupted, snapping them out of their mini argument. There was a weird tension between them that you just knew you would have to address some time in the future.
“Right,” MJ continued, sticking a middle finger up at Harry before turning to you. “Y/N. You should go talk to Peter.”
You nodded, exchanging hopeful looks with each of your friends before walking away. They might be dramatic goofballs, but you loved them so much that you didn’t really care.
Wandering around the party, you spotted Peter trapped in a conversation with Brad Davis, who was explaining his conspiracy theories about the Denver Airport and its demonic horse statue.
“So, all I’m saying is that they’re totally planning the end of the world over there. I mean, the Freemasons built an entire bunker for when they activate the nukes!” he rambled, Peter politely nodding along to his nonsense.
“Hey,” you said, tapping Brad on the shoulder and batting your eyelashes at him. “Can I borrow Peter?”
“Uh, yeah, totally, Y/N,” he stuttered, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards into a smirk. You could smell the peppermint Schnapps on his breath.
“Great. Thanks, Brad!” you smiled, grabbing Peter’s hand and pulling him towards the staircase. By the time you made it to his bedroom, he had already asked what was going on about ten times.
“Why’d you dump me?” you asked, the two of you sitting together on the edge of his bed, your knee brushing against his. He could tell you were wasting no time in getting to the point. “Be honest.”
He stared at the floor, unsure of how to answer your question. You reached for his hand, running your thumb across his knuckles until he looked up to see you smiling at him. His eyes were starting to water. “Just tell me, Peter. It’s okay.”
“I was scared,” he admitted, his voice breaking. “I was scared of how much I love you. I mean, Liz was just a crush, and Gwen was a hookup. I’ve only ever loved you, Y/N. Before we met, I had to watch May’s heart break day after day when we lost Uncle Ben, and when I realized how much I loved you... I just wasn’t sure if I could handle ever losing you like that. And so I felt like I needed to protect you from all of the people who would want to hurt you.”
“Hey, Peter. Calm down. I’m right here,” you whispered, wiping a tear from his face. You watched as his breathing slowed, eventually evening out. “Why would anybody want to hurt me?”
“Because…” he started, hesitating a little bit. “Because I’m Spider-Man.”
Your eyes grew big as you mulled over what he had just said. “Are you being serious right now?”
He nodded, feeling a weight lift from his chest. Your eyes followed him as he walked over to his closet, digging around through piles of clothes before he found what he was looking for.
“Holy shit,” you breathed out. Peter was holding up Spider-Man’s suit. His suit. The sweatshirt from earlier made a lot more sense now.
“I would never lie to you,” he said, folding it up and sitting back down. “I’m so sorry, Y/N. I thought I was doing the right thing—that you’d be safe—but I was so stupid. I, uh, I think about you all the time. I worry whether you’ve gotten home alright and how your little brother’s doing and if your mom got the promotion that she wanted and—”
You cut him off with a kiss, something you had been dying to do ever since you shut his bedroom door. “I forgive you,” you sighed, gently playing with his hair.
Peter stared back at you, a grin slowly spreading across his face. “Does this mean that we’re back together?”
“Yep,” you confirmed, before leaning into another kiss. And another. And another.
“Wait,” Peter said, breaking away from you. “I have a present for you. It’s actually from when we first started dating, but I was waiting until Christmas to give it to you.”
He moved to his desk, digging through one of the drawers before pulling out a flash drive. “Here it is,” he smiled, dropping it into your hand. It had your name scribbled on it next to a cat sticker. “It’s a playlist. Of all the songs that make me think of you. I think it’s got around a hundred on there?”
“Wow,” you beamed, marveling at the little piece of plastic in your hand. “You’re making me look bad. I didn’t get you anything.”
“Not true. You owe me a date, remember?” he reminded you, wiggling his eyebrows and pulling you into his lap.
“You’re right. Let me think,” you hummed, running through all the ideas of what the two of you could do. “Oh! I got it. The Central Park Squirrel Census for this year just got released. What if we analyzed the data? You could do the wrangling and I could do the visualizations!”
“I love you so much,” he laughed, pressing a kiss onto the tip of your nose. You giggled as Peter buried his face into your shoulder, his grip around your waist tightening. “But you are such a nerd.”
“I’m your nerd, Parker,” you agreed, leaning further into his embrace. “Always have been and always will be.”

Tumblr media
MJ watched as you talked with your friends by your locker, gushing about how one of your friends got a date for the prom coming up. She could see you smiling, happy for your friend while shaking your head when asked if you already had a date. It was rather surprising that you didn't’ have one yet, you were one of the most popular kids in the school. MJ was sure the guys were basically throwing themselves at you. Unlike most of the annoying people who she had to endure eight hours for five days a week, you were actually pretty cool. The “popularity” hadn’t gotten to your head, yet anyway.
“Stop drooling, you look a little creepy”, Peter Parker slid beside her, bumping into the locker next to MJs. He literally was wearing one of those shoes with rollers on the bottom.
MJ rolled her eyes at him and closed her locker after taking out the necessary books. She briefly wiped the corner of her mouth with her sleeve to make sure she wasn’t actually drooling.
Peter glanced at Y/N who was with her friends and wiggled his eyebrows.
“She doesn’t have a date yet”, he nudged MJ.
“I know”, she answered, annoyed where this conversation was headed already. “Why do you even care?” Her eyebrows furrowed together.
You said goodbyes to your friends and decided to head towards your chem class, passing MJ and Peter. She awkwardly smiled when you greeted her briefly and continued on with your way. MJ looked at Peter warningly when he turned back to her with a smug look.
“MJ’s got a crush--”
“I will hit you with a chair”, MJ said pointedly just as the class bell rang. Peter chuckled at his own sing-song joke, resting his hands on the straps of his back bag.
”Just ask her out man”, he said, looking up at her. ”What’s the worst that could happen?"
”Uh, first of all, you don't get to have any say in this”, MJ mused out loud, knowing just how dead and miserable Parker’s love life was and how he channeled it through other people's business. ”Second, I don’t even care.”
”Pfft, sure”, Peter mumbled, scratching the back of his neck while following her to class.
You were sitting in the cafeteria, talking with few friends of yours about the upcoming algebra exam when Peter Parker slid into your conversation. He plopped down beside you, scaring the life out of you.
”Hi”, you smiled confusedly. You weren’t quite sure what he wanted from you as you weren't too familiar, but his awkwardness was adorable. It made your friends giggle a little.
”Uh, hi okay so a quick survey”, Peter began making random patterns on the table while talking. ”If there happened to be an intelligent girl--woman! An intelligent woman, who's also rather cute but won't admit to anyone because the patriarchy sucks and we all eventually die and happened to also like dogs”, he nodded towards your phone where your cousin’s dog was as your lock screen.
”Like what would be her chances... with you?” He squinted his eyes at you, while yours were wide open.
”Peter, are you talking about MJ?” You freaked a little. You had no idea she might have liked you, you thought you always looked too girly and one of those bimbos in her eyes. Plus you always were so awkward when talking with her. Well, those rare times you got to talk with her. Like that one time the last December before Christmas break, you had complained about the homework in the bathroom while she had stayed mostly quiet.
Peter’s eyes went wide and his mouth opened and closed rapidly like he was a fish. ”I—uh, no! No, not MJ, definitely not—”
”Peter, it’s fine”, You chuckled, still a little overwhelmed by the new found information. Your friends nudged you teasingly, you just shook your head at them. ”I... I kinda like her too. If she likes me, that is.”
”She does!” Peter caught himself saying a bit too loud and he immediately lowered his voice. You bit your lip from excitement. ”I mean, she does... she’s just really bad at talking with people, who's not me.”
”You could see her after school”, one of your friends proposed. You looked at them in thought.
”We have cheer exercise though.”
”After that, behind the bleachers”, your other friend offered. ”I mean that’s where everyone makes out so you’d totally have all the privacy.” The thought made your cheeks heat up a quite bit.
You rolled your lips together in thought before nodding and turning to Peter. ”Can I have her phone number?” The boy scrambled through his pockets to get his phone, nodding feverishly at the same time.
”Hey it’s Y/N, can you see me after school by the bleachers?”
MJ had been pretty sure she had accidentally inhaled something poisonous in chem class when she got the message from you. And When MJ asked Peter how you had even gotten her number, he just shrugged his shoulders the tips of his ears bright red.
”I swear to god if you said anything stupid—”
”I don’t know what you’re talking about, I have to go, Aunt May’s waiting bye!” Peter word vomited after their last class and darted out of the room, leaving MJ deal with the mess by herself. She put the hood over her head and read your text again, not sure what to say so she ended up answering okay.
She grimaced a little how blunt it sounded.
Outside was warm, the summer was quickly approaching with the help of climate change. MJ didn't necessarily dislike the heat, in the summer, she just didn't like the fact that she couldn't seek comfort from her hoodies and long-sleeved clothing anymore.
She had almost forgotten how nervous she was until she saw you, already in your cheer uniform, hair out of your face. You had this gleeful grin on your face you usually had when the cafeteria had your favorite lunch or when you were talking about your weekend plans with your friends. And now it was directed to her!
MJ awkwardly brushed the hair strand in front of her face, glancing around if anyone was at the field yet to see you two. There wasn't anyone.
”Hi”, you breathed out. MJ felt her heart hammer in her chest. She felt like if she opened her mouth to speak she’d accidentally blurt out everything she was thinking.
”So”, you continued when MJ stayed silent, standing there with her hands fiddling by her sides. ”Peter gave me your number”, you began, chuckling when MJ rolled her eyes a little. She made a mental note to sack that loser... or maybe thank him, depending on what this was about.
“Are you going, to the dance?” She asked, wanting to fill the awkward silence. You were a little taken aback by the sudden question, smiling a little baffled.
“Uh, no”, you shook your head. MJ raised her eyebrows a little surprised. She was sure out of everyone you’d go. You probably had a line of guys ready to take you out from the drop of the hat.
“I don’t really like big crowds”, you admitted sheepishly. “And you?”
MJ had been staring at your lips for a second. “Oh, no—I don’t—“ she began stuttering and falling over her words. You nodded understanding her nonetheless. Meanwhile, MJ was cursing herself inside her head for suddenly turning into such a toddler.
“I was thinking”, you began, eyes darting all around you two, too nervous to look at MJ. “And you can totally say no, but like... there’s this apocalypse movie coming up. Well, the first show is on the dance night to be exact and I thought if you’d like to go and see it? With... me..?” You dared to look up at MJ, whose mouth was hanging a little bit open. Normally you would have joked about it, had you not been feeling like throwing up your lunch from the agonizing nervousness.
”I uh—” stupid brain, for once work! MJ stuttered, looking at you like a deer in the headlights because there was no chance that she was being asked out right now? By you of all people. How did people usually react to this? Like, do they nod? Say just yes? Yes seems too plain and stupid.
”Does—does insects have chemoreceptors for taste on their legs?” She clicked her fingers into the universal finger gun motion, awkwardly bouncing on her heels. You furrowed your eyebrows a little in confusion.
”Yes?” You had no idea, but you sure hoped it was the right answer.
”Yeah! Yeah, they do. It’s—It’s actually the hairs... on-on the legs...” MJ kicked herself mentally from the ramble not realizing how adorable you found it to be. She scratched her neck, glancing up into the sky. What would be the odds of lightning striking down st her right now?
”Well, I have to go to practice”, you said, your voice accompanied by a disappointed sigh. ”But I’ll text you after. "Is that... cool?” you awkwardly offered, trying to stop the grin spreading too wide on your face and scaring the girl away.
MJ nodded, barely managing to speak before you already had to go to the field. She watched as you jogged away, hands in her hoodie pockets. Once she was sure she was alone she punched the air slightly.
"Yes", she exclaimed under her breath before turning around to walk back to the school bulding. At least she now had something to think about during her detention.
