Hey everyone! I've recreated and combined two of my old custom subway lots into a small lot size so they can be easily placed anywhere. This lot is great, especially for RP players like me who enjoy making a trip out of taking a train in the game.

I enjoy creating custom rabbit holes and a subway is the easiest of them all, especially with perfect subway/train CC created by amazing creators that you can easily use in your game. Although most of them are décor, so you mostly see Sims admiring them all over the place, I decided to place the subway in a small park for this specific lot. You can let your Sims enjoy the park, read a newspaper, drink coffee and even eat at a food cart before taking the train to work or heading home. To enhance the experience, you can also make the newspaper shop functional by using either Ani's Shop from Inventory mod or PJSims Functional Newspaper Stand mod. I have placed most of ATS3 Newspapers Kiosque's chest-like CCs, where you can store buyable newspapers and have your Sims buy their newspapers there. If you want to go this route, don't forget to download the buyable newspapers from this link to add them to your game. If you prefer the Functional Newspaper Stand, you can go to the link provided above and follow the instructions carefully to make it work in your end. 📣I've used Jynx's Subway Station rug and placed it in the next compartment of the train. As usual, I've provided links for different RH rugs/doors that you can choose from or that are compatible with your game. Don't forget to name your Subway station and make sure to place two subways in your world for it to function. 📣Please note that the store content and CC included in the lot are not included on the download file. Place Desmoules: Enjoy French city living!

Hi guys!

So, today, only one lot... But it's a beast of a lot!

Wecome to Place Desmoules, one of the main urban (and let's face it, exceedingly French) hub of Vogoelian activities that don't involve fish.

Well, mostly. I've had sea food adventures before, so I wouldn't bet too much on the doctor and the pharmacy about that. But otherwise? all clear.

So, as you can see, we have the Petit Corse restaurant RH on one side. It goes well with the town, and let's face it, I'm not a fan of herding cats, so the TS3 restaurants efforts never filled me with joy.

But there is plenty more action!

So, pharmacy, with shop AND lab at the back.

Next door:

It's a big shop, empty at the moment because I intend to do a kind of mini departement store in there, but there is already enough CC in there.

So I left it empty, and then we can all run amok with our stuff as we like (Hello, Pat!)

Then we get to the back, Place Desmoules, with a nice café and a beauty salon, before going to your medical appointement (and of which I forgot to take a photo, crappydoo)

Well, it's up there on the first floor.

Anyway, once you've done all that hard work, you might notice a little place:

Welcome to La Trompette Bouchée, the local jazz club, with local artists and also local and maybe fishy snacks.

Very atmospheric.

With quite a big scene, so if there is a passing acrobat or magician...

As you may have noticed, there are more Frenchy lots awaiting, some residential with PNG lodgins and attachet business... but also WIP at the moment.

Now, most of the chucktown of CC in there is @aroundthesims... I've haven't down loaded everything, but close.

Well, first, I have a thing for silly French puns, so you have to suffer. Sorry not sorry.

Second, story time:

I told you, Vogoel les Mouettes had a small Pirate problem, some time ago...around 260 of those, which lands us in 1764.

King Louis XV "le bien aimé" who at the time was getting on years, and a nation who had an incredible sense of style (my fafourite!), but a lot of money problems.

Just to say that Pirates in the Caraibianswe can deal (by ignoring it, mostly), but right next door? soething had to be done.

Enter one pink satin frocked Pierre Desmoules, Chevalier du porte Jarretelle, to command an army... well, a flotilla... 3 ships? AND to solve the problem.

When the Pirates stopped laughing he got trounced.

Now, never underestimate the guile of a French aristocrat when his wallet is at risk. Pierre Desmoules brevet de Capitainerie may have been spanking new (and expensive), but he was not an idiot.

So he made a deal with the Pirates.

The Pirates kept pirating, and Pierre not looked the other way, but transported the goods to be sold on the mainland (for a small cut of profit, of course)... since the goods suddenly became legal, they fetched a far better price than stolen merchandise, and everybody was happy.

The king had "beaten" the Pirates, said Pirates made tons of cash, and papa Desmoules, a sea trader, had a lot of fine stock to sell.

End of story, but we are likely to meet the Desmoules family again in the future.

ej's adventures in romance: the good, the bad, the ugly

i've had kindle unlimited for the few months, and have been on a deep deep dive into all the recs from the romance genre that i can get my grubby little paws on. I've read.... many, many books. so many.

I've made a rec list of my new fave authors in the genre before, and this is not that. I'm just gonna list what I've read, by tropes, with ratings, and you can read my full reviews on goodreads. I've gone there. there are quite a few of the booktok hits here, because they came up on rec lists, and I'm gonna give my honest opinions on them okay. my goodreads!

Before we get down and dirty, have my actual recs from the last month: Heather Guerre remains a diamond in the rough, although she can now be joined by a further two authors: Kathyrn Moon (smutty RH queen) and Zoey Draven, a surprise last minute entry that doesn't shy away from darker themes, but handles them maturely.

other recs are the obvious: Talia Hibbert, Katee Roberts, and our very own @dominimoonbeam (whose book Doors I've been reccing a LOT lately, as I love it so much, and the sequel will be out soon >:3)

the "grovel" trope

books where the MMC fucks up and tries to make up for their mistakes. a good read where you get a healthy dose of angst and then a lot of making up for it. can be a great cathartic read.

Cate C. Wells has a whole series dedicated to this, "the five packs", one of which I already recommended as a guilty pleasure: the lone wolf's rejected mate". Now look, these books are ridiculous, the worldstate is terrible, each pack is a dude fest that reeks of misogyny, but they're pretty fun. I've read book 1 and book 3. I want to stab the MMC of book 1 with a rusty spork. you can skip it.

the lone wolf's rejected mate however is a ride, with a broken MMC who rejects his soulmate because he thinks he's too broken (literally, his wolf tries to kill her), and then they get captured, save each other, and he builds her a treehouse, yada yada. mind the content warnings, but if you want to read something OTT that basically epitomises the craziness that is the PNR and "grovel" romance genre, read this, and hold onto your butts.

the paranormal romance genre: shifters, vampires and more

Heather Guerre's books. okay, so actual recs. She focuses on characters from working class backgrounds with a sprinkle of the paranormal thrown in, everyone is over the age of 25 (thank god, most are in their 30s), and she can really write. I won't tag Eeshley again, but the "Tooth and Claw" series was their rec and *chefs kiss*. this is still the self-published romance genre, so these books could use an editor/polish, but honestly, I'm a big fan of her writing, and have picked up all her books. (her contemporary romance is also excellent.)

post-apocalyptic trope

Claire Kent's books. Imagine Joel from the last of us as a book series. I've only read Last Light so far, which is the prequel to a longer series that explores life in america 5+ years after an asteroid collides with western europe, causing global environmental catastrophes. I'm not 100% sold on her world building, but this is a romance novel, and the way she writes the characters and their relationships are human and organic, and the most realistic I've come across so far. the world state is the walking dead, with evil biker gangs that rape and pillage. i'm assuming this is an american thing, but can't comment on what it'd be like in the UK considering we no longer exist, due to aforementioned asteroid collision. probably for the best.

omegaverse and reverse harem tropes

yeah, I thought omegaverse was just a fanfic thing too. it's not, and it is super prevalent in het romance. it was never really my thing in fanfic, and the fact it is not a shifter thing was very surprising to me, as knots/packs/heat/rut still exist, but it's just humans with animalistic traits. I kept on waiting for the motorcycle gang in 'baby and the late night howlers' to turn into wolves, and they never did.

So Kathryn Moon writes some delicious reverse harem books. I read the first of monsterfucker series 'a lady of rooksgrave manor' years ago, and liked it, although there wasn't enough plot for me to continue. she writes excellent smut. Seriously, just really, really good smut. BIG FAN. I've been making my way through her 'Sweetverse' series, which has more connections and actual relationships between the characters, and polymances, and I recommend starting with Lola + the millionaires, if you can handle a little omegaverse. mind the content warnings, this is a book about recovering from trauma, which happened in the first book (baby's book, although offscreen. Lola has a lot of flashbacks in italics.)

Otherwise, you can stick with the monsterfucker books! I bought her latest monster series off of regular kindle, instead of KU, and I'm really excited to read it hehehe

"mars need more women" and "fated mate" tropes

hehehe okay HERE WE GO. these books are all about women ending up on planets where due to some sort of cataclysmic event - disease, mostly - 80% of the female population of the planet has died. now as we're not here for angst, the arrival of these women are usually due to some other species abducting them, and they are then "rescued" or recovered after a crash on metaphorical mars, which needs a better sex ratio to ensure the survival of the species.

this trope is coupled with "fated mate" tropes, where basically the rescued/recovered women end up with a devoted alien husband, who yearns until he can win her over (we're all about consent here folks)

the ice planet barbarians series by ruby dixon. this is basically na'vi aliens that crashlanded on an ice planet 250 odd years ago, and have made it their home, living in tribal colonies. to survive in this planet's toxic atmosphere, they've taken in a native parasite called a 'khui' which helps their bodies adapt to the climate and atmosphere. the women in the books also receive the same parasite to survive (they're given the choice), and this is the basis of the "mate bonds" formed throughout the series.

now book 1 is a rocky start, and the weakest of the series. I nearly put it down because of the first 20 pages. you can skip the first 20 pages. it basically recounts the abduction of the women from their home planet, and mistreatment by their captors (tw for sexual assault of a side character, not explicit). the ship malfunctions, and the women "cargo" are dropped onto the ice planet, where they are found by the not-na'vi, who are called sa-khui, because of the parasite.

now the rest of the series is about adapting to life on an alien planet, understanding the culture of the sa-khui, and gaining a devoted alien hubby. look, I read four books in a week. they're fun, they're exciting, the smut is good, and it's an easy read. it's also written by an experienced and practiced author, as the topics are handled maturely, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and it has great representation.

(one of my favourite books in the series, book 7, is centred around Lilah, who was born deaf and had a cochlear implant that was surgically removed during the abduction. the book focuses on her struggling to adapt to life on the planet, aided by a sa-khui that rescues her and learns ASL to communicate, and it's an excellent read okay)

I'd say read book 1 (maybe skipping first 20 pages, or even to part 2) for context, read book 2 (my favourite of the series omg), and then pick and choose from there!! I've read 1,2,4,7, and I'm gonna end up coming back for more hehehe.

"choosing theo" is another in this genre, but it didn't quite vibe with me. it leans into the 'rescued human ends up on a planet that needs women for propagation', with a matriarchal society where the men go to husbandry school to learn how to please women, and all residents of the planet are required to participate in three month long marriages to try to find potential mates to propagate the species. the premise is a fun one, but the first book is not the strongest, and I didn't continue from there. (another rusty spork for the MMC...)

dothraki in space trope

we're at the end of my trope list! I liked the ice planet barbarian series a lot, and I'd kept on seeing the Horde Kings of Dakkar by Zoey Draven recommended, and they are good. (thank you woofs >:3) think dothraki from GoT in space; humans live in small, poorly maintained colonies on the Dakkar planet, where they aren't allowed to hunt or damage the earth. offenses are punishable by death. these books lean into the captive trope, and handle the issues of the worldstate and navigating cultural differences super well, with a heavy dose of consent and BAMF heroines that rise up to their situation and make a place for themselves in their new (objectively better) lives.

i'm on book two now, and I love the maturity in the characters and the writing (which I did not find in 'choosing theo'), and they're an excellent romp. fantastic rec, really glad I picked this up >:3

am I finally going to take a break from my reading binge now? I keep on saying I will, and then not doing that ahahahaha. my kindle library is still stuffed full, mainly with other books from my fave authors above, but also some nice space horror to round it off.

next on my list is gonna be either 'Haunt, Heart, Havoc', a horror romance that I've been meaning to read forever, or 'Dead silence', which is aliens meets titanic in space. >:3 if you read all of this, KUDOS TO YOU, have a lovely sunday ahahaha!

I was very skeptical about it, and I've remained so in current canon (I do not care for ~babsgirl's characterisation). BUT, of all things, reading Wayne Family Adventures made me ship it all of a sudden!

I guess issue 53 (the one where Barbara finds Jason's dating profile) kind of... planted he seeds. then issues 95, 96, and 104 added some edges I could easily exploit for angst reasons and thus did the rest lol. basically, their dynamic is what jumps most at me in that webtoon.

I have yet to give a lot of thought abou how I'd write the ship myself in the new earth continuity, which is my bread and butter. oracle!barbara, red hood (or pre-rh)!jason... it's something that interests me and that I can see happening but I don't have anything solid yet. at most I'm getting a vague idea at this very moment lol, about oracle and lost days!jason somehow crossing paths (maybe with talia making sure it happens without either knowing she has a hand in it lol), but that's about it. I would probably include subtle references to those WFA issues just to give them a shout-out lol.

their possible dynamic interests me because they've taken opposites approaches to their trauma, in certain respects, and because they have some history together (even if I DON'T think it's quite what they showed us. gotham knights social services arc my beloathed xP). I would have to do more character/ship work on this front to really envision what they could be, but it's a ship that's now caught my eye, for sure.

UH THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONMG POST IM SO SORRY!!!

So the only stuff I've currently shared things of (like doodles) are:

Dancing Light - "rhythm metroidvania" I'm rewriting this + it's cousin story to include new themes (basically the world actually being loosely connected to a mind/person you dont exactly get to see) but the basic gist is that, the protagonist, Vene (V) is a "rebirth" of the Candle (you can loosely compare this to Avatar TLA/LOK if you want! To make a balance in the world..) Eir job is go re-light the Lamps across the land and hunt down Intrusive Darkness- which are like sillay monsters ey literally hunt and EAT!

The world they live in functions its gears better with music, like an encourgement to work. (Which darkness' songs have warped it to) But, V actually can't sing well and, despite being the chosen one, V is inherently disadvantaged to past incarnations of the candle. (Disabled coded) BUT!!! Vene's friends contribute a melody to help power V through the adventure! And the idea is as the party grows, so does their hunting songs. They're like punchy toony creatures I'd love as a children's game.. They're sillay and argue a lot but are good kids and YEAH!!!!

The villains / bosses are "the archetypes" (placeholder) and they're basically giant "god equivalents" haunting the land. Or sort of reclaiming it. They actually broke it apart into 2.5D space- residing in the dark oceans/canyons between the broken layers!

V - Protagonist / Player. The Candle, brings balance. An enraged child who will not let fate write eir story. Fights violently, with tooth and nail, but is a pure heart deep down. Autistic coded + struggles with eir forming relationships.

Ludd - V's BEST FRIEND/RIVAL, and unknowing son of the final boss. He's a good hearted kid who cares too much about his image. Used to bully V, but their constant fighting turned into a respect for one another (they're like 8-12 this is pure chaotic sillay) He's an embodiment of darkness.

Mash - V's self proclaimed Guide/Mentor. And also Messenger of the Floating Shrines (a small group of "god equivalents" for the world lore). He's an uptight little wizard. He's bossy + naggy, and he and V completely clash and argue constantly. (+V mocks him) but.. they grow to care a lot about one another! Big brother Mash real.

Locke - Son of the Seawitch, Reocurring Miniboss!!! He's a sillay seal of the dark sea, who is also Mash's rival in school (before he sunk it). He's actually Ludd's older cousin! A lot of what he does is pure loyalty to his mom. And. a little fruity towards the mash potato.

Louise (placeholder, haven't shown) - Ludd's older sister, who lives with their father. Fucked up teen who only knows how to be a vessel of destruction! Recurring mini boss like Locke. But with pure malice + hatred for V (girl, eyre 11)

Moonie - Traitor. An embodiment of light.. dimmed and working with darkness! Moonie is like, super in love with Louise. She also used to be a Messenger for the Shrines of Fate but upon seeing what they had in store for V, betrayed the light and intends to be there when the world ends. She slanders the Candle with acts of arson (again, girls, ey are 12!! /lh)

^^^ these last 3 all get redeemed at different points (Moonie on+off before permanently, Louise next, Locke last.)

Truth & Grit - "pseudo horror" OKAY THIS IS LIKE ONE OF MY FAVEEE STORIES. I've rewritten it a million times. Currently, the basics are- this is a peek into this world's "mythology" in real time.. AKA you are the myth that will be in the future you will never see? But, the myth of before has been reborn inside of you-Truth and Grit. ITS ITS. THEIR STORY. THE. VISION. This world is formed entirely to their perception, swapping between a Silly (Side T) and Serious (Side G) style. Two unfortunate queer guys who are drawn into, infect, and kill one another (but like tragic queer platonic love way) it's complicated. Uhm I don't know how to do these ideas justice but I love these guys. Guys who die again and again. Guys who become the sun/moon. Guys who are just a story which ends when they do (final rest) GUYS WHO ARE SILLY AND SPEND YEARS TOGETHER TRYING TO DO SOMETHING WITH THEMSELVES AUGHU!!

I can't get into all the ideas of lore without making this way too long,, and it's shifting all the time (what isnt though!!! So maybe I should give myself some slack..) so I'll spare but ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Insane.

Truth Patooterton - My favorite oc what the fuck. Sheltered by his Father his entire life (for being Her, his mother's, child), this socially unaware freak is yearning bad for escapism. A fixation on stories of outlaws he's heard while working at the saloon, and, somehow, blessed with the luck to see the enticing face of Grit "Doe"- he follows the cowpokey against his will, and slowly weasels his way into Grit's life. Few chapters later: is a professional hostage /lhj. He is like. A bastardization arc. Pathetic. Adapting to survive, curious/nosey, and lacking a spine to uphold boundaries. Self destructive. (Also did I mention "god" was reborn into/kinned them?) ITS. Complicated. I love this asshole. Who makes so many terrible decisions. Who risks it all JUST to live a life that was lived. Sobs. Also! Truth is agender/nb :] but passes as a man for his own safety. + has impromptu top surgery during the story, requiring a recovery period. Dude goes thru the horrors.. Love this sillay. I put him thru it. And hate love him thru it all!!!

Grit Lunandr - I am rewriting so much of his lore! Ugh! But basically he is divine through hereditary means (completely different force than what Truth is inflicted with) and is rejecting the nature of the existence he.. didn't ask for. Much like how Truth is dangerously self destructive, Grit is dangerously self neglecting. ??? Anyway mysterious cowboy who you find out is kind of a doofus. Strong heart, flimsy morals. He knows the world, but he doesn't get it. (Have I mentioned he and Truth are neurodivergent coded too? Agh) He's made. Countless mistakes in his life. He feels irredeemable. He tries to minimize any wrongs, but keeps making them. And hasn't forgiven himself for the things that are coming to bite him in the ass now (# the plot) Grit is a man stuck inside a beast, and he sees it the other way around, that he is the beast corrupting a man. Or something??? UGH it's hard to make this make sense without sm. Context and ideas and things to change/flesh out... But we love Grit. Yes we do. He's so. I love him. He's a good guy.

^^^ I'll spare you Fable family + Sophie + the mommy issues (which goes into the world mythology/lore shit) of the guys, so the post isn't a thousand years,, ily T&G... Call this sillay road trip world tour with the Horrors and Existentialism and Gore and Queer identity and YEAH!!!!!! I need to post more ab my ocs omg

Infested with Strings - "puzzle graphic adventure" OKAY IVE BEEN ROTATING THIS A BIT. Rewriting hell.. Basically! Post apocalyptic world where thousands of art/audiences voices collaged into a 3sided anomaly which enveloped the world/made it it's body. (They are the "Figures" or, Powers of Influence: SWING, MUSH, and the odd one out, GUTS) There's a theme of live theater/puppet shows, and it's a musical experience in my delusional dreams. /lh Uhh.. basicslly. DRAMA? Lol

You play as Montgomery Guy (recently transitioned ftm, late 40s-early 50s), the protagonist. Ex-Marionette, and awoken from a "living suicide". But, Taylor Bizmun is the Secret Main Character!!! the one the Figures want, the one being exposed to a world she's been locked off from for the first time, the one confused, lost, and unintentionally breaking apart this reality more. We are running on TAYLOR'S SUBCONCIOUS SCRIPT- and youre going to keep repeating it until its just right. Until we get the Right Ending. (Which is The Final Show/Opera/Whatever I Call It) Because while her Father, Tax Bizmun, is the Marionette/Puppet Master, the Figures don't want him, they want her. To replace him. (But, the Vessels/Voice of each Figure, 3 people chosen by SWING,MUSH, + GUTS, want to steal Tax's place as well. Tax is/like a father to each of the candidates)

The story takes place in Devil's Ditch, which is where "Society is Healing Itself" from the brutality that killed the world.. this is fundamentally wrong, and things have been escalating to a boiling point between rallies of people, average citizens, people from the outside, etc. Something BIG is coming!!!

Ugh I'll keep characters brief. Not all of the main faces but whatever.

Montgomery Guy: Protagonist/Centerpiece. Amnesia. World's first absent transgender father /lhj. Redemption arc.

Patrick Rick: Partner character. Recently demoted. (only reason he's working with Monty) Hanging in there. Disabled. Unenthusiastic about the future.

Tori: Sketchy late teen running an unlicensed gas station. Self destructive downspiral.

Taylor Bizmun: Leashed/bubbled teen. Sneaking out. Confused and impressionable girl, exposed to the horrors, wants to write her own fate.

Tax Bizmun: Marionette/Puppet Master. Savior Complex. Estranged man who has become completely void of his original intentions+self. Dictator of The Ditch.

Varrik: Vessel of SWING. Tax's bastard son, and celebrity of the theatre. Taylor's secret? (Is it?) Halfbrother.

Heather: Vessel of MUSH. Tax's pity case. And one of the only people he let near his daughter (Tay)

Bloodyfame - "rhythm game / platformer" THIS ONE IS SILLAY. Basically a trilogy game idea (in the format of a 3seasons reality show Dracula runs) This is mainly a CONCEPT bc I need to flesh out the story/events/especially the cast. But some of the key factors r so fun to me!

Basically, Dracula (the original vampire) is a siren of not just bloodlust, but attention. He was banished long ago (doing gladiator esc battles + rings for the people) but now, close to being free again, pulled a bunch of unfortunate souls down into hell, inside his mansion, to play his little Reality Show :]. With help from Boogey(man) and Death, they run Bloodyfame, promising the winner vampirism.

S1 - hosted by Dracula + Death.

S2 - First half hosted by Boogey, second half hosted by Nina Dracula

S3 - Hosted by Dracula + Nina

The game aspect is running/platforming through challenges in the castle. And ofc, the actual games of the challenge! Where you slaughter demons, or attempt to injure your competitors but like.. In Rhythm Heaven Styled Rhythm Games. ITS HARD TO EXPLAIN ONE DAY I WANT TO TRY AND MAKE MOCKUP ANIMATIONS THOUGH CRIES

Jackie - Protagonist / Winner of S1. Part of an unfortunate incident that got her tied into this mess. A teenage trans girl who's going to prove she can crawl up from anything.

Rio - Jackie's kind of codependent buddy. He's been an anxious spaz since this started. Curator of the incident.

Chris - Jackie's soon to be ex boyfriend. Completely snaps with the desire to win and garner fame. Victim of the incident.

Delilah - A strange child Boogey brought along. Becomes a secondary mascot.

Luci - Dracula's spawned son. Too scared to actually draw blood, hides behind Delilah's schemes. Secondary mascot.

Apricot - Jackie's friendly? Rival. And protagonist of S2. Her precision and rhythm are Perfect. But she melts like ice. Cold competitor, who in S1, wants to win over anything.

Jamie: A werewolf! Sweet boy. Good boy. Just wants everyone to get along / be friends. Loyal, and has a hard time keeping secrets. Madly head over heels for Apricot. He doesn't know why he's here!

"Tell Don't Show" (placeholder) - "RPG Horror Visual Novel" A super computer time machine has been in an unstable loop for years, only affecting an unfortunate mountain town a few miles from the facility. During a fieldtrip, the students and chaperones are enveloped into a secret side of the building and are toyed with upon loop. Protagonist, Eli, is a new addition to this looping. And Ami, secret main character, has been suffering through it since the beginning. This is a reclaim of Corpse Party w/ scifi shhhhhhhhhh.

Junk Em Up! - "platforming graphic adventure" Robot/Alien imposters + a sillay toony world! Protagonist is Dookie, a junkem working at Junk-Or, who's a newbie taking on cases, and an endless list of cartoony shenanigans + sidequests from the vibrant citizens of Violobe.

Merry Go Reset - "exploration horror" A mall becomes one with a dead author's soul, his bastardized art corrupting his being, and absorbing unfortunate mallgoers into tragic stories. Small child "Mary" and her big sister "Niffy" are the two main characters. Mary is guided by a mysterious inky cat she calls Chesher :)

ONLY FIVE oh no LMAO To be honest I really love rereading my own stuff (it’s tailored to all my hyper-specific interests, after all! 🤣), so just picking 5 is hard, but I’ll try.

Redux Hero (FF7, Zack & Sephiroth, M) for sure! It’s a rewrite of the first fic I ever published online, and this time I finished it lmao FF7 has been such a big part of my life, so getting to be super indulgent with my headcanons in a big adventure story with my all-time favorite characters was such a joy to write. Plus I ended up with absolutely wonderful people hyping me up while I was working on it! And it helped me with processing some of my own personal shit. I could write a whole other book about how happy writing this one made me lol

Poster Boy (FF7, Zack/Seph or Zack & Seph, G) - This was my first Seph & Zack fic where I really felt like they matched my headcanon versions of them, to the point that if I’m having a bit of trouble with new fics, I like to reread this one to kinda get back into the right mindset. Like a voice actor having a key phrase to get into character, I guess lol Plus it’s just short and cute, so it’s a nice, quick, pick me up if I’m having a rough time writing.

What Lies Beyond the Lily of the Valley (FF7, Zack & Seph, T) - this one is close to my heart, since it acts as somewhat of an homage to the old FF7 fics I used to read as a kid Namely, “Lily Valley” by LuckyLadybug. That fic (and a lot of her other fics tbh!) really inspired a huge, huge love of Sephiroth and Zack just going on missions together. No big catastrophic, world-ending threat; just the job. Being friends. Uncovering horrible secrets and organizations that aren't Shinra. Or, as is the case with my fic, the two of them uncovering a whole undiscovered realm that, by the end of, they want absolutely nothing to do with LOL I had so much fun with the fae shenanigans. 

FFS, I Believe in You (Breath of the Wild, Sidlink, T) - MY FIRST FINISHED FANFIC LOL and also just the goofiest thing from start to finish (minus the Angst, there is definitely also Angst). I feel like this one really helped me learn how to make notes and actually construct a whole multichapter. It also forced me to learn how to write in iambic pentameter, which. Is that useful? Idk. Is it funny to me personally? Extremely so, yes. I didn’t really participate much in fandom before this fic, so it also ended up being an amazing opportunity to meet some incredible people, and coaxed me out of my lurker shell a bit lol (Also I don’t think I’ll ever beat this one in kudos, with any other story, which is just gonna make me laugh forever because SHAKESPEAREAN LIZALFOS??? THAT’S the most popular one I’ve written?? Understandable, I wouldn’t have it any other way LMAO)

Out of My Head (Venom (Marvel Comics), SymbiOT3, M) - I really let loose with this one and ended up using a lot of writing techniques that I still use in my writing today. Most especially, not feeling guilty about shorter chapters lol It’s at the top of my list for revisiting if I can ever get my brain to fixate on Venom again, because dammit I had two other arcs planned aaaaaaaaAAAAA— hopefully someday. RH did get a rewrite after uh, 9 years, after all;;;;;;;

Hi everyone! I was just about to share one of my old custom rabbit hole builds but when I took another look, I realized it contains around 200 CC's which may not be suitable for gameplay for some players. So, I went ahead and rebuilt it on a smaller lot with fewer CC's.

This was only for the police department and I'm dreading the day I have to check my custom hospital lot because I totally remembered I had a morgue with dead bodies in it.🤭

For this lot, I've reduced the number of CC to 30! Now that I'm slowly introducing CC to my lots, I've decided to create a new WCIF Navigation page to make each post neater and to help others check CC more easily for every lot, as well as crediting the amazing TS3 creators.

To respect the terms of use (TOU) of all creators, I won't include the custom contents (CCs) in my download file. Instead, I will always provide their direct links so that you all have the option to download them separately. I have followed this practice since the beginning as a creator and will continue to do so in the future.

📣 Please note that I've offered alternative links for the rabbit hole doors/rugs because I have an older version of the game so I'm currently using an older version of the rabbit hole as well. I've placed the rabbit hole room on the first floor and used a door for a "Chief/Boss showroom" but you can remove the objects if you plan to use a rug instead.

I updated my details above, particularly the 'Minimum Required Game Version' because it seems that some may not understand that this lot can still be played with new versions/patches. :)

This lot has been play-tested, including the RH door, which works fine. The décor inside the room won't affect it so you can keep it as is. As for the rug, it fits inside the room but you may need to remove the objects inside to ensure there are no obstacles when Sims enter it. Let me know if you experience any problems on your end!

WHAT IS YOUR WRITING GENRE?

Before we get started with the descriptive genres we need to get familiar with some abbreviations used in book descriptions.

Abbreviations Used In Book Descriptions

I actually thought I was familiar with all the abbreviations used in book descriptions until I found this list. Some of these things I’ve never heard of before! They are often used by reviewers and some writers in book descriptions, so I think it behooves ignorant writers like me to at least know what they are.

PNR is the acronym typically used for paranormal romance: Shifters and vampires and mermaids and so much more. Shifters are people able to become various animals. Vampires are simply vampires. It depends on the writer whether they are good or bad. The one thing most of them seem to have in common is drinking blood or sometimes life essence. A few writers of fantasy like Ilona Andrews (husband and wife writing team) treated them as another species (theirs don’t drink blood).

PWF Paranormal Women’s Fiction. These books will have adventure, passion, and LIFE. And they’ll kick ass, just like all our books already do! We are not inventing books with 40+ heroines. We are hoping to define a place for them amongst other genres.

OTP: One True Pairing (that couple that you will root for till the end of time)


NOTP: (Pronounced No-TP) Basically the opposite of an OTP. You do not want this couple together!

BROTP/Bromance: A friendship (between guys) that you adore!

Ship: If you ship a couple, it means that you want them to get together (comes from the word “relationship”).


HEA: Happily Ever After


Book Boyfriend/Girlfriend: The fictional boy (or girl) you only wishcould be your real-life love.


Insta-love/Insta-lust: The phenomenon that happens all too often in books when the couple meets and instantly falls in love (or, sometimes, lust).


Love Triangle: When the main character can’t decide between two romantic partners—most frustrating when this is drawn out for multiple books in a series.


Slash Fiction: A type of fan fiction where two same-sex characters are paired together (often guys). Sometimes slash can just refer to the imagined pairing of two same-sex characters (not necessarily within fan fiction).


OMYM/OWYM: Older man, younger woman/Older woman, younger man

M/M Male/male romance

F/F female/female romance

RH reverse harem - typically one woman several men

MC: Main character (book is told from their POV).


POV: Point of view (the perspective that the book is told from).


POC/BIPOC: People of color/Black, Indigenous, and people of color


Daphne: A female character who has to be rescued all the time (in reference to Daphne from Scooby Doo)


Mary Sue: A character who is too perfect and/or too good which, strangely.


Manic Pixie Dream Girl: A type of female character depicted as vivacious and appealingly quirky, whose main purpose within the narrative is to inspire a greater appreciation for life in a male protagonist.


Twist: An unexpected event in a book—typically one that changes the direction of the plot or characters dramatically.

Info-Dump: When the author gives you lots of background information all at once via narration or dialogue.


Bechdel Test: a set of criteria used as a test to evaluate a work of fiction (such as a film) on the basis of its inclusion and representation of female characters. the term was popularized by American Cartoonist Alison Bechdel so it was named after her. Alison Bechdel never claimed to be the originator of the test. In fact, she never gave it a name. She credited her friend Liz Wallace for the idea, but also the work of author Virginia Woolf in her essay “A Room of One’s Own”.


Unreliable Narrator: A narrator whose POV is not trustworthy (could be due to lying, misinformation on the part of the MC, mental health or memory issues, etc.).

Agent: a person who acts on behalf of an author, negotiating with publishers and promoters.

Alpha Reader
The first reader, usually a non-professional, who provides feedback on a writer’s work.

ANT
Antagonist: the adversary or competitor to the hero/protagonist of any story.

APS
Associated Press Stylebook: a writer’s and journalist’s reference manual for rules on grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, abbreviations, and word and numeral usage.

Advance Reader Copy: free copy of a book given by a publisher to media, librarians, or other readers in advance of official publication.

Amazon Standard Identification Number: Amazon’s unique identifier for each book they sell.

AU
Alternate universe: a fictional universe in which recognizable details are changed in order to create the story.

Beta Reader
A reader, usually non-professional, who provides feedback on a book after a writer has made revisions inspired by alpha readers.

BG
Bad guy: the Freddy Krueger, Lord Voldemort, or Darth Vader of your narrative.

BS
Backstory: history or background that occurs before the current events of a story.

Character Arc
The inner journey and transformation in personality of a character between the beginning and the end of a story.

CMOS
Chicago Manual of Style: a writer’s and editor’s reference manual for grammar usage, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, abbreviations, and word and numeral usage.

Cont
Contemporary (genre): a genre that, although fictional, depicts realistic events that could happen in today’s society. An example: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

CP
Critique Partner: a writer who provides feedback on a fellow writer’s work.

Drabble
One hundred words that tell a story. Drabbles, because of their brevity, demand strong verbs, zero redundancies, and minimal showing. They usually require more time to write than longer stories.

F & SF
Fantasy And Science Fiction (genre): make-believe worlds and characters combined with narrative that is based on scientific principles. Think Star Wars by George Lucas, et al.

Flash Fiction: very short fiction, usually containing fewer than 1000 words.

Feelings and Emotions about Final Stroke Volume 2

So @kudouusagi and I ventured into Mexico this weekend to check out the hopefully FINAL Free movie. And it was a wild adventure. But more importantly, the movie was probably some of the most I've enjoyed Free since Take Your Marks! I absolutely loved it! That doesn't mean it's not without flaws. But as someone who has watched every piece of Free media, read every single bit of side content and spent untold dollars on Free merch, it hit the sweet spot.

And I thought I'd share my impressions with those of you who may not see it for a very long time.

Okay, let's get some general disclaimers out of the way. 1.) I am not going to summarize this movie. You've read the summaries, you know how the movie goes. This post is just going to be my stream of conscious RinHaru/Free fangirl babble about how the movie affected me in various scenes. It will be in mostly chronological order because that's how I remember things, but I can't guarantee perfectly accurate flow. MOST IMPORTANT I AM A RINHARU FAN AND THAT IS MY PRIMARY FOCUS. If you are not here for that, this is not the post for you! Again, you have actual summaries. This is just a feelings ramble. 2.) I am not going to focus on characters that I am not overly concerned with. Others have covered what they’re doing. 3.) I am not going to mention any dialogue, unless it's dialogue that's been covered in other summaries since my Japanese is garbo and I don't want to lead anyone astray. 4. This movie is EXTREMELY visual-based. Dialogue is kind of minimal compared to most Free content and visual storytelling is KEY. No summary is going to quite convey the same feeling as the movie because framing and visuals are so important to really APPRECIATING this movie. There is a lot that is just surreal as far as dream sequences and out of body experiences. Endless metaphors. Constant flashbacks and Best of RH screen reels. It is just A LOT. So seeing it will be your best way of truly FEELING this movie. But I will do my best to capture my feelings at least. 5.) This movie is not perfect and I will have a section for nitpicks. It's just how I roll.

ONTO THE IMPRESSIONS - HERE THERE BE SPOILERS

THE MOMENTS THAT MADE MY FANGIRL HEART FLUTTER (Or just the really cute/cool stuff) - Ikuya teasing Sousuke about being lost after Sousuke appears out of freakin' nowhere in the beginning scene. - The acoustic version of Dried Up Youthful Fame plays over a combination of the RinHaru fight in FS1 and flashbacks to basically every RH scene in existence. This works AMAZINGLY well and gives you all the emotions. ;; This is the moment when I realized this movie was even MORE RinHaru than previously advertised. It just screams THIS IS THE IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP OF THE SERIES and I love it. You see their whole evolution even as you see everything breaking down. And as you know, you get new dialogue and new angles of their reactions during the fight. Simply gorgeous. - THE PINING - PART HARU. Haru is so miserable without Rin. He's also exhausted from overworking himself but Sousuke bringing up Rin sends him into total Rin despair. Complete with RinHaru flashbacks. - Natsuya appearing in Sousuke's car after Sousuke drops Haru off. I swear to god I thought Natsuya appeared out of nowhere and must have been sleeping on the floor lol. - THE PINING - PART RIN. Rin just sounds so broken for the first section of this movie. Both in his attempting to convince himself his choice in FS1 was right, as he talks to Mikhail's closed door. And in his scene with Asahi in the laundromat, when he basically melts into the bench. It's the most depressed I've ever seen Rin, and this includes Season 1. The poor thing. The way he says "Haru" to Asahi nearly broke me. HE'S SO SAD. - Another case of a character appearing out of freakin' nowhere. Mikhail isn't in the room when Rin opens the door but somehow appears right behind him. Why does this keep happening? - Baby Haru falling in love with a video of a waterfall was too precious. All of baby Haru in the water was too precious. - Makoto watching RinHaru's greatest hits via home movies in the theater. Technically, Nagisa is here too, but this is shown to be Makoto's dream so I'm going with him dreaming about Nagisa being here. It is again just SO MUCH RINHARU. And yes, the scene with them as superheroes is hilarious. The music here is a medley of Boy in the Water, Ever Blue and Words that Changed My Life. ;; - Also Haru is having dreams about running away from the relay and crying and you can see tears in his eyes and WHY DO YOU HURT ME THIS WAY KYOANI. Also bizarre how dream him falls through the screen and tries to stop bb Haru but passes through him like a ghost~. Also bb Haru in Albert clothing was suitably creepy. XD - You really feel how badly Haru and Rin are doing without each other, just unable to reach their full potential in swimming and the coaches keep commenting on it. - Ryuuji is a tsun disaster in this movie but I absolutely love him. - I have no idea what Makoto texted Rin because when he showed up to yell at Ryuuji, he was basically ON FIRE. He was pure rage and manhandling Ryuuji and it was just really intense. Then Makoto calms him down (though dude, Makoto, this is your fault, what did you say to him??) and Ryuuji basically starts hauling Rin around with the same intensity. I swear the angle made it almost look like he had Rin by the throat when it was just his collar. And Rin looks ready to tear up. He doesn't cry but just the sheer broken emotion on his face is SO GOOD. Especially after Ryuuji says his piece about Rin telling Haru how he feels and Rin breaks away. - Makoto and Rin trying to find Haru was suitably dramatic. I love Rin beating himself for everything he's ever said to Haru and just falling and rolling in the dirt until he reaches his sakura. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW HE COULD BLOODY TELL THAT WAS HARU. I could barely tell that was Haru. All you see is the back of Haru's head. Rin must have eagle eye vision. Though the look in his eyes is so awestruck when he finds him that I guess I will forgive the surreality of it all. - Okay words cannot describe how hilarious it is that Rin called Makoto to tell him Haru was there and then waited for Makoto to show up and then the SECOND Makoto shows up and tries to walk toward Haru, Rin stops him and goes over to strip. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY RIN WAITED TO DO THIS. HOW LONG WAS HE JUST STARING AT HARU FLOATING IN THE WATER? WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS, RIN? - The night pool is another thing that can't be put into words. It's gorgeous. The softness between Rin and Haru when Rin challenges him is just amazing. The moment in their race when Rin realizes Haru is racing normally again, the expression on Rin's face, just top fucking notch. So good. Also love the lighting during their race. Even if they are basically racing to techno porno music. I LOVE LIKE A MAGNET OKAY. - Haru is so friggin soft when Rin hugs him. The whole hug scene when they're being honest with each other about their feelings, they are so soft. Just the way Haru just sort of drops his head and looks so tender. And the teasing affectionate look in his eyes. And their gentle smiles at each other. I CAN'T OKAY I CAN'T. It's so fucking intimate I feel like a voyeur watching this. DO I HAVE THEIR CONSENT TO BE VIEWING THIS? - I love them pulling Makoto into the pool without warning. Lol they are such asses. They tease Makoto about it too. I liked that for a split second Makoto looked like he did in Season 1 Episode 1. Great callback. - So we know they ask to train together. And this actually brings my FAVORITE moment of the whole movie. There's this super fast clip of Rin and Haru doing laps with each other. And they swim past each other in different lanes. And Rin does his usual grin at Haru. And Haru does the MOST AMAZING SMILE (click to see it) back at Rin. I was DYING. You have no idea how long I've waited to see Haru happy while smiling with Rin IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT. I can't even explain why it means so much to me. It just really captured how far they've come. Because it's an allusion to when Rin beat Haru in Season 1 and he had that wild grin and Haru just looked shocked. Except now Haru is DELIGHTED. And ahhhhh my heart. - Also their cute bickering at one another while everyone freaks out and Makoto just shakes his head. Haru is so tsun in that scene too. XD - I loved the Ryuuji flashback when Mikhail basically does the Rin shoulder lean on Ryuuji before Kiyo shows up. It really cements them as the original MHR trio. Even down to how tsun young Ryuuji is and how Kiyo keeps calling him chan. I loved this. It was just really sweet. - I love Kinjou in this movie in general. But I especially love when he's being tsun about Haru since he cares about Haru's condition more than anyone. I'll never get why we never SAW his redemption arc but I do love slightly more unhinged "Rin" basically. XD - I have long detested the back-walking on Sousuke's arc in Eternal Summer BUT I really like Sousuke in this movie. And I truly enjoyed his race with Rin. It was very sweet and cathartic for them both. I just love Sousuke being wholly his own person in this movie and having so many other relationships with Makoto, Natsuya, Kinjou, Hiyori and Haru. Just good stuff for the lad. Also using "Clear Blue Departure" for their race was very very good. - So there's this scene when they all qualify for Nationals and are celebrating and I could barely pay attention BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DRESSED SO AWFUL. It's like this is the most important moment of your lives and you are an embarrassment to fashion. Anyway, the positive here is Asahi who is the purest cinnamon roll and so happy about his qualification. YOU DESERVE THE WORLD, ASAHI. ;;b - I love all the races in this movie. Haru defying Ryuuji's advice in his Kinjou race was done really well. It was super intense. And I love the music. Drag Racer indeed. - I am a sap so of course I loved Rin and Ikuya showing up with Makoto when Haru's recovering in the clinic. - As always, I love Rin and Ikuya interactions in general. They're such a great pair. They don't have as much here as FS1 but they're still precious. Them hugging each other after getting their medals MY SOUL IS LEAVING MY BODY. - I AM SO UPSET HARU DIDN'T SEE RIN WIN HIS RACE. (More on that later.) But I did love the callback of Gou wearing Rin's medal to when Tora let Rin wear his medal and told Gou she could wear it next time. MY EYES ARE LEAKING. Also Rin's mom mentioning something that Rin still has to do. Which I'm assuming is about swimming with Haru but GEEZ YOU TOLD YOUR MOM ABOUT HARU TOO, RIN? Have you at least brought him to meet her yet? Anyway, supportive Miyako ftw. - I absolutely LOVED the scene where Haru leaves Makoto in the clinic. It's framed like a relay exchange. Where Haru thanks Makoto and then grabs his hand for a moment and strides past him, as if he's diving forward (into the water). This was SUCH A GOOD symbolism for their relationship. I loved it so much. I loved the metaphor of Makoto turning the race over to Haru aaaaah. - Oh about Haru's crazy dream sequence while he's unconscious. I really liked how he manages to grab his younger self to keep him from running. It's so dramatic. And bb Haru's tears. ;; - Total chaos with the relay changeup. I loved this madness. Even if poor Asahi got screwed over again. YOU'LL GET THEM NEXT TIME, ASAHI. ;;b Oh, I’m squeezing in Ikuya’s absolutely precious smile to Hiyori just before his race. It stole my heart completely. God it was gorgeous. - I love Kinjou seeing the "sight" in his race because he's so darkly unhinged about it and it's just such a cool contrast to Season 1 Rin seeing the "sight." This was a great scene. Kinjou is awesome. What a dick. XD - Okay, the final race was insanely good. From Samezuka getting all possessive over Sousuke. To Seijurou showing up and being all intensely supportive. To the way the powerful music CUTS OFF COMPLETELY when Haru dives over Rin (cue Rin eyecatch of Haru) and only picks up again once he hits the water CHILLS. And just Haru's racing is so fucking INTENSE. I knew how this would end and I was honestly EXCITED AND ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. Free has never made me feel that way about a race because the winner never matters. But it mattered here and it WORKED. - Oh yeah, I generally loved everyone cheering for everyone. This is something that was sorely lacking since Season 1 after Eternal Summer started the teamsplit trend. And I think everyone cheering for everyone really captures the spirit of Free so this made me REALLY HAPPY. - I also like the flashing back to everyone else watching the race, including Misaki and his friend and Rin's homestay parents and Winnie. D'awww. - I admit being a RH, my hackles DID go up for a moment when bb Haru reached out to bb Albert in the same manner as Haru reaching out to Rin from Season 1 Episode 12. BUT I was relieved that Albert just grabs his hand so it's a different feeling. And I loved Haru "saving" Albert. The whole transition of the dark water around Albert to the bright beautiful water around Haru. - Speaking of Albert, they don't really let him speak that much in this movie. And it's almost entirely to Haru. But I love his lines. He's still an adorable bear. I love his rivalry with Haru so much. They're so good. - Of course I loved the final relay hug. And everyone crying with joy. Even Haru. FEELS. - It was so surreal watching Haru just DROP out of that group hug and fall on the floor. As much as I love Rin holding him on his knee after he falls, it's just such a surreal scene. It's seriously framed like Haru is dying. Bizarre. - OKAY SO HUNGARY. We know about the tracks and this creative version of a Words that Changed My Life playing against Ever Blue. But what REALLY sells this scene is the huge smirk/grin on Haru's face when he answers Rin's question about if he wants to see how the dream continues. That is one HAPPY CONFIDENT MAN. I love it! - Oh yeah, so on the final RinHaru note, I'm going to be real. The way they frame this movie, where Haru is constantly asked or asking himself questions about why he swims, why he swims competitively and what he's after... and then have Rin be his savior more or less. It really frames it that RIN and his relationship with Rin ARE those answers. Like it's not even ambiguous. You really have to SEE this framing to get what I mean. Especially with how the movie starts and ends with RinHaru's relationship. It's just stunning.

THE WHAT THE FUCK MOMENTS THAT STOOD OUT - Who let Sousuke drive? Why is this man driving? Why are people in a car with him? They could have at least shown him with a GPS or something. - Rei and Ai's introductions to Ikuya's team. Compared to Nagisa. Nagisa's is a normal bouncy introduction to Kinjou's team while Rei and Ai break out into full interpretive dance. I don't even know man... - Why is Makoto having dreams of RinHaru's Greatest Hits? It's just so weird. XD Also evil goldfish always blocking him. - WHY IS NAGISA GOING AFTER PRO COMPETITIVE SWIMMING? He has so many other choices. He has never shown interest in wanting to do this forever. He just liked swimming with his friends and THAT'S FINE. He gets to competitive swim but Nao and Makoto don't? The people who ACTUALLY WANTED TO PURSUE THIS? Why? Why does freakin' everyone go into pro swimming except for Nao and Makoto? It's so STUPID. Why can't anyone have any other path? I can buy Rei and Ai since that ties into their "need to get better at swimming" arcs. BUT NAGISA NEVER EVEN IMPROVED AT SWIMMING. He has no swimming arc! They just did this because they didn't know what else to do with him. And yeah, him and Kinjou are incredibly cute but this plotline is STILL STUPID. And miserably unfair to both Nao and Makoto. - SPEAKING OF MAKOTO, we're going to talk about AN INTERESTING SCENE. So Makoto relays the story of how him and Nagisa wanted to get Haru a charm to cheer him up after him losing to older kids when they were younger. An undercurrent of this is Nagisa wants Makoto to tell Haru how he feels about him. He eventually tells him he loves his swimming and is adorably embarrassed. We got back to real life and Haru's reaction to this? HE DOESN'T FREAKIN' REMEMBER. DUDE DON'T TELL HIM THAT. SAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT. THIS DUDE POURED HIS HEART OUT TO YOU IN STORY FROM AND YOU TELL HIM YOU DON'T REMEMBER THAT. i can't even. i can't. Anyway, Rin is clearly feeling bad for Makoto after Haru's usual blunt nature so he tells him that he remembers hearing about a kid who defeated a bunch of older kids. And apparently this adds another level to the growing pyramid lore of how Rin first heard about Haru. Lol. But yeah, it was just so weird to have Haru react like that to what seemed to be an important story to Makoto and something he's been trying to convey since the last movie (maybe? we'll get to that). Why? I don't get it. - While I love the scene of young Ryuuji and the others. IT BREAKS THE PKH LORE. Since young Ryuuji is tsun. Now I figured originally that tsun Ryuuji was the result of losing his friend and that's why he didn't have PKH's charming personality. But no Ryuuji was still tsun as a youngster. SO WHERE DID THAT ULTRA LADIES MAN PKH PICTURE COME FROM? He seems like a completely different person from young Ryuuji. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

- WHY THE FUCK IS EVERYONE SURPRISED THAT SOUSUKE IS SWIMMING BACK? Like the whole point of the second half of the movie is they’re all training together. But it’s this huge surprise when Sousuke competes in back and qualifies. Was Nao hosting secret swimming lessons at night ala Rin/Rei from Eternal Summer? When did this special regiment happen? Why did nobody know about it? Why was it a secret? Was it supposed to be a secret? This just completely DOES NOT WORK with their whole theme of working together toward their goal. It surprises the audience sure but it holds no logical consistency to what they established about the joint training. It’s so dumb. - I hate the Haru passing out/collapsing storyline. It's stupid and adds nothing to overall story. It just makes dumb artificial drama. Especially since he basically gets over it at the end. It also means Haru sleeps through most of the tournament. Missing BOTH Rin and Ikuya's races. Which pisses me off. Don't you think it would have done him good after being traumatized by his friends' losses in Sydney to see them win here? This just really bothered me. He doesn't see the qualifying relay team either. He loses the chance to cheer for any of his friends. :/ This was a dumb choice. F minus. - So there's a scene where Makoto and Ryuuji are discussing Haru's decision to do the relay and Ikuya and Rin are hanging outside the closed door and Ikuya asks if Rin should be in there and Rin is like "Our relationship isn't like that." And honestly, WTF. This isn't a private moment. They are literally discussing Haru doing a final tournament swim. You know the thing you've been pushing him along for YOUR ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP. You can cry on his face, hug him and pour out your heart, wake up at his bedside... But sure, listening to him discuss his swimming plans THAT'S TOO MUCH FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIP. what the actual fuck. And this comes AFTER Rin says he's going to stop playing it cool around Haru. >_< I know it's supposed to be a callback to FS1 where Rin tells Ikuya his relationship with Ikuya is "more complicated than that." But COME ON. - I don't know why anyone is in Hungary. This scene makes no sense. Are they there for a race? Why is Makoto there? Why is Makoto looking around for someone (presumably Haru) and then being shocked to find him? Why does Ryuuji know that Rin is in Hungary but Makoto has to tell Haru that? Why does Makoto have to tell Rin that Haru is there? WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING???

- I don’t think they actually really resolved Makoto’s whole thing he needed to tell Haru in FS1. They set it up as this big moment of Makoto needing to tell Haru something and have him flashback to bb Makoto chasing after Haru and being blocked by goldfish. And I guessss it’s supposed to be the backstory Makoto tells him about him and Nagisa. But this just feels very weaksauce compared to how this was set up as some BIG IMPORTANT THING in FS1. And if it IS the big important thing that Makoto was pining to tell Haru all of FS1... Haru’s blasé reaction is EVEN WORSE. orz

- Wait! I forgot to complain about the utter insanity of making Momo and Ayumu team captains. Momo has the emotional maturity of a kiwi and Ayumu CAN’T EVEN SWIM. Do they even have enough swimming members for a relay team at this point? Captains have to swim! They need to demonstrate things and be the team representative. You don’t always have to SHOW the captains, KyoAni. It’s okay sometimes for people to just mention their new captain and say they’re learning a lot. Just. SIGH.

THE HORRIBLY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES

- Nao. Just Nao. Basically they gave the recovery arc to Sousuke and forgot Nao entirely. HS sets it up so his eye operation isn't supposed to have a long recovery and he can swim again. DF sets it up so he has to keep recovering so he can swim again. WHY DOES HE NEVER SWIM WITH NATSUYA WHEN THIS IS CLEARLY SET UP AS A THING THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN? Why is he doing virtually nothing this whole movie? I guess he helps training with Makoto a little but it's barely there. What a wasted character. 

- Natsuya wasn’t used that great here either, but at least he got to relay and react to Ikuya’s win. They were still cute. And yeah, at least Nao and Natsuya are cute now and then. I’m just overall disappointed with both their arcs. Especially since Ikuya got less focus in FS2 so the whole Kirishima brothers taking on the world thing lacked proper oomph. I’m not as disappointed with Ikuya since he still gets to relish his win and he is overall AROUND.

- Rei. Rei does nothing. Woo he makes some bracelets. This is a far cry to Rei's role in Season 1 and Eternal Summer. He is basically there to be cute with Nagisa and nothing else. He doesn't even qualify in Nationals so his whole learn to swim arc is ongoing I guess. He never even gets a suitably meaningful scene with Haru or Rin. Which is the MOST disappointing part of all. But he just feels really flat in this. - Albert. He just really needed more time in this. We needed to see more of his rivalry with Haru. We needed to know if he actually broke away from his mean coach. We needed to see more of his pure swimmer side. He just feels there for Haru to have a goal beyond wanting to swim with Rin. Not well executed. - Kinjou. Again, why didn't we see his redemption arc? Why did he suddenly change between FS1 and FS2? I love Kinjou in FS2 but it just feels so abrupt. And they barely resolve his issues with Hiyori or Kiyo. It's upsetting. - Asahi and Rin Connection. Come on, you had a huge scene with them. You couldn't have fit in a moment of Asahi seeing a pic of Rin's dad at the tournament and pointing out his own father in the pic. KyoAni connected every character under the sun after Eternal Summer but they couldn't even manage the ACTUAL meaningful connection between characters. No instead we get Ai and Mikhail being relatives. :/ This was so friggin' simple. Fail.

- THE FRIGGIN SAKURA TREE. I know they do this beautiful metaphor with the night pool and the way the lights are like blossoms and the colors and it’s great. But you found a way to get Albert’s friggin’ father to Iwatobi but you can’t get Rin and Haru back there to see the damn tree bloom. The thing that has been promised since Season 1, since the Eternal Summer Drama CD. It’s like YOU HAD ONE FUCKING JOB... I still can’t believe they failed this. What we got was beautiful but I can’t pretend this doesn’t irk the hell out of me. >_< - This isn't really a missed point. But dammit Asahi don't sell yourself so short. You qualified for the national team. YOU CAN DO THIS DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM. ;;b JUSTICE FOR ASAHI. He suffers the fate of butterfly swimmer. There are just too many butterfly swimmers. 8(

Overall, despite the WTFs and missed opportunities, I did truly love this movie and think it's the perfect ending to Free and the story they set up since Season 1. I'm amazed they managed to pull this off, given their need to showcase EVERY FLIPPING CHARACTER THEY EVER INTRODUCED. But it somehow worked and RinHaru's relationship shown as the centerpiece it always has been. What a ride, Free fans. What a ride.
