problem i have is that  i really struggle with the tendency to just sort of make characters with the same like three personalities over and over  and also reusing random concepts or design elements in what are supposed to be entirely unrelated things (the latter is kind of normal i guess actually but it compounds the first problem a bit)  so whenever i realize i have two different ideas with unusually similar characters i always have to go like.  Well damn it which one of you gets to live cuz i can’t ever show my face in the world if people know i keep making the exact same thing over and over

I have been thinking a lot about the entire Coop-Barb-Janey subplot, not only from a viewer's perspective but also a writer's perspective and here's some thoughts of what we might expect in S2 and/or S3:

☢️ Similarly to S1, S2 could open with a scene set in 2077 showing Coop separating from Janey. It'd be safe to assume that at one point Barb swooped in and took Janey with her to one of the good vaults.

Henry/Hank, being Barb's assistant, might have been directly involved. It would explain why Coop later thinks he might know where both of them are

Coop probably doesn't know that for a simple reason: contrarily to the experiment vaults, the location of the high management vaults must be top secret and the entrance must be well disguised and well protected

Side note: Barb and Janey are definitely not in vault 31. They are not listed on the terminal that Norm checks in one of the scenes

☢️ I think that throughout the season/s we'll get some flashbacks of Coop and Barb from the moment he found out about the bombs all the way to their divorce

I theorize Barb was the one to file for divorce, and one of the reasons was she feared his association with "commies" would lose her (and by extension her daughter) the spot in a good vault

I saw an affair angle being mentioned. I'd say it's not out of the realm of possibility. Still, if there was a third man, it would not be Hank but some high ranking executive, someone who could grant Barb that spot in a good vault.

If there was an affair and it was mostly calculated, I think there could still have been an element of genuine attraction there. The way in which Barb accuses Coop of being an ingenue, makes me think she'd be inclined to develop an attachment to someone who is the opposite of that, someone who'd make her feel safe and supported

Side note 1: the affair angle would tie nicely with the fact that Coop appears to think of his family as having been taken from him

Side note 2: ghoulcy shippers might find it interesting that the side of Coop's character that Barb seemed to resent, is the one Lucy would probably appreciate the most

☢️ All that said, Coop will most certainly find Barb and Janey at the end of S2 or at least will find out where they are and will only literally find them at the end of S3. @earthgenre made an interesting post exploring what might have happened to them. I personally am convinced they were cryo-frozen and one of the following will turn out to be true:

They were awakened, lived and died a long time ago (or were just never frozen in the first place) and Coop will have to deal with the fact that they are just... gone.

They were awakened some time earlier but by now Barb is dead and Janey is all grown up, perhaps with a husband and child/ren, or alternatively she's already old. It could make for a heartfelt reunion but in the end, the two would have to go their separate ways.

They are both still in their cryopods. Coop gets to see his wife and daughter again and is faced with a choice to either awaken them or let them sleep. It would be a test of character for him. If this one came true, I think he'd either let them sleep or awaken them just for a moment of closure and then let them go back to sleep again in wait for a better tomorrow.

You may have noticed I didn't include any scenario in which they reconcile and walk together into the sunset. This is simply because I don't think it's really an option. I mean, could you imagine Barb, the clean-cut corporate exec, traveling across the wasteland with her ex who now is also a radioactive flesh-eating ghoul? And dragging their little daughter along with them?

On the other hand, Coop wouldn't subject them to that. Yes, he's been looking for them all this time but it would be very silly of him to expect them to reunite and just go live happily ever after. And he's a lot of things but silly is not one of them. I don't think he wants to get them back. He just wants to know what the hell happened to them. Closure is what he wants and what he'll probably eventually get.

As much as I'd love to see Coop get back what he'd lost, I recognize that it wouldn't make much sense, narratively speaking. Cooper's journey appears to be about two things: regaining his lost humanity and letting go of the past. He cannot turn back into a human but he can become a better man (ghoul?) with strong(er) morals. Similarly, he cannot get his family back, not really, not even if he finds them alive, but he can always get himself a companion - someone whom he could cherish and protect, someone whom he could literally live for - and the narrative so far seems to imply that companion is meant to be Lucy. I won't elaborate further on that because there's already a gazillion posts quoting various parallels and foreshadowing elements than seem to be pointing somewhere in that direction.

At the end of it, I just wanna say, there is no way back, but there is always a way forward and that, I think, is the lesson Cooper is supposed to learn.

what i would personally want from another DR game

realistically:

preferably not a Killing Game. this sounds like Blasphemy but DR was never "about" Killing Games. i'll accept it if it happens, but i'll be Very Skeptical. there's plenty to say about that universe and its themes without throwing another new 16 into the mix. leave that to the Fangans, as i think only Fans can produce something that feels fully "new" w/r/t Killing Games now

preferably uses mostly characters we already know with some great additions. a la UDG

could be serious or a spinoff. racing game, RPG, rhythm game, fighting game, game where we use the Kumas like Pokemon...

if a spinoff, would prefer it still has something of a Narrative to it where everyone's somewhat in character, even if it's silly. think Usami forcing Kamukura to participate in Dangan Kart and he does because he's Bored or some dumb shit like that. give me that Stupid Content

just...another game with Kodaka's involvement specifically. this is filed under "realistically" because Kodaka has recently stated he would like to do it, and that after v3, he was on break from Danganronpa, not Done With It 5ever. considering he still does Birthday Posts and constantly answers questions about DR, he is clearly quite attached still, but ultimately by his own admission it's up to Spikechun

as a corollary to the above, would prefer that it is not V3's timeline. and V3 is, in fact, a Separate Timeline/"setting reset" according to Kodaka. it is not a retcon/continuation of previous games. BUT: i think that world would be best explored in novels/manga via the Rantaro series Kodaka wanted to do. BUT: i think if it is explored, it will be in a game

further: would prefer an Everyone Is Here game. it would unite the fandom, from old-time fans to folks who came in mostly thru V3 and stick to it

however, of these personal wish fulfillment settings, i think the most realistic of them is an IF-like timeline, esp if released on the 15th or 20th anniversaries. what better way to Celebrate than with everyone from DR1 being alive

hi, thank you! i'm glad you're enjoying the game :) i've answered the question about romancing multiple characters a couple of times in a couple of different asks but the posts all kind of link back to each other so you should be able to find all the info by. following the various links in each ask i think, starting here XD

i'm going to put the answer to your other question under a cut because some of it is quite emotional for me

i did Sort Of talk about this at the time when it happened, by which i mean that rather than making a post, i talked about it in the tags of an unrelated post i was using to distract myself (i think it was character playlists and how i'm not sure if it's a good idea to do them or not if i recall), but earlier this year while i was already going through a really rough time, my laptop died and i lost a lot of work on the game.

i knew my laptop was old and that this was possibly approaching so i made regular backups and the good news is that because i write in a separate word document and keep backups of those also i didn't actually lose any Writing. however. my twine has a problem in that every second or third game file that i publish from the build is Haunted - it contains passages i removed weeks ago, or writing that i deleted long before publishing it, that kind of weird annoying shit. (other authors have seen my files do this lmfao) and i just have to hope that the backups i make either won't be needed or aren't haunted. anyway... because hope is futile, the last backup i made was indeed haunted, and utterly useless to me as a recovery file. because it's just twine, i still have all the writing, as i mentioned... but i would have to re-code the entire chapter and put it all back together again because of how much the file did not export, which is a complicated and daunting process.

so i made a rambling explanation of this in the tags of a post and decided to take maybe a couple of days off and cool down from this specific disaster before getting into it.

i wake up the next morning to find the IF community absolutely plastered all over with Helpful Informative PSA posts about how Silly it is not to make backups and how if you just make backups you'll never have problems again and you should know better than to not make backups.

now. i'm not a catastrophist. i know for a fact that nobody was making or spreading these posts out of cruelty or a desire to make me feel bad. i also know that it's not particularly realistic to expect people who don't even know me to hunt down the source of a piece of hearsay that's like "i heard from someone that someone said that an author lost a bunch of their files and is really upset about it" to find out what the situation is and whether or not it's what they imagine. i don't even think the vast majority of people knew who it was that was the author involved, or who i am either.

but to already be going through an extremely stressful time and then lose my laptop on top of that and then be obliquely referenced by people i thought of as my peers as kind of just a big silly bumbling goose who didn't know how to manage my files and a "don't be like this person" attitude really, really hurt me. i can't express just how deeply it hurt me. one particular author was openly laughing at me and saying it was my own fault for being too stupid to make backups using a certain twine peripheral program.

so. there was a period of time where i could have found the motivation to just restart the whole chapter myself and re-code it in a frenzy because i wanted to get right back into writing it because. like a lot of authors, i LOVE writing. that's why i do this even when it's difficult. but that potential recovery was sandblasted away by the reactions of people that i thought of as my colleagues in some sense (even though i understand that they didn't do it with bad intentions, in most cases). and i hope people can understand that it greatly lengthened the amount of time i needed to spend away from the game recovering emotionally, despite being a Very Small issue to most people. i'm literally upset again just typing out this answer lmfao

however one other small piece of good news is that my laptop seemingly just lost the ability to turn itself on (because of its age) so i Think the hard drive is intact. meaning that i think i can get someone to pull all the files off it and just have them back fine once i do. the other piece of bad news is that my life is a trainwreck! and i cannot afford that right now. which is why i sort of pivoted to writing the 2000 follower celebration sidegame as a way to enjoy myself while i hurtle through hell sdjgbdfhfdgh

shortly after this thing with the laptop the house i was living in was sold out from underneath me, even though it wasn't supposed to be, and i had to find somewhere to live with my 18 year old cat, but the city i lived in had zero places that would allow cats (they're totally fine with Dogs though of course) so i had to move to an entirely new city on my own while worrying about her health. and right now i spend every fortnight desperately trying to scrape together enough to survive the next fortnight. there were entire months where i had no access to internet! it's been pretty Bad!!

so i get that people really want updates, and i'm really flattered that people do and it makes me happy that people like the game so much. but i am currently expending so much time and energy trying not to die lmfao, and i need to save up the money to get my files back around that. i truly cannot tell you when the next update will be, but i promise you that it Haunts me, probably more than you can imagine XD the sidegame will Definitely come out before it though, if that's something you're looking forward to.

CHICON 2008 Request (and a tiny sample!)

This is a shot in the dark, but I thought I’d ask. Does anyone have a video of any quality, good or bad, that covers the below portions of the CHICON 2008 panels? I have videos for the vast majority of it, but there are a few small gaps annoying me and I'd love to fill them in. If you have something you’d be willing to let me use in my next set of enhanced con videos, please let me know. I would of course give you credit if I use them! Or anonymity if that's what you prefer. Even an audio file could be useful.

If you don't have anything but you're willing to reblog to increase visibility, that would be awesome too. I haven't had any success the few times I've tried to directly contact fans who were posting content back in these early days, so I don't think many are still out there, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

Gap #1: The beginning of Jared’s solo panel, before he starts telling the story about his dogs sleeping with Jensen. I managed to find a very low-quality 30-second video near the beginning where he talks about the fan video that played, but it cuts off. The better-quality videos start just before Jared tells the dog story.

Gap #2: After the J2 panel, immediately after Jared finishes signing the posters and leaves the stage. The videos show Jensen clapping for Jared as he exits, but they cut off mid-clap. The next video picks up post-clap with Jensen saying, “Maybe we should wait ‘til he’s out of the room.” I think there are only a few seconds missing, not really enough to be annoyed by, but... 🤷‍♀️

Gap #3: At the very end of Jensen’s solo panel, as he’s getting ready to leave, he thanks the fans and talks about how many more viewers they've had that season. The last video cuts off before he finishes talking.

Other than that, I have a complete span of content for all three of their panels. It adds up to about 1.5 hours that will be split into 3 videos. I think the gaps are all short. I read through some fan reports and I didn’t see anything mentioned that wasn’t covered in the videos I have, so we're probably not missing anything big.

I'm only just starting the editing process on this set. so it will be a while before I have a new video to release. In case you missed it, I did publish the CHICON 2008 breakfast video earlier this week. Meanwhile, I’ll leave you with this tiny sample of one of the things I’ve wanted to do so many times while watching con videos.

I always go slightly bonkers when Jared and Jensen go off in separate directions on stage, because the camera can’t possibly follow both of them. I usually end up pulling up all the videos and trying to find one that follows each of them so I can flip back and forth between them. 🤣 Now I have the power to take two separate videos and show them simultaneously. This silly thing makes me very happy.

Context: this was at the end of the J2 panel. Jensen made a show of removing Jared's chair, and then Jared took Jensen's chair and replaced it with a smaller chair. It will be more coherent when you see the full video; I mainly wanted to highlight the split screen parts for this post.

I absolutely adore reading your thoughts on txf, would you mind talking a little bit about the early s2 MSR dynamic? Because, for me, along with the s6 ship teasing it’s easily the most romantic period in the whole show. The flirting, the ✨ yearning ✨, the teasing. You know when it’s so obvious that two people have fallen for each other, and it’s only a matter of time before they start acting on those feelings? That’s the vibe that early s2 gives me.

i love season 6 & season 2 so much. they both have their own brand of angst & longing and they're so special.

mulder and scully are really best friends by the end of season 1. it takes so long for them to describe each other as "friend" — they're partners, but they both know they are important to each other.

little green men is especially my favorite here, like. the way they kick off the season and reintroduce us to mulder & scully is kind of brilliant. because they're not partners right now, they're assigned separately and it's so hard for them. mulder is always kind of monotone, but dd somehow still injects so much into. (like his facial expressions.) and there's something about this opening voiceover that feels very different from his others, to me.

we see mulder bored out of his mind, despondent. the x files were his entire life. they're all he cares about (because of samantha), and now scully too.

the first scene with scully kind of crushes me. i think i've posted about it before but !!!

scully has always felt a connection to the dead. she tells their stories, seeks justice for them. she's so aware that they are people. they lived and loved and dreamed and cried and feared. it only became more acute as she worked with mulder.

she's returned to teaching and here, she's overcome with those thoughts. she feels she has to pass this on to her students. they need to understand that every case is about people. they need to hold on to the human aspect, rather than letting it harden & disconnect them.

and then one of her students uses the word "spooky" about her. the first time she heard "mrs. spooky" she was kind of shaken. she had seen other agents be rough with mulder, she knew it wasn't the most friendly moniker. (i like to think in the pilot, she thought "spooky" was kind of silly. like he was a brilliant profiler, it's a kind of science. he's a good agent. that isn't spooky. it's hard work.) but in squeeze, she saw up close the mockery of it. the assumptions people made, but she worked with him. he's on the victim's side and that's where she wants to be. i fully believe part of her is trying to impart this on her students.

then. when he doesn't see her in the hall at work, walks right past her with no recognition...she decides to do something. they're friends, he's still her partner.

she's relieved when he makes a joke. (i love them)

she told him he looked like deep throat when he was approaching her in the dark...like toe testing his state of mind.

scully has some understanding that they are being watched: she had to write reports specifically on the validity of the x files & mulder's investigations, she found the bug in the pen in e.b.e., they took precautions with false trails and they have a signal to meet covertly. she took the precautions, she's been extra cognizant of her surroundings. all this because she just wants to make sure her friend is okay, and he's busy worrying about putting her in danger.

she is so worried about him. she doesn't want mulder to give up and it seems like he has, but he ends up confiding in her that he's struggling to believe & hope, worrying that he's crazy.

i love the way she responds. she reminds him of what's kept him going, that he has seen so much. scully doesn't believe his memories, or in aliens, but she believes in mulder. in his compassion, in his determination, in his cause, in his ability to keep searching.

i think this is the first time we see him doubt his memories, his course. and scully, even with her skeptic role, has a role to fill. when he can't find hope, she tries to guide him to it. she knows how important it is.

"even if george hale only saw elves in his mind, the telescope still got built. don't give up." this line reminds me of the end of quagmire: "well there's still hope. that's why these stories have endured. people want to believe."

scully loves mulder's belief, or determination to believe, so much. it is a precious part of him she wants to protect. hope & belief are powerful things, and they're both so hard to hold onto. the way they help each other is beautiful. i've always found this aspect of their relationship incredibly romantic. not necessarily in a traditional sense but it's all so personal. the intimacy with which they share sacred parts of themselves, in a way they haven't shared it with others. i don't know if i've posted this, but i think there's an inherent romance when you're getting to know someone. in that phase, you don't really know where it's going, and wherever it does go (a friendship or romantic relationship) doesn't really matter. that's what was happening in season one, and their work made them forge a bond built on respect and fused them together. in season two, they now have so many shared experiences.

season one is all about scully following mulder. season two is more like mulder following scully. not as literally as scully follows him, but she tells him "next time we meet out in the open" and it's decided. he listens to her. (and later, he invites her on all of his cases. until he's abducted. and he almost follows her to the grave before she's truly gone. it becomes about protecting her, and trying to do that while respecting her, following her lead on coming back to work, what she can handle, what she needs to do like irresistible, and supporting her. it's different but also not so different to how she follows him, protects him, supports him.)

they're separated because of the fbi, not because she left him. she didn't abandon him. but mulder wasn't going to keep dragging her down. here, scully makes the choice and that's something he has never experienced before. mulder isn't used to this, and he doesn't understand, but it's something he craves his entire life without really knowing what he was craving. it's real love & respect & belief & care. he has to follow her too. he has to let her in. he can't lose her.

literally the way he was avoiding her, protecting scully from himself & the conspiracy. but that doesn't matter to her. mulder is what matters to her, their relationship. they need each other and they love each other and they are best friends, voiced or not.

immediately after this meeting, mulder disappears. skinner questions scully about his whereabouts, only tells skinner about seeing mulder in the hallway, nothing about the clandestine meeting.

i *love* this. skinner knows scully wouldn't be worried if she knew. she immediately offered to help in a professional capacity, but these two have never fooled anyone. no one knows the nature of their relationship, and they can't because mulder & scully refuse to give it any name for so long.

csm knows scully will find mulder, but he still doesn't understand what a force scully is. he claims to never underestimate mulder, but he definitely underestimated scully.

she starts looking into it herself, regardless of skinner asking her for help or not. she figures out his password, takes the evidence right out from under other agents.

meanwhile, their meeting reinvigorated mulder. he's searching for the truth of those transmissions. he is recording himself, talking to scully directly, down in puerto rico.

he's describing jorge's body to scully, giving observations he's heard her give a hundred times.

(something here about how he looks *frightened* to death and scully proliferating about the person's memories & life before they end up dead on their autopsy table)

and scully, she's working on getting to him. she knows she's being followed and leaves false trails for the agents trying to track him down. just like they did in e.b.e. and i just don't even have words for that. she's learned so much from him. before, scully was confident she wasn't being followed. but the second skinner came to her about him, she kept up with every precaution and more.

when she catches up to him. you know the scene.

mulder: they came, scully. the ones that took her. they were here

scully: here, or here?

they're PRECIOUS. scully was so worried about him, finds him unconscious on the floor, terrified he was dead. touching him to reassure herself, doctoring him for the feeling of safety it gives her. but her mulder is back and she's relieved — even as they have to flee.

the way he so slowly, carefully, intentionally says "i still have my work...and i've still got you...and i still have myself." mulder understands exactly what scully was telling him. partners or not, she is with him, always. it's hard for him to accept, but he needs her. she saved him in so many ways just in this episode alone.

there was so much yearning in this brief separation and scully bridged the gap. she didn't let it end just because the bureau split them up. and who is mulder to refuse her?

She manages to hold off on calling him until Sam does something stupid enough to warrant a call. Still, even with her reason in place, she realizes how ridiculous she must look as James finally answers, his brows knitting together as his eyes squint in recognition.

She tenses, sure that he's about to ask her why she won't leave him alone.

Instead, James's eyes soften. He laughs. "Alright, what information is missing from Sam's file this time?"

"Nothing," La'an answers, relaxing a little. "I'm calling because Sam—"

"Oh God, is he alright?"

Genuine worry hardens his gaze and La'an winces. "He's fine. Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. I just..."

She trails off, realizing that James is studying her. She wets her lips, shaking her head. "Well, now I realize it's—it's silly that I've called you. He just did something kind of dumb today, and—"

James throws his head back, a bark of a laugh so sudden that it jolts La'an. "Sam doing something stupid is absolutely a good reason to call," James says, leaning closer to the screen. "Tell me more."

"He's going to kill me," she starts, and James grins, wide and toothy, and suddenly...

Suddenly it's him again. It's like that day with the hot dogs, when he was just trying to make her laugh. She swallows thickly and tries to match the radiance of his smile.

"He split his pants in front of the entire bridge crew."

James gasps. "He didn't!"

"He did!" La'an answers, a thrill rushing through her at how James is gawking at her now. "He dropped his PADD on the ground right in front of Captain Pike. Bent over to pick it up and BAM! The Captain got a front row seat."

James raises a hand to cover his mouth, but his eyes sparkle with amusement, and she knows he's struggling to hide his mirth.

"Oh my god. What did his face look like after? Did it go red? It goes red when he's embarrassed, even his neck gets flushed."

"Red as a beet," La'an replies, unable to keep herself from chuckling.

On his end, she faintly hears, "Kirk to bridge," and James gives her a sorry look.

"Shoot. I really have to get going."

"It's fine," La'an answers. She smiles. "You got the good part of the story, anyway."

He laughs, then straightens, sobering up. "Ma'am, I owe you one for the dirt you've given me on my brother. I can't make any promises, but if our paths ever cross..."

She has no way of knowing if they will ever actually see one another. They are galaxies apart, and time and past separates her from the James that she really longs for, but despite everything, she can't help but hope.

"How about you treat me dinner sometime. You eat hot dogs, Mister Kirk?"

James gives her that toothy grin, and La'an thinks she could spend a lifetime chasing after the man behind that smile.

"It's like you just read my mind."

Even more stupid silly rouges headcanons

- Joker loves home renovation shows! He has kidnapped several famous home renovation show people to decorate his lair, and yes they do air the episode

- every once in a while, the rogues do tournament of champions style games against each other. It's all sorts of games! Some of their more intense ones have been tag, hide and seek, and capture the flag. Capture the flag ended in an armed stand off.

- Their ultimate game of games is an end of the year heist! The villains all get together and submit a suggestion for the heist target, and random drawing picks the theme. It's been a few different coveted objects from Gotham like fancy jewels, encrypted data files off GCPD computers, an entire art gallery, or it's also been silly stuff like movie props or a shipment of rare beanie babies. One year the target was Bruce Wayne and the whole night it was villains just kidnapping Bruce like princess peach. Low key, Bruce had fun (since he was literally in no danger) and he got to skip a really boring party! This later becomes a separate game/event they do too, it’s called “kidnap bruce wayne day”

- during a party once, Riddler and Scarecrow got so drunk they got dumb tattoos. Scarecrow has so many regrets but Riddler still thinks his is kinda cool

- Joker and Killer croc are unironic besties. Everyone thought he was befriending for a goof or a scheme (and he sorta was at first), but croc is kind of his ride or die. Joker made the two of them friendship bracelets and will stab people who make fun of croc

- Ivy is secretly into Disney kid pop punk and it's her biggest shame. She used to be a hardcore Hannah Montana kid. Only Harley knows and she loves to binge Disney shows with her. Harley’s ringtone for Ivy is the best of both worlds song

- all of the villains have guest starred/hijacked on several game shows. Riddler often shows up on Jeopardy, Joker hosted an episode of match game with all the rogues as the celebrities, and for some reason Bane was on press your luck (he actually auditioned and was approved)

- Harvey needs to drink more water and is bad about keeping up the habit, so all the rogues all subconsciously try to make sure he drinks enough water daily. Harley gets him a water bottle that shows how much you should drink per day, Penguin won't let anyone serve him alcohol @ the iceberg lounge unless he drinks one whole glass of water first in front of them, and a giant box of expensive bottled water is sent to him from “the man of puzzles” at least once a month

- Penguin has a self care blog where he posts about his emotional journey and no, he does not accept critiques of his blog format.

- Bane likes to color a kids menu while he waits at restaurants, tbh he likes to color in general because it's fun. The rogues get him coloring books

- Scarecrow and Riddler are friends even though neither will admit it. It was cemented when, by accident, Riddler tagged along on an unplanned Jonathan's hometown he didn’t want to even go on. It was a mess but high key made them best friends. They have one of those moments where they're sitting on a bench together and it's incredibly uncomfortable and riddler is like "so, you wanna talk about all your messy childhood bullshit or do you wanna go get waffles?" And Scarecrow is silent for a while, face in his hands before he replies, "of course I fucking want waffles." And they get to have so many waffles.

- Joker loves to be carried around, he will often just make goons drag him around when he's bored or feels like it. Sometimes he'll just start falling backwards or running at someone to catch him, because they just will. If they miss, he'll be a drama queen about it

- When Ivy needs Harley's attention, she shakes a container of mini m&ms

- When they have meetings Joker has a favorite seat. He will not yield for any other seat, ever.

- Harley and Joker play those rhythm clapping games like concentration when they're bored/waiting on stuff. They have the friendship of two 8th grade girls tbh

- It’s on Twoface’s bucket list to meet keith morrison from dateline, the rogues get him to come to a surprise birthday party one year and he squeals like a teenage girl

- Scarecrow secretly has a faint southern accent from his early early youth but he hides it really well. If he's tired or drunk enough, it slips out. The rogues love to ask him to say "cowboy stuff", and sometimes he'll indulge them

- Clayface sometimes like to just spend a long time living in a persona for fun, not crime related at all. Sometimes he spends months as an eccentric burger king employee who is two months away from graduating with an online degree to phoenix online university. He’s making a documentary about his experiences

- Riddler got Scarecrow a day planner as a joke/to make fun of his poor planning skills, but jokes on Eddie because he actually uses it!

and also the separate game where you post an excerpt from one of your wips, so this is from 'Baby!Tim meets Dick again (and again)'

for context, Tim is 6 and Dick is 13 in this, and a few months before this scene, they 'met' again for the second time and had a memorable conversation. So this is technically their third coincidental meeting, at a museum that Tim is visiting with his parents.

“N-no, I’m fine,” Tim stammered, scrubbing at his face hastily. He couldn’t let Dick Grayson see him crying about something so silly! “I just, um. I lost my Mommy and Dad.” “You - what?” Dick Grayson said, and his voice was so strange that Tim risked a glance up at him. The taut, pale concern on the older boy’s face made Tim freeze up in instant horror. Oh no oh no oh no, so stupid! “I MEAN,” Tim shrilled, clawing his fingers into his cargo shorts in distress, “I dunno know where they went! That’s all! They’re fine! I think.” They just forgot me. I sat down, I told them ‘I need to sit down’, and they kept walking. They left me behind. Despite himself, he could feel his face reddening, tears starting to well back up. He looked down and wiped at his eyes again, sniffling as quiet as he could manage. “Oh!” he heard Dick say, sounding both relieved and sheepish. “You lost them - of course.” Dick kept talking, bright and determined, something about calling the front desk. Or going to the front desk? But his voice faded out somehow in Tim’s exhaustion. Tim pulled his knees up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them and ducking down to hide his dumb leaky face. He was so tired he would rather die than move, even for Dick Grayson. And you were supposed to stay put when you were lost, right? That was good, because he ached to just lie down right here on the dirty floor and take a nap. But even more than that, he wanted to not be crying in front of Dick Grayson about having perfectly alive parents who just weren’t here right now, the moment he wanted them, like some sort of needy baby. He wanted to have not upset Dick Grayson by reminding him of the most horrible day of his life - for the second time - like some sort of - of - bad memory charm – “M’sorry, Dick,” he mumbled, rubbing his forehead too-hard against his knee. The pressure was somehow grounding against the awful tumbling knot in his chest. In his stomach? Somewhere unpleasant. Dick paused, mid-sentence. “Huh? For getting lost? Oh buddy, it happens to the best of us, believe you me.” Tim shrugged, an awkward roll of his shoulders while still curled up. “Ummmm. No? For um. For saying it like that. I know what it made you think.” “Oh. Oh, hey, hey…” Gentle fingers touched his hair, and Tim went still as a mouse. “No. You don’t have anything to be sorry for, Timmy. I’m the dummy who… Nevermind.” Dick laughed quietly. It was somehow just as good a laugh as the bright, bouncing one he’d given at the circus, before everything, even if it was a little sad. His fingers carded quick and light through Tim’s neatly combed hair - once, twice - enough to mess it up thoroughly before dropping down to settle on his back. “Don’t worry, Timmy. I’ll help you find your Mom and Dad. It’ll be okay, I promise.” His voice was so warm and steady; so was his hand on Tim’s back. And the horrible seething tangle in Tim’s stomach loosened, just like magic.

got sent this album by a moot and it's honestly one of the most fucking interesting things i've ever heard, it has this kind of silly but nicely off putting sound with the first half being this mish mash of some really odd (and enjoyable) songs that all kinda join up together with some really nice transitions and the second one having longer more ""conventional"" (for this album at least) separate songs, my favorite of which being the one i linked

some seriously good shit i'd recommend anyone reading to give it a listen even if it's not your cup of tea (it definitely is mine)

discovering this kinda stuff is one of the reasons i use tumblr in the first place

on the replies to one of my previous posts i was told this was one of SWANS' peaks and i can't say i disagree, this album is so FUCKING good every single song on it is brimming with atmosphere and there are so many highlights it's hard to choose just one, considering this album came right after Holy Money (the next album on this list, since i listened to both) it's insane how different this album sounds to their earlier stuff, but it's seriously great. haunting album and extensively memorable, definitely one of my favorite SWANS albums.

on the other side of the coin though...

...was probably my least favorite SWANS record! (or maybe Cop)

Mind you, Greed is actually one of my favorites, and i love the way it sounds and how fucking brutal some of the songs on it are, but there's something about Holy Money that really just didn't catch me as much, and i felt the new versions of Greed songs (Fool and Money is Flesh) just really weren't that interesting, and Fool especially kind of diminished the spaciousness i loved so much about the original version.

It's still a very good album (it's SWANS, come on) but it definitely felt like a bit of an afterthought, like leftovers from the previous album that should have just been in it. The live versions of these songs go hard as fuck though listen to PUBLIC CASTRATION IS A GOOD IDEA (yeah) if you want to hear them in their fullest potential. brutal stuff.

I fucking love Shellac's debut (At ACTION PARK), but never explored much of their work aside from it until i saw this album in a moot's top albums list, and got to thinking damn maybe i should listen to more of their stuff, and boy am i glad i did.

It was very very weird hearing Steve Albini sing after being used to Big Black and the first Shellac album, but i think he did a really solid job and i found myself enjoying his vocals a lot throughout the album

the songs were all really mean and noisy and immaculately produced like any proper Steve Albini project (them god damn drums!!!) and i've been compelled to give it a listen every time i scroll past it on my files. good shit. give it a listen

many thoughts! number one being that if you don't know it, get someone who's above average fluent to help you if you feel like the language is needed in the story! and if the language is fake (like using kryptonian) then make the inclusion of it make sense! other thoughts are for my thinking only 💕 (and my unfortunate friends who have to listen to me lecture)

LMAO my names do be silly idk how to name my stuff beforehand and this is what comes out

"grrr aaah pain" is the second chapter of "mute bumblebee" fic that i felt could be interesting

currently it's really raw and literally just so so many ideas, at least two timelines written, but i can't tell if i will eventually update it or post separately or it will never see the light of day. if i'll settle on one version i'll see what fits, for now it's a huge mystery

“Alright Connie-girl. Get your shoes on you two.” Kate threw a pair of shoes each at Reynie and Sticky, more gently than they were capable of to be sure, but still with more force than was ideal. Reynie and Sticky shared another look; Reynie was pretty sure this was going to be a running theme tonight. Before Reynie had time to pull on his shoes (Sticky had been thrown a pair of sandals which he had quickly slipped on), Kate was halfway out the door, spinning their car keys around on a finger. Constance was on their heels and once again Reynie was left wondering what Kate had in mind if Constance was this on board. Reynie and Sticky trailed behind the other two; the ground outside was still slightly damp from a recent rain and Reynie hopped awkwardly, trying to get his shoes on while avoiding getting his socks wet. Kate had the car started by the time Reynie slipped into the front passenger seat and buckled the seatbelt – with Kate driving it was always best to do that first.
