Draft - Ikemen Prince OCs

I finally chose names for them so I'll make this before I lose it as well. Just some basic image of the characters as they first came to mind. Subject to change

Here's the kingdoms draft

Carina - Princess of Indicolite. Studious, graceful, usually sweet and kind, but stands up to her problems, very emotional

Linet - The princess guard. Friendly and calm , has strong protective instincts (in fact she's a version of another OC adapted for Prince, but I'm still working out the differences)

Yara - The princess' maid and best friend. Caring, a little playful, somewhat competitive, very cheerful, dreamy and imaginative

Everytime I get into an mascot-horror type story/arg that presents the company and characters as “some huge thing of the past, now completely forgotten- the main character is uncovering stuff again” I always wonder what’s the online impact of it besides just fully forgotten

On one hand I know not everything is on the internet. A lot of shows and old media really are forgetting forever.

…But on the other hand I just know some, just one of these, HAVE to have someone who was to be obsessed to it to the point of creating some “hey remember this from our childhoods- what happened?” youtube video. Or someone writing and posting fanfic, making art no matter how obscure the franchise was. Or at least someone who DID do that years ago, and that stuff is still floating out there on the internet sphere.

At least with the args I’ve touched upon I haven’t seen the possibility of the main character finding out more (or even finding answers to some mysteries) via some randomly-obsessed internet stranger.

Or going the route of making a post, and video online and trying to find information there. Potentially collaborating with popular youtubers for help. Maybe it’s just because I follow too many youtube commentators who make videos on old/nostalgia content so it’s skewing my perception but…idk

Writing tip #1 :

Replace "perfect" with "enjoyable". If you can enjoy reading your own story, then you have achieved the primary purpose of the "perfect" story.

What do you wear to shul/think is appropriate based on what your community typically wears? Whenever I look this question up, the results are vague. Currently freaking out about what to wear to shabbat services 😭

So my community is nominally conservative, though it's sort of a traditional egalitarian shul. We don't really enforce any gendered mitzvot, and in fact, it's not unheard of for some of the women to do things like wear a kippah (it's a little uncommon because it is based on if they choose to).

While there are no expectations for gendered dress, it's still a convention many people at my shul follow. If you're someone who likes feminine dress, you could wear a long skirt with a longer-sleeved shirt, for example, or a dress. That's a very classic, jewish feminine way that the women in my shul often dress. Jeans aren't uncommon whatsoever, to be clear, but in many ways, it's a safe bet if you lean femininely. The men in my shul most often wear jeans and some sort of nice, nondescript shirt, however. It's acceptable to wear jeans, though if you have slacks, that certainly doesn't hurt. Polos are something I often wear, but honestly, I have also just worn plain tshirts whenever I'm running late.

Honestly, so long as your dress is modest, you most likely will fly under the radar. Traditional conventions of modesty include things like covering the knees, elbows, and the collarbone. More traditional shuls might prefer you to cover your head with a kippah if you're masculine, and if that's the case, I can say I've never been to a shul without a small basket of kippot for you to borrow.

it’s kinda funny to me how that dumb scene in kiwami 1 of majima getting shot and left for dead in the harbor was basically just added as a half-assed way to explain majima not being around for a bit of the plot, but they accidentally(?) just made it seem like start of a chain reaction where majima ended up feeling slighted and heartbroken after being abandoned like that and then lashed out about it via smashing a big truck into the building kiryu was in. and yeah that isn’t inherently a romantic thing as-is but then they go and add the part where majima grabs a hostess and performatively hits on her as in-kiryu’s-face as possible, she says she’s already in love with someone, and majima lets her go immediately, no questions asked, making a big fucking point of it just to say see THAT kiryu? I appreciate when people are HONEST about their FEELINGS. people who won’t just BACKSTAB someone who CARES about them to save themselves. is that so crazy kiryu?? huh??? anyway make it up to me get down here and fight me right fucking now

So, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. Like, a lot of thinking. I’m not decided between being cis or trans or anything like that, but… I think I might switch to using she/her? Is that weird? A guy using she/her?

…I dunno. I just like it better, I think. I’m still only considering it, but… I’m very on the fence. I don’t even know if that’s allowed.

i have a few george blurbs coming up for my kinktober, and i’ve admittedly never written for him before! i was wondering if the #1 george writer herself had any tips or pointers for writing him, how he acts ect 😌

I was literally just stalking your kinktober list and literally let out a little squeal at the fact there are George things in the works omgomg we love the GR exposure! So excited!!

In all honesty, the best tip I can give you, is watch interviews and videos! Don't listen to what he says as much as how he says it; how he says it with his mouth, with his hands, the movement of his eyes, his head. I've noticed he's really into eye contact. Even in interviews he'll just stare almost unblinking at the person talking and then generally look away when he starts to answer/is in thought (most often he looks to his left? See here. I'm not creepy, I swear). Recently I've noticed if he's surprised, he'll repeat what the person said in a bit of a higher tone (see here or here). Did I mention eye contact? Eye contact.

OH and he has very pronounced and expressive eyebrows. Eyebrow furrow is a must in situations that warrants it in writing him. Confusion, concern, focus - could be a good one. Little tongue between the lips in concentration, eyebrows furrowed in focus... ahem. Again, you can kind of extrapolate this information if you watch some interviews on mute and just watch his expressions. That's my best suggestion for body language and subtle actions that can really make his character.

I'm no professional at British terminology/dialects (I'm far too Canadian for that) so I kind of just wing it based on what I gather from videos of him talking. I often try to make his dialogue a bitttt more formal sounding because he seems to really enunciate sometimes which is better expressed in writing through the odd removal of a contraction (don't vs do not) but only very, very sparingly because he's also not from the 19th century LOL.

I know he has silly sayings sometimes which I use only once or twice in a piece of writing, often as a fleeting insight into his persona or as comedic relief just for the reader but definitely not too often and not as the focus (and tbh I just wrote him unironically saying "it's raining cats and dogs out there" in my current WIP which feels so on point for him imo lmao idioms are good ones).

I also see him very polite in public, watching his words, his swearing to a minimum if at all - but then in private I think he can swear like a fucking sailor but would never let the world know that of course. Take that as you will in regards to smut writing ahem.

And for smut more specifically, I definitely see him leaning into that auditory side, really into that low, rolling, husky dirty talk. Lots of sweet pet names, very soft dom if you're going dom (I'm very exited to see which way you take the body worship one-). As a reference, I think my best George smut for dirty talk etc. (based on my own bias as well as reader feedback) is this one. I don't really see him into hard kinks and things but sometimes that's fun to explore too so all the power to you if that's in your plan!! We put the fiction in fanfiction after all [and once I get an answer out of IRL him on where he stands on the BDSM scale, I'll get back to you. I mean what-]

i am perhaps more amenable than a lot of people to the characterization of history as 'fiction', but that's because i think the really strident knee-jerk denial of that concept leads to a lot of weird appeals to objectivity or platonic truth or normative/pseudo-scientific forms of historical writing as un-stylized, or un-aesthetic. and i think all those reactions can lead to a very complacent and unintentional engagement with history as a discipline.
