“classic literature is so boring, why do high schools never change the reading requirements for kids? how can these books still be relevant?!”
oh, honey, if you only knew the amount of teen romcoms based on classic literature

SUMMARY: An awkward high school student strives to lose his virginity before his parents and their Satanic cult can sacrifice him to the devil.
Mod Sus: I accidentally ended up reading the whole plot of this one and it's surprisingly hilarious??? I should actually watch this one.

y'all i cannot believe wwdits is a real show. SPECIFICALLY season 4. it is a gay sitcom (i use the term sitcom loosely) that is not explicitly about being gay, but queerness is woven into every piece of it. it's not just "oh this show is about queer people being queer" but it's "it's about vampires and the supernatural, but their queerness is also important to the narrative." it makes jokes about being gay, but being gay is never the butt of the joke. we get symbolism and metaphors AND we get characters explicitly saying they're gay. it's natural. it's actually funny and not just trying to make gay jokes or characters just to tick a diversity box. there is no character that only exists as "the gay character."
i am just so thankful to be living in a time where we have shows like this coming out. even ten, twenty years ago we would be hard pressed to find shows with such diverse and vibrant queer representation and narratives. and as a queer writer/creative i am so so grateful that this is the direction we're headed in.

I couldn’t rave about this movie more! I genuinely think it’s one of the funniest movies ever, and it’s unapologetically queer AF! Easily one of the best films of the year, and in a just world, it would receive recognition during awards season (but this is not a just world). Rachel Sennott, Ayo Edebiri, and Ruby Cruz are sensational, and I’d also recommend watching Emma Seligman’s first film, Shiva Baby if you haven’t (also starring Rachel Sennott).
reblog for larger sample size :)

📽️ 10 Things I Hate about You (1999)
This is one of my favorite movies. I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen it, but it never gets old. It’s based on a Shakespeare play (The Taming of the Shrew) which is probably why all the characters are so interesting and relatable. Shakespeare’s themes are so universal and timeless, and I think this movie is too. I’ve loved this movie from the first time I saw it.
Sex/nudity: 5/10 (drawings of breasts and penises, off-screen flashing, kissing, many innuendoes, nicknames for male parts, talk of teen pregnancy)
Language: 3/10 (mostly mild but there is quite a bit)
Violence: 2/10 (a couple fights)
Overall rating: 9/10

I’ve said it before but I NEED a wacky teen comedy movie with a bisexual twist.
Hear me out, it starts out fairly standard, there’s a loser guy who’s down-bad for a cute girl in his school, but uh-oh, she’s started dating one of the hot guys from the swimming team. Bummer! But THEN, over the course of the movie our Main Character realise his feelings of jealousy towards the rival are turning into a crush on him! What the hell is going on?! Now he has a crush on both of them‽ MC ends up in various bizarre and stressful scenarios involving this couple and shenanigans ensue.
