SUMMARY:

Akechi killed him. That should have been the end of it. But here Akira was, wandering around with a vengeance and intentions of tormenting the detective.

takuto maruki has scars because of the whole merging with azathoth to become adam kadmon, more specifically both a neck scar and a hand scar (because of the whole staff thing)

the neck scar is obvious- but the hand scar is something i think would happen since maruki needs a direct connection to azathoth to do stuff (maybe like, in using actualization, he has an invisible tentacle somewhere wrapped on his body, adding more scars for every actualization he did; in real life, it isn’t visible, but in the metaverse, its visible type deal)

but also hear me out

the scar tissue would still hurt even it being cared for or appearing fully healed, like gentle movements make it ache- maybe there are more scars along maruki’s back because of reasons that are a combination of the neck and hand scars; he’s using actualization on so many people, and he needs a lot of power from azathoth to do it, but he can’t let people know that he’s using actualization

there’s criss-crossing lines, evidence of torn flesh and maybe even burns from intense persona usage, layer upon layer of scar tissue built up-

maybe maruki’s scars could last a few weeks, maybe years at best considering how many people he used actualization on, but the constant is that scars don’t heal as quicky as he thought, maybe he’s still suffering because he knows the scars are a testament to his connection with azathoth, for better and for worse

More from the submitter: ❝To elaborate, the Phantom Thieves will be tasked with stealing the hearts of all of Agent 47's targets from the main story of the World of Assassination Trilogy and dismantling the secret organization known as Providence. Meanwhile, Agent 47 will be tasked with assassinating all of the main human targets of the Phantom Thieves from within the original Persona 5 story and dismantling Masayoshi Shido's conspiracy to become Prime Minister. 🎃Whumptober Day 12: Insomnia (Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya x Reader)🎃

WARNING: Spoilers after the November 20 Interrogation.

It is pretty silent in Ren's room. You lay your head on Ren's head as you hold him closely. You can tell that he is still awake, since he is moving more than usual. It had been a few hours since you both called it the night. You run your fingers through his hair as you quietly hum, in hopes that this can make him fall asleep. After a few minutes you spoke up, "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No..."

"That's fine. Do you feel comfortable like this?

"Yes." His voice is slightly muffled due to his face against your neck. You smile as you continue to hold him close.

"Do you feel any pain or soreness?"

"Only some dull pain."

You hum in response, "Tell me when you need anything okay?"

"Alright."

You give him a kiss on the head and holds him tighter, "We can get through this." Ren holds you a bit tighter as you said this. Within a few minutes you can feel him starting to snore. You quietly chuckled to yourself as you kiss him on the head again.

Akechi needs to kill Ren, and Ren knows he doesn’t want to. But when Ren offers him warmth, Akechi doesn’t know what to do with it. He can’t have it. He won’t.

Finding a cure for someone they love, or perhaps even themself, through cruel experiments.

Torturing a nonhuman because they were maimed by another member of their species, blind with revenge. Maybe even regret, once the blood's spilled.

Deluding themself with black and white thoughts, thinking they can do no wrong no matter what, even through the begging.

Believing that what they do is justified, necessary even. Perhaps a necessary evil, if they're aware of just how cruel their actions are.

Absolute apathy to what they do, distancing morals from actions. Seeing it only as means to an end, taking neither shame nor pleasure in the dirty work.

Give your whumpers character. Break the reader by making a whumper someone they could have become, someone anyone could become given the right circumstances. Give them a face to an action, a mind to a movement, and don't let them slip away as an act of god, or a facet of a backstory.

Make them feel real.

Maruki, but he is more aware of his Actualization and its effects

i’ve been playing P5R for a while now, and the realization that i wasn’t entirely sure how aware Maruki was throughout P5R crossed my mind. and so here i am, a few hours later since i’ve been thinking about it, gonna share a few things i thought of.

might add more as time goes on, since Maruki’s still got lot of potential

TW: self-harm, magic whump

Maruki has some pent up anger on a few people, and sometimes his control on his anger slips so he, intentionally or not, projects thinly veiled threats into someone’s mind

He’s done it lots throughout 3rd semester, but he just puts on a nice smile in some weak effort to control himself. Lots of people don’t call him out on it as he rewrites reality as he pleases

Maybe his control fully slips, and he punishes some people for being defiant; I’ve been thinking that he did this (from least to most) to the Thieves, Akechi during the early days of 3rd semester, and especially Sumire

Poor girl got the brunt of the punishments because of how unstable her control was of Cendrillon, while Akechi was able to “defend” himself so to speak thanks to Loki

The punishment of the Thieves were more for security purposes, Maruki got paranoid on January 8th and gave himself some insurance. Though amongst themselves, Akiren and Morgana got the worst of it (while the least varied between Futaba, Haru, and Makoto).

And after all of 3rd semester, there’s going to be prolonged damage both on Maruki and all he inflicted these slips of anger on (Thieves, Akechi, Sumire, etc) and its similar to sound torture, but way worse

And post-3rd semester damage is focused on Maruki since he struggles to heal, being on his own and without a good support group

(Shibusawa and Akiren sometimes visit Maruki, but the two aren’t able to help him because of conflicts on their schedules. That leaves Maruki to be alone more often.)

There’s some days that feel like Maruki’s Actualization backfires on him

Like, he gets to have all of his fights played back to him from the perspective of the Thieves, and he realizes how far gone his grief and anger took him

Or maybe he still feels Azathoth’s presence, and as some messed up coping mechanism, he uses the fading power he once wielded to alter his own memories or create new ones where he felt “happy” or “free”

But this also backfires, like a harsh form of self-harm; Every time he rewrites any part of his memories, its like jamming a blade down his skull and carving letters into his brain

It’s enough to get him to stop, but sometimes he keeps going. But it all ends up with him keeping most of his memories from the past to replay in his head in the future. As a reminder of where he came from, of what he was supposed to be doing now.

aw hi! thanks for the ask! idk if these are in order but they're some of my faves! Gave a little bit of reasoning too for fun. surprisingly, choosing 5 was kind of hard, so my picks are probably kind of weird!

-Detective Conan

Love the couple episodes/chapters when Conan gets shot in the cave and then Ran gives him blood. Gotta also love when Shinichi shrinks back down into Conan <3 lots of good stuff in detco

-Vanitas no Carte

Every whump scene in vanitas is so good. of course you gotta love the blood drinking scenes, but i also really like when Vanitas is sick and being taken care of in the cabin

-Persona 5

Love the interrogation room scenes and the rescue afterwards <3 in both the game and anime

-Dragon Quest XI

probably a weird pick, but it got me back into whump a few years back! There's lots of scenes where the protagonist passes out and the like and i love it. it's a bit hard to recommend because it's so long, but it's an incredible game even without the whump!

obsessed with the scene in the first game where Makoto gets a concussion and is trying to stumble back to his room. And then like immediately after he gets all sick and delirious ^^

From Chapter 2 of my currently-updating fic, Where Hope Fades! I try to avoid giving spoilers as much as possible, so only short excerpts!

Instead, he tried to focus on what on earth could’ve happened to make her feel like that. Were the rumors about her really that bad?

Ryuji had turned pale upon Ren asking, and he got the impression that he shouldn’t ask again.

But no one else dared talk to him, so Ren was left in the dark about what rumors were circulating the students.

Aside from the rumors about himself. Unfortunately, he knew all too well what those were.

Rumors about how he had beaten a man within an inch of his life. Some people even claimed he’d actually killed him.

Rumors about knives and torturing animals.

Rumors about how he’d talked to that girl, and provoked her to…

Finally, mercifully, the final bell rang.

🎃Whumptober Day 13: “I don’t feel so good.”(Minato Arisato x Reader)🎃

Your bedsheets cover your entire body. The sun was shining brightly. If only it could make your feel better. You just had recently awakened your Persona. It had tired you mentally and physically. So here you are, laying face down in your new bed, and new room. There was a knock at the door, “Can I come in?” It was Minato, your friend.

“Yeah…”

The door opens and you can hear him approach the bed, “Are you feeling better.”

“I still don’t feel good man…”

He stays silent while he sits on your bed. A few seconds pass and he starts to softly pat your head.

You slightly move your head to get a small glance at him, “What are you doing?”

“I was hoping that this will make you feel better.” He bluntly stated, “Do you want me to stop?”

“No keep going.”

This keeps going for a few minutes. The gesture was calming and nice. Despite his seemingly cold demeanor, he is always so kind to you. You close your eyes and start to fall asleep.

With him by my side I will feel better no matter what.
