Honestly think it'd be hilarious if people brought the same energy they use on hating Dick for "giving robin to Damian" to the actual person who made Damian robin you know this motherfucker

bruce wayne reaches a hand down to gotham and says: i love you. you are better. you can be more than who you are today. you can be more than you ever expected to be. i believe in you, and your ultimate capacity for good. i will not leave you here. you can change. i will help you do it.
and stephanie brown looks gotham directly in the eye and says: fuck them. we are more than what we came from. we are more than what was done to us. we are not what others force us to be. we define ourselves by what we do, and what we will do. and we will rise.

I’ve just realised another reason why Edward Cullen is an idiot. He acts like provoking the Volturi is the only surefire way to die, but surely he could’ve had a similar effect by provoking some random nomads, and brought way less danger on the rest of the family? Sure, it would’ve taken longer, but he wouldn’t have had to go all the way to Italy or deal with a possible refusal, or Aro’s creepiness. Idk, just seems like a better way
#like i know there’s no guarantee of 1) being able to find murderous nomads or that 2) said murderous nomads would know how#to kill another vampire; but i figure edward has the best shot of anyone at figuring those things out#he can literally read minds. if there’s ANY other vamp in the vicinity he’ll find out quickly; and he could also read their mind to find out#if they knew other vampires’ weaknesses. hell he could’ve killed a random other vamp by fire & caused their mate to avenge them#using the method they now knew would work#he could also have self-destructed via werewolves but i guess that would’ve brought the pack down on the rest of the cullens#also it would require edward to hurt a human or at least convincingly pretend to and we Know he wouldn’t do that 🙄#he’s such a weird and tedious little man honestly. the fact that the plot of the next two books pretty much only happened because edward#decided that exposing himself to italians was a better idea than like… tracking down victoria or maybe someone carlisle knows#&picking a fight. edward i would love to study you#personal#also yes i am rewatching eclipse. and what about it#just realised edward could honestly have just asked some random nomads to kill him and they would probably have done it#like maria? jasper’s maria?? she absolutely would have killed him just to practice#sidenote but maria is one of the BIGGEST loose ends in the series for me. like i am dying to know where she ended up#her and that other dhampir kid’s father who was apparently a fucking scientist or something??#steph put so much crazy shit into these books and then never brought it up again. she answered ONLY the wrong questions and for what#it is no fucking wonder i was obsessed with twilight fanfic for a hot second as a teen…. the people need to know what’s going on#i’ve never seen a writer have so many potentially interesting ideas but execute them so badly#i want to study steph as well but i know the answer to everything she does is just mormonism so it’d be disappointing ultimately

Okay, but how would you know if Bruce is really into you or committed to you? I'm curious to know your take on this 🫶🏼 Thank you for always taking the time to answer xx
Thank you for being interested in my opinions, and I love to yap about Brucie so any question is appreciated. Thank you for always being patient with me 💖
I think the key things to look out for would be;
He makes time for you. He has a busy social life, many business related duties, a huge family, and a dual identity in the night. He’s stretched thin and far between, so for him to be deliberate making the attempt to spend quality time with you is big.
He introduces you to said family. Sure, you’ll meet Alfred pretty early on, and you’re likely to run into Duke and Damian who live at the manor at some point. Some, once they’ve caught wind of you might try ty to ‘accidentally’ bump into you (Steph, Dick) But there's a lot more than that, and they’re chaotic, and loud, and just a lot, but they’re his. So if he throws you in the deep end it’s because he’s routing on you to come up swimming.
Sidenote: While difficult, if possible he will try to introduce you to Damian last. Not because of any weird family/step parent-esque concerns. Because Damian has impossibly high standards and he's hoping Dick might be able to but in a good word first.
He tries to communicate with you. Obviously, he talks, but emotionally he’s very closed off, not without good reason, but also not in a healthy way. It’s a good trait to have when you don’t want people getting attached, but he knows it’s a habit he has to break if he wants you to stick around. It’ll be slow and difficult, sometimes it’ll feel like 1 step forward, 3 steps back, but he’ll work on it and that’s what’s important.

Everymanhybrid headcanons you have?
Ohmygod you have just opened pandoras box my friend and I thank you so much for it Before Slendy/The EMH channel: So I'd like to think all the boys met in Highschool with Jeff and Vinny meeting first and Evan joining the friend group around sophomore year. Evan gives me the vibes of an extrovert who adopted two introverts and never left them. He was also probably the one who introduced them to their other friends (Nick, Daniel, etc) and the rest is history !
They all like skateboarding, mainly Evan. He's the one who taught the other two how to with Vinny absolutely KILLING it and Jeff.... not so much.
This is less headcanon and more canon since Vinny and Jeff have guitars lying around. But they all play some sort of instruments and have definitely thought about making a band before. Jeff would be on the guitar, Vinny maybe the bass or keyboard, and Evan would go crazy as a drummer.
Speaking of which Vinny and Jeff give me big band kid energy. Mainly Jeff.
I can also see Vinny being a theater kid.
OH! Steph was homeschooled and chronically online (in a millennial way) because of it. This lead her into so many fandoms and she wrote so much cringe fanfiction. Some she wouldn't even let Evan see.
Also Steph is really into 2000s animated MTV shows and kinned Pheobe from Downtown.
One more thing about Steph because I love her and I'm 100% not projecting onto her ;D She loves mindless self indulgence, she wants revenge, and modest mouse. I feel like Vinny and her bonded over music, especially Modest Mouse.
After slendy/emh channel: Vinny is a very big Modest Mouse fan, like listened to all the albums and probably knows the bandmembers names and lore. His favorite album is "The Moon and Antarctica" which became a comfort album during his time living with Habit. He listened to "Alone down there" over and over because it reminded him of his friendship with Evan.
Sidenote if you haven't listened to "The moon and antarctica" you really should cause most of the songs give me EMH vibes. Especially Alone Down There and Tiny Cities made of Ashes. I honestly want to make a analysis on that album and how it fits with EMH, but that's for another time. :D Back to headcanons. Habit loves frustrating boardgames like monopoly or uno. Mostly because he feeds off the emotions. When Vinny lived with Habit, he would always bug him about playing Monopoly specifically. Vinny gave in one time and played for a bit until he realized Habit was somehow cheating.
Habit also ate the pieces in front of Vinny as a power move.
He also likes how metal tastes.
Habit might have pica.
That's all for now because if I go on any longer I'd start writing a whole ass book. If you'd like more headcanons I'd be glad to post some cause I have plenty !! Sorry if anything here is confusing I'm bad at putting thoughts into words sometimes XD
if you've read this far, here have an Evan:

jason would have the prettiest handwriting in the world bc this is a stationary-loving old school pen pal kind of bitch... in blue devil 19 (and this is teeeeechnically i believe pre crisis jay) the letterer did a sample of one of jasons letters and he has a nice cursive there. and we *can* apply this to post crisis jason who was a fifth grade dropout and would have started again when he was 12 or so-- 5th grade is 10-11 year olds so he probably lost a full schoolyear. i know i started learning cursive (as opposed to printing) in 3rd grade but i also think that leading up to dropping out Jason wouldn't have been able to completely apply himself to school at all incl things like Pretty Handwriting bc yk. sick mom/MIA dad, thats a lot of stress even if you dont factor in what food insecurity does to your capacity to do. anything. SO this would have to be something jason practiced in his own time even moreso than your average teenager who decides to have the most beautiful handwriting in his creative writing class. the question then becomes Would Jason Go Out Of His Way To Devote His Time To Perfecting This and, well. jason would go out of his way to perfect anything under the right circumstances lbr.
but i think more likely than not he would. the only thing stopping me is smth like, if a teacher ever like humiliated him in front of classmates by calling his handwriting unreadable theres always a chance jason would refuse to change the way he writes out of spite (don't @ me, he was a lil petty even in his original run as robin), and like. sidenote. i think something like that would get *steph* to go out of her way to improve her writing to prove them wrong but i think what jason would do would refuse to change his writing but continue to excel in the class, like forcing the teacher to give him perfect marks on smth that was almost but not quite illegible, its a subtle but important distinction to me. anyway--
actually no fkkdkvlffk i just pictured like. jay complaining about the jerk teacher to alfred and bruce and what winds up happening is Bruce comes in to read jasons essay to the teacher out loud for them. but also very jovially suggests that if jasons writing is so difficult to read the school can provide accommodations for typing perhaps instead of berating a disadvantaged child in front of their peers. jason:
Tumblr media
but that can actually Still Happen if jason later decides he wants to have the prettiest handwriting bc other things could spark that like. tbh. im fairly certain dick has good handwriting that he didn't actually have to go out of his way to achieve (part of jasons problem imo is that his brain goes a lot faster than he's able to write down so he was just trying to get it all down as fast as possible--dick i think is generally more deliberate about what he actually writes down vs keeps in his head so he never picked up bad handwriting habits by going way too fast). and Jason's competitive about dickie and "nicer cursive" is both an achievable goal (compared to say better acrobatics/better robining in general) and also one he can have plausible deniability about if anyone made the connection. and other things could cause or contribute to wanting to do this too-- a crush on a pen pal for example. or even just talking about it with alfred whose opinion he valued and who always values presentation.
anyway yeah Jason Todd fountain pens jason ajd donna go to the stationary store together send tweet

Do you have any Huntress/Helena Bertinelli issue or comic run recs? 👉👈 you have infected me with helena brainrot (positive)
So There are a two ways I can answer this question, the way i did previously with just the comics I'd recommend to get started or a full timeline for her- This time ill go with the full timeline. If you just wanna dip your metaphorical toes in the water check out this post, if you want to read her story from start to finish this is the post for you.
FIRST SOME CONTEXT ON HELENA BERTINELLI'S CHARACTER CREATION. Pre Crisis on Infinite Earth's there was a character known as Helena Wayne, she was the daughter of Earth Two's Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle and was The Huntress. She was fairly popular but the whole uhh massive crisis event erased her from continuity. The problem was people still wanted Huntress she was a recognizable name and also just people liked her so Helena Bertinelli was created. Despite sharing a first name and a superhero name Helena B and Helena W are INCREDIBLY different characters in personality and just.. in like every conceivable way. Alrighty now lets get started, Helena Bertinelli makes her first ever appearance in The Huntress(1989) I really like this comic run. It's pretty intense dealing with both CSA as well as SA but i think it does it pretty respectfully and well. Overall I really like this comic, that being said the art is a bit... rough, so i understand not wanting to read it. The Huntress(1989) 'era' of Helena ends with Justice League International Special 2, which btw if anyone has an actual good scan of this please let me know because my scan is ASS Then we got Detective comics #652-653 which has Helena's new costume and a team up with B-Man himself. Now its time for Robin III: Cry Of the Huntress- This is the first Helena and Tim team up!! I love them so much they r so silly so I consider this book required reading, also Helena has an awful mullet it's amazing Helena also has another story with Tim around this time in Benedictions which is a three part story in Dc Showcase 1994 # 5, Robin(1993) #6 , Showcase #6. Azrael is also running around as Batman during this so thats fun and quirky(i like azbat okay)
Next is Dixon's Helena with Huntress(1994) ERMM this is a comic that exists. It has some panels I like but i don't think its required reading it's uhh... Dixon!! and WOagh no wayyy another tim team up its almost like they are siblings bffs 5ever this is crazy Detective Comics #685-686 and Robin #17 also sidenote i like Lynx's 90's design a lot sighh Next is a string of complicated and long story lines. With Batman Contagion, Batman Legacy, Batman Catacylsm, and Batman No Man's Land. Also she gets her best outfit here yayyy :). Now parsing through all this stuff I don't really care that much about Batman: Legacy and I'm not gonna lie to you and say I've read Contagion in it's entirety because I haven't. Just know that Gotham gets hit by a mutated ebola virus and it sucks and is bad for everybody sjdkfbasdkg. Also again cool new Helena outfit top ten epic moments. Before all the No Man's Land stuff there is Birds Of Prey: ManHunt and Nightwing/Huntress. I do not like the latter and have no strong opinion on the former other than it's the start of a long line of Babs treating Helena like shit. ManHunt does have Dinah and Helena interactions though so :) yippeee Almost forgot this but Read Detective Comics #703 its a really cute Helena and Tim story read it right now thank you XOXOOXO I consider Cataclysm and No Man's Land, No Man's Land especially, CRITICAL HELENA READING. HELENA IS SO GOOD IN NML OH MY GOD. Cataclysm is kinda the set up to No Man's Land and also has a cool Helena/Steph teamup in Blunt Trauma. But No Man's Land is where the really juicy stuff is. I'm not really gonna say what specific issues Helena shows up in because you should really read all of or most of No Man's Land as its not only an important Helena story but THE MOST IMPORTANT Gotham story(in modern times anyway). I read the 5 trades but I've heard good things about the Omnibus as well. If you need further help with No Mans Land and how to read it just shoot me an ask or smth. READ NO MAN'S LAND Okay now after NML Huntres Joins the Justice Leauge of America in JLA #16. I have not read all of Helena's JLA stuff so i cant really comment on it I'm a failure sorry... NOW FOR THE RUCKA STUFF GREG RUCKA LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!! So First check out Batman Chronicles #15, it's not all Helena but it does have a Helena story which is her first meeting with The Question so erm go read that !!! Now time for one of my fave huntress stories, Batman/Huntress: Cry For Blood. THIS STORY IS SO FUCKING GOOD. It does retcon Helena's previous backstory which i have mixed opinions on but the new backstory is far from bad and also its just soosososo good i love greg rucka so much go read it right fucking now. Now I have bad news for you gamers. We have the Hush storyline wherein Jim Lee introduced the dreaded Helena Ab Window. Hush is generally pretty good but that outfit is uhhh an outfit!! she starts showing up in Batman #609 Generally speaking I do like this storyline so I would recommend the whole thing. Helena regularly starts appearing as a main character in Birds Of Prey at issue 56. Birds Of Prey IS a mixed bag but most of Helena's appearances from here on are in there so... Be prepared for a healthy dose of sexism though. Outside of BOP check out The Question: Pipelines which is a story in Detective Comics 854-864 written by love of my life Rucka of course. Helena is not in the whole thing but its a good story and her and Renee are a great Duo so I recommend it. While your out it also check out both issues of The Question: Convergence. Also written by Rucka and featuring Helena, its good :). Now I did leave some shit out like Battle for the Cowl but thats because I dont like battle for the cowl and also I don't think Helena is very central in those stories so TA DAA here is my list enjoy anon sorry for any spelling errors Tutorial on how i read comics safely

Do you ever find yourself slightly resentful of how fanon DC has completely overtaken canon DC? I like fanon most of the time but it is so difficult now to find stories that are based in canon. Batman stories are by far the worst offender.
I'm not 100% sure if you're referring to the fact that a lot of recent stories in the comics are pretty ooc or if you mean fic, but based on the last few days of asks, I'm going to assume you're referring to fandom works specifically. And the answer honestly is yes.
I in general have complicated feelings towards fanon. While certain types of fanon can actually create stories that are more complex - for example most of the Spider-Man fandom has pretty much accepted that Peter is Jewish and has depression and anxiety - or even just make for pretty fun concepts - I just love stalker!Tim okay I don't know what to tell you, or purring!Spider-People!! - the vast majority of fanon is mostly really flat characterization or actively damaging. Going back to Spidey, pretty much every bit of MCU!Spidey fanon is fucking awful. And yeah, a lot of Batfam fanon, especially surrounding Jason - is really fucking awful.
I think it's fine for fanon to exist, but the fact that it so often overwhelms the actual canon stories means that sometimes canon gets actually rewritten in people's minds. Like the people who've been in my inbox recently asking me if pit madness is actually a thing - because if you've had minimal contact with canon, how the fuck are you even supposed to know it isn't? It's so rare to come across a fic that doesn't bring it up, even as a sidenote, and when it doesn't, it's not like it's an active mention that pit madness doesn't exist - it's just there. And it's such a damaging piece of fanon, I know I keep bringing it up but it's because I have to, it's really harmful, especially since it's basically NEVER given a trigger warning. But there's also other annoying fanon - Cass as a perfect angel or Steph being reduced to a waffle fan and Tim to a coffee addict and nothing else and erasing Dick's canonical anger issues entirely, which is maybe my favorite character trait of his (although this one can also be blamed partially on Tom Taylor's terribly ooc writing of the character in the current Nightwing run...).
And the thing is yeah, sometimes we read fic purely for the escaping and the fluff, but I know a lot of us are looking for angst and hurt/comfort and fics that take themes (whether from canon or not) seriously, and it's really frustrating how difficult they are to find. I much prefer a fic that takes Dick's trauma seriously than one that relegates him to supportive older brother only. I much prefer a fic that wrestles with Bruce's inability to love Jason the way Jason wants him to and the physical abuse he's inflicted on his children than one where he's perfect and never done anything wrong. Yeah, I don't mind reading stuff for fun where there's never been anything wrong ever in the batfam. But I'm also low-key upset that my second most kudos'd fic ever is the stupid ooc batfam 5+1 I wrote in an hour. I'd much rather people read hang on which verges on character study and has, you know, themes and stuff. Also parallels, which if you've noticed my tags, are like, my favorite thing.
So yeah, I do dislike the fact that fanon has overwhelming taken over so many fandoms, and especially since batman has become my main fandom over the past few months due to brainrot, I'd love if people took these characters seriously, damnit. But this is what happens when a fandom is so majorly comprised of people who outright admit to have never read a comic in their life.

What i wanted to say is that i appreciate and adore all of your discussion and takes of dc
You put things that i wanted to say and thought of clever things regarding the characters and their place in the narrative. Like you even got me to appreciate even damian far more than i thought i would by just even discussing him in relationship to robin. Soo thank you
It made me realize that i dont need to force myself to say that i like certain characters like steph just bc she in batman circles. Ive been tad bit afraid to say it outloud in fear of being call a misogynist or that i dont like her bc she get in the way of my ships(which btw makes ppl like certain characters way less when you impose labels that arent true)
So in all thank you
(Sidenote: is it okay to send you art even if its wip?)
Thank you. It's kind of you to say so. And also just, thank you in general -- I've seen your name pop up in my feed a lot and it always feels nice to know that there's somebody out there who enjoys what I put out. I do a lot of this writing because I genuinely love comics and the Bat-fam in particular and hearing that it helped people appreciate different aspects or feel more comfortable with their opinions means a lot.
And yes, absolutely! I love seeing art in whatever stage you're comfortable sharing.

Okay
Just finished watching Nerdy Prudes Must Die about half an hour before writing this and here are my thoughts for those who want to hear.
Spoilers for all who haven't seen it yet!
I think it's an amazing (fucking transcendant) musical. I think it's a really good Starkid musical; but I don't think it was a great Hatchetfield musical. (Lots of critiques to come but lots of praise as well)
What I noticed is that it follows a similar formula to A Very Potter Musical and Holy Musical B@man, where the humor is the foremost element and the plot is less relevant. It more emulates AVPM in that the plot hooks get better toward the end, but it still didn't feel like as well developed a plot as TGWDLM or Black Friday.
Both the previous musicals seemed to exist on a grander scale - with the Lord's influence seen in large world-ending threats, where here we see a threat that really only exists for the highschoolers (I know Jägerman has the potential to be a worldwide problem but that idea seemed a little shoehorned in to add tension toward the end). PEIP being absent given this is especially apparent and while I don't want the musicals to feel formulaic I do miss my special agents and the big stories in the big medium would fit that nicely.
I was a little disapointed in the minimal Hatchetfield lore that was provided - given the amount they had to work with from Nightmare Time; however it is closer in magnitude to the lore the other musicals provide. (Taking into account that the musical appears to be written for those who haven't seen the Nightmare Times; there are more references than there are additions).
But on the whole it was a really cool musical! I liked it's goofier nature and it did feel like some of the older Starkid musicals but I feel like there were elements of passion in the other Hatchetfield content that were missing here (I know there was Steph and Pete and I love them dearly but I tend to view love stories seperately) that were highly apparent in the other stores (Name: Bill and Alice, Tom and Tim - sidenote I didn't notice their names were like that until right now - Lex and Hannah) and I feel like there were definately places where that could've been explored and wasn't.
The Lords in Black appearence did make me scream and it was so cool to see all of them on stage at once but it did miss the element the other two had of one Lord evoking a threat (giving the This Story Centers Around This Lord And Their Lore vibe) and making that in favour of one goofier song felt off to me, even if they did have Wiggly enact his malice (sidenote; is Grace Chasity technically a Warlock now, given her pact with a dark god?).
All-in-all, it's a good musical and you should definately watch it if you haven't already. I may well just be a Black Friday enjoyer (it's my favourite musical ever) who is nostalgic for the vibe it gave. I'm also probably conditioned to cool lore being a staple from nightmare time. I will be rewatching as many times as I can while I still have the ticket and there's definately room for my mind to change.
Love y'all, have fun going mad about this (it is absolutely insane that we got this in the first place)!!

saw the poll about least liked Batfam but decided to make my own post.
Dick Grayson was the first robin. After learning more about him the less I know why he exists. He’s childish and funny. Probably so Batman wasn’t lonely but couldn’t influence Batman in any way. But then he stopped being that so idk. Batman copycat? But slightly likable but only because his friends make him better.
Jason Todd was hated on for being a kid so he got all these “unlikable” qualities (poverty, drug addiction) and became an unlikable person. He’s alright.
Tim Drake was made to be relatable to a certain audience and it shows. He only perpetuates the Batman industry that should’ve ended years ago.
Damian was created to perpetuate the bloodline to cater to nepotism. But i think they chose Talia so Batman could take him away from her. But it backfired. If we focus on caring about Talia we can expand the conversation about a non white woman again.
Barbara Gordon was created to be a FUCKING love interest. Then to cater to feminists but (mostly) the only the way sexists know how to. But after getting fridged; A wonderful writer made her into an advocate for disabled (handicap). Intersectionality got more supporters to care about her, which is deserved. (Sidenote: Babs reminds me of my very cool competent older sister. So she also unerves me but like in a good way if I wasn’t a younger sib)
Duke Thomas is pretty relatable for a black teen; and he also joined a movement for children taking back their rights (self defense). And introduced the WAR characters which is nice to focus on minority stories again.
Cass is THE asian american diaspora. And her rewritten stereotypes is such a cool way to humanize caricatures AMAZING.
Stephanie Brown was a love interest. Taken down to boost up Tim. Too impulsive to be Robin and left out of stories. Those are the bad stuff. The good stuff is that she’s like Jason ( positive). Stands up against her abusive father. Still sorta close with her mother. Cass’s friend. Okay i lied. There’s one more bad thing about Steph. She’s also like Jason (negative). (And it makes me scared to talk about it because i think there’s some kind of internet thingy about r*df*ms which I don’t agree with because of it’s white superiority centric stuff 😓).
So it’s between Dick, Tim, Steph, and Jason. Downsizing to Tim, Steph and Jason because Dick and the Teen Titans are great. Downsizing to Steph and Jason because Tim came out as bisexual which is ironic but also serves the same reason why Kate was retconned to be lesbian, because it’s a fuck you to the homophobes from the Batman controversies of the past :)
I genuinely believe Steph and Jason could be better, but it’s tough. It’s really tough. I’m downsizing to just Steph because Jason’s relationship with Bizzaro was sweet, and he could have friends like with Rose and Artemis (is she allowed to use that name? Lol) and sorta is already.
Steph isn’t really- i mean, idk. She doesn’t pull in new characters or dynamics, she doesn’t have a narrative relating to Gotham besides her resolved daddy issues which were resolved. The issue could be solved if she joined her own team? Like why is she so lonely bro. She could easily be a good character.
Coming back around to say Dick becoming the new Batman copycat or just whatever self insert writers wanna say, it’s a huge issue. Honestly, the amount of vagueness he is, is annoying. Genuinely goes back to the root core issue, Batman. Dick is barely his own person. All the changes isn’t even because of him anymore. He was taken away from his own backstory just to be for Batman. How dehumanizing is that? He’s just your spokes person supporter cheerleader for whatever you wanna say, and the DC writers sure had a lot of shit to say.
It’s tough. In conclusion, I gotta stop interacting with Batman man. I only joined because of the rouges honestly, but I get it with child rights so of course I’d get to know the batfam, but everything about the batfam fandom has really irritated me. No one here seems to care about children which is ironic
I guess it’s a tie between Dick Tim Jason Steph. Or Dick Tim. They’re boring.

Robin fic snippet
“Just, whoever’s out tonight, don’t come running in.” Extra noise there shouldn’t be, water, and Jason realized she was probably holding the com instead of wearing it. Because why would she be wearing it? Why would she even have the right frequency, if B hadn’t given her one, just in case.   A panic button thrown in a coffee mug, a secure line, and cave clearance that triggered a lockdown.   Asshole didn’t even have the decency to make the same mistake twice, ever.   “You redecorating, Elle?” Dick joked, wary, worried blue gaze finding Jason.   He was too far into the motion of flipping him off to stop, when Elle said, approximately a thousand miles away. “I have to hold a burial.”
The line went dead.   Tim spit out the scrunchie he’d been holding between his teeth, tied off the end of the French braid he’d woven into Steph’s hair, and sighed. “She found the bodies.”   They’d him taught not to freeze. To barely breathe. To control his entire body and kill anything that could be killed and Jason sounded like it, sounded like that person again, made of Talia’s selfish, endless violence, as he ground out, “What bodies.”   Tim looked at Dick, rescue not coming, Robin original too busy wrestling his phone out a clinging yoga pants pocket.   “Tim,” Jason growled, “What fucking bodies?”   It was Bruce who answered.   “Eleanor has been looking for her predecessors.”   Someone had laid the foundations of that house, a witches hearth waiting for Elle to come back, for Elle to be strong enough to belong to this city.   He’d fucking known she was too cagey about it.   “Witches die when they want to die,” Bruce said, calm and detached. Too sure. He knew or thought she was okay, and when hadn’t Bruce’s variable definition of okay failed everyone in this room? “Or in extreme violence. She had to find them, to know.”   “So we’re going to help, right?” Steph was the only one besides Bruce in full uniform, purple cape flinging out as she jumped upright and propped her elbow on Tim’s shoulder. “And I finally get to meet her? Boyfriend?”   Tim shook his head. “Wardens work alone.”   “Fuck that,” Jason spit, “Fuck”-

I've made post similar to this in the past but as a disabled person I'm just so tired of having to have the same arguments over and over again when its comes to Barbara Gordon's character and her disability.
She is a paraplegic who like me and so many other people is an obligate wheelchair user. That is still canon. What is also canon is that the chip that erases her disability is still canon, the upper spinal implant which somehow fixes her spinal cord and also her severely damaged spinal column.
That chip is ableist writing it has been for a decade and I won't budge on that fact.
Having to deal with able bodied Babs and able bodied Dickbabs and Steph fans and Cass fans and Dick fans is exhausting and constantly upsetting.
Able bodied Babs stans never and will never care about Babs disability they see it as a negative to her character and have no problem telling disabled people that. The new thing they love doing is bring up invisible disabilities to hide their dislike of physically disabled. What invisible disability do they think Babs has? They don't care the use the phrase to shut actual disabled people up.
Also at this point I'd like to point out that disabilites are not interchangeable and having Babs who should be using a wheelchair using a cane is not a win for disabled representation all its doing is showing these writers thing disabilities are interchangeable and taking representation away from one part of the disabled community to give it to another is not the progressive move people think it is.
Able bodied DickBabs stans are unbelievably two faced constantly bringing up Babs disability to defend the ship from criticism but turning around and telling disabled people "to cripple themselves" if they want representation so badly when disabled people point out how Infinite Frontier Babs is ableist.
The Steph and Cass fans were probably the biggest shock to me spending a decade saying you wanted Oracle back only to immediately turn on disabled people and tell us we had to support Batgirls cause as long as Steph and Cass were getting to be Batgirl too it didn't matter if Babs disability was being erased. And now the comic is out and its badly written its okay for you guys to complain about it though.
And finally like Dick fans are the ones that piss me off the most. Every month like clockwork you complian about Babs appearing in Nightwing is it a criticism of the author using her as a narrative crutch to move his story no they just don't like Babs character.
Like it is very noticeable to me as a disabled person when these blogs have 30+ posts about how Babs is ruining Nightwing and Dick's character and the only post they have discussing the ableism in Nightwing is an able bodied person jokingly using the word cripple to describe Babs.
Also I don't know how many times I'm going to have to say this to Nightwing fans but you can't constantly talk about bad writing,OOC writing and mischaratersiation for Dick as a character and then without any sense of irony turn around and say Babs has to be help accountable for everything that happens in Nightwing. Maybe Seeley didn't care about Babs as a character and was using her for the plot. Maybe Jurgens didn't care about Babs and was using her for the plot.
Like I hate having to defend new52/rebirth/infinite frontier Babs but I end up having to do that because Nightwing fans will hate her character because the Nightwing writers are so uninspired they don't care if they're writing Babs write or not and people will use it to tear her to shreds.
Sidenote: Seeing the way able bodied Nightwing fans talk about a canonically disabled character I don't trust a single one of them to write Dick's head trauma or memory loss any better than the ableist writing DC put out on it.
Like I as a disabled person shouldn't have to defend an ableist version of a character like do you know how upsetting that is to have do because people won't apply the same rules across the board to how they treat comic character analysis.
Like its baffling how rampant the ableism across these different groups of fans is. I can't even go in to the Oracle tag without being bombarded by able bodied Babs.
Like maybe its time people actually start making an effort when it comes to disabled characters and representation.
