I love Chat GTP it has helped me a lot!
BUT using to write entire essays now that is not right! Even the site itself says that some info might be wrong! And I have tested said theory during my creative writing brainstorming with Chat GTP, I have said something factually and historically wrong that is factually and historically correct and the chat run with it without correcting me, so that goes to show a lot! Having said that, 600 words (for me at least) it's not that hard to write but of course is all objective and subjective. I'm a very talkative person both on paper and in real life, so finding words it's easy for me, but I have found myself struggling to write essays when the topic I'm being asked to write about isn't in my wheelhouse and/or I don't give a flying fuck about or can delude myself to give a fuck about. So, I can see how Chat GTP can come in clutch when the aforementioned scenario takes place. Alas, Chat GTP is a helping tool not a one-solution-fits-all! You should use it to enrich or brainstorm your essays and even use to help you narrow down your essay if you tend to ramble in them!
From personal experiences I have been given to do an essay during my second degree (Filmmaking was my major) that I couldn't bring myself to care about in 2018 when Chat GTP didn't exist, the agonizing sensation I felt trying to research the material…my god I wanted to rage against everything! And the essay it was for me to read and watch Arthur Clarke's 2001 Space Odyssey and make comparisons between the book and the movie, highlight the directorial inputs and cinematography and the writing behind the book plus a mini deep-dive on the author of the book and director of the movie and actors and the cultural impact of both in our society, and the film industry, both artistically and technically. If I had Chat GTP back then I won't lie, I would have used it as some capacity but I wouldn't have used it to write my entire essay.
In addition, in 2023 I was given to do an essay in my third degree (Computer Science) and the topic of the essay was on AI; with the title and premise being AI and Humanity; The Pros, the Cons and the Future Maybes. I had kept the topic on educational, technical, governmental, industrial and medical with only honorable mentions on the artistic level because I was being too broad. It took me months to compile research and it was a topic I was very limited informed and I wasn't something I was that interested yet I wanted to learn more and saw the fun potential in learning more, but I was overwhelmed with amount of information and misinformation out there. Plus at the time they were HUGE developments in General AI, robotics based AI and Narrow AI that made me scrap my essay thrice! I was running out of deadline time and understanding of where and how I can compile all that and present it in just 20 minutes and to people who were above 50 years old with limited understanding in technology since that was my presenting audience. I was at a dead end and I asked one of my professors for help BUT found no help; I was told and I quote; "Go ask Chat GTP.".
I was appalled at the professor who would suggest such a thing instead of guide their student! And I grew so angry at him. And at the point, I hadn't used Chat GTP not once in my life at that time and I was doing an essay mentioning it, my little sister (age 21…yeah not so little but she is my baby sis even if she reached 100!) is and was set against and she had influenced my view on it too. So, out of spite towards my professor and curiosity I asked Chat GTP to help me shape up my essay to make it less rambling and it did help me! It unstuck me and helped calm my nerves and anxiety! It changed my perspective on Chat GTP and AI and I mentioned it in my presentation the next day. Mind you my presentation went swimmingly and my professor (not the one who told me to ask Chat GTP) requested to keep my essay as an example to show it to other younger students who were asked to do an essay on the same topic. I was honored!
And lastly, after that event, I used Chat GTP to teach myself more on the class of the professor who told me to ask Chat GTP, him and I couldn't see eye to eye since day one and his style of teaching triggered my ADHD (I'm diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia since I was six years old) and I couldn't keep up or understand him so I used my coursebook, Google, Chat GTP and various other blogs to teach myself Python programming and other thing on Computer Programming and Computer Network Technologies that this very same professor taught and again Chat GTP was a god-send. And now, in 2025, I'm teaching myself Copywriting using Chat GTP, videos on YouTube and blogs, it's a lot harder since I don't have a coursebook to guide me but again Chat GTP as a tool to enhance and keep me on a path is amazing!
But it won't and it shouldn't replace good old research both online and in books and new articles if that is possible for the topic of essay one is given! My late maternal grandma (a primary school teacher from 1950s to 1980s) used to say research is the cousin of learning and repetition of information learned is the mother of learning. And it's so true! And that is my two-cents on Chat GTP being used to author essays nowadays! Btw I'm 25 years old so not that old!

interesting ideas about AI art and by no means am I trying to send hate but I believe majority of people hate AI art is because it's truly just the byproduct of a giant plinko board bouncing through pieces of art made by artists who put love and care and SOUL into their work. A visual product of a math formula. While it's "art" in the most litteral sense, not having a true human behind it putting though and effort into its every detail, for many people (myself included) devalues it from a tradition artists work.
I'm a firm believer in the idea that AI art is inherently unequal to non Ai art, specifically for this reason. (Hope this made sense sorry if it's incoherent)
I agree in that sense there. I personally do not find myself wanting to engage in a work when I purposefully know the creator had used AI to create the entire product. Something something,,,I cannot find myself getting invested in something that is little more than a product. I don't wanna read a fic about my blorbos when it was written by Chat-GPT
I also agree with the idea that a lot of people hate AI art because of this heavily emotional, debatably reactionary mindset that stems from one thing: fairness. It's the same sort of emotion I find one gets if all of the work on a group project gets shafted onto them whilst their fellow peers sit idly by. It feels unfair to sink hours into your craft, spending all this time fighting to develop your skills and flourish as an artist, only to see someone type half a paragraph and have a machine spit back something that looks not half bad. Let's be honest with ourselves here and say that AI art, at least in a visual regard, has progressed quite a bit to the point where most of the mistakes people find can be dismissed as wonky perspective and the line art being a bit fucky, which is something a ton of artists struggle with too
People develop a sort of a superiority complex over it. I can't blame them honestly. A number of times I've felt it too when people tell me they're using Chat-GPT as though it were Google and when I see my family members and friends playing around with AI art. I gotta bite my tongue and choke back a chortle, both because it's kind of a dick move and also because I don't want to relish in this feeling. It's infectious though to feel as though you have an edge over another person just because you abstain from using Chat-GPT or whatever. Not to be all "grrgrgrr you should LOVE Chat-GPT and if you dare to say anything bad then you are EVILL!!" of course though. It's emotions. They're messy, intense, and oftentimes you don't really realize when you're feeling since you get locked into your perspective. Yet, I think it's important to realize a lot of hatred of this generative AI stems from emotions. Reactionary ideals and claims stem from emotions after all
I think ultimately what the conversation about generative AI should revolve around is about the concerns of labour. The several strikes from a while back from VFX artists and scriptwriters come to mind. They are most at stake from generative AI as tools like Chat-GPT are cheaper and more cost-effective than paying an actual employee for their time and effort. I would also mention the environmental issues, but if we were to talk about that we would also have to acknowledge the fact that so, so much water is being used up daily to generate power for servers. Hell, this post alone will probably contribute to drying up some marsh in the greater scheme of things
Anywho yada yada TL;DR: I agree yes but I also think it's important to recognize that a good chunk of your hatred to Chat-GPT stems from feeling cheated and a sense of pride and superiority over others for simply not using it. There is no quality to Chat-GPT that makes it inherently evil. I can't get upset at my grandma for sending me a photo of her and her dog that went through an AI anime filter. I can feel maybe some exhaustion when seeing a fellow classmate using Chat-GPT to write their essay, but ultimately I write my own work for the love of the game. I can get upset however at those in higher power who use it to push artists out of jobs. Chat-GPT is a tool that has its pros and cons and I think it's reductive to just basically sit there and hiss like a vampire when presented with a cross when faced with the mere word "AI", especially when your only big argument for disliking it is based purely in feeling cheated when someone types a prompt into a program and art that would've taken you seven hours to draw gets spit out in about a minute or two
#sp-rambles#Not to mention there's nuance to be had when discussing students and employees using AI to do menial tasks#I'd rather students use something like Wolramalpha or whatever to do their math homework as Chat-GPT is functionally useless#I've seen it straight-up make up proofs and just do shitty math that SEEMS right on the surface but is meaningless when actually applied#And I also would hope that a student would write the damn essay instead of handing it off to Chat-GPT#As essays (in particular crit lit ones) are designed so you show the capacity to analyze and think about ideas presented to you#But ultimately I think Chat-GPT is seen as a release from these things since let's be real it is pretty agonizing to do homework at times#It's a convenient solution that encourages a person not to participate and learn but to hand off their work onto a tool#It provides respite. It saves one from restless nights and staying awake till the morning churning out a barely comprehensive paper#Once more I do not like generative AI. I don't use Chat-GPT#I think it is only important to see the other side. To comprehend why a person may do things and to recognize your own short-comings#For example I've interacted with a number of international students who have said they use Chat-GPT or other generative AI to help study#because English is their second language and they can't afford to sit there in agony trying to understand something in a unfamiliar languag#Not when their families back home are paying 20 grand a semester to help them get a degree and they also need a to work eight hours to live#There's a nuanced discussion to be had here other than generative AI good or bad#Anyways enough rambling I need to get back to mass reblogging sad white boy and yellow cloak man yaoi and watch YouTubers play video games#ask

I just started grad school this fall after a few years away from school and man I did not realize how dire the AI/LLM situation is in universities now. In the past few weeks:
I chatted with a classmate about how it was going to be a tight timeline on a project for a programming class. He responded "Yeah, at least if we run short on time, we can just ask chatGPT to finish it for us"
One of my professors pulled up chatGPT on the screen to show us how it can sometimes do our homework problems for us and showed how she thanks it after asking it questions "in case it takes over some day."
I asked one of my TAs in a math class to explain how a piece of code he had written worked in an assignment. He looked at it for about 15 seconds then went "I don't know, ask chatGPT"
A student in my math group insisted he was right on an answer to a problem. When I asked where he got that info, he sent me a screenshot of Google gemini giving just blatantly wrong info. He still insisted he was right when I pointed this out and refused to click into any of the actual web pages.
A different student in my math class told me he pays $20 per month for the "computational" version of chatGPT, which he uses for all of his classes and PhD research. The computational version is worth it, he says, because it is wrong "less often". He uses chatGPT for all his homework and can't figure out why he's struggling on exams.
There's a lot more, but it's really making me feel crazy. Even if it was right 100% of the time, why are you paying thousands of dollars to go to school and learn if you're just going to plug everything into a computer whenever you're asked to think??

i don’t like AI use for schoolwork by any means but the way some ppl act about kids using AI to do school assignments make me roll my eyes as if kids from the dawn of time haven’t been finding new ways to avoid doing homework
#before AI there was websites and apps that did your math homework and copying friends hw and hundreds other ways to cheat#dgmw i do agree the extent to which ai is being used is concerning but god#but the way some ppl act it’s like they’ve forgotten what it’s like to be a kid and a student

i hate ai as much as the next guy but i need us to stop framing students' dependency on ai as purely a decision made by lazy kids to not think for themselves and to start framing it as a complex social issue influenced by factors such as corporations aggressively marketing ai to students, a media landscape (including both social and mainstream media) that rewards a lack of critical thinking, a severe K-12 teacher and staff support shortage, amongst many other things im not naming, and also yeah some kids who don't want to do homework, which was so many of us at one point except that there wasn't such a ubiquitous and simple way of getting out of doing the work for most of us. yes students do need to understand the value of doing scholarly work on their own in order to combat this issue, but is only part of any possible solution as it is really only a fraction of the problem.

So there's a post going around that I'm not going to engage with because my point is entirely different than what the discussion is covering there...
It's this thread: https://www.tumblr.com/galileosballs/783607164314976256/some-of-the-responses-to-this-have-been-in
(I will not be weighing in on that thread)
Here's the thing about schooling and Kids These Days from the elementary to the college level using generative AI (which is Bad for many reasons; I am not defending it):
School (for the purposes of this discussion, public school in the US because that's the only kind of schooling I personally have extensive experience with) is not designed to promote learning.
Lamentations about the ethics of the students who do this, about how this is devaluating education, about how it's frightening that future doctors etc are cheesing their way through medical school with AI all have their eyes on a particular symptom of a much, much bigger and deeper problem. That problem is ULTIMATELY capitalism, but on the way there it's about pedagogy.
I, from the perspective of not having been beholden to school for many years, can confidently say that I did not learn a single fucking thing in school between fourth grade (age 9; I learned how to do long division) and college (age 18, learned a lot of different things, absolutely none of them particularly relevant to any paid work I've ever had). School was a six to eight hour time sink (plus however long homework took) in my day that actively got in the way of me learning things WHILE piling a bunch of stress and trauma onto me that I had to spend years recovering from.
School, in the US, is designed from the ground up to train children into compliant workers. It's about showing up on time, being willing to follow arbitrary and often unfair rules, doing as one is told by figures of authority, and giving the desired answers to direct questions (while asking as few clarifying questions as possible). Curiosity and creativity are actively punished by public school.
youtube
"Does saying things that are true and that you know are true only matter when someone is giving you a little prize for it?" Literally yes, that his how the system is built. Under capitalism, there is no motivation to say true things that are true that you know are true. It is likely, in fact, to get you punished! If you want to change that behavior, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM THAT PRODUCES IT.
This quote, in particular, seems to miss the point hugely:
"Some of the responses to this have been, in essence, "well, it's not our fault for being raised in a bad educational system that prioritizes grades over comprehension". And you're right, it's not your fault.
But you freely admit the system is bad. That it values the wrong things.
So why do you limit yourself to only achieving what it values? Do you not aspire to be better than a system you know is wrong? Don't you want to change the world?" with a post script of "the system is bad and that fact absolves me of moral responsibility to be a good person” is CEO rhetoric frankly"
It should be noted that absolutely no one in the thread has espoused a belief that 'hat fact absolves me of moral responsibility' - they are all talking about ways that the system is rotten from the ground up and needs to be dismantled and rebuilt. Many, many people reblogging the chain are ascribing malice/excuse-making to people who are merely correctly identifying the problem. Explanations are not excuses; sorry that someone taught you that at some point.
No one in that thread has said "I use AI, and think that it's a good and laudable thing to do!" - that is not a position that anyone seems to be holding.
There are a lot of people in that thread who are indignant that anyone is going to college who isn't deeply invested in learning, as if that's the goal that sends people to academia.
We do not live in a world that rewards learning. We live in a world that awards the possession of credentials.
We do not live in a world where people pursue careers because they are inherently important and meaningful to them - they pursue them because they want to survive under capitalism. Most people are not going into healthcare, for example, because they genuinely want to help heal people who are sick or injured; they're doing it because it's a stable career that generated a livable income. I say this as a person who works in healthcare and deals with others working in the field.
"If you're using AI to get through your education you've not fucking earned your qualifications. That AI did."
No one has ever 'earned their qualifications' re: possession of a college degree. They have merely shown a capacity and willingness to jump through the required hoops.
Do you think that you can shame people into not using shortcuts?
I want readers to look at this thread:
which has a much more coherent idea of what the problem is and what can be done about it. I want readers to look into pedagogy; check out these old-ass videos:
youtube
youtube
And just... just go watch every Ted Talk by Sugata Mitra.
I think we as a society need to be far more honest in what the goals we have are and how they're best achieved. Most of the jobs that people end up spending their lives doing should not be asking for college degrees. Most people do not want or need to go to college. Most people in college, in school at all, are there under duress and the threat of destitution.
I really want people to reblog and reply to this with thier own thoughts - I know that's no longer vogue on tumblr, but I am trying really hard to bring it back. No, the replies will NOT be opened. Fucking reblog it.

Okay, so I just recognized some mistakes I’ve been doing lately literally just saved myself from repeating them again. And honestly, I noticed a lot of other students are making these same mistakes too. So here’s Part 2 of my “Study Mistakes I Did But Saved Myself Before It Was Too Late.” If you relate to any of these, take it as your sign to stop before it’s too late.
part 1

lesson 1 : the “failure” mindset.
Right now, I’m literally in this crazy state. Like the failure mode. It's insane , I do a million past papers, then I tell myself, “Yes, you did well today.” But I wake up the next day with the same mindset: No, girl, you need to do more. Like, what if all those questions don’t show up on the exam?Yes, stress can help it drives you sometimes. For me, it worked most of the time. That fear of failure push me to study harder. But don’t let failure control you. I really wish I could change my mindset, especially before big exams or finals. We always think, what if I fail instead of what if I succeed? So please, try not to stress too much. Even small efforts count. Stay motivated. I know discipline is important, but we’re human. Especially high school students there’s pressure from everywhere. Everyone expects something from you.So try to motivate yourself. Make your breakfast in the morning. Watch something motivational when you wake up. It will remind you why you're doing this. You’re a student. You need to succeed. But sometimes we lose that passion . So keep some backup motivation ready. Think: What if I succeed? Always and Study hard. Do everything you can so you can feel good and proud about urself later.
lesson 2 : using AI for essays.
Please, please, please stop using AI if you’re still doing it especially for essays idk about u use ai or not it's ur life idc but if u are a STUDENT hear me out If your exams are still a bit far and you’re using AI to do your homework, especially your essays, stop now.I swear, some classmates of mine used AI the whole year. Especially for French essays. I know not everyone is great at French even if it’s our mother tongue , some people treat it like a second language tooThere’s this one girl in my class she used ChatGPT for every single argumentative essay. And our teacher praised her: “Oh my god, I love your writing!” and gave her plus points. I got mad. Like… I wrote my essay 100% by hand, all real. And then the teacher accused ME of using AI? I was like Girl wtf 💀💀💀 this is 100% mine. And in the actual exam, that girl got 13/20 and i I got 19/20 and then the teacher believes me after •́ ‿ ,•̀.f you use AI all year, you’ll look so stupid in the exam. So please, even if you need help, don’t rely on AI. Just read articles, watch videos on YouTube, act like AI doesn’t exist.Read more, watch teachers online, documentary anything that helps you build real knowledge and vocabulary. You’ll get better and your essays will show it.
lesson 3 : Not organizing your notes.
This one is real. Please don’t do what I did: I lost every single note from first semester. I still don’t know where I put them.So if you’re someone who writes by hand, please always keep a folder next to you. As soon as you finish a paper, put it in the folder. Keep your folders in a place where no one touches them. The only thing that saved me I take pictures of my notes. So please, every time you write something important and feel like you might lose it take a photo. Just in case.
lesson 4 : Not sleeping early.
I’ve been doing this mistake recently, during prep week when we’re home from school. The stress is too much. Not because I can’t sleep I actually fall asleep in minutes. The problem is I don’t sleep early. I have no fixed schedule. If you study in the morning, you need to sleep early. I wake up around 5 or 6 a.m., but I sleep at midnight. That’s just 4–5 hours of sleep. And it’s not enough. I get headaches. I burn out.Today, for example, I woke up at 6 after sleeping at midnight. I had the worst headache. I made coffee but didn’t even drink it.Also, if you get headaches easily, be careful with coffee. Drink water first. Move around a bit before having it.So then I tried studying but couldn’t. I opened a YouTube video to study, but I couldn’t focus. I ended up lying down, playing the video on my phone, and falling asleep again with the teacher’s voice still playing I felt like a loser fr it made me so sad. So please, if you work best in the morning, be in bed at LEAAAST by 10 p.m.And if you’re a night owl and study until 2–3 a.m., please sleep long enough after that. Your brain needs it.Just be organize your sleep schedule. Everyone has their best time to focus just build your routine around it. The time will pass anyway, so spend it right.
stay healthy everyone 💭

Hi, can you write headcannnons of Baekjin as a boyfriend

Na Baekjin as your boyfriend
In the relationship, you will be the more active and talkative one, while he will be the calm one who listens.
I think Baekjin would be rather distant and cold in a relationship, but that's only because he's afraid of getting attached and eventually losing you.
He might buy you something you casually mentioned wanting, no matter how expensive it is, but taking care of you and showing sincere emotions is much harder for him, which is why his feelings might often seem insincere, leading to arguments.
His most toxic trait is that even if you want to break up with him, you won’t be able to — and if you do manage to leave, he’ll never let you be with anyone else.
He’s very good at controlling his emotions. He won’t hurt you physically, but when his words cut — it’s always on purpose. He knows exactly where to press to make it hurt.
He’ll never mention you to anyone in the Union — and he’s made it clear he doesn’t want you tangled up in that world. So the only moments you share are stolen ones: at school, and occasionally, behind closed doors at your place.
You don't have any unusual activities together, except for doing homework. You tell him what happened the other day when you were out with your friends, and he... he usually tries not to talk about what's going on at his job.
When you're together, he clings to you — but not in the sense of long hugs or kisses. It's that your hand is always in his when you walk or sit together, and he always unconsciously leans toward you. And when he kisses you on the forehead, he stays like that for a few seconds — and only in those moments do you feel his sincerity.
If you introduce him to your parents, they’ll accept him from the very first meeting and think that you couldn’t possibly find anyone better. He knows how to present himself well — polite, kind, the top student at his school, and on top of that, he manages to work too. They would never think anything bad about him — at least, he’ll hope they never hear about the Union. And you’ll never tell them about it.
I apologize if your idea of the character does not match mine, I tried to write this based on what I saw in the drama and how he behaved towards Baku. I also wanted to add that I recently saw that inserting "-" is a sign of AI, and in my post you can see it, but I only use AI as a translator, but if you want I can try and translate without using "-" in sentences.

i hate gen ai but i don't like how much i've seen people being nasty and insulting towards high schoolers using it for their homework. high school is fucking miserable and most of the work you're assigned is useless busy work that eats up all your time; students are looking for shortcuts not because they're stupid or poisoned by ai, it's because they know their time and effort is being wasted. if students were made to do less busy work and put under less pressure, they'd be able to learn a lot more and care about the work they're doing, therefore having less incentive to use gen ai.

So,, AI, huh?
I might sound crazy here but I'm still going to speak up because I'm genuinely concerned for my country.
Hi, I'm a Malaysian student (:
Over the past two years or so, the rise of AI has been quite,, concerning. And as of now, AI has advanced a lot. So much so that the education department in certain countries including mine are pushing AI into our studies.
And this is a problem. A huge one in fact.
I am not a fan of generative AI. It's destructive. It's destroying my hobbies, culture, ecosystem, and- slowly but surely- my studies.
The KPM (Education department of Malaysia ) has been pushing out these,, events about generative AI.
Here are some of the examples.

... And there has been multiple instances where my teachers and classmates used Chat GPT for class/ homework.
Even my mum- who's doing her degree uses Chat GPT religiously and my father supports it so much.
And some TV channels have started using AI in their azan or advertisments.
What I'm- trying to say is that. Using AI to do everything for you is bad. Using AI for art competition is bad. Using AI for EDUCATION is bad.
My future is at risk. I want to be an English teacher, please don't let it be just a dream. I don't want to just, go to Chat GPT for studying. I don't want kids in the future generation to be even more addicted to screens and fake intelligence.
Nobody's speaking up about it as much as I do, there are so many things wrong with Malaysia but nobody cared enough to try to fight against it
And I know our neighbours are also struggling so please listen to all of us.

To answer your question, I use AI as a tool.
Only use it to help me brainstorm ideas, overcome writer's block, helps me organize my complicated over-detail thoughts much better btw, allowing me to put out one-shots or headcanons on a decent schedule to my liking.
As mentioned in my pinned post—I am a busy university student.
So I'm currently taking courses such as chemistry (with lecture, lab, and discussion), psychology (research lab and lecture), a tutor at a writer center, and TRYING to find internship work; each day I try my hardest to at least slave away 4 hours a day to my writing.
I even stay up long periods of the night, get carried away (hence the reason my writing is so long: I’m a rambler), or prioritize my hobby over my long amounts of homework and research lab reports.
There a habit I have that I’ll go back to my previous writings, and literally edit it because I always reread my work and fix it properly for the new audience.
To add on, you weren’t the first person that asked this, as one professor straight up, accuse me of using AI for poetry gen ed, however turns out I just write like a fucking robot.
Plus, it was partially racism (he got fired) because he couldn’t believe me—a black woman could be so skilled at writing and speak properly.
And because AI looks at how many mistakes and vocabulary you use, so if you’re good at English writing it’s over T-T.
At the end of the day, writing is such a passion of mine as it’s something I do on the daily basis, it’s my only way to escape and express my emotions properly without bottling everything up, then eventually dealing with all the overthinking and stress.
I apologize if I have offended anybody.
I’ll understand if you stop reading my work.

Soooooo, I’ve been off the web and I’m suddenly seeing all this AI taking over AO3 happening.
Bots harassing people and another AI taking fics for databases— like why???????? It’s fanfiction, it’s mostly ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Hyper-fixation ramblings, and pure emotion for something the writer loves. Why in the world would anyone do this? Why are people taking the long and hard work, blood sweat and tears, literal history from 13 year olds or older or younger???? Any age actually???? Why? Why are people being so scummy that real life scum wouldn’t want to grow in their general vicinity?
Like, what’s the goal? Just to steal? Steal the Declaration of Independence at this rate, heck take the Mona Lisa— oh wait, Chat Gbt didn’t give you the right information and now your in police custody. Shame, you’ll need Ocean’s 8 and 11 to pull you out. No wait, you’ll need Audrey Hepburn to steal a million dollars for bail.
Ya know, I remember a time where art theft and book plagiarism was an actual crime that took effort to pull off. The mapping, planning, the get away car, the fights, and the sneaking people had to do was a big ass job. Now it’s a, guess who’s stealing Jenny’s fanfiction this week! Featuring Musklords and The Mother Board as themselves! Now staring the Dulingo Bird, Your Mom! And AO3, all being played by Markiplier! Directed by Hayao Miyazaki— coming out on YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!
Idk what to do, but I’m getting sad and a bit pissed off.
Edit: Aaaaand I just realized that I spelled Chat GPT as GBT. Whatever, that site doesn’t deserve my respect, it’s called GBT now. Garbage Bin Tech.
Edit: Know that this is not a death treat. I understand that this post calls people that use AI as Criminals. In truth, that is harsh and untrue. The creators of those tools, aka, the CEOs and whoever are involved with the brains of those ideas are the real culprits. Those who buy in and use AI are varied with their goals. Some do use AI to scam and be scummy. But others are just kids who are trying to get by in school. Or, people want to use it for fun. I understand why people use it, I just don’t agree with it.
My parents look at AI like it’s a new technology— similar to the internet. They don’t use it, but they say it won’t be going anywhere and that we have to accept it. Truthfully and respectfully, not true: AI can’t do anything we already do. It’s not being used to help the public. It should be used to help people with disabilities so they can speak and whatnot— NOT STEAL ACTORS VOICES AND USE THEM IN MOVIES AND ADS THEY DIDN’T ENDORSE. It’s taken critical thinking away, killing the planet faster, and scamming hundreds if not thousands, and using other people’s hard work to make CEOs richer. This is a Teen Dystopia Novel, change my mind.
Instead of ignoring the problem and making AI solve it, why not go at the roots and pull them out like the ancients of old? There are many problems, but AI is only a bandaid the size of a pea that is slowly rotting with the gash in our skin. It won’t make the pain go away, and it definitely won’t get better.
If your a tutor, help kids with their homework. If your a teacher, say students get a better grade if they don’t use AI. And if your a parent, help your kid.
AI should get a big ass water mark with every generation, and get fined for not doing so. Like, a big ass fine.

I was at a party yesterday and spoke to a friend's spouse who is wrapping up their teaching master's degree. I asked them about how they get around AI and student plagiarism and what they said blew my mind.
"I know when 'student A' writes something completely outside of their ability that it's AI writing it. 'Student B' who tries hard and makes an effort is easy to find. But at the same time, I want Student A who isn't good at writing to be able to use ChatGPT as a tool."
So I said, "wow, I mean as a writer that's really hard to hear to be honest."
"Well," future teacher said, "but you're a writer. You like to do that. I want to make sure Student A goes out into the world writing professional emails that they can use. If they need to use ChatGPT to do that then they should. It's a tool."
And I think I was too flabbergasted to come up with any real response. Because...isn't TEACHING your student how to WRITE the idea? Isn't it your job to give them the help they need to think for themselves? Isn't the whole point of learning how to do something to benefit your brain and your ability to move through the world?
I truly think this person saw ChatGPT as a tool. And I do concede that there are people with severe anxiety or other language/learning disabilities/communication difficulties who can benefit from the ease of it. But for the majority of students, I think using ChatGPT as a "jumping off point" is like telling an 8 year old "hey, this robot will do all your chores and homework and also give you ice cream and mommy and daddy may find out that the robot did the work but they probably won't look into it too much so why not have the robot do it".
You are helping your students lie better and put in less work thinking. We've all used spark notes or wikipedia or copied from a friend. But that requires effort. It requires teamwork, some level of research, communication, coordination. I'm going to sound old here but cheating used to take effort at the very least.
I haven't been a student during AI so maybe I'm totally off my rocker here, but this keeps students as stupid as possible so they can graduate with as little effort and learning accomplished, just so they can enter the work force with more anxiety, less self-worth, the inability to think for themselves, and hurt the environment all the while.
I pray every day for the demise of non-health/science/public good AI. The "great things" it will do for us is remove jobs, dumb the population, and ruin the environment while these corporations laugh all the way to the bank.
Anyways, FUCK AI and anyone who uses it.
