New College’s academic year ends with community-focused celebration of students
On the evening of May 18, over 400 members of the New College community—encompassing students, staff, faculty, alumni and parents—gathered at the Sarasota Art Museum to celebrate the graduation of the cohort of 2019. It was a ceremony held on their own terms, aptly titled [NEW] Commencement. In the words of co-organizer KC Casey (‘23), the student and alum-run celebration sought to make graduates…

drank too much
[ID: Digital Art of Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun Maximum. Vash’s body is turned slightly away from the viewer as he holds a staggering Wolfwood by his shoulder. He has one foot ahead of the other, the foot in the back used to stabilize himself from tipping over. Wolfwood is tethering into Vash, his weight pressed into him with his arms wrapped around Vash’s waist and his face is hidden away as he leans against Vash’s shoulder. Vash’s expression can be seen, his eyes wide and mouth tight-lipped, and his face is flushed red. A speech bubble comes out from Wolfwood, saying a drawled “Spikeyyy...”. The background are desaturated pastels of blue and green, showing night time, as they stand in the middle of an empty street that is also lit by the moon not depicted. Yellow light is seen coming from the inside of a saloon. End ID]

Zoro who one day realizes he's going to die and leave the crew. Who realizes he won't be able to protect them forever, who's back was always a sign of safety to the people he cared for. Zoro who can't fathom the thought of not dying first, because the very idea of seeing Sanji (or anyone of the crew) go first before him physical pain. Sometimes he can't let Sanji go in the mornings, pleads like he's a dying man in the sea and Sanji's a passing boat, he needs to have the dumb cook in his arms for just a little longer, just a few seconds more, and then maybe he can figure out how to make them both live forever. Sanji, who dies in his sleep, a smile on his lips and tears down his cheeks, held by the man he swore his heart to, and Zoro, who dies a few moments later, because following his blond was the only choice he had. Them, who still find eachother, over and over, no matter where or when.
Them, who die together, hand in hand, heart as one.

Spreading the Word
Just as prairie dogs bark to warn the colony of danger, many plants can signal their neighbors when they're under attack. This thale cress releases calcium when caterpillars eat it; neighboring plants pick up the chemical signal and pass it along. (Image and research credit: Y. Aratani et al.; via Colossal)

I feel like Danny should be followed around by an entourage of ghost blobs and ghost animals. I feel like he should be a fucked up little boy surrounded by death, forever stuck between worlds, frozen in time as life leaves him behind and death rejects him. As a treat.

Dwarf planet Eris is ‘squishier’ than expected
University of California, Santa Cruz Professor of Planetary Sciences Francis Nimmo recently co-authored a Science Advances paper about the internal structure of the dwarf planet Eris.
Eris is about the size of Pluto but around 50% farther from the sun.
The discovery of Eris in the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune in 2005 prompted the debate that ultimately reclassified Pluto as a dwarf planet.
It was an interest in Pluto that drew UC Santa Cruz researcher Francis Nimmo to study Eris.
Nimmo was visiting Michael Brown—one of the discoverers of Eris—at the California Institute of Technology about six months ago and realized some of Brown’s new, unpublished data could help reveal information about the properties of Eris.
The two worked on models for the next several months and published their results in a Science Advances paper. Two main pieces of information led to their results.
The first important clue is that Eris and its moon, Dysnomia, always face the same way toward each other.
The main, unexpected result of Nimmo and Brown’s model is that Eris is surprisingly dissipative, or “squishy”...

Some more W.i.p. drawings!!!
Epic boo'qwurm!! I love the design sm and I obviously had to draw it 💖🎀💖
NOT MY OC‼️‼️ This is a fanmade msm monster that I wanted to draw!! 💖💝
Old msm comfort oc I made a year ago named Remy or "The weeping Rabbit"
They are genderless, and they seem to really like the G'joob species a lot.
There's also a little song reference featured in this drawing :3 💝🎀💖
And lastly, another msm oc I created months ago but never had a chance to make an actual drawing out of him. His name is Odoben, and he was born with his horns, bassoon tusks, and even his own teeth and the spikes on his tail to be deformed, or look differently. He couldn't play music from his tusks, and was constantly made fun of for this. One day when Odoben was sitting alone under some Halleberries, a Bowgart saw him, and after he realized that Odoben couldn't produce any music, he offered him to use his cello for a bit. After that experience, Odoben had been inspired since to use the cello to create music. Many monsters had been against this, often trying to ruin his concerts and/or music auditions, but Odoben didn't care, nor did he give up. Now he was considered one of the best cello musicians on Plant Island ❤️
•Odoben enjoys spending his free time wandering in the forest to use his cello to play music to the forest and the creatures in it.
•Odoben has been a really big comfort oc to me for a really long time, and he still is ❤️
