An idea on how Alfonso and Ryan can be in sing 3

I know how Alfonso and Ryan can fit in the third movie(it's what I also want to happen). I'll start with Alfonso, I think his arc would be that be Meena needs a (new)singing partner (because Darius is probably doing movies away from the crew) and Alfonso is nervous not just about singing with Meena, but singing in general. Meena then helps Alfonso overcome his fears like she had and they sing a duet together. And for Ryan, his story arc could be that he can't sing, (unlike Alfonso who can but is shy) like he doesn't know how and Johnny is Ryan's partner(from buster not Klaus) and they have to sing and dance a duet, so Johnny decides to help him sing, and he sings the song stay with me(by Sam Smith)to help him with vocals and he sing so well that ryan tells him to teach him a different song because he could never do it like him(when in reality he is in love with Johnny and his singing that he wants him to sing another, maybe they won't get together in the movie but it's a start, even though they might not be together but I hope anyone consider my idea) and after a while they sing the duet. And of course marcus/big daddy would be there to support and protect them(and where is nooshy? She is helping and also gets a part and Ryan helps to) I'm still work shopping it, what do you think?

I am meant to be in bed rn because I have work tomorrow and have been at work all day today and am going to regret being awake but I could not get this out of my head. After reading and re-reading the amazing analysis by @lemonisntreal I’ve decided my new mini project is getting a canon height for all the Sing 1 & 2 characters. Going off Lemon’s post, I set the guy’s height for an average 5′10″. Supposing he is of average height and not extra tall or small, I then adjusted the picture of him so that it fit the 5′10″ scale. Then I lined up the Sing characters who appear with him, adjusting their positions so that their feet are equal with his and everyone is starting off from 0, as perspective can make characters look taller or shorter depending on where they stand relative to him. They are already scaled to the same size as him. Then measuring their height from their feet up to the heads - not counting things like Miss Crawly’s hat or Ash’s quills. I did two measurements for Johnny because it’s a bit more unclear where his hair ends and head begins. This is still not perfect as the chart leaves me interpreting the numbers a little, but as best as I can read:

Ash is slightly below halfway between 2′5″ and 2′11″ (the difference is 6 inches, half of 6 is 3, so just under half would be +2 inches from the minimum). So I put her at 2 feet 7 inches.

Miss Crawly is slightly below halfway between 2′11″ and 3′5″. So I put her at 3 feet 1 inch. However she is hunched over most of the time so she probably appears shorter.

Gunter is just over halfway between 3′11″ and 4′5″ (the difference is again 6 inches, half is 3, so just over half would be +4 inches from the minimum). So I put him at 4 feet 3 inches.

Buster is just over halfway between 1′11″ and 2′5″. So I put him at 2 feet 3 inches.

Johnny, up to the top of his hair, is 5′5″ almost exactly. Maybe like 5′4.9″ if you want to be precise. Up to his brow ridge, he’s just under 4′11″. So I put Johnny between 5 feet 5 inches and 4 feet 10 inches, depending on how much of his head is just tuft.

@lemonisntreal you eyeballed it pretty damn accurately!! Also full credit for this post goes to Lemon because this is just piggybacking off their brilliant idea, they thought of it first!!

Oh and I absolutely WILL be doing all the named characters. It’s going to be a long process making sure the characters are scaled correctly but I‘ll do it tomorrow and just add to this post.

I didn't want to have to make this post, I've seen enough shipping drama on Tumblr over the years that I usually steer clear of it, but there’s been so much Nooshy bashing in the tags lately that I feel compelled to weigh in on it.

Why do people like Nooshy? Well, to put it simply, even though she’s never the center of attention in "Sing 2", Nooshy manages to be a girl with layers, and there's a lot to appreciate about her. When we're first introduced to her, she's a street performer so she can make the money that she needs to survive, but she’s also genuinely passionate about her craft - she loves to dance - and she enjoys getting a chance to share that passion with someone else whenever they come along.

While she can be snarky and prickly and slow to trust strangers, she’s also very nice once you get to know her. After a young turtle kid almost screws up her performance, she's still very playful and accommodating towards him. When she’s brought backstage to the Crystal theater, she compliments some dude's hat just to make him feel good about himself. While she initially agrees to help Johnny because he offers to pay her, she starts to stick up for him and genuinely support him, because the way Klaus treats him isn't right. She decides to help the Moon Theater troupe put on their big show, even though she's only known these people for about a week and their plan will surely be very dangerous, because the way Jimmy Crystal treats them isn't right either and she wants to help them stick it to the man. After Johnny tells her that he and his family used to be a gang of notorious criminals, Nooshy never judges them for their shady past, and is actually quite happy to see how close he and his father are now (especially since it's implied that she might not even have parents herself). And during "A Sky Full Of Stars", she encourages Johnny to never give up and follow his heart, because he's her friend and she wants to see him succeed.

Nooshy is snarky and mischievous, but underneath it all, she's actually a very kind girl, and very loyal towards the people who earn her respect. And by the end of "Sing 2", she gets her happy ending when she not only gets a new paying career doing what she loves, but also finds a place where she belongs among the Moon Theater troupe.

The reason why I just went off on that rather long tangent, dissecting her character, is to drive home the point that Nooshy has done nothing in the canon films to warrant the way people talk about her sometimes.

I've seen people insult everything about her and her fans for shipping reasons, because they see her as a threat to their preferred ships (even though she and Johnny are not even canonically a couple by the end of "Sing 2"). And there's a real double standard when it comes to this too, because no other character who's been shipped with Johnny over the years gets this kind of treatment. Meena doesn't, Ash doesn't, Ryan doesn't (even though the claim that Nooshy haters sometimes make - that people only like her as one half of a ship - could just as easily be said about him).

And this is really nothing new. Characters getting trash-talked over shipping wars is a tale as old as time when it comes to fandoms, and people are entitled to their opinions. The reason why I made this post is because lately, the Nooshy bashing is starting to cross a line.

Over the last few months, I've been seeing a growing number of comments complaining about people including Nooshy in their fanart. I've also been seeing a growing number of posts outright insulting people who like Nooshy or like to ship her with Johnny, saying that they're stupid and shallow and should just go away because they’re a blight on the fandom.

How about no.

In a fandom, people are allowed to like whatever character they like, or ship whatever couple they like, so long as they're not hurting anyone. If you hate Nooshy so much that you can't stand seeing any fanart of her or fanfics of her, because you don't want to be reminded that she exists, then I'm sorry but you're either just going to have to deal with that or stop engaging with the parts of the fandom where people want to appreciate her. Because quite frankly, your hatred for this character is no one else’s problem except your own and people are not going to stop liking her just for your benefit.

-he doesn't want a pet but if you get him a pet he will treat the pet like his own baby.

-when he was younger he learned how to hoop dance. He doesn't know how to dance now which is honestly very disappointing. (Same but with another dance😭)

Yes, of course!! I'm physically incapable of shutting up about this, so you giving me an excuse to talk about it is wonderful. I'm going to take this in a slightly different direction and talk about all the Munson Family Lore (TM) that I couldn't necessarily fit into the first chapter of the big ass Eddie backstory, but it is all canon in my brain and my little universe.

(I promise I'm working on getting chapter 2 up!)

Anyway, in no particular order, have some of My Thoughts (started out as family lore and devolved into Steddie. I'm all over the place, it seems!):

Both of Eddie's parents are originally from West Virginia.

They had Eddie at 16 and dropped out of high school.

They had a quick courthouse wedding when they were 17. Wayne was one of the witnesses, and Eddie's mom's sister was the other one. They jokingly asked the judge if Eddie, six months old and dressed in a tiny suit-patterned onesie, could be one of the witnesses when Wayne was running late.

Eddie's dad's side of the family is Baptist, and his mom's side is Jewish. Neither one of them are particularly observant, so Eddie grows up with holidays as more cultural/family traditions, rather than religious ones.

His mom's family did not approve of the marriage. They thought his dad was up to no good. His mom doesn't really talk to her family after that.

There is a Reason(TM) why Wayne and Eddie's dad don't talk. Yes, it's a spoiler.

Wayne is about ten years older than Eddie's dad. He enlisted in the Army as soon as he turned 18 and was shipped off to Korea. When he came back, years after he got plopped back in the States, because he had to piece himself back together, he sees that his little brother dropped out of high school and has a wife (not legally, not yet) and a baby on the way.

Wayne and Eddie's dad's father was a coal miner. He also just sucked as a person, and he died when Wayne was around 17, so he didn't feel as guilty for leaving.

Wayne was a truck driver for years before he settled in Hawkins. He starts off doing construction there before he starts working at the plant.

Both of Eddie's parents are addicts. They tried their best, but they absolutely were not equipped to handle a kid.

All hail Dolly Parton. That's it, that's the thought. Eddie's parents (and Wayne) love Dolly. And a bunch of other old school country artists, like Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. They just sort of get it.

Eddie's got an accent, but from state-hopping so much as a kid, it sounds more pan-Appalachian than anything else. His parents keep their vernacular from West Virginia, but they'll change it up for wherever they're staying. Anything to not draw attention to the fact that they're new in town, anything to keep a low profile.

Eddie likes reading Twain books. They're not written in his dialect, but he thinks it's cool that they're written in dialect at all. They're really fun to read out loud.

Eddie can't, for the life of him, say "tobacco." And I wrote a fic about it.

Eddie's mom called him all sorts of pet names growing up, but the one she used most often was "sugar." Eddie's dad was the only person who called him "Ed."

Neither one of Eddie's parents could carry a tune in a bucket, but that never stopped them from singing to him growing up. Wayne can't sing, either, but he doesn't try.

Steve thinks Eddie's accent is cool and also hot.

Eddie thinks it's a little bit funny when Steve can't understand conversations between him and Wayne. They talk so fast and the vowels and vocab are different and he is lost. Eddie will fill him in after, though.

Eddie's accent automatically kicks in when he sings lullabies.

Eddie's dad's name is John, and his mom's name is Rebecca.

"Edward" was the only first name the two of them could agree on, though they never call Eddie that, and his middle name is his father's name.

That's all I have off the top of my head! Everything else is kind of a spoiler, so I'm avoiding talking about it, at least until I get more chapters of the big ass Eddie backstory out. Thank you so much for asking, this was so much fun for me!!

Four Reasons I Don't Support Suki x Marcus

There is another Sing ship involving the Saluki which I can't stop thinking about or continuing to be tortured by: shipping her with Johnny's dad!

These words cannot escape my mind from the video of Illumination taking risks: "The company is 'going to have to evolve. We can have a commitment strategy to movies as a cinema-going experience and we can layer other business on top of that. There are topics of conversation right now that are very relevant to what we're doing in the future that get into areas that potentially might not please everyone. I think you have to honor the stories that you tell, honor the choices that your filmmakers make, and you have to be willing to not have everybody pleased all the time."

And since high-grossing franchises are constantly milked, that means they'll need new stories and new material, including ones that fans aren't doing yet. Plus, as Illumination insists on animal behavior, it makes sense for a gentle giant like a gorilla to be protective towards a Saluki, one of the most timid dog breeds of all, so that's one "open-minded/I'm not a judgy bastard who should be sentenced to damnation" perspective, and yet, I can't stand the idea of them being romantic partners any more than her and Jimmy being romantic partners.

Here are the four reasons:

1. They've too big an age gap

Okay, Suki is either in her 20's or early 30's, and Marcus...well, most of the characters' ages here aren't clear, but I assume he's in his mid-40's or 50's. And I realize that Sing lacks pairings with the man being two-three decades older than the woman and "HAS TO BE relevant to real life in all ways", but do they really need that? And yes, Johnny could have a stepmom in his life, but does it have to be a woman close to HIS age?

2. They lack the chemistry

Seriously, who thinks Chelsea Peretti and Peter Serafinowicz would have any chemistry?

3. It spells old-fashioned stereotype

I know strong men would be a good shoulder for tough women to be there as a shoulder and make them feel stronger and make them feel more human, but does it have to imply the strong man is as strong as one of those weight-lifters at the circus? Skinny guys can be strong in some way too. And a lot of women today aren't interested in beefcakes, which brings me to this reason:

4. It destroys her better judgement

In her first few minutes of the film, she comes off as this pretty-dresser who comes from the squeaky clean big city and is hard to please (FOR ENTERTAINMENT, btw!) and because she's a lackey for someone muscular and well-dressed (Jimmy) and is loyal throughout the film, due to dogs being loyal, until she betrays him, everyone just automatically assumes she only likes high-quality individuals as much as high-quality shows. Shows and individuals are two different things. Why throw it away other than just to make Ash, Meena, Rosita, Nooshy, and Porsha the girls you want to like that aren't picky?

She has potential to be liked by someone not taller than her and for her to reasonably like them back. That's realistic and not as superficial.

And I can stand the idea of Marcus finding someone to replace Johnny's late mom, just not if it means destroying the mentioned potential Suki had with other characters, or better yet, maybe not have Johnny's mom dead after all. Incidentally, what is it with Illumination and not having characters' spouses present? Marcus, Jimmy Crystal, Clay Calloway (that I can excuse), and we cannot completely conclude that Buster's mom is dead too.

I seriously hope Illumination doesn't force them into being so. I can handle it being done in fanfictions, but not in actual canon because that means they'd have to be canon in every universe (like how Mickey and Minnie are a couple in every universe and so on with other cartoon couples).

Ffs Sing has so many characters, they need to tone it back a bit. I juuuust about squeezed everyone on. But it looks messy and hard to read, so I can’t show my reasoning behind my answers, but I’ve been using the same method as last time. I had to do this one by one and jot the measurements down because doing it all at the end is clearly impossible.

It’s hard to tell exactly where Clay’s head ends and his mane begins. So his browline comes in at 5′5″ and his mane is 6′1″. So Clay is between 5 feet 5 inches and 6 feet 1 inch.

Suki is 6 feet 1 inch. Illumination really were over the top with her; she’s not only taller than a lot of humans but on par with a lion and a wolf. A lot about Suki’s design breaks Illumination’s design “rules” and it’s clear they wanted her to have a very specific look. But I love it because it means their rules can be broken. Suki also wears high heels so I made sure to not include those in her height.

Jimmy Crystal is 6 feet 2 inches.

Porsha is 6 feet exactly. Turns out I was wrong about her being nearly Meena’s height. Still a bit OTT for a wolf though.

Ryan is technically right on the 5′10.9″ line, so I’ll round him up to 5 feet 11 inches. He’s a little bit taller than Johnny.

Alfonso is hard to tell because of his hat. His brow comes up to 7′11″ and the top of his hat is 8′5″. But we don’t know if it’s like a cap with a lot of space between the heat and head, or if it sits on his head snuggly. I think it’s safe to say he’s taller than Meena though, so I’d lean more towards 8 feet 5 inches.

Darius shocked me the most! Again, it’s hard to tell with him. The base of his horns reaches 6′5″, and his hairline (which is usually where the scalp sits...) is 6′10″. I didn’t realise he was so tall, but I guess he couldn’t be terribly shorter than Meena. So he’s between 6 feet 5 inches and 6 feet 10 inches.

Klaus my beloved is a lot shorter than I once thought! Before all this, I assumed he was like 6′. Turns out I was right the second time, and he’s 5 feet 3 inches. I usually gave a “canon” height of 5′4″ to Cadence but I did always say she was Nooshy’s height (and I assumed Noosh was 5′4″), so she’ll now be whatever Nooshy actually is.

Jerry is 2 feet 8 inches.

I didn’t have space to do all the gorillas, so I just did Stan because he was right next to Marcus in the screenshot and it was easy. I think they’re all about the same though, aside from Marcus. All the gorillas have a height for their brow and a height for their hair, like Johnny. Stan is between 5 feet 4 inches and 6 feet 1 inch.

Marcus/Big Daddy is a bit taller, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 2 inches.

Nooshy is 3 feet 10 inches.

I love Alyssa for many reasons. She is flawed and knows it. She isn't, for the most part, afraid to be herself. She likes what she likes and isn't afraid to show it. Alyssa has a big heart and feels things deeply. What don't I like about her? She won't let Jimmy and her family in.

That I create her canon? There is nothing to say that she can't exist.

That she isn't canon. If she was, Jimmy and Bobby would be more involved in Johnny's life and have a say or do something about his actions and the dojo war.

I don't know, a movie, I guess?

Umm, maybe "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper? She loves 80s movies and music. Alyssa has an urge to sing and dance along to them.

I recently went to Momocon and met Chris Wehkamp (English VA for Aizawa) and we came up with this head canon together

Aizawa listens to Johnny Cash or something edgy in front of other people, but in the shower or even when he’s alone he listens to sweet K-Pop and 90s music. Specifically 90s boybands.

Let’s say you were late getting off work and Aizawa was waiting for you at home. You come through the door and hear music blasting.

You round the corner after you slip off your shoes. Keeping your footsteps and breaths silent, you creep to your shared bedroom and welcomed to a crazy sight you could only dream up.

Shouta is in front of your full body mirror with the fan blowing in his face. That, however, is not the craziest thing, but your bonnet is haphazardly thrown on his head with stray hairs being blown by the fan. He’s singing in a makeshift microphone and when you get closer you can see it’s your hair brush.

He’s doing a weird little shimmy as he sings the lyrics. Despite how crazy this is, he looks at peace with himself.
