it's a pet peeve of mine when ppl frame Andrew as hating Aaron and being needlessly cruel to him... bc while yes, their relationship is fractured and strained, Andrew genuinely cares about his brother and wants the best for him, he just doesn't know how to show that in a normal way.

like he might not know how to express it in a healthy manner but Andrew LOVES Aaron, like he truly just wants Aaron to be healthy and safe. It's like, his whole Thing. Aaron is one of the most important people in his life. Andrew wants him around. He'd do anything to protect him.

I guarantee Andrew wants to be emotionally close to Aaron too, he just doesn't have the tools to do that and the thought of letting someone in terrifies him. He also has no concept of what a healthy sibling relationship looks like, so he has no frame of reference to work from.

Bram is already kind of a muppet, right?

Corruption is just muppet-Chuuya on a string, being swung wildly about like the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Imagine you are a muppet for as long as you can remember, and then one weird human pokes you, and suddenly you are also human for the first time alsksjdjf

Oh and the best part of this AU is Ranpo!!! Because if Fukuzawa convinced Ranpo that he had an ability when he was fifteen, then that means that Fukuzawa simultaneously had to convince a human boy that he was a muppet.

And Ranpo believes this for years.

Can you help me to animate again? I've been feeling unmotivated and I don't honestly like myself so it's probs fair that I get a push from someone

hey, speaking as a former animation major, animation is hard as hell. for me, it was always a struggle to work on a project that slowly, to put consideration into every frame, rather than blowing through it as fast as i could in order to finish it before i lost motivation. it can be very frustrating to commit yourself long-term to something that will only be a couple of minutes long.

that being said, you're not animating for current you, you're animating for future you. for the you who looks at the finished project and says, "wow, i made THAT?" it's like with any art form– you write or draw or animate or sew for the version of yourself who has forgotten how hard it was and only sees art that's cool as hell. just make something that excites you a lot, even if it's not as polished as you would want it to be, because rewatching/rereading/re-looking/re-wearing the final product will continue to excite you a lot. it's free serotonin. i still look at the archvillain animatics i made when i was 14-17, for an audience of maybe five people, and get HYPE.

idk if this helps, but you should make something that makes you feel like you just snorted coke, because even if you get frustrated making it, at the end of the process (and every time you revisit it) you will get that !!! feeling again.

imagine you have such intense control issues that you plan for every scenario you possibly can in order to prevent feeling as helpless as you did at eight years old. imagine feeling like you need to create backup plans upon backup plans regarding both friend and foe alike because you can never be sure what the future will hold but you need to be prepared for it (not for your sake, but for theirs, and for the world's. you will not let them hurt people that do not deserve it. you will not let them experience that guilt, that grief. you will not let anybody else become that child staring at his parents' unblinking eyes).

imagine coming up with a plan that sits at the back of your mind in which you completely rewire someone's brain as a last resort, only to be used on the worst of the worst because you would never take away someone's autonomy unless you felt it absolutely necessary (you hope it will never be necessary because you believe in second third fourth chances. you believe that everybody can change for the better. you need to believe that everybody can change for the better. you hope it will never be necessary because to change someone so drastically is to kill who they once were).

imagine your mind is taken over by the worst version of yourself. imagine believing that you are in control of your every action but knowing that you are different somehow. imagine being convinced by the voice in your head that you are doing the right thing; that this will save him; that you can stop him from dying an awful, tragic death once again. imagine finally waking up, finally being free, and finding that not only had you brainwashed yourself, but you had brainwashed your son. that you had taken that lastresort-worstoftheworst-pleaseneverdothis plan and used it on your child, someone that you love more than you thought yourself capable.

imagine that all you wanted was to protect yourself and the ones you love and yet somehow you have made things worse than they have ever been.

you wanted control over the unpredictable. it was a flawed plan from the start. where do you go from here?

honestly the more i hear about engstars and its TLs the more i absolutely dread the inevitable release of poltergeist and what may ensue from it, bc if if the translators themselves are already invalidating arashis identity then i Really Truly do not want to see how theyll translate natsume and tsumugis microaggressions/transphobia towards her. esp since ive noticed a rise in people being comfortably transphobic towards her, and i REALLY do not wish to see natsume and tsumugi being stupid fucking morons be used as evidence to discredit her

and i think this is all the more reason why its VERY IMPORTANT for engstars to DIRECTLY ACKNOWLEDGE arashi and her gender. bc sometimes characters are STUPID and RUDE and APATHETIC. enstars is a story with NUANCED and FLAWED CHARACTERS, and when a character is being a fucking asshole youre meant to PROVE THEM WRONG. but they dont even acknowledge arashi as a girl themselves. so, if you do use engstars, please keep pressuring them bc omfg this is so bad and i can only see it getting worse
