toji being all bundled up in his winter coat with a pretty green scarf around his neck (that you gifted him btw). his nose is red and his cheeks even redder as he taps his foot on the crunchy snow. he's waiting for you.

with his hands stuffed into his pockets, he hides from the cold bite while eyeing the passersby with furrowed brows, and even though the scarf hides the lower half of his face, you know he's wearing a sort of scowl. it's closer to a pout more than anything, but you won't mention it. his ears perk up at the sound of your voice calling his name and you feel warm at the sight of his face lighting up just a bit. it's cute. it's cute that he's so excited to see you.

he meets you halfway, his hands reaching for you as you close the distance between you. it's a quiet greeting, a very simple 'hi' accompanied by his scarred lips pressing against your temple as you hug him. in his arms, you feel safe. you feel at home. when he pulls away, he takes a second to look at you – the stars in your eyes, the bashful smile on your lips. toji thinks you look pretty as ever.

but his cute little daydream doesn't last.

a gasp makes its way out of the depths of his throat the second your hands cup his face, your frozen fingers sending shivers down his back.

the look on his face makes you giggle and the sound makes him furrow his brows again in return. he clicks his tongue. "you'll freeze to death."

"you'll save me."

he shakes his head with a sigh but takes your hands into his nonetheless. while keeping his, now very determined, eyes on your fingers, he brings them up to his face and gently blows warm air on them.

you hum. "my saviour."

the tips of his ears burn – his nose, his cheeks, but surely it's just because of the cold and because of his teasing lover. surely.

you see the grin he's so desperately trying to hold back and laugh at him once more. "my hero."

he grumbles. "be quiet."

he's still holding your hands, he's still warming them up. there isn't even an inkling of thought about letting you go, about letting your poor little fingers freeze. he will hold onto you for the entirety of the walk that's ahead of you. so he can keep you warm. and not because he so desperately wants to hold your fucking hand. it's not that. no way.

you lean up your toes while intertwining your fingers with his, and with no questions asked, he bends over to close the gap between you again. this is how it works. love.

a pair of cold lips meet the tip of his nose and toji lets his eyes fall shut at the sweet touch. he lets out a relieved sigh, a content one, and savours the way you smile against him. a kiss, and then another. a haste one to his lips before pulling back with that very same grin on your face that he adores so much. the kind of playful one, the one that tells him that you're going to be throw snowballs at him very soon. he loves it.

"are you going to get hot chocolate with me today, toji?"

he lets your glued together hands fall, only for you to start swinging them side to side. he doesn't tell you to stop.

"no."

"liar."

toji rolls his eyes, tonguing at his inner cheek as he does so.

"with marshmallows."

he loves you.

Being with Katsuki was never a challenge, you'd tell him something and he'd do it. Whether you liked the fact that he did that or not... That was the challenge...

It all started with you just scrolling through Pinterest and seeing an old DS. Offhandedly mentioning it to him before showing him on your phone. Not expecting him to scroll on his phone for maybe five minutes before showing you the same one on sale online, not even giving you the chance to object before he pressed pay.

 Shooting him a half hearted glare before he just rolled his eyes at you. “You wanted it, didn’t you?” He watched you nod, looking a little less angry and a little more embarrassed at how he talked to you. 

Missing the slight twitch in his eye when he noticed you acting like he was scolding you… Okay, maybe he was a little. “I have one already, you can use my games or order some you’d wanna play together… Okay?” The way he muttered out his words made you grin a bit, leaning closer to his side and hugging him close with a hum. 

“Okay.” In the moment you thought it was sweet and it really was, but now you were stuck playing games with him more often than not. Sighing when he tugs your hand to get you to play with him again, rolling your eyes playfully before picking up your DS and starting it up again. “Did you wanna play party mode again?” He rolled his eyes a bit, huffing as he leaned his cheek to your shoulder as you both connected to each other on your DS’s.

 Smiling just a bit when you peck his hair, not even saying anything snarky as you blow a raspberry into it to piss him off. Seeing him be able to share the things he liked with you reminded you just how needy he actually was. 

Needing to be with you whenever you’d do anything, trying whatever you enjoyed just to have an excuse to be with you. Because you knew that, you went along with his antics, listening to him when he’d just press your DS to your side, nearly pouting as he looked at you silently. 

It’s funny to think that the man who could lift you up with one arm with no hesitation still could look so sweet when he got shy even if he wouldn’t admit it. You screamed dramatically when he won after you started button smashing, laughing loudly before hugging his side tight. He just grinned down at his DS, resting his cheek at the top of your head quietly before pressing his lips to it.

 Sighing before he got up and stretched a little, turning his head to you. “What do you want for dinner?” Oh yeah, you needed to eat, you probably would’ve forgotten if he didn’t feed you all the time. Katsuki was and will always regrettably so, be a big old sweetheart and he was yours.

Do you think homelander would be like those boyfriends in those videos online when the boyfriends will shake their heads at their partner when watching something like a rom com, reality TV show, or shows like ya know vampire diaries, gossip girl, ect and makes fun of it then leaves the room "judging" them, only to come back and stand glued to the TV bc they actually got invested in the drama and sit down next to them to watch it together . I feel like homie would make fun of shows like that and then secretly sneak back in, tryna see what happens next then when his partner turns around and catches him watching they just pat the seat next to them being like "Come on, ill restart the entire show for you since you like it sm" and he'd be grumbling but end up sitting down and watching it? Sorry if this is worded oddly and if you dont know what videos I'm talking about

HAH! I haven't actually seen the videos you mean but I know the trope. You know what I totally see him watching trash TV (alongside 'girly' TV shows). Like he'd lowkey get into the storylines and like you say begrudgingly be sitting down and watching from the start bcs dammit at least this is more entertaining than Deep's interview that was running live on a different channel.

Just give the man a hobby, I beg. Also it'd be nice for him to get a routine with his partner going. Like okay we gotta make sure we watch our daily episode. Can't go to bed without our ritual.

At the end of the day, the content doesn't matter. He's doing happy normal people things and spending time with his SO. What's not to like!

Sirius adjusted the collar of his shirt for the tenth time, his reflection in the small mirror by the fireplace looking back at him with equal parts nerves and determination. 

He had been waiting for this opportunity for a while.

A small round table stood in the center of the room. Two elegant plates rested side by side, surrounded by polished silverware. A candelabra sat in the middle, its many candles casting a golden glow that danced across the walls.

The scent of roasted duck and rosemary wafted from the kitchen, mingling with the faint sweetness of freshly baked bread. 

Sirius had spent the entire afternoon ensuring everything was just right, from the perfectly folded napkins to the table he had set half an hour ago. 

He had even fire-called Effie to get the recipes just right.

When the door opened, the noiret nearly jumped out of his skin.

“Moony?” he called, trying to sound casual.

“I’m home, annwyl,” Remus replied, stepping into the room. He froze, amber eyes widening as he took in the scene.

“Sirius,” he said. “What... what is all this?”

The dog animagus shrugged nonchalantly, or what he hoped was nonchalantly. “Dinner. For us. Thought it’d be nice, you know, something different.”

“You made all this?” The werewolf’s eyes darted to the kitchen, then back to Sirius.

“Effie taught me,” Sirius admitted. “Figured I’d give it a go. Thought you deserved something... fancy.”

Remus’s mouth dropped open. “You’re telling me you spent all day cooking, just for me?”

“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”

“I love you so much, cariad.”

“Love you too,” Sirius smiled, pulling out the chair for his boyfriend. “Now come and sit down before the duck gets cold.”

Remus chuckled, sliding into the chair. Sirius poured them each a glass of wine before taking his own seat across the table. 

“This is incredible,” the younger man said after a bite of food.

The gray-eyed man grinned bashfully. “Yeah, well, I had a good teacher.”

They ate slowly, savoring every bite.

After a while, Remus leaned back in his chair. “You know,” he said, his voice soft, “you didn’t have to do this. I don’t want you to go through this much trouble for me.”

“It wasn’t trouble. You- you do so much for me, Moony. I just wanted to do something nice for you.”

“Sirius Black, you absolute sap,” the dirty blonde said, smiling affectionately.

“Guilty as charged,” Sirius replied, smiling. “But you’re stuck with me, so...”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Well, you’re about to be stuck with me for the rest of your life. What do you say to that?”

“What?” Remus uttered, bewildered. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, well-” the noiret got up and dropped down to one knee, pulling out a small velvet box. “Remus John Lupin, will you marry me?”

The werewolf was sitting, shocked, hands covering his mouth. Sirius looked closer, and there were tears glinting on his face. “Really? Of fucking course I will, Sirius!”

Remus wasn’t the only one crying now.

Summary: the beach episode, your yautja and you go for a swim and some shenanigans happen.

For hunters who regularly, and quite literally, bathed in the blood of their enemies, yautia were surprisingly hygienic.

It was one of the first things you noticed when you agreed to explore the galaxy with your lover. They could be rolling around in mud, get beaten up and bruised with blood running down their mandibles, but they always returned home to you clean and smelling completely neutral.

It was pleasant, really. Seeing as you'd already made peace with saying goodbye to your sense of smell when you met them, having only known them as sludge-covered barbarians back then.

You smiled softly as you admired your body in the one-piece bathing suit and swimming trunks you'd picked for today. There were many things you didn't know about their species, in fact you still find yourself surprised by the gentler aspects of their society.

Mothers asking politely if their pups could touch your odd-looking dreads, elders stopping in their tracks to tell you you did a good job when they see the small rodent skulls you cleaned up and hung on your belt, or that group of overconfident youngbloods that promised to teach any yautja that decided your inferior strength was grounds to get touchy a lesson. 

Their species was full of unexpected kindness. And the reason you were getting ready for a swim today was proof of it.

Yautja Prime, their home planet, wasn't quite what humans would call idyllic. The atmosphere was dense and hard to breathe in, the ground rocky with little vegetation. You'd compare it with a desert, except unlike a desert, their planet had a vast amount of water, stored in vulcano-like craters.

Only problem is, the temperature there is just barely below the boiling point of water. Way too hot for any human.

So after complaining to your mate for the upteenth time, they decided to surprise you with a little trip to another, much cooler planet. Your concerns about deadly creatures lurking being quickly shut down when they told you it was a place often sought out by elders to relax after they were done hunting.

So now all you had to do was pack your few things and board the small freighter you and a few other Yautja would be flying to get there.

The thought unnerved you a little, being so close to a bunch of strange Yautja, especially since your mate would be waiting on the planet already and therefore couldn't protect you if something happened. But even through your innate fear, you knew those thoughts were stupid.

These were trusted elders, not only were their hunting days over, but they would never bother trying to take down a lone, unarmed human. Especially since you were basically trapped, with nowhere to run or hide, and therefore way too easy prey, if they could call you prey at all.

So you grabbed your small bag full everything you'd need on your trip and made your way through the long halls until you reached a much smaller ship.

Standing a little further off, you watched as different Yautja conversed with each other and walked on board, feeling your dread rise regardless of wether it was logical or not.

You tried to make out what they were saying, but despite living amongst their people for a while now, their language still only sounded like random clicking to you. You sighed.

"Okay?" a deep voice interrupted your solitude.

You flinched as a big hand grasped at your shoulder, quickly disappearing at your reaction. "Sorry."

It was another Yautja, seemingly a little older than your mate, adorned with battle scars and markings and missing a tusk. Their voice sounded stiff and robotic, like they learned their English from computer recordings, which wasn't too odd. Many youngbloods had started to learn human languages to aid the relationship between your two species.

Which made you silently wonder why this elder was learning it. Regardless, you bowed your head respectfully, and used your basic knowledge in ASL to greet them. Hearing their rapid clicks, you couldn't help but crack a smile.

"Heeelo, hello." They huffed, placing their hand on your chin to make you look up at them. When you faced them again, their mandibles were spread widely - something you've come to understand as a smile of their own.

"Ooman. I know your language, speak with me." They growled, and you nodded sheepishly. Apparently learning the best through doing is a universal experience.

And like that, your little trip seemed just a little less terrifying.

Nin'tui, as you'd gotten to know them, had shared with you stories of their greatest hunts, occasionally switching to sign language when their English wasn't enough. And while, as expected, the other elders on the ship were less enthusiastic about your stay, they didn't bother to complain. There were even a few who'd join in to chat about their own battles and the planet you were about to visit.

All in all, the trip was less unnerving than you'd thought, and a lot shorter too. Your sense of time wasn't the best up in space, but you could swear it wasn't longer than two hours until the ship gradually slowed, before setting down onto rich brown earth.

Once you set your eyes on the surrounding scenery, you couldn't get out of the shuttle fast enough. If not for your traveling companion, you would've probably been scolded for the amount of Yautja you almost tripped by running outside as fast as you did. But there was no helping it- blue skies! Brown earth! And, most importantly, air that you could actually breathe in!

And when your feet finally hit the ground you couldn't help but let out a long and joyous laugh. "Aaaaaah, I can't believe we're actually here!"

"Believe it." a way too familiar voice called from behind you, making you spin around to throw yourself at them in excitement.

Without flinching, they simply caught you, holding you high in their arms as you all but assaulted their face with kisses and thank you's. Or at least that's what the other yautja must've thought, muttering amongst themselves as if they were viewing something scandalous, a few stepping closer to get a better view of the strange ritual.

But your mate simply purred, leaning into your affection as their voice rumbled against you "You should wait to express your gratitude until you've seen the waters!" they laughed, and you shook your head as you gave them a last kiss between the eyes.

"I'm just so happy to be here! Just look!" you jumped out of their arms, gesturing towards the fields of flowers "this planet is beautiful! Almost reminds me of some corners of earth..."

You smiled at the thought, and they chuckled as they put a large hand on your back. "We should walk with the others, the waters are not far."

And so the two of you walked slowly behind the larger group of yautja, them slowing their pace to match yours as you cheerfully took in your surroundings. Beautiful was truly the right word for it.

Tall grass with taller flowers that swayed gently in the wind, going on for kilometers until reaching a distant forest, that you imagined to be just as wonderful.

After about 30 minutes of walking, elongated by your habit of stopping to sniff every alien plant you could reach, you finally made it to the lake. About 500 meters of fresh water that seemed to almost glow in the sunlight.

Standing in awe, you barely registered your mate sliding your backpack down your shoulders and throwing it to the side. It was only when you felt a claw tug at your shirt that you snapped out of it, matching their equally confused expression.

"Don't you want to swim?" They asked, and you chuckled at the misunderstanding.

"Oh, yeah. These are my swimming clothes." you explained, yet their expression didn't seem to lighten.

"No, no. Swimming." they accentuated their words, pointing towards the water as if you simply didn't hear them the first time.

You nooded, dumbfounded, "Yes. Swimming." but as they continued to stare at you like an alien (heh), you shook your head "just- here, come on."

You took their hand, leading them towards the water and to your relief they followed without complaint. At the edge of the lake, you grinned up at them excitedly, before taking a leap, splashing them with the surprisingly mild-temperature water.

Though as you came to the surface and brushed your wet hair out of your face, you were not faced with the annoyed yet amused expression you'd expected on your mate, not that you were registering their expression at all since seeing them stand there in all their naked glory practically fried your brain within seconds.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" you yelled, making them jump slightly and their mandibles flare.

"What?" they asked, way too calm for your taste.

"You're naked!" you whisper-yelled, and they simply nodded, before jumping into the water next to you.

"Yes. Swimming." They repeated your words back to you with a very deadpan expression.

"But- love, no!" you were furious as you tried to explain this to them "We're not alone out here there are oth-" but as you looked to gesture at the others around you, you were met with even more naked yautja, unashamedly bathing in the sun.

Blood rushing to your face, you try to cover it with your hands, glad to be able to stand at this point in the water. You felt a hand lay itself on your shoulder.

"I'm sorry. Are you okay?" your mate asked quietly, bending down to meet you eye-to-eye. "I didn't know you'd be bothered by this. You were fine with me disrobing, I thought..."

You simply shook your head at them, forcing yourself to be a grown up and pry your hands from your eyes. "No...no." you sighed "I'm fine."

"But a warning would've been nice, I uhm..." you couldn't help but grin at your own embarrassment "I-I guess I just didn't expect to ever see any nude yautja aside from you, you know?"

Thankfully they didn't seem to judge you for it though, as they simply looked at you with that ever present curiosity. "Humans arent nude around each other?"

"We are but....usually just around friends and family, you know." you bite your lip as you dare take another glance at your surroundings "and usually only around our own species."

You can see them nodding from the corner of your eye, "I understand." yet something still seems to bother them.

"You are free to do as you please, however... you always encourage me to partake in your culture. Perhaps you should try and see this as an opportunity to partake in mine."

Their words stung. They were said without pressure or malice, a simple suggestion- but it stung. They had always gone out of their way to make you the most comfortable, this trip was proof of it, and you liked to think you were doing the same for them.

But were you?

"But what if they'll look?" you asked, your face still a shade darker just at the thought. "Then let them look." they replied in earnest "You are very attractive. Let them see what they don't have."

And people did look.

Though, to your surprise, no more than they usually do. Seeing a human walk around and do human things could only get so exciting you guessed, and nudity truly was natural to them.

Over time and with a little coaxing you were even comfortable enough to briefly leave the water, if only to get your towel and wrap it around yourself.

Letting yourself relax in the sun that, even hours later, didn't appear to go any lower, you're interrupted by the low purring of your mate. Smiling, you turn to face them.

"Thank you for bringing me here," you begin, only for them to interrupt "Thank you for coming. And," they truly seem grateful as they incline their head "thank you for 'stepping out of your comfort zone.'"

You chuckle at the human idiom. "My comfort zone is wherever you are." you say earnestly, and they simply purr louder in response.

now your husband, his worry became tenfold. back when he was still single, Zhongli barely uses his paid vacation from work. but due to your carelessness, he began to use them frequently.

Zhongli knew that falling in love with you will result in a bittersweet relationship. cut short by time taking away the liveliness of your soul. so when he keeps hearing the same apologies over and over with no absolute change done by yourself alone. Zhongli guesses it's time to do things as your husband. he vowed to take care of you after all.

you know that he won't harm you. he loves his spouse too much to do that. however, he won't let you be without consequences and long hours of lecture if you disobey him.

this is them in their first year in Nekoma. When they first met and they couldn't stand each other. Everything is a competition. They keep throwing petty comments at each other.

Yaku thinks Kuroo is the most annoying person ever, he gets under his skin in a way nobody did before.

Kuroo? Kuroo cannot stop talking about this boy, to his dad, to Kenma, to Kai. He complains, complains, complains, about how good of a libero Yaku is, how smart he is, how annoying Yaku is, and how he does NOT have a crush on him.

this is something they would say to each other at some point in their second year.

They're friends but the bickering is still there. There's not a single day where they don't argue about something dumb, they make fun of each other 24/7 but it's different, now it's playful, they don't truly mean it. They make sure to never cross a line, Kuroo never makes fun of Yaku's height and Yaku never says something that could truly upset Kuroo

They finally reached a point where they respect each other, as classmates, friends, teammates. Kuroo trust Yaku on the court and off the court. Yaku can see the potential of Kuroo, he knows Kuroo is going to be captain next year, his captain.

"oh, Yaku-san. what are you thinking about?"

"how perfect the world would be if Kuroo wasn't here"

it happens in their third year.

Yaku can pinpoint the moment when he saw Kuroo and his heart just when thump thump thump and his brain went "oh nooooo"

suddenly, Kuroo's ridiculous hair looked good, atractive even, and the obnoxious smirk and crappy science puns were really doing it for Yaku.

so he does the only reasonable thing; he starts to ignore Kuroo. Which is almost impossible because they share classes and are on the same team so now he has to live with the embarrassing fact that he, Yaku Morisuke, likes likes Kuroo Tetsurou

It takes one week and two days for Yaku do something about his crush. He waits until practice is over to grab Kuroo by his shirt and say something along the lines of "i like you, don't you dare look so happy, i'll pick where we're going bc you have shitty taste"

"Oh? i have a shitty taste Yakkun? well, i do like you so i guess this time you're right"

They start dating and the team quickly notices the change in their relationship. Kei and Kenma know from the start, but they don't really tell anyone else from the team.

but of course they notice, bc they're not subtle. They notice Yaku's rosy cheeks when Kuroo is standing a little too close to him, they notice how Kuroo is in awe every time Yaku is on the court. Somehow they bicker more, but now it's more playful, more flirty.

They're not very physically affectionate but they don't need to be for their relationship to be obvious.

So Lev, who really never thinks before opening his mouth, says "oh you guys are so cute together, how long have you been dating?" Kenma sighs, Kai looks tired, Yamamoto mutters "Lev you big idiot". By the end of practice Lev remembers why Kuroo calls Yaku 'demon senpai' and will never forget.

They're THAT couple once everyone finds out about them. they say "i hate you" and then make out.

They still date in college and that's when it gets serious. Yaku spends most of his time in Kuroo's dorm, they talk about plans, about the future they want to have. They talk about moving in together. Everything is fine

It happens one night while they cuddle on Kuroo's bed.

"i want to play overseas" and just like that, their relationship crumbles.

Yaku is good at recognizing his emotions, he's not afraid to cry, to show anger, to show his happiness. BUT this is different, because he feels so stupid, so weak.

He keeps waiting for Kuroo to text him, to call him. He wakes up at night and the only thing he can think of is how cold his bed is without Kuroo. He wore his heart on his sleeve, he showed Kuroo his most vulnerable side, loved him in a way that was way too consuming.

and now he's defenseless, alone in another country with a heart broken.

six months pass and Yaku is making dinner in his small apartment in russia when someone knocks on his door.

he opens it and there he is, in front of Yaku, Kuroo Tetsurou.

"how did you know where i live?"

"Kai gave me your address"

"and why are you here?"

"i wanted to see you"

and Yaku breaks down, he starts to cry, he doesnt even invite kuroo inside bc its too much. He spend months missing Kuroo, thinking he ruined it.

And yet, Kuroo is there. Because thats who Kuroo is. He wants and he does everything to get it. He picks people who are going to be important in his life and never lets them go.

He loves Yaku, so why should he let him go?

they talk and Yaku tries to be realistic, to think logically. How are they going to date when they don't even live in the same country? What if Kuroo meets someone else? what if they somehow ruin the little bit of friendship that's left? Kai and Kenma only have so much patience.

"Long distance is going to make us miserable"

it's easy. to close the distance, to wrap his arms around Kuroo, to kiss him. it feel like so much time has passed but at the same time its like no time has passed. He feels a little bit dizzy and god he feels so happy he can't help but smile into the kiss.

perhaps they had always belonged to each other.

Yaku wakes up next to Kuroo. He doesn't have practice so they can stay in bed for a little longer. It's nice, it's perfect.

Kuroo is smirking and Yaku want to both kiss him and punch him.

and Yaku smiles. He spent so much time thinking there was nothing that he could do to fix things but Kuroo never doubt them, never gave up.

So maybe Kuroo earned the right to smirk so smugly at Yaku.

You couldn’t stand feeling like a shadow that he walked past every single damn time. It was insulting at this point.

There was a point in time when you truly believed that your relationship was strong enough to get through thick and thin.

Beomgyu made you believe that, anyways.

Lately, you’ve seen him maybe twice a week if you’re lucky. But that was well after midnight and you were already in bed, few words were exchanged as he fell asleep immediately after changing.

He stopped leaving notes or texts for you to wake up to in the mornings, no updates throughout the day unless he was going out of town.

To be fair, you weren’t much different. You stayed in your office several hours a day, seven days a week. It used to be due to major projects coming in where you would take the lead on. Now, it’s because you couldn’t stand to sit alone in that apartment longer than you needed to.

How the hell did we get here?

Both you and Beomgyu used to text each other often, expressing each other’s excitement to share a meal, or meet each other for multiple dates throughout the month.

Nothing is ever planned anymore. Everything is last minute, quick, and most painfully: quiet.

You yearned to hear Beomgyu’s laugh, or his teasing, just something. Anything had to be better than this standoff between the two of you that seemed to have no clear beginning nor end.

However, you were not the only one suffering. You could feel it. Beomgyu was also feeling the heaviness of the atmosphere within your two-year relationship.

Beomgyu has been shutting himself in his studio, his only company being instruments and speakers at full blast. But he was rarely able to come up with anything tangible, just simple beats or verses that went nowhere.

He felt like he was slowly trickling into a puddle far below him, unable to do anything about it but watch. Words left him any time he saw you, and he watched as what the two of you built together crumbled apart.

The other members tried to reach out and understand how he was feeling but Beomgyu gave them nothing.

He gave you nothing.

He lost the ability to go to you with his worries some time ago. He wanted to come across it again, he missed being able to.

At this point in time, it appeared that neither of you had anything else to give to each other. Just solemn silence.

“Are you two going to end things?”

That was a question you heard from the members, your friends, and quite literally anyone who knew of the situation.

Of course you didn’t want to end things, that was the last thing you wanted. And you hoped Beomgyu felt the same, but your options were beginning to disappear.

Plus you weren’t sure if your heart could bear much more of this. Very few threads still connected the two of you.

You could pack a bag. You could stay with your parents for a while. You can see how life would be like without this. Without Beomgyu.

It’s not like there’s much left to miss.

“What are you doing?”

A low voice startled you from your speeding train of thought, eyes focused on the clothes that were half stuffed into a duffle bag. You looked up to see your boyfriend standing in the bedroom door frame, with a bag of takeout food in one hand and in the other was his phone, open to the text messages between the two of you.

The contact photo was a selfie Beomgyu took of the two of you a while back, he surprised you with a kiss on the cheek right as he clicked the ‘capture’ button. Recalling that memory only made your heart ache more. How could he look at that photo and still be unable to say more than ‘goodnight’ to you?

“Y/N, what’s with the bag?” This time, your boyfriend’s voice was softer, as if he was beginning to understand what he was witnessing.

You were halfway correct about the photo Beomgyu had selected for your contact. He adored that photo, he looked at it more times throughout the day than he’d like to admit.

Soobin caught him today looking at the photo, he could hear Beomgyu’s sobs from outside the studio’s door.

“You’re not getting anywhere looking at their photo when Y/N is at your apartment right now. They likely miss you as much as you miss them,” The sound of the leader sitting on the couch quickly fled Beomgyu’s ears as he sighed.

“It’s all I keep telling myself. They’re right here. I can’t help but feel pathetic for being like this..”

Silence filled the room for a moment, but of course, the question weighing heavy on Soobin’s tongue was obvious.

“What exactly has been—”

“I don’t think I can give Y/N more. I am all that I can be, and I don’t think that’s enough for them,” Beomgyu covered his teary eyes with his forearm, letting himself feel the weight of the world on his chest. “I can see us being together for so long, but at the same time I can see them being unhappy and never telling me.”

Beomgyu’s mind flashed back to when the two of you picked each other up from the lowest of times, wondering if you were true to your word that you’d always be there, and that you were more than happy to do so.

Soobin sat in front of Beomgyu, resting his hands on the younger member’s shoulders. And then proceeded to shake the living hell out of them.

“Wake up!! You’ve been in this spiral for how long? You know what you can do, you know that you’re able to fix this. You’re scared, Choi Beomgyu. You’re scaring yourself into isolation.”

“I don’t think I can get them back, Soobin..”

“…You should go to them. Just sit with them, because personally Beomgyu? I think you’re running out of time,” Soobin spoke up about the very fear Beomgyu, and you as well, had been dwelling on for the past weeks.

The bag of takeout crinkled from how much Beomgyu’s hand was shaking. He processed one thing at a time.

There was an open duffle bag on the bed. That bag had clothes in it, your clothes. And you. You were looking at Beomgyu with desperation and guilt.

“Are you done, Y/N? Is this it? Are we done? I mean… What is this?…”

“Beomgyu.. I..” You ran a hand through your hair, huffing.

“It’s the last thing I want. But how much longer could we have done this?”

“I didn’t mean for this to go on so long, I needed time to think and.. I don’t know—”

“What did you think I needed? The silence? The isolation? I just wanted you, Beomgyu!” Tears were threatening to start rolling down your face, you just felt so angry at this point. Any other emotion was exhausted by you throughout the past weeks.

“Y/N. I’m sorry. I truly am… Do you want to talk now? Over some good food?” A somber smile met Beomgyu’s cheeks as he lifted up the bag of takeout that is likely to be cold soon.

Your mind was going between the tied plastic bags and your duffle bag, going between how you’re night was going to go.

Are you truly ready to talk about everything?

You finally met Beomgyu’s eyes, the tension was thick and the stakes were high. This was a relationship you both cherished and wanted to fix, tonight is just the first step into reaching the comforting endearment the two of you have shared for so long.

You walked up to your boyfriend, taking the takeout bags from his hands, and made your way to the living room for a late-night dinner.

“Come on!” Hyrule casts a glance over his shoulder, smiling through the rain that runs down it in unending rivulets. “It’s not much further.”

Behind him, Time pushes aside a large leaf, seemingly unbothered by the water that cascades from it.

“What do you mean to show me, Hyrule?” He asks, eyebrow raised. The blue of his eye, the navies and crimsons of the markings on his face and adorning his wings — they almost glow in this world of mossy greens and stormy grays. “You’ve claimed that it’s ’not much further’ several times since the start of our journey.”

Hyrule chuckles. He clambers up the slippery surface of a sizable stone, wings spread to help him balance. Time follows suit.

“Well, this time it’s true.”

He comes to a halt and straightens, peering through the downpour.

A fond smile lifts Time’s lips. “Is it now?”

Hyrule grins. “Yup. Cause we’re here!” He spreads his arms in presentation and sends water droplets flying in all directions. “This is what I wanted to show you!”

“A fairy ring.”

Time breathes the words more than speaks them. A quick glance at his awed expression and Hyrule’s face splits into a grin.

It was no easy feat convincing the hero to follow him out here. If he has learned anything about Time in the past months, it is that the man takes his responsibilities very seriously. A brief break to tell stories along a long path, or a laugh with the others by a crackling fire — those he will take. But to leave the heroes, to go off and explore of his own accord, is something he is less likely to do.

The rain, however, had proven unexpectedly helpful. Time is inexplicably drawn to it. It’s as though there is something in its endless curtains of slate that only he can see, a call only he can hear.

It had been enough, enough to coax him here.

Hyrule flits down into the midst of the dancing mushrooms, excitement fluttering within him. There is great magic in fairy rings. Magic to bring a Hylian peace or healing. Magic to make a fairy feel whole.

He has treasured his time spent in the ones back home. They have soothed his aching body and soul, provided salvation from harm, brought him joy and good company. And now, he wants to be able to share all of that with the man who he believes is beginning to trust him.

The man who is becoming his friend.

“I haven’t seen one of these in a long time,” Time murmurs, tone distant, fond. He runs a hand over the tops of the delicate fungi, watches as their pinkish spores float lazily upwards. “They’re rare in my Hyrule. Well, in all parts except for one.”

Hyrule sprawls out on the moist grass, stares up into the rain.

“Where?”

He can imagine the slow smile on Time’s face, the almost shy duck of his head.

“Kokiri Forest.”

He comes to sit beside the traveler. His wings waft gently back and forth, sending raindrops dancing out of their natural path. Fairy dust floats around them, enveloping the two fae in a haze of purples and pinks, emerald and blues. Hyrule turns to peer at him through it.

“Kokiri Forest…I don’t think you’ve mentioned it before.”

“I haven’t?” Time’s lips lift in the ghost of a grin. “Ah, well, it was my home. Before Malon, that is.”

He looks up at the sky and the rain cascades down his face like tears. “I suppose, a part of me will always rest there…though I can never return.”

It is silent for a long moment. Then, Hyrule sits up and gently bumps his shoulder.

“You know my favorite part of fairy rings, old man?” He asks, grinning. “No matter how far away you are, no matter how long it’s been, they always make you feel like you’re right back there. Back home.”

Time sighs and it trembles a bit at the end. But he doesn’t pull away from the traveler’s touch. He leans into it instead, if only slightly, and raises a hand to try and catch some of the more energetic pieces of dust.

“Yes,” he murmurs, softly, as the forest sings with the notes of an oddly familiar song.

“Home.”
