The "Americanization of the global internet" post and slow deterioration of local native culture gave me an idea: many users don't even know there is native language communities on this website, so if you know of a regional group/"subculture" on Tumblr, reblog/comment with the tags they use so people can find them and connect with other folks from their countries or speakers of a language they'd like to learn
I will try to update this post with every new addition to hopefully make a comprehensive list of Tumblr regional communities

Every time the subject of a possible US civil war or national divorce comes up I hear the same micron deep takes. America couldn’t break up because the division isn’t by state, its Urban Vs. Rural. Or that Urban vs. Rural isn’t the divide, even then people of different politics are mixed up together. Or that for every clear red or blue state there’s a purple state. None of which is in any way relevant to anything until you recognize the naïve mental model many of these people are working on... These takes betray a belief that a second civil war would be some kind of conflict between coherent independent states who’ve started identifying with/against the idea of union such as happened in the 1860s… or that somehow there’d be a series of tidy Quebec style referendums resulting in a clean division such as exists in so many meme maps:
The truth is any post-breakup map of America would not resemble an electoral map following state lines, nor even a redrawing of state boundaries, such that the fantastical greater Idaho or Free State of Jefferson might exist as part of a wider Confederation of Constitutional Republics, or a Breakaway Philadelphia city-State join a Union of Progressive Democracies…  No. It’d be nothing so comprehensible or easily mapped to modern politics. A post breakup America would probably look closer to this:
Tumblr media
(I really do apologize for all I’m going to have to digress) For our purposes we can broadly divide history into 2 types of period… Periods of Centralizing trends, and periods of Decentralizing trends.
Centralizing Eras are consistently defined by big Heroic (classical sense of the word) figures that lead great armies or great nations and either win and centralize control under themselves or lose and get centralized under another. Alexander, Hannibal, Scipio Africanus, Julius Caesar, Agustus, Wolfe, Horatio Nelson, Napoleon, the Duke of Wellington, Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, Grant, Lenin, Trotsky, Woodrow Wilson, Mussolini, Hitler, Rommel, Churchill, Montgomery, FDR, MacArthur, Stalin, Zukav, Mao… On and on we could list the names.
Normandy and England’s William “The Conqueror” captured England (but not Wales, Scotland or Ireland) creating a unified kingdom on both sides of the English channel…in a feat every English schoolboy has memorized ever since (1066 and all that)… And William’s total Domain was less than 1/20th what Alexander had achieved 1300 years before. Likewise Shakespeare immortalized Henry the 5th as the very avatar of Mars…Achieving the English dream and conquering France! Only to die of dysentery within the year and have his territorial gain be entirely lost within a generation. Likewise Charlemange’s 8th and 9th century unified empire of France and Germany broke apart within a generation. And as late as 1718 Charles XII’s extraordinary military victories and revolutionary tactics couldn’t save the Swedish empire’s decline from great power status.
Centralizing eras are marked by finicky, barely technological, advances that A) are not evenly distributed and allow the powers which have them to dominate the powers that don’t, and B) require vast numbers of hierarchically organized people working together in sophisticated coordination to make it work at all, often with extensive infrastructure than can only be worked by such a bureaucracy. Napoleonic Divisions, 5000 man Aircraft Carriers, trans-Continental railway or telegraphs, and massive continent severing canal systems (Suez/Panama) are prime examples. Decentralizing eras are the opposite. Decentralizing eras are defined by sophisticated capital and skill intensive weapons that can be utilized by relatively few people, and which are widely distributed (it being far easier to get even ridiculous amounts of money to invest in tools or skills, than it is to get 10,000+ all obeying at once you). We “sea” this with the very first decentralizing era: The bronze age collapse.
the medieval era is defined by 3 iconic technologies:  Heavy warhorses with advanced stirrups, castle/keeps (and the ranged weapons such as crossbows that lose most of their effectiveness when not defending them), and the Knights armor.  This is the iconic image of the medieval period. All three are capital intensive technologies wielded by small numbers of wealthy men. Later Castles could be held against a force of hundreds by a mere dozen men, warhorses and advancing armor made knights sometimes 10-20 to 1 more effective than ordinary footmen. Within the span of 500 years major historical battles went from 100s of thousands of people in great migratory armies crashing against empires of millions, to 20-60 incredibly wealthy men, all named in the record, facing off against a similar force. Hell individual duels often decided the fates of vast swathes of country side. This is how totally heavy cavalry, armor, and castles just destroyed the very possibility of large complex states and the attendant armies. Now ask yourself… Which type of era are we in?
None of our leaders are analogous to the great conquerors. Rather they are like the Persian and Lydian kings and courtiers of the Pre-Alexandrian period, or the late Roman Emperors and generals, or the thousands of European kings and Courtiers, endlessly fighting grinding wars that achieve remarkably little. Their ultimate achievement being that they might be mostly forgotten as merely mediocre… instead of screwing up monumentally and going down in history like Varus, or Commodus, or Croesus of Lydia whom the oracle told he’d “destroy a great empire”… but whose wars only destroyed his own. These are the kinds of people our elite are doomed to be remembered as… if they’re remembered. McNamara’s tenancy as Secretary of Defence isn’t remembered for him creating a fighting force to rival the Myrmidons or Napoleon’s old Guard, he’s remembered for McNamara’s Morons (Decent Review). . If current trends continue we’re on a fast track to eventually hit the apex of decentralization: Neo-Medievalism.
The above is a map of the Holy Roman Empire, one of the Successors to Charlemagne’s empire which, depending on the dating, lasted from about 800ad-956ad (its very debatable when you date the “start” of the empire) to its final dissolution by Napoleon in 1806. Meaning it lasted longer than the original Roman Empire… Naively we might think this empire is a great counter example to my “decentralizing eras” thesis… Except for one thing: This was never “THE MAP” of the Holy Roman Empire. The above map comprises every territory that was ever part of the “Empire” none of which were ever all in it at the same time… And none of which were ever really part of the same political unit… Its really hard to know if there was even a single year every polity nominally within the empire recognized each other, or were even meaningfully at peace. Indeed the “Holy” in the name was a source of countless wars and conflicts, given It was adopted and maintained (grossly simplifying) as part of a double play, the Emperor at various points wanting to use his title as “Holy” Emperor of Rome to annex the Papal States and assume authority over the Catholic Church, and various Popes aspiring to use their religious authority to place their chosen allies in control of the “Empire”. The Emperor bounced back and forth between being God’s appointed supreme ruler on earth, literally crowned by the Pope, and being the Supreme enemy of the Pope in turn. Its a mess.
You know how everyone gets confused by the electoral college or how American senators worked before they were elected… imagine that confusing mess x100, and the results determined who’d be civil waring with who, whether you’d be going to war with the Pope under the banner of the Antichrist, and later whether Protestants or Catholics would be going under the boot. So Voltaire’s quip that the Holy Roman Empire was “neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire” was very bitingly true… it often warred with the Popes, far from being Roman on at least one occasion it invaded and sacked Rome, and far from being an empire it was more a loose federation that elected its “Emperors”… But even that’s a simplification because at various points the pope was literally crowning the emperor, Rome was part of the empire, and the Crown was hereditary! It simultaneously was and wasn’t Holy, was and wasn’t Roman, and was and wasn’t an Empire. Seriously, this is the map without any simplifications:
Tumblr media
Now tell me, is there another 3 word national title that’s hotly debated? To what extent is the USA really United? States? or America? The meaning of all 3 have shifted massively since the founding… the Union is unrecognizable from what the founders envisioned: becoming a Nation after the civil war, instead of the loose federation they set out to create. The states have gone from being almost fully sovereign republics to interchangeable imperial provinces, and are now again asserting increasing amounts of that lost sovereignty. And of course “America” neither comprises the whole of the Americas.. nor is it wholly within the Americas. ( we cannot forget Hawaii) Might there come a day we quip the USA is/was neither United, nor States, nor America? Hold that thought.
The reason the HRE is so confusing and the reason most Medieval and early modern history is so confusing, is Medieval states… really aren’t states. Fans of Game of Thrones or Shakespeare understand the concept of feudalism and the military hierarchy of Knights answering to lords answering to kings, and Hollywood has taught most people to appreciate how that chain of command can become very conflicted and prone to rebellion or schemes, especially around a succession crisis (do you support the old King’s son, brother, or cousin to succeed him? Well who’s going to give you the better deal?) These stories make great hour and half dramas… But even as all these dynamics did happen, the actual medieval system was vastly VASTLY more complex.
Multiple factions and entities within the same very small stretch of land might all wield some form of sovereignty and ability to make laws or rules, formal and informal, and enforce them with violence… all commanding some version of legitimacy. An individual town might have: 1. a Mayor or sheriff elected by some fraction of the propertied townspeople able to pass laws and have them enforced, even to the point of violence or death sentences;  2. An ecclesiastical order empowered to enforce its own laws upon the members of its order, maintaining armed retainers, and empowered (depending on the era) to root out and deal with heretics, (also at various points they owned and/or regulated brothels and vice crime);  3. local lodges of various guilds that variably are empowered to enforce their monopolies, collect debts, and deal with thieves, fraudsters and embezzlers in their midst, possibly including networked merchant guilds that across their various lodges might have more armed men than all but the largest individual towns; 4. Noble families that maintain arms and loyal retainers, with ancient rights and customs, including discretionary power to deal out violence to those who intrude, insult, or otherwise conflict with them… including dueling with their equals, or just brutalizing members of the lower class who insult them (imagine the brawl that starts off Romeo and Juliet, or the internecine fighting throughout, and how restricted The Prince is in setting any consequences for the Capulets and Montagues for their semi-open warfare); 5. A Knightly Order that maintains oaths, loyalties, obligations and interests distinct and separate form the nominal official chain of military command (think Templars, Hospitallers, Teutons); 6. An individual ward which a powerful alderman runs as a fiefdom/racket with a very reliable collection of thugs at his call; 7. All of the Above all over again multiple times, because we’re talking about a city that’s a conglomeration of smaller towns such as London, and the whole thing’s still organized as if it were 7 distinct entities. 8. The actual lord or governor who “rules” the town and answers to the king… on days he feels like it, and all the retainers and support people he uses to “govern” the place. There is no coherent unified monopoly on violence like we imagine the state to hold in this situation. Instead various factions and institutions have all amassed various forms of legitimacy: cultural, political, and practical…and have all carved out their little niche in which they can deal their own version of law, violence and justice. If you are a lawyer or have to deal with politics or government, or regulation, you might already be starting to see why I’m predicting this for the future but for those who are less versed in American governance:
But they were both of them deceived. For neither the English or French monarchies truly understood the power they had wielded, nor whom had granted it to them: It was not the Crown itself that wielded absolute power, but rather the central government, and the central government was not a collection of neat hierarchically delegated power… the lawyers and bureaucrats were not gaining their power from the crown, the crown was gaining its power from the lawyers and bureaucrats. And as soon as the crown was impeding the Lawyers and bureaucrats centralization and concentration of power in their class, the bureaucrats and upstarts rebelled… Thus the English and French revolutions. Thus the state consumed the sovereign, great men were still able to wield the state like Napoleon or later Hitler, Stalin, FDR, Churchill and Moa… But the leaders now needed to appease the state, not the paper pushers the other way… then by the 1960s it had become basically impossible for even great men to control the bureaucracies beneath them. Stalin may have been killed, Kennedy was killed, Kruschev and Nixon soft couped… And no nation has had a great man leader since… the most successful leaders have been those who most effectively surrendered the last rememenants of their executive power… The executive branch and the “office of the president” is more powerful than it has ever been. The executive branch has never employed more people, nor the Whitehouse. The PERSON of the president though has never been weaker.  Trump was besieged unable to fire any of his “executive” branch “employees” and now Biden physically embodies the state of things… The man who sits in the oval office is puppeted by the Whitehouse, and the Whitehouse by the executive branch… a complete inversion of how the organization is supposed to work.
Whilst there have been many unitary states in history for whom any and all power and authority, at least officially, formally, came from one centralized institution and myth, Whether that be absolute monarchism, where it is concentrated in one person, or Unitary Republics where the “voice of the people” is 100% and only concentrated in one single assembly, The US is slightly more… sophisticated.
This balance of powers is not dissimilar to how hard it was for a duke to control or discipline a petulant lord... Sure there was some hypothetical mechanism to remove him or wage war… but the incredible effort required means you’d rarely if ever do it for any except the worst offender. But all this becomes fractally more complicated when we zoom out. The US federal government receives its authority officially from the constitution… where does the constitution receive its authority? In an absolutist monarchy or French/Russian style revolutionary “republic” the origin of political power would be simple. The king or Director would answer to “God” or “The People” and it would be understood that the government’s continued existence meant God and “the People” were pleased and not to be consulted further on the matter. But when the American Constitution says “We the people” it actually refers to bodies and organizations entitled to represent them and give consultation. Namely the states, who all have their own assemblies, governors, courts and constitutions.
But even this only scratches the surface because there are also hundreds of territory holding recognized sovereign nations within the US. Namely the 326 federally recognized Tribal Indian reservations each of which have their own treaties establishing rights and semi-sovereign powers derived not from the constitution, but from their own pre-existing sovereignty (if they didn’t have this congress wouldn’t have made treaties with them… they’d have just unilaterally passed a law). And these are real powers… they have armed native police, perhaps 10s of thousands of armed men collectively, who answer to the Band Councils alone.
Is it any wonder the bureaucrats have been able to carve out such scrutiny free power for themselves? but of course informally for most of its history the map of real power looked nothing like this.
Remember those 377 officially recognized top level governments with constitutional sovereignty in America alone?  Forget that, that’s a fiction… The real number that exercise violent power, Ie. Real Political Power, is somewhere in the thousands if not tens of thousands. The City of New York is not included on that list (officially it is answerable and dissolvable by the state of New York, LOL)… and the city of New York has 36,000 armed and ready police officers at it’s beck and call (as many as Napoleon had when he invaded Italy). Likewise every dinky little city and county has its own police departments, often with elected sheriffs who functionally have independence that rivals state governments, and are only really removable by a process of impeachment at the state level. And this is before we get into the Cartels, militias, ideological movements, and collections of friends who are all shockingly armed and in many cases better trained and versed in infantry and low intensity warfare than about 90% of military personnel or police.
I’ve by no means covered everything I want to on this topic. Mapping out the future of what a Neo-Medieval post national regime, and how we’d get from here to there is likely to be my life’s work. Both in that I’m going to be writing about it for the rest of my life and that we’re going to be living it. But one of the thing’s I want to emphasize as it would be a mistake to think of these developments as merely the rise of a “Mad Max” warlord driven world. Far from it, whatever successor institutions, aristocracies, and duchies devour the modern welfare states in a orgy of map redrawing and private fortune making will probably find that there is a great deal of economic and technological low hanging fruit just lying about. I doubt it will offset the scale of the disruption globally, but things like Cheap automobiles, cheap bush planes, cheap housing construction, low taxes, no DEI mandates, and a whole host of other things now criminalized by “Democracy” will suddenly be opened up and we’ll probably see a massive change in settlement patterns and ways of living as a result.
We are seeing the inevitable conclusion and failure of the “Liberal Democracy” born into the world around the French Revolution. “Democracy” has expanded to the point where more people have a hypothetical right to vote than exist in the country and governments import them to vote which way the state likes, whilst “Liberal” civil rights have expanded to the point where everything is a right: Healthcare, Schooling, to get hired for jobs, to have your feelings defended… Everything is a right… Except for any of the liberties actually established in and of the founding documents or revolutions of the 18th century. Those are now forms of hate and terrorism. To speak your mind is no longer a protected right, but to be protected from someone speaking their mind about you demands the full armed response of the state.
This is an introductory essay. A justification for my ideological projects to come. What is going to happen is largely inevitable but how long we live through the chaos of the fall or how quickly we settle on the equilibriums that will hold with the new balance of powers will be a matter that could take a 30 or 100 years war… or it could wrap up into a stable equilibrium in 5-15. I hope by digging deeper we can shorten that window, speedrun the new order, and limit the damage these abominations of governments can do on the way out.

Inescapable. No Rules, No Rescue - My version
I saw Viveros's video about this game (Inescapable Is The Worst Game I've Ever Played & I'm Making That Your Problem Now) and I started to brainstorm how this characters could shine or be more interesting, in my opinion.
youtube
I came up with these ideas for the characters.
Harrison Finn Tailor
- A British Bus Driver. He is socially awkward yet gentle and polite, something that wouldn't change much depending on the routes. As the days pass by and he interacts with others on the island, he'll get more out of his shell and form friendships with the other contestants.
- He joined the competition so he would be able to move from his shitty home in one of the worst neighborhoods in London.
Maria Strauss
- A German Programmer who works from home to take care of her little siblings. She is bubbly and sociable, the opposite of Harrison, and cares deeply for others as an older sister would.
- She joined the show so she would be able to move out of her abusive household with her little siblings.
Annika Eklund
- A Swedish House Maid. A kind, sweet yet somewhat dumb girl (Think Lindsay from Total Drama). She finds great pleasure in taking care of others and finds most household chores as entertaining and relaxing. She is very strong yet won't use her strength unless absolutely necessary.
- She joined Inescapable so she would have enough funds to sue one of her clients for sexual harassment.
Daan Zoetemelk
- A Dutch Professional Biker Athlete. On the outside, he is very outgoing and positive and somewhat dumb. However, he tends to be very cold and cruel when it comes to anyone standing in his way or interrupting his plans, often thinking of very harsh decisions or solutions to simple problems.
- He joined the competition so he would have enough money to settle a case in which he brutally and 'accidentally' broke both of his competitor's legs who won first place in the last race he was in.
Eva Tamm
- A Estonian Social Media Influencer. She became viral thanks to her meme and since then has been addicted to the spotlight that came with it. She loves being the center of attention (so she won't be 'forgotten'), and it's a complete social butterfly to everyone around her.
- She joined the show, so she'll have enough funds to start her new life as a professional social media influencer.
Francisca Carrasco
- A Portuguese Mechanic. She is a single mother who takes no shits from anybody and is very confident and proud of her job skills. She cares deeply for her family, especially her little daughter, and is fiercely protective of anyone she considers close.
- Joined Inescapable so she would have enough money to provide a better life for her child.
Giovanni Lombardi
- An Italian 'Businessman'. A devoted Catholic who has very progressive ideals and worldviews. He is a passionate feminist, LGBTQ+ ally, and a kind gentleman who would never dare to hurt a fly unless it was for self-defense. He is a loving father and husband to his nuclear family. However, his relationship with the rest of his family is very strained.
- Joined Inescapable to get his family out of poverty after some of his failed 'business' ventures caused his family to fall into debt.
Valérie D'Orléans
- A French Heiress. She is the youngest child and the least possible heir to her family's business empire. Outshined by her talented sisters and brothers, she feels extremely inferior in her family full of geniuses and forces herself to appear confident and proud of her abilities in order to protect herself from other's scorn and ridicule.
- She joined the competition, so she'll become an independent entrepreneur to show her capabilities as a leader and prove to her family that she is a capable woman.
Sasha Smith
- A Hacker and Enginner from an unknown origin? It's difficult to tell whether their words are lies or the truth, for they mastered the art of lying to protect themselves.
- They joined the show to get a new identity after a nasty accident from their last 'gig'.
Lumi Ndiaye
- A Finnish Chemist. She is very introverted and somewhat emotionless. Some of it comes from horrible racism she suffered as a black woman. She is very close to her family and is a very passionate activist for equality of races.
- She joined Inescapable to create a charity to fight against discrimination in Finland.
Isak Ringvold
- A Norwegian Jeweler. Born into an affluent family of professional jewelers and with a natural talent for jewel crafting and design, Isak came to hate his gift due to the extreme pressures from his family and social circles to continue his family's traditions. It's been years since he ran away from his home to partake in his dream for acting in professional plays, for he loves the exaggerated and dramatic personalities he has observed on the very scarce free time he had before he fled.
- He joined the show so he would be able to fund his studies in acting and eventually debut as a professional actor.

NONIFICATION OF THE BAD PENGUIN WHO DIDN'T NONIFY THEMSELVES:
Hello 👋
For the Fanfic Writer Ask Meme M & U, please, and thank you 😊
M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with?  Did it turn into a story?
Weirdest? IDK. I don't tend to come up with AUs. I have some notes for an AU where Dylan Strome is a girl? That's not so weird though because uh, Dylan Strome??? Let me go check the notes nonny.... Although lbr, an AU where the nyr are all secretly into kink and fuck each other into the team? That's quite weird. But no, back to the UNWRITTEN IDEAS DOCUMENT. The AU where the only reason Tony DeAngelo is nice to Mika is because he doesn't realise he isn't white... because swedish = white in his head. Amazing. Dumb dumb DUMB boy. I just didn't really have anymore than that? Actually no, y'know what, it's not even that. It's the following. And I will copy and paste WORD FOR WORD my fic notes from my fic documents (and yes, all of my fic notes read like this) Medieval AU, Teeks is like 3rd inline to the throne, important enough to make a political marriage, but not so important that it doesn’t matter that his future wife can’t have kids Arranged marriage between him and Nolanne Patrick who is the only daughter of a super rich merchant family. They’re like, yes, we can give the crown a massive dowry for this bitch, but she can’t have children. PLOT TWIST IT’S BECAUSE SHE’S A DUDE IN A DRESS They don’t consummate their marriage, and TK is like secretly wondering if it’s because Nolanne has an STD, but he doesn’t say anything, and she’s super shy, so he mostly is like. Ok, whatevs. This was always for the money, and I’m hella gay anyway. Whatevs. And then NP walks in on TK having sex with Laws, and is all, ohhhhhh oh I didn’t realise he was into dude. (TK was totally bottom btw, because he was) and then he’s all like, HOW DO I TELL HIM I’M  A DUDE. I JUST CANT But then they’re hunting, or out riding or whatever and Nolly gets injured which is sad, but it’s a super high up in the groin injury that needs dealing with IMMEDIATELY. So TK is all like, I know you don’t like me seeing you naked, but like YOU’RE DYING and THIS IS NOT WORTH DYING OVER. So GET THOSE PETTICOATS OUT THE WAY And Nolly’s like, fine, just don’t hate me or whatever. So TK moves the petticoats and SURPRISE! COCK! And he’s all like I NEED TO SAVE YOU but also OMG I WANT YOU. But he focuses mostly on the saving. And is all like, when you’re recovered, we’re talking about this. So Nolly explains that his family have like a million sons, and no daughters, and like, they really wanted this. So they just made me be a girl. And, honestly, I’m quite believable, and I’m queer anyway, so whatevs. And TK is like, hey, wanna consummate our marriage? Nolly: Can I top? TK: I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.
IT'S THAT ONE. BUT THEN AGAIN IN THAT DOCUMENT I HAVE NOTES ABOUT WHICH HOCKEY PLAYERS ARE EQUIVILENT TO WHICH MLP CHARACTERS SO THAT'S PRETTY FUCKING OUT THERE??????? ok back to the questions. What even was the next one? U: Is there a pairing you would like to write, but haven’t tried yet. Oooooh I like this question. i keep meaning to write some hockey sibcest but I haven't written any yet. Maybe Jack/Quinn, or Dylan/Ryan. Tryna think if there's any other hockey pairings that I like reading that I haven't written yet? MattDrai in their own right? OHHHH COLE AND MARTY ST LOUIS VERY MUCH. Basically cole and and old man that there is. Cole and an old dude. Cole and Santa.... oh wait no, I wrote that already.

sandu • 20yrs • they/them • finnish • digital artist
hi there! i'm SanduTiTa or Sandu for short. i make digital art and post it on my art blog @sandu7174 :)
on this blog i mostly just reblog whatever appears on my dash from funny and stupid memes to serious political stuff. i hardly ever tag with content warnings when i reblog on this blog, but with original posts (#my post) and on my art blog, i always do (at least i try to).
more info under the cut:
so what type of person am i? well, art is a big part of my life. i mostly make digital art but i do have a musical side to me as well, it's just not blossoming as well as my visually artistic side is. i'm also an aspiring writer. i wish to make a dramatic comic book someday.
when it comes to social interactions, i am quite shy but i've been trying to work on my social anxiety (and i've been making progress lately). i've always struggled with loneliness but since last year i've been managing to fight that off a little as well. being autistic interacting with people has always been problematic for me, since i tend to overthink things and get things wrong.
i also tend to ask a lot of questions, which annoys some people. being an overthinker and a question-asker and trying to find the middle ground between asking too many questions and not knowing enough, it's... distressing :,D. like i don't wanna be annoying, but i also want to know if i'm being annoying, y'know? but recently i've been asking fewer questions since i've slowly been learning that the voice inside my head which tells me i'm being annoying is lying to me most of the time. but i'm also asking more questions since i'm not as worried about people thinking i'm annoying as before. that's confusing...
i'm transmasculine and nonbinary and i wish to go on HRT someday. since summer 2023 i've known it's something i want to do at some point. unfortunately, i have to get my life together first before i can actually pursue this opportunity, which has turned out to be challenging... (yes, i have depression, how did you know?)
i'm also asexual, greyaromantic, panromantic, and agender.
i'm a very enthusiastic supporter of topfreedom and the Free the Nipple -campaign, and it shows in the posts and the art i make. we as a society need to work towards eliminating this misogynistic double standard that sexualises female-presenting nipples if we value gender equality and wish to move towards a fairer world. anything men can do topless (i.e. go to the beach or a public swimming pool, appear on tv and social media etc.), women should be allowed to do as well. there is no gender equality without nipple equality. if you claim to be a feminist but don't support topfreedom, you're a hypocrite.
tags i use the most: #finnish #swedish #my post #my art #important #topfreedom #abso fucking lutely (i use this tag on posts with hot takes) #character inspiration (i use this tag on posts that give me ideas for the stories i'm working on, so if you see me reblogging your post and using this tag, that means i might implement whatever was in your post into my own characters and stories) #a magical place (i use this tag on posts that include imagery of environments that have magical vibes. it's inspiration for my story involving magic.) #incredible future (i use this tag on posts that have futuristic vibes. it's inspiration for my story involving a futuristic setting.)
if you wanna talk to me about something, don't be afraid to send a message! i'm always up for making new friends :)
more info can be found on my carrd: sandutita.carrd.co (seriously, check out my carrd, there's a lot of info there)

Whada hell, I'll make a new pinned post for this blog. Why not.
Heya, I'm Leaf. I'm an adult living in Sweden, I'm aro/ace and agender, and I go by they/them. I'm also Autistic and have ADD (innatentive ADHD)
This here is just a personal blog where I post about my hyperfixations and my opinions. Nothing is organized in tags. If I reblog a post that has a common phobia I try to tag with either "tw (thing)" or "(thing) tw". I am very bad at this though, if you have serious triggers then I urge you to think about whether you can follow me or not.
If you're looking for my art then check out @theleafcuter.
I draw my own original characters, most of which are either demons, cervitaurs (deer centaurs) or other fantasy creatures. Very rarely do I make fanart, but it happens.
Politically speaking, I'm leftist, and I think I feel the most confident calling myself a socialist. Big fan of Xanderhal and Vaush, I agree with about 90% of their takes, and what little I do disagree on is not enough for me to "denounce" them or whatever.
Generally I believe in letting people live their lives, and that a good society would provide people with water, food, medicine, and shelter free of charge (and still have a UBI for luxuries).
I don't think humanity is inherently lazy, I actually think it's the opposite. If people are happy, healthy, and fed, they will seek out something to do. I also think humanity is inherently kind and cooperative. We wouldn't have gotten this far if we weren't.
Gender and sexuality (and even sex) are fluid, complicated, and ever expanding. Call yourself whatever you want, I'm going to take it at face value. If you lie, then that's on you.
I don't think The Revolution (cough atheist rapture cough) is going to be the answer to all of our problems. Go and fucking vote alright? Democratic parties are ass but they're better to vote on than if you refuse to over a feeling of moral superiority - and they're certainly better than letting facists take over because you thought the lesser evil was somehow worse.
I'm not going to take people seriously if they think revolution is the be-all end-all of leftist action. Come talk to me when you've figured out how I'm supposed to get my medicine in a world where the entire medical field stopped working.
Now, here's a list of things I'm into and will reblog, in no particular order:
Psychonauts (1 & 2)
Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon
Skyrim
Minecraft
Undertale/Deltarune (will tag spoilers as "Deltarune spoilers")
The Owl House
Fionna & Cake (will tag spoilers as "fionna and cake spoilers")
The Life series SMPs (third life, last life, double life, etc)
Hermitcraft SMP
Fantasy Life 3DS/Fantasy Life i (once that comes out)
Splatoon
Pokémon
my own opinions/political leanings
funny memes
swedish memes
Follow me and if you're as unhinged about reblogging as me (autistic) we might become mutuals lmao

Anti-Conspiracy Punk Rock: Why the Viagra Boys Are Calling You a Monkey
Sweden’s Viagra Boys recently released their third LP Cave World - a follow-up to their fantastic debut Street Worms, and sophomore cut Welfare Jazz. Continuing in the same vein as their satirical hit single “Sports,” Cave World is a post-punk new wave masterpiece that pokes fun at modern society, and the polarization of people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since its release, Cave World has been highly praised by fans and critics, most notably Anthony Fantano, who not only gave the album a rare 9/10 rating in his theneedledrop review, but also named Cave World the third best album of 2022 in his year-end list. The Viagra Boys also recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! - performing “Troglodyte.”
So what’s so special about Cave World? Well, on the surface, it may feel like this Swedish sextet are just pointing fingers at anti-vaxxers and gun nuts and calling them monkeys. While they are undeniably doing just that, Cave World is much deeper than it seems on the surface. From references to Channel 5 News, Vsauce, and internet memes like Tiktaalik and Return to Monke, Cave World has a lot to offer, and this video essay helps uncover a lot of the album’s intricacies. The album also features an odd prediction of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe’s assassination, which in turn proves how easy it is for conspiracy theories to start - even though the album aims to make fun of today’s internet hypothesizers.
Not a bad video.
And yeah, this whole album gives some pretty big thematic (and more than a few musical) nods toward Devo, who were already inspired by some ugly political trends of the time. Not least by the Kent State Massacre. Their takes make it all sound fresh, however.

18+! No exceptions! This character and the lore are derived from 18+ materials. If your age is not listed on your blog or in any of your information I will ask just that you’re 18+ and you don’t have to give any more detail than that.
Dark and NSFW themes may be present! I will do my best to tag trigger warnings but this is my general warning for the blog. I have a full list of the tags that I do track on this post, just ask if you need anything added.
Absolutely non-selective, any and all interactions are encouraged! No prior messaging is required whatsoever but it’s always appreciated! I’m very friendly :)
Non-private, all threads will be shared via Tumblr posts, I do not rp through DMs or any other platforms. Please understand that it’s what I'm comfortable with and not something I see changing anytime soon.
If you’re interested in interacting please check out the Verses! All writing, threads, and plots will take place in Verse 1 unless otherwise specified.

🪻Summary🪻
I go by a couple nicknames and my blog URLs, I'm comfortable being called Art, Apidae, Api, or Cherub. I’m 21+ NB (They/Them), in CDT/CST time zone. My main blog is @eternal-apidae
🫧Writing🫧
Native English speaker, but I will probably make some grammar/spelling mistakes. I keep most posts formatted, abusing the read-more and post-cutting features, because I prefer how it looks and to keep dashes from getting overly clogged. I cut all posts after 10 reblogs. I also post all starters and NSFW under read more. Replies are medium to long, but I don’t require anyone to match my length, just please don’t reply with one-word replies, it doesn’t give me a lot to work with.
🪻Shipping🪻
I will not hesitate to ship our muses if you’re interested but it will never be required. With all the themes and plots I'm interested in for my muse, there are plenty of options.
🫧Plotting🫧
I absolutely love plotting, and I am always willing to hear how you’d be interested in our muses interacting. My DMs are always open. In the event that we have started a thread, plotted, or rp meme, that I lose interest in I will reach out to you to see if there’s anything else we’re both interested in.
🪻Activity🪻
Highly active and typically quick to respond. I’m mostly active during the day and tend to get busier in the evenings but my sleep schedule is wonky enough that if I have time you may get a reply in the middle of the night.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗Verses˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗
Tumblr media
・❥・{Verse 1}・❥・
As a Jembax Opal has an Owner/Master, they are sometimes cruel and don’t particularly care for Opal other than making sure she performs her duties well. They are powerful, they can have political or business connections. They are rich and upper class. With this verse, Opal is used to the finer things in life simply for upkeep, name-brand clothing, manicured nails, and simple but expensive jewelry. She is something to show off, a glorified housekeeper, entertainment, and a sexual object. This life has made her very unhappy so she turns heavily to alcohol and drugs to numb herself. Since her Master doesn’t care much once her daily duties are taken care of she tends to sneak out to bars or to party. With this verse, Opal tends to meet people through her sneaking out or through her Master’s grand parties to show off.
・❥・{Verse 2}・❥・
With this verse, your muse may be Opal’s Master by purchasing her from a previous Master. She can be traded for money, favors, belongings, or whatever her previous Master was willing to negotiate with. For whatever reason your muse has decided against creating a new Jembax and simply wants to bargain for her. Being a pre-existing Jembax she’s not as valuable as a custom-made Jembax, but her considerable appeal is how trained and educated she is. Her biggest downside is that she has been a Jembax for many years and had many cruel Masters before your muse and is quite depressed and may even go through withdrawal due to her previous lifestyle. With this verse, your muse owns Opal and can use and set any expectations for her that they see fit.
・❥・{Verse 3}・❥・
As a Jembax Opal is not considered a free person, after many years of obedience she has finally snapped, whether your muse had any influence in that decision or not. She is considered a fugitive and anyone helping her will be as well. Being on the run is not something Opal ever wanted so it’s not a decision she takes lightly, she’s moody and regretful about whatever has caused her to take this path. The only work she can find is a brothel willing to turn a blind eye but they will not do anymore to help her and will turn her in if she causes too much trouble.

please tell me about which swedish rulers I should fight, why and if I would win over them or not
because you said “ruler” and not monarch, i am going to take some liberaty and also discuss prime ministers, nobility and such like, which for the majority of swedens history often of equal influence and power than the monarch, or even during certain epochs, actually much more important to the rule of sweden than the monarchs:
Axel Oxenstierna, Lord High Chancellor of Sweden during the reign of Gustav II Adolf and Queen Christina (in office between1612–1654):
this dude was basically the actual de-facto ruler of sweden during Gustav II Adolfs wars, and during the youth of Queen Christina.
he famously given the credit for laying the foundation for the modern adminstative state appartus of sweden. among things he did, was creating the adminstrative län in sweden, a system still in use today.
was also a TOTAL DICKHEAD. during his rule, particulary the oppression of sami people increased. obssesed with starting wars. wanted to create and then uphold the swedish empire created by the conquering of Gustav II Adolf. in general a bad dude.
FIGHT HIM. if you will win? idk, but like, it your damn duty to fight axel oxenstierna if you are face to face with him.
(not saying that Queen Christina and Gustav II Adolf were blameless or something, but this dude is very much the one who held the reign for the practical politics of the swedish state during in particular the epoch of Gustav II Adolf constant warfare).
Per Albin Hansson, Swedish Prime Minister 1932–1936 and 1936–1946. leader of the socialist democratic party of sweden 1925–1946.
dude most famous for popularizing the concept of “det svenska folkhemmet”, a concept which was…. extremaly influential on modern sweden. and which i do not have space to explain here.
BUT, crucial to the ideology of folkhemmet was the the stable heterosexual couple. well amusingly so, Per Albin did actually have two seperate families, and two seperate wives, of which he never told anyone in the public eye about.
so please fight him, do it by mentioning this fact, and you will win i promise. do it!
Olof Palme, Prime Minister of Sweden 1969–1976, 1982-1986, leader of the socialist democratic party of sweden 1969-1986.
this dude was famous for being quick-witted and have a sharp tongue in political debates. so yes fight him, to make him happy, because political discoure was his fave thing.
then hug him, and tell him from me, and a large majority of swedens population, that we miss him very much ever sense he got murdered in 1986, and that we wish he was still with us (because then he could yell at the politics of the current socialist democratic party among things)
do not fight him seriously. just play fight with him, and then give him a loving hug (also perhaps ask who murdered him, we still have no idea in sweden to this day….).
Jean Baptiste Bernadotte [royal title, rarely used today in sweden: Karl XIV Johan], King of Sweden 1818–1844
the replacement for the heir of Gustav III, of which the parliement also disliked. found in a bar by the swedish ambassador by chance according to legend. the ancestor of the current royal family of sweden.
also, forced norway in a union with sweden, which was a major dick move. fight this dude, he was a general in napeolons army, so you will most likely lose, but do it anyway.
Oscar II, King of Sweden 1872–1907and King of Norway 1872–1905
some nobody swedish king who tried to win back the power for the royalty over the parliement. pffft. a doomed project! he was alive during the rise of the working class movements in sweden, which demanded seats in the swedish parliment, and also when it became totally clear for all that Norway would not be that damn forced union that Bernadotte forced them into, anymore.
of which the different dates he ruled sweden and norway gossips about.
old-fashioned grump, fight him. you will win, just like the dissolving of the union of norway and sweden, and the march of democracy won during his lifetime. you might say, why fight with someone who is already laying down? well, he has a very punschable face.
do it!
honorable mention: different irrelavant monarchs of sweden during the 20th, 19th century, 18th century who we do not even learn the names of in school, because they were tbh mostly, or entiraly irrelevant to the actual politics of sweden:
fight them. they are laying down i know. but do it. you will win (just as the politicans of sweden won over them in life).
Gustav III, King of Sweden, 1771–1792:
tried to not be irrelavant as the majority of the 18th century swedish monarchs were. well, he was not irrelavant, but failed entiraly in bringing back the power to the monarch, because he got ya know
murdered by the parliement because of it
but, well, because he is going to get murdered, it feels like a over-kill to actually fight him. look at a play with him or something instead! he was a fan of the arts, so just trick him into believing you are totally on his side.
then join the murder conpiracy i guess *shrugs*
Karl IX, King of Sweden 1599– 1604:
this is the father of Gustav II Adolf, which is what is mostly known for today in sweden. He was one of the many sons of Gustav Vasa, who fought among eachother for the swedish throne after Gustav Vasas death.
also known for, according to legend, dying because of the pure rage of seeing the danish army in the distance (or well heart-attack brough upon by rage at seeing the DANES).
this dude is therefore clearly very ready to fight, but you should not, because you will lose. he did after all win that power-battle between the sons of Gustav Vasa and ended up on top. so, WELL, he is clearly terrifying.
avoid Karl IX at all costs.
Göran Persson, Socialist Democratic Party, Prime Minister of Sweden 1996–2006,
Carl Bild, Moderate Party, Prime Minister of Sweden 1991–1994,
Fredrik Reinfeldt, Moderate Party, Prime Minister of Sweden 2006–2014
the triangle of evil and in general horrible swedish prime ministers of my own life-time. please fight all these guys and their neo-liberal reforms of swedish politics!
FIGHT THEM! (well not with violence literally, because these guys are all still alive, and saying such things would be threath according to swedish law i think. but you know, fight them with words and politics).
(our current prime minister, the socialist-democratic Stefan Löfven is not listed because i have not yet made up my mind about him as a person. these other 3 dudes i have a personal vendetta against!!! we will see with Löfven, if he ever shows enough personlity for anyone to figure out who he is).
Final words
so that was some of them! making this kind off list is hard for sweden, we have existed as a nation for several hundreds years. when we should start count the start of sweden remain in debate, but well, often we calculate the state of sweden from the reign of Gustav Vasa, with start in1523, but ALSO, we often include medieval sweden in our calculations and and…. its complicated? yes?
my point, there are so many people to list in the category of “rulers of sweden”, so haha, this is just a selection of some of them. we are missing the majority of them on this list!

About to watch S20E27 “The Anniversary Waltz”, which doesn’t actually have John in it but it has Henrik so I can’t skip it. (I mean I could skip it but... Henrik my bisexual autistic king.)
Edit 1: Ric calling out the government “messing around with [the NHS]” within the episode’s first minute. Now this is the Holby I know and love. This is a Holby that actually still gave a semblance of a damn about being a show about the NHS (it was already fading out from that but it wasn’t that bad yet) instead of being Eastenders with stethoscopes. (Seriously makes me laugh how people praised the final episodes of Holby for paying some lip service to the NHS when it hadn’t been a show about it for years. Pushing anything even remotely political to the side until after the show has already been cancelled isn’t brave writing, it’s cowardice.)
Edit 2: Jac!!
Edit 3: Jac and Nicky’s first meeting. Jac: “Who is she, and why is she following me around like Little Orphan Annie?”
Also, Abigail’s unintentional double entendre to Jac made me laugh my ass off: “Always good to be touched on your entrance.”
Edit 4: An organ donation plot? Joe Ainsworth really ripped off his own script from this episode for the finale lmao.
Edit 5: We can have a patient call Serena “Dr. McKinnie”, but we never got Reyhan calling Henrik “Henrik Lövborg”. Though it was against continuity to have Reyhan be Henrik’s teacher in the first place so I guess it makes sense that they’d also defy continuity by ignoring that Henrik’s surname would’ve been Lövborg at the time.
Edit 6: The first appearance of the nickname “Foetus”!
Edit 7: People doing actual medical stuff?! In my Holby?! Those were the days.
Edit 8: Can you imagine if we’d had Jac/Abigail instead of Flac?
Edit 9: The patient attacking Zav. Jesus.
Edit 10: HENRIK MY BELOVED
Edit 11: Henrik’s body language and speech patterns in this scene are really autistic. Feels like I’m looking in a mirror.
Edit 12: I miss Ric. I miss Ric so much.
Edit 13: Serena’s interactions with her patient are kind of cute actually.
Edit 14: Ric refers to a past patient of his as “built like the Hulk”. Donna: “I never understood why he burst out of his shirt, but not his trousers!”
Man, I adore Donna.
Edit 15: This patient and her husband are adorable. Couple goals.
Edit 16: Jac’s patient telling her he doesn’t think he deserves his heart transplant and Jac telling him he does deserve it. Aww!!
But Jac telling him he has a “better than evens chance of seeing his 75th birthday” makes me really sad because she never even got to make it to 50 :(
Edit 17: HENRIK AGAIN, MY KING
Edit 18: Henrik sharing his lunch with Sheilagh!! Cute.
Edit 19: Glasses Jac!!
Edit 20: Early Jac and Nicky scenes now get me in that “they don’t know how much they’ll mean to one another” meme mood.
Edit 21: Ric: “It’s the longest of longshots.” Me: LISTEN, THAT DISTANCE, BETWEEN US, COULDA TOOK A WHILE--
(I miss the proper Holby trailers with the great music.)
Edit 22: I love Henrik!!!
Edit 23: Henrik mentions reading Pippi Longstocking (or Pippi Långstrump, as she’s known in Swedish) books as a kid.
Edit 24: The elderly patient giving up his chance at a heart transplant so the other patient with a family to look after can get it, aww.
Edit 25: Jac asking if her patient is suicidal :’))
Edit 26: I love Zav.
And this episode is reminding me why I once loved this show.
Edit 27: The storyline with the elderly patient is making me cry.
Edit 28: Zav smiling!!
Edit 29: Serena’s old patient having named his daughter after her always gets me, it’s so cute.
Edit 30: Dom saying he’d like to still be with Lofty in 50 years :((
Edit 31: This episode is a much better and more meaningful tribute to the NHS than the finale ever was.
Edit 32: “But I did get to flirt with a couple fit firemen!” Donna is the best.
Edit 33: Sheilagh giving Lofty his grandfather’s ring to propose to Dom with is so sweet. I miss healthy Dofty.
Edit 34: Serena to Ric: “You’ve been here since, what, the 1920s?”
Edit 35: Not Jac being compared to objects again.
Edit 36: Abi and Fletch in their breakup era.
Edit 37: Serena and Ric getting locked in at Albie’s, lmaooo
Edit 38: And to top off the “Joe Ainsworth ripped off his own script for the finale”, we end the episode with a Jac voiceover.

yo dont know yashua you cant say he's racist how woulf you feel if someone judged you based on your religion and called you racist and sexist for it? its his right ot believe what he wants and you are being like a nazi attacking him
ok, look. I was just gonna delete this or respond to this w a meme and laugh it off (and the girlies on my snap KNOW this made me cackle) but we’re talking about a particularly insidious brand of racism and misogyny and I feel the need to elaborate. for those who didn’t see this is the post we are discussing.
Let’s start by discussing the tradwife movement. this post was tagged as tradwife, so you can’t tell me it’s not associated with the movement. the hashtag is at the top of the pic and tagged in the description, so it’s hard to miss. Yashua commented on a post with those hashtags being VERY visible saying he liked that, so he v obviously subscribes to those ideas.
What is the tradwife movement? it means “traditional wife” and it originated in alt-right spaces as a means of getting women to subscribe to right-wing ideals. This NYT Opinion piece by Annie Kelly, a Ph.D. student researching the impact of digital cultures on anti-feminism and the far right, describes this phenomenon in incredible depth. Here is a short explanation of where the movement started, pulled from Ms. Kelly’s article
“Some members of the alt-right have been weighing whether the absence of women from their movement is a problem. In 2016, the Swedish nationalist Marcus Follin, who calls himself The Golden One on YouTube, made a video titled “The Women Question.” In it, he urged his followers to dial down the open misogyny and consider new strategies to win over more women to the white nationalist cause. Mr. Follin was responding to statistics from the Austrian presidential election that year, in which female voters helped swing the election away from the candidate of the far-right Freedom Party. “You might not like that women have the right to vote, you might not like that anyone has the right to vote,” Mr. Follin conceded, “but it’s about winning a long-term political victory.
Enter the tradwives.
Over the past few years, dozens of YouTube and social media accounts have sprung up showcasing soft-spoken young white women who extol the virtues of staying at home, submitting to male leadership and bearing lots of children — being “traditional wives.”
If you read through that tiny snippet of the article, what are some keywords that stand out? for me, it’s “alt-right,” and “white nationalist.” The racism there is unmistakable, and while Yashua may not be white he has previously expressed some incredibly racist viewpoints, like how him kissing a Russian woman ended racism and his saying the n-word despite doing the most to separate himself from the black community when it’s even slightly inconvenient for him. If he’s following and participating in tradwife circles, then he’s also v much a part of white supremacist and anti-black movements (yes, POC can be parts of those movements, no it does not make it ok).
The article also makes it incredibly clear how misogynistic the tradwife movement is:
Female fears of objectification and sexual violence remain as potent as ever; the tradwife subculture exploits them by blaming modernity for such phenomena, and then offers chastity, marriage and motherhood as an escape. As one such YouTube commentator, a teenager, told her audience, traditionalism does “what feminism is supposed to do” in preventing women from being made into “sexual objects” and treated “like a whore.”
It’s a lie, of course. Modesty has never been a safeguard against degradation or rape, and we know that a rapist is no less likely to hurt a woman simply because he’s married to her. But it’s not difficult to see how it could be a seductive lie; the continuous headlines made by the #MeToo movement, paradoxically, were eagerly shared among tradwife networks, as supposed proof that sexual liberation had made life unacceptably dangerous for women.
if you read this and aren’t completely appalled by how this movement preys on women’s fears to push them into pursuing subservient roles in relationships with abusive men, then idk how to better explain it for you. White female victimhood has always been weaponized by right-wing movements to tempt them into joining their ranks, but for a man of color with a predominantly brown, Latin American fanbase to be advocating for this shit? He is exposing mostly young, impressionable women of color to a culture that wants them dead, and that will happily manipulate them in order to achieve their ends. he has a platform, and he’s using it to explicitly harm his fans. This has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with the explicit rhetoric of the movement that he showed support for. he isn’t racist and sexist for being Christian (although, Christianity in and of itself is heavily tied to racism and misogyny and, like most organized religions, its members need to evaluate these stances to make sure they don't perpetuate them) he is racist and sexist for supporting ang giving a platform to the tradwife movement.
Now that we’ve discussed the movement as a whole, let’s talk about the meme itself. Of course, the biggest umbrella is Jesus Christ, alluding to how Christian faith protects followers from the “rain” or any harmful things. that’s fine, that’s just Christianity. the problem is what comes next, the husband's umbrella labeled with “protecting” and “providing for the family.” UNDER that, and thus presumably less importantly, is the wife’s umbrella labeled with “managing the home” and “having children.” The meme very clearly positions the wife’s role as subservient to the husband’s. Look, it’s perfectly okay to want to be a housewife and devote yourself to kids, but this responsibility is not less than that of the breadwinner. Housework is literally a necessity in maintaining livable conditions, and the reality is in traditional family setups it’s considered menial. if a wife wants to stay home and take care of the kids that’s fine, and if you want to marry a woman that’s into that then that’s also fine, but that woman is not lesser than you. Her role is equal to yours, and just as necessary to sustaining your life as yours is to sustaining hers. Putting a woman’s role under yours, no matter your ideal family dynamic, is sexist. That is a very basic misogynistic ideal, and we cannot ignore that.
Now, onto your comment specifically.
“how woulf [sic] you feel if someone judged you based on your religion and called you racist and sexist for it”
I am not judging Yashua based on his religion. He is a Christian, and I don’t judge him based solely on that fact. I judge him based on specific problematic things he’s said to support his Christianity. Calling Buddha an “old fat man” is racist, regardless if you’re a Christian or not. Implying that women are subservient to men is sexist, regardless if you’re a Christian or not. These are not isolated incidents with him, and they point to deeper-rooted beliefs that are frankly concerning. It’s not about the fact he’s Christian, it’s about his specific beliefs.
I’m not going to pretend that there are no problematic sects and beliefs in Islam, but I am comfortable in the fact that I don’t support them, and in fact actively advocate against many of them. I’m literally going into Human Rights to help fight the racism and misogyny ingrained in my country’s religious laws. this is by no means comparable to Yashua, and if you’re implying that I’m racist or sexist on the very basis of my being Muslim you are not only wrong but also islamophobic as fuck.
“its [sic] his right ot [sic] believe what he wants”
Yes, it is. So long as those beliefs don’t actively harm other people, especially marginalized groups like these do. and guess what anon? if he has the right to believe what he wants, so do I. and I believe he’s a racist, misogynistic asshole who is in desperate need of self-reflection. The difference between mine and his beliefs is that mine don’t actually harm anyone and are well-founded. his are actively hurting his fans, and he needs to fix up because he is spreading incredibly fucked up beliefs.
“you are being like a nazi attacking him”
um. yeah, NO. it is not like nazism to call someone out for perpetuating alt-right ideas. if anything, calling out pro-nazi propaganda is uhh. probably one of the least nazi-like thing someone can do. also equating me calling out a problematic meme to a literal genocide is anti-Semitic and tone-deaf as fuck. Don’t pull that shit here.
well then, I think this is a good enough response. I am very passionate about these issues, and if someone else wants to discuss them I am happy to, but just an FYI, I expect you to be coming in with proper manners. the only reason I answered this ask is because it was an important conversation starter, but if anyone brings this energy into my ask box again it’s a straight block. I hope that’s clear, and that this was helpful. Let me know if you want me to adjust the tags on this post, I did my best but I know this can be a triggering topic, so if you need anything specific tagged just shoot me an ask or a dm. Stay safe!

Text
my eurovision top 39 songs (finally)
anyway i finally got my top 39 completed. under a read more because it can get kinda long with the commentary i added klfdja;sflk (and by that i mean VERY long, maybe a wall of text if i have a lot to say about the song.)
none of this takes rehearsals into account.
basically, 39-37 i don't like, 36-35 are meh, 34-25 are decent, 24-18 are good, 17-12 i enjoy listening to a lot, 11-4 i love, and I would pay for votes for top 3 if i could.
39. Azerbaijan - Efendi - Mata Hari - Honestly, I kinda want to like this song. The instrumentation is nice, especially with the Azeri instruments. Efendi's vocals are ok during the verses. However, her vocals during the MA-MA-MA-MATA HARI part makes this song utterly unlistenable for me. It is just so distracting and ear-grating. Not great for my sensitive ears. And that is without taking anything else into account.
38. Estonia - Uku Suviste - The Lucky One - For some reason reminds me of a boring modern country song. Bland af. At least the melody of the chorus is nice.
37. Cyprus - Elena Tsagrinou - El Diablo - Discount Lady Gaga at the best points of this song. Feels like three songs at once. Also, the lyrics seem like they just went all "What Spanish-sounding words sound spicy? Taco? Tamale? Mamacita?" As a Spanish speaker and as someone of Mexican descent who enjoys those foods, this annoys the living shit out of me. At least I can make El Diablo/Fallen Angel memes out of this. (Honestly, I don't mind the gratuitous Spanish with the words El Diablo.) Also, this song got real old real quick.
36. Slovenia - Ana Soklič - Amen - The gospel vibe is nice, but there is just too much Christianity in it for me to enjoy this song. Sorry, Ana.
35. Moldova - Natalia Gordienko - Sugar - Sounds like a sugary version of Siren Song by MARUV. Kinda boring, but enjoyable in the right circumstances.
34. Georgia - Tornike Kipiani - You - Good to listen to when mind feels blank. At first I kinda liked this song, but nowadays this song has lost its charm. This won't sound out of place alongside boring 70s slow classic rock songs.
33. Austria - Vincent Bueno - Amen - Not something I would listen to regularly, but still nice. For me, easily the biggest downgrade from 2020.
32. Greece - Stefania - Last Dance - Pleasant to listen to, not much else.
31. Portugal - The Black Mamba - Love Is On My Side - Good song, but not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, some great songs have to be near the bottom of my ranking.
30. Germany - Jendrik - I Don't Feel Hate - A fun song to listen to. The novelty wears off after a while. The feel good vibes and ukulele are nice.
29. Israel - Eden Alene - Set Me Free - the song release version was bland and boring, but the revamp. Now THAT is good stuff. The song doesn't seem so empty anymore. I miss the key change from the original, though.
28. Spain - Blas Cantó - Voy A Quedarme - A very emotional and beautiful song from Spain. Again, not usually my cup of tea. However, the melody somehow gives me a nostalgic vibe.
27. North Macedonia - Vasil - Here I Stand - DAMN Vasil has a lovely voice. Nice that he's showing it off here. Too slow of a song for me to enjoy regularly, though.
26. Albania - Anxhela Peristeri - Karma - I don't have much to say other than this song is nice.
25. Bulgaria - VICTORIA - Growing Up Is Getting Old - Pleasant to listen to, but depending on my mood I think this is a beautiful song but not my cup of tea or a complete snoozefest.
24. Serbia - Hurricane - Loco Loco - Fun song, but it feels like something is lacking, and I can't quite put my finger on it.
23. San Marino - Senhit - Adrenalina - Once the initial hype from Flo Rida being on the song died down, this became another typical Eurovision bop.
22. Sweden - Tusse - Voices - At first I thought the song was completely unremarkable and couldn't understand how this won Melodifestivalen. Nowadays it's a nice song to chill to. I gotta respect a perfect televote score from the national final.
21. Ireland - Lesley Roy - MAPS - nice.
20. Croatia - Albina - Tick Tock - Grew on me slightly. Shoutout for including a verse in Croatian.
19. Switzerland - Gjon's Tears - Tout l'Univers - Another grower for me. Doesn't hit as hard as his song from last year, but I dig it.
18. France - Barbara Pravi - Voilà - Lovely chanson right here. I wish it didn't take forever to pick up, though. I was about to completely give up on this song in the middle of my first listen. I'm glad I didn't.
17. Belgium - Hooverphonic - The Wrong Place - Classy. Not much else to say.
16. Ukraine - Go-A - Shum - I'd definitely go rave to this song. I kept finding this song hard to rank due to the white voice. I couldn't decide if I absolutely adored it or if I found it grating. Maybe I just wasn't feeling well when I first thought about it.
15. Lithuania - The Roop - Discoteque - Lots of fun, doesn't have the charm that On Fire had last year. I would dance to this song.
14. Poland - RAFAŁ - The Ride - I actually kinda like this song???? Even with Rafal's vocals??? I know he has political controversies, but I can't help but think this song is nice. A better, less controversial singer would benefit this song, though. I'm not counting the revamp just yet since it was released too recently.
13. Latvia - Samanta Tīna - The Moon Is Rising - This song gives me nostalgic mid to late 2000s hip hop vibes. The guitars in this song are lovely.
12. Romania - ROXEN - Amnesia - Definitely something that can put me in a trance if I'm in the right mood.
11. Czechia - Benny Cristo - omaga - Nice, catchy, I would dance to this.
10. Malta - Destiny - Je Me Casse - Damn, Destiny has a lovely voice! And the song itself is wonderful. I'm not a fan of the amount of Swedish talent being used instead of Maltese talent, but I really do enjoy listening to this.
9. Denmark - Fyr og Flamme - Øve Os På Hinanden - another really fun song! This really grew on me. Nowadays if I want to listen to a Eurovision song, this is one of the first songs I think of.
8. The Netherlands - Jeangu Macrooy - Birth of a New Age - I can vibe with this. You can hear the passion in this song. I wish I could let my body do the talking right now, but y'all can't see that with just a tumblr text post.
7. Russia - Manizha - Russian Woman - I was NOT expecting this to come out of Russia when it won the national final. I wasn't expecting to like this either. The message is great, the instrumental is great, everything about this is brilliant.
6. United Kingdom - James Newman - Embers - A funky song. I LOVE James's voice. Massive upgrade from last year in my opinion. I'm a sucker for brass in an upbeat song. Unfortunately, I have had the staging kinda spoiled and I am VERY skeptical about this coming out of bottom five. I'm done with the BBC.
5. Australia - Montaigne - Technicolour - There is a Lot happening in this song and I am all in for it. I'm kinda terrible at parsing lyrics, but it's a non-issue when I can follow Montaigne's voice and forget about the lyrics. Ironically enough, it's Montaigne's voice that also worries me this Eurovision season - mostly whether she was able to pull off her live on tape performance off.
4. Iceland - Daði og Gagnamagnið - 10 Years - I didn't think Daði could pull it off against this year, but he did it. I like this just a little more than Think About Things, which was my favorite song last year. I'm still a little gutted that this pandemic robbed him of a probable victory, but I've made peace with it. I still need to learn the dance moves, though.
3. Italy - Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni - FUCK YEAH A KICKASS ROCK SONG IN EUROVISION! This song gave me massive rock en español vibes on my fist listen, and honestly this is something I would bang my head to if I had the same body I did when I was 15.
2. Norway - TIX - Fallen Angel - I was not expecting to like this song much, let alone becoming THIS obsessed with TIX. In fact, he wasn't even on my radar for winning MGP. I listened to Ut Av Mørket for the first time and thought something like 'this is boring af, but at least it's in Norwegian'. And then he changed it to English, which I wasn't a fan of at first. And then one day the lyrics clicked - especially with my own struggles with mental illness. To this day this is one of only two Eurovision songs to actually make me cry. Even now he still isn't my MGP winner (that honor goes to JORN), but he has definitely won my heart.
1. Finland - Blind Channel - Dark Side - To say that this song kicks ass would be an understatement for me. This song has just the right mix of rock, pop, and even metal. Ever since I found out that this song would be in the national final, I knew that it would be my favorite this whole Eurovision season regardless of who won UMK. Yes, my jaw dropped when I saw the lead Blind Channel had in UMK. I literally cancelled my plans to watch the MGP final live because of these guys. I am not disappointed. Even Måneskin couldn't bring these guys down in my ranking. And while the lyrics might be a bit iffy, they did get me through rough times. I hope these guys are able to bring rock music back like they want to. But for now, I will give them my (useless tbh) douze points.
