Morgana squirmed uncomfortably. She was sitting up in her bed. "That's not true, Morgause. I trust you. You're my sister and you saved me. But I'm afraid things will go wrong again. And I don't want Arthur or Gwen or innocent people to get hurt. Can we think of another way to defeat Uther...?"

Morgause released her, sighed heavily, and sat down next to her. "You're making things harder, Morgana. I didn't expect that of you after everything you've gone through."

"Please, don't think that I don't want to help, sister. I'm just..." Morgana smiled nervously.

"Alright. Here, take this, I prepared this tincture to make the remnants of the poison evaporate from your body faster." She held out a small brown glass vial to Morgana.

Morgana hesitated only for a moment, but it didn't escape Morgause's attentive gaze. "You trust me, don't you?"

"Of course." Morgana quickly drank the contents of the vial, then lay back down and covered herself with a blanket. Her eyelids grew heavy under the sleeping herbs that smelled of July dusk.

"Sleep, little sister." Morgause gently stroked Morgana's black wavy tresses, "This night will be hard on you, sorry. But it is for the good. You will always trust me from now on, and we will be well."

Morgause stood up. She had done this before; she once helped her poor sister make the right choice, guiding her. But now it was time for more drastic measures; she has waited too long and worked too hard to allow this opportunity to pass her by because of the girl's fears. The High Priestess placed a metal bowl on the table by the bed, put a mandrake root in it and set it on fire. Its viscous smoke would help Morgana find her way and never doubt again. Never.

One day I’ll be praising Merthur on their sassy dynamic & their stupidity with each other

Gwencelot is the most iconic knight x servant stuff I’ve ever seen (also: hello bi panic)

I read a fanfic with Morgana/Gwen/Lancelot & I gotta admit I was intrigued: you have 2 good souls on the 1 hand & a crazy bad bitch on the other to balance her out

Merdred is also super interesting bc they only have the enemies from enemies to lovers BUT there’s a chance for them to work ok (thank you fanfic writers, you all are a god sent)

There was also some tension with Morgana/Morgause (I know they’re sisters but you can’t deny there were certain undertones)

Lancelot/Arthur (Arcelot?? Arthcelot? Arlot? Arlance?) would also be an exciting knight x prince dynamic (you know the one. Where he says „my lord“ but actually means „my love“ uggghhh I can’t handle it). You could also twist the whole fiasco with their conflict over Gwen into a love story between the 2 & just say that Arthur had been jealous of Gwen OVER Lancelot

And when we’re already here: Arwencelot would just fix all the drama. Not to mention that they would give me bi panic & Gwencelot‘s healthy/calm aura could really make a better man out of Arthur & help him to grow out of his father’s shadow

I'm glad to find your blog, I can finally talk about Uther x Morgana, I think the best Subtext Father-Daughter incest

This will be long but I hope you are ready and I want to see your opinion on the matter

The love-hate that this relationship has is the basis of everything in the end, especially the character of Morgana

Because many misinterpret their relationship, since it is extremely romantic but tragic

It all starts with Morgana telling Arthur "I can't imagine a man loving me so much" when in the end that man was Uther

Uther at the beginning showed very "little" concern for Morgana, you can even see evidence that he wanted to marry her to Arthur (even though they were her brothers).

But that changed little by little and he was the one who became more obsessed (in love) with Morgana.

Since the chapter "to kill a king" where Morgana and he have a great moment, since that day if you pay attention, Uther rarely did anything to Morgana

He tried to be the same with her, but at the end of the day, he always gave in to Morgana and put her as number 1 priority.

-He knew that Morgana freed that bandit magician, but he didn't tell her anything about her, when the druids "kidnapped" her… He mobilized her entire kingdom for her

We have the phrase that Morgana said to Morgause "Uther hates magic more than he loves me" and that is one of the fundamental points, Morgana has no faith in the love that Uther has for her… that's why lives resentful with him, she wants Uther to love her above all things

The tragic thing is that once again Uther showed that he is even willing to sacrifice Arthur for Morgana, again this image from the third season where in their meeting they even used a Romantic Soundrack, says everything about their relationship

We also consider that Uther has already ruled out marrying Morgana to Arthur, but at the same time… he doesn't look for a partner for Morgana, let's consider that she is of marriageable age.

Because he wants to marry Arthur twice, that is, you have to add 2 + 2 to understand why he keeps Morgana for himself

We even see Morgana's anger rise when she discovers that she is the daughter of Uther… but the "Throne" thing is an excuse, because she is an illegitimate child and she is a woman, so even if she was recognized, she wouldn't could inherit

The real reason… is because now she "can't be with Uther" because they are "family", once again their conversation is very meaningful

She tells him that now she found out how important Uther and Arthur are to her…but at the same time she tells Uther that she wants the town of Camelot to know it too…but Uther says that the town already knows.

Look at this part, they both look so in love and I will always say that part of Morgana's plot was the evil side of her fighting with the good side of her and the side of her that was in love with Uther

Her disappointed face when Uther does not want to clarify what relationship they have more than that he is "her guardian"

Now how can we forget how the third season had so many couple moments, that it was ridiculous and many of the critics pointed it out

That's why she left Uther alive and kept him prisoner under the pretext of making him "suffer" she want that, but at the same time she didn't want to kill him.

Because when Uther dies… all she feels is empty void and holds back her tears in front of Agravaine, which once again reveals much of his true feelings.

That was long, but if we add to what the Actress said, I think the definitive subtextual incest of the Merlin series

It was Morgana and Uther, but in a tragic way

What a great write-up of their relationship, thank you so much for doing that and providing so many shippy-as-heck images. Some of those are almost unbelievable. I love your interpretation. I'm not an expert on this show, I don't think I've seen every episode, and it was a long time ago, but I do think you're write that Morgana's feelings that Uther doesn't love her very much drive a lot of her arc. I'm hesitant to say it's what the writers intended (just because it' seems unlikely, not because of the evidence), but you make an excellent case for it being romantic and subtext. I'm happy either way. It's making me itch to rewatch.

I like what Merlin BBC did with Morgana/Uther a lot more than other versions of these characters from the myths.

Okay so I actually didn’t rememberd much about Vivian not under the spell so i went to watch this episode (as you can see from post i rebloged before answering xD). And i’m responding from my laptop now bc i’m still scrolling through ‘merlin 2x10′ tag at my phone.

First and most important: leave my boy Lancelot be. #gayrights Only straight ship i see him in is Gwencelot (which i love with my whole heart).

LADY VIVIAN AND LEON. LADY VIVIAN AND LEON! Oh yeah this one. Definitely this one. With how she is annoying at the beginning of the episode he could be annoyed not only with knights at the daily basic but with her too. Absolutely amazing. I know he deserves a break from what he already has at his plate but we don’t have this in this fandom, oh we so don’t have it. And I’m so suprised by this ship and by how well they fit in my head.

But. We hear more than once in this episode that she is too young. For love and for knowing antyhing about it. So yeah, few years older Vivian, more mature, not so rude but still annoying. Perfect paring with Leon. You know hate-love relationship.

With Morgana this will work too. But this one from before she got evil not after.

Morgana and Leon? No, noooo, absolutely no.

Morgana and Lancelot? Which Morgana? Good one? Evil one? That’s hot. Not like Evil Gwen x Evil Lancelot hot, but hot too. They didin’t actually have any relation before 4x09 so i think exploring that with any of the combination could be interesting. (It’s still #gayrights for my boy at the top of the podium, with Gwencelot (any combination) at second, but yeah he and Morgana - they can have and definitley are 3rd place).

Vivian and Sophia. Well Sophia was charming and putting away her manipulating her father i really liked the girl. This could work good too. Ya know by now #gayrights :D

My Merthur and Merlin sexuality headcanons

Merlin: bisexual and genderfluid. You can’t give me him dressing up as a woman and be caught holding so many dresses in canon and not have him be genderfluid. Also I hate how his canon relationship with Freya and his crushes on Sefa, Morgana, the disguised Nimueh, the troll pretending to be Catrina, and Gwen are erased and he’s just seen as gay. Especially with his raised eyebrows reaction whenever Mithian arrives at Camelot or when he sees Isolde with a sword. He even thought Vivian was beautiful till he learned how rude she was. Just because he didn’t fall under the Lamia’s spell (it’s literally because of his magic not because he’s not attracted to women, he didn’t fall asleep during the sleeping spell in the pilot either, that’s how his magic works!) and just because he got so obsessed with one man (Arthur) doesn’t mean he’s only interested in men. He’s immortal so why would he limit himself to only having relations with one gender for eternity? Or care about his own gender? 

Arthur: gay or bisexual. This one is harder for me because he’s so repressed that I can see him just being gay and also every relationship he’s had with a woman in canon has either been the result of an enchantment (ex: Sophia and Vivian) or there was just no chemistry and it seemed like it would be a friendly platonic marriage for the good of Camelot (ex: Gwen, Elena, and Mithian). But him being bisexual makes sense to me too. Maybe he’s demisexual and just can’t feel that way about anyone till he’s emotionally connected with them and that’s why it seems like he only has romantic and sexual chemistry with Merlin. 

Morgana: I headcanon her as aromantic and asexual most of the time. I can accept and read fics where Morgana is Arthur’s straight sister though because I know she had crushes on men in canon and because Katie McGrath had chemistry with Colin and Bradley and Eoin. However I can only read fics where Morgana is Arthur’s straight sister when she is shipped with certain men who I think she would actually respect and find attractive (Merlin, Gwaine, and Will if he survived). Most of the time I just can’t see her being interested in a relationship with anyone and only finds people attractive aesthetically. I feel like she probably went through a phase thinking she was a lesbian because she wasn’t interested in marrying a man but then she was like wait I’m not interested in being with a woman either... what am I?

Lancelot and Gwen: the straight couple in the group. I just didn’t get the vibe that Lancelot had a thing for Merlin, I feel like he just saw him as a little brother and I didn’t really get Morgana x Gwen either. 

Percival: straight. I didn’t really see the chemistry between Percival and Gwaine.

Gwaine: bisexual.

Leon: the longsuffering asexual friend waiting for Merthur to happen. 

Elyan: ace.

Mordred: gay. I ship him with Daegal.

Princess Elena and Lady Vivian: lesbians.

Connie Halliwell, one of a set of triplets.    She is of course the middle triplet, trying to keep Peter and Melinda from inflicting too much chaos.     There was that time where she and Melinda ended up in the 1940s (not by their choice) and she went on a date with the early Sergeant James Buchannan  Barnes.    Since getting back home she designs period costumes and clothing.    She still tries to keep her siblings from breaking the universe.

Peter Halliwell, the actual youngest of the set of triplets.     He has always had far too much of his parents in him.    He will do his job as a protector but he prefers helping, working with his hands.    It’s why he went into carpentry.    He is not the kind to take anything sitting down, if you rile him up--be sure you are ready to face his mother’s temper he inherited. Patricia Wolf, she was born from a one night stand between her mother Melinda Halliwell and @schwarzerengeltm.    There was much debate about the dangers of letting her live, but the Halliwells put a stop to that talk.   Patty was well loved by both of her parents even if her parents didn’t love each other.    Despite many assumptions, she turned out to be a kind person much to the shock of many. Wolfgang “Wolfie” Wolf, or as his elder sister jokingly calls him “Moon Moon”.    He is exactly what the Elders feared would happen.     He has just enough Whitelighter and Darklighter to make him a threat.     However, unlike his mother and sister, he refuses to get mired in politics of good and evil.     If someone wrongs his family however, he will impale you with the fence he was just sitting on. Jonny Murdock, the younger twin brother of Jack Murdock.     While he appreciates what his brother is doing--he has no desire to join him in becoming the devil or any variation.    Jonny protects innocents as he comes across them like his family before him as well as taking his grievances to the ring where he can let the Devil out. Wanda Maximoff, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.    After she was forced to face her grief and give up the world she created.     She has been looking for understanding and her only resource was the Dark Hold.     In her main verse, she is reunited with her children and Vision because Melinda is persistent.   (RP on Request only)

Anna Smith, an AU version of Morgana’s ending story.    Morgana was incapable of compassion because of Morgause’s mechaniations seperating Morgana into two people.    The Morgana of later seasons of Merlin BBC was the darker half, all the good stripped from her.     The good part was sealed away by a spell, only to awaken in the modern day.       She has no idea what her darker half has done. Sounds easy right? Well... enter Arthur, the stuck up (and annoyingly attractive) captain of the ice hockey team, and things get a bit more interesting.

Merlin and Arthur reach the island's shore. There seem to be no beasts in the immediate vicinity, so Arthur takes a moment to catch his breath. "When—did you learn—to do that?" he gasps, hands on his knees. He's so used to Merlin fleeing the moment a battle begins that he's just as shocked by his fearlessness as he is by the magic.

Merlin's expression looks absolutely pained. "I've had lots of practice," he says. "I mean I've had lots of practice. Arthur, you should know. You deserve to know. There is one more thing I lied to you about, and I have to tell you, I have to tell you right now, but I—I—"

Merlin is trembling head to toe. Alarmed, Arthur reaches for him, grabs his shoulder to brace him up. "It can't possibly be worse than any of the others," he tries to joke, but Merlin's expression warns him that it is. Whatever it is has Merlin so frightened that it is making Arthur afraid, too. "Merlin—what is it? Please tell me. I want you to tell me."

"I want to," Merlin gasps. "I've tried over and over. But I—Arthur, I'm—I have—"

"Arthur Pendragon!"

Merlin and Arthur look up. Standing atop one of the tallest towers, now dressed in full armor and looking utterly impervious to the cold, is Morgause.
