Elder Scrolls is fascinating to me because the vast majority of the background information of the setting is very obviously written by people with an admirably clear-eyed understanding of how history is mainly just groups genociding the shit out of each other before constructing post-hoc rationalizations of why that was a cool and good thing to do, if they bother justifying anything beyond the level of Might Makes Right. And then the actual main quest plots are often operating at Sword Hero Cleanses The Undesirables levels of These Are The Bad Guys, Kill Them Because We Said So

This morning I was reading a fanfic (ao3) and everything was fine until in the comment section the author answered a question about the writing AI she was using. I felt such visceral disgust at that. I dropped the story like it was acid.

To those that use AI. How dare you? How dare you to have the audacity of using a program that steals people's creativity? How dare you feed it, taking that which was granted with love and passion and then transform it into a soulless program? How dare you bend yourself to these corporations that only seek to exploits us further?

I would 100% prefer to read a fic that has mistakes but that has care into every word and a person behind it with immense love for the fandom, than to read Shakespeare vomited by a code that it was written by a thousand cunts that wank themselves at a picture of Mark Zuckerberg.

If you're doing mental gymnastics to justify art theft and exploitation, then there's no mistake. You are wrong. Nothing will change that.

I love Garrus' canon arc as Archangel in 2, but imagine an au where he was actually working as a Hierarchy (or Council I guess) spy investigating the disappearances in the Terminus Systems and if they relate to the Reapers, and then he's asked to keep an eye on Shepard after she saves his life and evaluate if she's actually joined Cerberus or not

Ideally at least some of the Archangel squad would have been in on it too, so imagine how many more layers Sidonis' betrayal would have, and it adding to Garrus' guilt about whether to tell Shepard all of this or not when she asks him why he's so certain Sidonis betrayed them

will also show my general ui/mock-up progress, for anyone curious. had a general idea of the screen division to start with, then tried to figure out more how it would look. i wanted there to be a heavier emphasis on it all being a sort of "stage" production to start with, so i initially had the idea to have an old roman stage on the left. ultimately i found this too distracting, though, so i ditched it; you can still see this influence in the scroll bar, whose base is a heavily simplified version of a roman pillar. lenora only got one sprite due to jam restrictions so i was figuring out how she should look throughout all of this (so that she could harmonize with the other UI elements). Everything was half trial-and-error, half looking up the UI of other games to see how they implemented things!

well, now that he's relevant to the current topic! i always thought Huey was just Some Guy

as in, no real malice or grand benevolence. he just had hella power and a job to do

even making contracts with the original clan members, i couldn't imagine him... forcing them into it, or being some sort of Big Bad?

they just described him as a sort of... curious explorer sort of deal. making pumpkin candies, trying to figure out essence trinkets, observing people and yokai. Just a Dude.

i felt sorta vindicated that the Huey Reveal indeed showed that he didn't have some great emotional instinct driving him to do everything he did

he was following (Divvine lolol) orders and trying to make sense of the world while he was doing so

when he was trying to understand why aster and morv would be so attached to him, an empty sorta vessel, and how he wished they would find solace in each other's company instead

i was also really scared during his regeneration that. somehow. the regen would only be complete by eating up eiden's soul or smth

this whole time morv was scared to have eiden in the same place as huey and rin...

so rin must have explained things to morv, and morv was terrified because he didn't want the mind merge to happen.....

but that means both rin and morv thoguht of the merge as an inevitability the SECOND eiden sees huey
