Did Jack Al Ghul Drake's parents love him or the money that was sent to them?
Insert the clip from el dorado with the main characters pointing out that both would be good
They were Gothamites, they weren't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, they got a son and a regular payday? They considered themselves lottery winners. The minion that took Jack away did try to look for a couple that actively wanted a child and also wasn't too awful. The mom was a bit of a karen and the dad was very... traditional. The minion that was tasked with taking Jack away knew Jack was a complete failure but the boy still carried the blood of his master and that blood had worth in the minion's eyes when nothing else about Jack had worth to the league.
Ra's does not at all encourage siblings getting along or having more loyalty to someone in the family other than himself. Talia was responsible for at least one instance of Jack having to be dipped in the pit, possible more but only the one could be proven. After Jack was sent away, Talia did not think of him anymore. He was a failure and deserved no place in her thoughts.
If she discovered that Tim was her nephew? It would be a toss up as to whether it would make her want Tim dead more or less. On the one hand, this makes the young detective a candidate for her father's vessel rather than Damian and some small part of Talia does love Damian and would rather not see her father's soul overtake her son's body. On the other hand, Tim is still very much a threat in her eyes in relation to her son's rightful place and now he has the added edge of having the blood of the al ghul family which to Talia's mind makes him that much more of a threat since it could be argued that she's inherited her father's dismissive attitude towards women but considers herself an exception because she's "not like other women".
Of course this AU still leaves open any sort of interesting heritage on Janet's side of things, a heritage that Jack likely dismissed and that Tim might want to explore since it's a heritage that's NOT related to a crusty old creep and an assassin cult.
At least probably not related to an assassin cult.
Thank you for answering all the questions!
Thr explanations for Jack's parents as well as Talia certainly check out. I am curious if Talia's feelings about Tim affect how Damian views Tim. Also, after Bruce adopts Tim, would they consider themselves brothers, cousins, or coworkers?
It would be cool for Tim to connect to both sides of his family's heritage. I've seen some rad fics that discuss Janet havung various home countries (I've seen Phillippines, South Korea, and Russia) and carrying some of those traditions with her to Tim (such as making certain foods, celebrating certain holidays, etc). I've also seen some that indicate she was Christian while Jack was Jewish, and they thus celebrated both winter holidays. That, or Janet preferred a Jewish funeral with all of the procedures that typically go with it. I'm not sure what Janet's heritage is in this AU, but I bet Tim could compare how he's been deprived of both his mom and dad's culture growing up.

Philza specific Headcannons: Philza Minecraft timeline.
Heyo Tumblr, back with my third post on C!Phil, this time I'll elaborate on my takes on some of my timelines for Philza since it's complex and full of detail I could analysis, MAYBE I'll separate this all in 2 posts: pre-DSMP and AFTER-DSMP, well let's go!
timeline for c!philza:
(nothing official, this is MY interpretation on his events and lore connecting and stitching everything together)
The beginning:
Okay this starts with the icarus animatic made OFFICIALLY for his lore by Maepletea
In this we can agree Philza was originally a human, however, in my interpretation, Phil always had a connection to crows, living in an isolated shack (which makes me believe he was always a isolated and introverted person wanting to stay away from any trouble and people), his obsession for flying, possibly in my view seeing he understood the crows just like they got him. Worth noting in the end of the animatic he was saved by Mumza and implied perhaps SHE granted his wings and avian side and supposed immortality, so you can say from HERE Phil is the one avian old man we know and love, before being just a plain human with nothing special or perhaps affinity with paranormal, crows, death and deities. Being alone but FEELING/SEEING something else and knowing the existence of something more such as The End (which would explain why Enderking has a liking to him, he is more than any other avian or human, he can see, understand and be in a equal foot with the deities having their favor).
Hardcore season 2:
Okay, let's start with season 2 since I think season 1 has no lore or hints we could use to this analysis, in season 2 we are introduced to the deities, but the most important is Rose and Enderking since they will be REALLY important to future events.
In here Phil is ALREADY an avian, we can see he can ALREADY interact with the deities and probably is already recognized as The Angel of Death, meaning in here in the middle of the season perhaps he got together with Kristin as a representant/warrior for her or Soul reaper, I think they'd only be together in season 4 (due to irl events where if I'm certain Phil married Kristin in 2020/2021, since it's CREEPY to assume when they started dating let's say mid season 2 they start to date AS CHARACTERS)
And before we finish for season 2 for now, we should mention Ender King was already attacking the overworld and nether in season 2, perhaps here being when Philza first made contact with him ON A NEGATIVE WAY, the end of season 2 I interpret death as Phil SMALL PIECE of his Soul being killed but Kristin helps him again to stay alive with immortality, but before that he stayed in a species of dream before recover which is
Season 3: the dream
The beach episode of Philza Minecraft, just a dream in transition from season 2 to 4
Season 4: the current moment
Okay I'll talk about EarthSMP and Origins in another post, what I need to focus is on QSMP and DSMP for this part
In here, the conflict between the deities rose, Enderking finally making a war against all others, resulting in Endlantis, we have flowerfall as well in a conflict between Ocean overlordand Enderking and the Nethervoid in conflict between Blaze empress and Enderking, what does Phil have to do with it? In one way or another, Phil sided and made allies with the deities, which would save his life later on, but also, this could be the moment the Enderking noticed how STRONG Phil can truly be and how he could make a good vessel because Phil even if slightly is a greedy person.
In here we also have Philza marriage to Mumza, and we could say it was in here that he adopted Techno, C!Wilbur and Tommy, next is a bit of a personal interpretation and hc, but Phil adopted Techno in the beginning of season 4 in the nether preparing for going to the end, C!Wilbur is the biological child between him and Mumza (proven with DSMP) and Tommy was adopted pre-pogtopia on the DSMP.
This shows the beginning of the SBI truly but also conforming:
• Techno is the oldest kid and probably the one most loyal to Phil due to seeing all Phil's struggles plus a "favorite"' due to Techno loyalty and never letting Phil down and vice-versa
• Wilbur is the middle kid, which only had a stronger bond with Tommy, wasn't THAT loyal to Phil but still got his approval and protection
• Tommy is just the youngest and lost kid, Phil probably loving him just as much, but not accepting Tommy actions towards them, especially Techno, and for being young and naive, Phil wouldn't hold back to correct Tommy, no matter how Tommy interpreted it.
We can also finish this section by saying in all this, this was the moment Philza perfected his war skills he'd use later on in his life, all thanks to seasons 2 and 4
Also worth noting QSMP is a Philza dream, but Q!Phil, C!Phil and Hardcore!Phil are all the same people, you could say only QSMP is a dream and DSMP was real, but that would mess stuff too much, for this analysis and finishing this post for now, let's divide this into 2 timelines, the REAL world timeline and the Dream world/alternative Philza timelines which could be real but only in a different universe, which leaves us with this order:
Real world: hardcore --> EarthSMP --> DSMP
Dream world/alternative universes: real world timeline then we mix and it --> OriginsSMP --> QSMP
Or, we could separate origins as something else entirely and make:
Dsmp --> QSMP
But FOR NOW, this is part 1 of my Philza timeline... WHICH IS A MESS BUT OH WELL

Sorry, I know your ask box is closed so don't force yourself to respond if you don't want to but. Do you have anything else about Rung in Hollow Knight. I just love the idea. Does he befriend Cloth. Does he adopt the Grimm baby. Is he like a 2nd grandpa to the Nailmasters brothers. Please I would love to hear more about your ideas 🙏🙏🙏
God, I love this AU. I have so many ideas and plans for the fic I'm writing so forgive me if I end up rambling a bit.
First of all, let's discuss Rung's transformation upon being 'reborn' in Hallownest. He's still made out of metal and most of his most recognizable features (his blue optics, antenna, sparkwindow etc) remain, he now looks like a bug. To better blend in among regular bugs, Rung wears a poncho/cloak that hides his sparkwindow.
As for what kind of bug he looks like, I'd say a mix between an ant and a bee. To other bugs, he looks like a city bug, a noble, with deceptively thin and frail looking 'exoskeleton', no claws or fangs and slender limbs. He's also considered extremely handsome by bug-standards because I think that's funny.
Rung arrives in Hallownest before the kingdom falls to the infection but after the Pale King creates the vessels so some characters that appear in game aren't born yet while others are still alive.
The Nailmaster brothers are still young and being taught by Sly and while the brothers just think Rung is some old bug, Sly immediately senses that there's something special about him (he's probably met the White Lady and the Pale King at least once before so he recognizes the aura of a Higher Being). They end up becoming friends and start gossiping.
FUCKING SOUL MASTER. Since Rung canonically can ignite hot spots by just stepping on the ground, I imagine that he's practically a living super soul-totem, giving off a seemingly endless amount of soul. And you just know that Soul Master is going to find out about this and come up with some nefarious shit. Kidnapping and experimentation ensues, with Ghost having so save their new dad.
Speaking of mad scientists and experiments, FUCKING MONOMON. She learns about this new Higher Being that's not only immortal and made out of living metal but also originates from ANOTHER FUCKING WORLD WHAT and oh the data she could collect. The knowledge. TO THE LAB!
Now, I know that Godseeker finds and ends up in Hallownest after it falls but for the sake of this story, she arrives way earlier. Why? Because the intensity of Rung's light guided her. He's millions upon millions of years old and it wouldn't surprise me if he's the oldest Higher Being in the world of Hollow Knight. In Godhome, his light can be seen even when Godseeker is far, far away, like the distant sun in our own sky.
Edit: Added picture of what bug-ified Rung might look like.

I just had a dark BNHA fic idea that I will probably not do anything with. So I want to share with you and anyone who might want to adopt this plunny.
So Inko's Quirk is Small Object Attraction. It would be so easy to kill people with this. By either "natural causes" or "accidents".
She can pull on the blood vessels or arteries. She can pull on nerves, the brain stem, and she might be able to target portions of organs or the brain. She would be able to kill or cause severe medical problems easily.
I like to think that Inko learned how to control how her pulled objects come near her, so she should be able to pull things in a spiral. So she can unscrew things, like important support structures, car parts, parts of pulley systems. Maybe even trash that just so happens to make someone fall off a building or into traffic.
I can see this happening primarily in 2 time frames. Pre-Canon as an anti-hero or Post-Quirk Diagnosis when Inko is out of fucks to give. Maybe both.
Anti-hero Inko killing off or crippling assholes that get around the law, like... I was going to give a couple of examples, but Endeavor kept coming to mind. Child abuse, spousal abuse, probably marital rape, excessive injuries to villains and bystanders, excessive property damage. Whether it's because she sees that whoever is too scared or unable to leave, she can make it so the abuser can't physically do anything. Regardless of whether they are heroes, villains or everyday assholes who never get caught. I like to think she has a few political cases, too. Like if someone kept trying to implement horrible and disgusting laws or remove protections. Maybe she starts off small and makes it so they can't attend rallies or votes. If they work around it, I think she'd lose her tolerance for them and they may get their life privileges revoked.
And one of these brings her, or her deeds, to AfO's attention. If you like DfO, this could be what makes him think She's the One.
P.S. this actually came from a fic who's name I can't remember. Basically, Izu and AM are on the run from HPSC who thinks Izu is controlling AM. They have a mental connection that's kinda 1 brain 2 bodies with ghosts and classmates stuck in Izu's head for a while. Inko is visiting that Quirk Dr that said Izu was Quirkless since he's an acquaintance of her husband's for something important when this happens. The doc then learns that AfO's wife is terrifying and obeys her orders when Inko learns what's happening with Izu. Shigaraki is duly impressed.
If it's Post-Diagnosis, then maybe she starts off just giving the assholes bullying her baby bad luck then escalating for the adults who don't learn better.
Just thought of a BNHA KHR idea, too. Inko's Quirk can be agreed that gravity is involved, yes? I see tons of Sky Flame Izuku, but what about Earth Flames?
Earth Flames = Gravity Control. Enma and Tsuna looked so badass using Earth Flames. (It still makes me scream that Tsuna was able to use Enma's ring. Either for shipping purposes or for meta implications.) (Btw, Earth Flames and the Shimon Famiglia are from the manga.) Because if he got his "Quirk" when the Sludge villain attacked him, it could feasibly come in then. Since Flames require someone to defy death to accomplish a goal, this could work. Maybe Inko is aware of Flames and she and Izu can bond. Maybe she isn't but can still pass on her tricks when it comes to pulling things.
Anyways, Izu increasing gravity when Bakugo tries to attack him. Decreasing his own weight to move faster. Doing Moon jumps to get to places. Making things weigh less to free trapped people. Crushing things into diamonds. Making BLACK HOLES (This is Canon in KHR).
Izu and Ochako bonding over their powers. Izu and 13 bonding.
I'm running out of ideas at this point. Anyways, I've never seen Earth Flames Izuku before!
Oh all of this is fantastic and I swear I know that fic you're talking about

Ode to the Tree Lightning Struck - Wip part 3
Joey drives, Ness takes shotgun, and Sylvin sits in the backseat. It’s somehow more uncomfortable than the last time Sylvin recalls sitting here - sometime during the mad dash to resummon Arakiel to Sylvin before a demon could find her as an open vessel. Probably a year and a half ago now, give or take. The seats are made up of cheap faux-leather - which is to say plastic - that’s cracking and peeling in places. The car is an old Nissan that’s still kicking probably due to prayers - in fact, now that Sylvin is thinking about it, maybe due to prayers specifically to Arakiel. Joey and Ness don’t have a lot of money, and Sylvin is unsure if they have the knowledge required to keep the junker alive as long as it has been. It feels a little ironic that the hunters of supernatural phenomena drive around in a car that is basically a zombie, only living off of parts taken from different, newer models.
Sylvin considers sharing the idea to the others, but the air of the car is still thick with tension and unwelcoming to Sylvin and any conversation she might bring. This discomfort is of her own creation. Some part of her wanted this outcome, but sitting in the silence of the car trying not to make the plastic squeak too loudly when she moves to adjust her position, that desire feels very far away.
She alternates picking at the plastic of the seat and the loose threads from the holes in her jeans. They were a little big on her, and the bra a little small, and none of it was really her style, but clothes were clothes. Beggars couldn’t be choosers, and Sylvin certainly felt like a beggar right now. No phone on her - she had the vague impression that it hadn’t ‘traveled’ well with Arakiel over the last four years, or that Arakiel just hadn’t seen a reason to keep track of it. No wallet either - she hadn’t had her purse on her when Arakiel had taken her as her vessel, so it was who knows where by now. Just her luck she’d look into her bank when she got a chance and find out her identity had been stolen EVEN MORE than it had by Arakiel and now she was in debt or something.
In the front seat, Joey adjusts the music on her phone and her places it back in the ‘speaker’ - a glass cup that sits in the cup holder as a makeshift way to amplify the sound. It makes each of the songs adopt a tinny quality to them.
The progress east was a combination of both reasons Sylvin had hypothesized: a mixture short days driving and a meandering direction. It felt like they were on some kind of a victory lap after saving the world - checking up on different people the pair had crossed paths with over the last four years. It made a kind of sense - see who was still kicking, pay respect to those who had died, and make sure that everyone that had been involved in the shitstorm knew that it was over.
Didn’t make Sylvin like it though.
It made her feel like a child, being toted around by her parents and forced to sit off awkwardly on the sidelines while she was introduced to strangers. The entire affair was a lot like family reunions or church - back when Sylvin and her siblings would all stand slightly behind her mom, waiting for her to be done chatting about keylime pie recipes or whatever it was the moms discussed in church parking lots while their kids baked in the sun, reflecting off the dark asphalt. Those were the only instances where Sylvin actually envied the crazy Sunday hats the grandma’s wore. Sylvin and her three siblings would usually end up standing like dominos or some bizarre version of matryoshka dolls - line up so they were standing in eachothers shadows for at least a small reprieve from the heat. Atlas the unfortunate tallest of the bunch, bore the sunlight on his own. Or alternatively ran around the parking lot as a moving target, preventing the rest of them from using his shade.
Just today they’d met up with 3 different people and 3 gravesites. Only one of the cemeteries had been planned - someone, a civilian, who had died on a job three years ago. The other two had been new deaths. A fellow hunter, vampire got the best of them. The other someone they had saved from the jaws of death already, took care of a poltergeist that had been hounding them. Didn’t matter - dead now - car crash. Bad luck.

Is there any way Gege can make the series better again?
-spam anon
Hi, sorry for the late answer.
He could probably start with ressurecting Gojo and sticking with his Buddha inspiration, while Yuta and others handling Kenjaku (who is still around doing god knows what) and Gojo can handle Sukuna (he needs to be enlightened even more for this).
(What will happen, probably, is that Yuji ate Sukuna's last remaining finger, either got Sukuna's dissmantle and cleave OR he got immunity to Sukuna's cursed technique. Like I love Yuji to death (he is my child, along with Megimi, I've adopted them), but there's no way he can handle Sukuna's slashing dismantle unless he has the same powers or immunity.
As Sukuna said in the last chapter, whanever can this poor kid even do?)
On the other hand, didn't they have like a month or so before Gojo vs Sukuna battle? After 31st October, Gojo soend 19 days there, so between 19th November and 24th December, I actually doubt that someone as smart as Gojo did nothing all these 35 days and was lazing around (PROVE ME RIGHT, GEGE!!). He has to have a plan, stop erasing his inteligence, Gege!!
At this point they need a back up plan for a black up plan for a black up plan and so on.
I also think that Sukuna killing Kenjaku would be hillarious, lmao. More than thousand years of ruining lives left and right and murders, r*apes, giving birth for "to merge Master Tengen and all the non-sorcerers in Japan to give birth to a single entity" ... all of these for human evolution? Okay, Charles Darwin wannabe, who wants to make Golden Age, most likely new Heian Era.
How does this "evolutionary plans" involve Ryomen *I only care about myself* Sukuna then? Fuck fighting, I need answers, damn it!!! Because I don't believe Sukuna gives a fuck about humanity, he is cannibal, actual gluton, who does whatever he wants, why would be care for "maggots" and their so-called evolution?
Everything would be great if Toji was around to just to a bullet in Tengen somehow, after all, he is the only one "fate" doesn't work on (i.e. only he managed to stop the merging of Tengen and Star Plasma Vessel). Couldn've fixed lots of problems.
Also I don't trust Tengen at all, after all she is probably older than Kenjaku and are we sure sure she is on sorcerers' side. She also is a reason multiple cults spawned out and they warshipped her as a deity and she did nothing...
Like this is a battle between to 1000+ years old body-hopping sorcerers who use other people/curses for their gain... something very fishy is going one and honestly, I'm actually very tired with constant fighting.... I need actual answers!!!

following my last post about reverse species kiri and spider
when thinking about the au, i didn't considered the fact that spider doesn't really need to have paz and quaritch's DNA, it could've just been one of the two, and i also think that technology there would've improved so much that he could've just been entirely made artificially. i did it because i just like the drama.
i was also very sleep deprived when i posted that au, so i didn't consider that the sully's might also adopt him since i don't think his appearance would trigger neytiri since he is, well, not a human.
of course, he could also get adopted by another family. but that's up in the air if anyone wants to think about it.
now, i could go into two different direction. one that kinda follows canon and the other is an entirely different story.
since he is born in a not so normal circumstances, spider would've still be visiting the scientests a lot. to get tested, and to see if everything is alright. that part stays the same, but this is where the branch would start to separate, the first one goes on to explore on entirely different story.
before Spider was even made, there was a lot of experiments that failed over and over again. they had successfully made human babies before but na'vi babies are different in biology and their purpose. artificially made human babies are alive, na'vi babies are made to be vessels; this experiment was created to make more avatars faster, and in large quantities.
so imagine everyone's surprise - more so freaked out - that Spider started to have a heartbeat just a few days after the humans were sent back to earth. it's faint, and you could barely hear it but its there. Norm frantically called over Jake, followed Neytiri who is convinced that it was Eywa's blessing, and she's probably right. like always.
Spider was taken out from the machine he was in (whatever it's called,, baby maker 3000) as soon as he tried to open his eyes and started spasming. it was the sound of a miracle that night, a newborn cry.
only when he did settle was when he was cradled in the arms of his mother. (inspired by @dirtytransmasc mama!neytiri au mwah i love you)
he would be the oldest, and i think his personality would reflect that. i don't think he would take Neteyam's place, but definitely more... responsible, and a teacher to his younger siblings if anything.
now on the topic of the movie, where he was kidnapped. there's a large possibility that he would've traded places with Kiri, that she would be kidnapped instead but let's focus on one idea first.
if Spider was kidnapped, he would've done the same thing as OG!Spider would, keeping his mouth shut and acting as if he doesn't know anything, but definitely more... aggressive, i would not be surprised if they bound and strapped him down. i do think they be more brutal to him as he and Quaritch do not share any history together, so there would be no bond between them. he could potentially warrant some pity points and go outside with the recoms to "loosen him up"
Spider doesn't try to run away since he could endanger his family and clan because of the tracker they put on him. so instead he tries to use other methods to ward them off, like trying to kill them with Ikrans or hunting like a "na'vi" with little to no instructions. hoping that one of them will die. they don't, unfortunately.
so he went through their plans, all the while making his own. maybe he could push one of them off the boat and let some fish eat them or maybe stab them in their sleep, a lot of ideas.
Spider tries to hide his anger towards the murdered Tulkuns, his disgust when they show off as if it's something to be proud of, he really did, but he couldn't help the hiss when they showed off the golden fluid taken directly from the poor mothers brain. so what if he purposely tripped them face first by extending his leg in their direction, not his fault that they can't see, and it was definitely their fault that they thought Spider even wanted to see this.
Spider did everything they want him to do, in hopes they will not kill him before he does. but one he regretted was agreeing to translate for the Metkayina tribe, for letting those monters burn down their homes, and threatening their lives. he has begged, cried, and screamed for forgiveness- for them stop. but they wouldn't, even when he latched onto Quaritch and fought him, made him bleed - bruised him.
Spider was sedated shortly after that.
ok....i have more.... but i will continue, later. following Quaritch threatening Kiri- all those juicy bits, and of course i will elaborate more on the other possibilities. again my inbox always open if you wanna talk more or questions, n all the sorts, thx !!

Combining The Battra Headcanons
I’ve been toying with this one ever since tosho89 started talking about Battra and his relationship with other Titans, and then I remembered the older posts about Battra not necessarily being a species exactly but being a collective of entities born as vessels of the Planet’s will and I thought about how they could be combined together to give a deeper and more comprehensive look at how Abraxas Battra functions.
Namely, Battra did start out as essentially just one from a wide number of identical ‘Battras’ - just beings born to represent the Will of the Planet, no different from drones in a hive. If you met one 'Battra’, then you met them all. They were basically mechanical and monotone, referring to fellow Titans by their designated function in the eyes of the Planet and not as actual individuals (for instance, any given Battra would just refer to Mothra as something like “Light Bringer” rather than her name or Ozymandias as “Chosen Scion” or something equally elaborate). Similarly, they themselves just referred to other Battras as 'vessels’ and never anything more - because that’s what they were. Nothing more, nothing less.
It’s only after some unholy cataclysm that ended up wiping out the entire collective that things started to change. Very few can say for certain what the cataclysm was (it was probably Bagan), but it not only destroyed the Battra collective but damaged the Planet so deeply that it was crippled in its ability to create new vessels for its will. It was only via sheer luck that a single vessel survived, and even then said vessel was heavily damaged and on the brink of death.
It was then that the then-current Alpha, Shimo, alongside Ozymandias came to the vessel’s aid. Mothra likewise probably followed soon after.
It took a very long time for the vessel - now christened solely as 'Battra’ - to understand and come to terms with things after it was recovered and nursed back to health. At first, it still thought purely in terms of the almost-mechanical terminology that the Planet conveyed itself through. The Planet still only treated Battra as a vessel to convey its intent, not as a person or an actual Titan in and of itself. But purely by exposure to Mothra, Shimo, and Ozy over time, Battra started to develop a personality of it - his own. Still a voice for The Planet’s Will, but with his own thoughts and opinions on things now that he realized there was more to being the Planet’s defender than just tending to it and ignoring all else - and the Planet came to understand the same.
Battra also probably at first found it odd that Mothra decided to pretty much adopt and christen him her “big brother”. Yes, Battra and his fellow vessels technically predate Mothra’s earliest known physical incarnation, but as a a spiritual existence, Mothra would far predate them as a whole. He got used to it once he developed his current personality, but it still feels a bit strange - even if he’s gotten VERY defensive of Mothra despite the fact she’s more than capable of protecting herself (though realistically, only Mothra, Shimo, Ozy, Battra himself, and Megalon would really know the truth of this since most might just see the similarities between the two and assume they’re actually related beyond just looking alike, not that any of them would ever explain what’s really going on if you ask).
From that perspective, having people to care for and who care for him in turn, a family, is likely still new to Battra and is something that’s hard for him to really process. Which no doubt made Ozy’s capture even worse for him and Shimo’s disappearance on top of that would have all but broke him. It makes sense then that nobody has seen Abraxasverse Battra for so long if the sudden loss of those two made him just return to his solemn duty and he distanced himself from everyone else, with Mothra simply never bringing him up because she didn’t know where he actually was in all that time.
---
Ooh, interesting. The idea that Battra goes from a collective to a single individual who slowly becomes his own individual is a fun thought exercise that can lead to its own brand of Angst and Drama on top of plot-related shenanigans.

Georges – "What If" or an Alternative Life
We all know how the life of Georges de La Fayette, only son of Adrienne and Gilbert turned out. Born into a life of privilege, separated for the first time from his family as a young boy to make sure that his father’s status would not interfere with his studies, he later had to flee with his tutor into the mountains and then to America. In America he was a constant wanderer before returning to France and joining his family in exile in Danish-Holstein. The family was finally able to return to France for good, Georges joined the Army, married, had children, became a politician, returned with his father to America in 1824/25 and finally inherited his title as Marquis de La Fayette – just like his two sons later inherited the title from him.
While his father, his mother and his sisters were all imprisoned at various points in time for various reasons and durations, Georges remained free and was able to live, relatively speaking, “comfortably” in America. But let us imagine for a moment how his life could or would have looked like if some things had been different. Because Georges was a family man – even as a grown man he lived with or near his parents (granted, their living arrangements were normally quite spacious, so …), he married the daughter of one of his father’s friends and colleagues, he followed his fathers into the military and in politics, he cared for his mother, he accompanied his father to America – what would happen if his family had died during the French Revolution? Not only his mother and father but maybe even his sisters? Chances were rather high, Adriennes life was threatened by illness and the guillotine (her grandmother, mother and sister were all guillotined) and La Fayette’s life was threatened by illness, the French warrant for his arrest and his status as a Prisoner of War in both Prussia and Austria.
This questions “how would Georges’ life look like” is not completely theoretical. When Adrienne send her son to America, she wrote both to James Monroe and to George Washington and her letters make it clear that she had planned for the eventuality that Georges maybe had to stay for a very long time in America.
Adrienne wrote in an undated letter, probably from November of 1794, to James Monroe:
I ask him kindly to look after my son. I want him to finish his education in an American house of commerce. It would appear to me preferable to set him up at the residence of a consul of the United States. I want him to join their navy, and if it is absolutely impossible for him to begin his first line of duty at sea on an American vessel, I would have him serve on a French merchant ship.
I encourage the minister of the United States to recall that my son was adopted by the state of Virginia in 1785, and that he still has his certificate as a citizen of that state. I foresee therefore no difficulty in his entering the service of this second country, friend and ally of the French Republic.
Papers of James Monroe, 3: 165; Bookmen’s Holiday, x: 20
She wrote secondly in a letter to George Washington on April 23, 1795:
Sir, I send you my son. (…) it is with the deepest and most sincere confidence that I put my dear child under the protection of the United States, which he has ever been accustomed to look upon as his second country, and which I myself have always considered as being our future home under the special protection of their President with whose feelings towards his father I am well acquainted.
The person [Félix Frestel] who accompanies George, has been, since our misfortunes, our support, our protector, our comfort, and my son’s guide. My desire is that he should continue to direct him, that, until his arrival, my son should remain privately in M. Russell’s [Joseph Russell] house, that, once united, they should never separate and that we may have some day the happiness of meeting all together in the land of liberty. To the noble efforts of that friend, my children owe the preservation of their mother’s life. (…) While receiving from him each day the examples of the most generous virtues, his heart was being formed for those noble feelings which have preserved and always will, I hope, preserve in his soul, the love of a country where such dear victims have been sacrificed, where his father is disowned and persecuted, and where his mother was during sixteen months confined in prison. The last sacrifice which this friend has made for us is that of separating himself from a family he dearly loves. (…) My wish is that my son should lead a very secluded life in America, that he should resume his studies interrupted by three years of misfortunes, and that, far from the land where so many events are taking place which might either dishearten or revolt him, he may become fit to fulfil the duties of a citizen of the United States whose feelings and whose principles will always agree with those of a French citizen. (…)

I shortened the letter in some parts but there is a complete version under the cut for everyone who is interested.
Adrienne gives very detailed instructions, how Georges should be brought up. In short, she wants him to:
Continue his education under Frestel’s tutelage, without too much ado
Start an apprenticeship, I believe, in a house of commerce
Work on an American merchant ship, or, if that is not possible, on a French merchant ship
Be the picture-perfect American citizen without forgetting his identity as a Frenchman
This is all pretty straight forward and we could end our little thought experiment here and take Adrienne’s instructions as the alternative life Georges could have lead. But I would like to elaborate on some aspects.
Félix Frestel
See, on this blog we appreciate Festel and all that he did. Adrienne herself wrote it in the letter to Washington how much the La Fayette’s owned to Frestel. He was Georges tutor long before the Revolution and likely also lived with him during this time. By all accounts he and Georges were close and Georges’ parents also liked and respected Frestel a lot. He risked his personal safety to hide George, helped Adrienne when her fate hung in the balance, he uprooted his entire life and left a family that he “dearly loved” to follow Georges to America – friendship and all things considered, this went clearly beyond the call of duty of a tutor. Adding to that my suspicion that he was not paid during the French Revolution. Both from a logistical and a financial point, paying Frestel would have been difficult and while we have letters from Adrienne to Monroe, asking him to do certain financial transactions for her, there is not letter from her reminding or asking him to pay Frestel. This is certainly no conclusive evidence but I have a very strong hunch.
In America, Frestel was father, friend and teacher for Georges and I am of the firm believe that he would not have easily deserted the boy, even if their stay in America would have been a longer one. I can think of two possible scenarios. One possible scenario would be that Frestel stayed with Georges until he boy would have reached his majority and finished his education in so far as that he was settled with an American merchant firm and learning there. Frestel might have returned then to France – he was free to do so, there was no warrant for his arrest and his name was not on the list of émigrés – and be reunited with his family. Since he was such a loyal soul and very devoted to his pupil, I could imagine him doing what Adrienne in reality did. Going back to France and trying to reclaim the possessions of the La Fayette family for Georges.
In the second scenario, Frestel decides to stay in America, possible because he had started his own family there. When he left France, he was unmarried and childless. It was therefor very possible for him to fall in love in America and decided to stay there with his family. Just as well he could take his wife and potential children with him back to France.
The Merchant Navy
While first reading Adrienne’s letters I found it quite peculiar that she was so insistent on the merchant navy. The merchants trade is one thing, but the service on a merchant ship means a live at sea and some potential dangers that you do not have, if you sit on dry land behind your desk. It could have been Georges expressed desire but since later in France as an adult he choose the Army over the Navy (and there is no indication that he ever considered the navy), I am somewhat doubting that. Life at sea however promised “adevntures”, comradery and occupation – all things that Georges would have needed and liked. Under British law, crew members of merchant ships were often pressed into the military service due to their skills and experiences. American law was different in that regard and Georges would not have worked as a common sailor, so he should have been all good on that front. Being at sea for long stretches of time was also making social engagements difficult. Adrienne had seen what politics can due to peaceful family life and she maybe intended to set Georges up in way where he would not join the politics of his time.
Being an American – Being a Frenchman
Adrienne herself wrote that she hopes her son “preserve in his soul, the love of a country where such dear victims have been sacrificed, where his father is disowned and persecuted, and where his mother was during sixteen months confined in prison”. Later in life, La Fayette wrote in a letter to his son that they should never forget, no matter what had happened or will happen, France is their country and their home. Georges was born and breed in Paris and he was a patriot. In the real turn of events, he would go on risking his life for France. The question therefor is, would he stay in America or return to France? Both are very real possibilities but, in our scenario, I lean more towards staying in America. We assume that his close family is dead (and with that more or less all family members on his father’s side) and many of his Noailles relatives were also dead or had fled the country (his mother’s father for example, he settled in Switzerland). He had extended family that settled into exile in Wittmold but even in reality he only joined them once his sisters and parents were freed and settled there as well. This extended family alone did not seem to be such a huge pull-factor for him. In our scenario he has nothing to return to, no family, no money, no title, no land – even if we assume that Frestel or Georges managed to get some of the family’s possessions back, they would have been empty, void of life and happiness. They would have been shadows, painful reminders of his former life and all that he had lost. Georges was utterly devoted to his family and to his father in particular. I do not think that he could just let go and start over without constantly lingering in the past. But then again, he was French. France was his home and everything that was left from his family was there in France. That again leads us to two possible scenarios.
In the first one, Georges stays in America. If someone was able to get some or all of the family’s former holdings back, he would maybe sell them and use the money to provide for the family he would (absolutely and definitely) start in America. He maybe would even start his own house of commerce. He could also use some of the money to provide for his father’s elderly widowed aunt still living in France. La Fayette had loved her dearly and vice versa. She would have been too old to come to America but Georges could find other means of making sure she was comfortable. He would inherit his father’s titles and probably not use them much, if at all, while in America. Instead referring to his father as “General La Fayette”
In the other scenario, Georges return to France, either with a wife he married while in America or he finds himself a wife in France. Either way, the girl in question would likely been the sister/daughter/niece/etc. of one of his father’s acquaintances. I could imagine that in France, and especially in Paris, even while serving in the merchant navy, there would have been high chances of Georges being caught up in his “old life”. In this scenario, I can very well see Georges enter politics and most importantly bump heads with Napoléon, just as his father would have done. But where Georges had his father’s opinions and views, he did not had his father later “immunity” towards Napoléon’s antipathy.
Anyway, this whole post has turned into a long “what if” rambling but if you made it to this point, I would be really interested to hear your opinions!
Adrienne to George Washington, April 18, 1795
Sir, I send you my son. Although I have not had the consolation of being listened to nor of obtaining from you those good offices which I thought likely to bring about his father’s delivery from the hands of our enemies, because your views were different from mine, nevertheless my reliance on your kindness is not diminished, and it is with the deepest and most sincere confidence that I put my dear child under the protection of the United States, which he has ever been accustomed to look upon as his second country, and which I myself have always considered as being our future home under the special protection of their President with whose feelings towards his father I am well acquainted.
Notwithstanding all the perils he encountered on his way, he made known to M. Morris the horrible situation I was in, and, after having had the courage to traverse the whole of France in those times of horror, following a prisoner, who was to all appearances devoted to death, he animated the zeal of the American minister to whose applications I probably owe that my sacrifice was deferred until the revolution of the 10th of Thermidor [July 28]. He will tell you that I have never given a pretext for any accusation against me, that my country can reproach me with nothing, and I myself will tell you that it is near him and with him that my son invariably learnt, even in the depth of misery, to discern between liberty and the horrors to which its name has been associated. While receiving from him each day the examples of the most generous virtues, his heart was being formed for those noble feelings which have preserved and always will, I hope, preserve in his soul, the love of a country where such dear victims have been sacrificed, where his father is disowned and persecuted, and where his mother was during sixteen months confined in prison. The last sacrifice which this friend has made for us is that of separating himself from a family he dearly loves. I ardently wish M. Washington to know what he is, and how much we are indebted to him. A letter will very in sufficiently fulfil my object. When shall I be able to do so myself? My wish is that my son should lead a very secluded life in America, that he should resume his studies interrupted by three years of misfortunes, and that, far from the land where so many events are taking place which might either dishearten or revolt him, he may become fit to fulfil the duties of a citizen of the United States whose feelings and whose principles will always agree with those of a French citizen. I shall not say anything here of my own position nor of the one which interests me still more than mine. I rely upon the bearer of this letter to interpret the feelings of my heart, too withered to express any others but those of the gratitude I owe to MM. Monroe, Skypwith, and Mountflorence for their kindness and their useful endeavours in my behalf. I beg M. Washington will accept the assurance etc.

Ch. 2 Crescent Moon
The Cullens
“How was school, love?” Brie asks as we make it into the house, “it was…strange. I met a girl and got to talk to her group of friends, they seemed okay.” I shrug my shoulders as I head up to my room.
Okay, firstly, the Cullens. An adoptive family, and bella is dating one of them. Who is Jasper and why is he so familiar? Why were they staring at me like that? Why was today so weird?!
I flop on my bed and ponder.
All of a sudden I get a flashback to my nightmare, That thing, its honey blonde fur… those eyes…those eyes! Thats why hes so familiar! He looks like the thing from my nightmare.
I shiver, the way he stared at me, we made eye contact…it felt like some sort of link. But why? Am I going insane? Probably.
I change my clothes and get my homework done, I even read a few chapters of a vampire novel to occupy my mind. Bad, bad idea. The nightmares only got worse.
This time, it was him, only his eyes were different, yellow—no, Golden. Like a predator chasing its prey, which was me, his eyes never once left me, I was tackled to the ground, his mouth opened wide and his teeth were sharp and big, I felt so insignificant as his mouth rushed to my neck, then I woke up.
“Damnit!” I shake my head.
“Tuesday mornings, gotta love em.” I get out of my new cold and comfortable bed to enter that muggy hell hole.
The students are Always so loud…
Jasper Pov
That girl…who was she? And why did she smell…different? I would have done something unspeakable, and at the time, it felt like it would be worth it. To drain her body of everything, she smelled so…so sweet, so fragrant, so appealing. I throw my head backwards in my chair. What is wrong with me? I need to get a grip!
“Its not unusual you know?” In my doorway was Edward, this prick.
“It would be lovely if you could stop picking my brain. Thanks.” I roll my eyes. “Thats how I felt the first time I met Bella, it wont do you any good to run, trust me—I know.” He smirks at me.
“This is serious! How am I going to survive a day without wanting to—eat her!?”
“You can get used to it, the urges will go away sometimes, and come back other times, but youre in control.” He walks closer and pats my shoulders. “Sometimes isnt good enough! And why are you talking about her as if we’ve already established a relationship?”
He looks at me with a look only we know—“Alice.” We both say in unison, should have known.
“As you heard earlier today, her name is Abril Torrez. Shes from Peurto Plata, Dominican Republic and she loves purple, and books, shes a softy once you get under that hard shell, fun to be around—shes a delight Jaz, youre all gonna love her!”
She blabbers on and on about this Abril girl, I could care less about, shes just made it harder for me to stay in control, as if it wasnt hard enough already. Just thinking of her—my throat is so dry it burns!”
“Guh! We need to go hunting now! Before I make a run for it.”
Abril Pov
I cant wait until this week is over, these clothes are unbelievably unbearable! Its like my legs are being held captive and put on display!
Me and Bella talk Majority of first hour, it was nice to have someone calm to talk to, she was so nice and cool, in an older sister kind of way.
I really want this friendship to work, not like the other ones.
Time flies and eventually im face to face with the door to fourth hour, I take a deep breath and step in. Hes there, in all his glory, just like yester…day?
His eyes…! Theyre Golden?
His face contorts to confusion as I sit down, he wont stop staring, theres only so much eye contact I can avoid, is he looking at my face? I adjust myself and my hair to cover my cheeks as I put my head down.
Jasper Pov
Why was she so taken aback? Was she expecting me not to be here? She’s uncomfortable. I shift the atmosphere to make her a bit more approachable, shes still shy, she uses her hair to cover her face, now that I think about it, I’ve never paid attention to her as a whole, I only viewed her as a vessel of sweet—no.
Ill try to put what Alice said into practice.
Her hair, its a dark brown with nice shiny coils, it has volume and looks good with her brown skin complexion. Her eyes are a soft slanted almond, big but subtle at the same time…her lips, full and two toned, her body is what every girl would dream of, curvaceous yet slim, she wears a silver necklace with an initial, ‘B’ who is B?
Why should I care?
“How are you today?” I say to her, she jumps in response, I have to tone her down just a bit more. Her shoulders relax as she tries to generate a response. “Im doing okay for a Tuesday…” she starts to slide the B initial on her necklace back and forth. “Sorry I didnt speak yesterday, I was a bit crabby.” I chuckle to loosen the mood.
“Its okay, everyone has their days.” She looks up at me and offers a soft smile. If I had a working heart it would have fluttered, her heart shaped face was hit with the light above us, her eyes seemed to grow brighter when her eyes met mine.
I couldn’t bring myself to look away from them…
“Who is B, if you dont mind me asking.” I look down at the necklace in between her index and thumb. “Oh, my Godmother, her name is Brie.” Her tone had nothing but gratitude and adoration in it. “You sound very fond of her.” She laughed softly. “I am. Shes an amazing woman.”
How sweet, Alice was right, thinking of someone as a person does help the thirst, I need to apologize.
The day goes by as normal, only there was this urge to get to know more, it was an itch that needed to be scratched—to know everything about her, why is that?
A woman later came at the end of the day to pick Abril up, the one Im, guessing is her godmother—Brie she said, like the cheese, how weird.
I followed the car far behind in the woods, I took a mental note of her address and left. I made my mind up, im going to learn as much as possible about her so i can fight these urges, this is how ill cope.
Who are you Abril? And why am I so drawn to you?

Th€yne? Thram$ay? Gre¥$now? Nah man, let's Stan the true unproblematic hot Ironborn x thirsty Mainlander OTP:
Captain of the Myraham's daughter x Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter.
I want them to hook up. Let the captain of the Myraham's daughter live her erotic saltwife fantasy with the one (1) woman in Asha's crew that we know of, the one ironborn hot murderous pirate who would actually understand the struggle that is to act as a narrative prop for some authorial entity to showcase one of the Greyjoy's siblings lack of ideological integrity.
I have been marinating in my own theories with little to no contact with the fandom since 2016. I have a lot of weird non-sensical thoughts that might be overreaching in their significance but you know that already and the worst possible thing that could develop from posting this is that people will laugh at it.
I think that Kyra and Urri serve as similar narrative props for Theon & Aeron, I think Jeyne & Falia also serve as similar narrative props for Theon & Aeron and I also think that the Captain of the Myraham's Daughter & Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter serve as similar props for Theon & Asha.
In Theon's case the concept of the captain of the myraham's daughter has already been discussed countless times and in all honesty I don't have much to add to it. Yes, he does treat her rather disrespectfully, he does take advantage of her in a way, he doesn't really care for her physical pleasure, he is dismissive of her uneasiness and has a few unkind thoughts about her which made him so loathsome, but all in all I wouldn't call him abusive or violent. Just disappointing.
There is something unbelievably funny about how bad that sexual encounter goes though. The captain of the myraham's daughter is endearingly enthusiastic about the concept of thraldom and salt wives and even begs Theon to take her with him, something he denies her.
Why though? He has been romanticising the Old Way (Or what he thinks he understands about this idolised and romanticised view of the Old Way) the entire journey and if he truly considers himself to be one of the exemplary Ironborns who would take what they wanted with no qualms, why does he leave her there? She could have even served as an example of virility or status, a mark to say "I am Ironborn. I haven't forgotten our history and culture."
But no, he just leaves her there to the mercy of an angry father.
I know she has been read as a narrative vessel hundreds of times and she is one, but the message behind her presence varies depending on interpretation and, to me, this could be (among other things) a way of displaying Theon's subconscious lack of ideological compromise, which we see often through the text (his reaction to the raids on the stony shore, his disappointment at how commonly the other Ironborn treat him, Smiler, etc.)
To me Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter is also evidence for an ideological divide concerning Ironborn culture and tradition, but she is there to signify Asha's, not Theon's.
Ironborn culture is so interesting to me and I tend to think of it more fondly than I'm probably supposed to because of hundreds of reasons I've already told you about and one of those is that it allows women more liberties than most of Westeros but still chains them to a place of submission compared to men. A woman might be the captain of her own ship, which would make her a queen if going by Theon.
"If every captain was a king aboard his own ship, as was often said, it was small wonder they named the islands the land of ten thousand kings." (Theon | ACOK)
I think on the video games they could even become priestesses for the Drowned God, so if going by that as canon world-building (we shouldn't but it would be cool) they could also find a place in religious organisations. They can be stewards. The only two female stewards we have met in asoiaf are Iron Islanders (Manifesting for Noseless Jeyne to become Pyke or Harlaw's steward at the end of ADOS).
And yet...the most gender-non-conforming Ironborn woman we've met, asides from Asha...doesn't even get a name.
It seems curious to me how Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter is only known as that: "Hagen's daughter" and this coming from ASHA out of all characters who is actively struggling with her culture's sexism in order to get the seastone chair for herself.
Most Iroborn characters are referred to by mentioning some physical feature or disability accompanying their name, but in her case, instead of her name, we get her father's name used with a possessive apostrophe.
The main difference between Asha's character archetype and Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter's, is that one of them is lowborn and the other not, which could be a way of highlighting how class differences still exist among Ironborn, who consider themselves to be equals in their superiority of other races but still have a feudal hierarchy, but in all honesty the class issue is (in my opinion) overshadowed by how both characters identities are so depending on their fathers.
The text often remarks on Asha as someone who was "groomed" (the very use of that word in fanon text already has some unconscious troublesome connotation I don't agree with) into her personality by her father.
This girl forgets herself. Balon let her believe she was a man." "Balon’s sons are dead. All I see is Balon’s little daughter!" (Aeron | AFFC)
Never do they ever speak of her as "Asha" when it is about her wanting the crown; it's about Balon's daughter. (In a way it reminds me of the Northerner's going to save Arya and also not referring to her as such. They speak of "Ned's girl")
But anyway, I never really expected them to refer to Asha as Asha, but I would have hoped Asha would have been conscious enough of her struggles to recognise her fellow warrior woman as more than just her father's shadow.
Whenever people speculate on how Asha's interactions with other gender-non-conforming women (ex. Brienne, Arya) might look like, I just think of Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter. and wonder whether this comes from a place of class privilege or unconsciousness against the thing she is consciously fighting against.
I have no idea what Asha's endgame might look like and usually, I like seeing her as Theon's puppeteer, but if we have to witness her settling to be the unofficial ruler or perhaps not even a ruler at all, it would be sad to see her haunted by her father's shadow. It also makes me wonder whether she really ever had a chance at the Kingsmoot.
Whatever, another possibility I like to fantasise about is simply that Asha and Hagen's beautiful red haired daughter hooked up, dated, had a messy breakup and now Asha is trying to distance herself from her.
That's a funnier alternative. Would also add angst and maybe some comedic potential to the nameless ladies OTP.
Ship, ship, ship, I ship.

Jack Al Ghul
Jack had no idea his adoptive family waws receiving money from anywhere other than whatever his dad did for work. He assumed the money he got for his wedding was from his adoptive parents.
Given that Talia had a Damian replacement ready to go and set him to kill Damian, if Damian had failed too often like Jack, likely she would have let him die and tried again. If she didn't have enough material to try to recreate Damian again, she'd go back to the source, Bruce probably wouldn't say no to a night of fun and wouldn't notice if she took some samples.
And if he did say no, she likely wouldn't care to listen.
Talia goes very back and forth on how much and how she cares for her son. On the one hand, he's part of her and her Beloved, the man who almost managed to inspire her to leave her father and her brainwashing behind and she does care for him for that if nothing else. On the other, Damian is a potential vessel for her father, the man who has raised her to be loyal and devoted to him above all else, and so she must maintain some level of distance from the vessel that will eventually be filled by her father rather than by it's original inhabitant. When Talia sent Damian to his father, it could be argued that she sent him for physical safety of her father's vessel just as much as for her son.
In at least one instance in history, a woman was in charge of a fortress that was being put to siege. The enemy managed to get their hands on her child, or children, the only offspring that she had. They threatened to kill the child or children, I do not remember which, if she did not surrender. Her response? She lifted her skirts and proclaimed she had the ability to make more. Unless I'm misremembering terribly, she won her conflict. The child may or may not have survived.
Talia is a bit like that.
I remember hearing about that moment in history! Explaining this Talia likes that makes perfect sense and is a great comparison.
Friendly reminder that Talia's SA of Bruce was retconned, but it's totally alright to explore different dynamics in AUs (especially since it was canon at one point and thus affected that storyline/those characters).
Talia's mindset about Damian is certainly an interesting one to try to navigate. There's a ton of differing characterizations for her. A really intriguing way to look at Talia and Damian's relationship is to compare it to how Talia and Ra's interact. Due to how Ra's treats/feels about Talia, this for sure impacts Talia as a parent. I'm curious how close their parenting style is (it's probably a bit different due to Ra's still holding a significant amount of power of Talia when there's no one above Ra's).
Anyways, the dysfunctional al Ghul dynamics for this AU would be very interesting to juxtapose with how the Waynes are dysfunctional.

MY REASON | TWO
Tumblr media
pairing: leonardo hamato x black! fem! reader
word count: 1.4k
warnings: angst, character death, fluff, tooth-rotting love, depression, trauma, limes, profanity, i’ll add more if i remember
a/n: so this is a rottmnt movie fic, with heavy emphasis on the time during the apocalypse. and i spell Kraang like this. i just feel like it makes sense. oh, and Leo gets sent into the portal along with Casey. this is so self-insert omg
and ik it seems like the reader cries a lot, and it’s cause she’s an emotional crier like me. i’ll cry when im happy, angry, sad, frustrated, the whole nine. and like i said before, this is very much self insert.
(10 years later)
...
“No,” you dismissed, your voice dangerously low. “We’re not doing that to him. End of discussion.”
“But, (n/n), if there’s a possibility--.” “He is just a boy, Leo! I’m not about to let him think he’s the only person who can save the world, some martyr for the cause!” you snapped, abruptly sitting up from your seat.
A floating flame appeared above your head, it’s intensity stronger than usual.
Since you were a fire-yokai, you had the ability to turn into literal fire, thus, when you get too angry, a flame floats over your head.
“He wouldn’t be a martyr, just an...intervention, of sorts,” Leo winced, the word martyr making him think of the worse.
“You’d be sending him to his death. Or traumatizing him at the very least,” you glared, Leo gulping heavily at your icy stare.
“Well around here isn’t much better. The Kraang close in by the day, and we’re running out of options,” Donnie sighed, motioning his hand to the window, which displayed the gigantic Kraang bots in the far distance.
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Your closest friends, no, your family, were actually debating whether or not to send your adopted son to the past someday soon, to stop the Kraang invasion before it could happen.
“I assume you’ve already calculated the probability then,” you turned to Don, him take the deep sigh and pulling it up on his wrist.
“It is, quite literally, a billion to one chance,” he stated, his hologram pulling up a skull and crossbones.
“And there’s no guarantee that I would send him to the day it went down, or any time around then. Something like this has never been done before. For all I know, I could send him to colonial times,” Mikey explained, throwing his hands in the air at the last part.
“April,” you pleadingly asked, looking for some sort of assistance, but she only hung her head.
“We gotta face the facts. We’re outgunned, out-manned, out-numbered, and out of ideas. This may be our only chance.”
You balled your fists, angry tears beginning to well in your eyes. The amount of frustration coursing through your veins was enough to make you pop a blood vessel.
“You all know what Cassandra did, what Cassandra sacrificed, in order to keep that boy safe. And you know that she trusted me to raise him right and keep him alive, for as long as I humanly could. I can’t let you send him back in time, without any possible way of getting back or any warning as to what he’s up against,” your gaze now back on Leo, his eyes desperately trying to apologize.
April sighed, standing up from her seat. “Look, Cassandra did what she had to do to keep the Resistance going. It’s something we’ve all vowed to do if...that time...so happens to come. But what’s happening now, is happening now. And if Casey is a possible solution, than we have to act on it.”
The lump festering in your throat doubled, making it feel near impossible to breathe. You knew what she was going to say next, and you didn’t want to hear a word of it.
“If worse comes to worse, we have to face the fact that if it comes down to Casey or the collective, we have to choose the collective.”
And with that, you immediately got up, making your way out the room.
“(n/--.” “I need to be alone right now,” you dismissed Leo coldly, flipping open the tent flap and walking out, leaving everyone inside, silent.
...
Now on the “roof” of the barracks, which was really just a closed in cave, you looked out into the purple-skied horizon, the technodrome’s ominous silhouette plaguing the view.
“Hey, Mom,” a familiar, puberty-ridden voice greeted softly, making it’s way closer before sitting next to you.
It was Casey.
‘Shit.’
You quickly wiped your face of the tear-streaks, turning to your son with your trademarked hollow smile.
“Hey, Case,” you cheesed, turning to the boy.
You were so proud of how much he had grown, his fighting skill and expertise with his weapon making him top of his class.
He was on the fast track to becoming Leo’s right hand.
His expression immediately turned sour, your unhappiness sticking out like a green thumb.
“What’s wrong? You’re doing your mom thing again,” he asked sincerely, a hand on your shoulder.
You scoffed with a smile, “What mom thing?”
“The one where you pretend you’re fine when you’re not,” he answered seriously, his concern only growing. “What’s wrong? If it’s heavy, I’m sure I can take it.”
You took a deep sigh, looking out at the horizon once more as you tried to find the words, remembering a conversation you and a certain turtle had almost 10 years ago.
“I never wanted this for you. For any of you kids. I know it’s rehashed, but I just can’t shake this feeling of guilt I get when I see the way you kids were forced to grow up. Hell, you’re 16. You should be going to arcades and eating pizza and hanging out with friends,” the pleasant memories rolling in like a calm tide, washing you in some much needed nostalgia.
Your first pizza date with Leon, playing video games with Donnie, skating with Mikey, thoughtful talks with Raph.
“Ar-cades?” Casey slowly asked, the word alien to him.
You sighed. “The first generation understands what it was like before the invasion, and what it was like when it happened. And I just can’t help but feel like we could’ve stopped this all from happening if we had just been more careful, more experienced, not so childish.”
Casey let out a polite snicker, “Kinda hard to do when you’re teenagers, Mom.”
You snickered as well, an embarrassed blush growing on your cheeks from how silly that sounded.
“You can’t keep beating yourself up for things that happened in the past. We’re in the here and now. And right now, I need my badass, fire-flinging mom to help us fight against the Kraang,” he smiled, resting his head against your shoulder as he looked out in the distance.
You smiled, pulling your son into a warm hug, resting your head on his.
Even if he wasn’t your flesh and blood, Casey felt like your son all the same. You love him to the ends of the Earth, and would lay down your life in a heartbeat.
“I love you so much, Casey. You know that?” you contently sighed.
“Yeah,” he smiled, looking up at you before out into the horizon.
“I know.”
...
After your exchange with Casey on the roof, and your own time to think, you finally came to a decision, and knew you had to tell Leo.
You walked into your shared tent to see him laying on the makeshift bed, his back facing the door.
“Not right now, Don,” he sighed, as if he were a moody teenager.
It took everything to stifle a giggle at the familiar memories.
“Alright then, I’ll come back later,” you cheekily shrugged, turning around to head out.
He immediately shot up, snapping his head over to you. “(n/n)! Wait!”
He jumped out of bed and quickly grabbed your arm, turning you around and pulling you into a hug in one motion.
You smiled, hugging him back just as tight, the weight of his prosthetic arm still something to get used to.
“(n/n), I’m s--.” “Shut up,” you hushed, putting a finger to his mouth.
“I’m the one who should be sorry. I caused a scene and was being selfish. I can’t just think of us when we have a whole camp to look after. And I want you to know that I support you, whatever you decide to do,” you smiled, cupping his cheek in your hand.
He smiled, picking you up bridal style and peppering your face in kisses, your giggles like music to his ears.
This was the (y/n) he had known all those years ago. Slowly but surely, she was coming back.
He just needed to have patience.
Suddenly, you attached your lips to his, turning the innocent kisses into something...different.
The kiss was hot, and made Leo feel almost light headed.
You hadn’t kissed him like this in a while.
“Is there anyway I can,” you had a devilish grin stretched on your face as you dragged your finger up and down his plastron, “make it up to you?”
Leo’s jaw dropped at the insinuation, before quickly recovering into his usual cocky grin.
“I can think of a few things,” he growled, quickly tying the tent flaps shut.

Hello! I was wondering whether I could ask you how you came up with your headcanons about Maudie and Auriel?
hiiiii! and yes, of course! I always like rambling about those two, I love them so much!
So, Maudie just sort of strolled on in and took over while I was writing Empty Vessel - all I knew about her at first was her name and that Bard had loved her to distraction, but gradually she grew a little more fleshed-out, and by the time Bard told Thranduil a bit more about her, I knew that she was very little but with a very big personality, and probably would have climbed Thranduil like a tree given half a chance. XD And then I started writing Break You But You'll Mend, in which she is an actual character, returned to life in Valinor because Auriel gave the Valar a piece of her mind (which tells you a lot about Auriel :D ), and she really started talking. I woke up one morning with an image in my head of her curled up against Thranduil with him curled more or less completely around her, given that he's about a foot and a half taller than she is, and then wrote the chapter that led to that - in which she flirted enormously - and it all kind of went on from there. The lovely @mihrsuri has also been giving me all manner of ideas about her which I'm still percolating, but suffice to say that if anyone ever crosses her, especially when it comes to Bard, Thranduil or Auriel, or her children, there will be Trouble with a capital T.
Auriel, meanwhile, is more than half the creation of my fabulous beta reader @lemurious - when I started out, again, I only had her name and the knowledge that losing her was absolutely why Thranduil is Like That in the films, but lemurious came up with her backstory - she is the adopted daughter of Thingol and Melian, and her biological father is Celegorm, although she will not thank you for bringing that up. She is, however, Fëanorian through and through, much to her chagrin, she has a will of iron (see: standing up to the Valar), does not put up with any of Thranduil's ridiculousness, and loves him and Legolas to no end. She's developed gradually as well, and it is an endless joy to find that she and Maudie are really rather smitten with each other - hence the Valinor OT4, consisting of the two of them and their very lovely husbands, who are of course also each other's husbands. :D
Their modern AU counterparts, Katy and Anna, are rather less well-developed in my head, but that's mainly because I haven't really had the chance to meet them yet, but I'm hoping that one of these days I'll get that opportunity. I do feel bad about killing them off, but I feel like widowerhood is a really important part of Bard's and Thranduil's characters, given what we see of them in the films (I am unashamedly movieverse here), and it's not the same for me if they're divorced. I also don't do well with conflict and relationships that end badly, so for me I'd rather write them as beloved-but-gone than as no-longer-beloved. One of these days I probably ought to write a modern OT4, which would solve the problems quite nicely. Not sure how it would arise, but...well, we shall see what happens. As always I am at the mercy of the characters - I write what they tell me when they tell me it, so I discover the story as I go along. I'm definitely a pantser rather than a planner!
wheee, thank you so much for asking, this was huge fun! <33333333 if anyone else would like to ask me about any of my fics, I will always be delighted to answer!

A good headcanon/theory @papabirdurskeks has come up with
For anyone else who doesn't ship Henchdevil but we can't deny they cherish each other
I had come up some days ago with the fact he's essentially his friend/nanny/confident/service demon. We don't know his age nor other demons', but we can suppose he was either a fallen angel too, or was born a demon. Or created a demon, and thus created by the Devil himself, which could be what Deekideke could have implied back in Summer when they said he was super caring to Devil because it was his purpose when created (and his purpose to adore him too which is a reason why I can't ship it)
Well she came up with an interesting point, which could also fit with the lore implications the Devil actually isn't so evil deeeeeeeeeep down : what if Henchman was part of his former self he materialized ? He looks nothing like other demons, is pinkish purple which seems to be a palette the Devil loves and puts everywhere, he's actually colorful even Stickler 's green is dull but Henchman is the one colorful imp, and he is the only nice demon who despite that the Devil never kills no matter how easily he kills other imps. As I had said in the previous post about their relationship it must be because he got attached to that servant he created to serve him (and is of course a di a tsundere about it) like an edgy teenager who's all "FUCK OFF MOM" but would kill for said mom. But it could also be, like Mat said, because he represents simpler, happy times. Plus, who can take better care of you than your own altered self given a consciousness ?
He obviously has issues and wants to be adored which he hides under an "I loved to be feared and hated" behavior which is probably a form of denial he adopted ever since he ceased to be an angel and accept his new life, but looking at Henchman, the last vessel of his past, naive, caring and colorful angelic self both annoys and makes him cringe for how "naive and stupid" he was and owns him bops on the head and shoving, but he also gives him fond memories just from looking at him. Henchman grew to be his own different person, with different opinions and thoughts, and the Devil knows that, yet ironically it allowed him to genuinely appreciate him more. And in a twisted way appreciate himself too
