This post wasn't planned; I felt a little down and went straight into fanfiction slumber, but I searched for gold and found diamonds. These three fics have entirely different Naruto and Sasuke, and I love everything about these fics.

Live a Little, Love a Little by Nomme_dePlume Kiba made sure he had Sasuke’s full attention. “For one week, you will follow your normal routine. But instead of getting shit-faced and leaving with a stranger, you’ll go easy on the alcohol and go home alone." - Slutty Sasuke and a darker version of Naruto. I love this kind of trope, but this fic is exceptional. Naruto's character is excellently written. He is an enabler here; he helps address Sasuke's issues with Itachi; he protects our black kitty and shows him his compassion. I think above all the worst misconception about a naruto character has to be a 31 year old obito still being in love with 14 year old rin. Not only does this go against obito's whole character past the third shinobi war but it's plainly disgusting that people think this about a middle aged man. I'm telling you now that rin was not the sole reason for Obito's hatred for the shinobi world she was just the catalyst for him agreeing to madara's plan, resulting in everything that happened.

It's just annoying to see this misconception even when within the manga itself obito has stated he isnt in love with rin anymore in his adulthood as he refers to his love of her in the past tense. It's just painful to see people forget that rin was his best friend, not just his crush. She was the first person in his life to introduce him to friendship and to truly believe in his abilities and dreams. They were eachothers closest friend within life, even if rin didn't reciprocate obito's feelings she still loved him and cherished him.

I see comments about obito being the ultimate simp or some shit like that and its infuriating to see this shit about such a complex character like obito, he's only wittled down to some guy in love who apparently caused a war only for her or kakashi's friend.

The conversation around Sasuke leaving Konoha needs to change. It's true that the in-story narrative by those who don't know Sasuke is that he is a traitor that betrayed Konoha. Unfortunately, too many in the fandom take this narrative at face value. But neither Naruto or Sakura endorse this view. Although they are confused by Sasuke's choice they both know Sasuke too well.

People talk about Sasuke choosing to leave Konoha...

But no one talks about how Itachi told Sasuke he'd come back to kill him someday. And Sasuke had very good reason to think that Itachi would target anyone Sasuke got close to.

Or how about how the curse seal would have killed Sasuke if it wasn't fully activated?

Or how Orochimaru made it clear he wasn't going to stop pursuing Sasuke? How long do you think it would have been till his patience ran out and he got tired of asking nicely?

Or how about the fact that he was found and targeted while he was in the village. The village couldn't protect him. Kakashi couldn't protect him. It's even the whole reason Naruto left to train, because the village wasn't safe enough. Naruto had people looking out for him. But Sasuke didn't. He is targeted multiple times and the village didn't take any action to protect him.

Yeah, Sasuke did make a choice. The right choice. He made the best choice he could make under the circumstances and no one-- not konoha, not Naruto, not Sakura--no one was hurt more by Sasuke's choice than it hurt Sasuke to make the choice to leave and live with one of his abusers. Yet he was the only person who offered to do anything to help him deal with his other abuser. It was horrible that Sasuke had to put himself through this second trauma... And yet the fandom has the audacity to make Sasuke's trauma about Naruto?? Or about Sakura?? Sometimes it really seems like no one in this fandom gives a crap about Sasuke unless it's to prop up their stupid ships. The fandom literally treats Sasuke like crap. Sasuke didn't leave because he wanted to. He wasn't being selfish or greedy. He just took stock of his situation and made the most viable choice he had. He wasn't happy that it was. He was willing to die for Naruto and Sakura. He valued them more than than his own life. Of course he wanted to stay. But he couldn't.

Ironically the fandom has compassion for Itachi for doing what he felt like he had to do, even though he actually killed people, and when he torments Sasuke, of course even then people actually focus on Itachi. But Sasuke did something that incidentally hurt Naruto and Sakura, do he's a selfish traitor. Sasuke didn't owe Naruto or Sakura. Yes, we see Naruto cared about Sasuke, but to Sasuke's face Naruto had treated him like he was a rival he wanted to overcome more than as a friend. And Sakura? He never started a relationship with Sakura. He may have felt guilty because he was abandoning his duty to Konoha.... the irony.

Sasuke lost everything once, and then he lost everything again when he was forced to leave it all behind. And it killed him. That Sasuke, the part one Sasuke who sometimes acted his age, he died. Sasuke killed him, so he could survive. It was yet another traumatic experience in his life.

That's the conversation we should be having about Sasuke leaving.

ANGRY NARUTO PROTECTS

I love Chiyo- and I kind of headcanon her as a Witch of the Woods (Sands???) archetype- a bitter old woman who has sacrificed too much, experienced and committed more atrocities than anyone can imagine, and who knows the truth about what lies in the hearts of men to live among the villages anymore.

In my AU she's got a pretty dark backstory. Back in time when Villages were just getting established, women weren't allowed to be shinobi in the same capacity as men. There was too much warring and death among the clans to risk women, so they were only ever allowed to serve as spies or medics. (Chiyo started off as a medic).

And like any military/fascist dictatorship, serving the state was more important than anything else- so women who were kunoichi were given missions to steal and return with powerful bloodlines. Even before villages, this was a common fear among clans (which is why so many of them have protective measures and inbreed/arrange matches very carefully).

Chiyo was one such woman, who took a X-rated mission in her youth because she was told it would 'serve her nation'. There was a powerful bloodline whose Kekkei Genkai could harden sand to something akin to Steel- something Suna very desperately wanted.

Chiyo succeeded in her mission, but despite the veneer of 'serving your nation', when she returned, she was considered, in her words, "Just another whore."

Then when her son didn't manifest the bloodline- it was worse, but Chiyo was happy because that meant her son was HERS. (This is when she met Enji, and he saved her son's life at great cost- so Chiyo owes him a blood/life debt.)

Then the war came, and they needed women to fight so now serving the nation meant something different, and Chiyo became a full fledged 'shinobi' and turned her healing towards poison and death- especially when she had to fight the Salamander.

Then she sealed Gaara and that was the atrocity straw that broke the camel's back and she dipped out Suna and retired to an oasis. She's still a healer, but adamantly refuses to serve shinobi.

naruto people need to become a bit more creative w their dreams for the future at some point i think like it cant be that literally every child who wants to make something out of themselves only dreams of becoming hokage. how about being a weapons manufacturer. build huge fucking scythes and kunais and other cool ninja shit. become a teacher. a trainer for magical animals. something like that. like something thats actually cool sgsgsgs and there cannot be 50 hokage per generation anyway

Danny was just minding his business retrieving something for clockwork in some gothic city in another dimension. He could admit opening the Infi-map and showing off the wierd purple doors inside it as he tried to make heads or tails of Clockworks newest riddle looked kinda sus from an outside perspective.

That didn't mean he expected getting jumped by colorful masked vigilantes.

Or for them to fight with eachother over turf.

Nor did he expect the map to get shot by one of them and the map to freak out and teleport all of them to a new unknown location. The biggest surprise was him and "Red Robin" he couldn't resist adding "Yum" after he introduced himself, much to the two vigilantes confusion recognizing one of Kakashis ninja dogs just staring at them tiredly before asking them why they were so close to the leaf village.

Then he asked what Phantom was. Crap. Crap. Crap. Danny decided it was a great idea to saybhe was a Yokai. For some reason.

He and Red Robin were freaking out for similar reasons and both wanted to gtfo of this dimension as quick as possible while Red Hood was just curious. Danny heard the oh so familiar sound of ninjas jumping through trees in the distance and grabbed both of the older guys before booking it with them, flying as far and fast as he could while maintaining intangibility.

If Danny disappears from thier camp and comes back a few hours later with a small blond boy and a teary eyed red haired boy then who could blame him?

Red Robin could. He didn't want to die.
